Not... sure... if serious.
I mean technically the character we have isn’t from the scream franchise, so I get what OP was saying. Just worded it wrong
-
How would you rework him?
-
The purpose of playing is to accumulate Bloodpoints, which we use to level up our survivors and get new perks, items and offerings. So if that’s the main purpose of our games, why is there a perk to make survivors die faster?
Monstrous Shrine is a perk for players who are scared of good survivors and want them to die faster, nothing more. It rewards killers for playing poorly, because basement is only used by baby killers. If you can’t find a way to counter play good survivors, then I’m sorry, but you need to get good. I no longer go near the basement in my games, because whenever I do, the killer decides to hook me in the basement. I’ve been playing for maybe 7 hours today, and I’ve played against nearly 13 killers that used this perk, across various (although dominantly red) ranks.
When will the developers nerf this perk? At the very least, you should be able to see the killer anywhere they go, but become broken for a certain amount of time, or lose the see auras for a duration of time. That would be preferable to being hooked all together. If killers can have offerings that decrease hook distance, why do they need the basement? Why can killers do that to us?
Thoughts on this vile perk?
-OP, probably

When I do play survivor on rare occasions, I love playing against pig

Yes, indeed, but there is a difference between the two perks. Kindred lets other survivors see where the killer is IF he stands close to the hook (camping, mostly) and doesn't really give you any additional information about the killer that you would not be getting was he to come for you (eg TR). BBQ and Nurse's, on the other hand, let you see the auras of survivors that you still didn't find on your own, and that you could possibly not even be hearing (because of distance or Iron Will). I mean, there is a reason why one of the scoring points for a killer is "Survivor found" and not "You could already see the survivor, now start chasing him". As much as the Hunter emblem isn't called "Dora's adventure". As a killer, you are firstly tasked with FINDING a survivor. And again, killers have Bloodlust, which isn't really far from DS anyway. You call DS a second chance perk, I call Bloodlust a failure rewarding thing (wish I could call Bloodlust a perk, but no, killers get it for free).
Indeed, I agree Bloodlust is a second chance mechanic. Now that you’ve had me look at it in another light, it is weird that Killer’s have lots of aura perks, yet the survivor version, Object, is always being the topic of nerfs

The comparison to the legion problem includes being in a chase with a killer that has their camera looking on the floor while following the survivor counting to 30 (instead of waiting for the deep wound timer). So the 30 second timer still runs without an active chase. Fyi I am also against using DS aggressive as a weapon.
That’s fair. I feel like that’s also an issue that needs to be removed, since its technically an exploit i think

Usually about month, think this one is coming out near the mid chapter

DS counting down when not in chase makes for The Legion issue all over again. Asking a person to do nothing for 30 seconds also makes it completely pointless. I agree with the locker though, if you're grabbed (especially in the locker), there is nothing "Decisive" about your Strike.
Well if you aren’t doing anything, you aren’t being chased, therefore dont need DS at that moment

I use it almost every time I play her since I’m trash with her. It helps train the muscle memory

You mean like these?.. How many times are you guys going to cry for a nerf? Simple solution is "Don't tunnel". DS/Unbreakable isn't even overpowered; it means you tunneled and had 1 player out of the game for 40+ seconds. They still have to recover, they have to heal, they aren't doing gens.
It’s a lot more complicated that “Don’t tunnel”. That’s like me saying “Don’t do gens” if you dislike NOED. I personally never use NOED, but the point still stands

