@MonsterInMyMind That's not exactly how it works. The promo code system will allow us to unlock items that are available in the store. It isn't geared to allocate exclusive items.
Ohhh okay now i understand my fault yeah i was about to say what was the point in giving the others out okay i gotcha sorry for the misunderstanding

I find it cool that you can give props to a player that you played a good match with, which I think is great, but how does that work exactly? Are you supposed to get a notification if someone gave you props, or is that information all retained with BHVR? Do you get a bloodpoint bonus for getting props from another player? I just find it odd that if there's no way to tell if you've ever received props, or if you don't get rewarded in any way, then what's the point in giving it?
They said in the past they would do some giveaways with it but as time has went on it seems that idea was thrown out and im not shocked as to the reason probably being 90% of the community uses this feature to troll like perfect example as killer when i see a survivor do something insanely dumb at the end i props them for their bad play as a meme.
It also could just be the developers have a lot on their plate and they had to delay the idea of giving away stuff to those who have the most props.

I mean for me it showed the trapper mask in front of the crown not the crown by itself?

Wasn't that always the icon for PC? I remember people asking before this patch why they had that icon when other platforms had the one with the survivors face.
It was not like this before this hotfix.

No his mask is bugged the blight one is also bugged the fluid is dripping at his feet instead off of the mask. I posted in the bug section about it a hot minute ago but it seems it was not even looked at this hot fix.

Yes you will be able to get them july 5th.

I've been with this game since week 1 of release, I've lost my legacy, and I've lost all progress on my account twice when the progress loss bug was still around, I personally got really ticked off that BHVR gave all the previous event cosmetics out to everyone for free considering how much work was put into getting them, and while before that happened I would've said to just let the players who still have legacy keep it, now I really wouldn't. What they're doing isn't fair to the players that lost legacy and their logic regarding the situation is flawed. In their news post they say "To award Legacy to the rest of the community would severely alienate and undermine that part of the community that has been with us since 2016." I understand that they are saying that legacy is more valuable then the event cosmetics due to how grindy the bloodweb was before the rework, but since around 50% of the community that was around during that time suffered some kind of loss of progress, you would think they would just throw in the towel and give it to everybody at this point or at the very least award all players who have owned the game since 2016 a charm or something. I've always been very vocal about how much I love BHVR as a company but how they've handled the legacy problem over the years is a serious problem and with how long it has lasted they seriously need to just give up and either give it to everyone, or give it to players who have owned the game since "X" date. Sorry for the long rant, I love this game and the community around it but I needed to get that out of my system. I still love BHVR, they just really need to put an end to this problem before it gets out of control again.
I 100% get what you are saying again the point of the post is to highlight that there is a way and that we don't need to leave those that lost it behind.

Whatever was the date where you couldn't get legacy anymore.
Give legacy to all players who bought the game before that.
Now legacy becomes an early support kind of thing instead of I put ######### ton of time in the game kind of thing.
Everyone that should have legacy gets it back, some others aswell. But you don't give it to every player. Problem solved.
Not a bad idea it could work! Keep the ideas flowing!

So you don't want to leave me, huh? 😜
I'm not telling you to stop wanting it back, i didn't tell @Pepsidot either on their huge Legacy post, it's all fine by me.
But the way i'm thinking: It's been years, and they recently put up their statement of not doing anything about it.
Seems like a wild goose chase to me.
I feel you yeah i just won't want those that lost it to feel like its a lost cause thats the point of this post hope it gains traction and some good ideas come out again the more we brainstorm behavior is known for watching and keeping a close eye on things if some good ideas show up on this topic its possible to find a way.

Idk who these people are you're talking about, i've never seen anyone be against ideas to return Legacy to those who lost it.
I meant like if people didn't like the post not saying anyone is against it but you never know i just don't want to leave those that lost it behind.

Here's the problem.
You don't give it out and the people who lost them are complaining.
You do give it out and the people who have them are complaining.
I'll accept them giving it out if they give out a separate cosmetic for people who currently have the cosmetics.
See that's what im thinking maybe give a different version out so that you don't cheapen the value of the first it's possible to do.
@Boss said:
Nothing's gonna be done about it.
This comment might not age well, but that's how it has been for years so far.
I do like the achievement idea someone suggested on here, to give at least some Legacy back to players who earned it.
I wouldn't say impossible there is 100% a way to do it also the issue is there is a way to modify dates using sam. Also if people don't like that im trying to find ideas to help those that lost legacy well honestly if that's how they feel its all good.

He hacked to get his lost legacy back but he also hacked in flashlights.

I love Noob3. I think back then I was really iffy and kinda got annoyed with him almost like I feel about Ochido now, especially hearing he had some sorta drama or some of the community thought Noob was egh. I actually liked Ochido a lot when I first played, but he quickly got annoying. I guess seeing Ochido made me appreciate Noob a bit more and slowly but surely I've begun to warm up to Noob. Plus, I think he's either different now or I've developed my own opinion. Not sure.
Please rename that certain person as nameless dude does not deserve to even have his name spoken and im not talking about noob3.

