  • It’s funny because if DS actually became something that properly counters tunnelling then it would be a lot stronger than it is now and the killers would cry even more

I'm kinda scared to touch or play as freddy anymore. He is getting nerfed we know that but how much will behavior destroy him? Is he going to be like the old freddy again? I mean they are nerfing everything killer and buffing everything survivor. They dont care about killers and I main wraith and freddy atm. Wraith is casual(he sucks dog poop so why try hard with the worst killer in game) and freddy(when I want more then a single kill per game or get tired of being called trash). Any suggestions on new killers to main?

You should probably stick with Freddy, He’s easy to use for low skilled players

I’m pretty sure the devs said that once a successful transfer occurs, Undying gets disabled. So it’s still only 2 cleanses. Unless I misunderstood what the devs said.

Wait I just thought it meant it’s transferring power of other perks gets disabled. Tbh I’m not actually sure which one it is then

  • Be honest, you don't want to play a challenging asymmetrical horror game the requires strategy, thinking and skill to win.

You want a cheap power fantasy, where you get to beat the good guys.

You want to be the villain, without the effort.

You want to win, without a chance to lose.

You want to bully the puny humans because you don't have the strength of character to fight the real ones.

You are so scared of failure, that should something challenge to take away the tools you use to cheaply steal victory, you scream about it.

You are not the main character, you are not the only person playing, you are not entitled to win, no one else is either.

Dead By Daylight should be made much harder, no more instadowns, no more easy ways of locating survivors, you want to get kills? Work smart or don’t kill. Do you want them all to survive? Train your stealth, learn how to loop, and speak up if the survivor role doesn't feel like it’s possible to survive.

The survivor role is a joke, with exceptions. If facing 4 survivors is not a challenge something is wrong. In a proper asymmetrical game, the survivor role should have a chance of surviving, you should be wary of wasting time, knowing that survivors could be doing gens and getting run about is dangerous. It isn't, not to myself or any other truly experienced killers.

I mean, I run no perks or add ons, and can still get 4 kills against these solo queue pests. That should tell you something is up.

  • Wait it didn’t need needing but then you say it only needed the aura readings removed. That’s a nerf so you just contradicted yourself. The devs can see stats and against solo queue I wouldn’t be surprised if the kill rate was around 90%. There’s probably a good reason they nerfed it

I have I have a question. Isn't it better to run haunted ground instead of undying? At least it gives you 60 precious seconds, undying what does it give you?

If a survivors spawns in front of ruin then with undying you still keep ruin, with haunted ground you don’t. Big difference

  • Actually if ruin is cleansed then it transfers. Which still leaves 2 active totems. It could then be a 50/50 whether ruin is cleansed or undying (not entirely 50/50 if you know some info already but not the point). If undying is cleansed next it’s 3 totems to cleanse before ruin is gone not 2 which for players who haven’t played enough to memorise all totem spots can be pretty difficult to find. It also has the aura reading so it’s deffo better at protecting ruin than just running it with another perk. Whether it’s worth running or not I’m not too sure yet, probably not but it’s not as bad as everyone is making it out to be

  • Or why not just play the game as it’s meant and stop making it ######### for everyone in the lobby.

  • So when a killer is in the pre match lobby he can see the survivors and what items they bring. And that’s fair. But why is it fair that the survivor can’t see who the killer is or the add ins they bring.

anyway you see where I’m going

I think they should reduce the distance it grants. It is supposed to be a SHORT dash forward, not a long one.

Really? Any shorter and you would still get hit by the end of a lunge that you tried to dead hard through...

  • Want happened to people that actually try to learn and improve from better players. It seems now everyone just cries as soon as they play against someone or a team that are better than them.

