No, it isn’t. It says the killer still won’t be notified. But if a survivor doesn’t let go of a gen effected by PR and DMS, then the killer will know which gen got hit by PR.

Cheers, i didnt think it was. Yeah, it'll be just like it was before the update basically. Let go before the hook

  • This is the perk I've been waiting for in the Shrine. Didn't know it had been so long. I should just prestige Ace at this point sadly

In another thread I just had a discussion about PainRes. This one here really baffles me. I thought that the combo with DMS was the one that we wanted to get rid off and I was fine with that nerc, because it was pretty strong, and downright oppressive with Artist.

But I always disliked the way PainRes played post patch, ie you hook someone and don't know if it worked, don't know were to go next and instead of giving you a clear next goal, ie the gen exploding somewhere, you were left standing and maybe thought "let's start here and trade hooks, then". Yes, it was an awesome perk with its double feature, but I always cherish build in anti camp.

I always thought that maybe giving it back the distant gen explosion, but leaving survivors on that gen unaffected, ie neither making them scream, nor throwing them off, would have been the healthier option, ie you hear and see the gen explode and might go there to look for a survivor or decide against it, your call.

But now they brought back the screaming and throwing survivors off of gens, enabling DMS combo back, but still hide the gens explosion. Imho they got it backwards. Now if you hook someone you might here nothing and you might stay at your hook, camping and trading, or you might here a scream and then know 100% were other survivors are.

Is the survivor screaming back? I thought they'd just get knocked back, like if they missed a skill check

  • @RpTheHotrod said:

What sucks imho is they nerfed a generally okay perk just by the off chance someone used it with another perk. They should nerf combos, not individual perks.

This. I was expecting to see some action on combos. It seems the easiest option but then I'm not a game developer

  • I play Switch and PS5, but mainly Switch. The difference in quality between the two is night and day, but most of my progress is on the Switch so I stick with it. At least until cross progression happens. Plus I like playing handheld mode wherever I go

  • It says "we are restoring Pain Resonance’s generator interruption, though the Killer will still not receive a notification", so presumably survivors can just hop off the gen before the hook and avoid DMS? I did that prior to the PR nerf anyway

Who the heck startet this conspiracy theory?

First time I saw it mentioned on this forum it was a killer who made the claim, but then did a follow up post saying they changed their mind and feel bad for suggesting it. Apparently they started messaging DCing survivors and asking why they did it, and they found nothing to suggest it was an attempt to raise kill rates

  • I don't get DCs or people letting go in my games. Or I do, but extremely rarely. I can't remember the last time I had one but I'm convinced it's a regional thing. I feel like gaming culture varies among different countries.

  • I did this accidentally. Ran around a wall and tried to Bite the Bullet heal to lose the killer but was too close to a locker and just locked it instead. Console problems

  • I'd consider myself a casual player, and i don't DC. If I'm not having fun I just shut the game down after a match and find something else to do. I don't take anything that happens to me in a game personally, it's just not that deep

  • The only thing I find off-putting about this game is the community. No update or patch or dev has ever made me wanna quit this game, but the community? Absolutely

  • @Marigoria said:

Just the other day a really well known streamer on the forums said the increase in hackers is survivor mains doing it as revenge. Some people are ridiculous and made really dumb stuff up.

There was a certain (un)popular streamer who was getting targeted by hackers several months ago, and I never saw a single other streamer ever acknowledge it or call out what was happening. It's kind of interesting to see other popular streamers now getting targeted and losing their minds. Something could have been done ages ago, but none of them spoke up when it started because it wasn't affecting them. There's literally a known discord where these hackers make plans, and use a program to put themselves into streamers lobbies. This info has been around for many many months. I first heard about it in like Jan this year.

  • The 75% gen increase completely stumped me. I can't even understand the reasoning for it. They should have just left it out.

  • They said it was for queue times, not to help with the grind. So unfortunately that won't happen.

  • @Roaroftime said:

This game was also important to lots of survivors who enjoyed it as they had a 50/50 chance of escape, there was enough hope to fuel the match and then devs completely buffed all aspects of killer and nerfed most of survivor meaning now survivors morale is awful if they havent already quit meaning they leave rounds if they get snowballed at 5 gens for example. Next time a survivor kills themselves on hook look at how the match is going - would they have definitely died anyway at 3 gens?

