It's pretty funny. I had a full meta Blendette trying to play like she still had OP protection. Funnily enough, unhooking someone in the killers face because you have "protection" or immediately working on the gen right next to the killer isn't feasable any more.

The fun thing about that is a lot of people don't read patchnotes and don't know about the changes until it hits them in the face.

    @Marcavecunc

Nobody is talking about old Ruin. We are talking about what helps the team with progression to their objective, and a gen sitting at 0% isn't progression.

Yeah of course.. Old ruin's tapping method did not help the team progress to their objective, I'm sorry, I don't know what I was thinking.. The gens were progressing by magic, not because tapping them made them progress. Carry on with your misguided ideas.

    @MrPenguin

Sorry but touching a gen for 1 second does not progress the objective to warrant a deactivation of DS. If the survivor is oblivious to what the killer's real intentions are, you really think they are going to know that? No.

I am not saying that at that point the survivor will have to find other means, but I am also pointing out that, in this instance that IS tunneling. The killer specifically went to hunt that survivor down. Thus this is an action that is no longer punishable via the perk. The perk already has problems enough that it isn't a true anti-tunnel perk. For one, it should work on both hooks. Unless of course you think the killer can only tunnel off of hook #1.

On the last part I never said you said that. I am simply pointing out that tunneling isn't black and white as many seem to think. There is different context in each situation.

It does though. Remember old Ruin? The tapping method was a sure way to make generators progress while avoiding skillchecks.

Survivors are making it sound like no other perk makes an obsession.

As of now, according to the wiki, these are the ways to have an obsession:

    6 survivor perks

    9 killer perks

    The Wedding Ring key add-on

The Black Box (Freddy) and Judith's Journal (Myers)

I know out of the killer perks, Nemesis doesn't create one upon game start, but if the killer gets stunned, there is now an obsession in the game. I think For the People has a similar mechanic..? Forgot, I know it changes the obsession to you when you use it but I think it also doesn't create an obsession at the start of the match.. might be wrong, been a while since I used that one.

  • @BubbaDredge said:

Best part: now it will get used to stop tunneling instead of just for being an #########.

    Worst part: all the crying

Twist: I never cared. When I got an aggressive DS, I just took it as an invitation to tunnel.

Pretty much feel the same about people using it aggressively. If they do it on purpose and they were the ones to come to me, I'll eat the DS then tunnel them out of the game. If I got DS'd by someone I didnt even remember was the last person unhooked, and they weren't looking for me and actually tried to get away from me, I'd let them go.

I’m dying rn lol. I believe that w every ounce. Killers really said “you can I copy you”

Haha glad you liked it ;p

I was tempted to say Claudette and Bubba were relatives, but I felt the insidious thing was better ;p

  • @DuskMascato said:

I agrée that it’s either a hit or miss but 99% of the time the suck! They either throw or do nothing but sh*t on you. Be prepared when you see a Claudette. Seriously, they are worse than Bubba 😭.

Didn't you know Claudettes INVENTED the perk "Insidious" and killers watched her blending around and stole the idea from her? True story!

  • I don't run it when I play survivor.

When I play killer, I usually don't mind it. Can be annoying sometimes, but once you know someone has it, just wait an extra second longer for them to use it and then go for the down. If you have the memory of a gold fish and can't remember who used it 5 times against you in the game already, well that's not my problem. And heck, if you're against a David, chances are he has it, so any first chase against any David, I usually wait a bit longer before going for the down just to double check. (and sometimes against other survivors too but honestly not all that many people run it in the first place for me to do that each time anyway)

Right?! Am I missing something? What do they gain from pointing you out or the other numerous useless things they do?!

Some people's version of "having fun" is closer to "ruining everyone else's fun"

  • @sharkster13 said:

It shouldn't activate the 2nd or 3rd time. It says within 5 seconds of when the perk gets activated. Unless they ment something else for which the text is totally misleading.

Might have understood.. but yeah most people suggest doing it twice, probably for the reason I do it 3 times, to ensure you finish the first one's animation before you get on your way. I did it 3 times just to be on the safe side of things haha

  • Point at the killer 3 times in a row each time premonition activates. Just to be sure it's not badly worded and needs you to point twice after one premonition. And the third pointing is to ensure the second one finished (since you cant start a new pointing action until the one before ends) got it on my second try after reading those suggestions on the Discussions forums and it worked.

