  • As killer if I have barely any hooks (I'm talking like 2 or less) and if I only see just one survivor and the other three aren't interested in trying to start chases or anything and just speed run gens, then I'll call it and just go wait off to the side of the map and watch a video on my other monitor until the game is over. If they want to just play gen fix simulator then ok I'll let them do exactly just that. I get quick queues as killer anyway, so it's no problem for me.

    Sadly you can not :)

I am not Meg main anymore. Kate, Ace and now Leon are my mains. And also i am Nemesis too

    Damn! Lol

Oh well, plenty of other Megs out there in the fog to yeet across time and space.

Hope to see you out there in the fog either way =)

As old Meg main, i would see when you try to kill me :) If you dare to touch my Meg, i will blind you and t-bag

I will look forward to re-enacting that Nemesis reveal trailer with you in the future >=)

  • I... don't even notice the charms as killer, if I'm being 100% honest. I have the same mentality as Dimek up there. Me see survivor, me kill. Don't really care what they're wearing or who they're playing, I'm an equal opportunity killer.

(Except for Megs. All Megs must be the first to perish. Nemesis agrees.)

I'd never even thought of AHS themed skins!

If I could get some Coven themed outfits for the female Survivors I would give up my paycheck readily. 😍

Yeeesss! Oooh I didn't even think about that! Having a legendary skin that turns one of the female survivors in to Zoe or Madison! I can almost picture them in the game perfectly. I was also thinking killer wise having Mr. Jingles as a skin too, probably for Clown too? One skin that I can't figure out who to give to is the Rubber Man though, not sure which killer I'm the game would fit. Maybe Trickster, instead of the bat he gets like the fire poker that he used to kill the one couple in the house or something? The throwing knives thing I think works, but not sure. All the moris would just be wrong though lol, although I could see Twisty getting away with the finger thing.

  • Hmmmm.....I honestly don't know. A part of me wants to see some interesting collabs especially since they got the Crypt TV skins. But I was thinking, maybe we can get some American Horror Story skins? I think Twisty the Clown would make an interesting legendary skin for, maybe Clown? Can't really think of anything else at the moment though.

  • 9.9/10 times I end up slugging the 3rd survivor cus I usually know where the 4th survivor is and go grab them. After that I then proceed to hook and end the game quickly. If I don't know where the last survivor is I just go and hook the 3rd and then begin my search and go to some of the spots that I think would be likely.

I think that’s fine! I would be very happy with it if it went that way. I was thinking of those killers who wait for you to crawl to the hatch while dancing on it, then close it, dance over your body and then hook you and hit you till you disappear. Like that’s just a little extra hahah

Oh, yeah no I don't do that. I just hook and finish the game. Doing that is just an all around dick move lol. Although it's funny, so the other day I had a Ghostface game in Hawkins and I downed and killed everyone. Essentially I won, all I had to do was hook the Meg. But I felt like her and the team played a very good game and so I was gonna let her escape. After I downed her I let her wiggle off of me and she went to work on the last gen so she could escape. So I went and left her to it and walked away. So as I'm walking away, I hear the hatch sound and figure oh, hey that would be faster! So I can only imagine how this poor survivor felt when I came back and yoinked her off of the gen and started in the direction of a hook lol. But yeah I turned from the hook and walked in to the room next to it and set her down next to the hatch and let her go.

  • I don't really see a Mr. X skin for Nemy only because that tentacle would look so awkward on him since Mr. X doesn't actually have tentacles of his own. So I don't know about that one. The only skin that I could see coming for him would be his famous topless skin which goes back to classic RE3 and they even remade the skin for him in MVC3. So I'd say very high probability on this one coming in eventually.

DBD is a giant game of freeze tag. That's the basic idea behind the game if you really think about it and take away all the horror ascetics.

Yeah, I get that, at its core that's really all it is you're right. But with freeze tag, if you're it, then would'nt the same thing apply, where you'd want to try and tag people out as quickly as you can before they can reach safe base? I guess I just don't understand what the problem with this is, cus that's the main objective of one side, to eliminate as many of the other side as they can before they can escape.

  • I...don't think I understand...is this not the point though, for the killer to try and, well you know, -KILL- people as quickly as he can? I might be confused on what you're saying.

I want to play more Killer (I hover around rank 8) but the frame drops I get when swinging, teleporting with Hag (my main) or when I get bloodlust make it unplayable. New PC maybe red rank. Leon looks awesome in PTB, though his perks seem kinda newb-friendly like Fengs.