That's a good point. I don't see many people letting go on hook in my games personally, but when they do it's always when the game is pretty much over and there's 4/5 gens left.

  • Devs have said before that endgame is neutral ground and should favour neither killer or survivor. It's just a mechanism to ensure the game inevitably ends. That's why killer can open the gate as well as survivor

Dbd is desperately in need for a tutorial on how not to be that one solo teammate everyone is ranting about on the forum.

I'd probably be better off with some garbage bins as teammates instead of some Leons catching crows at the exit while the others are trying to cleanse NOED, an Ace self-caring under sloppy butcher while I'm going second stage and the killer is chasing someone else.. A Meg slowly making her way to the basement chest, god forbid she wastes her sprint burst..And so many more occasions where I'd just wanna DC and uninstall.

It's the Chris Redfields for me. I don't see them often but when I do I'm always disappointed

A week of solo queue, running Off The Record appropriately 50% of games. Hasn't procced yet.

Can someone tell me why I haven't encountered a single tunneller yet? Feel like I'm missing out.

I've said a few times on this forum that I'm surprised by how often others claim to experience camping and/or tunnelling, because its an uncommon thing in my games. But I'm convinced at this point it's a regional issue, just the nature of gaming in certain areas.

I watched one of my favourite streamers earlier, a Plague main who decided to test out the solo queue survivor experience, and literally every single game she played there was camping and tunnelling. No exception.

    Yes.

    • For console if I see a Temp-364765 name I leave the lobby. The person was dumb enough to make an offensive name that got banned so I dont trust them. Also experience has shown when I don’t leave the lobby they play like jerks more often than not.
    • Names like - Iliketohide or toxicdude or runcakeorileave or potato - i advise you take them at their word. More often than not the name is accurate.
    • I’ve played with hacker survivors and they’re not usually the ones with ‘hax’ or some derivation in their name. But I’ll still leave a lobby with some form of ‘hacker’ in the name.

Had a team mate once called something like 'allboonsalways' and his build was, in fact, all boons

  • Sound is such an important part of this game, and i dont mean idle chatter. I like being able to hear the terror radius as soon as it starts, or the gurgle of Wraith approaching, or the flap of Ghostface's cloak, or Myers breathing. I'd hate to lose all that to kids (and plenty of kids play this game - I like to remain blissfully unaware of that fact also) carrying on, or people who love the sound of their own voice, etc. Not to mention the ineffective reporting system is a common complaint from players. Imagine adding voice chat to Supports workload - we all know the sorts of verbal abuse gamers are capable of, we see it in endgame chats enough. And I know, I could just turn VC off, but then I also potentially make myself a target by being seen as non-cooperative with the team. I dunno. I'm just not a fan.

  • Was just watching a 7k hour streamer get matched with a 400 hour survivor. Dunno what is going on with MMR

  • Well, for one thing they never comment on anything really until a good amount of time has passed. We are all still waiting for a Sadako buff and she came out in March. Theyd have enough stats by now to show how low her kills are (most people would probably in agreement that theyd be pretty low) and perhaps theyre waiting to see how the latest update affects her? But anyway, they make decisions based on game statistics, and those take time. If, for example, they wanted a 5% kill rate increase across the board but in 3 months the stats are showing a consistent 10% increase then they'll probably say something. If they're happy with the stats then they'll probably say very little.

  • This is my issue as well. As far as I'm concerned, let us choose between prestiging and getting good add-ons/items. The devs said they will be looking at the item rarity thing in future, but that might not even be until the second half of next year for all we know. I feel like the easier option might be to simply not make it compulsory for now and change it up later

  • I haven't bought the pass for the last couple rifts. Just been uninterested. I'm keen on the Mikaela outfit from this one but I'll need to get to almost the end of the Rift to get the whole thing, so I'll only buy the pass if I manage to get there.

  • I guess this is one way to avoid hackers in advance!

  • If this is a recurring thing every game and its affecting you this badly, then take a break from the game. You can't control what killers you get or what perks they're carrying. You can only control your own actions.

