It's really just because it only triggers once the sacrifice animation ends. Then that survivor's status changes from hooked to sacrificed, the game detects that only one survivor is alive, and the hatch opens. No more, no less. That's why it'll open instantly after a mori.

Because survivor get notification about everything that could scare them or catch them by surprise.
In a horror game jump scares are forbidden.
Survivor player always have to know if they are at any risk of getting downed, so they know when they can bully the killer and when not.Not what i was asking for.
