  • I would leave the unhooks and protection hits.. but make it so every full health state healed also gives a stack. And yeah also gens done. Or the equivalent of 1 full gen worked on or something, just in case you're not the one finishing it.

(but since you can get lots of heals and gens, I'd change it from 4 stacks max to like 8 or 10, and each stack could give less %)

I do enjoy the faster recovery from dying, it's quite useful when you're in a tight spot

Wow that's a very good question. Because if you get grabbed during the animation I believe your decisive strike is still available. But I don't know we definitely need confirmation

I mean it's easy to test if you have 3 people in kill your friends, rather than testing it in an actual match.. I mostly care for the killer side of things, if someone tries to pull this ######### in my face, rather than if I can do it in theirs when I play survivor cause I'm not a DS user and I prefer going for safer unhooks than doing it in their face (unless I really have to)

    Looking at my proposal...

    • Make is so hook progression stops while a killer is not in a chase and is within 32 meters of the hook, except for end game collapse. That keeps survivors from abusing it and it forces Killers to leave the hook and gives the hooked survivor a chance.

What exactly is bad about this change? You yourself said that Killers who camp is lazy. And survivors who get camped literally don't get to play the game. No other game I know of lets you literally stop someone else from playing it. However camping does exactly that, it stops someone from playing the game. Do you not think this is a serious design flaw in the game, the fact that one player can stop another player from playing the game? Why should it not be fixed?

***And I'm not saying this is the fix to use, there's could definitely be a better fix.

The biggest problem I have with that is the 32 meters part. "While the killer is still in the match" while you're at it? No more hooking people in the basement in that corn map with the shack in the middle, cause 32 meters from there is nearly mapwide. Ah well!

(also the fact that it doesn't prevent people from stealthing around while the killer knows they're there, not in a chase, but they saw scratchmark and crows flying so they know someone's around. literally no reason to leave the hook)

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2068311#Comment_2068311

Likely it's "camping" as perceived by the survivor then. That is to say the killers only still there because another survivor is looping them round the hook. Killer's not going to be able to get far enough before they're unhooked in that scenario, so may as well take the bait and down them while they can.

Or they're just idiots who don't know how perks work.

Some of them are idiots, some just want to secure kills even if no one is even around, with 5 generators left.. who knows how they think? But if I get camped on the very first hook of the game with no one in sight to give reasons to the killer to stay, I might just suicide and move on. Though I'll wait a bit to at least go into struggle first, and unless someone's right there, screw that I'm out.

But yeah it's a minority of the games

  • @_HN_ said:

Again, nothing wrong with playing the game in a way you find more enjoyable (and AGAIN as long as it's not just trolling the game like some people like to do), but just because you enjoy a suboptimal way more doesn't mean you are playing the game right.

And you need to get out of that mentality that "you tunnel to make things easier for you", that's not the case you are just solving the problem logically. Nobody would say a survivor going for a gen 90% done is just "making things easier for him", he is just playing the game in the most logical and efficient way.

Nah, I don't mind the occasional farming game, or letting a survivor away for a reason or another, but in general I do try to kill them all.

Part of why I try to go for different people was to avoid getting hit by DS though. So now if I find two people working on a generator and one of them is wounded.. I might just go for the easy target 'cause they're fair game now.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2068275#Comment_2068275

Yeah its a minor Haste after 2 tokens, but it's a Hex due to how powerful the 3rd and 5th tokens are, so it gets cleansed.

This would be a more substantial speed boost, and just a speed boost, that can't be cleansed. So you'd have to leave the hook ASAP to make the most of it, and you'd want to. Could even tie in a BP bonus to it like BBQ.

Thing is though.. even with a perk that gave you a speed boost, some people would still camp while using it. I've seen Devour Hope and Make Your Choice campers.. makes no sense to camp using these two perks that require you to be away, but here we are,

EDIT: not saying the speed perk is a bad idea, just saying it won't prevent "real" campers from camping

  • @Pos3idon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2068262#Comment_2068262

no, still needs to be fixed. Killers that camp are scum.

Sure. They can fix it in 4-5 years, it'll give them enough time to analyze the data, like they did with DS, right? See how survivors not using DS aggressively anymore affects the facecamping.

