Quality of life changes are things we are always looking at, for example the FOV slider that's going to be implemented shortly and the Survivor HUD that's currently in the game.
The lobby changes will take some time (I don't have a timescale), as things are likely to be reworked. Showing perks loadouts though is not fully part of that, and not decided if that will come into the game for various reasons - lobby dodging would likely increase, you see 3 other survivors with Distortion = Dodge, someone running No Mither = Dodge, someone running a solo survivor build = dodge, as some examples. Things are not cut and dried so before we make changes such as that it has to be considered very carefully both the positives and negatives, and depending which one outweighs the other.
Rather than lobby perks being shown, there's been some great ideas that I've seen recently where you see more in game itself, so for example the aura of a Survivor downed with Plot Twist having a different colour, I think that's something that's far more valuable in game.

As Killer, my top 3 underated Perks are:
1. Dark Devotion: This is such a fun Perk to use, both adding stealth as well as unnerving Survivors when the Obsession runs into them. Such a fun confusion perk.
2. Forced Penance: Gets far more usage than some people think, especially with altruism. Also, if everyone is bundling in on you, there's no cooldown to worry about. The effect is pretty strong too.
3. Hex: Two Can Play: This is a fun meme Perk which actually is more useful than some make out. Seeing Survivors running into walls and obstacles after slamming a pallet is just funny to watch.
As for Survivor...
1. Lightweight: I'm certain this is slept on. So many Killers have lost me because of this Perk.
2. No One Left Behind: This is such a great Perk, whenever I make it to the end with this. It feels like I'm cheating, basically. The information is staggering and worth the pay-off in my book.
3. Scene Partner: It just keeps making me laugh for some reason. It's useful, although often can screw me over unless "Calm Spirit" is thrown in the mix. More of a pain when trying to do something, but it's just a stupid, dumb, fun Perk that I cannot help but love.
Lightweight has definitely caught me out as a killer! Completely unexpected to see it, and I could have kicked myself when I realised.

Well... I wait for the real version No. 3 of this roadmap where I can find

The roadmap after the first section shows less in it because things aren't finalised. Whilst I know Freddy is something that's on your mind, it's definitely not going to be in the first part of the roadmap.

Encouraging people to play in a certain way is very difficult, we give perks to survivors to counter tunnelling - has that encouraged killers not to tunnel for example?
You can only do so much, you can give people the tools, it's up to them how they use them.
We even have perks for those that do not want to play as a team, Sole Survivor comes to mind.

A lot of old Onyro players don't like the new Onyro. Being stronger isn't the only thing that matters to the players of killers.
Trickster is also the most recent one and I don't think anyone had anything good to say about it.
This is very true, especially with Onryo - which is another question we addressed in the AMA regarding the Onryo update. We completely understand that many players liked the playstyles associated with the original Onryo and did not like those being removed with the recent update. Hence we're looking at how to build those back in whilst still keeping her strength.

If that is an older version does that mean plans for singularity update were cancelled?
not necessarily cancelled but no set stream for us to add them into
To make that clearer, when we're working on updates we have to factor what else is happening and whether there's enough bandwidth to get somethings in - how much programming time is needed, testing time etc etc. It's why sometimes we have to move things around.

Upcoming Live Updates Roadmap — BHVR to be very clear, this is the current roadmap, not the one shown in the screenshot above that was an older version.

Both bait and us vs them.
Incredible.
They specifically point out the most optimal way of playing Twins is via slugging, which is frankly, unrewarding for both the Killer and Survivor. They then state that they wish to change their kit to give them other ways to be played viably.
Only someone intent on misrepresenting their words could've gotten, "BHVR hates Killers and disregards all their feedback, they favor Survivor Etc etc"
thank you for understanding what we mean, this is it exactly!

Tried to be a li'l silly. Would not recommend it as they don't seem to want personal questions 😑🙃. Can we get a list of acceptable topics to clarify what is appropriate?
check forum rules, don't tag Developers who are not involved in threads.
-
I will step in here to clarify some things - we cannot give timeframes for things that are happening far in advance, we work on a lot of things at any given time and can only really discuss the implementation of something at a set time - there's a lot of factors that can affect this, including things like licencing restrictions, embargo's etc.
We also answer as honestly as possible, given the recent Myers question where our Director of Design, answered that we'd be looking into Myers but that we don't have a design set for any update yet - there's not much more that can be added to that answer in fairness, as until that design is done, and the work scoped we can't give a detail as to when it would make it into the live game etc.