Yeah I have more fun (most of the time lol) as killer. It's just more my playstyle and I kinda like having to play the little mind games with the survivors every now and then especially if they're good at it too. One thing it could be for your comp, I mean I don't know what you're rocking, but with my personal experience on my old computer I had a great graphics card, all the memory I could need and everything. The only thing that would bog down my system and trigger these random frame drops in some games was my CPU was sooooo outdated that it couldn't keep up with the everything else. Hopefully it's that simple and not more complicated lol

Honestly, that's really good to hear about their perks being noob friendly because I am noob lol.

I am not having fun with dbd. Here's why

killers dont get any sort of punishment for playing unfairly. things such as camping and tunneling are normalized yet its a "ranked game". and any sort of survivor rebuttal such as disconnecting from a round gives survivor an automatic temporary ban from the game. games that are ranked should be purely focused around skill. it is not skill to camp or tunnel because theres physically nothing a survivor can do other than rely on a survivor saving them with perks such as borrowed time. yet a survivor can only defend up to 4 toxic killer traits at once (because you're only able to equip 4 perks before a round) and even with perks to rebuttal against these, you still need perks in order to help you with chases, fixing generators, spotting the killer, etc. one of the simplest concepts dbd could implement (but refuses) would be to make survivors die slower on the hook the closer the killer is to the hooked body, but die faster, the further away a killer is from the body. now obviously this wouldnt work against every killer e.g. the nurse because she has the ability to teleport across the map in an instant. but it wouldn't be a bad idea still.

another issue that ive mentioned is the ban after disconnecting, half the times ive disconnected from the game was a steam or dead by daylight related issue. they werent annoying at first (since it was only a 5 minute ban) but if you get disconnected twice, it goes to 15 minutes, a third time 30 mins, 4th 1 hour, a fifth 6 hours, etc. but it doesnt matter if you play 7 rounds after disconnecting the first time, if you disconnect a 2nd time like 7 games later, youll still get the 15 minute ban, then the 30 minutes, etc. even if you wait the next DAY to play again youll still get the 6 hour ban if you disconnect again. so therefore, with the more frustration this game has brought me than fun, i have decided to uninstall dead by daylight.

I mean I get rocked and harassed by red rank SWF teams A LOT who will run the most toxic add-ons and perks built specifically just to screw with me until they get bored. But not once have I ever said "X perk/item needs to be banned or fixed". No, because unfortunately whether I like it or not, as cheap as the tactic may be, it's still a part of the game that I need to deal with, and yes that includes keys. I don't complain about keys either because they are a part of the game and until the devs decide to do something with them, I need to deal with them still in game.

Now I will admit the thing I do complain about the most is the ranking system, cus I do genuinely think that it makes no sense to have rank 1s and 2s facing new rank 13 killers who barely have any perks unlocked for them to help counter some things the survivors might throw at them. That to me is the most unfair thing in this game. Also your suggestion about having survivors die slower if the killer stays close to the hook, wouldn't work because then you'll just have survivors loop around close to the hooks to buy their team mates some extra unwarranted time until they can get saved. I think I remember reading that BHVR tried something like this and that's exactly what happened, and it was broken so they had to revert those changes.

Anyway my point is, outside of using actual hacks or using obvious bugs/glitches to your advantage, if it's something available in the game then it's fair game.

Nice! Personally I don't like playing survivor, it's just not my style of gameplay overall. But...I miiiiiight give it a try again once the Resident Evil stuff goes live and I can play Leon and Jill.

Your response is just an addition to the toxicity that circles around the point. Ranks mean nothing. It is more an indication of time played, than skill. If you are not new to the game, then you should know that red ranks derp just as hard as other ranks.... throw themselves at hookes, etc.

The point is that its a casual game.... not competitive... and toxicity only serves to harm the player base and give us less people overall to play with or against.

Your response and expectation is part of the problem. Play the game to have fun. Ignore chat and move on if you think it is toxic. Those players have other issues in their life, that they feel the need to say that in a video game. They shouldn't react that way any more than what you said. Both are damaging and if you like the game you should want to build a fun community with iconic survivors and killers we all love.

Whoops I misread who you were responding to. Ignore this, sorry!

Whoa. Blast from the past, I haven't heard of that game in years. Kinda of a bummer now that I remember it, but I would not object to this license as well, knowing Capcom they'd probably be in high favors for more crossovers. They're not as stingy and they know a good marketing deal when they see one haha

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Haunting Ground, but I do like the idea of the killer using a weapon that's essentially just an oversized glass shard, I think that'd be kinda cool to see lol.