Seriously, it annoys me to get tunneled/camped when I play survivor, but it's a minority of the games. They don't need to add more crutch mechanics to give survivors even more chances of winning.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2068251#Comment_2068251

This again? How many times do people need to tell you this is wrong?

They tried it, it was abused by survivors, they vowed never to try it again.

Camping is sometimes required, and sometimes a valid tactic, especially during EGC.

What they need is more killer perks that incentivise leaving the hook. A speed boost that triggers for 20s after hooking a survivor, a Ruin-like regression perk that only works when you're x meters away from the hook, etc.

Doesn't Devour Hope give a speed boost after hooks? After the first attack or two, I forgot.. It's not the main reason people use it anyway so I forgot

  • @_HN_ said:

Aight I can get that, but you must understand that you aren't really "playing the game" you are just having having fun your way.

Nothing wrong with that (unless you are just torlling the game), but you can't compare it to people actually trying to play by the rules and get the win condition defined by the game rules at the end.

I chase people and hook them, how is that not playing by the rules? Just because I don't tunnel people off hook to make it easier on me in the long run doesn't mean I play the game wrong. I can play sweaty if I have dailies or challenges that require me to, but it's not as enjoyable to me.

  • @Munqaxus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/238923/i-do-feel-like-theres-been-an-increase-in-tunneling-and-camping

With the DS nerf, it's time for a fix to camping. DS was a bandaid fix for a much bigger problem and the Developers are going to see they need to do something to fix camping. (Tunneling is caused by the ability to camp or soft camp). Camping is toxic and isn't needed as seen by content creators, over and over again.

What the Developers hopefully will do is make is so hook progression stops while a killer is not in a chase and is within 32 meters of the hook, except for end game collapse. That keeps survivors from abusing it and it forces Killers to leave the hook and gives the hooked survivor a chance.

How about no? There's already perks to stop hook progression, use them.

I dont want to throw any assumption you way, but I guess you aren't very high rank as killer then, right?

Because past the point where you face potatoes that run around like chicken with their head cut off you WONT have ANY fun if you keep just playing by the survivor rule book, because they, on the other hand, wont give a single thought about what YOUR fun may be.

And they SHOULDN'T, because it's a competitive assymetrical game where 2 team face eachoters and try to archive conflicting objectives.

    "Just outplay them"

Yeah... you are definitely not red.

I'm hovering around rank 4-5 lately.

Just because I don't play to win and give survivors fair chances when I can (I mean if I find the unhooked guy by themselves, sorry you're going back, but if there's others around I'll go for a different target)

Don't need to win every game to have fun,you know. Sure, it's nice killing everyone, but as long as I'm enjoying myself and getting good chases I couldn't care less if they all survive or not. To each their own ways of playing/enjoying the game.

  • @Pos3idon said:

lmfao lets act as if Killers don't have perks that slow down gens

They do, but let's act as if the killer wasn't just one player trying to defend 7 generators from 4 other players.

  • Question about unhooks deactivating DS.. Does it deactivate only after the action is completed, or as soon as they touch the guy on hook? Asking to know if I should wait for them to finish unhooking in my face before downing them or if they're fair game as soon as they touch the hooked survivor. I would assume it's as soon as, like other actions, but since I don't use DS I can't be bothered to test it out myself

  • @OmegaXII said:

Those who stop using DS are those who abuse 60s immunity.

The power in anti-tunnel is not touched. A huge drop of usage basically means people are not using it as anti-tunnel in the first place

Yup, exactly. They used it to aggressively so stupid things right in the killers face without facing consequences. Now they can't anymore (or, they can, but it's much riskier)

You'll see much less suicide rescue missions if the rescuers' DS isn't active anymore because they worked on objectives.

"Crouch and uncrouch completely 5 times within 10 seconds of the perk Distortion losing a token.

    Do this 3 times.

Complete this challenge in a single trial."