McLean once mentioned the reason why a FOV slider would not be fair in this game because the entire game was built on a limited visible line of sight for the killer, hiding and barely slipping by a killers view is exciting and provides a survivor an opportunity to get away. that's why that shadowborn was a perk, it gave you an advantage that the game was balanced on.
it's sad to see BHVR just completely giving up on the foundations this game was balanced on and giving killers whatever they ask for just because you can't handle them complaining about your game anymore.
how many basekit buffs do killers need? how high does the kill rate need to go before you stop?
at what point does this game stop being a PVP game and turns into just a killer simulator. I think BHVR might need to hire some people who actually play the survivor role, because from the looks of it, after McLean left the team everything went to the dumpster.
Given that the FOV slider is effectively an accessibility concern in the same vein as the visual terror radius was, we do not expect any major issues with balance from this, given that Shadowborn has been in the game since the very early days.
Stopping people getting motion sick and allowing them to play the game without having to run a specific perk, is something very important to us.
-
Negative comments and feedback is more than acceptable on this forum - just having the positive feedback is not helpful in the slightest.
The moderators do a fantastic job at removing comments / posts that break our forum rules without censoring our players here - censorship would be terrible and not something we'd want in the slightest, we've been very clear on that since we set up these forums all those years ago.

the thing is she was also proxy camping the totem making it impossible to break. how is that even fair for survivors to face a killer with a unbreakable totem ?
then she's not able to chase survivors at the same time, so they can easily do generators and escape

Wait, as I know, Charlotte has 4.6m/s movement speed. Did the Twins got nerfed and nobody informed me?
no nerf, just me typo'ing :)
-
This isn't cheating, nor against game rules in the slightest.
Any trap based killer can also do this, as can those that teleport.
If a player is doing this with Twins and protecting Devour Hope, there's actually time for survivors to kick Victor and break the totem as she'd be hooking survivors as well, plus she's a 4.4 killer without a power then if Victor is in front of the totem, so not easy to get downs on Survivors then at all. So there is definitely a way to play around it also.
-
Tweaks refers to small adjustments to a killer rather than a complete overhaul to their power. The tweaks could be either buffs or nerfs or a mixture of both, but they are still small adjustments.
-
@Binzo said:
i commented before but man i gotta say, i played him some more and yes the 4.6 is a MUST with him as is no recoil. that feels amazing from the old trickster and i main him for 2 years now. more speed, no recoil was all he needed tbh. he throws his knifes like he just woke up tho, and is still too groggy to do anything productive- like the entity only let him sleep for 3 hours or something. so old knife throw rate, no recoil and 4.6 would be the way to go.
please don't take him 4.6 it's the only thing that was really required with him to give him a chance in loops.
don't worry, there's no plans to remove him being 4.6m/s!

I'm sorry, Mandy, but that response is very confusing to me. The wording on the perk explicitly says "the killer's aura is revealed to you and all other survivors."
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SQ9OU27UNEOW/untitled.png
The wording clearly says that the killer's aura should be revealed to you.
All instances where the killer's aura revealed explicitly say "to you."
that's exactly what I mean by making the text clearer - the important part on where you're looking at is that it says at the beginning of the paragraph "when a survivor other than you is on the hook" If you notice the bug report is asking about when you are hooked (you being the person with Kindred). This is why the decision is with the designers to make it clear what the intention is with the perk and showing the killers aura.
This was the wording on the perk when the bug report was made
-
@ArcT said:
Please. It's been two months. Kindred keeps breaking and it's one of the few things that makes solo queue even half bearable.
The bug report has been acknowleged and a discussion is underway wiht our design team for the correct interaction with Kindred.
It should definitely not show the aura through the bubble and that is not going to change.
However the aura of the killer being shown to the hooked survivor is under discussion, the wording of the perk does state that the killer aura should be shown to OTHER survivors (not the hooked survivor), which it does correctly. It remains to be seen if the aura will be shown to the hooked survivor or if the text on the perk will be made clearer.
-
Want to clear up a few things here, it's not that feedback isn't listened to - we do listen to all feedback.
However, changes need time to implement - designers need to make a decision on what change to make, programmers need to make the changes, then these are tested by QA (which may or may not need further adjustments after that), plus then these changes go into certification so that all platforms are covered, so as you can see it's a process to make changes and things can't be done instantly...the addon change for example was done prior to release it just couldn't get into the release, so this bugfix patch was the nearest one.
The changes to the throwing rate and main event, were things that were found AFTER the release, but unfortunately there was not enough time to get these through the process mentioned above for todays bugfix patch, so they will be in a later one.
-
Thanks all for leaving your feedback here (for the constructive comments at least), it's been gratefully received.
Designers are currently in the process of making some changes to the throwing speed which is what we've identified to be the biggest issue with Trickster - unfortunately this couldn't be done in time for todays bugfix so we're hopeful it will be in the next bugfix patch, but this date is not confirmed.

