Nobody with common sense would conclude what you just did based on all the feedback given so far.

I expect a killer that works properly. First and foremost.

Beyond that. I expect If the skill gap of the killer Is probably even higher than nurse, the reward should be at least as good as Bubba. It's not. Not even close.

The skill gap Isn't the problem. The killer Is just weak and survivor's have far too much control over the box.

Every single time a killer comes out, people get mad after a few hours of play time because they didn't auto-win every trial. Anyone with common sense can tell you to wait and practice, because you don't have anything close to a full picture. The killer might be weak, it might be strong, either way you simply cannot tell without any real practice.

  • She had no guaranteed corrupt fountain, so people really could just nor cleanse and you would never, ever get your power.

Let me guess you listened to Scott Jund again he’s like the magic conch shell of dbd whatever he says, we have to take his opinion as fact. No offense to him but I’m not a fan of this it gets annoying

To be perfectly fair, he does back his opinions up with research, which makes his videos a rather valuable resource just in general and lends him more weight than most, which in turn creates a bit of a loop where people that have nothing to do with Scott Jund's fanbase use him as a credible example that's become recognisable in the wider community.

I mean, look at Demogorgon and Spirit. Dude went out of his way to disprove commonplace, mistaken beliefs about both by waaaayyyyy overanalyzing footage.

  • Thankfully, that's no longer going to be a problem for most people, including the ones on this forum.

That's not BHVRS fault though. They don't own the rights to the character so the fact that people are getting mad at them is beyond me.

I agree. BHVR deserved neither hate nor praise, because they did nothing either way.

Do you mean that you feel some are upset at the idea that an evil character has been introduced to the game who also happens to be or have been LGBT? If that were the case I would understand the argument a little more, but that wasn't how it was phrased. Instead the complaint seems to be "we finally have our "first" LGBT character and it's a monster that BHVR didn't even create".

That said, it's also worth mentioning that the Cenobites are not seen as evil to everyone, they deliver what those who open the box are seeking. They just can't differentiate between pleasure and pain. That's the original story anyway, I don't know about the later films which I don't think Barker had anything to do with.

I guess my point is that yeah, your argument does make more sense, but what I'm taking from this thread is that the irritation is with BHVR for providing a character that's only LGBT from a certain perspective, and not anything that they themselves had to put original thought into, which bugs me because I don't feel that everything the company does should be judged by that metric.

BHVR didn't provide or do anything and the cenobites aren't even the first LGBT+ killers. BHVR just happened to get a second lisence that included LGBT+ characters.

It will certainly be an interesting experience to see the first official LGBT+ character.

I just don't understand why this is coming up again in this particular situation. I understand the desire for LGBT characters but being angry that we got a character that can, depending one's point of view, be construed as LGBT but "not LGBT enough" because it's a monster that is no longer strictly what we consider gay is just total overkill to me.

Clive Barker is gay, people. The man who gave us this character and these stories is straight-up gay. He used to me a male prostitute and took some of the inspiration from this story by his experiences with gay customers. The story is about pansexual interdimensional creatures that exist to inflict inconceivable degrees of both pleasure and pain against anyone who opens the box, male or female. I mean, instead of being happy that we got cool characters from a cool story written by a cool person who also happens to be LGBT, we have to be angry that "not enough" has been done for LGBT representation? I would get that argument if BHVR positioned this chapter as being the answer to requests for such a thing. They didn't. They just wanted to add another classic horror franchise. Why are we looking for ways to pick that apart? Why can't we be happy to have more cool stuff?

I mean, I sit here and picture the people at BHVR saying "awesome, the fans have been waiting for this for a long time, they'll love this", only to be utterly perplexed when someone says "Nice job guys, You could only go half-gay. You ruin everything". I mean, what?

I think the problem is more about the fact that it's yet another overtly villainous character and people are sick of being associated with villains. Like it or not, cenobites are a clear case of "deviant = evil", one that actually affects people who enjoy BDSM way more than the LGBT+ community.

  • The problem is, people use this argument to justify Spirit and Nurse, as well as PH, Slinger, Trickster, and every other problem killer.

Seriously, while it's true that not every killer should be played against the same way, all killers should have intuitive, interactive and reasonably effective counterplay. Which actually isn't as big an ask as it sounds.

  • @CornHub said:

Did the devs ever say their 1st(written by BHVR) LGBT character was going to be playable or not? I'd feel cheated if they weren't playable.

No, but it would be kind of... Insane, to say the least, to have anyone but a survivor be the first official LGBT+ rep. Killers... That's just not a good idea. And this game doesn't really have much in the way of NPC's, so I don't see them adding another one, let alone making them LGBT+ and throwing the doors wide open to "token character" controversy.

