I've seen people fake against pyramid head. not only against me but other people as well.
I have not once seen a Trickster not get a down when they use main event. Then again I see streamers that are really good.
Hag can get the unhooker if the survivors play well but that's it.
...........okay fair enough, to re-iterate my sentiment: you can't fake a save vs a good pyramid head

It kinda still does. When survivor is trying to block me with BT, I just wait 12 seconds, but I always prefer survivor that went for unhook.
in higher mmr though they do that because they want to deny you getting another hook off someone and that got you to give up the chase
then when you hit them you're either dealing with their ds or their unbreakable and either way getting pretty screwed
so in that sense the counterplay is getting completely momentum-killed by borrowed time
weaponized anti-tunnel perks are fun, no?

as someone in a streamer's chat posted recently half-sarcastically half-seriously

What? Spirit and Nurse are M1 killers in the end. Does not matter if they Phase/Teleport the swing is a basic atk. Huntress, Blight, Trickster, DS, Billy, Bubba, plague, Demo, Twins, nemesis, and I guess Oni as well are the ones that are NOT M1 killers.
not the definition most people use, sorry
using solely your m1 to get downs does not an m1 killer make

How that proves anything?
Yeah, you can get tier3 fast in open maps, or bad survivors.
Problem is that on some maps it takes way longer and with lot of pallets you might not even get down from it.
Sloppy butcher works on them, they use basic attacks for down, so that is m1 killer, isn't it?
Is Wraith m1 killer? he also uses his power to get closer to survivor.
Wraith used to be better than Myers, I am not sure how much bad it will because of that lunge nerf, so hard to tell.
What is your definition of m1 killer? That killer has to walk towards that survivor and down only with m1?
There is not many killers that fit that, so it wouldn't really be win to be best at it...
Cenobite is better I think, with correct perks.
myers is way better than a lot of people give him credit for, that's all i have interest in positing at this time as it gets old explaining this [sheesh] in like 6 different threads and hearing the same weak arguments to why he's a low-end killer every time
m1 killers don't have a way to attack or screw you out of a loop with their power in a direct fashion
nurse is not a m1 killer because she teleports right next to your [donkey] through an entire house to hit you with her m1 suddenly, the game doesn't even classify it as a regular attack but stuff like exposed work with blink attacks yes
wraith is a m1 killer and any consideration that his lunge out of cloak might blur this line since it had a bit of antiloop to it, well, lunge nerf, he's very much susceptible to a lot of the things m1 killers are and then some since windows are his bane in cloak
cenobite is also a blurred line until you put on engineer's fang and randomly injure people out of nowhere from basement floor of gideon when they're half a mile away on main floor, between that and having a capacity to screw over loops with chains he probably isn't a m1 killer really
legion's problem is that while you can stall survivors for a bit with deep wounds and basically make everyone perma-exposed if they give up healing (and they generally don't even bother at higher mmr) they're reduced to a m1 killer that just has everyone 'exposed+' in a sense
that seems to be the gist of what i've seen m1 killers referred to as and it makes sense to me, it's defined by how loop susceptible a killer is because ultimately yes if you're reduced to running around having to tag someone with m1 (whether 1-shot or not) your options to not get 'skilled on' by god pallet pre-drops or somesuch are very limited
but out of those myers just instakills you if he makes contact with you or catches you out, so.. yeah, better not [eep] up and get mindgamed

Well with hag that only works on basement. Pyramid Head you can fake a unhook. Bubba I have nothing to say except your right. However, do we really want more killers to be able to camp rather then be able to actually do well in chase or have more for 1v4?
you can't fake a save vs pyramid head (protip: at medium-long range as far as his regular attack length is concerned, punishment just after the person on hook touches the ground)
you can however probably get a trickster to burn main event and not get many hits out of it by going for the unhook and then immediately running for cover once he does his tell
....also not sure what you're on about with hag not camping hooks, that's hag's entire shtick - camping half the map
you technically can get an unhook without triggering traps or having a flashlight but in practice it's done 95% of the time for a reason
-
so he's not allowed on the computer that apparently isn't passworded against being accessed + was logged into an extremely valuable steam account

I like the idea, I especially like it ticking up over time if they don't Mend. People often compare Trickster to Huntress, but that's dumb, he is and always has been far closer to Plague- this just realises that a little further.
Holding on to Main Event is a poor move though, in my opinion. I'd rather see the bar partially refunded if you don't use it- instead of charging it again from 0, you charge it from 50, or maybe even 75. Main Event is clearly supposed to work as a crescendo, but starting from zero is pretty harsh even with that in mind.
doesn't work out very well in practice because generally as you throw knives and particularly when you injure someone you're losing distance on them, and you move very, very slowly during main event
once someone runs around the corner of a large wall that's that

