  • I don't think most people will ever enjoy going against her, no matter what changes they make, because there's always an assumption now that the person playing her will be unpleasant. Ultimately she's one killer out of over 30, I think at this stage you just persevere when you get her. I can't see the devs putting more time and resources into her.

  • @KateMain86 said:

Survivors often give up in situations like this, but also don't like rewarding the killer in a hopeless situation. Gens required to power the exit gate should scale based on how many survivors are left. 2 survivors needing to do 4 gens to escape isn't worth it, and will rarely end well for them. The game can change too quickly in favor of the killer, so there needs to be balance in this regard.

I don't think the scenario in question has much to do with "punishing" the killer. I think it's more survivor vs survivor at that point. They're both hoping to outlast each other.

  • It used to really piss me off when team mates would let go on hook. I'm kind of indifferent to it now. I very very rarely let go on hook, but when I do it's because of team mates. If people don't want to play the game properly then I'm not interested in playing with them. Some things that annoy me and make it oh so tempting to let go - team mates crouching in a corner too scared to come unhook despite the killer chasing someone else on the opposite side of the map, team mates prioritising gens and letting you go second stage on first hook, and the opposite when they simply don't touch gens at all. I've also given up in the middle of chases before when I'm injured on death hook, and run into a team mate who is healthy and only been hooked once or never, and they run off instead of taking a hit for me. I already know I'm not escaping that match, I'm just actively buying time for my team mates, but if they behave like that then I'll take my time to the next game.

  • OTR should do the job alone - maybe even add Lucky Break as any charges left will help cover blood pools. The only problem I've found in tunnelling games is the survivor who unhooked you following you for the heal. When I unhook someone who is being tunnelled, I'll let them run off while I try muddy the waters with my scratch marks by running in circles all over the place, and then running in a different direction once the killer has line of sight on me. The actions of team mates play a better role in preventing tunnelling imo.

EGC should start after 15 min, leading to the end of a round after about 17-19min mark

Nothing more annoying than a loooong DbD game

The game currently shuts down after 60 minutes. I'd wager very very few people would be upset if they dropped it down to 30 minutes. I feel like 30 minutes is extremely generous.

I refuse to play hide and seek. if its 4-5 gens and its just me and another person then I often will go to the killer, sadly though they just want to slug and leave you to bleed out while the other survivor just sits in a corner.

That's the sucky thing. If the other survivor is hiding, I'll always plant myself on a gen because i don't want to play hide and seek. But there's a good chance doing so just leaves you slugged on the ground. It's a lose-lose situation either way.

  • If they had to be super accurate in matchmaking, then queue times would probably be crazy long. If they were a bit looser in matchmaking, then people would dodge if their opponent/s had even a slightly higher mmr value than them.

sorry to bring this up, but does that mean that those limited time skins will be forever gone if you miss it?

    They'll be back next Halloween

  • I keep stats on all my games, including campers and tunnellers (purely out of curiosity). There's a tunneller approx 1 in every 12 games, and there (was) a camper approx 1 in every 15 games. Killers win the majority of my survivor games. I feel like plenty of killers do fine without those strats. So while I agree they're effective, and if you feel you need to use those strats then use them, I dont agree they are a "must."

  • Any Means is about resetting loops, Alert is about knowing where the killer is, and Windows is about knowing what pallets haven't been thrown down or destroyed. I don't use MFT, so can't speak on that combo, but I think the sudden popularity of WoO has more to do with solo queue getting harder to tolerate and players feeling like they can only really rely on themselves now. I've been playing for 3 years and for 2.5 of those years I never even considered WoO as part of my build. It had zero appeal to me. It's recently become a staple, I use it often. I can't say exactly what has changed, as after 2.5 years I've got alot of map knowledge up my sleeve already so it's not about that.

I've also theorised before that the recent cutting down of pallets in map reworks may be playing a role too. When there aren't alot of pallets to begin with, and alot more dead zones, people want to know in advance exactly what they have to work with.

I dislike nightlight. Its not a reliable source of information:

I agree, that Hyperfocus isnt used that often, but that doesnt make the perk less dangerous / problematic. Its impossible to differentiate a hacker from a legit player that uses Hyperfocus.

