Sorry but many original Killers aren't scary and a bad fit for DBD too. Peak horror for me is the Doctor, he is by far the scariest Killer they ever made.
Also you do know Trickster and Legion are in this game right? Where is the horror? I never got scared, they most of the time get a sigh when i see them, even my first matches against them back when they released (and Legion chapter made me delete DBD for a while, almost gave up entirely).
Trickster is horror in the same vein as Patrick Bateman.
-
I find it to be an odd addition to this game. Not on the same level as Cage but near there.
Makes me wonder the direction bhvr is taking. Someone posted awhile back about DBD becoming more like Fortnite in the way random characters being added. While I was dismissive at the time, they may have a point now.

If you don't get it, you don't get it.
-
Iron Will was 100% when Spirit was popular.
-
Why do killers need to hide their name to be toxic? Survivors don't know who the killer is until the end, so they have no way of preventing playing against them.
-
When a scourge hook beaks it's still a scourge hook. So if that hook comes back...
-
I have no complants.
Flashlight saves are still possible with remote hooking.

I dont think this was a Bug. Injured Survivors dont make breathing sounds, they are replaced with grunts of pain.
That's the bug. Originally didn't do that.

Exactly. Before Iron Will got nerfed, it was just 100% Noise Reduction. In 6.1.0 it got a Double Nerf - 75% reduction of grunts of pain and not working at all when Exhausted.
This Double Nerf made the Perk basically non-existent. And now they are reverting one part of the Nerf, and IMO it is the part which makes more sense. Because 75% reduction might as well be nothing, the Killer will still hear you. Harder, but will still hear the Survivor. So you might just not use Iron Will at all (which many players do).
With the revert the Perk becomes an option for people who dont run Exhaustion Perks. So more variety (something Killer players want to have when talking about Survivor Builds). And players were fine with tracking Survivors before 6.1.0, when Iron Will was at its strongest. They will also be fine nowadays, it should be even easier due to more tracking options and the fact that the Survivor will most likely not run any Exhaustion Perk when using Iron Will.
Well IW was bugged for years prior to the change. While grunts of pain were supposed to be suppressed breathing was not, but both ended up being muted.
So take a Meg, the loudest mouth breather at the time, slap on Iron Will and she is dead silent when injured. The only thing we wanted back then was to fix the silent breathing.

I see nothing wrong with this.
-
The current survivor base rather quit playing when things don't go their way than try to learn from their mistakes.

Now?
There was a time where majority of players were at least decent?
I think everyone was simply equally bad.
Yes now. Survivors had more skill and willingness to play through bad situations prior to dbd going cross platform.

Update 8.0.1, While trying to fix her rapid fatigue lookup animation they ended up making it much slower than it should be.

Fix bugs? This is the 8th anniversary. You should know better.

There's a perk that breaks boon totems that would allow pentimento to get 5 totems.
-
You legit get survivors unhooking themselves based off the anti-face camping system? Is that even possible unintentionally?

Let's be real here. If a killer wanted you out of the game, REGARDLESS of OTR, DS, or BT; they'll take you out the game without hesitation, there isn't much a survivor can do to ESCAPE getting tunneled out of a game if a killer commits themselves to it. We're talking full on IGNORING other survivors no matter the circumstances, even if they're body blocking, even if they're flashlight saving, no matter WHAT they do.
It creates a snowball that curbs the game in SECONDS because a 4 v 1 can be considered an even match despite the fact it's not, but the moment it's a 3 v 1; it's OVER, especially if there's still gens to do. ( It happens too often to be brushed aside.)
But there's EVERYTHING a killer can do smack a gen and hit you with a regress that'll take you from a 90% to a 40% in just a couple of seconds, there's everything a killer can do to make the game living hell to actually play. The majority of the power system stems from the killer, we're at a stage where killers can play a match and win with little effort, even to competent players.
Also, the argument "The killer's job is to kill you" Falls short when I bring in the point that the point of survivor is to " Survive by any means. "
- Which results in flashlight saves, CJ Techs, Saboing hooks, body blocking; Swfing…all things killers consider powerful, annoying or overly toxic.
It's disingenuous and MOVES the goal post, not to mention; what that essentially says is, "If a killer can't effortlessly get kills, the game isn't fair." Which…no one wants, yes? Also, the argument "The killer's job is to kill you" Falls short when I bring in the point that the point of survivor is to " Survive by any means. " Which results in flashlight saves, CJ Techs, Saboing hooks, body blocking; Swfing…all things killers consider powerful, annoying or overly toxic.
How exactly does it fall short? Besides SWFing, everything you listed is something a survivor can do trying to survive. It does not cancel out killers camping or tunneling. Both are on equal footing as tactics to win.
-
You can't choose who you are in chase with. If the unhooked survivor and rescuing survivor run within the killer's FoV, they will be in a chase with both.
So if the killer is actively trying to avoid the unhooked survivor they can still be punished. With a decrease of 25% movement speed they would be functionally slower than the survivors unable to catch up. All the survivors would need to do is run together to hinder the killer unjustly.
On the other end, chase can be ignored by looking down. As long as the survivor is not running within the killer's FoV the chase never starts. Bypassing the "punishment".
-
8 years of new players and somehow they still play today.

Why doesn't the boon stay active? The perk only creates the boon? Does the table disappear when the carpenter dies?
Spider reasons.

Had a survivor DC after hearing my first blink Wednesday. One of the survivors brought a cake so I two hook the remaining three and killed the bot. Turns out the survivor that DC was the one that brought the cake.

