It's not part of her Power.
Her Power Description makes it a point to say that Survivors disappear while in the Ethereal Plane, and that Scratch Marks can still be seen. It makes no mention of Audio in any way, not for Spirit at any rate. Not a single add-on makes mention of Audio either. It's just visual elements: Passive phasing and Blood. Prayer Beads being the only exception, but only for Survivors.
It's at most a known oversight: QA: You can still hear Survivors breathing. Product: It's not a big deal. Besides, she can still see the Scratch Marks anyway.
What is the need in deafening Spirit when her PRIME form of tracking is easily sound? We all know it’s primarily sound which is why every Spirit uses Stridor. it doesn’t have to physically say in the description of the power that her primary tracking is sound and audio.
Yes she has the environment (grass and corn moving) and scratch marks but a survivor can walk and make no scratch marks leading to Spirit tracking how? You guessed it. Sound. And it’s not just grunts of pain. It’s grass rustling, breathing, footsteps, checking chests, gen repairing sounds, locker opening. You deafen her and she has NONE of that to work with, just pure sight which she cannot physically see survivors so that’s just inconsistent and turns her tracking into a pure guessing game.
Deafening her would just be bad for her.

I would say 99% of the time you aren't tracking people with their breathing sound.
No but there have been plenty of occasions where I knew where a survivor was hiding because I heard their breathing. Typically it is a Meg or Feng but I’ve heard most survivors breathing down my neck before.
-
It shouldn’t be nerfed to the ground there is only one thing they should do…
Make survivors make breathing sounds when injured with Iron Will. Currently they make absolutely no sound (besides footsteps) when injured when it is only supposed to suppress grunts of pain.
With Iron Will, injured survivors are harder to track than healthy survivors. They are dead silent with zero sound cues emitting from them if they stay still.

Spirit moves the environment (grass and corn)Spirit makes a noise notification that she has begun phasing- Spirit makes small glimpses of her location while phasing (like old Freddy)
You can hear Spirit’s breathing while phasing and her footsteps at a slightly increased volume.
And yeah, Deafen Spirit like the Perk Knockout while she be in the Ethereal Plane (if you need to rip something immediately).
Glimpses like Freddy are a maybe. Could be a downside to a Purple Addon or something.
IMO the guessing game is the interesting part. It's just that Spirit has no guessing game right now on her end when utilizing various perks and hardware.
Deafening Spirit is not the right call. Her whole entire power is her relying on sound. Eliminate her being able to hear anything and she’s awful.
IMO it shouldn’t be a straight up guessing game for either side. Both the Spirit and the survivors should have a clue of what the other is doing and where they are leading to both sides having to make the correct call while in a chase. The guessing game is just like “yay I got a down because I landed on heads” or “yay I got away because I landed on tails”.

There much more graphically intense multiplayer games that run at 60 FPS on PS4/XB1. Overwatch, DOOM, and some COD games run at 60 FPS.
DBD is a LAST GEN game that’s engine was built in the middle of the last gen consoles life cycle. Of course it was released on PC first but the game isn’t new and isn’t specially designed for new gen consoles.
A majority of DBD’s playerbase is on last gen consoles, they aren’t gonna just phase them out and be like, “well you just gotta get the new gen console that’s never in stock anywhere. Or ya know, just drop a few grand on a PC.”
Also Sony won’t stop supporting PS4 games for quite a while (can’t say I’m knowledgeable about Microsoft) so I’m highly doubtful that a game like DBD is going to completely drop support for last gen consoles.
-
All of them except Trapper would could just use the default one.
Being bias I’d chose Spirit and Plague since I play them the most.
Also wish they would add chase music for Victor. Twins has banger chase music which you barely because Charlotte never chases.

