I just look at it this way: If anything it's really telling when it comes to the qualities the player behind the killer is lacking. To me they're exactly like that kid who feels the need to kick the guy already on the ground. Usually I pity them - cause in what sorry state of mind do you have to be for that - sometimes I'm just kinda disgusted. And sometimes I'm both.

I think you should understand game system a lot more when you make assumption of other peoples, you seems to be making ridiculous assumptions based on extremely biased point of view

Necessity for 4k is a design flaw and nothing else

Which maps are "so unfair" that your blood boils when you see an offering for it and you want to quit the game?

Does the same thing happen when you end up on that same map without an offering?

If yes: that map needs to be reworked.

If no: the problem is not the map, it's the psychological impact of seeing a map offering, you would be absolutely fine if you simply look away, or if they made map offerings hidden.

Map offerings have never been the problem, and I'm kinda sick of this fallacy at this point. They serve a valuable tool for game expression and are just as valid as any other offering, or your ability to choose which perks you use, or which character you play.

Plenty of people use them as purely aesthetic, some use them for the miniscule advantage they can sometimes offer, but they're really no different to other offerings that also give you an advantage such as Coins, Oaks, etc.

And if any individual map offering truly provides enouh of an advantage that its use is unfair, then the solution is to rework that map.

The best thing they can do, which they have started doing, is to add more maps to single-map realms. This gives you multiple options for each offering, reducing your chances of being sent to any specific map, but still preserving the aesthetic intent of the offering. If you have a 50% chance of a map sending you to a killer/survivor sided map, then that's really no different to getting any map at random.

Fixing map offering is thousand times easier than reworking maps which often ends up with worse maps, though

The truth is it's much more reliable, easier, and cheaper

  • What's the point of lights out when you have perks anyway

  • Killers learning teamwork, cool

No need to punish it, just learn teamwork on your side

Yes, I answered this already above. Scroll back and you will see. However, what we are talking about is whether or not there is a statistical issue or are these statistical outliers? Map Offerings are not a problem, nor have they ever been a problem. You have tools to try and mitigate them. You could also take your own advice and play custom games if you don't like the fact people might try to influence where you go. Statistically, you have a better chance (far better) of stopping a map offering if you try than they have of forcing it. You may indeed stop it, and then randomly get sent to that same map. It is ironic and funny, but very true.

I never understand why people get so passionate and want to die on some hill over these kinds of issues in the game. There are actual problems like hackers which deserve attention. Getting sent to a map you don't like now and then is just well, a nothing burger.

It's funny how you trying to downplay an opinion by "but meh hackers", 25k hours of dbd certainly did not taught you how to properly discuss things without falling into fallacy

The game is balanced to play without tunneling and camping. Myself and scores of other killers are proof of that. you DO NOT need to tunnel to win. If losing a match upsets you so much that you resort to tunneling/toxic behavior as your main tactic….thats just called being a sore loser and bad sportsmanship. I win virtually every match with my ghostface without tunneling or camping…and i have 0 gen regression perks. when i dont win its never less than a two kill. and its not "mmr" cuz as i said…i rarely ever lose and im a killer main with 3k hours. Its just that pressure + prediction is better than tunneling.

like yeah. tunneling and camping is an easy win. But by singling out a specific player and ruining their experience just for your benefit and lack of proper skill…is toxic. If you intentionally and repeatedly perform an action that you know is ruining the experience of others, that's toxic. Now this isnt the same as typical gamer rage when theyre losing, it is the intentional performance of actions that you know will significantly ruin the enjoyment of others. DBD is notorious for its ridiculously toxic community. So as players, do we not have a responsibility to help facilitate an environment that encourages enjoyment and health for all players? If losing a few matches means a happier community and results in a better balanced game, is it worth not tunneling?