Myers is one of the weakest killers, unless you have useless team-mates that are not able to look around and give him free stalk, but I wouldn't really balance around noobs...
best? really?
Spirit and Nurse are M1 killers...
perk reliant?
Well, ######### tons of slow-down perks and STBFL is really good.
..spirit and nurse are not m1 killers
do you want i should link you several videos of t3 a minute into the game vs average survivors, with or without tombstone piece? only certain loops/map designs really disadvantage him from getting much stalk out of people but he often doesn't have much issue with green stalk addon
perk reliant because stuff like bamboozle/play with your food is quite necessary on the instakill setup to catch people out sometimes, but you can do a ton with the former even without the game ender addon...s
-
trickster really needs to main event on demand, catching someone out with it in the open is rare as hell as it is and it's just so often an impotent part of his kit because of its forced usage + very specific scenario needs
plus i don't see how it's not even worse to get camped out by an oni who goes into fury and then will just aoe multi-instadown slam anyone that goes for the save, either way person on hook's dead or slugged, probably even through bt if timed well, and oni isn't even something like bubba
if have to make it take a lot more knife hits to build up to because of its newfound effectiveness then whatever

Well, that's not good either.
It's definetly not tier worth nerfing.
Most people don't care about his power-level, he was always worse Huntress, problem is that he is also just not fun to play now.
Deathslinger doesn't really suck as a killer, he is still better than some weaker killers like Clown, Legion, Myers, Freddie etc., but he sucks to play as, even Freddie is more fun to play now and that used to be most boring killer to me.
Because of longer ADS, I get same feeling as Huntress with Wind-up time addons. Problem is that unlike Huntress, Deathslinger has several limitations. He gets more punished for single miss, he can't down over pallet / far window, he has limited range, he has super tiny hitbox that is easy to dodge, his ADS sensitivity + FOV just sucks, so he can't even flick and he also has longer time to down on avarage than Trickster / Huntress.
ADS sensitivity + FOV were always bad, but noone did it, because of quick-scope, so it wasn't an issue before.
Deathslinger was played by FPS players a lot, because they could use skills they already had, but that's not a thing anymore after quick-scope nerf.
Quick-scope was only thing he was better at than Trickster / Huntress, so right now, there is just no reason to play him, unless you enjoy looking at old guy with [BAD WORD] up leg, but no kink shaming.
Zoning is same as Huntress, you just hold your power, but I don't know about you, it's way easier with Huntress, because of that FOV that Deathslinger gets looks terrible and she has bigger hitbox, so easier to hit.
myers a weaker killer until he springs a 3v1 on your [donkey] 60 seconds into the match at 5 gens
unsure, even if he's really specific perk/addon reliant think he's pretty much the best m1 killer there is
-
3-gens were never a game-winning strategy to begin with, even the sometimes psychotic ones that spawn on swamp that are literally all visible + 16 meters from eachother, even with one dead you can't push three people off three different gens at once no matter what you are
it's a good stalling tactic + is severely effective against pansy survivors but the math and mechanics say eventually they'll get one done, whether without you downing someone or after you down + hook someone (going for the slug probably a losing proposition if the 3rd pops theirs as you come to them and a slug has adrenaline)
but yes, having a heal zone on the outskirts of your 3-gen hurts your prospects immensely since the last thing you need in that attrition war is fast resets from survivor side, their progression massively > your regression, and that's per survivor
-
survivor with double blue totem perks
turning a hostile mechanic into a benevolent one is the ultimate counterplay
-
rather than broken it could be made so that you caaaaan heal despite the plaaaaaaag dude but it will just start a (faster) timer to injure you again + you still have the typical effects of being max plague like infecting everything and making a scene
something like that would need to come with compensation of course like not autohealing survivors that cleanse (which would also make healing have some relevance vs plague again) but as far as not ganking entire mechanics in a match, there's options
-
@Mogul said:

Assuming you already know where the totem is, it still takes longer to set it up and self heal than self care does, you need to get 2-3 uses out of it for it to be worthwhile, and it takes seconds for the killer to find it and stamp it out. Remember, if they're wasting time lighting totems they're also not doing gens, it might be hard to see the weaknesses of taking boons but it's definitely there.
technically no unless you're factoring movement
14+16 for bless/self-heal beats self-care's 32 self-heal
this also doesn't account at all for any of the other three survivors making use of your blue zone one way or another
and if it isn't ganked immediately by the killer (unlikely unless you keep sounding the thunder in the same place) it will be
have even had another mikaela with blood pact that got away from killer seeing me crouched over run over to the springwood building and then start self-healing outside as soon as i made the blue in the boiler room and similarly self-healed, two chargeless medkit selfheals worth out of one 14s creation and the ensuing lost chase when someone dragged the nemesis into the boiler room without scratch marks yet again and only got to punt the blue to start the cycle all over again