That's an interesting theory. I think Bloodlust is more than enough of a hand hold on its own, already. You literally fail to hit the survivor for like 15 seconds and you become faster for it, every 15 secs. Or you abuse that by refusing to destroy pallets. And well, then we have perks like Nurse's Calling, BBQ, Ruin+Undying, Spirit's Fury, Infectious Fright. I could go on, but I figure you got the point. Those are all perks, to different degrees, that do the work the killer should be doing himself, in his stead. You don't have to kick gens, because they do so themselves, you don't have to put much effort into finding survivors, because Nurse's and BBQ find them for you. Infectious requires you to be downing them, at least, so you are doing something. Yeah, SWF is majorly busted, or solos are not really like they should be, and there is some work to be done on survivors as well, of course. But going from one side to the completely oppsite, saying that only survivors have got things that make the game much easier? That has to be a joke. And to be fair, as much as I can get frustrated because of DS myself, at times, the OP just proved, with his post and video-proof, that many killers just call it upon themselves. If you know you're not good enough to react to a 5 sec stun and can't come back from eating it and REMOVING it from the match, you slug. Or if you don't want to take the risk, anyway. If you go after the same survivor after he has just been unhooked, you can't really come here and cry "Boo-hoo, DS OP". It's like saying that you know you are allergic to almonds, but you go around eating Almond-Joys... Devs wouldn't have put names (and soon ICONS) of those survivors into the HUD, if they didn't want killers to use them as info as well. So you see that xXDark-ShAdoWzXx was just unhooked and is now injured. You run into him and down him. If you know enough about the game, you'll slug him at that point. If you don't, and get a DS for it, it was on you. And to be fair, with the amount of killers who just straight out tunnel you to death or chase you forever, sometimes I feel like DS should be made even stronger, or token and chase based (the more you get chased, the more tokens and uses you get for it). But yeah, I get the feeling of it being not so healthy for killers who don't tunnel (as few as they might be) or those who ACT like they didn't. But until Bloodlust and tunneling are a thing, DS needs to stay. As much as BT needs to stay until we don't have camping anymore.
Both sides have got their noob things and their healthy things. But a survivor can't prevent you from playing or moving, for instance, while killers can.
No one’s whining about Kindred, which lets survivors’ see the killer’s aura. Just because you know where the survivors are, the perk doesn’t kill them for you. There’s a difference between information and second chance perks
-
I still thing the best proposed change is: 30 second timer. The timer does not go down if in a chase. If someone enters a locker or does an objective (healing, gens, totems, etc.) the perk deactivates. If a new person is hooked, DS become inactive
-
“Oh no! The killer is doing their objective! They can’t do that!”
-
So let me confirm: you want to nerf a perk that rewards ant-camping and anti-tunneling, seem to have a problem with people wanting bloodpoints, and don’t have a basic understanding of game mechanics? Did I get all that?
-
Franklin’s is part of my main build now because keys are so common. Let’s put this in a way you understand...you think BBQ is OP because its used a lot. Spine Chill is also used a lot. Guess its overpowered by your logic
-
I love this!
-
I’d say after you’re downed, you cannot leave via the gate for about 5 seconds. There’s no reason not to do it. You won’t actually be punished unless you’re being a prick
-
Yeah, definitely disappointed. I would’ve loved different aesthetics with killer shack for the realms
-
Not every killer is the same. Can’t say why he let everyone else go, but my guess is you were being a toxic POS and wanted to ruin your game. Can’t blame them lol
-
I’d say Oni, he’s Great with Add-Ons but also doesn’t need them to win

It was so buggy it was removed on PS4 that’s why. Also, very condescending NO answer
-
Or...hear me out..they’re testing their mains. New reworked maps could have interesting features for killers.
-
My issue is that it gives 60 seconds of invincibility. Healthy and sitting on a gen? Sorry, looks like you tunneled me! And while I try to eat DS in early game, can’t risk doing that in late game. I main Oni, so I don’t have a problem with slugging. But its so incredibly annoying when I’ve down 3 entire people, pick up the first one and get hit by DS. Tell me, please: if someone was unhooked in endgame near a gate and the rescuer didn’t have BT, what do you do? Down them, right? Ok, then what? Pick them up giving them a head start to the gate? Or slug them and give them 60 seconds to escape?