  • So from what I saw in the Discussion section of the forums..

You need to let the animation fully play. One way to know it's done is to mash the pointing button again, you won't be able to until the first one is done.

And it might require you to point at the killer twice in a row.. who knows, with those badly worded challenges

So the way I did it I just pointed at the killer 3 times each time premonition went off, the third time just to be sure the second had finished.. and I ended up getting it.

I thought I was the only one that loved the third seal hahaha. It’s sooooo good when it lasts. I had a gawd spawn on haddonfield once that I’ll never forget because it seemed so obvious but it was tucked away just enough by a lone bush near the sidewalk and I had never actually seen a spawn there so they probably hadn’t either lol.

Yeah no one ever runs that perk, but lots of survivors have at least one aura reading perk in their build.. I know it really screws me over when I encounter one of the few weirdos running that perk and end up blind (I don't care as much if I'm not using aura reading builds, I just try to pay closer attention to the hook notification when someone gets put up) only thing I don't like about having it on Pig is I have to uncrouch to m1 them to apply blindness, the dash attack doesn't work for that.

And yeah sometimes the super hard to find spawns are the ones that seem so obvious once you found it!

  • @Starr43 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2065655#Comment_2065655

True. I was tunnel focused on how insanely useful it was because I had lucky totem spawns. Not every map is a window city like the pit too and totems can definitely pop almost immediately.

From my Wraith tester build it was literally carrying while it was active.

Oh yeah some totem spawn points are super strong.. I make sure to check where they ended up being near the end of the match when it lasts that long, to remember looking there when I'm survivor and can't find a totem on that map haha

Not all perks (or killers, for that matter) are good on every map though.. it's like saying Scratched Mirror is bad only because you got sent to Shelter Woods instead of an indoors map.

But yeah it's so fun when a Hex lasts long enough to make a difference. I love my Third Seal on Pig, and when it gets people into struggle on first hook, or even dead, because the others weren't paying attention and don't know where they were hooked, it makes me happy.

  • @JacksonWise said:

I just did the challenge by following the advice in this forum (thanks everyone!). Made sure to point twice in a row and let the full animation play out each time. I also ran Object which probably makes it a lot easier.

    Same.

I actually pointed three times in a row (third time to make sure second pointing motion was fully complete) and did it a few times during the match also to be sure it wasn't "point once after every premonition, twice during the match" since that's how it's written.. but better safe than sorry and yeah I got my points so yay

  • @_HN_ said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2065625#Comment_2065625

Well... yeah, but on the other hand you are giving the survivor team a free pass for that same amount of time.

Oh, if they pull that kind of bullshit on purpose, I'll just do what they say they need the perk for: tunnel their asses out of the game. If they're not dicks to me I'll try to go for different targets. But if they pull that kind of bullshit, you can be sure I'll do everything I can to get rid of them, and they have no room to complain about it because they did it on purpose.

  • If it wasn't a Hex, i'd say yes, limit it to one window at a time (or one per survivor)

But it's a Hex and can either last 5 seconds or the entire match. Curses should be strong, if Crowd Control is just a survivor-activated Bamboozle, then what's the point?

I haven't seen it used against me or used it against survivors yet so I can't really comment on how strong it actually is.. but I feel like it's a good way to kill off some loops that survivors like to abuse, and I'm all for that.

I dont know man, I got hit by a 50+ second DS just a couple of hours ago. And I faced the usual "no counterplay jump in locker" ones too.

So yeah, not much have changed outside of a VERY small amount of outliers.

The good news with that rehash of that old overused tactic is.. they weren't working on objective for those 50 seconds.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2065552#Comment_2065552

Honestly I dont think it should be a perk It would probley end up weak. I just think the standard time to stop regression should be 4 times a long as the kick is because you know its 1 v 4.

True. Heck, making it a flat 5 seconds would be good, no need to make it take forever but long enough to make it be an actual task other than a simple tap.

It would screw Pop players over a bit though.. so many times have I popped the same generator a few times in a row because they insisted on tapping it on their way to the hook. (but those aren't that frequent, once you know they have pop, don't touch a regressing generator if you don't intend on working on it long enough to make up for the 25% regression)

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Well tapping a gen shouldn't stop regression. You should be made to stick it for like 5-10 seconds to stop it base.