Really? Well it's still 14 seconds this specific survivor isn't sitting on a gen. I will be honest, I haven't used boon totems myself as survivor until now cause the survivor queue yesterday was horrible but I didn't have much of an issue going against them as killer (petty much every game was 4 Mikaelas). And I had games on Lerys and the game with people blessing totems and I still 4k'd.
luckily you haven't run into me yet because i guarantee you when i find the best blue spot in the map via first gen's detective hunch proc and run you to it any time you get on me i will give you a complete nightmare of a chase, i've turned 14 seconds into two minutes in sub-optimal corner placements on lery's vs a stealth killer that kept getting the drop on me
better commit to the mikaela, if gets into blue zone she's gone and heals injured state in 16 sec + has people running to its outskirts to 8 sec reset

True, but there's always a risk that someone's going to run Detective's and instantly annihilate any hexes you bring, so that's not really changed? Besides, if the killer protects Thrill manually, blessing that takes a longass time, there's time for them to interrupt you.
it's changed in the sense that every blue aura by process of elimination makes finding the actual hex in the mix faster and faster
besides, blue totems are still completely and utterly worth the time to create them with that slowdown unless the killer is patrolling that area rather hard and bapping it constantly (+ you keep informing them with thunder that you're recreating the same one over and over)

No it doesn't, at least not in lower grades. It is easier to double pip there.
you are correct
but i am not a potato killer, and i'm not 100% sure if grades still even influence pips the way they did before
if they do then with them hard resetting every month it sure must make adept achievements/possibly archives? massively easier
-
psycho slowdown is only when they bless a hex specifically and eventually they'll get thrill with it
i tend to run detective's hunch for optimal blue creation and you can bet i'd be after that totem in particular if i had a red bar
and i'd break it if i had a good blue location so i wouldn't get the psycho slowdown in the first place probably
unfortunately this might be stockholm syndrome setting in, rage like how i rage as if i was spirit herself, it's justified

If you intend to gut soloq by making every survivor item useless, it's only fair if we do the same with killer addons.
@Nayru said:
broken key should spawn with the yellow survivor aura addon in-game without ace in the hole and should have higher base use
a lot of addons need their effects looked over 'cause the power differentials are massive
medkits need a speed decrease on self-heal and either an increase or charge reduction on heal others
toolboxes should be repurposed for environmental screwery/sabo rather than gen repairs honestly
and personally i feel like what keys needed was a 5? sec hatch open animation that resets if you don't complete it and hatch immediately closes afterwards i.e. one key = one person, if the next survivor is then the last one in trial egc is immediately triggered rather than staying open
but ooh well
are you high? i'm pretty sure even the op wants to BUFF items by cutting out superfluous items/addons eating up most of your bloodweb space, and the only nerfs i want are to medkit (self)heal times (but a major buff to healing others) and toolbox genrushing

I agree, I think Lery's is way better actually. The Game can be tricky with the two stories.
shark myers waiting for you to drop down + game has most of its gens in very tight spaces up against big los-blocking walls, and possibly being really close to survivors but on another floor yet 100% aware of where they are is pretty awful from survivor pov, particularly if you're on basement floor since there's a lot of places he can drop down near you

