Personally, I dont care if the event gives me an edge over someone or not, I just dont want to feel like I'm throwing the match when I want to do the event. Last night I played a few matches as a killer and tried to play around with the event mechs but I was the only one doing so. All the survivors did in those matches was sit on gens and got out bc I was busy doing side objectives. I had one match where I got one single hook and depip bc I did event mechs. It's not the event that doesnt give me an advantage in the match its the fact that doing the event at all is a disadvantage. You either have to play the match normally or play for the event and hope the other side is too otherwise you going to get competely stomped and have no fun. Losing isn't fun, and it's a normal human emotion. Every single human in the world has little combativeness to them and dont want to lose and want to win, that's why humans play sports and pvp games. It's not a psychological issue it's a normal human action to be competitive.

Fact is, you can't pick your opponents. If one side is focused on a 4k or escape while the other is focused on the event, then yeah, the game is probably a loss for the latter. Coordinated teams can genrush in a matter of minutes. If a killer had time to do event objectives AND apply gen pressure AND hook and kill all survivors in a matter of minutes, then what hope would non-coordinated, non-genrushing teams have of getting anything done?

If a team is genrushing and you want a 4k, then yeah, unfortunately you'll probably have to pick how you spend your time. BHVR can't force people - survivors or killers - to participate in the event.

Fun for a day, maybe, but this event is running for almost 3 weeks. If I have no reason to engage with the unique event mechanics for that long, then what's the point of having the event at all?

It runs that long so that everyone has a chance to play. Lots of people may only have weekends available, for example, to spend on games.

  • First, alot of people here have consistently asked for depipping to not be a thing anymore. So that's a whole other issue.

But re the event, look at it this way - if a killer has time to smash pumpkins, deposit energy, mess with the void/haunts, etc, as well as apply adequate gen pressure, and hook and kill survivors for a 4k, in the space of time it takes a coordinated team to genrush (minutes), then what hope would a non-coordinated, non-genrushing team have of getting *anything* done?

Games go alot smoother when both sides are messing with event objectives, but unfortunately you can't pick your opponents. So if one side doesn't want to mess with the event then the other side may need to make a choice. Either you focus on the event or you focus on a 4k/escape.

I first mained Claudette so Botany Knowledge and Hope confused me a lot.

    • In Hope’s perk description it says “it gives you wings” I actually thought it gave you wings so I was so sad when I found out it didn’t.
    • In Botany Knowledge it says that “plants around the campfire help with healing” so I went around the map crouching and trying to look for the plants for that extra speed unknowingly that I already had it.

I was the same with Botany Knowledge. I remember I avoided using the perk because it sounded like too much work, having to find plants lol

I thought it was funny catching a Dwight in the void as pyramid head. I wondered where he would go if I put him in a cage at that point but he was on death hook so no idea.

Powers don't work in the void so you might not have been able to cage him

  • My games have been pretty good, thankfully. Played 2 killer games but just played for hooks and got my challenges done, then played about 16 survivor games and only had 2 sweaty killers (a Blight and a Pig). 2 escapes, though both killers were chill and playing for hooks as they didn't try kill us or stop us leaving. The rest all got 3/4ks but spread the hooks out, so everyone left with decent bp.

  • If one side is focused on event objectives and the other side is not, then obviously the latter will likely win. You can't expect to spare time messing with the Void and still win over the side that didn't spare time messing with the Void. And that goes for killers and survivors. It'd be nice if everyone wanted to mess around with the Void but that's simply not the case unfortunately. If you definitely want to win, then ignore the Void. If you're trying to get a Halloween tome challenge done then you're probably better off not expecting to win.

  • The complaints happen during every Halloween and Christmas event. I think too many people expect to have their cake and eat it too - if you spend your time messing with the Void/event objectives, and the other side doesn't, then you'll probably lose the game. The best games I'm having are those where both sides are messing with the Void, it's actually quite fun.

Good for you. My experience has been sweaty team after sweaty team that just cranks gens as fast as they can and abuses MFT to get to portals before I can reach them, dive into portals, and then immediately teleport out of the same portal. If you have any degree of slower ping than them, the time it takes you to duck in and out of the void after them means they're long gone.

On paper this event sounds AWESOME! And if survivors were playing it the way you describe, it would be. But in my experience, it's just been miserable and really highlights the most busted survivor side perks like MFT, Hope, Adrenaline, etc.

Props to the artists who designed the pumpkins at least. Those are cool.

I've been playing mostly survivor today and it takes way too long to enter and exit a void in a chase. Every time I've tried I've gotten hit or downed.

  • @luvcraft said:

From the description I thought the void was gonna be like the Upside Down, where everything was the same but spooky, and I could move around there and use some kind of cues to figure out where people are? But, uh... nope.

I didn't expect it to be so small, but chases in there are quite fun

  • Probably coming on the 24th with the Blighted cosmetic release

It's 15 per challenge with a few free 50 nodes, and you get 200 for finishing the tome

Cheers, yeah I've seen that. Was hoping there was more ways to earn trinkets in each game though, not just the 15 from the challenge. But I've seen now some challenges give 30, not just 15, which is nice.

