Still unhappy that my first prestige cost me my last Splinter, that I'll tell ya.
I don't think this change should have been implemented, to be honest. Keeping your stuff and unlocking perks for everyone is okay, but forcing a journey to P100? That is way too much.
Every killer that plays consistently will reach P100 eventually, it is merely a matter of time, because otherwise they can't get more add-ons. I don't think this is okay.
Just to be clear, I'm not advocating for them changing the current system to remove inventory. I'm not asking for any changes to the current system.
-
At a basic level, mmr keeps new players away from experienced players. But DBD even fails at that at times.

I don't think there should be a reward for P100, but I don't really understand this argument.
Some players never bothered to go all the way to P3 and that actually gave you a reward. I wonder why would they think P100 is any different.
The cosmetics weren't worth losing everything for many. It didn't become a big deal until they anounced the new system that many grinded to P3.
It's the risk of giving something that everyone would want to have. Something that casual players would feel was unattainable to them. The flip side, if the Devs do give something that's inconsequential you will have those like OP that demand more. Just like the P3 days where some wanted more than bloody cosmetics.

They knew there was no reward for it but they are asking change for it and that's how forum works? If you are unhappy about something, you can suggest changes. And Op just did that.
The question is why this bothered you that much? Want a cookie?
It's not that. It's the constant I did something reward me mentality. No one is twisting your arm to dump all bloodpoints into one chatacter. How about those players made just as much bp but that spread them across multiple characters? Are they less worthy?
To put it mildly, this prestige system is automatic and doesn't take anything special to do. You must prestige to continue buying addons or items. This isn't the old system where you give up entire inventories and start from 0. Even in that system you have these types that thought bloody cosmetics weren't enough.
If the P100 badge wasn't enough then why did you do it?
-
Were you expecting something? Were you lied to? Was it not your choice to do? Want a cookie?
-
I don't really think about bloodwarden. But if I do, it would be fondly.
-
I would error on the side they are cheating. Not many Legacy players play anymore and they wouldn't go as far to sign up a bhvr account, install DBD on Epic, and play there instead of Steam.

Never thought I'd see the day where people complain about Deja Vu. Is saving 5 seconds on a gen and seeing a few auras really so upsetting?
I've been warning about it for years!

So a survivor waste 30s gen tapping? Sounds like Pop wasn't needed here.
To the title.
If the Devs support an exploit then it's no longer an exploit. An exploit is an unintended game design but if the Devs accept something, even originally unintended, then it becomes intended.

I don't know what you mean by survivor DCing when they are overwhelming winning?
You have to compare killers giving up compared to survivors. I think considering that survivors are the ones that often have no will to play it stands to reason the game is unbalanced very much against survivors.
There are killers that feel the same. Difference is they are alone while survivors rely on eachother to play their role. When a survivor DCs it has a major impact to the remaining survivors. Those survivors will too stop playing if every match is met with a teammate giving up because X killer or other random reason.
I don't know what you mean by survivor DCing when they are overwhelming winning?
The point is you don't see it happening. A survivor handedly beating a killer isn't going to believe the game is unbalanced in their favor. They won't look at the situation and think things are too easy and leave the match.
-
Feel there is more to it than a perk choice. Did you hide all match and do nothing?
Running distortion doesn't make you bad, letting teammates die while UE around the map does, for example.
Unless they called out the perk in chat as the reason.
-
@mecca said:
That's basically a symptom of an unbalanced game.
You might want to play the game but it seems the others already know the match is lost which is a problem with the game.
Killers keep being buffed without any regards to fair gameplay for both sides. Both sides want a fair chance at winning and only one side(the killer) is the only one that can do that.
Unbalanced in the wrong direction you mean. How often do you see a survivor DC when they are overwhelming winning? (Outside a crash of course.) You may see the killer DC but does your excuse work for them? No, they be ridiculed as pathetic, just like survivors that abandon their team.
-
People here trying to make sense of the nonsensical. Because they can is the answer. Yes it can be done today without 99ing the gen, but having the gens at perma 99 is just that little extra.
-
Fun fact, you don't need to play a character to level them to P100, nor do you need to be good with them.