Or after stunning the killer ;p

I mean, the premonition one makes sense though.. It's too point where the killer is to potentially nearby survivors, but everyone I've seen so it just did it randomly out in the open with no one else around. Had a wraith game where I found someone (while cloaked) by themselves pointing at where I was coming from haha

But then again lots of challenges make you play in ways you normally wouldn't.. And that's what I like about it, gives me something different to try

  • I'm sure taking that crutch away will bring more killer players to the game because it'll make the experience better for them. Sadly it'll also make killer lobbies slower, but I don't mind if it means I enjoy my games more.

  • Ok so I played a few more games before bedtime and yeah.. I got keys in half of them (didn't get to use a single one though, either I escaped through the gate or died)

Aaaand I stopped afte that very stereotypical survivor main sentence. Sorry honey, killer main dont need to "justify theseslves" for playing the right way, just like they never asked the survivors to "justify thesemves" for genrushing. GTFO with that missplaced morale grandstanding, it's pathetic and extremely out of place.

DUDE! I think ALL killers can relate to that!

While I can get being a showoff when you are actually good, it's just mindblowing how often you get "that bushclodette" or "locker dwight", or just the VERY OBVIOUS weak link of the team that you took into pity and just decided he was so harmless that you'll let it go for now, suddenly start talking ######### BIG TIME in post game chat!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2067785#Comment_2067785

SURE, this is exactly what I just said.

Watch out with all that strawmaning tho, you may get a straw in your eye.

Only responding to the list where you quoted me.

Because I play both sides and I hate being targeted over and over by the killer while they ignore everyone else nearby. I like having fun while I play, it's a game it's meant to be fun, and I rather make it a fun experience for survivors who play against me as well. You don't have to be a tryhard to win games. Just outplay them.

  • Main campers I've seen since the update were Tricksters, and let's be honest, it's the best way to secure kills until they make him less of an entertainer and more a killer. Throwing knives is fine and but if it takes a killer longer than Legion to down people, there's something wrong with its design.

    Maybe because it's hilarious ?

I detail why their position is wrong and stupid and they need to stop, he replies with "oh yeah? you got all that from that post? Well let me quadruple down and do EXACTLY what you just describe and pretend you were wrong all along".

That's the thing, there's no debate here. People like him are certain they are right and can't be reasoned with since they only talk about feeling while I'm over here talking about facts. He literally think that you should never go after someone that got unhooked even if you just stumbled upon them, because you see.... he doesn't like that.

Welp, though luck love, doing stuff you survivor dont like is litterally the job of the killer and whining aobut it just show that you don't understand the point of the game.

If I find a wounded survivor with a healthy one nearby I'll try to go for the healthy one. But if I stumble upon the wounded one and no one else is around.. you're going down.

And honestly, I don't get mad at the killer if I get found and no one else is around while I'm wounded.. I get a bit pissed but heh it's the game

I pointed my camera, which is tied with my character's head's movement, and which also is the same mechanic used to trigger Premonition. I never dreamed they meant my torso. What a stupid challenge lol

It actually means the finger.. Literally the pointing emote, in the killer's direction :)

And you have to let the emote fully play out (so a way to make sure it's done is to do it twice in a row, second emote won't start if the first one isn't done yet, lots of people have been screwed over because of that little detail)

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2065411#Comment_2065411

Wait, so you have to point your actual character model in the direction of the killer within five seconds of premonition going off? That isn't what I took it to mean, which is probably exactly why I haven't been able to get it either lol

Yes you have to point at the killer with your character.. Have you been pointing at your monitor all this time? No wonder it didn't work :p

  • @Volcz said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2065416#Comment_2065416

This. I went through 6+ matches where I should have gotten it way sooner. Figured something was wrong with it. But someone also mentioned that you can't cancel the animation of the pointing emote. Definitely should be worded better/

The thing is.. the animation seems to end before it actually does.. some final shoulder readjustments at the last second is all it took for me to think it was done, when in fact it wasn't. The game where I failed to get it, I probably started moving again as soon as the arm went down, thinking it was done, when the animation was still going.

  • Found a key in my last match.. let's see if I find another one this time haha

    I KNOW RIGHT?!

It's always pretty funny to hear some survivor main pretending they aren't playing the game to make the killer as miserable as possible, especially in higher rank.