I agree re Nightlight, but the community at large seems to feel it's accurate enough so I've given up arguing the point.

I personally don't think that hackers should play any role in determining whether a perk is healthy or not. I couldn't imagine calling killer aura perks, for example, problematic because hackers like to use them to cover wall hacks.

If BHVR were to ever take hackers into account when making decisions around perks, you can bet killer perks would also be on the chopping block. There was a killer gen hack last time (possibly still around, it enabled them to basically set their own regression %) that many used gen regression perks to cover up. Does that make Pain Res, Pop, Jolt, etc, unhealthy for the game? The majority of the community do the right thing, and the game shouldn't be changed to accommodate the bad behaviour of a minority.

  • Not you specifically, I said the community likes to use it as a reference point so I will too for the sake of this discussion. But my point was that Hyperfocus isn't a commonly used perk, so I don't think it's safe to conclude that hackers are using it as a cover for their cheats.

The thing is that DBD of today is a far cry from the DBD two years ago, and not for the better, as we all know.

Yeah, hard-core tunneling at 5 gens ain't much fun for the killer, but it's way more fun then the alternative: getting a sub 4min game because the survivors slammed gens like there is no tomorrow.

BHVR will likely never acknowledge this, but the introduction of SBMM and the MMR system killed old DBD. It introduced a kind of sweat and competitive into the game that was unheared of before and it never stopped since.

Someone commented on their 10ys old nice getting a 4k or @Nazzzak 6ys old getting a 1k. I think this is adorable and they are definitely very bright and precious kids, but there is no way in hell that they would have gotten any kind of success in he games I had to endure of late; at least not on my main, eith whom I maintain somewhat of a 75-80% win rate.

Yeah, MMR ain't working probably, but with Pyramidhead I am matched with hard-core SWFs way more then with anyone else and it really shows. Without tunneling these games would be over in sheer minutes, everyone sticks to their gens like glue and mercilessly hugs then like their live depends on it, and even a very quick first chase and down with lethal won't give me so much as a 1s respite. I either press that advantage or let 3 gens pip in unison. And I am kinda trapped in that playstyle: Pyramidhead is my main and the killer I usually use to climb grades, but that also means that 8/10 games are extremely sweaty, every know and then the game throws a group of potatoes at my feet and I have no means go detect this, until I am suddenly at my 5th hook at 4 gens remaining.

Then I might slow down, but for most of he time I am stuck in mostly high pressure games with him, and that's a direct correlation of MMR and SBMM. What could I do differently? Purposefully lose my next 20 games to drop out? And what then? If the game matches me against casual players I would eat them up once I started playing serious again.

MMR is somewhat doing its job, but by doing so it has transformed DBD from a goofy fun party game onto a Sloppy, unbalanced, competitive nightmare held together by curses, toxicity and balance bandaids. The players long ago optimised the fun out of the game, so both sides know that tunneling and gens before friends is dbd way to success. And you can't make he community unlearn this tactics. You can only change the game and its rules.

"Unbalanced" is accurate. I was actually in the minority when SBMM was first implemented. I felt that it was a change for the better. But something has changed in recent times, I'm 100% positive that they're consistently tweaking it because there's no more middle ground in my games anymore. Either I steamroll my opponent, or they steamroll me. I recall more balanced games a couple years ago.

Also, I want to add, that my story about my 6 year old wasn't intended as any sort of reflection on the current state of the game. I doubt she has any skill or legitimately earned that 1k, chances are more likely that person chose to sacrifice themselves.

Then need i unlink my xbox account from my BHVR acc to link with the new acc?

You can try but I think the rewards will still show up as claimed in your current BHVR account. You might need to make a new one.

  • Best bet is probably to make new BHVR and Twitch accounts and do it all over again, this time connecting your PC account.

They can and are seen as toxic behavior by many. Everyone is allowed their own perspective. No need to invalidate someone's feelings. OP did not say it's a fact but rather that they feel it's toxic.

Being tunneled for 3.5 hours must be very frustrating, and one must question why continue playing if that's considered acceptable game play. Idk about you, but I play games for fun, and I'd rather endure another EMG and NVC torture test then deal with that junk.