Changed his files to get legacy back which he lost due to a faulty mechanics. This is a reason why all exclusives should be given to everyone.
I mean i don't disagree with you on just giving legacy out to everyone so that it can also be returned to those that lost it however lets be completely honest it won't happen until the developers get over this false idea that legacy is special i mean event cosmetics were but they alienated them so why should legacy be any different plus it's kinda crappy to just tell the ones who lost legacy to take a hike behavior should really look into their stance a little more.
Like giving back event cosmetics to everyone so that those who lost it was really crappy however those that lost it just wanted them back so why shouldn't legacy be treated the same way to restore what behavior lost.

He re-added the prestige cosmetics that were lost to him. I don't think it was fair he got in trouble for getting his own things back.
He also added in items if im correct. Also that may be the case but the developers can't just allow save data modifications.

He did indeed get banned for it in the past he modified his save data if im correct.

I mean i personally don't have an issue with him seems it took him longer then others to learn from his mistakes in the past with hacking etc but overall seems now he has grown more as a person so i dont really have a reason to dislike him at the moment also as far as his toxicity goes it seems hes grown out of it compared to a certain someone who shall remain nameless but point being props to him for growing as a person.

Its a shame this post won't be looked at in the communities best interest. All jokes aside good post i agree with someone above though you are gonna have to define toxic people call others toxic for just hooking them or doing a generator.

If you think "lying" is "changing your mind at any point in time", then yes, they "lied". And if you think that, we'll just have to agree to disagree, because, to me, "lying" implies intent. They had no intention of giving out the event cosmetics, but then ######### happened.
Thats odd because they sure did try when they gave out exclusives and people grilled them and they didnt but only to come back around and give them out i see the intent if you cant idk what else to tell you bud it was 100% there.

- They made a decision, which was to have the cosmetics be exclusive.
- Then ######### hit the fan and a ton of people lost the cosmetics.
- They reassessed their decision and came to the conclusion that giving them away was the better option.
This is how people should operate. Your decisions shouldn't be rigid and independent of the circumstances, you should change your mind when presented with new information that invalidates your previous decisions.
You say that their ability to recognize that the situation has changed means their word doesn't mean anything any more. I say that makes them better than the billions who think you're not allowed to change your mind for any reason and call you a hypocrite and/or a liar if you do.
Can you imagine if businesses operated like this, never backing down from a bad decision regardless of what happened? Google would've gone bankrupt by now after all their failed business ventures.
Saying something is exclusive and wont come back speaks for itself they lied period. With this logic you would think legacy would have been given out to oh wait thats right........
-
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1389732#Comment_1389732
No, I'm saying that the situation changed, so they reassessed their statement. That's what normal people do (or should do, anyway).
They didn't reassess anything they gave them out because some people lost them sorry if you lost them but people also lost legacy and what were those people told????????????
Basically sorry about it we wont do anything about it at all but yet event cosmetics were given out for what reason then? Does giving them out not alienate them? If you say no i 100% disagree with you i earned those cosmetics just like those who played the event to those who lost them well unlucky they shouldn't have been given out period but behavior back peddled you can't defend them doing it they gave their word to again go back on it.
At the end of the day the devs word no longer means anything you can pay some guy with a great voice to loudly say timed exclusive all you want but we all know they'll be given out next year anyways its better they keep it real then continue in this fantasy land that these cosmetics are exclusive because between me and you we know the truth.
-

People are allowed to change their minds based on the circumstances. That doesn't mean they lied to you before.
Okay so you are saying you are allowed to basically tell someone that something will remain exclusive and then go out and do the opposite and give them out okay cool you are defending back peddling good to know.

@GoodBoyKaru said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1389716#Comment_1389716
Okay but going back to my original point. Not about back peddling or anything, my original question- did they say these cosmetics, the 4th year anniversary cosmetics, would be exclusive? If they didn't for these cosmetics, then assume no (or yes but don't be annoyed because there's nothing said).
Yeah they did say exclusive in the trailer it is a timed event. Point being you can't take anything behavior says seriously anymore they have lost credit the community can't trust them when it comes to this anymore they said the others were exclusive and look what they did im calling it now they'll give these out by the end of the year. Id like to point out i don't have any issues with the devs personally but when you back peddle and basically lie to your community you deserve harsh criticism for doing so.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1389706#Comment_1389706
Saying something and back peddling is different to not saying it at all. If I promised to not take a cookie from the cookie jar then did it anyway, then next time didn't say anything, would you assume I'd do it again if I said nothing?
It's a God-awful analogy, I know, but the first thing that came to mind.
Back Peddling-
What someone does once another party has caught them in a lie to avoid being caught.
They begin to take back or create more lies to justify there original lie.
Going back on their word.
This is basically what the developers did they lied on stream said it would be exclusive and then went back on their word to then tell us everyone was gonna get them for free.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
I mean, forgive me if I'm wrong, but did they say these cosmetics (the 4th anniversary crowns) were exclusive? If not then I'd assume they will later.
They also said the howling grounds and summer bbq were exclusive again back peddle by daylight are very good at saying one thing and doing another.
-
100% because it'll be in the communities best interest. All jokes aside its very likely yes event cosmetics were exclusive and look what happened they back peddled so what makes these any different nothing really they can slap timed exclusive on it and say they wont but lets be honest they'll give them back out.
-
I personally think you should just be able to select what head piece to put it on a charm version would be very lame.
-
@ShrekTheThird69 said:
I really wish we could do this but i don't see bhvr doing this ever
Its possible they could prestige on everything would take them a lot of work but this seems a lot easier you just slap the halo on all the head pieces and call it a day thats pretty much what they did they just slapped it on default cosmetics anyway.
-
I would honestly love it if we could select the cosmetic to put it on imagine blight mask halo trapper
-
Nah they'll cave in and give them to new players because its the communities best interest screw those who earned them.
-
Yeah that's kinda how i feel as well they claim it will be exclusive and time limited but they'll just give them out because its in the communities best interest KEKW

