  • Favourite female survivor vocals: Elodie and Cheryl. Elodie sounds extremely pained, whilst whoever did Cheryl's did a near-perfect copy of her voice from Silent Hill 3.

Favourite male survivor vocals: Jake and Ash. Jake sounds the most authentic and Ash is actually quite funny, especially when he groans and you can hear those intonations as "F you!" when being carried.

Favourite killer vocals: Pyramid Head and Wraith. Pyramid Heads echoey grunts are chilling to me. The Wraith I like because when I first started getting into this game and read about the Entity torturing killers, I thought Philip had been crushed by it (the multiple bandages and what I originally thought was metal crushed on his face - the flatness of his face and the brown spikes originally thought was metal shreds), and imagined his gurgled sounds were from that, so it has a bigger impact for me.

Hatch itself is the bigger issue, not keys. "Oh, I'm the last survivor! Guess I get out for free!" It's so stupid. Could you imagine something like that in any other game? Keys are just a 2nd chance mechanic within an undeserved win mechanic. "I didn't do the gens but I press this button even after the killer has closed the hatch, and I escape!" Hatch grabbing returning would do wonders for this game. And for those saying the killer would just camp it... You know you can just finish the last gen instead, right? The killer's camping, so make use of that wasted time.

Completely agree. Maybe the tweak could be that the hatch only appears once all 5 gens are done, or if there is one remaining survivor. Other than that, keep it the same.

  • That's quite a gutsy statement from that survivor - to admit they are the equivalent of easy mode :D.

  • Is there a link to a Silent Hill dimension as well? When survivors are put into those cages, they sinks into the earth and appear in them. Are the survivors briefly being sent to that plain of existance?

  • The red aura of Bubba's foot on Ace makes Ace look like someone wearing a superhero mask - Deadpool or Deathstroke, or something similar!

  • I think we need to step away from the idea of people not liking the killer because homophobia or that "everyone" doesn't like the killer because it's male and not female. That's over-simplifying the issue. There are some out there who don't like the killer because of those reasons, but equally there are some who don't like it because of the design or power. It's dangerous to throw everyone into the same pot.

Personally, I like the chapter overall! The perks sound fun (especially Star Struck and Smash Hit!). The killer does seem fun to play - granted, not the strongest, but for me it's more about fun than winning. The story behind them is actually entertaining. The survivor is also different, being both a more self-centred character (as opposed to the altruistic nature of the others) and in my head canon that she is trans. Sure, I admit the killer isn't my cup of tea in appearance, but actually DBD needs the variety, and if this chapter attracts newer players because of its kpop origins then great! Plus, no matter what a killer looks like, no-one will be as annoying as DBD's own Scoiby villain: Ghost Face.

  • The Xenomorph is certainly my favourite pick. A stealth killer with longer reach with its tail, increased speed or even employing its acidic blood of hatchlings into the fight.

Walter Sullivan from "Silent Hill 4", with an abilitu that utilises multiple "ghosts" to perhaps weaken survivors, alert Walter of their whereabouts or even curse survivors into losing some control of their movements. Could have an interractive element where survivors could use those special swords to pin down ghosts.

The Driller Killer from "Slumber Party Massacre 4". Not sure what his power could be, but I just want his weapon and a rockabilly chase soundtrack!

And finally Jane Prentiss from "The Magnus Archives" podcast. She can utilise worms and maggots to hinder survivors movement or progress.

  • I'm not sure about extra regression for a kick, especially if the percentage is as small as 2%. At 5%, the basic gen stomp has the same impact as "Overcharge", except a guaranteed decrease every time.

If anything needs to change, it's not additional decreases to gen stomps. It may be better if it took maybe 1-2 seconds of the survivor working on the gen before regression stops. That way, it stops the lightning quick gen taps, but neither does it really have an impact on the survivor side.

It doesn't need any major change, other than to remove the quick tap and replace it with a second or two on the gen to halt regression.

  • I've actually wondered that myself recently! In one match I was playing as the killer: I picked up a survivor and another was immediately on me with a flashlight. My screen did the full-bling animation and I heard the new sound that is meant to signify being blinded, but once my vision cleared I was still holding that survivor.

Either there is a bug, or there is some sync issue which gives every indication to the killer that they've been blinded, but in actuality they haven't.

  • I don't believe there has ever been a male/female conjoined twin that's been recorded.