Yeah Capcom isn't like most developers in regards to being difficult to work with or them being really stingy with their guys (cough KONAMI cough) so I'm hoping that further down the line we see some more come from this relationship.

And again even though I main killer, if they added Frank West I would totally start playing survivor lol.

NOED is good perk for end game. You played with 3 perks all game and NOED worked only end game. If they would clean all totems, you would never use NOED. So that is their fault for ignore totems, not yours

Haha actually here's the funny thing. I was playing a lvl 15 Wraith and only had 3 perk slots unlocked. So actually I played the game with just two active perks, BBQ and Franklin's and still got told off at the end. And to make it even more funny, one of their guys had the perk from Tapp that helps them track down totems too lol. But again, I'm the bad guy here. It's just funny and sad how worked up some people get over this game.

  • So I just stumbled on to this video a few minutes ago and I wanted to share it as it does relate to my post here of toxicity and just wanting us to chill and be more respectful here. I agree with what he says and my hope is that by posting this here, that hopefully it reaches out to enough reasonable people within the community so that we can actually come together, be less toxic as a whole, and just chill and play a damn video game with each other and have some fun.

Frank freaking West in dbd? I actually am in favor with this concept. I'm just imagining a perk where if he uses "the activate ability button" by a locker, he'd pull out a random item similar to a chest, but has half the charges

Yooo that would actually be a kinda fun ability. Maybe limit it to like once per game or something? Or that he has to be injured and out of the terror radius to activate it and can't activate if he's already holding something? Yeah I like this, and I don't even play survivor, I'm a killer main lol.

Yeah smart killers leaving and patrolling generators sadly. But most killers hate t-bag. When i gave them pallet stun and then starting t-bag, they hates me and wants me out :d I mean i already wanna your attention, thank you for ignore gens and try to tunnel me. Deliverance + DH + DS + UB combo really help me, just i need save first hook that's all i need. And so many times i am calling as noob for those perks.

Nah that's dumb. I wouldn't call you a noob for running perks like that, it's part of your build to help your role of trying to be the shiny keys to get the killers attention lol. I personally don't get the hate for people using certain perks. I mean I literally had a match last night where I used NOED and the response to that was the survivors telling me that I was NOED trash and that I should go die. Like...I'm sorry but it's an actual ability available for me to use in game. Why shouldn't I use it? I didn't cry that they all ran BT and DH. It's part of their kit, they're supposed to use it.

I had a survivor bodyblock me with BT, and that ticked me off so I tunneled her to death. I don't like doing it but survivors sometimes don't give us a choice.

I have been guilty of anger tunneling someone who has baited me in to a DS before. I can't lie about that...

Well we would love each other xD

I love get chase by killer for that i am doing t-bag or flashlight clicks for take attention. Most of times when i doing that i am dying for that. Or killer is rewarding me with facecamp. But it is fine, i wasted killer's time so much and helped my teammates. But i hate when killers ignoring me

Hahaha it would be a blast for sure. But you want to know something funny? Sometimes if I see that they're blatantly doing it to take heat off of their friends who I see are lurking behind me, sprinting for the gen I'll shake my head no and then I'll blatantly ignore them and go after their friends lol. It all depends for me really. Cus I know that survivors who beg for the attention are doing it to waste my time. I just take a second to think whether or not it's worth it. Like down 3 gens and only have 1 hook. Ok, cowabunga time. If gens are good and I know where the others are at. Nah, I'll save you for last lol. It's this aspect of the mind games that I genuinely love playing with you survivors =).

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    Ok, lets make a comparison:

Can you kill Claudettes and Adams in the game? Sure.

Can you kill Claudettes and Adams and tell them you did it because they are N-words? You can, but you will get banned.

Can you kill people with the Pride Charm? Sure.

Can you kill people with the Pride Charm and tell them you did it because they are F-Words? You can, but you will get banned.

Really, too much thinking on that one. Way too much.

Stop that, you're making too much sense here.

  • Usually when I do end up tunneling I will just go and tunnel the one person who gets on my nerves and tries to get my attention. Flashlight clicking and teabagging behind a palette. At that point it's like, ok well if you want my attention for yourself then I guess you're gonna get it. Got no one to blame but yourself at that point.

Yeah it should at the very least allow a wider range of viable killers & in my opinion help newer players or less frequent killers players to enjoy that side of it.