When? She hasn’t been touched at all lately, and was only indirectly buffed by slow vault being nerfed recently for whatever reason
Lately? No, she hasn’t received any changes but she was nerfed a while ago.
Gave her no collision while phasing.
Gave her a vaulting animation.
Nerfed some of her add-ons (Prayer Beads, Saya, Amulet, and both of the activation speed add-ons)
Adjusted her speed curve post-phase (which really wasn’t a nerf).
She was changed so that she didn’t have any of the extreme BS like Prayer Beads, collision while phasing, and no window vaulting animation but they didn’t address the stand still “MiNdGaMe” or lack of feedback.

What is with everyone claiming they get these mean unbeatable Spirits? I just had one whose name was “AFK Enjoy the Crowns” and another one who memed with me and let me escape.
I don’t play against Spirit often and I rarely get tryhard ones. Usually they are either memers, lower rank, or plain out bad.
-
My issue with Wraith is that his playstyle is super boring. “Cloak, uncloak, hit with an omega lunge, runs away, doesn’t commit to chases”.
He’s not overtuned because like most killers, you ain’t winning against a coordinated group of good survivors.
I personally don’t like him but he’s pretty balanced other than the fact that lunge seems omega long. It seems like it’s very similar to a Spirit using Wakazashi Saya.

For survivors:
Actual "Charms" like a lucky rabbits foot (not so lucky for the rabbit mind you), Dream Catchers, Horse Shoes, coins, etc.
For killers:
Macabre Trophies and viscera like Intestines, Eyes, Meat, Hearts, Fingers, Scalps, Tattooed cuts of skin, etc.
Basically, where the survivors want luck to carry with them, Killers want human trophies and gore to increase the terror they inspire. Can you honestly say getting put on a hook that has dangling entrails and skin decorating it wouldn't be intimidating? To the killers, that's their twisted version of "charms", And I would love it if both sides got these types of charms to better accentuate their their personalities in the trials.
Not sure if you know this but there is actually a horseshoe charm in the game. It was in the third rift and it’s an uncommon charm. Sadly it is only a killer charm though :/

Grim Panties.
I also don’t care for this map either.
Nobody likes Grim Panties. It’s ugly to look at and it’s poopy to play on. Some of my worst matches have been on that map.
-
Well of all times me and you have played here are the worst maps (for survivor)
• Midwich. Needs no explanation.
• Shelter Woods aka boulders and trees the map.
• Rotten Fields. I mean it isn’t bad but it’s nothing but open corn. So killers like Oni, Blight, and Huntress have a field day.
Every other map is fine except I personally hate the other three indoors maps but The Game is chock full of safe pallets. Lery’s has good pallets and is vault heaven. Hawkins is uhhh....not the worst map ever? But it’s so boring because all the pallets are unsafe so you just pre drop them.
I know that @Cornpopers_Evan will say that he LOVES Haddonfield though. Best map ever.