However, as food for thought, there was an exceptionally rare event whereby a pair of identical twins were different sexes due to an extremely unusual genetic happening. The link is below:

National Center for Biotechnology Information, U.S. National Library of Medicine 8600 Rockville Pike, Bethesda MD, 20894 USA

The idea for The Twins certainly doesn't bare any realism, but if something as unique as this occurs, theb who knows whether it's possible, given an extraordinary set of events.

  • Life's a series of compromises and regrets, intermingled with joys and successes. Unfortunately, the brain has an annoying compulsion to keep recalling negative life experiences, coming from an outdated "fight-or-flight" response.

It took time and is different to each person, but all thoughts and memories serve some meaning. Acknowledging them as they appear, then focusing on something else gradually weakens them.

    My condolences for your acquaintance.

  • In its current state, Dead By Daylight isn't scary in general because of the familiarity and unchanged formula they use. There are sometimes anxious moments or stealth attacks that may make you jump, but for me the same objectives makes it more a survival than a fearful experience. The known is less scary than the unknown.

In some way, it makes sense to have more "normalised" killers such as The Trickster. I guess for me someone dressed like a comic book character has zero scare-factor for me. It's not a complaint - actually, it's quite nice to have variety! It's just not scary to me. But I didn't get the feeling from BHVR that this chapter was aiming for scary.

  • Deathslinger with the bald-headed cosmetic put on. Just reminds me of some crazy old guy sitting on a rocking chair with gun in hand, talking to anyone who'd listen to his whacko tales of being abducted and how leprechauns are the illuminati.

  • It's understandable to feel as you do. There are too many insecure people about: people with "little-man syndrome" ready to big themselves up by belittling others because of their own weaknesses.

Do take a break, but try to remember you're not mentally weak but rather have had life experiences which others have not had, resulting in differing reactions to some others. There are also many people - even some of the harder-nosed types - who do hurt. It's very rare for someone to enjoy being picked on. You're actually probably stronger for admitting it!

But when you do decide to take a break, when you return perhaps (and you may already do this) just send positive messages. Even if they try to wind you up, make a joke out of it. It doesn't have to be self-depreciating or attacking. One guy sent me some crappy stuff after they lost to my Trapper and I simply replied "Love you too! xxx". In that case he actually warmed to me! Granted, that's rare. But it takes the sting out of it, I find.

Whatever you choose, remember you can be stronger than you think, and by deciding how you respond or act, inspite of the other person, is way more powerful than they could ever be. Best of luck! :)

  • Killers could be seen in tiers of difficulty. It's much more satisfying to do well with a killer you are less good at (or has a weaker power) than to win consistently with a powerful killer. In the variety is the opportunity to challenge yourself and have fun. For me, to use the same perks on the same killer day-in/ day-out would bore me to Hell. Others may like it, and that's their choice. Ultimately, for me it's less about whether a killer is good; moreso it's over how fun a killer is to play, or how I can make it more fun.

With enough practice, any killer has potential once truely mastered. Even then, there's more to learn as newer perks and styles arise.

  • No, it's absolutely within the rules. Those who say it's bannable will be the same people who find it annoying.

  • I have a feeling this killer will be one of those that a certain selection of people will slate until a Youtuber like not_Otzdarva or Scott Jund release one video showing how good he can be, by which time he'll suddenly become flavour of the month.

The guy has some decent perks, a unique look and a different style of play. Give them some time to actually learn him, rather than judge him for wearing a yellow coat, or something just as fickle).

  • As an all-in-one dlc, my dream one would be "Silent Hill: The Room", with Walter Sullivan as the killer, and 2 survivors in Henry Townsend and Eileen Galvin.

As a standalone survivor, I'd go for an obscure one in Jonathan Sims from "The Magnus Archives" - an individual touched by the Eye who has perks around all-seeing, all-knowing.

As a standalone killer (and a bit of fun), I'd go for the Driller Killer from "Slumber Party Massacre 2", if for nothing else other than that weapon and the possibility of chase music in the style of rockabilly.

  • Better than I thought, to be honest! Granted, I'm not a fan of the killer design, but I can see it growing on me.

However, the perks do add some fun game play. I've read quite a few people talk about No Way Out linked with Blood Warden and NOED, but I also think Starstruck mixed with Mad Grit and Agitation could become the DBD Pain Train!

  • If NOED needed any changes, at the very most you could make it activate so long as each survivor has been hooked once, so there's a condition. However, that would perhaps make some survivors just gen rush without concern for totems.

Really, from my experience it's been just an end-of-level boss perk. Nothing to be concerned about in the long run.