Historically, survivor perks were released OP and nerfed years later.

Lets ask, why do you need to know?

Are you think a Forever Freddy problem can appear again ?
No, I'm thinking he will be changed for the worse. Maybe at the start he will be better, but then ruined the following patches.

Counterpoint how about the game gets changed and fixed so it is fun? Or maybe add stuff to work towards or provide incentives for actually playing that aren’t paywalled? The game can be fun that’s why a lot of us tolerate it’s glaring list of issues
Losing is not fun. This is a PvP where one side will find themselves on the losing end. Right now survivors think they are justified in DCing because of an inflated sense of ego. If it were the other way around do you think there wouldn't be shade thrown at killers?
-
There were times where they disabled DC penalties for various reasons. During those times survivors would DC if you so much as looked in their direction. In other words, the penalty is doing something.
-
They all devolved into the one being bullied by the many. The many would optimize the killing/stun locking/etc of the one causing less players wanting to play that role.
-
Killer, in general, is better with keyboard/mouse.

They ghost fixed Nurse seeing through lockers but did not fix the broken camera.
-
These type of "bugs" are only retroactively classified as bugs. Recent changes to DS broke an interaction with a killers power. Instead of fixing it they decided it should of always been that way. Thus making it a bug.
The community dislikes this inadvertent change and raise Cain, causing the Devs to fix the issue caused by the original change.

Some people want to be perpetually scared by the same thing over and over again.

I feel like it's gotten worse. Hitting survivors with simple M1s feels a lot more difficult recently and I can't explain why.
Most of the killer cameras got messed up after the Chucky chapter released. Implementing the FoV slider is most likely the cause because of spaghetti.
-
The Devs are not a good resource for good advice. The era of game guides and print publications have past. It's the era of YT and wikis.
The wiki is a good resource for anything you want to know about the game. Of course a new player won't understand a lot from it because it's not common knowledge. You need to supplement in experience to know what to look for. No in-game doc will provide any different.
-
Bad idea, will backfire.
-
You can be chained blind as long as the flashlight has charges and you don't look away.
-
By some players logic, since you saw the game was a loss you should of "moved on" to the next match. 😉
Guess you didn't utilize the built in come back mechanic raved about on the forums.
I'm of course being facetious.

Explain what mean easy route? The perception of fairness is a massive problem for survivor. A Blight that downs someone immediately when the match starts has already put the killer in a winning position. Why should survivor waste time simply for a guaranteed loss?
Survivors don't have come back mechanics like killers.
It's an euphemism for killing themselves on hook.
As I've said earlier, killer does not have an easy button that allows them to come back from a lose. The only way for a killer to come back from a bad match is for survivors to mess up.

When they are obviously losing. People are not leaving when they are winning. That's the problem with ignoring it.
While this is true in some cases it is not the majority of the time. Yes a team could be winning but the individual survivor will lose on their next down. When they do go down they DC. This can be regardless of being the 3rd hook overall or the 9th hook.
If survivors mainly DC because of losing why do so many DC or take the easy route on first hook of the match? I've even seen it where the killer goes after each survivor evenly and the fourth one to go down DCs.

I think I can count on one hand how many times I've seen that happen. Using outliers to say we shouldn't count DCs doesn't sound like a good argument.
I believe the example of 4 slugs is an outlier. Most of the DCs I've seen have been at the start of a match or if the survivor is dead on hook and goes down.
-
@mecca said:

I do see that argument brought up, but survivors do generally leave when the match is a certain defeat. For example, Blight has slugged everyone at 5 gens and they start DCing. It was a blowout win for the killer but the match gets thrown out because someone threw in the towel. It really happens a lot. I wish they were counted but I really doubt BHVR wants anyone to know how bad survivors have it.
How about the survivor that DCs before their third hook? What happens if that match was nearly over and the other three happen to escape. That match too gets thrown out. Not every DC match is because a killer slugs every survivor.
-
For 8 years solo que existed without coms. When the killer could mori without hooking. When Ruin required hitting Greats just to not lose progress. When games could start as a 1v3, 1v2, or 1v1. When camping and tunneling didn't exists.... oh wait it did, and it was worse then.
What really changed to cause the survivor role to become so pathetic?
-

Wasn't that to show survivors were all the same size or something about huntress hatchets?
Nope, was way before that. They had a Trapper and survivor next to each other.
The one youare thinking about was the survivor hitbox while standing and crouched to show why hatchets could "hit" a survivors head but pass through without.
-
@Rulebreaker said:
- Yes survivors have smaller boxes than most killers (think the only exception is Chucky and Victor). They can hug loops tighter and cut corners better than killers.
- It makes some difference (couldn't tell you how much truly). It maybe may make a difference in bout 1/5 matches but that's a simple guess.
- Yes you need to be careful though for reasons Dragon Master Darren said.
The messed up part of it this was known forever ago but the Devs went out of their way to claim they were the same size. Even to go as far to show the characters pill shape box during the old Dev streams. Think it was sometime after these forums was launched when they admitted survivor hitboxes were smaller.
-
Playrrs that dump all their BP into one character can get P100 rather quickly. It is not a sign of skill. For example, a streamer I faced once plays like a beginner but has multiple P100 survivors.
As for the match making, all SBMM systems will eventually throw you against a wall. You will continue to escape against newish killers until you reach the level where killers know what they are doing. At that point you will need to step up or suffer until you start getting beginner level killers again. The cycle up down will continue until you move up or purposefully throw every match.
-
Killer perks are supposed to be gimmicks don't you know.

So play those games...