I didn't say it was op like i also said i don't fall for the run into me dead hard, i mean it can give way more time to a survivor than they deserve it by reaching a window or pallet they wouldn't have reached otherwise or reaching a pallet and since they have DH are super greedy and run around it again

And our perks to decrease chase times are? bamboozle? 15% faster? brutal strength? 20% faster? stblf, exposed perks which again must be triggered by you survivors, what else? where are the others "plenty" perks that makes chases end faster for us? a loop is a loop and unless you are a spirit nurse or deathslinger, you can't always deny the loop and so those "plenty"of perks you are talking about aren't that effective and if you manage to mind game them or they make a big mistake nope, E outplay

Babmboozle on the right killer is strong as ######### and completely gets rid of loops. Where did you get 15% from? It’s 15% faster vault but blocks it too, I could run a killer in shack for over a minute, use bamboozle and I can’t run it at all and have to waste the pallet or get hit. Bamboozle ends the potential to loop, dead hard gives an extra chance to loop. But the difference? Bamboozle has no cool down whereas dead hard can only be used once in a chase. That’s just one example of a perk which you clearly have no idea about or how to use.

  • If you honestly think that dead hard is OP then you must be a terrible killer. Most of the time survivors bring it to a game it’s basically a wasted perk as it doesn’t change most chases at all against a decent killer. Every now and then it gets them distance to a window or pallet and can add some time to a chase. But killers have plenty of perks and other things to decrease chase time so what’s the issue

I guess where you and I differ is that the game IS fun for me. I play both Killer and Survivor. I run into the same things you do. I deal with them. I believe it is that our expectations are fundamentally different. I don't believe that any game is fun. You bring the fun with you. If you accept the parameters of the game, get down with the challenge, and don't let it tilt you, the fun is in the journey, not the destination. We all have goals of course. We all want to be the best, but those of us who have the most fun, aren't only getting our enjoyment from feeding the ego. I enjoy a game I lose, even when I'm camped, tunneled, and given the Mori. I know those things exist. I know the risk.

For example, in the real world, every person who free climbs, climbs mountains, etc. knows that at any moment a simple mistake can kill them. They know they even when they do everything right, the mountain might still kill them. They climb the mountain because it is there. Do you follow? In the real world, my sport of choice is Fencing. Tournaments for Fencing are kind of a grab bag, not unlike Dead by Daylight. To maintain your rating you must constantly be competing and winning in tournaments that have other Fencers with the desired rating. What this means is really good Fencers often have their ratings slip simply because of not having the time to maintain it. So you might end up competing against a bunch of beginners or someone who once earned medals. Do you follow? One doesn't throw down one's blade and stomp off the strip screaming about the unfairness of it all. You put your head down and say, damn straight, I get to take on this legend!

I don't believe it is anyone's job to make the game fun for you or for me. I bring my own fun. Hopefully, we will all have fun (win or lose) for love of the game itself. Do I always agree with the DEV? No. I submit suggestions from time to time, but I don't come to whine about things. I suspect that keeping the game as balanced as possible is MORE important to those whose jobs rely on it than it is to me (or any Player). That is their concern. I control the things I can control. There are Campers in the game? I work on how I will deal with them; it doesn't involve venting here. There is a difference between a rant, screed, grief, shaming, and actual constructive suggestions. Sometimes you might be saying the same thing, but it is all in the wording. Delivery matters. I don't believe for a second most of the damn posts here about Camping, Tunneling, NOED, or the Mori are really directed at the DEV. They are just people throwing a tantrum and hoping to grief/shame other Players.

I agree with most of what you say, I have fun playing this game most of the time and for me playing a game is about having fun and being able to actually play the game. I’ve played many other computer games and I have fun basically every time I play it because it’s designed in a way to allow you to have fun. Rocket league for example, a game I play where I’ve never had a game where I can say it wasn’t fun. I’ve been absolutely destroyed in games but I can still play the game, have fun and learn. The thing with camping is it’s completely out of your control as a survivor. There’s nothing you can do if a killer wants to camp and ruin a game. Now imagine getting facecamping games multiple times in a row? If you still think you would have fun then damn I wish I could be entertained so much by doing nothing, I wouldn’t even need to play games anymore.