Under the current system I personally have a core 5 or 6 killers I'm pretty good to very good with I know if I use any of the others without the meta perks (that I don't even use on my core killers) i'll get destroyed most games until I de rank far enough to learn the killer properly. Even though I buy every chapter its more to support the game playing new killers usually just unmotivates me to play killer at all.

MMR will have its faults & issues but the system on the whole should be more fair & rewarding than the current one

Yeah I only have 5 killers at lvl 40, everyone else is either 25 or below. So even on the one killer I like, I still don't have all the meta perks unlocked anyway so I'm still at a disadvantage more or less. It's funny too cus on my lower killers, like the ones who I have 2 or maybe 3 perk slots open, sometimes the bloodweb just totally screws me have no good perks to run on those guys. So if it's available I'll just use NOED on those guys, which ends up pissing the higher ranked survivors that I get stuck with. But it's like, ######### you want me to do? Not use a decent perk and just run something useless like deer stalker or iron grip, and handicap myself more just to make you who's running BT, DS, and DH feel better? It's ridiculous. So yeah, having some kind of MMR where I can at least be in games with people who aren't as sweaty and are at least close to my skill level would be a god send.

Dang, that's not good! Spirit is definitely a vibe killing killer.

Lol it's fine. It was my first time ever playing the game and I was in an SWF with two friends who are purple ranked. I literally was so lost in what to do that I switched between working on a gen and hiding in a corner all game. So Honestly I'm surprised I lived for as long as I did there since I was pretty much like a deer in headlights in regards to what am I supposed to do lol.

  • As a big Left 4 Dead fan, I was both surprised and happy to see Bill in the list of survivors.

I then proceeded to just get absolutely rocked by a purple ranked Spirit 🙃

It is supposed to work something like this.

All reset to rank 20 at the end of the rank period your awarded x amount of bloodpoints based on your ranking with rank 1 getting the highest.

Each killer someone plays with will have their own hidden from players ranking.

For example I'm a good trapper player so in theory i'd be matched against players who play well against trapper (so something similar to red ranks now except most of them seem to jump in traps every other second)

I'm a terrible demo player so again in theory i'll be matched with players who are not great against demo)

These players could be ranked 1 or 20 it will make no difference that's just for blood point rewards if there is no de pip (I'm not sure either way) i'd expect the majority of us red ranks to hit rank 1 every month will little issue it will save a little grinding & give a new target to aim for.

From a survivor point of view I belive MMR works as follows (regardless who you use)

If your a god against bubba when you come up against better & better bubba players.

If you are always killed by spirit you'll come up against less experienced or worse performing spirit players.

That's how i've taken it all anyway from various sources, I know some people think if they're legit rank 1 survivors they'll basically play against spirit or freddy all day long but i'm fairly sure they will try match you with similar skills from the other side depending how that killer player plays with that killer.

It will still lead to countless issues & never be a perfect system & impossible to match fairly all of the time but I do believe it will work better than the current system the last test they did back in March at least from my own experiences playing both sides for several hours each found it to be a much better fairer system overall.

That actually sounds really good. Yeah it'd be nice to actually play my low rank killers and have to worry less about going against SWF death squads and getting mercilessly stomped lol.

  • @Luciferr_2nd said:

Ranks will only be used for BP rewards at the end of the month period, and yes i believe you will always be reset back to rank 20,and you can't depip.

This will be implemented when MMR is live, in which rank will no longer be used as a measure of skill for matchmaking.

They give an idea of when MMR is planning to go live?

  • Yeah....it would've been nice to know that they expired after 24 hours....

That's the thing that I thought was funny too lol. Also three of them were running BT as well. Surprised none of them were running DS on top of it too. But again it goes back to what I said. Should I handicap myself and run a useless perk like iron grip just to make them feel better? I would like to try to win too you know lol

The totem cleanse speed is only relevant if you're being contested on the hex totem you want to cleanse. If the killer isn't around to stop you, it doesn't matter. However if the killer tries to contest you enough for it to matter, you're typically better off threatening to break the totem rather than actually breaking it since they lose pressure everywhere else on the map as a result and will potentially lose the game.

In addition to that, you only get a significant amount of cleanse speed by cleansing other totems first. But if you stop and take the time to cleanse those totems, you actually waste more time doing so as opposed to skipping them and gunning for the hex totem itself.

These above scenarios apply the same whether you're running Counterforce by itself, or with other totem-related perks (like Small Game). I honestly wouldn't recommend stacking totem perks for these reasons because there's just not much benefit to be derived - especially when compared to running nearly anything else.