In 2 years, you will never be able to grind enough, no matter how long you play. My point is, you can never max the new character. It would take almost 2 weeks with the current cap plus a bunch of other stuff just to get 1 character done and as each chapter comes out, you're adding more and more perks to the game. After awhile, it'll be impossible to grind it out. Perk Tiers taken out would be fine but you should be able to sell add-ons for half price of you don't want them.
Agree to disagree in regards to the BP cap.
-
@AVoiceOfReason said:
So you want to P3 level 50 plus all perks for a new survivor? 400 bloodwebs from the rip for a fresh P3, level 50 without all the perks. You still have to get the rest of the perks for that character. You can get 28, including the starter perks from P3 1-50 and that's not including perk tiers. There are a total of 89 survivor perks so far, not including the new chapter alone. To get those 28 tier 3, you'll need, not including the actual web itself, 308000 bloodpoints. 671000 BPs for all the current tiers for all the perks currently on survivor. Altogether with just the perks, including the blood web grind plus the 3 tiers, you'll need 979000 BPs total.
Now lets do the 400 bloodwebs and say you got all level 1 perks for each blood web, fresh from the get go. 1600000 BPs ALONE for perks from level 1-P3 Lvl 50 and only level 1 perks. That's a total of 2579000 BPs needed just for that. NOW, lets do some odd ball numbers for random ######### in the bloodweb. Lets say you get a bunch of yellows and greens only, not including the perks. Lets just do 16 nodes since the lower levels don't get very much but the higher nodes get a bunch more.
We'll do half and half for that alone. 32000 is 8 nodes of yellow and 40000 for 8 nodes of 5000 each. Total of 72,000 BPs per node, not including perks and such. 360000 for 50 levels. 1440000 for P3 Lvl 50 for the Bloodweb only on 1 character. Combine that with the perks and your final amount is 4,019,000 BPs for 1 character fully maxed AND that's not including the higher level offerings that make the blood web even more expensive. That's just me lowballing as much as I can. So tell me, how does 1 with a 1Mil bloodcap and 3 dailies worth 60,000 max plus small amount of rift challenges left ungrabbed, get a character to max with everything unlocked? @MegMain98 Please enlighten me and then you can tell me why a 1 million cap is fine as it is still. @LordGlint Let me know what you think also, please.
(Edit: There are also currently 27 survivor characters each plus the 2 characters coming in the next patch. So you can time 4,019,000 by 29 to equal 116,551,000, not including their perks of 6 total, that has to be re-grinded into the other characters. Fun, right? AND that is not including KILLERS :D)
I never said I didn’t want the BP cap increased but it shouldn’t be an unlimited cap. At the very max it should be maybe 2 million? But they don’t want you to instantly P3 a character on the first day they come out. They want you to grind for it and continuously spend your BP. This game is a grind fest and we all know it.
Yes the grind can be brutal but it keeps people playing the game. They aren’t going to ease up the grind by that much. That’s what they want whether you like it or not.
They should do away with perk tiers and raise the BP cap to 2 million. There ya go.

Your just saying youd play the game more before the patch than after the patch. The same amount is played either way. Plus if people are trying to build up BPs for characters before they release...wouldnt THAT be incentive to play? They could start building up their hoard of BPs for the next chapter, or the one after that.
They’re not gonna want you to do that though. They are going to want you to grind for the bloodpoints AFTER the new character release. With a cap you’re forced to spend them ASAP. They just don’t want you to instantly max out a new character.
I believe the bloodpoint cap should be raised a little bit but not incredibly high.
Back in the day there was a bloodpoint cap because of hackers though so they implemented the cap so it would be harder to fly under the radar with a 1M BP cap.

If she thinks she's getting EVERY perk in the game for the new killer plus P3, she doesn't understand the amount of BPs needed for such an endeavor lol.
Well he just so happens to play the game almost every day and if I happened to hoard all the BP between Trickster patch and the RE patch then I could easily do it. Especially when you factor in challenges and dailies.

I don't know where this narrative is coming from of people who would "hoard" BP and then not play the game for months at a time just because the BP cap would be raised or made unlimited. Who would do that? And who would P3 a character, get all the perks on them, and then not want to play them after? It goes against common sense. And I think if the BP cap is raised, which it should dramatically, it should not be tied to devotion. Everyone should have the same BP cap. Devotion does not equal frequency of play, only time played.
“Doesn’t equal frequency of play, only time played”
Do they not go hand-in-hand? If I have a 20 devotion level then I definitely play more frequently than somebody who has a level 2 devotion level.
I don’t think the bloodpoint cap should raise too much. I think it’s outdated and it should raise a little bit but it shouldn’t be an unlimited bloodpoint cap nor should be raised to something like 5 million. Just what I think 🤷🏽♂️
-
@LordGlint said:

