Oh yeah because solo Q survivor is like being in heaven. There are no team mates who are that bad that it feels like they screw you over on purpose. Idk, like dropping pallet first when killer is closer to you, selfcare in corner against legion or sloppy killers every time injured, being super emersive and not having the balls to commit on a gen which nearly done, suicide on first hook, camping and dropping shack pallet against legion in frenzy mode in the first minute of the game and so on.
Oh wait, that's actually reality. Yeh good luck having fun playing survivor. Without swf you ain't finding it.
At least my brain isn't in overdrive. I could just chill and relax to music while messing about. Sure the team is dumb but eh the mindset is different when you don't have to think about every single thing going in the match.

Let me ask another question. Why should any killer player want to deal with this?
It's obvious that those teams of survivor have a high chance of being a multiprson swf and I would hard assume that their goal is not the escape but to have fun denying the killer at any possibility.
And thanks to comms and so on they most likely might even succeed against average killer, maybe less since MMR.
Kind of fine with it. If they're bringing flashlight means they're not taking the match seriously and inefficient at doing generators or underestimating you the entire match. You could guarantee that there's a lemming following you not doing anything so that's great, probably also giving out free hits = pressure too just trying to do saves.
Then there's the good old flash light blind while you're breaking pallets. For the most part it loses them distance lol since I can just follow their sounds just fine while blinded, They're better off running in a straight line and gain more distance.
With that said is this advantages worth it for a killers? Eh I would probably say not maybe the average killer would bust a nerve when they're getting treated like this the entire match but I'm fine with it.

I see you did not watch streamers on the day mmr released. Some of the best killer players were getting destroyed and it is not uncommon to see them with 4-5 hooks and the exit gate about to open.
These people play this game for a job and have thousands of hours... i guess they all just suck and "didn't pressure" 4 survivors at the same time as a single killer.
The game is busted and boon totems along with survivor perks buffs are going to push it over the edge.
Which best killers? You mean the same streamers advocating fair play? Where they do a lose-lose chase because they don't want to seem like their 'tunneling' or 'camping' or 'sweaty'? Or the same streamers getting stream sniped as soon as they queue match which means they get 4 man SWF quite often as opposed to the random killer in the forum who don't have stream snipers but apparently gets 4 man every match?
I played when the MMR started. I won most of my matches and only lost a few times then climbed to red ranks in a few days because it's quite easy to get Ruthless and Merciless killer consistently unlike survivor where you get screwed by randoms or the match ends early then you get a safety pip.
I'm not gonna pretend like the rest of the people here that all my matches were 4 man tournament level swf. As I said the game has balancing issues but I genuinely think half the people in the forum doesn't know how to play killer properly. It's easy to blame balancing issues than your own inability after all.

I'm sorry but if this is uncommon occurrence to you frankly you are playing against potato survivors, no offense. Gen speeds, along with almost everything else, is determined by survivor skill level, not the killer.
But you're saying you faced against potato survivor. In your own words "They don't have be crazy good at loops" and you apparently made them drop 3 good pallets and the shack pallet INSTANTY. You should have been golden in that match 4 good pallets before 3 generators? So what went wrong? Any competent killers would have a field day in that situation and you expect me to believe you got beat by M1 alone?
Damn guess out of my nearly 2k hours with the game I've been versing potato survivors 90% of the time.
Hate to break it to you but I win most matches. Not a brag that's just how it is. I'm not pretending like I faced 4 man premade teams that are navy seals every match. Competent killers win most of their matches and then lose once to coordinated survivors.

Pretty sure if you read what I posted originally you'd have seen the example I made was regressing two gens at the start and getting 3 jungle gym pallets and killer shack pallet out of the game and you are inclined to think I dont know how to pressure people, okay.
Against good players you either lose your totem in the first minute or randomly go to gens to get people off em and still never manage to actually regress them
Yes, if you're on your last gen plus its 90% on your 4TH HOOK then you don't know how to pressure at all lmfao.
-
look in the general discussions lots of topics about it.
-
The actual match starts when there's 1-3 generators left as sad that sounds but it is what it is. I would like to see footage of your match because I'm inclined to believe you just don't know how to pressure people at all and overcommitting to chases that would lose you the match. Don't get me wrong the game has balancing issues but half the time people in the forum don't know how to play their roles and doesn't realize they were the one themselves who threw the match then just regurgitating the same old arguments.
-
This is a question that should be answered by you lol. Watch some videos and see what looks the most enjoyable to you.
But if you're looking for killers to get with the most helpful perks then people can help you.