That's a new killer perk idea if I've seen one.

"after kicking a generator, it will automatically regress again if a survivor doesn't work on it for x/y/z seconds before leaving it"

  • @Brokenbones said:

Seeing someone recently unhooked and still injured on a gen is a nice bit of peace of mind

I'm not saying go out of your way to tunnel, but if you need to in order to win a close match then you have that peace of mind to go "okay, I can get this guy out and hopefully win from there"

Yeah exactly. You priorize gens over your health? I'll priorize hooks over going for a different target.

Cat Block-Addon (snares inflict bleeding for 60s) for Freddy is another way. You can get it even faster that way.

True. There's quite a few ways to get it done, other than the way they want us to do it. If anyone ever manages to pull it off using only Blood Echo as their source of hemorrhage, they'll have my utmost respect

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

Good so far, although the amount of games that have no obsession is concerning.

It really shows how much that perk was used in nearly every match had one and you'd be surprised each time there wasn't one because it happened so rarely.

  • Totally enjoying it.

If I see someone wounded working on a generator, they're fair game.

If two wounded people heal each other, then I show up and they're both at full health, I know they're both fair game, I don't have to try to remember who got unhooked in the past minute.

The people who abused the perk (and who are the reason it got changed) are still going to run at the killer and jump into lockers to get grabbed on purpose.. I'll happily oblige, eat the DS, then tunnel them out of the game. You want to be a dick, I can be one too!

  • @Harold_Shipman said:

it cant be completed anyway, did ass it asked like 5 times in a match and it just ignored it. Just avoid it.

I saw someone mention it's just badly worded and you have to point twice in a row at the killer after premonition activates.. tempted to try it, but at the same time, tempted to just work on other challenges until they fix it.

  • It's probably been said in the 4 pages but...

Someone else unhooked you, let THEM do the tapping either before or after unhooking you. There you go, your DS will still be active.

  • wait.. you have to point twice after it goes off once? not pointing in two different occasions?

the description for it really should be worded better if you need to point twice in a row.

  • @Xzan said:

Sloppy Butcher will do the trick for the Ripple Challenge.

From what I've been seeing you have to let the point animation fully play out to count. Moving and canceling it won't let it count towards progress

Pretty sure I've let the animation fully play out.. heck the game I tried it in ended up being a farming match, pointed at the killer many times to be sure it registered

  • Yeah I just tried it, didnt work for me either.. Wish I had known about it before :/ Ah well at least it's a super easy one to do.. if they get it working, that is.

  • Well, I got it on first try on the Pale Rose map.. not that many vaults or pallets on that one, and I honestly didn't do too well so I have a feeling it requires you to be within 24 meters of anything.. so basically "play the game and hit 10 people"

Might be wrong and been close enough to stuff for it to count each time but.. yeah I doubt it.

Why not make it to reduce the endgame instead,....

like making that the Entity kill survivors 10 seconds/token sooner then the endgame collapse for the survivor in the dreamworld, and instead of the entity it would be a giant freddy claw impalling from below.

that would be neat, and counterable, forcing people to wake themselve out, but if put back into the dreamworld within that 10seconds/token, the entity would still kill them on the spot.

Those killed by that perk should as being mori by freddy, not entity's kill tho.

With that new current perk the extension on the gate opening make no sense.

but that suggested version would be even worst with Hex: Noed.

Problem with part of your suggestion is that, while it's a Freddy perk, everyone can use it. So the references to the dreamworld and freddy's hand coming out of the ground would make no sense if you used it on anyone else.

Ya I use the Puddings and steamers too also any green huntings and brutalities so I can stockpile enough to take them at least to 15 after the prestige. If I don't have enough I will buy a perk from the shrine to get BP's from it as I have all the perks and don't need shards for outfits because i own all the outfits well all the good ones anyhow.