Yea, but iron will also doesnt give me infinite unbreakable and speed in recovering.
Iron will is fine how it is
no mither is an unbreakable that informs the killer of its existence, it doesn't really do much except get your donkey handed to you
it doesn't make iron will or its complete muting of all your breathing sounds injured 'fine'
-
aha aura myers makes sense, though i'd majorly prefer something like gideon or lery's for that than rpd and its .. 'obtuse layout' let's say
-
sure, even though the important bases (unhooking/gen) are covered and yet things like ds deliverance in endgame --> free escape are FAR more ludicrous than being able to heal yourself with it up, given someone ELSE healing you does nothing to it
it's about as powerful as smash hit vs killers like huntress/blight/nurse who'll either clap you immediately afterwards or immediately be on you again anyway
-
hello
one time not super long ago i got map offering'd to midwich as bubba
'o dam, a ton of long corridors and i'm trying out double speed addons, maybe can make something out of this' i thought
did you know midwich is a [eep]ing nightmare for bubba given there's a tight door that has a high chance of tantruming you everywhere you look containing a room with a very chainsaw-resistant loop, and some room entrances are 100% tantrum triggerers like the concrete wall hole?
i didn't, and despite all of this i ran into someone super early and caught them in the hallway with chainsaw
guess what? in a corner of the map without stairs, there was no hook accessible whatsoever, not even with agitation
no hook offerings, the map just decided to create a hook deadzone and i was dead center of it (and believe me i looked next time)
had to drop him, it was a byers, didn't proxy him and he was picked up extremely fast, but at least managed to get someone else not super long after that but that completely crushed my early momentum
the rest of the game was just an impossible to hold 'watch gens fly on a floor you're not on and never finding anyone because there's a million places to hide and you broadcast your approach quite massively' (in retrospect there was probably some voip swf involved)
so lategame comes around and i catch some people out and try to make something out of nothing, i fail and one slug crawls out and just take the one feng i whapped towards the end
now these survivors had quite a few things to say to me about running noed on bubba and having the audacity of m1ing two injured people with it
i don't remember much of what was said and it doesn't really matter what was said, but two of them, i think including byers said most of it
do you think they give a [sheesh] that those were the only perks i had on bubba? no, according to them i can just magically have a meta set
do you think byers who i think map offering'd me gave a [sheesh] that i got completely and utterly [eep]ed by rng at the start? of course not, he probably thought it just reinforces the fact i was a [sheesh]er in that i had to drop him and didn't proxy him out
do you think they'd have even the remotest sympathy for how double scratches [eep]ing destroys your power and makes you useless? they'd probably find it god damn hilarious in fact and berate you for it
my larger point is people say a lot of things and make huge donkeys out of themselves trying so hard to make up for their utterly crippling lack of self-worth and desperate need for validation, even in something as meaningless as being decent and able to abuse a game that loads the dice heavily in their favour, in reality it's them you should feel pity for, they ostracize themselves out of most social circles because nobody decent wants to bother with 'that person'
i hope sharing this bit helps in some way question mark, neru out

DS as it stands is as balanced as it can get; If you are getting tunneled off hook, you have the perk fulfill it's purpose. If you have the time needed to casually go about doing other things, you likely aren't being tunneled and if you are, it's because you messed around and let the Killer find you.
okay, so if you are getting tunneled off death hook and manage to lose the killer, if you take the obvious next step in not getting 3v1 syndromed and heal and instantly disable your ds/turns out killer had nurse's and is beelining for your exact location you're just [eep]ed then and deserve it
am i getting this right
you can barely make arguments like that for preventing any self healing beyond self-care/medkit but making it about self-healing et al.. wow

I used to run Thrill of the Hunt on Cenobite. Thrill combinded with Plaything made for an extremly funny combination where I would sometimes get to grab some survivor who was desperate to cleanse their Plaything off the totem. Good survivors mostly ignored their plaything while others paid way too much attention to it, providing me with tons of game delay and time to hunt them.
The noise was very important for this as I had no way to notice that a cleansing was going on when I was hunting another survivor. The goal of my build is to apply plaything to all of them after all and as such I am trying to hook each survivor once. If during my hunt I come past a survivor cleansing their plaything I would of course change targets. Also with my ability I was able to interrupt them from cleansing.
Now here is the problem: Imagin I play Wraith, Nurse, Blight or Billy. If I had this buff (50% increase on cleansing time, resulting in 22 seconds of cleansing total) AND the notification the survivors would not be able to cleanse their totem ever unless I am totaly throwing the game. Even if I was on the other side of the map at Red Swamp I would be able to get to them in time when I notice the cleansing. Scaring them off the Totem and resetting all progress on cleansing. This would pretty much result in an undying Hex and if somebody means buissness that Hex is Hex: Ruin. You would have a pretty much uncleansable Ruin. This combined with mobile characters would result in a big problem for survivors.
While I enjoy making a survivor struggle and I enjoy funny Hex perks like Thrill of the Hunt, Bloodfavoure and Third Seal I think that Hex: Ruin is a problem for this game right now. It just limits options for the developers and this is another example.
uh thrill + ruin existed in the game for ages before thrill had its notification removed and was apparently so gamebreaking it was never used even after undying's nerf
that's how powerful it was i guess, so i haven't the faintest clue what you're on about
even if it still had notification retribution is a far better pairing with plaything because 15 sec global aura read multiple times phenomenal

