I'm pretty sure everyone can agree that 'skill based matchmaking' doesn't work in this game. What you have said still doesn't address the main issue of this post, which is how being chased by both killers = dead in 10 seconds. Unless you are an insane survivor. Everyone keeps saying "If both killers are chasing you then all the other survivors will gen rush!". Haha, I wish. Like I said, MOST of the time none of my teammates are doing gens. Why? I don't know, not my problem. All my matches lately both killers chase together because I think they've started to realise that this is actually more effective. Run to a loop, you'll get cornered. Caught out in the open? You're done. They don't have to worry about chase time, because the chases don't even last 10 seconds. They'll just move from one gen to the next, killing any and all survivors that were there pretty much instantaneously. So yeah, taking into account that survivors seem to be doing anything but gens and killers are just sweeping the floor with us, I think a little Endurance would be nice.

if like 90% of players in a team is a literally does nothing they don't deserve a win in slightest, game should be balanced around those who actually plays the game, not those who messing around without using any brain

With your logic, killers must get instant hit because there is a situation where one killer is afk or extremely useless nurse, just so single wraith can win against 8 players who are actually playing

Of course those kind of balancing will results in unwinnable game against actually competent opponent, definitely stupid way to balance in PvP games

It's just a weird forum thing where killer mains try to boost their opinion by stating they play both sides and care for both sides despite being incredibly biased.

Sometimes killers farm after someone gives up, most of the time they don't. And I've never seen end game chat of someone complaining about a hook suicide.

Tying up those kind of things to specific side is even weirder than those though, all it does is to make your post look biased

Whether survivor or killer people all do same, and not like it's impossible to form a side biased opinion while playing opposite side or both side so those kind of statement is pointless too

On nightlight 3ks make up between 13 and 22% of the matches. Sure, 3ks with open gates happen, but aren't that common in my experience so I would expect the killrates to rise more than a few percent when turning most of the 3ks into 4ks.

People would die more and they probably wouldn't be happy about it. A 4k is also more dispiriting than a 3k, so I don't think that the change wouldn't affected anyone.

Obviously, that doesn't apply if a new method would be introduced that still makes it possible to escape alone (e.g. a 1vs1 like some people suggested) but the person I answered suggested a timer without hatch and that will definitly increase killrates.

People dying instead of escaping through hatches, is in my eye same thing

Game is lost, escape is nothing but a pity, you won't even rise MMR

Rise of killrate is meaningless when the amount of winning and losing matches doesn't change

It might change the feeling a little though, but then I'm not against fixing balance according to higher kill rate too

  • Anyone playing normally has a right to complain when someone decide to literally ruin the game for everyone by circumventing intended penalty, I don't get what you can't get

  • @SunaIIanu said:

I don't get what you mean, you think killrates wouldn't change without hatch?

And with adjusting the killrates, do you mean balance changes or do you mean using the new killrate as new target rate?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3774318#Comment_3774318

I don't see people playing for hatch often, but I do play a lot of SWF, so I might underestimate it.

You seem to care a lot about earning things. I don't understand that, luck is always influencing dbd and I don't see the issue with it, a 3k is a win just like a 4k. Not saying that hatch is the perfect solution, but as someone who has experienced hatch standoffs and 3man escapes at one gen left, I think the current version is fine. And the Killer seems to find it first more often in my experience. But since you wouldn't mind trading Killer nerfs for deleting hatch it's a fair opinion, even though I don't agree with it.

You could also argue from a horror trope standpoint having a last survivor escape makes sense, but that is imo a weaker argument.

You can just increase target kill rates to 61% or 62% even 65% depends on how much hatch changes introduce, actual gameplay doesn't really change anyway, so difference in target rate shouldn't affect anyone

  • @DH3206 said:

My guess is that they nerf it the way most people want: recharge during chase. Which is a bad idea, since that is basicly saying you need to give a hook state for free to the killer. Because, yes, you will go down eventually during a chase.

claiming "giving a hook state for free" for simply doing a chase is something I've never heard of

All you need to do is play normally instead of cowardly hiding all the time, that will regenerate tokens

  • @SunaIIanu said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3774025#Comment_3774025

The hatch spawns at the start of the match (there used to be a bug that it had collision while being invisible right from the start) so when it opens at somebody's feet it's just a coincidence.

Also, the hatch keeps the killrates a bit lower, if you add a mechanic like a timer, that will turn the majority of 3ks into 4ks the killrates will probably rise and that will probably lead to Killers nerfs.