Man, I love how instead of playing around certain perks, like survivors have to do from day 1, people like you prefer to hit the wall instead. This is a true classic.
Stop complaining and learn to build strategy. DS was never a problem.
This whole nerf became a thing because survivors didn’t adapt to a powerful perk

I never said they where meta. I said that they where second chance perks. Don't move the goalposts. Being given a speedboost and the ability to insta-down anyone is powerful at all times when gens are done, not just off of hook. And you get it by losing. In a situation where someone gets unhooked while NOED is active... you can just instantly knock down the unhooker. DS doesn't really have a counter if you can't instantly knock down the unhooker, but that doesn't matter while NOED is active.
Getting stunned by a pallet is a mistake. If you're in a loop, making the wrong call and not respecting a pallet when the survivor drops it lets them gain a lot of distance on you. Enduring reduces that distance, Spirit Fury removes the pallet for future chases and can help you catch them quicker, and Nemesis tells you exactly where they ran to. Getting stunned without Enduring on it not a great idea unless you manage to hit them through a pallet, you're just giving them free distance. And if you don't hit them through a pallet, guess what, that's a mistake that those perks help cover up.
There's no way to bring back a sacrificed survivor either, what's your point? If you let a Gen you need to defend get to 99%, that's a mistake. With almost every other perk in the game, it's really tough to defend that gen when it gets there. But with Pop? Does not matter, a 75% gen is way easier to defend. Second Chance.
Undying still gives totems a second chance, it's just less effective now.
If you want to discuss the viability of second chance perks, then do that. Don't act like Killers don't have them then change your argument when someone says otherwise.
I have to disagree. Getting hit by pallets aren’t mistakes. Do you see what happens when killers respect pallets all the time? They lose. Killers do have them, but not to the extent you said.

The definition of knockout is “to make a person unconscious, typically with a blow to the head”
Chainsaw’s cut people up, they typically don’t really “knock people out”
The blunt force trauma caused by that huge mallet makes perfect sense to render someone unconscious... hence the perk’s name Knockout
By that logic wouldn’t it work on Oni? You can’t use real world logic in this particular game
-
In memory of Ruin: Undying, the beacon of strength for killer mains. When killers had to counter up to 16 second chance survivor perks per match, undying stepped in and helped with our second chance. Unfortunately it lived a short life at only 1.5 chapters. In hopes that survivor’s second chance perks will also be reworked, but this seems unlikely
-
Another one of these threads...please stop lumping every console player together. I’ve come across so many pc players who do the same thing you describe. I’ll admit, most console players are more casual than pc players, so most are less skilled. But not every console player is a camping, tunneling killer or an immersed survivor
-
Most of my red rank survivors have been potatoes. Maybe in the past 30 matches, only one game I didn’t get a 4K. I don’t find red ranks that skilled. Obviously not all red rank survivors are potatoes, but a majority I come across are

I think @Orion mains nurse. Care to weigh in?

Good to know. Atleast Oni’s best add-on is green so its pretty common

I’d argue Oni is pretty rewarding

I personally want dark city streets, like Victorian London. Lots of alley ways to duck into, a couple of building to hide in. It would be cool if they took some of Blight’s memories and put his map as this. Maybe even the college that he went to. Maybe like this

I kind of agree with @Yarheeguy, but not on all of them. I think:
Oni-Wrath
Clown-Gluttony
Blight-Pride
Legion/Frank-Sloth
Lust, greed, and envy-Not sure, I dont think anyone fits

I was playing a custom game against a Claudette on ormond. I was Oni, and there was absolutely no chase music at all, even though I had bloodlust going up

