Ah. Huh. That's curious. I was kinda expecting Doc, or maybe even Artist.
Did they mention why?
Yes….indeed
-
Yeah I played a lot of houndmaster yesterday. None of those games updated either.
-
If we had killer bots this for sure would never happen.
-
I mean I am running a chest build with a key. I can open chest instantly and with streetwise, the items I get have 80% more charges not to mention my teammates can rummage for a free item WITH my streetwise buff making the item have more charges.
Its a lot of fun. Throw a coin in there and you will likely have a chest spawn nearby.
-
Honestly I was just thankful I got anything at all.

Why retired them to begin with? Why can't developers just leave stuff alone. If they are worried an item isn't being used enough find another item type that will be used the way they want.
They did. Reworked map and keys.

I really think it’s a good idea to get reimbursed for the add ons for the items we spent blood points on and cannot use.I played for a long time and spent alot of blood points on. Honestly, instead of adding a bunch of "QoL" systems that nobody really asked for, they should have taken this year to address bugs and their spaghetti code. This is the exact wrong time to add a new survivor item that introduces a mountain of bugs.
While I do agree with you 100%, the thing is, people HAVE been asking for this stuff for years. I mean literally years.
-
Killer main here - Fog vials do not need to be removed. Are they distracting? Sure. They're suppose to be. Just my opinion. I don't think they are OP by any means.
-
Also how much of a rework is really going to be getting? Most of it will likely be a revert?

RIP Franklins :(

When we add new killers to the mode, it's a lot of work in the balancing of them before they can get added - this time we've got more changes to the classes (as you heard on Stream), plus the Play Whilst you Wait feature, with working on all the various aspects of the game, including things like the QoL feature, the balance changes as well as new content and Events, it is not possible to do everything unfortunately.
Understandable!

I sadly think that BHVR doesn't priorotize Twins, neither have plans to spend any resources on further development on them. I guess we have to wait and see if they will revisit them once their "to do" list is fullfilled.
I understand truly. I do. I just feel like hey, if we saved time and resources from trickster, sadako and skull merchant, we could have had more than enough time to given her a proper rework. I know she isnt a top priority I get it but its content. Their content. It should be looked at and not forgotten about.

I understand that. But Twins are lost, there is no way to make them fun for either side without reworking them or incentiving them to not slug. Twins overall have most counterpicks and have hard counterplay but when teams know what they are doing, Twins are not even that strong. The fact that BHVR tried and have up makes me feel that they will not be touched really, apart from some weird tweaks like chase triggering by Victor, which caused a lot of sound bugs.
But that is my whole point of this thread and my idea. It would keep them from slugging, make them even more fun to play as and against.
Twins is a killer that genuinely NEEDED a rework. Instead they got "Adjustments" Meanwhile Trickster, Sadako, SkullMerchant, Freddy all got reworks that were NOT needed respectfully.
Twins doesn't have to be loss, but BHVR shouldn't definitely fix their chapter for sure. It would smooth things out and I would certainly be a lot more interested in playing Twins myself b/c currently I do not. I really love Macro Gameplay.

To your idea. Victor is the only fun element about Twins as Charlotte is powerless M1 killer. Removing Victor from kit or giving him Ai would make those 3 people who play them to not play them. I feel that Twins identity is kinda strong because they were first macro multitasking killer in DBD before BHVR decided to give every new killer teleports or zooming speed.
It wouldn't take anything away. Victor can still be controlled with my idea. Charlotte and Victor just need a little more spice to their kit.

That would assume the survivors she hits manage to escape her to go mend rather than go down. The reason LEGION is a "mend simulator" is because his power encourages hit and run. Thats not really the case for Houndmaster.
That's true but I fear that it would become that when you send the dog to chase, get the hit, they go to deep wound. Spot another survivor nearby, deal with them because the other survivor now has to go "Mend" if ya catch my concern?
I do like your idea though. Truly.