I don´t know if it´s appropriate to label transwomen/queer people "caricatures" of "real women".

Let´s just appreciate that DBD is making good progress in their quest to include many minorities in their game 💓

I'm trans. And you might want to reread my comment. I was pointing out that bubba is not, in fact, trans rep. He is not really trans, genderfluid or otherwise, because there's simply not enough there. He puts on a horrific mask and becomes a characiture of a real person.

And he is directly based on someone that helped reinforce the demonisation of trans people, so theres also that.

Oh dam, you´re right! He was the first representation character for trans/queer people ❤️

Not really. There's a difference between being born in the wrong body, and ripping off someone's face to become a caricature of them.

  • Grades are purely for bloodpoints, and essentially measure how much you play the game. They have nothing to do with matchmaking.

Plus Pinhead has one of the most powerful passives in the game. Maybe even the most powerful if we don't count Doctor's add-ons.

  • I dunno, probably Spirit because Spirit's already dead and might not mind being hacked apart a little more.

I know right? I'm happy that I got lucky by having the SAW Chapter and it's not that bad though.

I just don't buy dlc on the first day any more. It's not even that I'd be mad at what I get - I can't play the killer because the ques ALWAYS jump up massively in the first evening after a dlc drop

A goal which is meaningless since the Lowest MMR Iridescent 1 player might have lower MMR than someone not in Iridescent 1 already, they got there cause they simply pipped more. It's not a measurement of skill whatsoever. SO treating it as a Grade is actually fooling people. You're Grade is meaningless. SO all that there is left is the 250k BP reward at reset but Bloodwebb RNG can make you waste those 250k BP and leave you feel you didn't get much of anything. For example a killer that is super reliant on 1 type of add-ons, like Ghostface is reliant on Recovery add-ons, 250k BP might not give you any of them since Bloodwebb is RNG.

If you don't like it, ignore it. The Devs had the choice of deleting the whole thing - would you be happier? If so, see above statement.

  • That sounds excessively punishing for new players and completely worthless for everyone else. I don't remember the last time a killer missed me

  • It's purely cosmetic. They exist to add a little flavour, a little colour to the game, to give people a goal and reward and so on. If you don't like them, you can easily ignore them. Ranks no longer affect matchmaking.

  • @ouroboros_world said:

crazy how almost all killer addons are trash, and survivor mains still want these “addon pass” and nerfing killer addons. And most killers addon have downsides bigger than upside (ex: Amanda secret) or the addon is really good it should be base kit instead of having to use it every game. (Ex: Chewed pen) they also have addons that literally don’t work just look at legion lol

It doesn't matter how many bad add-ons exist, they don't justify the OP ones. Otherwise BNP's and Instaheals would never have been nerfed.

  • Because how many add-ons are in the game, exactly? For how many different powers? That interact with how many different perks? And how bad are the Devs at keeping this game at the barest state of functionality?

No crap the Devs don't put in much effor any more. They shot themselves in the foot with Myers, giving him add-ons that literally change his power into what could have been a completely separate killer.

  • The game broke, so no. I wish we could have had another All Kill, where a bunch of fantastic changes and new perks come in and the only bug isn't that big of a deal.

The new killer is secondary at this point. I just want changes and playable game.

  • It's been disconnected from matchmaking, so I really don't care that much. Might develop an actual opinion in a few months, but for now it can have my apathy.

  • It's funny how many people go into new chapters expecting a killer as easy as Bubba and as strong as Nurse.

  • This suggestion keeps popping up, and it remains a bad idea that will wreck the games balance and remove diversity.

Sweatlords already main Blendette. We don't need to *buff* her, or introduce something even worse.

Yeah because there's nothing sexual about a bunch of BDSM demons and ,,I came" with a double meaning is really pushing it.

Hellraiser always had sexual themes, one of the demons is literally called Deep Throat.

Personally, it's been kinda fun watching the community have a meltdown because of the BDSM cult leader with ######### nipple clamp-piercing-hook-things having an extremely mild double entendre.

  • Who would win in a fight between a young, murderous street gang and an old man with a single shot rifle and a busted knee?

Sorry, but skill doesn't trump youthful vigour and sheer numbers.

Edit: Seriously, there's no question. Just ask anyone living in a ghetto.

  • On the lower end, where people used to classic FPS games sit, it's not a huge deal and doesn't give much of an advantage, if any. It's just a thing that they do to make the game look prettier to their insane eyes, because they do it with every game. And they're also extremely rare and most people claiming to be this kind of Res stretcher is ######### lying through their teeth, thanking the gods for the anonymity of the internet.