The last part I disagree with, it is someone’s job to make the game fun, and that is the developers of the game. I’m sure even you agree that facecamping can make the game boring for every player in that match and doesn’t benefit anyone. So why shouldn’t something be done about. And yeah most people on this forum just whine and cry for literally anything, but at the same time a complaint doesn’t need a solution with it to be constructive, just pointing out something that could be improved is without having a suggestion is still constructive

  • Survivors rely on exhaustion perks? Of course they do, perks are in the game to help you out and these have a huge cool down. They’re designed to be used to help the user out, just like every killer perk helps a killer out.

‘Dead hard is super OP and can extend a chase by 30 secs’

Then bamboozle is OP cos it can reduce a chase by 30 secs

  • @Moundshroud said:

To further address this issue, let me talk about some other games. I will do so in broad terms to be polite to them. There are some war games that have Snipers. These guys and gals can get into position and literally kill people the second they try to step out of the building in which they spawned. In some cases, you can be killed the moment you spawn. There are games where you can be blocked and locked and held down for hours at a time. There are games where you can build up your peaceful little farm, never harm a soul and along comes some black-hearted raiders who kill your sheep and cows, burn your crops, rob you blind, and then as an afterthought, kill you.

All of these games have one thing in common; they are PvP games. They rely on the agency of the Players. Rules are clear, and everyone knows that bad things can happen to you at any time. The games aren't at fault, because you CHOOSE to play them even if you don't like getting a bullet in the brain every time you spawn. Those black-hearted raiders aren't at fault for being black-hearted raiders. You knew they existed. You knew it could all fall apart when you decided to be a defenseless farmer. You CHOSE to play that game. You CHOSE your role. You rolled the dice. Do you see where I'm going with this?

Dead by Daylight is a PvP game where some Players take on the roles of people desperately trying to Survive the onslaught of brutal murderers, and some people play the horrific Killers. We all know that the Killers mean harm. We all know that they can choose to camp you, tunnel you, slug you, and/or Mori you. We know they don't have to be fair about it. There is no Geneva Convention in the Entity's Realm. Survivors don't owe Killers anything other than playing by the rules, and vice versa. That means you can click your flashlights to be annoying, body block, choose Survivor friendly maps, and do your crazy SWF builds, using communication outside the game too. The Killer is going to decide how he/she feels it is best to try to destroy you and they are not obligated to any unofficial morays you want to apply to them.

So let me repeat, the only thing people should be remaining true to is:

    1. Don't cheat, either by hack or lag spikes.
    2. Don't quit; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

And for the record, giving people grief (or trying to shame them) because you feel they camped or tunneled you is not being gracious in defeat. It would be the opposite. Nobody loves being camped, tunneled, or left on the ground for long periods of time. It means that even if things are going well for the group, it is not going well for you personally. That is something we all endure. Some of us accept it is part of the game and get on with our lives. Some of you just can't stop whining about it.

I agree with this and of course people will camp and be toxic and ######### like that if the game allows. Don’t hate the player, hate the game (or developers of the game). But that’s the main issue, it’s a game that’s meant to be fun and if there’s aspects that can make the game terrible and boring to play surely that should be changed and would it be changed if people didn’t complain. Cod had a multiplayer map where the spawns were really bad so everyone was getting spawn killed a lot, people complained and guess what, the game developers changed the game so that this bad experience of being spawn killed doesn’t happen anymore. The main issue isn’t the people doing it, because let’s be honest most humans are dicks and will always take advantage of whatever they can. The issue is that nothing is done about something in the game that ruins the fun and experience people have playing it. Imagine the devs made a couple infinite loops that ruined the game for killers because you literally can’t do nothing about it. Would you not complain or just say, oh it’s part of the game can’t do anything about it

In some cases you're right but not always. Many games have situations that one role engages in, but yet the developer will still remedy the player induced and created problem. The developers have already stated that face camping isn't ideal for either side but they've also stated that they don't think it's enough of a problem because the numbers aren't there.

What’s enough of a problem and how could they even get numbers on how many people camp? I personally know 2 people who stopped playing the game because camping just made the game too boring for them to play. How many other people have quit the game early because of this? If things like this which ruin the fun of the whole game weren’t possible imagine how much bigger the player base could have been?