Well I don't know if you where already around there, but they tried to go away from the slugging. Problem was that she was suddenly able to injure an entire team without real counterplay, and you could also down 1 person additionally. It didn't even have a huge cooldown xD
I feel like the ai-version sounds interessting but only if they fix him being stuck before - please don't let him be nemesis zombies xD
Fair enough!
@CompetitifDBD said:

I think it'd be cool if once you unbind, Charlotte becomes an AI M1 killer, and Victor upon hitting a survivor, doesn't latch onto healthy survivors anymore, and had a cooldown on the spot before being controlled by an AI to continue chasing the hit player, like a Knight guard. If Victor downs the survivor with a Springtrap style scratchy scratch grab attack up close and personal, he'll latch onto them then (like in the PTB that made them the best killer in the game temporarily,) preventing the survivor from picking themselves up, from recovering and requiring a teammate to get rescued from Victor's clutches. Charlotte can't recall Victor in this state, or that'll just let them slug again. Charlotte upon coming close to Victor, would bind with Charlotte again automatically (latched or in chase), letting you release him on a different survivor, or control him and down the already injured Survivor yourself. Charlotte at anytime can also recall Victor as she can now, if hes struggling to down the survivor and you'd like your power back, its available at anytime the second the AI takes over.
This way, Twins can truly be a killer that hunts as a pair, getting the slowdown of the advertised 2v4. The only way to get rid of victor once he hits you essentially is to crush him instantly and give Victor back to Charlotte, or keep the killers power and risk going down. This way they can't slug since Victor will either get crushed in his AI chase, or he'll get the down and latch onto the downed survivor until you pick up. Charlotte should be able to make her pick ups now, since survivors can't recover while victor is attached to them.
Thoughts? Just a speedrun comment, i barely thought about what I've said, kinda just wingin it
Yeah for sure that would be so neat. Id be down for that style of power for sure. Then give victor a little hat! They could play off of this idea with some of their thoughts and feedback as well.
-
I think it was just because of the pressure that the devs went through on Social Media about Skull Merchant. To be fair, the devs were getting flamed hard by almost everyone because of her OG design aka 3 Gen Merchant, so I think to "Ease the Pain" they ended up just reworking her entirely.
However, they should have just wrote out a formal message saying in a nutshell like hey were sorry this was the direction she went, It really wasn't our intentions etc etc….Balance fixes. Done. People would have moved on eventually.

.I’ve been a Sadako main ever since she was released — in fact, I started playing the game because of her, as she’s always been my favorite horror icon. However, I’d like to suggest a few changes to make her feel more threatening.
MANIFESTATION / DEMANIFESTATION:
Change: Make the lullaby while demanifested spread across the entire map.
Goal: Survivors should still be aware that she’s demanifested, but they shouldn’t be able to tell that she’s nearby just by the lullaby getting louder.
TVs:
Change: Completely remove the survivors’ ability to see the auras of nearby active TVs.
Goal: This would make the TVs more unpredictable, forcing survivors to search more carefully and increasing their tension.
Change: Increase the interaction time to insert or retrieve cursed videotapes from TVs to 2 seconds (as it was originally).
Goal: Give Sadako more time to teleport to a TV before being interrupted, and prevent survivors from easily returning tapes right in her face during chases.
CONDAMNATION:
Change: Remove the mechanic that blocks Condemned progress when hooking a survivor.
Goal: This mechanic works against the most effective gameplay style for The Onryō — focusing on Condemnation — and slows her down unnecessarily, especially considering her extremely weak chase potential.
Change: Survivors holding a cursed videotape should passively gain 1 stack of Condemned every 24 seconds.
Goal: Make cursed tapes a real and constant threat for those who carry them. This also pays homage to the original films, where failing to copy and spread the tape within 24 hours brought people closer to death — in the game, this would be 24 seconds without delivering the tape.
I believe these changes would make The Onryō stronger without making her overpowered. They would reduce her dependency on map layouts or survivor mistakes, while enhancing her unique Condemnation mechanic and creating more consistent pressure throughout the match.
"Change: Make the lullaby while demanifested spread across the entire map."
Or just make it non directional. That would fix her issue too.
"Change: Remove the mechanic that blocks Condemned progress when hooking a survivor."
I can't say that I agree with this one. This one doesn't hurt anything by existing. You might as well get credit for hooking. Otherwise what else are you going to do? Go back to Slug Sadako? Not ideal anymore.
"Change: Survivors holding a cursed videotape should passively gain 1 stack of Condemned every 24 seconds."
I think 30 would be plenty.