Mostly using the shards for the unlicensed chapters since I have so many of them now, but I do buy the first time perks in the shrine since they're worth more points of you look at the ratio vs regular perks. I try to farm as many points as I can before prestige.. Around a million gets you close to 37-38, gives a nice boost and chance for good perks to show up in there (though honestly there's been many times where nothing I want was in there but its fine it forces me to use a different build)

I made an exception for Nurse but other than that i only use the killers that get BBQ. I use rift/dailies/P3 50's to help level the others to get bbq instead of playing without. Got BBQ on Legion last night so I'll be able to take him his last run through now there a fun one to use. Nurse has become one of my fav's though seems like overnight but it's really been like a week in a half. Went from rank 2 down to 6 with her getting bullied and slapped around but the tide is starting to shift I have climbed back into red ranks with her taking no prisoners excited to keep getting more practice. Still waiting for Surge and Shadowborn/Monitor tho @GoodBoyKaru. Really wanted to try the surge recommendation and still have plenty of completely blind moments coming out of blinks.

Yeah it's a good bonus to have to level up for sure.. I mostly use up the streamers and puddings before prestige, whether I have bbq or not,. I still have a bunch of anniversary cakes on a few killers to use to help with the grind as well if I'm out of good bloodpoints offerings on the killer I'm leveling.

Nurse is pretty fun to play, learning curve is up there, so you definitely get a lot of matches where you hardly connect any hits, but once you're used to the blink muscle memory, she's great

1: I mentioned the survivor that was chosen for you is guaranteed to have their first perk that comes with them. (Eg. Laurie will always get 1 of 3 of her unique perks.) Almost like makes them feel more unique due to the no duplicate perks rule for the survivor teams.

2: All perks and characters are unlocked and at level 3 to prevent unfairness among newer and older players, it can feature dlc perks that the player doesn’t even own.

3: This gamemode is designed to throw in chaoticness, encourages players to try different killers and different perk sets. Even when losing the triple bp makes up for it.

Yeah see, the part where your idea fails is where you say everything is included, even things you don't own. They'll never go along with that. But heck if you want to play that mode you can do it in kill your friends, you have access to everything except the characters you didn't buy (but their perks are available) and run randomizers for the builds, just need to trust people not to cheat.

  • @chargernick85 said:

Every killer I have BBQ on I get there build ready and say to myself "would be better if I could swap BBQ with this or that" the grind on my killers is close to complete but not quite and playing a game without BBQ feels a waste if your grind is not done. My grind is all killers P3 lvl 50 and I'm close and personally can't wait to take BBQ out of all my build because all my killers will have a stronger perk/build for it.

Yeah I'm mostly using it for the points, but the aura reading is also nice to have. But there's a few killers I'll definitely switch it out for once I'm done leveling. Only have 5 killers left to max out, and the ones I'm currently leveling mostly don't have bbq and I'm still doing fine enough so I might be able to do without on some of them for sure

  • Oh I'm totally not ignoring that part, hence why I pointed out that you were aware your solution was unbalanced.

And, balance, as you probably already know, despite your unbalanced suggestion, is what they're trying to do with most updates, to make things not too strong for one side or the other. So yeah, if you add this much unbalance in favor of survivors, they need to add old ebony mori and instadowns as basekit for killers, to tip the unbalance on their side a bit too, cause you know.. it wouldn't be fair if survivors were the only ones with an unbalanced advantage.

Seriously, making suggestions you know are overpowered and unbalanced, and being serious about it.. I've seen it all

  • What's with people making those kind of stupid suggestions all the time?

But anyway, to answer your post... It's one thing to know if people are grouped together or not, and another to give the killer bonus stats because in your mind, grouped survivors are better than solo ones. I play with friends sometimes and sometimes by myself.. And let me tell you that just because we're a group of friends definitely doesn't make us any better at surviving.

  • Pretty sure the patchnotes of the live version mentionned the changes and something about the map being too dark. Yes, it makes no sense for them to want bright maps in an horror/survival game, but that's the reason I recall them using to justify those changes. (I would have to look it up to be sure but it's 11:20pm here and I can't be bothered)

  • I like the idea.

My only problem with this is.. Survivors are just reskins of one another, playing as a different one won't matter.