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1852969#Comment_1852969

Actually, that is exactly what it means. All a Player has to do to be a "good sport" is:

    1. Don't cheat, either by hacks or lag spikes.
    2. Don't quit; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

That's it. The word "toxic" has no meaning here because everyone tosses it around for whatever their personal hobby horse may be. Playing with the rules, is by definition, is meeting one of the plans of being a good sport. Your personal preferences have no bearing on this discussion.

That’s one of the most confidently incorrect posts I’ve seen on here, and there’s many bad ones

  • @Equus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1852831#Comment_1852831

In my experience there isn't a real problem I almost never see a real facecamp happen unless it is endgame and then I get the strategy. I've never had multiple games in a row where facecamping happens. If the team acts smart the killer only gets one kill + it is boring as hell so no sensible killer will keep this playstyle up forever. Proxycamping is something I see quite often but this just takes skill and knowing when is the best opportunity to get the save.

Edit: also trying to save when they facecamp gives the killer more kills + noone on gens so win-win situation. After the hooked person dies there has been nothing done and the killer can go hook and camp the next person.

Most of the time it’s not a huge problem and not that common, but just the other day I had 3 games in a row against a face camping bubba. With the queue times and loading that’s nearly an hour of my time wasted as it was extremely boring. First two games I did the gens and escaped, final game I just traded and let the camped guy out. After this I just opened up a different game cos what’s the point playing a game where you could literally do nothing for a whole hour

  • @Equus said:

I have no idear why you would camp that early since it is quite boring for the killer as well. Some nights all the facecampers seem to be out and that's when I switch on steve with camaraderie and tell my team I have this perk. I'll be hanging around a little longer (vibing to my music) while the team gets more gen time.

The real problem is in solo most people try saving which gives the killer more kills. It's crap for the hooked one but if we want to punish this the team needs to genrush. But to be fair I haven't been facecamped in over a month while I almost play daily.

No that’s not the real problem. How is trying to add a bit of excitement to an extremely dull game the problem. Imagine playing 5 games in a row where the killer facecamps, whether or not you’re the one that’s hooked, that’s 5 games of doing basically nothing other than holding m1. This is the kind of thing that makes people quit the game cos it’s so boring.

You’re the one wasting the survivors time by being an afk killer, it’s boring as ######### playing against that especially after some daft queue times.

Devs tried this concept once, and Just like always survivors can abuse it. So the devs deleted the concept.

What was it they actually did to try then? Cos if they tried then it clearly shows that even the devs agree it’s a problem, they just don’t have the idea to actually prevent it without causing other issues. And then they’ve just given up trying? That sounds like some great development skills.

Jesus this thread is a mess.

Yes gen rushing is unrealistic as a lot of people are saying. You are not going to be in every match with a deathsquad of survs who will do that.

Point is however is that why should they be able to do it in the first place, and why is game not being balanced around those people playing?

Cause i know i can double pip with the surv while dying in a match, but killer, oh boy good luck with that

And that’s like saying why is it possible to have 4K with 5 gens left, it happens plenty against solo q survivors. So now which way do you change it...

Face camping - the act of standing in front of the hook and literally, physically blocking a survivor from unhooking. You've been able to unhook from every direction since 2016. Face camping does not exist.

Actually be knowledgeable on terms and phrases that have been in the game longer than you've been playing, then you're allowed to challenge me.

Yes you play killer and think a survivor can run a competent killer for 5 gens? I don’t care how long you’ve played if you think this can be done then you must be terrible at the game. Experience doesn’t equal skill

  • Yes make it even more unplayable as a solo survivor. Cmon devs let’s kill the, balance everything around the top 0.5% of the play base. Who cares about everyone else they should just uninstall cos they have no friends

Hard for you maybe. Survivors have all the resources they need to never, ever get caught. In both map resources and their perks.