I don't think you'll find many people outside of Legion mains who like Legion-Thana games. But if you make the choice to play then just pull your weight as best you can and play. I hate Deathslinger with a passion and groan out loud every time I hear him when I spawn in. But I committed to playing when I pressed Ready. If you are frequently letting go on hook or DCing then maybe you just need a break?

  • It wasn't based on bloodpoints invested in the end, it was based on perk tiers. So if your character had only (for example) three perks, all at tier 3 (purple), that would equal 15 tiers. There's a chart floating around somewhere that showed how your character would prestige based on their perk tiers

I'm having a really good time as solo q! It wasn't always like this at the start: the survivor disconnects were bad and there was still a lot of adjusting to the changes.

However, I'm assuming I've been quite lucky, or there is some blip in the mmr where people who don't dc are being put with others who don't, because for the past couple of days I have had a fair number of survivor matches and only one afk (not even a dc!) team mate. Everyone is working well as a team, and whilst my survival is about 50/50 currently, even if I don't make it I've contributed, as with my other survivor players. I've also not encountered one face camping killer. A few proxy-campers, and whether survivors were near or not they may have had their reasons. So my experience has been good!

However, I can empathise woth those who don't. My builds are always random, and I'm starting to learn Onryo (which I love, by the way!), and I had a couple of matches where there were dc's for early downs. I only wish those guys could see what perks I was running: One was Hex: Thrill Of The Hunt and Unnerving Presence; the other Grim Embrace ... that's it! If they had stayed around they may have found a way to win, but instead they ruined the match. And ultimately, from my experience only, the biggest nerf to survivor out of everything is the quitters.

I've referred to that as the 'MMR sweet spot'. It's a glorious place.

    Survivor tomes are so terrible.

I'm supposed to cleanse totems, but looking for one and actually cleansing it is pretty much damning the team because then gens aren't being done fast enough.

Glad it's not just me lol some games I spend my time just battling to get one gen done amidst Jolt, Overcharge, PR, Brine, etc. I don't even remember my current tome challenge until the game is over D:

  • "I'm not responsible for other people's fun" is a recurring theme in this community. People don't care, unfortunately.

THIS! RIGHT HERE! If they had just nerfed perks, people wouldnt be going to this extreme level to get noticed. Sure, we'd still be complaining (Probably about Legion at best, but hey, welcome to the forums.) but we would've adapted quicker and moved on and DBD wouldnt be facing this whirlwind of issues. The update gave more problems then it fixed.

Alot of killers like to say survivors were being carried by their perks and need to adapt, yet if perks were the issue then why the killer chase buffs? Just rework the perks and leave everything else if it was just a perk issue.

it's weird I am playing Solo Survivor since 2016 (not continuous) and .. well I can count the times I've been Camped on my Hands, maybe it's the region? I'm from the EU, even now after the Patch I played one Week exclusively Survivor (normally I play Killer most of the time and Survivor occasionally or for Challenges) and since the patch, I've been Facecamped one time and "kinda" Tunneled ONCE!

I've only been playing a cpl years but my experience is the same, and I've said before that I think it's region related. Seeing the number of complaints though across the board, I believe it's a real issue that BHVR need to look into. Just like I've never used DH or tbagged killers, the amount of complaints I'd see pre-patch was enough for me to know they frustrated killer gameplay.

  • Yup! I can handle the prestige 20k tax, but I hate that it's compulsory. If they wanna lessen the grind then let me pick for myself when and if I prestige

  • I didn't get to watch much of day 2, but I watched day 1 in full. Cracked me up when JRM said something like 'I can see you're stressed Otz' and he's just watching Otz/Zarina run back and forth frantically as that Myers camps Ayrun LOL

  • Zarina, Mikaela, and third is a draw between Elodie and Laurie

That would help a lot, usually I stop after 2 solo Q games i'm just done and switch to killer, with a bonus I don't mind dying as much, it was cool the first day with perma 100%

Same. I'll happily die every game if they give me 100% extra bp. I still have a few survivors and killers I need to level up. Chuck up a flan and I'm happy.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

I don't consider it losing, so long as I pip. On that basis I'm winning a lot. In terms of survival, it's gone down a bit. However, in games where survivors are understanding teamwork now plays a much more pivotal role, those are the games that are both way more enjoyable and with better escapes.