I don't see the problem, not like BHVR can't adjust "target kill rate" according to those number changes, either

    The results won't change anyway

  • Not sure if it's a secret buff or a bug

  • @appleas said:

Some maps have deadzones where only one hook spawns, so once one Survivor dies on that hook, it's a permanent deadzone.

Instead of fixing hook spawns on said maps, devs decided to just make used up hooks respawn.

Because "fixing hook spawns" results in exact same complaint of "you can't wiggle out"

If the end result is exactly same, there is no reason not to choose easier fix

Most matches my teammates aren't even doing gens. I swear they're having a party somewhere or something.. 😭

Then all you need is skill based matchmaking, not basekit mechanics

I mean "my teammates are ridiculously incompetent so please make it possible to win with survivors who don't do gens at all", is rather ridiculous statement

  • You knew the game mode was extremely survivor sided just from looking at numbers, two killers can only do so much when survivors got literally anything they need with much fewer objective

As long as survivors simply do gens, pretty much any killers simply can't catch up, only strategy that barely works is tunneling

  • You can just slug, so it's fine for now

If they made something ridiculous like free unbreakable or forced hooks, that's like guaranteed hatch spawn so would be stupid

  • You have quite a strange definition of "greed", especially when you don't call survivors asking for free hatches "greedy"

You can't have a double standard like that, unless you don't care about how you looks from outside

  • @Chaogod said:

This is dumb. Survivors make up the most of the playerbase and spend the most money on the game.

Unrelated to anything said there, not like giving QoL to killers do anything against survivors

  • We'd have fun looking at 2v8 statistics after the end I guess

  • Chasing against huntress alone is never a problem because simple predrop can easily counter her without issues due to ridiculous amount of pallets, and then if killers decide to chase with two of them it's an auto win for survivors cause 7 people are doing gens

Definitely non issue, on top of those you are effectively REDUCING the variety by that, resulting in much more "every match has him or her" than now

By this logic old ultimate weapon and weave attunement are balanced, which you would be delusional to think so.

Weave attunement is nowhere near the power level of ultimate weapon, of course it is balanced

Just that it curbstomps any new players or bad solo players

  • He really wasn't that good from the beginning, of course he will be even worse with nerfs

  • @Skillfulstone said:

Survivor queues on 2v8 are almost non-existent (there's a reason why there's no Killer-exclusive challenges in the 2v8 tome that requires playing 2v8, it's unplayable if you don't have 15+ minutes to waste between every matches that are half that time, even BHVR are aware of how horrible the queue times are), rescuing people from cages happens organically and there's a good chance that at some point(s) a cage will spawn 10 feet from you so little gen time will be lost anyway.

Most challenges in the game require "throwing" by doing certain things that happen organically (unhook people, heal people, do gens, get in chases etc.) and some (opening/escaping through Hatch, using No Mither, destroying totems etc.) are actively pushing you to actually throw as doing those things is downright counterintuitive to escaping/helping your teammates. Uncaging a couple people isn't what I would really call throwing.

The point is you never get to achieve tome challenges if you are playing normally, because the amount required to do the challenge is ridiculous and other people will absolutely take your nearest rescue while you are playing seriously by running across entire maps, which also forces you to do same

One thing for sure: Basekit Unbreable JUST. CANT. HAPPEN! The game isn't made for this, so the sudden death mori can't be happening either. But a Finisher Mori when everyone is slugged and no one has any Unbreakable left? Sounds about right to me.

"when everyone is slugged and no one has any unbreakable left" still technically has a problem of immediately notifying the killers it's existence and letting them deal with it, though

I believe flat 1 min duration before the mori would be slightly better

  • @Akumakaji said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3773458#Comment_3773458

True, but in a normal game, if you play infinite T3 Myers, there is always the chance that one of the downed survivors has Unbreakable and will use it ince you pick up the last survivor. This happens all the time. With the PTB sudden mori mechanic the game ended before any unbreakbales or Flip Flop/Powerplays or potential Deliverances could be used, it was a true sudden death mechanic.

So while a comeback from a4 slug Oni in regular game isn't easy, there is at least a chance for it. Thats why I would link the reduced Finsher Mori mechanic to all this perks. If the survivors can potentially still turn this somehow arround, they stay slugged, but if they got no chances left, just end the game. In a way, its less of a tactical use and more like how the EGC prevents the game to be taken hostage, while not really offering a tangible benefit to the killer. Nearly always there is more then enough time to reset and run for the doors, and the timer barely comes into play.