    ---

At most, I predict Counterforce will only be decent in a totem meme build or as an alternative to Small Game (of which Small Game will probably still be better, but I'd argue they're close enough).

Ok, I see what you mean. Thanks for actually taking the time to go in to it and go over just how useful this thing may or may not be, I appreciate that =). Curious to see what or if any changes will be made once this chapter goes live next month.

  • @Beaburd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2220048#Comment_2220048

No, it's just a brief and general 4 second aura akin to what you'd see with Detective's Hunch from what I've seen. This aura is also for the totem furthest away from you, not the nearest. So you'll spend a considerable amount of time finding hex perks with this since you have to go across the map every time you cleanse one, pray you remembered and can translate roughly where it was, cleanse what you saw, and then repeat the process until you find the hex perk.

Meanwhile with Small Game, I just rotate around the map and taking the shortest route between each totem, always knowing where they are, and skipping over anything that's not an active totem. It's just so much better for tracking down hex perks than Counterforce (hey, I remembered the new perks name).

    ---

That also, again, all depends on someone else not cleansing the totem you saw and went to painstaking lengths to find and cleanse. If they did, you don't have a perk until you find a completely new totem on your own.

Ohhh ok, and my bad I thought the perk tracked the nearest and not the farthest. But even then wouldn't the ability to cleanse the totems quicker with each cleanse be very powerful on its own, especially if you did mix it with other perks and add-ons to hunt down the active totem?

  • @Beaburd said:

Sorry, I love going on random tangents and creating nonsensical posts with a purpose. When I saw a free opportunity to create a short story to explain my outlook on the issue, I took it.

My main point was just to say that it doesn't really provide significant benefit to SWFs to use it in that way.

You won't know if the totem is dull or a hex, nor its actually location (especially relative to a teammates), and even if you do somehow communicate that, you'd then lose out on the totem-aura and cleansing benefits of the perk itself.

No worries it's cool. I do have a question though, I think I may have missed something on that new perk. So are they not able to see if the totems are active or not? I'd think that them being able to cleanse totems quicker after each cleansing, and being able to see the nearest totem location would be useful in helping pinpoint the killer's active hex especially if they have one of the more common/devastating hexes like Ruin or DH?

I know it’s important to break the cycle, but that survivor did kind of deserve it lol. I always get such second hand embarrassment when my teammates start teabagging and just leave.

Until now I don’t mind slugging that much. It is a little frustrating when they just down the whole team one by one, but I guess it’s also just a way to play and win. Every time a killer has left me to slug as the sole survivor I have always found the hatch (without their help) so I guess karma didn’t allow them to be toxic.

Closing the hatch in my face is definitely the most ######### move you can do in my eyes as a killer, but I honestly can’t even get mad over that either

You know I ended up doing that in a game last week, closing the hatch in a slugged survivors face. But I made up for it and carried them over to the gate and let them wiggle free and get the escape. They legit gave me a couple of good chases throughout the game and at that point I figured I won and decided to show mercy and let them take off. I've seen a couple of the big killer main streamers like Otzdarva doing that, showing mercy and letting the final survivor get the escape if they gave him a good game. I liked that and figured I'd try and do the same. I hope that that's ok and survivors don't take it the wrong way.

It's okay, I imagine a SWF conversation using the new totem perk to go something like this:

    ---

    Bea: "Hey Marik!"

    Marik: "Wazzzzuuupp!?"

Bea: "There's a totem on the other side of the map from me. Go get it"

Marik: "The heck does that mean - where are you?"

    Bea: "Killer shack"

Marik: "So... you want me to find something on the opposite side of the map of the killer shack."

Bea: "Yeah, I think you're closer. It looks to be around that giant barn you said you're at"

Marik: "Oh okay. Is it a hex totem? Where exactly is it?"

Bea: "I dunno, hard to describe too"

Marik: "So... you want me to hunt for a potentially worthless totem using a vague description that you barely got from across the map in hopes that I find it and cleanse it for some reason?"

Bea: "Yeah, now shuddap and go"

Marik: "Ignoring the fact it could just be a useless dull totem, wont your perk also be useless then since you can't see any other totems? "

Bea: "I SAID SHUDDAP AND GO"

    Marik: "..."

I was just asking a question...don't know what's with the sarcasm. I just figured that because SWF teams can actually communicate they can better coordinate things if someone has the perk and wanted to go off on a totem cleansing adventure.