It literally cannot be any worse than it is now.
"But comp players will play against casuals!"
Oh, you mean the same exact thing as right now except there's a DC penalty? Oh wow, the horror!
There's literally not a single argument left against separate gamemodes. People are starting to wake up to the fact that getting lobbies instantly doesn't mean anything if it's ten cracked Blights in a row.
A casual mode would imply a casual match. That is the difference. You go into a match today and you may get a tryhard or casual. You would expect and be perpared for both. In a casual mode any action resembling a tryhard would be viewed as griefing to any other player. If you play several matches of this type in a casual setting you may just quit because the alternative is the comp mode.
Like many have said already, there will be a set of people who will play the casual mode just to torment others. Because people like that do exists and DBD is a game that draws in that type.
-
@humanbeing1704 said:
Comp mode would have to have good incentives to play it if you ask me from cool cosmetics or top rank being like 5 million bloodpoints or something
Cosmetics would make some casuals feel forced to play competitive, à la the FOMO crowd.

What if it doesn't?

Still in the 7.5.0 PTB.

Yes, it's pretty much forced, because you could first hook the downed survivor instead of go looking for the final survivor while leaving the other survivor slugged. You are forcing the hand of the other player at that point to play hide and seek.
Forced hide and seek. Not 4k.
-
Is it really forced? Unless the killer has an idea where the last survivor is or has a perk to do so it's a hide and seek game on a timer.
Now a forced 4K is closing the hatch right next to two doors. That's a 4K with no out.
-
If they remove it then they will add something else. BHVR wants every killer to have some sort of recharge mechanic. Billy's was the overheat to prevent constant use. It backfired and got reduced to an annoyance but filled the requirement.
Like I said prior to his rework, I wouldn't be surprised if they added gas cans.
-
Because the last rework went so well...

Well you are going to have to fix all the killers survivors hate then good luck with that. Or let the survivors see what killer they are about to face. Taking the struggle away will do nothing I would personally just go upstairs make some food and come back when I want too. Only other option is by having ranked where you get a dc penalty or pubs with none. You cant force someone to play a match they don't want to play so best solution is bots. Killers shop for matches all the time I have lobbies where I wait 20 min and 10 killers lobby doge from prestige and or utilities. Some people don't play this game to get out they play for content so making someone that doesn't want to play with a survivor like that is unfair. Some people play to only get hatch also unfair some people play only to do challenges like OP. So taking struggle away will just alienate more players or just make the games even more frustrating when you keep having to unhook people who go afk.
No one is forcing you to play any match. You chose to play that match when you ready up fully knowing the killer could be one you hate. The only legit reason to DC is if another player isn't playing by the rules. i.e. cheaters/exploiters. And in doing so you get a small 5 minute penalty because you shouldn't be DCing for petty #########.

its also better then not having anyone at all. The point being made is if the person kills themselves on hook you have nothing if they have no dc penalty and dc at least you have a bot. Something is better then nothing.
Why are we excusing someone ruining the game for others? Either you get a bot replacement or nothing is not the issue. Both options are not desirable. Also for something as petty as "can't complete my challege" as well. Bot are not there so survivors can shop for matches.
-
@Hexling said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3617188#Comment_3617188
Actually if the dc penalty didn't exist he would just dc and the survivors get a bot what he's doing is killing themselves on hook which makes no dc penalty and the other players don't get a bot its now a 5 gen 3v1.
A bot is not a replacement for a person, its a stop gab.
-
No and aim assist only screws you when near objects. Survivors spinning is taking advantage of killer piss poor FoV. If a survivor spins you thats a skill issue. Try not lunging an taping M1 instead, turn with the survivor, or wait out the spin then hit them.
-
Sounds like you're the reason the penalty should exist. Bots are not direct replacements for a human players. They're a stop gap. You're hurting your team either way.
-
It's not coded that way. Making it complex may produce bugs that might end up making the killer disabled the only route.
You can go on without a perk. Try another build for awhile.
-
I think Trapper should keep the starting trap count but be able to carry all of his traps. The bag addons would modify the starting amount.
-
Survivor. Survivors playing perfectly means no time is wasted. Killers are reliant on delaying gen progress by keeping survivors busy with other tasks. Even if the killer slugs, perfect plays mean survivors are spread out and only get picked up when ready and safe.
-
SBMM first come out, the upper MMR is sweat every game with gens flying. Complaints about not being fun anymore.
Devs relax MMR.
Killers: Yeah! Time to do win streaks again. Precedes to hard tunnel and slug every match.
Community: How can killers have these long win streaks?
-
"outdated"
Skill checks are there to keep the player engaged in the game. How would you think gen repair would go without something demanding attention?
-
Taking away choice is not a solution. If you don't want hook suicides then remove the hook mechanic entirely.
-
People have this strange idea that bhvr would rewrite the entire game from the ground up. Clearly from those that never dealt with software development.
DBD is a GaaS. GaaS don't require sequels because they are in constant development.
I know if I had to start over with a DBD sequel I wouldn't bother playing. It would be a clean break without any time invested.
-
It doesn't need a nerf. Aura heavy killers will eat through those tokens really quickly and there comes the limitation you left out.