Youd still have to play the same exact amount in order to get those BPs to begin with. The only difference is when you spend the BPs, not how much you play.
It doesn’t matter though. I could’ve saved up millions of blood points between the mid chapter patch and the Resident Evil chapter, then when the new chapter drops, P3 both survivors and killer, get all perks on them and then I don’t have to play the game. You think they want people to do that after their brand new chapter drops?
Yeah I might’ve played the same hours, but I’m still hoarding bloodpoints meaning that I don’t have to grind for anything when the new chapter drops meaning I’m not incentivized to play the game anymore. Which clearly would not be smart on their part.
I believe the bloodpoint cap should be raised by a certain amount depending on what your devotion level is. Give people who have a higher devotion level a higher bloodpoint cap. So somebody who would only be a level 2 devotion level can’t hoard as many bloodpoints as somebody who will be devotion level 20. It also gives players who have played frequently a nice reward.
-
Because they want you to play the game. If there wasn’t a bloodpoint cap then everybody would just stock up on bloodpoints and then immediately P3 the new survivor and the new killer and wouldn’t have to spend any time playing the game after the new content released.
-
Since they’ve added Victor, I can see them adding a short killer like Chucky. Victor can’t hook survivors though so I don’t know how they would do that with Chucky.
-
@gilgamer said:
Mending and being left alone is boring gameplay from the survivors side. From their pov they just get run down by a killer that ignores vaulting, the most powerful tool survivors have, and just hits them practically for free and then they have to just sit there and mend for like 15 seconds or whatever it is and the killer just leaves to go do the same for someone else.
You see that’s another thing. Legion completely circumnavigate the survivor’s defenses which is windows and pallets. So Legion can’t be that strong since they completely circumnavigate the survivors only defenses or we’re going to get old Legion again, which was quite literally the definition of no counterplay.
Legion already gets free hits on survivors in frenzy. Frenzy can’t be that powerful because there’s really nothing the survivor can do to avoid getting stabbed. If Legion were to be more powerful, then they need a complete overhaul/rework.
-
Legion has such a bland and tedious playstyle. They do what Wraith and Ghostface do. Hit and run. However Legion is basically a “budget Wraith” since Wraith can pressure survivors to heal while staying injured against a Legion is the correct play.
Legion just stabs you and leaves you to mend. It’s usually very stale and bland gameplay against a Legion. Plus a lot of people still hate Legion because of what they used to be :/
But you should play whoever you want with getting hate.
-
https://twitter.com/pixelbushyt/status/1402281929861472256?s=21
I also saw this video on Twitter. Is this intentional or a bug because I though Victor would get crushed in this scenario.
-
I don’t know why all of a sudden people are thinking the Shadowborn gives you some nice distinct advantage. I only run this perk for comfort reasons. The base FOV is so pitiful that when I started using Shadowborn I just became addicted to using it. I feel sluggish and slow when I don’t run it which is why I run it on basically every killer.
it should just be an FOV slider with the max FOV being capped at Shadownborn’s current FOV (102°). We’re not asking for the FOV to be as wide as a lot of people’s stretched res. I don’t see the issue. As @Zenro stated, I never went into a match and said “sure am glad I brought Shadownborn” like I would a perk like PGTW. It’s not a game changer, just makes killer more comfy to play.
-
@TheClownIsKing said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/255622/thoughts-on-shadowborn
It greatly limits survivors ability to hide from you, or try and juke you mid chase. Often when survivors try to crouch in a corner and double back, Shadowborn has made the survivor plain as day to see without me even trying. I just turn the corner, and there they are in the corner of my FoV.
This is why I firmly stand by Shadowborn remaining a perk, rather than an option in settings. DBD isn’t like other games. Shadowborn’s much larger FoV most definitely gives a distinct advantage during the trial. Survivor jukes are ridiculously easy to see with this perk equipped.
That is true but competent killers don’t get juked easily if ever.
Shadowborn is barely worth a perk slot unless you just like the high FOV. It gives you very little advantage if you as a killer are not easily juked or the survivors aren’t cheeky. First time I heard that Shadowborn gives you a “distinct advantage”.
Plus the base FOV is pitful.
-
A comfy perk to run but it’s kind of a waste of a perk slot but I still use it regardless.
Should just be an FOV slider with the max FOV capping at Shadowborn’s current FOV and rework Shadowborn into another use.