Title says it all. The one time I used eruption, I ran it with surge so I couldn't tell.

Actually I have a question for you. Did you notice if Eruption and Surge stack when the conditions for them to explode go off at the same time?

  • @Beaburd said:

The new totem perk, while nice, won't kill off totems more than Small Game will. It's just a new perk to do the same thing.

You can argue that it increases totem cleansing speeds, and shows the aura of the furthest totem to promote clearing. But you have to remember that you still need to go through the following steps to make use of it:

    • Step 1: find that first totem (time waste)
    • Step 2: run across the map for the next totem (time waste)
    • Step 3: look in the general area where you saw the totem from across the map to actually find it (time waste).

This is all assuming that no one cleanses the totem you see either, in which case you still waste time on step 2/3 before realizing it's gone and going back to step 1.

The amount of additional time wasted to use this perk should offset the improved cleansing speed it provides.

    ---

In contrast, Small Game is much easier to use.

Every map has totems spawn in different quadrants of the map. Simply go to each quadrant in sequence, and use the indicator to find it - done. You also know when some/all totems are cleansed, and when each quadrant is cleared.

But then you can better coordinate with your teammates if you're in a SWF. You can then afford to have that one person go off on their totem cleansing adventure.

The more I learn about playstyles and details, the more I'll give them more specific compliments without a doubt! And thank you! I'm really enjoying the game and community so far.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2219776#Comment_2219776

I really hope that they'll make a change! Thank you for being nice to survivors as well, I for one super appreciate it when a killer acts the way you do and puts in effort to break the cycle. Even my newbie eyes have noticed the matchmaking is quite off; like I'm rank 13 now and I've frequently been put with one or two rank 3-5 people against a rank 20 killer. It's odd but most of the time those survivors die first lol

Yeah the matchmaking in this game is just atrocious and by far the worst I've ever seen in any game, which is saying a lot because I thought Overwatch's system wasn't really that good. But damn, DBD is just there like "Hold my elo score". It is something that I really really do hope that the devs fix at some point though. I think a lot of their problems could be fixed just by fixing the way the ranks work.

But anyway, yeah all in all I just don't see the point in making someone else feel miserable if they've done nothing to me. The only time I've really done anything near as toxic as what some survivors do to us killers is when in one game there was this one cocky flashlight clicking teabagging survivor who taunted me at the exit gates, teabagging and clicking. I had NOED on (I was on my lvl 8 Ghostface with only two perk slots and not really any good perks available, so I gotta use what I got >.< ) and so I went and downed her and I guess she misjudged where she was standing cus I was able to pick her up after the down. So I went and hooked her and just started teabagging right back at her while she died on hook. That is the one and only time I've done anything really that is considered toxic.

But yeah I don't purposefully slug and only really do I camp if I've been gen rushed and I've only gotten like one hook in and they've gotten four of their gens done. At that point I'm like, ok I need to get -something- out of this before they escape lol. Also If I do end up slugging, it's because I see someone else hiding around a corner and try to get them too, but I always go back for the hook and move on. I don't ever just fully leave an entire team down and dance over their bodies until they bleed out, that's just a dick thing to do.

So... survivors make you miserable as killer. Fine, that's common. But your response is to then become the very thing that's making you miserable, instead of playing survivor and trying not to be like those dicks who ruined your games.

    That's... that's totally backwards.

It'd make more sense to meme around as survivor. Run Bond, Technician, Diversion, and Red Herring and have a bit of fun tanking your teammates. That would make some sense as a response.

You talk about making killers better, but that's just a load of crap. There's a difference between a healthy challenge that someone learns from and a miserable experience. The latter is more likely to get players tilted, which makes them play worse, or it causes them to outright quit. If you're playing against low rank killers, then you're probably going against not just newbies but also killers who plateaued and just reached a point after which they're unable to improve. What you're doing is not helping them learn. Matchmaking is already screwing them over; you know that and you're capitalizing on it at their expense.

Ugh, this is why I don't do anything but meme around as killer. The mix of RNG, bugs, bad matchmaking, and unsportsmanlike players makes playing this game for real seem like a completely futile and unfun experience, at least to me. Why anyone would do more than walk around as tier 1 Mikey, spook a few players, and then just wait for the next match is beyond me. The chance to be spooky is what keeps me playing DbD.