And I wonder what "the comunities best" is for their understanding. From forum feedback it reaches from idc to heavily disappointed. I didn't see a lot of positive feedback yet
That's because what is there to be positive about? nothing really the veterans continue to get the middle finger while new players get everything they ask for but again im not shocked this dev team has already proven they will cave in to peoples demands. It's honestly to that point where they should just stop doing events all together people wanted to earn the cosmetics because them being "exclusive" meant something and behavior saying they would never give them back out meant something but hey man its behavior im honestly not shocked but event cosmetics no longer mean a damn thing at all.
-
They will give them time they realize how hard they back peddled give it until next anniversary they'll release it for everyone watch and see.
-
Behavior does not care so they will release them and will find a way down the line to back peddle so that legacy can be released give them time they always find a way to disappoint everyone.
-
We don't matter to them its clear. It's also clear meaning does not matter to them don't worry legacy will be next they will find a way to back peddle.
-
Nope they'll just give them out in a year or so once new players come and claim its "in the communities best interest"

Imagine a friend giving you a bracelet to signify your many years long friendship, only to someday have him give the same kind of bracelet to a girl after a week of acquaintanceship. You still have the bracelet, but it's nowhere near as important ...
For many people it's not about the cosmetics, it's about the meaning behind them.
They dont care at all its better to just accept nothing will be exclusive or timed the upcoming event skins i say give it a week and then they'll release them because its "in the communities best interest"

The only thing that made you earn them was playing the game at this time. The Objectives (Hooks and Generators) were nothing special - just usual gameplay.
Does not change the fact they strictly said they wouldn't return and back peddled...

@Nutty_Professor said:
I've seen a lot of people mention that the old event skins do not look as good as the skins that are being released now, so why do people care that they are now given out for free?
It's not about their aesthetics but rather what they represent. What the old event skins represented was that the player that owned that skin has not only been playing the game for a long time, that they had to grind to earn that skin (single cosmetic, not a full cosmetic set).
For the Summer BBQ Event the grind was added to the fact some survivors would run to areas of the map with Boil Over so you couldn't hook them on an event hook. And some killers would just focus on guarding the event gens.
When I saw a David with the Donkey Jacket, I knew that David has been playing the game for a long time (Although most David's I saw with the Donkey Jacket played like donkeys).
When I saw a Hillbilly with the Pro-pain Hammer, I knew that Hillbilly must have been playing the game for more than two years.
For me personally the Summer BBQ Event was what got me into playing as the killer, as before I would only play survivor. A month and a half later I got to rank 1 as killer for the first time.
If it wasn't for the Summer BBQ Event I may have never got into playing as the killer, I might still be a survivor main that never plays killer. I'd be making posts about how "Pyramid Head is OP". Thankfully I now play both sides.
People have a issue with it because when we earned them we were told they would never return but because behavior cant stand behind their own words and need to back peddle they decide to go against their own words and give them out for free might as well just give legacy out its clear they don't want anything to stay exclusive.

I dont have a problem with the shack. I just wanted to mention it. Also just because they added a breakable wall, it doesnt mean it got ,,ruined" you still can run the killer for a decent amount of time there. Ive done it myself many times already. Sure it is alot weaker but still decent.
The issue with the breakable wall is how much it weakens the window and how fast it forces down the god pallet earlier that's why the wall is not good for the game we can agree to disagree you are entitled to your opinion just like im entitled to mine personally as a killer player i never had a problem downing a survivor at shack therefore i dont see the reason the wall is needed.

But who said that it its supposed to be like that.
IF the survivors are really good at looping, the shack be extremely strong but well the same could be said about killers. I still think the breakable wall at the shack isnt that bad.
No one said it but if you go back and look since release shack has always been this way thats given still does not justify ruining killer shack with a breakable wall it completely kills the window point being if you are saying shack needed a breakable wall it means you didn't know how to run shack correctly am i correct in this assumption?

It's the killer shack. Not the survivor shack.
This is by far the poorest attempt i have seen yet like if you are going to comment atleast make it constructive this right here is not how you disprove someone else's argument.
-
Honestly i think breakable walls are fine but the shack wall should not exist shack is meant to be a strong building it's meant to waste the killers time.