This wouldn't be the first time PTB was smoother and the actual release was a disaster performance wise.
AND now knowing that the engine is being updated I fear MORE rubber band is on the way. When we had to update for the PTB because of the Engine the Stuttering felt better, I totally get your concern though truly! I am hoping the update was because OF the stuttering and thats why they made that decision. To be honest, we weren't having this issue until Ghoul came out. (I believe)

I feel like the normal default for Snug should be that his "search" circle is always active. I dont really understand why snug wouldn't notice a survivor in a bush he walks past unless he is told to run past that bush to check on a gen across the map.
I have never thought about that but yeah, you are right. The chase command would give them the houndsense debuff. Very interesting and efficient. The only issue with that I fear is that she would be another Mend simulator killer, I really don't want that for her.

I guess if she we're to get a new command, it should be something that makes her Undetectable and a bit of slowdown. Like maybe when a survivor is found via Houndsense, Houndmaster can make Snug continuously harass the survivor (like a guard hunt. There is also an unused machanic on Houndmaster referred to as Dog Taunting, which could be the name of this command), all while the killer becomes Undetectable to surprise the other survivors. Effectively chasing 2 survivors at once and catching someone else off guard
That would be fun! I like multitasking so yes! 🙌🏼 dog! Harass!

id honestly wish they'd introduce the mechanic where if you hit a survivor it at least removes the tape from their inventory,. having to chase, down, and hook a survivor as a mouse 1 killer simply to remove the item they retrieved easily which completely counters your abilities is so obnoxious. like, compare the amount of effort they have to put in to nullify your abilities compared to the amount of effort you have to put in to remove it from their inventory
I know they did not do it well but I really enjoyed the idea of her 2nd rework, at least compared to what we have now which is BS. the idea that you had to take a risk by taking the dangerous tape to protect yourself, but you better not get caught by the killer holding it felt like it was straight from the movies. I think they could implement this concept now, maybe if she hits you it removes it and you get 1 point. it would actually make survivors hesitant to just brainlessly take tapes because you better not get caught with it, there's a sense of risk.
current version throws all reason out of the window. taking the "cursed" tape has no consequence. you can literally hoard it for as long as you can. it doesn't protect you against condemn; the tapes have no depth to them. the only difference between having a tape and not having a tape is that if you have one, you can basically go "trying to condemn me now is useless, because I now have the ability to remove it in one second thanks to this thing in my inventory"Correct. How ring drawing should work, upon hitting a survivor the tape breaks. 1 stack of condemn goes to each survivor. Currently it’s way too much effort. Current ring drawing should be basekit.
I’ve been saying this forever. Cursed tapes equal consequences. That’s why I love her first design. The design itself was fine. She just needed the buffs we have today.
I know I sound like a broken record in this thread but that’s as complex as it gets.
Then rework addons -
@StalkingYou said:

Her original design was good the only thing that was plaguing it was 100 second cooldown televisions. that absolutely had to be changed, among a couple other buffs including longer invisibility and demanifestation pallet stun immunity. The 100 second cooldowns is really the only thing that made her D tier.
Correct. Keep the 1st design as they should have, with today’s buff. Lowered tv cooldowns, locking in condemn on hooks. Add on reworks/changes.

Your hex play thing cancelled it out.

@I_Cant_Loop said:
When will Sadako be reworked? Well let’s do the math: there are now 40 killers in the game. Seems like we get a killer rework about twice per year. So, you can expect one sometime in the next 20 years, and that’s not accounting for the other new killers who will be added and reworked (maybe multiple times) in the future (see: Skull Merchant). So maybe in about 20 years if you’re really lucky.
Yeah I am hoping we get more efficient and faster response time with this type of stuff.
It’s gotten a little bit better but still takes WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY TOOOOOO long.
That’s why I think BHVR needs more crew in their team. More devs.

Maps reworks seem to be the same issue. 🤣🤣

@GeneralV said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3970798#Comment_3970798
Honestly, my friend, I think the complaints about her first design being too weak, which in turn caused the first rework to happen, were a consequence of the game getting too many anti-loop killers almost back-to-back.
Deathslinger, Pyramid Head, Twins, Nemesis, Cenobite, Artist. Blight and Trickster, dash and range respectively, were also released around that time. Too many killers who primarily focused on chases, rather than macro gameplay. So by the time Sadako is released, for all intents and purposes a M1 killer, some players may have thought her kit didn't do enough.
I agree my friend.