  • If they are near the hatch or almost finished with the exit gates I'll let them go (although I can be a little mean with the hatch and hover over it as if I'm gonna shut it, but never actually do). The exception would be if I needed to complete a challenge, but otherwise I don't need the 4k so no concern.

  • The YouTube videos online of the game seem okay, but looks quite rough around the edges (as expected in initial telease, so won't hold that against them). I'm uncertain about its potential longevity, based upon the narrow focus to a single game. If it had not focused on a game and instead zoomed in more on folklore in general, there would be more potential for expansion.

It's going to be quite some time before DBD would be at any risk from other challengers. A 4v1 game would have to come up with a more unique idea to make it properly competitive.

  • The DS nerf is so infintesimal that it would only be considered a nerf by someone who wanted to use it as a weapon. As a defensive response for those killers who just want to tunnel them for easy kills, the perk still remains very potent.

NOED is fine as it is. Half of the time, it doesn't even get a look-in anyway.

Besides, if I read correctly, DS doesn't deactivate when a survivor enters a locker, so there is a little bit of weaponising still available. For me, I won't notice a difference as a survivor. As a killer, it just means some smartarse won't be brazen enough to jump on a gen in front of me, believing they are as invincible as Mario with an invincibility star.

  • Although by far not my favourite killer, the potential for a deep movie about The Legion and Jeff feels very likely for me. The experiences of each member and Jeff's upbringings could make a great story that documents the various broken homes, experience of orphans and how different people cope with such upheaval. It would be as much a movie about different forms of abuse, as it would be focusing on the personalities involved. Done well, it could be quite moving actually!

  • It's a perk I've seen on many killers. Many times, the perk has never been needed, which for me immediately shows that it's not a perk used just by "bad killers". When it activates, I can probably count on 1 hand the amount of times more than 1 survivor was sacrificed, which is more a comment on how bad the survivors were. Sometimes, it never even triggers!

The latter option fits better because of this. Also, because a survivor's main objective is to do gens to escape. A killer's objective is to sacrifice the survivors before they escape. So the killer hasn't actually failed the objective until the survivors have escaped (& even then everyone has a different standard they adhere to in what they call a "win").

If you saw Freddy 4 you would think twice before associating Freddy with your pizza

Yup, you got a point there!

  • Pyramid Head is rather intimidating to play against, which I really like. It's nice to face killers who actually do make you anxious to face. Myers comes a close second though.

  • Yeah, you sound tough; picking on mudcrabs. However, bet you wouldn't feel so big when you face a mudcrab such as this!

  • There are some survivors who see it as a triumph. That they got under the skin of the killer. When I play killer I don't hit even the most laborious of teabaggers on the hook. Just continue on with the game at hand. There's not much worse than being ignored, especially if a survivor has done everything to wind you up.

as survivor it's one of the few parts of the game which gets me excited! It feels like an end-level boss

Thats how I used to feel about NOED and moris when I first started the game. Then as I played more and more I realized it was just some unwashed sweat lord sat in his basement camping people out until his NOED activated. It kind of ruined the end-level boss illusion for me.

That's a crapper for sure. Fortunately, I've not faced a NOED camper in a long time, so in my experience it still retains that element of fun! Also, I don't camp neither - it's the killer fun equivalent of doing gens :D

You would even know he is near you because of the noisy chainsaw he has.

And if you're ordering a gift as a surprise, just get him to put on Tinkerer!

  • There are many, which can be also illustrated by the Void and all those former survivors and killers who have no further purpose. It feels these specific group of players are perhaps the most significant.

It could also (although this is not canon) be that certain killers and survivors have identical special abilities, which might be supported by the legendary cosmetics (Lisa, Alessa, Cybil for survivor; the Minotaur and Krampus for killers). There's only a finite number of abilities, so it makes sense that some have identical powers.

  • He would! Kruger would be better delivering to those off-the-grid places, but Billy could have a beautiful life if he was made to feel wanted enough as a valued employee!

  • Whilst being the first to fall prey to NOED can feel extremely annoying, as survivor it's one of the few parts of the game which gets me excited! It feels like an end-level boss & I'll mostly hunt for that totem or attempt the save. More times than most I'll succeed at one of those. Even if I don't and fall foul to NOED .. well, I do not expect to survive every trial, and making mistakes is what makes me better!

As killer, it feels like that heel turn in wrestling. Like Orton's "RKO out of nowhere"! I randomize my setup everytime using a randomizer, so it sometimes appears in my setup and is admittedly fun!