Lol you wouldn’t even last like 45 secs against a competent killer, the games designed so that the killer catches the survivor. This sounds like you’ve chased someone you couldn’t catch which just shows you’re terrible at the game

  • They are being toxic or they are giving hatch and don’t want you to wiggle. Mostly they are being toxic. (Oh wait only survivors can be toxic my bad)

  • @Tsulan said:

Twins are/is the weakest killer (so far). Only "strength" being camping isn´t really a strength. Its just the more simpliest tactic a killer can apply. A rank 20 killer with no experience will camp. Doesn´t mean he´s strong or good. Twins would need a huge buff to give the killers more chances to play out their strengths.

That’s makes no sense at all. Obviously anyone can camp experienced or not. But with the twins you can camp on hook while still pressuring and downing others, that’s what makes them so powerful. No other killer can do that except hag to an extent. If you want a 4K it’s one of the strongest killers in the game. But it’s extremely boring to play against and I’m guessing to play as too

  • It would be nice to have it as an option. AI survivors would be great to try different killers especially. But playing AI on most games become very boring and predictable after a bit. In this game it would be very boring quick as most of the fun is from mind games and out smarting the other side

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/216540/just-do-gens-if-the-killer-is-facecamping

We all agree it sucks. Personally i think they should make kindred base kit. But that still doesn't solve the problem.

How would you prevent the killer from facecamping with an in-game mechanic that is not abusable by survivors to give them an advantage?

That’s the only reason facecamping still exists, because the devs can’t figure out a way to stop it without causing other issues. If they had a way they would have done it because it ruins the fun of the game. Yet we’ll see loads of killers defend facecamping because it’s in the game but when it comes to dc’ing they’re like OMG you ruin fun you should be banned for life bla bla bla

  • Well the best way to improve is to face better players and learning from how they play. Camping because you get good opponents is the best way to stay bad at the game as you’ll never figure out how to outplay them

  • @sulaiman said:

I dont think so. I do camp as a killer, but mostly if i am matched against way better players than myself, because its the only way i have to keep up, and i know they come to me.

Has nothing to do with trolling, it has to do with the fact that it works, and up to 3 players come running to you, and even hooktrading so you get your hooks even though you are basicly outmatched (thats why you try to avoid chases you cant win, and this way, you do)

And that’s why you will always suck and never improve at the game.

  • They have nothing to do with each other and don’t need to be done at the same time

    in Moris Comment by Mugombo
  • Some matches it’s impossible to find hex totems which makes it OP

  • The games meant to be balanced to get 2 kills per match, not 4kills while eating your dinner

Dude, are you seriously comparing this video game to human rights violations? You have serious issues and a profound lack of context. If you are unhappy with the game, don't play it. Don't compare your freedom to choose which games you play to the actual suffering of people who do not have a choice.

Lol no you’re the one that was trying to act righteous by saying don’t ruin someone else fun. When I asked have you ruined anyone else fun, you said yes because it’s not against the rule to ruin someone’s fun your way but it is to dc. So despite both doing the exact same thing of ruining someone’s fun, because one is written down as a rule it’s wrong but the other is right. Yes my example was extreme but it’s still contradicting what you’re saying. You said it’s okay to ruin someone’s fun because it’s not against the rules. So rules are always right it your eyes?

Again, and I'm truly concerned for you that I have to explain this, it isn't hypocrisy at all. There is what is legal in the game and what is not legal in the game. Disconnecting is against the rules. Using the tools the DEV have designed and put in for use is not. They are apples an oranges. How is it you cannot understand this?

Yes and in some countries it’s the rule that women aren’t allowed to drive, just because it’s a rule and other things aren’t doesn’t make it morally right

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1837685#Comment_1837685

I have been tunneled, camped, slugged, and been dispatched by a Mori. I have likewise, in my time, done those same things if/when a specific match called for them. They are valid, legal tactics. Do I do them often? No. Those things are niche tools. I have never used the Iridescent Hatchets because I don't play the Huntress. Would I use them? I'm sure I would from time to time as they are currently part of her legal options. Have I used the Tombstone? Yes, obviously. I'm a Myers player. Do I use it often? No. By in large the Tombstone is counterproductive to BP and emblem advancement. I have a massive stockpile of them because I generally only take one out if I get a Daily telling me to kill by my own hand.