Playing as a random killer might be a problem for some. Not everyone is at ease with every killer. But then again.. I guess it's no worse than leveling up a new killer and using up whatever the entity decides to give you in the bloodweb. I've been leveling a few different killers lately and I sure ain't getting the perks I wish I were, so I make do with what I have, and honestly, I enjoyed using some of the perks I got forced to use cause the rest sucked. (And if all else fails, just play the killer as an m1 killer and ignore the power completely, I know that's what I do on killers I just cant get the power to work right.. or I overuse it to get used to how it works, and dont care if I win or lose)

One question though.. The random perks would be picked from what you have unlocked on the random character you get assigned? Or out of the entire pool of perks available for you in the web even if you didn't unlock them on the random character you end up getting?

  • @RichiNM said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1985699#Comment_1985699

Yeah, that definetely could be a problem... I´m going to think about a way to avoid that ^^

Edit: I have thought that maybe the perk can only work if the killer hasn´t been stuned in the last 3 seconds, in order to avoid the stun abuse. If the killer gets stunned, and you inmmediately try to use this perk, it is not going to work.

People would just time it to abuse it anyway.

And people would just loop the killer to the shack (or any other tile with a window) and abuse the system to stun the killer and run off, without the need for pallets to do it.

A big no for me. The killer is the one who's supposed to attack the survivors, not the other way around.

This if you have this much trouble countering BBQ then use distortion to bail you out the 3 times you don't make it to a locker.

That, and Distortion can tell you if the killer even has it at all the first time he hooks someone. Not losing a stack? He doesn't have it, don't have to hide in lockers each time someone gets hooked.

But then you have to look out for Discordance, Surveillance, Bitter Murmur, Thrilling Tremors and Hangman's Trick (and a bunch of other tracking perks I won't bother naming) Better nerf these as well, just to be sure he doesn't get found if someone else gets downed first, since that's so unfair that someone else losing a chase would lead to him getting found, after all.

  • Oh, so you're aware your solution is unbalanced, that's a start. So your idea is to ######### up killers over by giving survivors abilities that would normally require other survivors to do, to allow them to genrush even more and ######### up the already ######### up balance even more.

    Entitled survivor main is entitled.

Moving on, nothing worthwhile to see here.

If a survivor wants to be a waste of space they will be one and there's nothing anyone else can do about it. Plus, the build you set up doesn't block auras from stuff like Bitter Murmur or BBQ and a few others.

It will just disable the killer's power when it comes to locating survivors on Legion and Twins. Which sounds bad, but it already disables doctor in it's current state.

And if it would still become an issue then match timers might be a good follow up suggestion.

Bitter Murmur won't be an issue because they won't be working on generators, and neither will barbecue because they'll find a locker to hide into, DUH

Was just saying, if they give that perk a boost, that's the kind of people who'll use it the most "ohh a perk that makes the killer find me even less, totally using that!"

Calm spirit is a great stealth perk at any rank. It's golden against a doctor as it disables his static blast as he can't find you, also counters infectious fright if you want to be nearby for unhooking. It's great at what it does and killer instinct is an issue for any stealthy player since your location gets shown and you have no say in the matter since no perks works against it and it triggers off of any power hits.

Crouching while having calm spirit equipped could counter killer instinct alternatively. Lowers your mobility in return for not showing up on killer instinct which is only on 2 killers so far so it's not exactly the new META must have build. Plus if you get caught off guard, the first pulse will happen so unless you're gonna crouch walk the entire match, there's still a good chance of getting shown on KI.

I can already imagine people running that + Iron Will + Urban Evasion + Self Care and just urban evading across the map not to get found, and being totally useless to the rest of their team.

But yeah, it would help counter a few more killers than the current Calm Spirit does (so if it helps counter 4-5 killers total, I mean that's nearly a quarter of them, so that's not half bad, even if they're not the most popular ones)

  • We'll get used to the new thing after a few days, like we did with every other change we didn't like at first.

My main issue with the new HUD is the fact they used colors for the survivors pictures and the wounded status is just a lighting effect around it, it's a bit hard to tell who's wounded or not, as you mentioned in your original post. I'd just make them black and white and be done with it. Or heck, a generic image like we're used to, the player's name, and underneath it, in a smaller font, the character's name, so we know at a quick glance who's who.

  • I like the idea, I mean as you said, no perks interact with killer instinct as of yet, and Calm Spirit is already such a niche perk, why not give it a little boost with that extra feature rather than make it an entirely new perk.

1 … 12 13 14 15 16 … 34