As my mom says when she hears us playing in a sarcastic manner, "your game sounds fun!"

It needs to be unrewarding and 3vs1 needs to become stronger, because doing something so easy should he a free win.

Like I keep saying on this forum, if my 10 year old niece can get 4Ks without tunneling, then that tells me everything I need to know.

Haha this reminds me - I always leave the game running inbetween matches, and about a month ago I went to have a shower and came out to my husband cackling. He told me my 6 year old (who I had played a Demo game for before I had my shower as she loves watching "the monsters") told him she played a game when i left. I didn't believe him until I went into the theatre room and saw the post-game stats ๐Ÿคฃ the brat did play and she got a 1k. I dunno the circumstances, if the person just let go on hook or maybe gave her a kill, but I wished I had anonymous mode on because I'm sure she brought shame on my account ๐Ÿ˜…

  • Is it the weekend where you are? I find weekends in general to be pretty sweaty. The first couple of days of the event were fine, in my experience

Yes, but you can figure them out. Hyperfocus doesnt have that option.

Since everyone loves referring to Nightlight, Hyperfocus has a 1.3% pickrate (which is less than it was a few months ago, when it was 1.7%) so I don't think people are using it to cover cheats anyway.

  • Everyone has different tastes. I'm sure there's some killers I find boring that others absolutely love. Sometimes you just need to put up with the boring matches.

    Agree!

I think hens posted a video about a killer player cheating in a tournament?

I feel like there arent many perks on killer that make it hard to see if they are cheating. Maybe play with your food?

Aura perks. I used Distortion back when there was a big influx of cheaters (the stream sniping period) and pretty much all the killers using wall hacks would try and cover it with BBQ&Chilli.

  • It's not an effective camp at all. Just watch the guard and then run in for the unhook. Unhooking gets rid of the guard.

  • Have they said if we are getting a map with the killer?

  • I'll get one or two within a couple hour period

  • I'll add that I was against a Blight both times when my game has frozen and DC'd. Not sure if it's killer related but seeing as others have mentioned Dredge I thought I'd share.

nope I thought the same time still get the hits. You do vault faster but your hitbox still has to keep up.. I had a game last night the killer knew this and got all 4 of us on vaults. You vault take a few steps he swings your down a mile away from the window. Downed so far from the window he would have to vault and get you.

You don't have any hook states, so the optimal play is for the other survivor to get sacrificed before you get placed on a hook, so that you don't have a chance to 4%.

It was unnecessary for the killer to repeatedly hit the hooked survivor, but it was also unnecessary for the hooked survivor to keep hitting their skill checks, because the killer obviously was going to stand there until the hooked survivor gets sacrificed.

They also nodded at and humped us on the ground before hooking, hence why I'm so close to bleeding out, so i sincerely doubt they were just hitting on hook because they were waiting for her to die. I also never even got hooked, I died from bleed out.

  • Why do people behave like this? We literally did nothing wrong or toxic

    https://streamable.com/rxyf40

  • Just got reminded why I don't play on weekends ๐Ÿ˜‚ two games in and killers were very very sweaty. Decided to ignore the event for the next game (against a pretty chill Knight tbh, but I was a bit determined after my previous two games) and just focused on gens, and hey, finally had an escape lol

It's more that I got so frustrated with this challenge that I quit playing the game for a month until the event dropped and then started the re-suffering when I came back.

I went clockwise through the tome and did this challenge last. Just keep it on and you'll get it naturally eventually.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

    This is blatant speed hacks.

And the fact that people are confusing this with MFT is a massive tell that MFT is unhealthy for the game.

Tbf, killers have been using aura perks to cover wall hacks for years. It's not much different.

  • Best tell is the blood pools. If they're suddenly spread out more/less close to each other in certain parts (usually when out of your line of sight) then it's probably a speed hack.

  • I've played for 3 years and disconnects are rare in my games. Multiple disconnects in one game are even more rare. Are you really facing full bot teams that often that you need compensation? The only time I've seen multiple DCs is when the killer is behaving exceptionally unpleasant but you don't seem like an unpleasant person, so surely it doesn't happen that often?