On the higher end, it's absolutely broken and no-one is doing it because "it looks better". And it's also where most Res stretchers sit.

Edit: Also, killers can use it too, especially Nurse and Blight.

  • So long as they shift what's killing survivors from crappy teammates and poor survivor co-ordination to something more along the lines of "the killer is the real enemy" then I think the current thingy is fine.

This happened already before the changed they validation method. It is not something new which just came up.

Actually, it really wasn't. Not to the extent it is now. It is actually guaranteed for me instead of just being a chance. Any m1 killer automatically gets Enduring thrown on because there is no way for me to hit pallet campers or avoid the stun.

"Because it's not a dodge perk." Except it literally is: 'When Injured, tap into your adrenaline bank and dash forward quickly to AVOID damage.'

"If a survivor is exhausted on the ground, they [BAD WORD] up and used it wrong." Nope, it's dedicated servers. From their perspective, they used it at the perfect time.

"Dead Hard is a distance perk that can be used to extra-[BAD WORD] some specific killers by also dodging their attacks for free." Nope, it's a dodge perk that gives you a slight amount of distance to give you enough room to vault a window if a killer whiffed a hit. If you didnt gain any distance and just gained I-frames, the killer could just hit you directly again. Where other exhaustion perks are guaranteed to give you distance once used, Dead Hard does not.

How long have you been playing DbD? Dead Hard hasn't been a dodge perk since dedicated servers, when people realised it was objectively stronger as an on-command burst of speed.

And besides, that doesn't justify i-frames in a game like DbD, where your opponent doesn't have an equivalent ability. It's original concept was as a perk that robbed a killer of a hit for free because you could always see them swinging before they touched you - I'm glad it stopped functioning that way.

Where did I say anything about deathsquads?

I mentioned maps and their RNG, specifically.

You keep referencing them without naming them. Everyone that gets stuck going against Nurse, Spirit and Blight? They're not normal players. You can't win that much as a normal player, you have to be the kind of person that slams gens and leaves. Same as the killers that are going to be facing them - if you're winning that much, no kidding you need to be stopped from stomping average players.

And maps and rng are irrelevant - once again, the game is casual. The system isn't supposed to be perfect, it's a casual system. It's just supposed to do a better job than the current SBMM system - aka, ranks. One individual trial is always going to be severely affected by RNG, that's how the Devs want it. And when you take into account a group of 20 trials, statistically speaking for each one you lose to RNG, you also win one. The problem is people going against opponents who are outskilled, outperked and outsweated in a casual game where they're just popping in to have a bit of fun.

If the current SBMM system wasn't so broken, MMR wouldn't be needed. But it is broken as hell and, because it's shown to all, people feel driven to be competitive in a game that's basically skillful coin tossing. While going against random players that are way less invested and just want to have fun. Which isn't the same as memeing around.

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2474606#Comment_2474606

Dead Hard needs I-frames though, otherwise any lunge would be a hit, removing any decent use for Dead Hard. If you'd remove the i-frames, the dash needs to be longer and faster to outspeed/outrange a killer lunge. Giving survivors more distance while keeping essentially the same effect.

Survivors already are consistently exhausted on the floor even with Dead Hard.

Because it's not a dodge perk. If a survivor is exhausted on the ground, they ######### up and used it wrong. Dead Hard is a distance perk that can be used to extra-######### some specific killers by also dodging their attacks for free.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2476421#Comment_2476421

Who cares about fair if it isn't fun for people playing the game?

I absolutely think BHVR is toeing the line between casual and competitive. SBMM IS a feature in all competitive games. You know what game didn't have SBMM? Call of Duty. As soon as they implemented it they started to move to a more competitive-minded game.

If the system doesn't take important variables into consideration, like maps and their RNG, then this system is just as flawed as the old one.

Also, they are essentially giving a huge middle finger to anyone who actually IS competitive and plays to win. Just like meme'ing is a valid playstyle, so is taking the game more seriously and I feel compelled after reading your statements to remind you of that.

Is it really so hard to accept that there is a difference between a SWF deathsquad or MDR Spirit main, and a normal player?

Edit: And seriously, every casual game has hidden SBMM. That has been an industry standard for years.

  • No, there's been some video evidence of them playing survivor and (my comment might get deleted for saying this) ragequitting on their first down or hook.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

They did not mess up the timing. It only looks like that on your end, but the Server registered the Stun and not your hit, so you will get stunned without receiving the Hit.