Using those things is not selfish because they are part of the game. Quitting the game is not. Disconnecting is an offense which is against the rules and will draw a ban. People who come in to play the game KNOW what is legal and what isn't. The accept that the Tombstone Piece and all the rest exist, and make a choice to play anyway. The social contract is that they understand the rules of the game, what is legal, and that they will complete the game. For the same reason, you will never hear me say a single thing about Survivors and their builds. Their builds and add-on(s) are their business, not mine. Do you follow?

Your inability to understand basic good sportsmanship is disturbing to me. Let me break it down very simply. A game has rules. When you agree to play a game you are agreeing to play by its rules. As long as you and your opponent remain within the rules, neither you nor the opponent has the right to say diddly squat.

    1. Don't cheat, either by lag spike or hacks.
    2. Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory, and gracious in defeat.

That's it. That is something we all learned in Kindergarten.

Nice hypocrisy right there. So you can do things that ruin the fun for others because it’s in the game but others can’t do the same. The leave button is in the game and so is the matchmaking ban

I wouldn't be. I would be just fine with it. While there are Killers who whine, most don't. The Forum here is a like a Funhouse Mirror, skewing perception of Killers and Survivors alike. Let me lay something out:

    1. The Forum is NOT the DbD community.
    2. At best the folks at the Forum are a tiny minority of the people who actually play the game.
    3. Most people who play the game don't post here, come here, nor will they ever post anything on social media.
    4. The people who come here to vent a spleen are simply more motivated by angst than most people who are content.
    5. If you do an experiment (I did) and count every game, salt at the end, who does it, etc. you will find most people don't.
    6. In fact, you will find that more of your games are populated by decent or at least neutral people by a large margin.

So let me correct you on something, not every Killer in the game is crying, nor is every Survivor whining. It is a very vocal minority that makes it seem that way if you give undo weight to this Forum.

Okay I should have put it this way. The people who are crying about ds already, will cry even harder

I could not have better illustrated the problem, i.e. the mindset of a quitter, than you did for me with your post. If they don't enjoy the game, they shouldn't have started it. Where is your disconnect? I play Survivor too; I get that map just as often as anyone else. I don't quit the game because of it, or the Killer I see. I don't quit just because I get caught early. I play the game, and even on that map I can prevail with help from the other Survivors.

Your entitled, selfish mindset, i.e. if I'm not having fun I leave anytime I want is exactly the problem. It means you only care about you. You blew off all the other players in the match. If you don't have fun playing this game, you shouldn't play this game. Only a screaming, whining brat upends the table and storms out when things aren't going their way.

In regards to the DC penalty, it does work. Prior to them implementing it we saw brats in almost every single match. Now I see them far less frequently. Good riddance. About the only thing you said with any validity is that I gambled when I put in a match offering. That is true; someone else could also have put in a map offering, or blocked mine. That is the expected bet. What is not supposed to part of the equation is spoiled, whining brats who dump the match.

So have you ever tunnelled or camped as a killer, used the old mori, iri hatchets, tombstone plus many more? Because from your explanation you have to give everyone a chance of having fun and being killed or facing any of these is not usually fun for any of the survivors. Which makes you entitled and selfish by your own defenition

  • Imagine DS actually become something that completely stopped tunnelling but you couldn’t use it offensively. Every killer in the game would be crying

  • So in other words you found an excuse to defend being a ######### camper? Nice

  • DS isn’t meant to have a counter, it is meant to be the counter to tunnelling

  • Why do you need to be convinced otherwise? You are allowed an opinion you know

  • So there was 3 gens left to do, 3 people on hook and 1 guy downed and you still lost?

So when they never had ds you could down all 4 survivors and hook 3. But as soon as 1 used ds you can no longer down anyone and lose the game even with 3 gens left?