Basically, as a 50/50 player I enjoy it regardless. I also don't see it as a second-chance perk. The only true second-chance perk I can think of which rewards bad play is Unrelenting (You missed, idiot! Here, have a quicker swing as a reward).

  • There are (apparently) multiple entries in development, although this has only come in the form of supposed outsourcing by Konami and Blooper Team saying they're working on an existing horror game series "from a very famous gaming producer". Also, with Silent Hill appearing as dlc for a couple of games recently (Dbd and Dark Deception), this could be a way of the series testing the water for interest.

However, what may be interesting is that Keiichiro Toyama - creator of Silent Hill - is working on a new horror game which looks very interesting, with the artwork mixing vibes from both Silent Hill and Siren (another of his creations). The link's below if you want a read:

  • I'm coping, although my wife's interest in "Escape to the Country" and various property shows is slowly eating away at my soul!! Hope you're well?

  • It feels to me as if "baby" is used predominently as a derrogatory term, but in a gentle, ribbing way rather than a more maliciously-intent action.

Of course, it's also important to note the context the word is placed within. Some cases may give "baby" a genuinely endearing meaning. Others will use it as a mocking term, linked with other insults to rub it in. The latter often comes from a place of inadequacy.

It's not something I do, but likewise there are much, much worse things to be called.

  • An issue is still persisting on Xbox too that closes the session. I might be wrong, but I thought the previous 4.5.1 patch was meant to fix it?

  • Reading this, it brought up ideas of solipsism (the belief that one's mind is the only thing that can be sure to exist, and everything experienced is all in the mind).

That makes it an extremely lonely existence. The Entity, were this theory to be real, would effectively be insane; creating partnerships, scenarios and characters, for which there is no narrative, other than what exists within a trial.

It's quite a frightening prospect! Certainly darker than the eldritch nightmare currently believed. Madness is a scary prospect for anyone to live with.

  • I do enjoy the new chapters, but the current format hasn't changed much for the longest time and a shake-up would be much appreciated.

  • #I like mine with a kiss!#

  • My least favourite maps are 'Shelter Woods' and 'Rotten Fields', on the basis that both maps are plain dull. They feel a little like when the realms were conceived the designers there was a set amount of maps they wanted for each, and ideas ran out one short. These 2 maps just feel uninspired.

My favourite maps are 'Ironworks of Misery' and 'Dead Dawg Saloon'. Both maps have plenty of room for different plays, feel large and varied, and I'd especially like to say the 'Dead Dawg Saloon' for me is the best designed map.

Also, a special mention for Midwich, which simultaniously ranks very high and very low for me: High in terms of the level of detail the designers went into, but low in terms that the design of the school doesn't translate well to this genre. I felt that the fairground may have been a better choice for a map, although I do understand the iconic status of Midwich within Silent Hill.

  • I am amazingly inconsistent. I'll have matches where as killer I'll play a stunning game against a SWF group, only to fail dismally against 4 solo players. As survivor, the same goes there too. Basically, I'm extremely random.

  • Have to admire their commitment to save everyone, no matter how hopeless it may be! :D

  • People need to be aware that people across t'interweb are human too, with feelings and rich lives with their own stories to tell. The word is "sonder". Also, a lot more empathy is required. People may disagree on things, but there's no need to act aggressive because of it.

I read the entire post, and you never explained why its brilliant.

Also, while you seem to be concerned about new players and a growth in the player base, i think it misses the point. So, my question stands.

Okay, so "brilliant" was a sarcastic response to it. As survivor it was too easy which is unhealthy for the game, especially at lower ranks for killers who are still learning the ropes. So, taking into account it was an illustration of the lop-sided effects of removing bloodlust at lower ranks especially, the conclusion of my post was removing bloodlust at this stage is not ideal.

  • This is possibly bait, but meh.

I'm not fully understanding what a "Sweatlord" or "Sweatlady" is. From your description, it seems to be someone who either a) gets the 4k or b) slugs before searching for the final survivor. Alternatively, as you said, for survivor it's doing the gens quickly.

It feels like there's a lot missing out from both descriptions. For example: A killer 4ks, but only used 1 perk; or a survivor gets an easy escape using Slippery Meat. Basically, is a "Sweatlord" someone who just wins? Because the description seems to just allude to that.

why do you think it was brilliant? Do you think a 100% survival rate is healthy for the game? I had the same experience as well. Last night, it was rare that one survivor got killed in a match.

Please read the entire post before responding to it.