With the PTB sudden mori mechanic game 3 survivors can still get to use unbreakable, and flip flop powerplays or deliverance doesn't work even on today simply because killer has no obligation to pick anyone up at all

I'm not opposed to simply giving them grace period instead of ridiculous things like basekit unbreakable, but any counter that is working today will work on PTB just fine so talking as if "there is no counter" is simply wrong

Yeah, because any perk that is stronger than slowdowns is usually busted.

luckily, the weave attunement doesn't even have 50% strength of any slowdown perks

  • Distortion does basically nothing against weave attunement, it's not even working as a counter

    This is a strange take

  • @Akumakaji said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3773445#Comment_3773445

The original finisher Mori had this sudden death mechanic where the game transitioned over to the Mori animation the very frame the last survivor hit the floor. That was held in check somewhat by the base unlimited unbreakable, but it made the game even MORE sweaty! Killers would try to down everyone while survivors were constantly picking themselves up, eliminating any pressure that a slug could pose, freeing all the survivors to just hug gens.

Some killers like infinite T3 Myers and Oni become real menaces under this system, and a good Oni could turn any game into a sudden death by the 2:30min mark, with basically no danger for themselves. And thats just uncool and no one liked that. Getting tabled by an Oni already feels brutal, but in this PTB, is was extremely savage.

That's the problem in basekit unbreakable

instant finisher mori never makes anything different to killers, infinite T3 Myers or oni is ALREADY a menace and a good oni CAN turn any game into a sudden death by the 2:30 mark RIGHT NOW without ANY PROBLEM AT ALL, with basically no danger for themselves EXACTLY AS TODAY

Any anti-slugging perks will just work fine because there is no reason you'll wait for it to activate in very last seconds, all it does is removing unnecessary slugging at the end and nothing else, LITERALLY nothing else

Killers don't move faster, don't hit faster, don't break faster, don't find suvivors faster, there is literally no actual benefit for killers in finisher mori

Basekit unbreakable on other hand is literally one of the strongest perk in the game, and now it's free basekit for everyone, of course this is ridiculous and excessively buff survivors

  • Why don't you sweat in PvP games, I think that doesn't makes sense

  • @Ayodam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3773426#Comment_3773426

You actually just lost me at the end of your first paragraph. You being a killer main doesn’t really matter here. The game shouldn’t end because four survivors are slugged, which is what happened during the finisher mori tests on PTB and why the idea at least in that iteration was scrapped. Killers would slug all four people at 5 gens, mori the last then the other three automatically died.

And exact same thing will happen in current game, actually there is fair amount of nurses doing that daily

Finisher mori doesn't make killers to down faster, doesn't make killers to break pallets faster, doesn't killers to move faster, doesn't do literally ANYTHING beside simply to stop killers from wasting 4 minutes of survivors, somehow people can't see things objectively and immediately throws a hissy fit because "it will buff slugging" which is in fact blatantly wrong

The only logical reason to oppose the idea is "Because survivors can't waste slugging killer's time for 4 minutes anymore", which is basically just a toxic survivor's perspective

  • @Ayodam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3773418#Comment_3773418

A game shouldn’t end automatically because four survivors are slugged. Killers should be punished in some way for this as it circumvents normal gameplay.

Slugging is absolutely a normal gameplay developer has put into the game, You really should rephrase your words to "because I heavily dislike slugging" instead of "circumvents normal gameplay" which is just objectively wrong

  • Did you know "after" is much more closer to the games in the past tho

Those scratch marks definitely got nerfed, intended or not, and it's now fixed to be "normal"

This is not a buff, I'd call it a bug fix even

  • @MaddieMage said:

I think it’s also funny how suddenly killer mains claim to care about how distortion affects other survivors in the match and that’s why it needs nerfed. “It’s hurting your teammates!” Now you care about the teammates and not your own kill count? Be for real.

Just think outside of box, what if they were actually not a "killer main" as you believe, and they actually do care about their own survival

Wow suddenly everything makes sense, just a little bit of smart thinking can easily negate that "funny" aspect

It is certainly true that when two survivors are left at the end, the killer's counterplay is to slugging one and looking for the other.
I understand why Killer insists on 4K.The hatch is an incomplete win, whereas the 4K is a complete win.It is also necessary to obtain achievements.