    Edit: correction to perk name

It's funny cus just the other day when I ranted about getting just rocked and bullied around by a 4 man rank 1 SWF death squad, someone told me to learn from that experience. I was like what in the hell am I supposed to learn from playing a game against survivors doing back to back body blocks and flashlight spams just for the fun of it? What do I learn as a new killer, playing a game where I wqs completely outmatched where my opponent's literally just toyed around with me until they got bored and then rushed the gens as quickly as possible and then escaping? What is it that I learn from them having one person purposefully stay behind just to play around some more by looping and juking around me at the end until the time runs out to give me that one pity kill? I don't learn very much from those games because I am not anywhere even near the same plane of existence that these people are on to even understand what little things they did in the game. Getting toyed around with is no fun and all you accomplish is just looking like a dick for no reason.

That's so great to hear! I want to start learning to play killer as well, but I'm apprehensive about it cause of all the hate killers seem to receive, so I want to make sure I never make someone else feel that way.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2219731#Comment_2219731

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully thinks will change and the majority of messages will be positive in the future.

Yeah it can get rough, I'll admit. But I genuinely don't like the survivor style of gameplay so I'm stuck with just dealing with the killer abuse and screaming in to the void hoping that someone in BHVR hears about how broken their matchmaking system is. Personally as killer I try not to be toxic at the end. Usually I'll just say "Fair and balanced matchmaking I see..." when I see the survivors are all ranging from ranks 4-1 (I float mostly between ranks 13-10 btw). If I do end up tunneling someone out of the game early I usually apologize at the end of the game and give kudos when it's deserved, like if there was one survivor who just constantly jukes the hell out of me I give them credit for it lol. All in all, like I said in another thread, be the change you want to see. I try not continue the cycle of toxicity in this game myself as best as I can.

  • I mean with the way the matchmaking system is set up right now, we basically don't have ranks at the moment. You got red ranks facing green and potato ranks, and green and purple ranks facing basically a rainbow color of all the ranks. As of right now they could literally scrap the ranks tomorrow and it would make little to no difference to the way the actual game itself functions.

    Hey everyone,

Probably a stupid question here, but I’m very new to the game (got it like last week but I’ve been playing a lot and ranking up fast), and I’ve been watching the forums and subreddit for a while now and I read a LOT of posts about toxic/mean survivors. So, to kinda combat or balance out the ######### people, I’ve been trying to send every killer I play against a nice message. I’m not able to message everyone since I’m on console, so when I can’t do that I try to friend them to show that I like/appreciate them.

My question for the forum is; Do killers enjoy being nicely messaged and/or befriended?

I’m doing it to try to spread positivity, but if it’s actually just annoying or an inconvenience to people I’ll have to reconsider.

    Some context info:

sometimes killers message me back and then they’re always nice, but mostly they don’t reply.

I send messages like: “Thanks for the game! :)” Or “You really steamrolled us hahah. Good job!”

As a baby killer main I absolutely do 100% appreciate friendly messages and light banter at the end of the game. Actually this happened to me last night after one match where one of the survivors complimented me at the end and I genuinely appreciated that and thanked them, telling them that I've still got a lot more to learn in the game. So yes, I like and I really appreciate that you go out of your way to send us kind words. It's refreshing after getting "gg ez" or "terrible killer" from sweaty red ranks who bully.

I do commend you for sticking to killer though be blessed and I hope you continue to play killer for a long time...we know people aren't going to be converting to killer mains without incentives right now

I mean there is no incentives to ranking up in general in the game right now for either side, outside of earning your perks. Once you have that, then what else is there to work towards? The tome challenges I guess? So you're half right about there being no incentives to play killer, but again that's just a massive issue with the overall structure of this game in general which does desperately need to be fixed.

I also agree in that I do think that there needs to be a general unranked matchmaking mode in the game to go along with the ranked matchmaking mode. Majority of games out there now a days have both of these modes, so there's really no excuse for BHVR not to have the same in this game other than they'd have to be bothered to then implement and balance their matchmaking system and institute some sort of elo tracking system that keeps track of things for the unranked games and then balance out their ranked system so that potatoes aren't being matched with red ranks. Unfortunately, judging by how lazy and half-assed the current matchmaking system is- hahahahahaha I doubt BHVR is gonna want to put the effort in to doing anything like that any time soon. The only thing I can imagine that could get them to care about doing something like that would be to have the entire community of the game literally come together and as a collective majority pester them towards the point where they can't ignore us and make it clear what we want in the game.