It has nothing to do with Trickster, but for my own mental health...
Could you specify what "Killer tweaks" means? What is the difference to "Killer updates"?
I would like to know because....
Pig....
The difference between the Killer Tweaks and Killer Updates, the update is invariably bigger with more changes made - killer tweaks tend to be more numbers balancing than anything else.

soo.... isn't it a bit unfair that there isn't a mass refund? because like, many people ended up benefiting from this mistake and I really wanted to buy this skin but guess what? i was on the job... I can pay 1080 and not the current price, I think I'll buy the other skin and only buy Tiffany on dbd anniversary or when it goes on sale, I thought it was a bit unethical but ok.
it wouldn't be refunding. People purchased at the reduce price - due to our error. Allowing them to keep the cosmetic becuase they purchased during that very short time frame is the ethical decision.

There is absolutely no need to do that, and we appreciate the sentiment. But please enjoy your skin!

We're still waiting to hear the results on that hidden prestige test you guys did 3 months ago
and when we are ready to share the results and what action (if any) would be taken we will be doing that.
-
We have stated previously that we are looking for a solution to the "3 gen issue" - one that will have little to no impact on normal gameplay, when we have more information on our plans around this we will be sure to share them.
-
I can confirm that grades do NOT affect matchmaking in the slightest.
-
I think there's a misconception happening here, the MMR is not stricter, nothing has been changed with the way the matchmaking is being handled - that's the same as it has always been.
What it means is that players who'd reached the soft cap (whereby they couldn't go any higher), can now go higher, meaning they will be matched with other higher mmr players. This has no effect on newer players who were not at the soft cap.
-
Just want to manage some expectations here - the animation update is completely separate from Live Design. Animation is an entirely different department, so this does not mean that an update to Nemesis is in the works or planned.
-
Removing the link would lead to worse matches overall - as you're not a new player, so you have a better understanding and knowledge of the game than a new player does.
Your MMR on other killers is not the same as on your main one, if you pick up a new character, but it will be more than that of a totally new player - which is completely fair, as you have map knowledge and game knowledge.
At the end of the day, the worst that can happen is that you lose a few matches whilst learning to play the new killer and that's not the end of the world and does not affect the MMR on your main killer. You can also hop into a custom match and practice against bots if you would prefer to learn the killer mechanics without playing against real survivors.
-
Hi there, thank you for your feedback on this, we'll make sure this gets brought up to the right departments. Thank you so much for taking the time to post the information for us.
-
There is no option to increase brightness settings in game, a lot of the time the brightness is set for balancing reasons around the in-game lighting. You do have the option to turn up the brightness on your own monitor however.

-
His capsule model is that of a survivor so he doesn't have the same size capsule as a regular killer - so yes he can definitely hug things closer than any other killer.
-
There will be no extra cosmetics or any type of legacy for those that purchased the DLC the first time around - you've been able to use this content whilst others haven't. There was a sale previously where a lot of people likely purchased things a lot cheaper than they are right now (back to full price) and we also gave away a lot of codes for cosmetics and characters during the period between notifying our players and the final date of removal from the game.
FAQ | Stranger Things Returns! - BHVR this is part of our FAQ. We want all of our players to be able to enjoy the content within Dead by Daylight and we are very happy that Stranger Things has returned to the game.