But that counterplay slowed the tempo of the match and unintentionally consumed time for both sides.
Killer essentially wins that match when he takes the 3K.
If so, it does not seem like healthy gameplay to spend so much time for the meager resistance of the survivors.

Well, I think the killer's sentiments are valid, and I think the hatch system itself needs some improvements in this regard.

Nothing in the game registers 3k as an "mission accomplished", literally everything from tomes to achievements to emblems ask killers to go for 4k, survivor shouldn't be given guaranteed hatch spawn unless we remove the NECESSITY for 4k

"essentially wins" is wrong when there is so much things that mandate you to go for 4k, it can be true for 2v8 but definitely not for 1v4

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    Forums being overdramatic again.

Nothing is overdramatic because basically every "tweak" on higher tier killer has been catastrophic for pretty much all the time. the probability is over 90%

  • Finisher mori doesn't make slugging any better or worse, and there is no way we should get basekit unbreakable

There is absolutely no reason why killers shouldn't be able to slug for 4k, especially when every single aspect of the game ask for 4k

  • @stanheights said:

I see what you mean, thanks. How could this be addressed then if they were to bring the mode back in the future? Insta-cage downed survivors maybe?

Honestly, basekit unbreakable mostly addressing this as is, but if it's really necessary insta cage after like 5 seconds wouldn't really hurt

Yes I can use it at least, that‘s the whole point. With distortion you can at least use gear head or multiple perks to burn tokens, but lightborn makes your build useless.

But then hiding will be useless by auras or certain killer powers, healing will also be useless by certain killer power, the list goes on

I think it's just that killers and survivors have different standard in this game

  • Killers are still progressing the game by lowering your bleedout timer without doubt

You can relatively reliable blind the killer with champion of light or at pallets and windows.

Against some killers, and the effect isn't that much impactful either

Well, at least you can use it I guess

My flashlight build cares, which I can‘t use for the whole match. It makes it very frustrating to play the match out and I want to …..

Lightborn in my opinion should make the time it takes to blind someone longer and it would probably have almost the same effect.

You still don't get to use it for the whole match against killers knowing how to look at the walls, though

Light born is B tier but then I believe flashlights builds are C tier even

I'm not in favour of a Distortion nerf and I've said so here before (for the record, I hardly ever use this perk). I honestly think it's fine and I happen to think that a lot of Killers complaining about it don't have any appreciation for the hide and seek aspect of the game. This game has to be able to cater to different play styles or it'll just become a looney tunes looping simulator and nothing else.

Why don't Killers run Discordance, Spies from the Shadows, Whispers, Surveillance or Call of Brine more often if Distortion bothers them that much?

Killers never have a time to play hide and seek beside slugging for 4k, of course they NEVER appreciate that aspect

  • Honestly I don't see much reason why people don't play him, he is 4.6 so not exactly worst to play as

Is he just weak or something

  • @Bloodwebs said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3773080#Comment_3773080

Because hug tech was a bug and not a mechanics, of course it can happen in any patches as it's just a bug fix

  • @Langweilig said:

Distortion should only recharge token slower, but not too slow. I doubt the devs will make a fair nerf. They did the same with Adre/UW, where they gutted it. They will probably also not listen to any of the feedback to it since they always make their perk changes regardless of feedback.

If they nerf distortion too much they have to hard nerf lightborn too, because his perk actually hard counters blinds while distortion actually got counterplay.

I mean, who cares when a nearly useless B tier perk gets nerfed, lightborn is honestly nothing but a QoL

  • It's a tunneling perk

So glad. Think i mentioned to you a few months back a rework would DEFINITELY be coming. Glad the devs listened to majority of the playerbase. There is so much they can do. Doesn't need to be a nerf, a complete rework would be great. The devs come up with amazing concepts for many other killers so I'm sure they will have no trouble with changing her

This is not a rework yet

I don’t believe this change had anything to do with survivors complaining about being slugged in hook dead zones. If the devs really meant to address slugging, they wouldn’t do it for the least common iteration of it.

It didn’t bother me personally when survivors ran into dead zones and were slugged. I guess other people felt differently about it playing killer.

I can't understand why it's so hard to understand the fact there was a survivors who was complaining being slugged in hook deadzone, and this will ALSO help them alongside killers who couldn't hook in dead zone

You keep repeating "If the devs really meant to address slugging" but it's already said multiple times that is not what devs are trying to address here at all, it's like you aren't trying to read anything and keep repeating same exact sentiment multiple times in hope for brute forcing it to others

1 … 7 8 9 10 11 … 31