Myers is regarded as the most enjoyable stealth killer by many survivors because he is barely a threat when he is not using some of his stupid OP add ons. I remember Wraith before the nerf was regarded as one of the weakest killers in the game and survivors made fun of him as most Wraiths don't know how to play him (most still don't) and just chase for 5 pallets. That hit&run playstyle you mentioned i only see at higher red ranks (and there i usually don't see Wraith that often)
Myers isn’t that strong but he’s an enjoyable killer to play as and against and sometimes the “fun” aspect is just as important.
Wraith was weak. Now he is pretty damn good. And that’s great. But I’ve never liked Wraith. Even when he was awful. Just don’t like the hit and run 😭.
And lucky you. All I see are Wraith, Ghostface, Huntress, and Nurse.

Well, you were the one who said "...the fun part of playing survivor is the chases", like that included everyone and hating Wraith was general consensus. Never said that we are supposed to like the same thing.
I can't fathom how someone can only have fun during 1/4 of a match as most of the time you'll probably spend doing other things that progress the game. The survivor gameplay in general is fun to me. I like going against stealth killers because of the constant feeling of threat through the match.
Is the fun part of playing survivor not the chases? I don’t think fixing generators and holding down the button is the fun part of playing survivor. Sure I like my downtime and doing other things rather than only getting chased. But I don’t play survivor to hold down a button, I play for the interaction with the killer. You ever played against an AFK Wraith? Yeah. That’s not enjoyable at all. The interaction with the killer is usually the main “fun” part of survivor.
Which is why when I play killer I don’t understand when survivors play immersed all the time, that gets so boring and so old quick. Just like getting downed with no chase interaction.
-

And what's the problem in having killers with different playstyles? If every killer fitted in the chaser category we'd barely have any variety and it would be pretty boring.
I never said it was a problem. I just personally don’t like the hit and run style or 2 of the 4 stealth killers. It’s a very very boring playstyle to me because I like the chase interaction not getting hit with Sloppy Butcher then snuck up on and having no chase interaction.
Not everybody is going to like the same thing. Just because I don’t like hit and run killers doesn’t mean I’m asking for them to be changed, it’s just extremely boring to me.
And the fact that I’ve been facing an influx of Wraith and Ghostface isn’t exactly warming me up to them either. It’s the same monotonous playstyle over and over again with no variety. The reason Myers is typically regarded as the most enjoyable stealth killer to play against is because he has a lot of different builds and playstyles. Wraith is the same bland playstyle no matter who is playing him.
Are we all supposed to like the same thing or something?

Whats bad about hit&run killers?
Why do people always complain about killers that don´t run in circles?
Because the fun part of playing survivor is the chases. It’s the same reason everyone hates Hag, she doesn’t chase. You step in a trap and you die.
Wraith doesn’t chase. He bings his bong slaps you then leaves then proceeds to catch you off guard and down you most of the time thanks to a very long lunge which covers a lot of ground. What is the fun in that? There is no chase interaction. You barely have any chases with Wraith.
I like Oni. I like Plague. I like Billy. I like Bubba. I like Demo. Ya know why? They chase and have threatening powers you have to play around. Killers like Wraith and Ghostface just hit you and run away and don’t commit to chases. It’s not about running the killer in circles, it’s about chase interaction and there is never any with Wraith.