Honestly.. I usually hover around rank 3-4 on both sides lately, and it's not because I'm good.. I'm better at killer than survivor, but you end up pipping more than depipping if you play often enough.. I just want to have a good time, I see no reason to bully either the survivors I'm trying to kill or the killer trying to catch me.

  • @Kellie said:

So you're saying that behavior is okay? I know survivors tend to be more toxic than killers but that doesn't excuse someone's toxic behavior over a game like DBD which is a mess right now.

Oh I'm not saying it's ok. I just find it ironic that survivor mains who thrive on making killers' lives miserable are now complaining about getting their due.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2066719#Comment_2066719

You’re not even meant to do that. You’re meant to get them wasting time healing, or catch them out injured later on.

Hit n Run. Keeping finding other survivors

Yeah that's probably where I go wrong. I prefer commiting to the chase rather than pretend to go elsewhere and come back at them from a different angle. Might need to try that tactic next time I play Wraith

  • It's a change from nearly 5 years of disgusting survivor behavior, wouldn't you agree?

  • I've seen it said in a few of those DS whining threads.. No obsession = the killer knows no one brought DS.. I know I never bring it and I don't care if there's no obsession in the match.. Even with an obsession I get tunneled sometimes, but more often than not the killers I've been getting lately played fair.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2066690#Comment_2066690

That still doesn’t change the fact that it was never intended to be a chase tool.

Also a Wraith not using LoS blockers on approach to suspected whereabouts of survivors is just playing dumb. I’ve managed plenty of surprise hits since yesterday, some from survivors running straight into me because I used LoS blockers before uncloaking.

Well to be fair I don't play Wraith often enough to be good at him.. and today I was mostly using the extra speed to check the map for Glyphs for my challenge and didn't bother turning sideways when approaching generators to not scare the Spine Chill users away ;p

I do enjoy the fastest movement speed to travel between places though.. but yeah you can't cloak and chase people and uncloak to get a hit on them anymore. After you've hit them once, you're better off staying uncloaked if you intend on chasing them down.

  • @MrPenguin said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2066530#Comment_2066530

You tap a gen at 0, then another survivor works on it, then the killer comes back for a pop proc or just to regress it, that 1% you did lets them pop the gen before you down them. That progress still matters.

Facts are facts, 1% progression is still progression. Whether they escaped or not doesn't matter. That 1 second could be an adrenaline proc, that 1 second is still progress, that "tap" is still progress.

What's absurd is when you choose to lose your DS and then you complain that you lost it. Just don't touch the gen. What's absurd is trying to say "its not considered progression" when it is literally progression.

Too lazy to do it, but someone should make a meme of a wounded survivor working on a generator with the killer coming for them, and put the caption "This is not objective progression", like in that "This is not a pipe" painting.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2066600#Comment_2066600

How is moving much faster cloaked at base bad?!

The only thing that can’t be done anymore is used mid chase. The changes very clearly emphasise hit n run/surprise tactics.

The super slow uncloaking makes you lose any cloaked chase progress you might have made.. He's still super easy to spot and with how slow he uncloaks now, even if you didn't see him approaching, you'll hear his pug-like grunts and see the air shimmering as he bings his bong, giving you time to skedaddle out of there.

  • @Astrian said:

This just facts. So many survivors were carried by DS and now they're getting exposed. The only people complaining about the DS nerf are these bad survivors.

And the ones who can't abuse the mechanics to bully the killers anymore. I sure don't mind these people anymore now.. If they save their DS for 60 seconds to bully me instead of doing objectives, that's 60 seconds of them being useful to their team gone down the drain.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2066656#Comment_2066656

Devs said keys are on the chopping block, lets wait to complain about them after they reveal the change. I do think they're taking their sweet time with it though. I hope they change it to where it only works for one survivor at the very least.

I would have it require a small activation time.. a few seconds, or hitting one or two skillchecks in a row or something. Preventing more than one survivor to escape through hatch would be bad for many reasons. Imagine everyone in the group needing to carry their own key to make it out at the end of the game for that achievement where the full group needs to get out the hatch. Or as a plan B escape when the gates are too close to one another and someone found a key.