The existence of things made specifically to counter tunneling or camping alone makes that opinion incorrect, game is clearly balanced around camping and tunneling in mind

Actually I was and I recall it blocking even four. So either I misremembered it or they updated it. Touche. :) Even so, I don't recall the last time in the last EIGHT YEARS that I ever saw a SWF put four of the same map offerings in. And between my various Alts I am approaching 25K hours. So, just how often are you seeing four of the same Map Offering put in? :)

Cool, please try to double check and actually learn the game before trying to call someone out, and I never said anything about how often it happens so please stop moving goalpost when you are proven wrong by official description

  • @Rumplestiltskin said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3777093#Comment_3777093

Yes you can. Learn the game. The offering that blocks map offerings blocks ALL of them. A SWF could all take the same map and your one offering would still block them. Learn the game before you start saying there is a problem or that you need something.

    sacward.jpg

Since you definitely aren't talking about this offering, there should be some special offering I don't know of, can you please teach me the thing I haven't learn yet?

I don't think I've ever seen that happen to me, honestly.

I've only seen it happen on twitter, and that was one single time in 4 years. Outside of that one instance I've never seen a Sac Ward get countered like that.

Doesn't change the fact there is no reason to have funny mechanics like that at all

  • And no one is talking as if this is happening every matches, how often is irrelevant

This is not necessary. If you wish to block Map Offerings you can ALREADY do that. Use the offering which counters all Map Offerings and you are set.

You still can't do anything against worst kind of users, the one who takes four of offering as a SWF

TCM is not the dead by daylight, and family is not the killer, that reply only makes me to believe you actually haven't played a single killer match ever

They are extremely cheap in sale anyway so I just don't see much problem, and even though you need a grind it's still "free" for original killers

Well, I guess we are done here.

I am no stranger to putting 10h/day into a single game. Though I really don't see how your playtime justifies accepting or even defending this monetization choice or the grind behind it. Then again there is a reason all this achievement-battlepass-megagrind is everywhere. Some greyed-out image suddenly has color which makes the player happy. Gameplay is secondary and actual game experience cannot be distinguished from the dopamine rush of pretty bars filling and numbers going up.

I'm not defending anything, I'm just the kind of person who can have fun in grinding

  • @alpha5 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3776476#Comment_3776476

feels like a accomplishment to [grind countless hours to be allowed to play the game properly]

Fat coping going on here. This game is pay2play but also has f2p monetization on top of it. If anything all unlicensed characters should be free and all (or most if they are feeling generous) skins should be bought with $$. The p1-everyone-for-perks-grind should be removed as well. This is the most hostile game I have seen so far. I will never recommend this game for the grind alone, nevermind the steep learning curve the game puts up no effort to help you with.

I'm the kind of person who plays 10 hours a day if needed, so obviously this isn't from the "normal" play style

  • @Pop_Goes_The_Gen said:

Why couldn't new original killers/survivors be free. Games like overwatch 2 are able to release new hero's for free while then making their money from a battle pass and cosmetic shop which DbD also has on top of having licensed killers/survivors AND the game having a $20 price tag. Atleast as time goes older original killer and survivors become free to all players which would help the new players to DbD

They are extremely cheap in sale anyway so I just don't see much problem, and even though you need a grind it's still "free" for original killers

Personally I think it's a progression and feels like a accomplishment to purchase a killer with iri shards, and feels quite cheap for buying licensed killer with 500 auric cells, but then not like those things are what makes game fun so I really don't have "problem" in making them free

I just don't think it's as necessary as shrine overhaul

Was about to say "BHVR can't make any money without those DLC" but I think that'd be a lie considering the amount of licensed killers and cosmetics, heh

  • @Kaitsja said:

I think the finisher mori is unnecessary. I think we could avoid problems like the 4-man slug by simply allowing survivors to bleed out faster, or even a slightly more complex unbreakable that requires another slugged survivor nearby to permanently convert part of their recovery progress to allow their fellow survivor to fully recover from the dying state.

From a UI perspective, this would look similar to the regression meter on a generator. So, Survivor A and Survivor B are both slugged within ~3 metres of each orher. Survivor A permanently converts 25% of their recovery progress to allow Survivor B to pick themselves up. This means that Survivor A can no longer recover beyond 70%.

What purpose is the finisher mori/last survivor standing system supposed to serve? As someone who occasionally plays killer and doesn't care at all about getting the 4k, I don't see a need for it. I enjoy being able to decide if I want to give the last survivor hatch or gate, and I also enjoy being able to have slug races. I don't want to see these positive interactions removed.