The problem is that it's too generous. It no longer registers the sidestep shuffle - because the system doesn't react fast enough, survivors see killers walking into pallets, while killers get stunned from (depending on how bad the survivors connection is) upwards of a metre away because they changed direction but the server didn't care. Which means that unless both killer and survivor have low ping, and I mean unrealistically low, killers are now faced with a lose-lose situation that honestly never existed for survivors (because if you were getting hit through stuns you could just throw the pallet early).

  • The reason you haven't been able to switch killers in the lobby is because the SBMM system has been working in the background, collecting data and calculating your MMR number. The only facet of the system that hasn't been working is the matchmaking - it's been going off of the Ranking system.

  • It's a tracking perk. That's clearly it's primary use, or else Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer/[Wraith/Spirit/Blight/Nurse] wouldn't be so complained about.

  • Sluzzy is an omega-level Nurse main who treats this game like Overwatch. Seriously, last time I saw their steam stats they were at a few thousand blink hits.

  • Optimisation, without a doubt. Whether or not they will be effective is another story, but that'll likely be where the focus shifts. And we can probably expect a similar time frame as SBMM.

Ah yes the simpleton who thinks man in mask breathing is thier entire personality. There's more to it then that. Thiers depth to each slasher character in this game. Myers, we don't know what he is or why he does what he does the mystique is what captivates. Freddy is... A very bad person who... Did things to kids, And now he's a complete sadist with a firey temper and god like powers of dream manipulation. He does cause he likes it. That's Freddy. Bubba is the case of Nature vs Nurture is he the way he is out of spite? No, he's basically a child in a man's body confused and scared of the outsiders coming to take away all he knows and cares about. Thus he "puts a stop to it". Amanda is a case of Stockholm and Self esteem issues at its worst. She sees John as a father because he "saved" her from herself. She's easily prone to jealous outbursts and self harm out of the feeling of not being good enough or appreciated. Ghost face is run of the mill I'll admit. But that's Behaviors doing not Wes Craven.

I knew it. I absolutely ######### knew it. It's always the slasher puritans who go out if their way to crap on Trickster. I'm so sorry that a flamboyant slasher offended your delicate sensibilities, and I hope that one day soon you can overcome your blind devotion to the genre and admit that none of the killers you worship have any real motivation or do anything but brutally murder people up close.

Trickster was a big bucket of cringe for anyone that doesn't whack it to Jimin

I'm a lesbian. Kinda hard to get off over a guy.

  • First: I agree, we need to know.

Second: No, that's a terrible idea. Every single casual multiplayer game or game mode in history has a SBMM system, including current DbD (that's what the pips were). Having it be visible drives sensless competitive play. People will gatekeep discussions and divide the community, forcing people to increase their score to be taken seriously no matter how intelligent, logical or empathetic they are, because that's how competition works: a minority are competitive, and through their borderline-subconsious behaviour they drive other people who would otherwise not be competitive into being competitive. This isn't specific to videogames.

TLDR: If you are mkstly getting games you could either win or lose, then the system is working.

Third: I don't care. I really don't. That's just an example of people digging their own graves. If you don't treat this game like Siege or Overwatch, you won't be there. That is less than 1% of the community. If people don't want tournament-style games, don't be sweatylords than need to never lose. Chill out. Take weaker perks. Take the game less seriously. The new system is literally designed to get competitive players out of the general population and into their own hell. Everyone else, including the kinda sweaty players, won't be there.

    Lastly, IT DOESN'T ######### MATTER.

Yes, that was a shout and some swearing, because the system isn't designed to make the game competitive. I really need to make sure that that statement gets through to people: it doesn't matter if you're using weaker perks than the next person. The point is having fairer trials, and this isn't a competitive game so YOUR SKILL DOESNT MATTER. Only the outcome. Admittedly, I'm not too happy about that, but that's just how it is and if I could let go of my desire to see my skill reflected in my teammates and opponents, you can to.

Edit: I'm serious about point 3. It's just the poeple that have to always be swfing and always run the strongest builds that will be there.

This guy is just Kpop Joker without anything that makes Joker cool. Face the music, the only people who like him either have wet dreams over him, or like Kpop. Maybe both. He doesn't fit the theme. And he even breaks the rules of no killer can speak (Plague is speaking gibberish because no one understands it except her.) He was a mistake of a chapter.

Look, the puritans are mad! No flamboyance allowed! It doesn't matter if a killer is a twised, one-dimensional psychopath that uses close-up weapons to violently kill random people they have no connection to in order to satisfy their bloodlust! That's not at all like other slashers becuase this one has bright jackets!