The problem is that we would need a solution that can not be abused by survivors. In my opinion the best solution would be a better incentive for the Killer to move away from the hook and hunt another survivor. Sure in some situations camping is fine and must be done (exit is open, you hooked the guy and know that they will come / you hang the survivor in the middle of your 3 gen as Trapper etc.) and should not be punished.
Now how can you increase the appeal of leaving the hook, aside from Hex: Devour Hope?
How about a Perk that slows down repair speed while somebody is on the hook but not within a radius of 32-40 meters?
barbecue/devour hope are pretty much all there is perk-wise
i don't think the perk would see much use because its best use case would be proxycamping the person on the hook and having people try to genrush instead of saving but the usual thing to expect would be a save within 15 seconds as soon as you're outside radius so it'd hardly get much value

So it's only okay if it's in the Killer's favor... Got it
3+ hook saves outside a radius (i.e. survivors don't hookbomb you which completely and utterly dunks devour hope) and not having your hex ganked in the meantime and then turning the instadown pressure into a game-swinging moment while keeping it up and trying to get to 5 and put a nail in the game's coffin
at what point is it okay for a killer perk to do something in the killer's favour when it could be sniped at any moment with your back turned or gone immediately at the start of the match if someone spawns on it, exactly? so embarrassing

what about myers/ghostface/deathslinger with instadown addon/trickster holding 95% main event/iri huntress/hag

Nah, they are easy to find and easy to destroy, think of em like hexes for survivors, but I would like it's range to be shorter, and a few other things to buff killers, most of my games against boons where fine, you should prioritize breaking boons asap, the game doesn't need for boons to be removed, simply, buff killers to some extent.
P.S You guys had, over 2 weeks, of PTB, you should've been making these then, not now when the update is live, sure it might get nerfed but you should've stated so when it was still in ptb.
there was probably a few thousand posts or so made in relation to blue totems in the timeperiod of ptb forums pre-release
that sort of thing is hard to keep track of and it's a probably relatively accurate estimate on my part, but regardless, consider yourself informed
now that they're in live with modest nerfs, expect it to be tens of thousands of posts in the coming months instead
that said, i've gotten to use them in live now and i can say that games have been completely carried by them + their effects are massively powerful (if you don't commit to my mikaela i reset in 20 seconds and i will drag you to where i have no scratch marks every time), but even despite that potatoes still find impressive ways to lose as usual, so they're not doing much at low or mid mmr

Those perks when combined are MUCH stronger than boons.
until they get turned into blue totems anyway the moment you leave them for ~20 seconds
then they're not

The one I've got each time I play Killer. I swear, this map loves me as much as I hate it.
it's always [eep]ing haddonfield so think i've got a fair shot
as for which killer would go to rpd, wraith/hag/nurse/pyra can have a BALL on that map, i'll take the safe bet and figure it was a wraith

Make it where med kits can only heal others not self
you'd have to make them pretty god damn good to compensate for that given how the entire good thing about them is their self-healing specifically
and they're already really, really good

perk desc i think says that ds is deactivated by cleanse/bless so i guess it's a bug
personally don't think self-heal/cleanse+bless should deactivate ds (they can all be construed as trying to avoid being tunneled out via inner strength/circle) unless of course you target a hex in which case you're asking for it, but whatever

A perk being bad doesn't mean it needs a rework. Its design is fine. Increasing sounds survivors make to help with tracking. It's a perfectly fine design. It's bad, that doesn't make it poorly designed. 80% of killer perks are bad, do they all need a rework? No. All games will have low tier "filler" things that just exist to have them. Monstrous Shrine for example. Does it need a rework? No. Its design is mostly fine, it's just horrible. Outdated? Yeah maybe.
How about perks like Insidious (which has already been changed from what it used to be), or Dead Mans Switch. These don't need reworks, the design on them is fine, they're just bad. All of the "bad" perks in this game rely on setup or having time, which the killer doesn't have. That doesn't mean the perks need reworks.
a rework in this case could mean to make stridor increase all sounds survivors make majorly for example
by its definition in vg design rework is basically any change to a mechanic beyond messing with its numbers
and believe me while you could make stridor amp breathing sounds by 5000% or whatever there's only so much you can do with it as it's designed to make it a worthwhile perk without dealing with its ungodly hard counter that is iron will

The solution is to fix Iron WIll. It's entirely too powerful and is probably the single strongest overall survivor perk in terms of usage in relation to power. The problem is that Iron Will is actually reducing your breathing sounds in addition to your grunts of pain.
Iron Will is too powerful ANYWAYS, and the perk makes no sense when you have varying sounds of injury. Meg sounds like she's been shot by a thousand bullets, meanwhile claudette doesn't even sound injured.
Nerfing Iron Will is the solution here. Not reverting stridor.
but a perk that had an actual use case or two still got made completely useless for everyone that unlocked it and i'd consider that very, very bad
revert or rework, even if it becomes a new tinkerer