Look, overall my main gripe with the game is the horrible excuse for a matchmaking system they have. That is honestly imo the biggest glaring problem in the game that is at the root of a lot of problems. But just because the game is broken in that aspect, which results in me sometimes getting bullied and having terrible games where I run in to toxic sweat lords, doesn't mean that I should go and continue that cycle of toxicity and take out my frustrations by ruining someone else's game.

And just to add, yeah ok so you gave the killer a pity kill at the end. I'm gonna tell you, for me personally I -hate- that crap so much more than if the entire survivor team simply just got away at the end. To me it just feels condescending and sort of just stacks on top of the whole powerless feeling that I get in these kinds of one-sided matches. Look at it through my eyes for a second. I go in to a game and throughout the entire thing I have basically no control of anything, all the way down to my most basic objective which is to secure a kill. It feels more like the survivors after giving me hell, basically tell me that "Yeah that's right, we controlled all aspects of this game all the way down to even who you could get. So here, enjoy." It's insulting and barely even makes a difference for me at the end cus I'll still end up barely getting any points for just the one kill anyway, depending on how badly I got outdone in the other categories too.

  • As a somewhat still newbie to this game who has only played killer and only killer (not counting the two SWF games I played cus I died in like two minutes against red and purple rank killers lol) I have to say, this is not the way to go about this.

I have dealt with my fair share of rank 1 SWF death squads that do nothing but bully throughout the entire game via flashlight spams, CONSTANT body blocks, running infinite loops in to another flashlight, then running off, and so on until they get bored and then decide to end the match and maybe toss me a pity kill at the end. I've been there. A lot. I've only been playing the game for a month now, I don't have many perks unlocked and legit have just 5 killers at 40 and some killers who I haven't even touched once (Trapper is one). Even with my horrible experiences being trolled and bullied, I do NOT "pay it forward" to the survivors and act like a toxic jerk on my end. There are times when I could just slug and leave an entire team on the ground and I could just dance gleefully over their slugged bodies and wait for the time to run out, but I don't. The only time I have ever done anything remotely toxic was one game as Ghostface, I had a cocky flashlight clicking teabagging survivor taunt me by the gates. I hit her and she was still within my reach to grab. So I went and hooked her then proceeded to teabag her in return as she died on hook.

Again I understand the frustration of being paired, trolled, and bullied by survivors who have thousands of more hours than me at this game and know the ins and outs of this game like it's second nature to them. But that's no excuse to act like a jerk and continue that cycle of toxicity towards others who have done nothing wrong to me. Because I know what it feels like, I don't want a new unfortunate potato rank survivor who gets screwed by the game's matchmaking and gets paired with me, to end up feeling what I feel when I get bullied by these death squads. It's not right and you accomplish nothing and become no better than the jerks who bullied you.

The funny thing is, sometimes, not often, but sometimes, the red rank death squads apologize to me at the end of the match when they see that I'm still a baby killer. We tall, have a laugh, and wish each other better luck in the next game. Be the change you want to see in this game. You want someone to troll and go ######### at? Then go and spam and troll the devs to do something about their broken system to make it more balanced and quit attacking others in the game who don't deserve it.

  • Yeah I've only been playing a month now only focusing in killer and it's true. There are matches where I've gotten into against red ranked fully geared SWF death squads where I'm trying to level a killer and I got two, maybe three perk slots unlocked and I just spend the entire match getting body blocked, and flashlight spammed. Higher level survivors, especially if they're a coordinated group will have a significant advantage over killers in general, even more so if the broken matchmaking system decides that it wants to throw a baby killer (AKA you) at said group.

  • @Frontdoor6 said:

I've seen some gameplay of Nemesis, looks good so far, but my question is why should survivors have to vaccinate?

I read the ability a few times and besides from the infection itself, it doesn't seem to do much to the survivor. Are they stuck in injured while infected like the Plague? Why do survivors need to vaccinate themselves?

Cus they start coughing and puking just like with plague, making them easier to find.

  • So here's my question. What are the odds for killer legendaries coming with their own unique effects for their abilities and for the mori animations too?

  • Yeah I don't see how moris are toxic right now. To me, the way I see it, after the third down you're dead either way whether I hook you or execute you. Also like it was stated earlier, sometimes it's not even worth going for the mori as the animations usually (depending on the killer) take longer than just hooking them and walking away. Like I personally never really run a mori offering unless if I really don't feel like using up one of my other offerings. To me it's just not worth taking 9.9/10 times. So yeah I have no clue ######### that dev meant by the moris being toxic right now, if anything they're a bit useless right now.
