Unfortunately there is no update to give on cross progression at this time. Our previous communication on this still stands.

i would really appreciate transparency and clarity on these tests and ways to opt in and out. All of these changes without announcements and options lead to confusion and only serve to gaslight players.
AB testing is done without announcements and there's no way to opt in or out - they are done very randomly. You can find out more on AB testing here if you're interested: A/B testing - Wikipedia
It's certainly not "gaslighting".

Today's hotfix was for issues that were potentially exploitable and therefore required more urgent attention. The next patch is some time away and it was felt that these two issues demanded more urgent attention.

Yeah but that means they had the go ahead of the hotfix from sony, playstation AND nintendo in advance meaning there should at least have been more.
I'm afraid it does not mean that at all, this was not a planned hotfix
-
This should be resolved with the update today!

Unlike the patch notes for last week, today's does not list the fast vault differences between males and females as a known issue. Does this mean they are fixed?
no, they are in the PTB for testing.
This Hotfix is purely for the things listed as bug fixes.

PSN Service Status (playstation.com) this is looking like an issue on PS side as of right now, we will continue to monitor the issue, the team is aware of the situation.

Unless they tinker with Bubbs chainsaw where you can't fully use it this change does nothing against him, he can just power through it and double hit you when you are unhoking yourself
we have already considered that, and there will be something in the PTB for it.
To the topic. Once all generators are powered there's no real objective for the killer to go after, hence camping is more widely considered "acceptable" at this stage - trying to bait in other survivors etc. However, when there's still generators left - there's plenty for the killer to do in pressurising these generators.
The anti-facecamp mechanic is for those extreme cases where the killer is standing right next to you. It slows down or even stops if you're chasing another survivor in the area for example.
There's really no need to have this mechanic not work when there's only a couple of gens left, because the killer still has the objective to try to prevent those generators from being powered.

Once your account has been suspended due to abuse of our Support services, you cannot get this back.

I need more information on this one, how do you know the survivor is exhausted etc, do you have some video to go along with this?

I'm very much aware that lobby dodging is a problem. But it's not the only reason the matchmaking sucks.
but hiding prestige has no bearing on matchmaking at all - so not sure why you think the two things are connected.
Skill and prestige levels are completely different things, and a survivor could quite easily switch to a lower prestiged character to play - that doesn't change their skill level.

I thought there were multiple tickets, that specifically asked about screaming in lockers, and they were all marked “not a bug”?

https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/CEMKVBN3Q0M3/img-3287.jpeg
This was closed as “not a bug” multiple times, and it was crystal clear the question involved screaming in lockers. There was zero room for misinterpretation on what the tickets were asking.
that's likely down to human error I'm afraid - sorry for the confusion.
-
If you have your player logs when this happens that would be super helpful thank you. Also any video?
I'm seeing this randomly reported so I suspect it might be a difficult one to find the cause - so any information you have, could be super helpful.

Yeah you can't see people's prestige in lobbies anymore. You could maaaaybe go through player profiles, but that is platform dependant, and if everyone is in the lobby and someone readys you've only got 45 seconds before you're locked in.
So it's not impossible, but it takes much more effort. Its early days yet, but thus far, I've had fewer games where I've roflstomped or been absolutely juiced.
EDIT: Apologies I only half answered.
Patch 7.2.0
- Quality of Life: Survivor Prestiges are no longer displayed in the pre-game Lobby.
I want to correct something with this (which is why I always advise players use the patch notes that we put out). This is part of an AB Test - it's not something that all players will experience (am referring to the Prestige Levels being shown in the lobby). It's also not confirmed that it will be implemented as it's currently in the testing stage.

Your HITBOX still takes the same amount of time to move as a MEDIUM vault and that's the underlying issue.
Fast vaults were originally fixed to correctly give distance when fast vaulting however that was rolled back.
Go back to some old trapper footage you'll notice traps at a distance from a window to account for this but now we're back to how it was. You fast vault a window and the trap still gets you if it's against the window and btw when I say old trapper footage I mean like pre 6.0
That fix was rolled back because it wasn't giving the correct distance, it was going too far from the vault location.
-
There has been no change to the vault in the current hotfix, we're acknowledging that there is currently a bug with the vault animation. It's also something that we acknowledged in our recent Reddit AMA.
There will be a fix for this in an upcoming PTB. But we wanted to acknowledge that this was on our radar and is being worked on.
This is pretty specific to fast vaults and the distance gained as well as the difference between male and female survivors - just to be a bit more specific.
-
The in-game News has been updated to the correct characters now.
Thanks for pointing out the issue.

Is it planned to change Shadowborn as well or can it function as extra FoV if people prefer to use Shadowborn on top of the FoV-Slider?
We'll have more information when it's nearer to release.
-
You would need to contact our Player Support team for this: Dead by Daylight They will be able to advise you.
-
The FOV Slider is still coming! We did say in our Reddit AMA that it can be expected either very late in 2023 or early in 2024 (please remember our timelines can change, and early 2024 can be in the first quarter of the year for example).
-
Can confirm here, that this is a bug with Ultimate Weapon. Lockers are not intended to show auras or screams
It is meant to work on the terror radius so if you're within the terror radius or enter the terror radius you would scream, that part is working as intended.
-
Blocked gens have always been able to regress with perks such as Pain Res but they do not regress with passive regression - killers can't kick them, Hex Ruin doesn't work on them. It's the instant regression that works, that's by design and has always supposed to work in that way.
-
Thank you for your comments, I am sorry that you feel that Dead by Daylight is no longer the game for you - I hope you find another game that you have fun playing.