Yeah I don't remember having a ton of issues with her first iteration. But the second was cooked.
I agree. On paper, the second design sounded good. In game, it was too strong and not to mention boring to play as. It really was. Mindless spamming of tvs.
Her 3rd iteration is similar just toned down but survivors now also have complete control over your power. 🥱 -

Honestly, yeah. Most Sadakos I go against use her invisibility to tunnel, similarly to Wraith. If you can't copy the tapes and they progress too fast, it just gets easier to force players out quickly. At the same time, if you're able to ignore them then what's the point of having them at all?
It’s actually super simple. 1st design. Today’s buffs in her. Done.

”Catch me a rat” 🐀 🤣
Send snug out to chase a survivor. When he locks on he runs after the survivor. If he reaches the survivor he grabs them and pulls them back to Houndmaster. Survivors can’t free them from this grab but can be stunned by pallets?
OR instead of that when he catches up he just bites them injuring them, if he downs them, he starts pulling their body back to Houndmaster like in the trailer.I’m just playing off your ideas. 💡

I disagree completely. Condemn should be the focus of her power. We don't need more chase-focused killers. We need more that operate in different ways with alternate play styles.
Sadako's problem is that her Condemn play style is bad AND her chase ability is bad AND her stealth ability is bad. There isn't a single aspect that hasn't been nerfed to oblivion. The only thing keeping her out of F-tier next to Skull Merchant is her ability to teleport.
Agreed. I’m 💯 against giving her a chase power. She does not need to be like 85% of the roster.
She needs to be more fun to play again.
-
@GeneralV said:
Sadako is a killer that I genuinely don't understand why she got changed so much.
Her original design was fine as it was. A bit on the weaker side, yes, but not every killer needs to be Nurse or Blight. Sadako was okay.
Exactly. They should have kept OG design with today’s buffs.
I don’t play her as much as I use to because her current kit is just boring. Tapes are free for survivors, you get 2 powers punished in 1 action by the survivor. She’s just boring now. I’ve tried to vocalize this feedback for over a year now to keep in the minds of the team.Hopefully one day again, they’ll make her more fun to play.
@StalkingYou said:
I'm not even going to talk about whether she's strong or not (I'll just say I don't think she is) because some killers can be weak and fun at the same time.
But as someone with over 2k hours on this killer, mained since release, I actually think she is in a worse state than her original version with the 100 second TV cooldowns. The long and the short of it is that survivors can disable 75% of your power with no downside to them and it just feels like crap.
Sadako has 3 components: her stealth, teleport, and condemn.
With a 1 second interaction, a survivor can completely nullify the teleport and make the condemn aspect basically useless.
This would be fine if there was actually a downside to doing this, but there is none; taking a tape prevents her from teleporting to your generator, and makes it so it's basically impossible for her to try and condemn you because at any time you can run towards your target TV and remove 3 stacks. The only way for her to get rid of that tape is to chase and hook you as a mouse 1 killer. It's funny how easy, free, and beneficial it is to get a tape compared to how hard it is to remove it from a survivor's inventory. It's also funny how you have to hook people in order to have a chance of condemning them, probably the most counterproductive thing in the entire game.
Oh, and when you do actually use a TV, the game plays a global and, if close enough, directional sound queue showing exactly where you're coming from. And she still takes 3 business days to emerge from a TV. So much for "surprising survivors" I guess.
I'm not saying the survivor should be screwed either way by punishing them if they take a tape and punishing them if they don't. I'm also not saying that we should bring her old global condemn version back because I know people will say that this version is better than what it was. But as of right now her power is completely dictated by survivors. It doesn't take a 4 man swf to counter this killer as all you have to do to counter her is go to a TV and hold a button for one second. A player with 2 hours can do that. I honestly had more fun with her original release version because despite the TV's having a 100 second cooldown, you could actually USE them.
Again, you can have your own thoughts on whether she's good or not but I'm just disappointed that this killer's power is disabled for free and without any afterthought from the survivors for the majority of the game. And that the chances of BHVR revisiting her is very low as they've already changed her like 4 times. The current version of her is just so unfun to play.I’m not sure about how I feel about global condemn. On one hand, it fixes the issue where survivors dictate your power entirely. On the second hand, it was boring.
I enjoyed he first design again, there was nothing wrong with it, like I mentioned she just needed today’s buffs to go with it.