@Annso_x said:
Nothing was mentioned for "legacy" cosmetics or other rewards, so I doubt we're going to get anything (which is totally fine in my book, most of us got the cosmetics or even the characters at a pretty hefty discount, and we got to play them for 2 years).
As for the prestige bug, I also reported an event related bug that was never fixed, it's not surprising because the event would have ended before fixes could have been implemented. I do hope they take note of those bugs and get them fixed for the next events though.
all bug reports are tracked, even with the Event ending - in case there is a similar Event in the future.
-
There will be no "legacy" cosmetic for purchasing the chapter / cosmetics the first time around.
With regards to the items not appearing in high level bloodwebs, this was unable to be reproduced as items were showing for us on P100 characters.
-
There will not be a reward for owning the chapter previously.

-
Whilst the testing is finished, the analysis of the data and the feedback is ongoing. When a decision is finalised we will definitely let you know.
-
Limiting what builds people run and / or matchmaking around those builds is definitely not something that we would do - players are free to choose what builds they want to run. If someone wants to run a meme build, good on them.
The matter of depipping is something else entirely. And that could well happen with players running meta builds as well, depending on how the match goes.
-
must admit I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I read the title of this...

The other point to bring up here is, we treat these things as bannable offenses given that they are literally in the description of the report:
Keep in mind that i found these here, on the official DBD support page: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408586278676-How-to-report-a-player
Specifically this section here: What actions will result in a temporary ban: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408581146516-What-actions-will-result-in-a-temporary-ban-
- Insults, intimidation, hateful speech, repeated harassment
- Working with the opposite team to gain an advantage or grief teammates
- Targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their game experience
- Holding the game hostage
- Advertising exploits
- Exploiting bugs, errors in design, or undocumented features to gain access to what otherwise would not be available or to obtain a competitive advantage
- Advertising exploits
- Lag switching
- Disconnects (leaving the match before killed or sacrificed) - DO NOT REPORT
- Botting
Now if we take out the ones unrelated to this such as cheating, or text-based harassment, or related to streamer type stuff, you have this:
- Working with the opposite team to gain an advantage or grief teammates
- Holding the game hostage
- Disconnects (leaving the match before killed or sacrificed) - DO NOT REPORT
I'd argue that intentionally hook suiciding yourself out of the game actually falls under working with the opposite team, and disconnecting (which is already punished)
The killer's objective is to sacrifice the survivors, so if a survivor intentionally gets themselves sacrificed can you explain how that is NOT working with the opposite team? And the point of the disconnect penalty is obviously to discourage people from disconnecting. So why do they have this way that allows them to get out of the game, and also avoid the punishment? It seems ridiculous to me.
The whole point of making working with the opposite team, and griefing teammate a reportable is because you are ruining the game for them. At least if you DC, you get a bot, and the player gets punished by being unable to queue right away, so you aren't left completely stranded. But hook suicides are doing just that, ruining the game for me.
The amount of times that i have played a game as a survivor, where a survivor goes down 10 seconds into the match (probably because they are standing still because they don't like the map/killer/perks/whatever), and then immediately hook suicides. What exactly am i as a survivor supposed to do there? The game is over at that point, there is no coming back from that unless the killer wants to show some mercy and let people escape. And even doing that just drags the match out when really you just want it to end so you can hopefully get into another one that is going to last.
Can confirm here that this is not what the report form is referring to, hence it's saying that disconnects are not a reportable offence (although I do understand what you mean due to the way it's even on there).
Regardless, survivors dying on the hook is not a bannable offence nor a reportable one.
And you can't prove that someone died intentionally on the hook, that they missed skill checks on purpose or by accident - hardware failure etc. There's no intention of banning for this.

I'm pretty sure a mod replied pretty recently on the forums to someone asking if that exact situation (killer bleeding out 4 survivors for no reason) was bannable, and they said that it wasn't. I believe the reasoning was that you can't prove that the killer doesn't have a reason to do this, the same way you can't prove a survivor isn't actually trying for the 4% or messed up the 2nd phase skillchecks on purpose.
this is very true. I've accidentally missed a skill check on the 2nd phase purely due to drinking my coffee and completely forgetting about it :)

Yes you can. Bleeding out all 4 survivors after downing them is just using a game mechanic. No hacks or exploits whatsoever. However the devs have confirmed this is a bannable offense. This doesnt even really effect the outcome of a match, the survivors had already lost. But for some reason hook suicides, which can completely lose a game for the survivors because one wanted out, is not bannable. Either 4 man bleedouts are allowed too, or hook suicides are bannable. it can't be both.
no this is not a bannable offence!