Coming from the guy who wants to defend the game like its a family member.
I havent played the game nor logged in here in a long time. Of course an update this bad has everyone talking, everyone is laughing at how bad it is. I saw it mentioned by someone on my twitter and checked it out. If you consider logging into an existing account after a few months to have a good laugh “living rent free” then I think it says more about you.
I didn't defend the game though?
Just pointed something funny about the whole thing. No need to justify the rent lmao.
-
Sounds like quitting the game for months didn't help your mental state since the game is still living rent free inside your head lol.
-
What's funny is that the match usually starts when there's 1-3 generators left with a killer trying to take the last generator hostage until he can permanently remove players off the match. The boon totem eliminates 3 gen strategies since a Survivor can just get hit run to some part of the map a killer can't afford to go into then permanently heal rinse and repeat. And if you do decide to destroy that totem the survivor can just relit it again lmao

Survivors don't have all the time in the world though. Time is precious to both sides. Completing gens is top priority and the games objective but survivor has a plethora of other side objectives that they can do/certain perks encourage.
Boons will be another perk that encourages survivors to seek out and bless totems encouraging a side objective other than gens. Unless the boons offer some insane bonus to repair speed I highly doubt that they will become this great issue that you're all making them out to be. Killer doesn't HAVE to waste their time looking for and breaking them.
Again it's all too early to tell since we need to see what the actual boons do. Obviously they won't do "nothing" and I'm sure they also won't have some crazy effects like Ruin. I'm expecting a middle ground otherwise people just won't run them at all.
Again, they are going to encourage survivors to do something other than gens. Literally what more do killers want
Time isn't as precious for Survivor in comparison lmao. I never had a single match I was stressed out to the brim on managing what's happening to the game compared to the killer. This isn't even rocket science. You have 4 people in your team that could pick up your mistakes if you weren't paying attention and in that same vain you have 3 other people doing what needs to be done.
Ah yes. The totems that spawn beside you or the first tile you see lol. Boons doesn't have to be overpowered. It only has to be annoying enough that Killer is plagued by it by the entirety of the match. Despite the killer being annoyed by it he barely has any time to even destroy it.
Are you thinking this through? The survivor doing something else means the killer has to do something about it as well. That's the problem mate. It makes sense if ONLY the survivor has to think about a secondary objective. Why the hell does a killer have to put some thought on doing about it when his schedule is packed already through the brim. Especially if you're an M1 killer with no mobility?
-
@BadMrFrosty said:
They don't play the game at any level that matters which means their entire design process goes: concept --> paper --> implementation.
Normal folks would ask about the testing phase, to which I very politely respond with "lmao."
You would think that would be the point of test servers for people to test ideas but implement it anyway the next week regardless of feedback lol
-
@ukenicky said:
I love how everyone is glazing over the fact that boons are going to be a side objective for survivors as well.
It takes time to bless and put a boon in place. It's already been confirmed that should a Killer find said boon totem they can remove it very quickly = a potential waste of the survivors time.
And we don't even know if the boons will be worthwhile either. I swear.. Watch the boons have weak effects and nobody end up using them 😔
But yeah, the way I'm seeing it is this is incentivizing survivors to do something other than gens and nobody is thinking on that lol additionally it will hopefully be fun. I really like the idea behind it and adding more mechanics into the game. Again this is all too early to be throwing tantrums over but hey go off
The problem is survivors have all the time in the world lmao again they're 4 people and the killer is one person and investing time igniting boons means the killer has to waste time destroying it and that's where the problem shows. Survivors have time, Killer doesn't.
Then we go into more complicated stuff like totem placement. Most killer don't have the leisure of mobility to waste time just going from place to place. Only Freddy has that time on the M1 killers list since he has built in power to be on top of generators immediately.
As for how powerful boons are. It would be pretty worthless if it doesn't do anything when the developers were to proud of their big brain idea. At least it would be annoying throughout the whole match because that's how hex are and that can be an incentive for killers to remove it wait even if they want to remove it they don't have the time lol.
-
@Mr_K said:
Clearly killers have too much time on their hands.
Yeah probably should be playing on survivor side instead. They put maximum focus on a match after all unlike a killer who can just leisure listen to music and win.
-
So are they changing some perks into hex? Like all exhaustion perks are in one boon(obviously op for the killer but just an example)
-
It's gonna be strong enough that you have to at least cleanse it otherwise it would be annoying through the whole match. Either way I still can't believe we're at that point where a killer has to look for hex totem jesus christ.
-
Have an absolute blast dodging Pyramid head's power as opposed to Death slinger who isn't just fun to go against since it's just impossible to react when he's just doing quick scopes lol
-
But it's not the usual meta slow down perks. People should be having fun with this :^)
-
Waiting for the next update where the killer has to do generators.

Nothing's really changed, no. People just really seem to think SBMM does something at all.
Only thing I noticed is SBMM does give you horrible survivors to play with a lot lot more and I've been saying all their matchmaking implementation doesn't do anything and has stayed the same for years but this one takes the cake. The worst survivor experience I had grinding to red ranks.
Killer is perfectly fine since you rely on your skills. If you're a competent killer you should be winning most matches and losing once here and there.

Did you just ignore what I was saying or are you purposely trying to start a fight? I was talking about how SBMM is matching me against people that are far higher in skill than me. This is most likely because there aren't enough high MMR Killers to match against high MMR survivors. So yeah, pitting a casual Killer against high MMR survivors on comms isn't going to end well. The fun goes right out the window because sweat must be met with sweat, otherwise the match is over within a few minutes.
Ah yes. The classic defense where a good killer is whining he's going against survivors his own level but please give me special privilege for I am using meme builds so give me noob players too :((.
Sounds like you care about winning lol.