  • This hasn't been my experience at all. My games have all been so chill. I'm really enjoying the event.

Edit: spoke too soon. Just had a P100 Blight playing like his life was at stake. But 1/9 survivor games, still not bad.

  • @Dogma_loki said:

Leave it to killer mains to try to ruin a fun event for everyone else with the non stop sweating.

I only have a sample size of 8 games but so far I've had no sweaty killers. They've all gotten 4k but they've been chill, no tunnelling or camping. Had a fun chase with a Knight (never thought I'd say that lol) in the void.

  • Survivors are NOT doing gens and getting out lol I'm 8 survivor games in and everyone's dead at multiple gens because survivors are doing exactly what killers are doing instead of doing gens. And I'll add that it doesn't bother me - it's an event, and it's a nice change of pace having these other objectives

  • Yeah they've been bad for awhile

  • So I just finished my first game and challenge and got 15 dark trinkets. Is this the only way to earn them? I can't get more than that per game?

  • I'm in Western Australia and both killer and survivor are super fast for me

Or…. How about we make it an option?

A lot of people don’t want prestiges hidden. It’s not even a dodge thing. I grinded to p100. Why would I want it hidden?

I think the amount some of y’all on here complain about “being dodged” is dramatic. Being p100 isn’t super uncommon or scary anymore. Everybody has got high prestige characters now. I’ve got p100’s in nearly every single killer match, if not more than 1.

They're not being dramatic. I don't have any higher prestige survivors yet I get matched with a fair few P100s, or close to, everyday and the dodging is absolutely predictable. Nothing to the extent of 15 minutes (perhaps those stories are indeed exaggerated) but there is definitely dodging. And the ones that don't tend to target the higher prestige ones.

  • I thought it was just me haha if I'm having a bad day I'll play Thalita, Nea, or Jake because I swear my games go so smoothly with those 3.

  • Have you logged into your BHVR account to check the status of your items? Even if you claimed them on Twitch, there could be something stopping them from transferring to your game. I had to re-link my accounts a couple times through my BHVR account before all of mine transferred. They transferred immediately once I did.

  • I played without sound on and wondered how the other survivors always knew in advance that the killer was coming.

I also watched too many streamers who made it look easier than it was, so I'd just copy them and race across the middle of the map like I was carefree on vacation. Occurred to me pretty quickly that if i wanted to last longer in the match, I should try and avoid the killer sometimes and not just run right up to them.

  • Depends on what you mean by mastered, but in general yeah, i would agree. I'm at around 1500 hours and I'd say I'm intermediate. There are some regulars here who tend to often call for nerfs or changes to make things easier for them, and they're in the few hundred hours range. I do think people have an expectation to do good in this game very quickly, but it rarely works out like that. I anticipate that by the time I hit 3k hours, I'll be as good as I'm gonna get at the game.

  • I get quite a few Demos, and I also play him myself every now and then. Twins are pretty rare though.

  • I just had a survivor game where I couldn't even last like 5 seconds in chase. Came right after a game where I ran the killer all over the map until they decided to just ignore me for the rest of the match. This game feels like it often goes from one extreme to the next. You either run all over your opponents, or they run all over you. The latter absolutely makes you feel like you're a new player all over again. Those middle ground matches, where it feels like a fair fight, are so rare.

  • I had a couple days last week where the DCing and letting go on hook was nuts. It was just constant. In the past I've never had issues, and thankfully the last few days have been fine again. Dunno what was going on. The only times I usually see DCs or letting go is if someone is being tunnelled, but last week there was none of that.

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲ ▼

I dont want to nitpick, but it should be 32.5% for Solos and 47.5% for Swf. Which the gap between them would be 15%.

Nitpicking is fine, I'm no mathematician!

Tbh, in that case I would expect them to be matched with better killers no? At least that's what should be happening anyway.

I would expect escape rate to still be 40% if the game matched you with survivors and killers around your skill-level. But that would be for solos. (escape rate for solos is obviously much lower atm) Obviously for SWF it might be a different number, but that's all the more reason we should not be mixing up SWF stats with solo stats, it's not genuine. There should be more transparency on BHVR's side.

They've said that playing in a swf can increase your chances of escaping by up to 15%. So if survivors have an escape rate of 40%, and that includes swfs, then I'd put solo at around 25% average escape rate.

  • This would just widen the gap between solo and swf even more. There are blindness perks that killers can use to hide downed and hooked people temporarily.

  • I'm not sure why either... it's just dead zones now

  • I'd say I'm a bit of a lone wolf atm. I used to be very altruistic, and my builds would reflect that, but I think solo queue has jaded me. Currently using WoO, Overcome, Calm Spirit, and OTR (for combined Iron Will + Distortion benefits). I feel like I can't rely on team mates anymore. Literally just left a game where 3 of us were on death hook and the Leon, who hadn't been hooked once, was on a gen with me and bolted ahead as the killer came. Like come on, take aggro.

  • @Dogma_loki said:

The problem with Predator is he isn’t your typical “killer”.

They hunt for the love of it, not for evil intentions. In Alien VS Predator, Scar (the main Predator in the movie) saves the heroine multiple times, including impaling the Queen Xeno through the head with his spear at the end.