Yeah i wonder this to. Thisll limit the use of it. I guess from there on if people go out of their way to find a flashlight in a chest itll only be like a singular survivor if your lucky. And you can report them.
The items are still available in chests yes, we've removed perks that help with getting these items to limit their use.
-
Thanks for the reports on this, we have kill switched flashlights and some associated perks due to the bug. Please stay tuned for more information on when these perks and item will be back in rotation!
-
This thread gives me so much life at times - thank you all so much for all the shares <3

I want to extend a very warm welcome to Richard on the forums - as you can see he's been hard at work already in his short time with the Team in creating the avatars. And they're fantastic, love to see the birb already - I knew @GentlemanFridge would use it instantly :)
-
There was a delay with the update on PS5 - this has now been resolved so you should have no trouble playing now.
-
Please remember that matchmaking does not factor in Prestige levels (nor should it) and that Prestige levels are not a factor in a players MMR level.

I think if they used the beta tab it would feel alot better as a player to have option to be included in these tests or not and be able to give feedback from actually being able to test it. As console player we're already left out from PTB testing which is pretty frustrating. The beta tab gave us hope that we'd finally be included in testing but instead of using that BHVR is selecting small groups so odds of being included aren't great. I've only seen PC players comment they've been included so chance console isn't even included in the small group that's selected.
all platforms are being used for the testing - not just pc players. And in order to get accurate data, then the testing is split across them.
-
With these types of tests we change a variety of things on our backend - not needed any client updates etc, which the Beta Tab would require.
It's a test that is done on a smaller percentage of players
-
Thanks everyone for the discussion around this - it's super useful to see all your feedback and ideas <3
keep 'em coming!

Are we ever going to have the function to see each others ranks back? Or ANY ranked changes, improvements at all?
with ranks not meaning anything with regards to matchmaking - not sure what if anything that would achieve?
-
Can confirm that this is not a bug. We are conducting some ongoing tests with some players, and we're always looking to improve the player experience within the game. We will be monitoring the feedback closely on this.
-
Due to allegations surrounding the original voice actor for Jonah, we took action to recast the role. It's important for us to be in line with the values we want to live by and promote within our community.
This change was made with the release today and is reflected on the patch notes.
-
This looks like only the text is updated, not the perk in game
-
I'm sorry but you can only use the cross progression feature of the BHVR account when you own the game on both of the platforms - it only shares the progress. There is no workaround to this I'm afraid.
-
This isn't something we can help you with Forum side I'm afraid, you would need to contact our Player Support who will be able to assist you at an account level.

the policy has been like this for years from what I have gathered though yeah it explicitly states it this way, it did work differently before.
Can we be sure that this is now permanently staying this way, or is there still some investigation going on?
there is no further investigation

The forum is not designed to assist in these types of situations, nor can we offer any personal advice.
Crisis hotline - Wikipedia there are telephone numbers here which you can reach out on should you need to talk to someone professionally.

Following Steam's weekly maintenance on Tuesday, players borrowing DLC characters via Steam's Family Sharing feature reported losing access to these shared characters, leaving only the DLC owner with access. This change is in accordance with Steam guidelines; if both players own the base game, DLCs are not allowed to be shared through Family Sharing.
If you have purchased additional cosmetics for a DLC character which you no longer have access to through the in-game store, please be assured that those cosmetic items are still associated with your account and will be waiting in your inventory if you decide to unlock the character.
I have an update
-
The perk names and descriptions are completely made up - nothing at all to do with Game Design.
We don't use actual regular perks that are in the game, as pretty much everyone knows what they mean and understand them - so having something random gives more accurate results on the survey.
-
There are no perks reserved for Demo - they are general perks. Have you levelled up the bloodweb of Skull Merchant as they automatically appear there together with all the other general perks?
-
There is looking to be some issue Steam side at the moment I'm afraid.

Remember that one time Mathieu Cote got stomped by old instablind flashlights on the Asian server during an interview?
Remember how flashlights got nerfed into the floor and Hag got buffed like a week later?
Remember how he genuinely believed both of those things were totally fine until he got forced to play the game for once in his life?
Yeah, they don't play their own game unless they absolutely cannot wriggle out of it.
I will address this. But the two things are not connected at all - you are all aware of our pipeline of work, making changes like that quickly is not something we would or even could do to get it through all the various steps.

Step 1- load game
step 2- see that characters are missing.
This is my girlfriend's PS5 and yesterday everything was fine. She logs in about 10 minutes ago and notices almost half of her characters she has are missing. She's paid for some of these while some are perhaps account shared because I've used her PS5 before. She's also lost access to the perks shes unlocked from those characters. She has been playing on the PS4 version of the game.
Can you give me your girlfriends player ID from PS5 please?
-
The way to report hasn't changed, nor has the action we take.
What did change is that now when you make a report you get feedback on that report - it will give you what you reported (so unsportsmanlike for example) plus the date that action was taken. Players still need to provide evidence that the game rules were broken. So those worried that they are being mass reported, please do not worry. If you've not done anything against the game rules - you will not be punished, the volume of the reports is irrelevant, evidence is the most important thing.
-
The "play your own game" comes up so often - we work on this game for 40 hrs a week, we do playtest but we're testing various things and it's definitely not the same when something goes Live and is played by hundreds of thousand of people, of course things are more likely to be found then.
I wouldn't expect everyone to play the game in their free time - although some of us do, I have 6k hours for example and have played since launch.
We listen to feedback - there have been many changes that have been implemented from feedback, that feedback is collected from many sources as well. Not every piece of feedback can be implemented either (nor should it), for every person that wants x there's an equal number of people that want y. The Team has to decide what to implement what to change, and yes data will play a big part in that as well. Community sentiment is of course important but sometimes changes need to be made for the health of the game that might affect that sentiment - that's where it becomes difficult.
Making a game has so many different parts and so many different departments and each has their own objective to achieve, collating all that and prioritising what can / can't be done and is a big job in itself.