I honestly don't think keys are that bad as they are right now.. I play against groups with keys and maps once in a while and honestly they often try too hard to find the hatch that they end up losing because of it.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2066647#Comment_2066647

It was a problem lol they raised it a few years ago (not too long after Legion IIRC) and it's frustrating. At least with plunderers theres the excuse they used a perk slot for it.

I don't know what game you're playing if survivors pull out keys that often against you without using Plunderer's.

With Plunderer's though, yeah I find keys all the time. One of the only reason I ever bring it, if I have a key challenge, I'll loot chests and use the key I find rather than bring one and have a big target on my back because of it.

  • @Sluzzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2066604#Comment_2066604

Game mechanics have no idea of the intentions of the killer. He is chasing someone and the perk is denying player choice to stop an objective from regressing even during a chase. That is horrendous.

This is very similiar to a person healing and the killer returns to look for the same person and tunnels. It is all still tunneling. Killer mains love the perk now because they can exploit it and tunnel. And, of course, inability to do the objective.

Oh yes.. When I get chased, I totally take the time to tap nearby generators to stop them from progressing and then complain when I get caught faster because of the stop.

Seriously if you really play that way, I can imagine why you need DS to survive. There's tutorials on YouTube to teach you how to be better at looping killers. And, just so you know, stopping to tap regressing generators mid-chase isn't one of the tactics in ANY of them.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Survivors pulled a key out on me earlier. None of them had a key.

They really should lower the chance of finding keys without plunderers while we wait for the key rework. At least thats what they should do if they genuinely care about nerfing keys and balance (since moris are now gone). I can't see that happening though.

Key find rate was never a problem before though.. so it's most likely some kind of bug, and not intended. (at least, I don't recall something about keys in the patchnotes)

Or even tapping the gen after hitting ds, when you've got an opportunity thanks to the stun and could reasonably get a tap off on your way to a better loop or teammate.

Pretty much. Honestly I'm kind of impressed he's kept that circle of bullshit rolling for over 6 hours now. A certain baiter has got some deep competition coming for the crown

6 hours?! Holy #########! And yeah that baiter just showed up to take the relay, apparently. I'm probably not going to bother responding to either of them anymore, I mean.. if it has lasted that long, no point trying to hammer some sense into them. Somehow, I think they never played a single match of killer, to think like this.

  • I found a pink key in the very first chest of a match earlier, without plunderer's.. I haven't found any others in the few hours I've been playing.. Maybe you just got good RNG, for once. Lucky you ;)

  • The game mechanics say it's not tunneling, if your DS deactivates, it's not a tunnel.

If you want to see how this particular strawman was filled, just go back a few pages, you can stop when he admitted it was just some BS he made up :)

    Enjoying your posts btw

Haha yeah not going to read this entire thread but I can imagine he's just repeating the same ######### over and over and ignoring every counterargument to his flawed arguments like he's been doing since I joined in.

Somehow I am not surprised, probably not the first time either, definitely won't be the last.

For someone who claims not to want to converse with me, you reply awfully fast.

I was going to say.. crazy how, for someone who doesn't want to interact with you, he took the time to respond that he didn't read your post, instead of, you know.. not reading it and going back to the discussions list

  • Also, I find it funny that in these insane scenarios, it ALWAYS has to be the guy that just got unhooked that taps the generator, never the one that did the unhooking, that would make too much sense for the guy without DS to tap it, to save the guy with DS his protection.

    @MrPenguin

I understand that my "tapping" argument is different from OP's but if you understand that, then you would also understand that tapping a gen for 1 second, while it was sitting at 0% (meaning not one soul worked on it) isn't considered in any way shape or form progression. That is absurd.

You may want to look at it from the pre-requisite lense of what "deactivates" DS, but facts are facts, I am pretty sure the team would have escaped without that survivor's 1 second touch on that gen.

If the gen was at 40% (sure) if the gen was at 50% (most definitely) people on here think 0% is actually progressing the objective. Which I just have to laugh at.

Why would you tap a 0% progressed generator right after being unhooked though? What's the flawed logic there? It's still a tap, it still gives a tiny tiny bit of progress. 1 second of progress is still 1/80th of a generator, which is 1.25% progression on that particular gen