Not exactly the actions of an inherently evil creature.

They'd just create lore around it. The entity corrupted it, or promised it freedom once it did its bidding, etc. It could be a rogue Predator, exiled from the others.

Plague isn't inherently evil either, and the case could be made for Trapper too, who was heavily abused iirc. Pyramid Head shouldn't even really be in the game, since he's a manifestation of James' guilt and only he is supposed to see him.

  • Have you tried on a different browser? Also if it's the platform linking you're having trouble with, is it possible you have an old email/BHVR account that you're already linked to? The error messages seem to suggest that might be the case

That;s what every killer says when they decide to de-stress from killer by playing survivor. If I played survivor 90% of the time and came here and said "when I play killer I don't face any amount of toxicity and my games seem pretty good but I just farm and 8 hook everyone and survivors are nice to me" I don't think you'd take my opinion on the state of killer very seriously now would you? Even if it was true for my personal experience, it wouldn't tell the whole story for the average killer.

This is true, and actually why I tend to stay out of killer discussions. I play killer but only minimally. I'm likely still in low MMR, and so I feel my experience probably doesn't resonate with those who play killer most of the time. I do feel like alot of the survivor experience and feedback gets derailed, or dismissed, by those who play majority killer role. It's unfortunate. I don't think you're wrong at all to point that out.

  • I've only played against 2 so far and they both 4k'd with multiple gens still to go. So at least a couple of people have adapted just fine.

  • Try this - log into your BHVR account, select DBD, then Manage Twitch Drops. Scroll down past the items and make sure everything is still linked. I had to re-link a couple times. It could also be why your charm isn't showing up, if something isn't linked properly then it'll show as Pending on that page.

  • If it helps you, then use it. It's what perks are there for.

  • "If I am matched with other players of my skill level, I win 70-80% of matches. But currently I escape maybe 30-40% of them"

This is why the matchmaking is bad. It's by design. Devs aim for around 60% kill rate for killers, and 40% escape rate for survivors. Now say you go and find yourself a swf. You're bypassing the bad matchmaking and finding people more on par with yourself skillwise, which increases your escape rate. To supplement your more frequent wins, others have to die to keep escape rates low and kill rates high. Hence, we get purposeful bad matchmaking in solo. The devs aren't likely to improve matchmaking for that reason.

Why not just buy the extra skin via the store as usual? Why do they need to create bundles which would confuse the general playerbase?

Because a skin costs 1080 auric calls ($15AU for me), so buying the DLC and then a skin from the store costs more than the current DLC + cosmetic bundle.

    @MikeStev said:

Most people buy a DLC just for the character, if you put in a skin and increase the price of DLC people will mad, its like you force them to buy skin.

Thats the actual problem, not about comparing which more worth it buy it via DLC or Store.

That's why OP is asking for both options. The DLC alone, with no cosmetic, for those who don't want it. But also to keep the current DLC cosmetic bundle for those of us who like getting the cosmetic with the chapter for a few extra bucks.

  • I actually posted the same request yesterday. So just throwing in my support. More value for money having the additional cosmetic, so both options would be nice.

  • Yeah I agree. No worries!

    @[Deleted User] said:

How do you even claim them? It says I have them but I don't see anyway to get them in my game.

Log into your BHVR account, select Dead By Daylight, then the Manage Twitch Drops option. You'll see the rewards listed then, and they'll say In Progress if you haven't met the requirements, Pending if something is preventing them from reaching your account, or Collected if they've been sent to your game. If Pending, then scroll down and make sure everything you need is linked - Twitch account (I had to link it twice today to get mine to send), and Platform.

  • Well I thought so at first. But your "just a little reminder that this perk is not as good as some people claim it would be" comment made me a bit unsure what you were trying to say

I'm in this camp. I prefer getting the cheaper DLCs without outfits but I know some people preferred the slightly more expensive ones with the outfits included, so having the choice would be the best of both worlds.

I agree with that, would be nice to have a value bundle of sorts with the chapter releases.

I might pop a post up in the feedback section. Can't hurt, they might consider it.

  • @Tsulan said:

Honestly, i don´t get the idea behind twitch drops. You get a skin if you "watch" instead of playing yourself.

Do people really watch twitch for several hours? Or are they only muting the channel and setting it to 160p while they play?

I think they can be earned over the next couple weeks. So as long as you watch 3 hours total over 2 weeks you can claim it. I had it running on my laptop earlier while I did housework.

  • @OrangeBear said:

Also something else they announced at the start of the stream, chapter packs are going away. So future DLCs are going back to the old format. Pleasantly surprised by this.

I kind of wished they made this optional, though I know I'm in the minority. The chapters may have increased in price with the inclusion of a cosmetic, but if buying separately it'll now cost more - 1080 auric cells/$15AU for the cosmetic alone. It'd be nice if they had the chapter alone for sale, as well as the chapter with a cosmetic for the few bucks extra.

  • Doesn't work on mobile, I had the same issue. Not sure if that was intentional on BHVRs part or not. Ended up getting the laptop out and it worked.