Give killers the Ivory (Green) mori basekit, and retire the other mori offerings. I think this alone is a much better idea than the finisher mori.

Finisher mori is far simpler and has much less impact in actual games than those "simple fix" though

  • Finisher mori without unbreakable will fix any of the toxic slugging problem, we really don't need complex or elaborate mechanics that buffs survivors for no reason

  • @VomitMommy said:

    Nurse, Singularity, Blight, Wesker?

Nurse definitely fits the most for this description.

Singularity can deal with hold w and pallet, but blight or wesker still have problems with pallets

  • Shrine of secret deserves to be "perk market" where you can buy a perk from anyone at any DLC, there is absolutely no reason it has to stay like current way when there is ridiculous amount of perks and perk balance is rather abysmal

Not to mention playing the game while not having any kind of bonus BP being effectively pointless, since there is so ridiculous amount of difference in BP gains

New killers/survivors have no reason to be free, though

  • I mean not that kind of "letting them know", but rather more intuitive things like big transparent effect or screen border color change or something like that, anyone should notice those obvious effect… right

  • I mean, not weird people don't do things that they do not enjoy, especially in games

So it's quite clear people are having fun in this kind of situation as long as they aren't afk, there is no reason to take away those fun things from the game

  • You have 20 seconds CD AOE sprintburst and somehow still "feels like a snail" huh, have you ever played a survivor before?

You even have an absolutely free pre nerf MFT

  • @drsoontm said:

I sometimes go against very green survivor players.

They almost always do the same things:

    • They try to hide, crouching behind a wall … when I'm waiting right on their back.
    • They violently enter lockers, again, to hide, notifying their position.
    • They stay on gens and ignore friends hooks.
    • They miss skill-checks a lot.

I'm not sure there is a reasonable way to help them.

The game could maybe insist on making them play killer as it's obvious they have no idea how the killer tracks them.

Good players play both sides anyway.

I think first step would be letting them know when they made a loud noise which can be seen, because afaik game doesn't even tell what is silent and what is not in current state

same goes for scratch marks, kinda

  • Honestly LGBTQ+ is already kinda controversial by itself, if something controversial is really against the rules they shouldn't have done any branding around it, even though I believe it's a good thing to going for those things

  • I'm not sure if messing with tiles are correct way to buff killers

  • I mean, aren't both killers and you having fun in those situations?

Killers are having fun in finding sneaky survivors, survivors are having fun in trying to be as stealthy as possible whether they are slugged or not

I generally won't try to hide once slugged as that feels like waste of time, but I'm always having fun when trying to find last survivor or walking around the corner in hope of not being found

Finally someone that understands. Some people don't seem to realise that 2 killers chasing together is way more efficient than splitting up. Like, how isn't it?

Because survivors can still do so many things and there is enough way to waste time of killers, and chasing together generally wastes more time in finding survivors

If you ONLY look at the chase of course it's faster, but game isn't just about SINGLE chase

It's only efficient when killer gets looped, so basically a help for new players, trying to counter such a strategy never makes sense

  • game has been notably easier for new players largely around hooks, and information of icons

If anything, killer has been stronger but nothing of the "difficulty" has been exactly changed

  • Not that it bothers me but this sure seems like a double standards on BHVR

Do you realize the implications that are made when people criticize FNAF this way? Its like saying the entire FNAF fanbase are bigots or anti lgbt for playing a FNAF game or supporting it in any way. That is why this level of criticism is irrational.

I don't see anything wrong in that, because that's literally how money flows in there

knowingly or unknowingly those who gives money to a person through literally anything is supporting that one specific person, that's just an objective fact so no amount of arguing or excuse or disagreement can deny that one fact

the point should be if that person ACTUALLY has that one opinion or not, and whether he uses money to it or not, questioning "support" is pointless because it is just a fact

  • @KateMain86 said:

I've said this before on another issue like this. It was a long time ago so I don't remember exactly what the situation was but I remember it being related to lgbt and people complaining about it. I basically stated how the criticism wasn't fair, which is the same way I feel about this. BHVR has gone out of their way to show a lot of support to the lgbt community and I feel like these emotionally charged criticisms are unfair to them.