Yes, this. As long as I pip I'm happy. If everyone pulls their weight it's a good game, whether I die or survive.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3092726#Comment_3092726

Yeah, Overcharge can be really hard to hit. It's basically harder DS that you don't know about at first.

Plus, I think when you hit the Overcharge skill check it triggers Call of Brine's notification, not sure tho

I'm pretty sure it did. I didn't stick around to see the killers perks, so Jolt and Overcharge were the two I picked up on. But the gens regression made me think CoB was in play, and I barely had any time on the gen before he was back on me. Was a tough match

  • @Dead_Harder said:

Yeah i always got confused when people said being tunneled was 'denying to play the game' and then turn around and say the chase was the most fun part of the game and gens were boring.

I feel like there's a massive space between 'I enjoy chases' and 'I don't enjoy not having the opportunity to do anything else in the game'

  • Had a Deathslinger do the 3 gen strategy from spawn in. It was on The Game map and it was working for him. Had a gen above the stairs, at the bottom of the stairs, and one in the middle area. Had Jolt, Overcharge, etc. I knew what he was doing and kept focusing on one particular gen but i just couldn't pop it as hard as I tried. Eventually died and didn't spectate, so I dunno how the team went but a Laurie appeared to help me with the gen shortly before my final hook, so I think she caught on too.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

I tried to read the essay fully but I'm just gonna find more of the same: You're making it seem as if you've broken it down to a science and that if killer does A then B then C, it's a foolproof way to win the game no matter what. The reality is that there is no scenario in which the killer is guaranteed a win. The survivor objective is faster, it's easier, there's plenty of tools survivors have to make them go even faster, and that's with survivors consistently going down to the killer in 20 seconds or less.

Everything just seems like it's the most ideal situation possible for the killer, the way your described it. I was astonished when you began by talking about survivors being slow and unproductive in the beginning, searching chests, doing totems, and stacking 3 people on 1 gen. Surely you realize that beginning of the game is actually the worst position for the killer, because they have pressure on nobody if not 1 person. This is not even going into mid-game where everyone's on gens, most of them are done, the survivors have multiple second chance perks active, and the killer's struggling to end chases quickly.

Survivors punish you no matter what you do. If you tunnel, if you camp, if you slug, if you run slowdown perks, if you run chase perks, if you do all of that or if you don't do any of that. They rush gens, and simply tap each other out of bad situations if you for a second let up on your slugging or camping. You overextended slugging, they 1-tap and everyone's up. You looked away from the hook for a second, the survivor's suddenly there and is unhooking.

I don't know if you factored in scenarios where survivors have perks, maps, and items that especially counter whatever it is you're trying to do as killer, but clearly it doesn't matter to you because killer will JUST find a way out of it with steps B and C. In your mind, the killer is never outmatched, and pure skill and strategy will win out in the end every time. I think most of us used to believe that, but no longer do.

So I don't know what you're up to. Maybe trying to argue that killer is a walk in the park, but that hasn't been true, and it ISN'T coming true.

His second paragraph says he's being "some-what satirical"

  • @danielmaster87 said:

There is massive support for survivors to just DC if they don't like how the match is going. It's promoted at this point.

Where? I'm a survivor and have never seen this promotion

  • Had one of these games too awhile ago, at least your camera had finished spinning, mine was still going while they all popped around me lol

  • Overall, I'm dying more than i used to but am also getting alot more pity hatch than I used to, especially when the team gets steamrolled before 1-2 gens pop haha but overall they're fine, I'm still enjoying myself and pip'd every game except one. That one game was on my team mates - I was first hooked and no one rescued me.

Three games today and they went:

    > sacrificed second (hooked three times, 3 gens left)

    > pity hatch from killer (rest of team dead at 2 gens left, I was on death hook)

    > close exit gate escape at 1 gen left (I had it about 70% done when third survivor died, killer closed hatch)

  • Mine have been okay. No DCers or people letting go on hook in my games thankfully

  • Might have meant "I don't care" but autocorrect or something interfered