Yeah. But also a company should handle with more respect those, who are with them with way much longer time. At least i feel many time that just because I am here already since a long time, paid already a bunch of money it is not really important how I feel or something. It is just like when in WoW those, who do not subscribed get free months time to time, meanwhile those who constantly paid in every month get nothing. Even tho they were the ones, who let the company running
But to be honest we do not talk about day 1 players. At least I assume the problem is not that somebody is able to get cheaper a content. But the fact, that after that you need to waste money if you want only 1 or 2 DLC
How about those that paid full price but quit soon after? Did they stick with BHVR through and through? How long or how short you played does not matter. Really its the poor souls that paid full price right before a sale that could have some resentment. Not those that played and received value from their purchase.
If they bundle DLC and its overall cheaper then its a win for new players just coming in. Old players had many opportunities to purchase during sales over the years. They have time right now in fact. It's only the licensed DLCs that matter anyways. Original DLCs can be purchased ingame with or without money.

Older players paid full price for all these things and have nothing to show for it.
And some bought them during a Steam sale. Not everyone pays full price for every game ever. Some people got the base game for free while others paid.
Those that paid didn't have to wait for a sale. Didn't need to wait years to enjoy something. Nobody should buy a game on day 1 and think, "Everyone better pay full price or I'll be pissed."

Is it still an issue with 7.4.2 ? (I'm not playing at the moment but I'm expecting it hasn't been fixed yet.)
Still in 7.4.2.
-
No
They will start getting survivors who are harder to catch and know how to hold M1.
Why punish the lower MMRs and reward the tunneller? Just so they don't derank?
-
I would like to see my own ping in lobby again.

More confetti bigger boom.

I see you sneak in that Ruin buff.

nothing will happen if you don't try.

Run Distressing and force them to ignore the terror radius or waste time running away from gens.
-
So after watching I see no flashlights. They must of found another way to gitch into the locker hitbox, maybe the key? Had a survivor just yesterday do this with a flashlight. I reported them just like anybody else abusing a bug like this.

Exploit. The reason why flashlights were killswitch.

Go to audio setting and check the box that says headphones.

‘cause… Predator js
Anyway, It could be Devs shadow testing sth tho, fwiw
Occasionally, I’ll bring Fixated to test for what scattered trails I’ve experienced in Killer matches.
Scratch marks in general never really worked correctly. Predator won't solve tiles where scratchmarks don't show at all for example.

They're not equivalent. Yes, people can find any reason to dodge. But there is no actual gameplay reason that you would be forced to play a certain cosmetic. Ergo, you can complain about killers dodging skins, but you can always wear a different one, no harm done. If you have legacy Dwight skin and get dodged, just change the skin and it won't happen. But there are archives and challenges that REQUIRE you to play a specific character, and there is no way around that. So if you happen to have a character at P100, there is no way to get around the fact that you will be waiting in lobby for 20 minutes while killers dodge you.
And just because killers will use something for lobby dodging, doesn't mean nothing should be done. Like the example I just gave you, if prestige is hidden, there is now no element that survivors are forced to have that will lead to dodges. In fact, you can get rid of lobby dodging altogether by completely hiding the opponent and just showing the tally marks and puffs of black smoke for each "survivor", then there is nothing to dodge off of at all.
Your example pertains to a limited situation. 9/10 games won't matter which survivor you play.
Besides, if I had a Legacy skin, shouldn't I be able to wear it? Why should killers have the ability to dodge me? Like prestige, Legacy shows a lot of effort went into leveling that character when bloodwebs were large and bloodpoints few.
BHVR should only show default skins in lobby. Better yet it should show just player names. No, no killers might remember my name and dodge, better yet the name of my character. No, what if they see four Dwights then think its a SWF. There shouldn't even be a lobby actually. Just drop me in a match. That will stop those damn lobby dodg... Damn its a Nurse. Why is there DC penalty? We have ######### bots now! Why do I have to wait 5 minutes if I'm not having fun? Gah! They really need to get rid of that outdated system!