I used to not care about winning or losing as I would use the builds that I found the most fun, but ever since SBMM has been activated, generators just fly thanks to well coordinated SWF. After endearing match after match of being down to one generator within 3 to 4 minutes, it makes one go back to using slow down builds.
Sounds like you care about winning. Imagine using meme builds and expecting generators to get slowed down then have an existential crisis when generators fly by lul
-
I'm just bored of Vampires and Werewolves by now. The amount of different renditions on media over the years made me so bored of their design and I don't think BHVR would make it any interesting too.
Last time a vampire imotiff made me impressed is Darkest dungeon where blood sucking Mosquitoes are the design choice for vampires and I don't think it has been done before.
-
Imagine using meme builds but also caring about winning at the same time. Such a contradiction to me.
-
If she plays the way I'm imagining. I would say I'll only play Spirit if they revert back Stridor which is fair now in Spirit's current state.

Thana is better then dying light in practically every circumstance.
Dying light only affects 2-3 survivors, takes ages before it starts being usefull and buffs one of the survivors healing speed so it denies you pressure/blood orbs.
Hell dying light is so bad i think i would actually prefer nothing over it
Dying light is my go to for Oni when this big fella is downing two guys anyways.

I agree, it's "wrong" as you say. But unfavorable maps are balanced by favorable maps, so the game overall is balanced.
Nah. Maps that its heavily sided on one side shouldn't exist for both. At best they should strive for a map to be slightly killer/survivor sided.

Perhaps there are flaws. That's why I asked to be proved wrong. I want to know what those flaws are.
Huge maps like haddonfield and any killer without mobility displays what's wrong with the game.
-
I don't know why people keep healing under hooks. Doesn't DS disable if you made any interactions? It's giving the killer free estate to tunnel; you if he ever decide to come back and saw you got touched for a second lol
-
I wouldn't say it's PERFECTLY balanced but I would say it's in a good place right now compared to what like two years ago or more lol.
Obviously there is flaws still that I doubt is ever getting fixed though.
-
I don't know man have you ever played CIV 5 ?
-
Yeah that was stupid af.
I think this is the only purple add on that screws the killer this badly lol. This kind of downside is only present in garbage tier ultra rare add ons.
-
I would imagine Stridor would a really good choice now since Survivors can react to phasing now and to counter iron will.

And this attitude is why I have so much fun here :)
no you have no idea what the effects or the actual implementation are. Or how the killer actually will be able to interact/counter them. You are just assuming how it could be and already judging it just by your assumption.
I don't need to know the effects. You can assume it's strong if the killer has to worry about it, That's all hex perks. They're strong if left unattended.
Hate to break your bubble but BHVR has a track record of not putting any innovative mechanics and if they do It all revolves around preexisting mechanics(Blue totem very creative). EGC was the only thing that changed the game somewhat differently but the game stayed relatively the same.
-

You literally don’t know how it will work and what kind of effects those perks may have??
I don't need to know how it works. How else would it work it's a totem for survivors lmao.
-
I don't know how anyone can argue that this is a good idea unless you're a survivor main. Just the idea of them entertaining a survivor hex totem is just bonkers to me.
I was joking two years ago that they might as well let the killer cleanse the totem because ruin op but they took it literally lmao.
-
Realistically speaking? Nothing. There's no such thing as buff or nerf that wouldn't hurt solo in the process. Also to the people suggesting making Kindred base kits honestly have no idea what they're talking about. It'll just make SWF twice as efficient since you can have a clear vision on what generators are getting worked on and whatever. Believe it or not but most SWF are not speaking in military comms or have the teamwork to work like they're in one body but Kindred base kit would help that.
Only thing they could do is the killer having an idea how much is in the team and let him be able to change the killer he wants in lobby.
-
I main both sides. I face palm when I get this map and when I play survivor I praise the sun for this luck.

There's absolutely a gamble on perk selection as counterplay, and the idea that 'chances are you're on a safe tile' is RNG dependent whether you want to be honest about it or not.
Sure, there's stuff that can be used against it. That's not a flaw. Good game mechanics require a give and take. The fact that the counterplay is niche relegates it to our minor back and forth, rather than a real and glaring issue with the design.
Eh just agree to disagree man. Honestly I'd rather not go hard on a fictional perk anymore.
-
If MMR isn't working they should just let killers be able to switch different killers in lobbies again.

'Ease' implies an absence of difficulty, while ignoring that a counterplay perk for either side is essentially a gamble every time - saying the idea is easily countered by 1. map RNG/design or 2. equipping Alert is an exaggeration both of the need for counterplay and the agency of player control.
There is no gamble on a silent pallet break pallet lol. Bruh just look at the animation lmao and again rng doesn't matter since if you're trying to mind game chances are you're in a SAFE tile. Doesn't matter if you fake a break survivor can just react and vault back to the pallet because again SAFE tile.
What about about Alert not being Meta? The fact that a perk exist that completely destroy this perk should be pointed out.
It's a perk discussion. Flaws should be pointed out - I'm not shutting his perk down. I'm creating incentive for him to think on how to improve around said flaws.