I don't feel any unfairness in this kind of opinion and I feel blatant bias from your wording, if you said same thing a long time ago, all that tells me is you've been disliked those kind community for longer time, at least that would be my interpretation

No matter how they "show a support", it doesn't matter when they also show the support for opposite (not sure if it's true this time but whatsoever) opinions, because that'll make the "support" they shown looks like nothing but a corporate advertisement program

Don't get me wrong as I don't feel anything towards the way BHVR do things, beside some unfairly nerfs, but I don't blame anyone for feeling like they've been cheated

while i'm on the topic of someone being obvious about the way people are speaking to me and letting the mask slip ever so slightly, here's another one.

"no matter how much they do in support of the lgbt community, it will never be enough".

    this sentence is a dogwhistle.

i did not reach out to bhvr and ask for them to support us. they reached out to me and showed me support. then, they announced a collaboration with someone who hates queer people, which i am. this has upset me, rightfully so, and i am justified in being upset about this, because - again - bhvr reached out to me. not the other way around.

sentences like this carry the implication that we, the angry queers, are holding the studio hostage and forcing them to bow to us. to venerate us and to do what we say. this is a common queerphobic narrative that is seen frequently during pride, where bigots rally together to tell corporations to stop supporting us because we are trying to control the world, or something.

the objective here is to characterise us as being irrational or unjustified about being upset.

everybody on this forum needs to keep a sharp ear out for dogwhistles. there are loads of them in this thread.

Not sure if that's a dogwhistles tbh, "it will never be enough for them!" seems to me nothing but a rather aggressive and taunting attitude, It is quite an antagonistic way to argue and which is really obvious for anyone reading it

Both killers chasing a survivor does not waste any of their time, as they'll get the down in about 5 seconds. It's actually more effective.

Killers in this mode also get regular aura reading and a variety of abilities, such as being Undetectable if they're near a Wraith.

The mode is actually pretty balanced. It's just whichever team is better sided.

You are adding endurance and it'll rob more seconds from both killers, so endurance is effectively working against entire killer team, you are literally asking for same thing as team wide expose, that's how ridiculous how your suggestion is

Not like any of the power or addons are as strong as survivor counterpart, too, they are equivalent or worse version of perks/addons in normal mode, unlike survivor power which is FAR better version of survivor perks

Calling the mode "balanced" is plain wrong, if both side has same skill in normal matches survivors will win 100% of the time in 2v8 due to sheer imbalance in it's core features, it's only balanced by survivors not even trying to win

  • basekit kindred or at least a class with kindred, rescue is the biggest problem in solo survivors on 2v8

  • @Tyler3 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3775209#Comment_3775209

All survivors being exposed because a killer's AFK is a little bit more drastic than 1 survivor receiving Endurance for being chased by both killers at the same time.

Survivors deserve a little compensation if they're being chased by 2 killers, regardless of if other players are actually repairing gens or not. Basekit Overcome and Endurance is a fair treatment, as otherwise, being chased by both killers will result in you being caged within 10 seconds.

People are saying that it's bad if 2 killers chase a single survivor, because other survivors will just gen rush (which is mostly false). Well, if the killers that always chase together knew that it's harder to down a survivor they're both chasing, maybe one of them would actually leave to patrol gens instead, like everyone seems to recommend for them.

It's just as drastic as 1 survivor receiving endurance because you are wasting two killer's effort at once, survivor don't deserve any kind of compensation because game is already extremely tilted towards survivors by 20 seconds AOE sprintburst, scout aura view, 2 less gens to do than basegame, cage "anti tunneling", all that

If game was actually balanced or fair as normal games it MIGHT makes sense, but it's not, survivors are already compensated by ridiculous powers and mechanics, there is absolutely no reason to punish killers for their teamwork

This is exactly why I said before that no matter how much they do in support of the lgbt community it will never be enough. They're not taking back their support for the lgbt community because FNAF is coming to DBD. This collab is not a statement on their views and values. Its purely business and nothing more. While I believe game developers shouldn't use their products to promote their stances on things like this, it by no means should inhibit them from putting the growth and prosperity of their business first.

I mean, this is prime example of how an extremely survivor sided games still results in "fair" statistics thanks to "average" skill level of the game, huh

1 … 6 7 8 9 10 … 31