Its not hypocritical, take it any English linguist and they will teach you about what qualifying statements are, statements that change the meaning of related statements. People literally have to ignore 2 qualifying statements on EITHER side of the main one in order to call the statement hypocritical, bHVR has the nicest and most carefully crafted messages and yet you people figuratively spit in their face. Here I have highlighted the Qualifying Statements in red.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/RHZ084QGCL3P/fomoprestige.jpg

The Community is incredibly dishonest to read bHVR explaining themselves, and then the Community ignore half the message and then call bHVR hypocritical. I have read so many replies from the Community not even acknowledge the clarifications bHVR made.

The Community deserves nothing for this dishonesty, but bHVR might implement 72 cosmetics for free just so people can feel happy.

Yeah I agree. Reading their statement, they're simply saying that adding a reward to prestiging would make it a more desirable objective that requires lots and lots of time investment (I'll add, this would exclude casual players). BHVR don't want prestiging to be seen that way, they want it to just be something can work towards slowly when players have nothing else to do. I think that's fair enough.

At least with seasonal cosmetics, you know what dates they're available every year and you can start saving in advance. Time doesn't work that way.

  • Collectors edition board game, a hoody, the YouTooz, the comics to date, and a Feng genipop on preorder. I'd like to get the statues at some point. I've been looking at some of the plushies too.

  • I'm really enjoying it, and yes throwing games is accurate lol 36 survivor games in and I've only escaped 3 times because the killers let me go.

  • I wasn't being camped, but I did have a killer patrol past me while on hook and I noticed after he'd left that the timer didn't move at all. So it's possibly a bit glitchy.

  • Yeah I agree. My escape rate is technically 0% (played over 30 games and escaped 3 times, but only because the killers let me go ๐Ÿ˜‚) but I'm still having fun. I'm enjoying chases in the void, it's interesting going 1v1 with no powers or perks.

There are some unique cosmetics you get by linking your account. Mostly past event items (from the original Summer BBQ) that were bugged and a lot of people that should have gotten them didn't, so they just gave them to everyone, including new players, for doing an account link. Even then, there are a few that sometimes you don't get, but then you just open a ticket which ones you are missing and they'll manually add them to your account.

Okay so that explains why I got a bunch of random cosmetics after linking my accounts for the Twitch drops lol

Yeah, and this is why I think events should be a different queue than being shoved into normal matches. As you said you can not choose what kind of opponents you get in dbd. If they want to do events like this one then I think its time to do an event queue.

Yeah that would be good. But I imagine for an event that's only a couple weeks, they might not see the point in putting those sorts of resources into it. In the meantime, I honestly think people should just leave any aspirations of winning at the door. The same goes for survivors, because while you can't choose your opponents, you also can't choose your team mates. I'll bet I've had numerous team mates cussing me out for messing around with the Void when they just want to pop gens and escape. In around 30 survivor games since the start of event, I've had 3 escapes and all 3 were from killers letting me leave. It doesn't bother me though. It's a once a year event.

  • @rvzrvzrvz said:

Sorry but the whole thing is quickly annoying, almost 20 days with that gameplay I think I'll pass this time, I know no one cares but I already miss normal game, and special mention for people finishing their event gen/feeding ghosts and letting you die on hook, this is smart event design

I literally just had a game like that lol was on hook and a Dwight hopped on the gen right next to my hook (first hook) and literally did the whole thing. He finally unhooked me when I was a split second from being sacrificed. So when he was hooked, you know what I did? Sat on a gen lol he ended up letting go. The killer also ignored me after I got unhooked and let me leave after killing the others, so I guess they noticed what happened.

  • @Brimp said:

Because the event actually gives stuff. One survivor could just spend ~30 seconds in the void and release 2-3 haunts that give haste outside of the void. Not to mention they will walk outside the void with endurance and haste for basically 20 seconds. Meanwhile killers get a much less impactful undetectable and haste.

I've died twice to the killer's undetectable status. I wouldn't say it's less impactful.

  • Doubt it. Did have the box appear in the entrance though. Game was over though and I was about to leave, thankfully.