Yes, it is the killers job to kill, But this is a game. It needs to be fun on both ends.
I'm not complaining about any one side in particular. But perks should not be used to compensate for unfun tactics that should have been addressed years ago.
I also mention that within the current meta the killers have to use those tactics to have a chance against coordinated teams. Yes they are solid tactics but they are used to the detriment of the survivors fun.
It’s almost like 60 seconds of invincibility, a free “get off the ground free card”, not going down after being hit after being unhooked, etc. Point is, both sides have annoying things. You have to counter those things with skill
-
@chieften333 said:
So to start off, the twins as a killer have severe issues that the devs did not see coming in internal testing.
Someone has made a post explaining the issues with the twins in an in-depth manner much better than I ever could, read it if you want: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/210797/the-way-people-play-with-the-twins-proves-an-interesting-point#latest
for those who do not want to read it I'll summarize. The twins have thrown the spotlight on the issues of camping and slugging.
Now the devs have said before that they consider camping/tunneling/slugging to be valid tactics. But, they have implemented perks that act as band aid fixes for the abuse of those mechanics. DS for tunneling, BT for camping, and Unbreakable for slugging. It is worth mentioning that the only one of these that completely counters it's related issue is unbreakable. The devs also have somewhat recently brought up the point of how fun it is to go against something.
Those tactics (except camping) can make up for shortcomings in the match. Tunneling can keep survivor on a hook, thus requiring someone to get them off. Slugging is used to be able to apply massive slowdown by preventing multiple survivors from working on gens, while forcing a healthy survivor to pick them up. The main point is these tactics slow the game down to a point where the killer can win against coordinated teams.
So with all of that in consideration, why have the devs not addressed these issues? They are aware that fun is a factor in gameplay. But have not made Any attempts to make protections from those tactics in the base game. Despite many survivors complaining about how unfun they are.
At the same time, they have ignored the issue of match speed, something the 'unfun' tactics are used to address by players. That issue was to be resolved by the Early game slowdown mechanic, something that has not been mentioned for about a year, despite many voting for questions related to it in the QnA vote.
So why have those core issues not been addressed in the four years this game has been out?
Give your thoughts, sorry if this post comes off in a certain way. The intention was not to talk smack about the devs, but ask a legitimate question.
Also, its almost like the killer’s job is to kill. If you dont like being slugged, bring no mither and unbreakable. A lot of thing can’t be handed to you also. You need to have some skill in this game to compete. You have the perks, but you also need some skill. If you don’t like getting tunneled, bring DS. Killers have things they can do to help them win, and these are solid tactics.

Ok so, first of all the current bugs need to be addressed because at least three old killers are right now useless: Hillbilly cause chainsaw overheats when breaking a pallot, bubba suffers same fatigue no matter how many charges he used and then my favourite legion running same speed when using his power, really allows you to chain you attack you know on like one survivor.
Second thing addressing the slugging tactic: use unbreakable really helps you know 2 unbreakble per team and you should be fine if you are solo survivor though you have to depend on the team but guess what this was a horror game at some point and in order to survive you have to survive not just breeze trough the game, and sometimes you will die.
Camping is an interesting topic i as killer main do not support it unless you need to get that one kill when exit gates are powered. When the gens are done killer can do what he wants and i do not blame him.
And if you do not like what i wrote because its not fun i have to say to you one thing. If you want to have all the fun as survivor than dont advocate for ballance because i am not having fun when i play the killer that is for sure.
And i forgot the tunneling issue, if you play with friends and brought object of obsession dont complain as you are the key to the victory and the killer knows it and has to deal with it asap, especially if its trapper or hag.
Forgot to quote, this the the paragraph format OP Wanted

That one looks cool but dog gone it can you at least change his kanebo into an axe or something? It just makes the skin feel out of place.
I agree 1000%. If I’m paying 15 dollars for a single cosmetics, I want effort. No Kanobo, replace it with something. My idea was a free Column that he ripped out of Greece and started bashing people with. Second, new VA. Not saying Oni’s isn’t good, just that he’s a different character so he needs a different voice. Third, different animations. This could be a stretch, but having Oni with his head down when he’s demon dashing so it looks like he’s charging like a bull. Only for survivor’s perspectives though, cant have him being blind while charging.