-
I’ve never like Wraith because he doesn’t chase survivors normally, he’s hit and run. It’s the same process “cloak, uncloak, free hit, cloak, uncloak, free hit.” He gets free hits due to his super sonic speed, 100 meter lunge, and the fact that he has better invisibility.
He’s is very average. Not amazing. But his gameplay is so monotonous and stale because it’s all the same. Hit and run killers are so damn boring because there are rarely any true chases involved.
-
It shouldn’t be excused. An experienced Nurse player will win 95% of their games because she doesn’t play DBD. She plays her own game. Despite how hard she is to play, she is still completely broken because her power is outdated and made when there was true infinities in the game. She has little to no counterplay except break LOS and hope she screws up.
But it’s just Nurse and we’ve all learned to deal with it. Even when I die to a good Nurse I’m always like “Well...that’s just Nurse for ya.”
Her power is fundamentally flawed and doesn’t follow the DBD gameplay, she’s always gonna be broken and it is what it is. At least she’s a broken killer who not everyone can pick up and play :/
-
She’s a very fun killer to play but not very enjoyable to go against but honestly, I don’t particularly care if you enjoy her or not.
I go against killers I hate (Freddy, Huntress, Ghostface) and I have to suffer going against them. We all have to suffer going against killers we don’t like. It’s a part of the game. You’re not always going to go against killers you enjoy.
If I play Spirit, I play her just like I would any other killer. Don’t like it? Oh well. I know it sucks going against killers you don’t like. Hopefully your next game is a “fun” killer for you. I’m not going to cherrypick my killers though. If I wanna play Spirit then I’m gonna play her regardless of what anyone thinks and that also goes for any other killer.
-
If they increased the max FOV to what current Shadownborn is I wouldn’t see an issue with it. I don’t see what “unfair advantages” it would give anyone especially if it is capped at what the current Shadowborn FOV is.
I usually use Shadowborn because the higher FOV is very nice to play on. More of a comfort thing.
If you can stretch your resolution, I see no issues with having an FOV slider.

Just for the record, Lady Dimitrescu is far too tall to be in the game. Plague is not anywhere near her height (dunno why people keep saying that). She's 290 cm tall. Plague is probably my height (about 2 meters). Lady Dimitrescu wouldn't fit in the shack or through most doorways. She'd hit the ceiling in some areas of indoor maps.
I believe the taller killers are near 7 feet tall. I think around 6’10? 2 meters is a wee bit short for tall killers like Plague.
-
Usually Ghostface and Bubba are the ones that are the most likely to BM. I usually get a fat smack on the hook by Bubba.
I don’t run into Freddy and Spirit players who BM often. Sometimes sweaty and overbearing but they aren’t actively trying to BM you.
Same with Hag and Twins. Their playstyle is very campy and slug heavy but it doesn’t mean they are playing “toxic”. That’s just the best playstyle for those specific killers.
Demogorgon is typically the most wholesome. If I try to give a Demo a kill he gives me hatch. Sweet baby.
-
The Game map is the most boring monstrosity of a map. It is just “break pallet with no form of a mindgame”. You simply don’t run out of resources on that map unless your team just doesn’t do gens. You can chuck every pallet you get to and if you have a good team or a team that just does gens then the match will be over with before you know it.
-
I would love anything beastly or animalistic like. Look at Demogorgon. He fits perfectly into DBD.
The two big ones I’d want is Xenomorph or a werewolf. @Cornpopers_Evan is also an advocate of more monstrous type killers
-
Plague, Pig, and Twins.
Plague because it’s a damned if you do, damned if you don’t scenario. Don’t cleanse and she has easy tracking, counters all healing perks, and an insta down. Cleanse and she gets her better power and I’ve seen some Plague’s get some really good shots with her Corrupt Purge.
Pig can slow the game to a halt with her RBT. She’s not the greatest but for some reason I usually do well with her despite running zero slowdown perks.
Twins are actually pretty good due to being in two places at once but you have to play them very campy and slug a lot :/

Because I know it’s just a game and it has no effect on me in real life.
Sometimes I feel my face getting hot and I can feel myself getting frustrated but it’s always at instances where I get cucked over like pallet desync or phantom hits. But I never get upset over someone just playing better than me. It’s bound to happen. I know I won’t win every match.
I mean when I play a killer like Pig with no slowdown and get The Game/Ormond and good survivors, I know I have little to no chance so it’s just a “darn” moment.

Most do it to BM honestly.
I only personally do it if I hate that specific survivors’ scream. I am looking daggers at you Elodie.
