When you're about to get hit and need to avoid it? It's a pallet - drop it when needed, not before, and certainly not after.

What exactly makes you think SWF teams make half of the community?
Devs stated that SWF teams are only 4-6% of the total playerbase. It is an absolute minority that screws up the MM and overall gameplay.
SWF Teams might need to wait in a seperate mode til a high ranked killer has time for them. But the other 96% of players can enjoy the game in a normal way and don't have to deal with this much toxicity. SWF players always act like they would make 90% of the revenue, but that's far from the truth.
Because back before crossplay I spent nearly 4 months checking the friends list of every single survivor in my trials and found that almost every single trial had at least a 2-person.
-
It's been in the game for as long as I can remember. Not exactly fair, not exactly balanced, but not exactly going away any time soon.
-
Yes, I find most of my trials to be fun. Because SWF teams are in almost every trial and no-one notices that.
-
Survivor is way more chill and sigificantly easier. Just do your share of the work.
That's not to say killer should be any easier - by playing killer, you are taking on the role that's doing 4× as much work.
-

Why would killers only play solo queues? Because they are tired of toxic swfs? It would kill the game. Really? I don't think it would. I think it would balance it. Because there would be choices for solo players currently and new incoming that won't have to endure the swf option unless they want too. The game has more then enough cocky and solid players without the forced swf option. I am not saying get rid of it. Just allow the players to have the option.
What exactly do you think would happen when half the games population has to wait for over an hour to get a trial? Would they continue playing, paying money for DLC and cosmetics? Or would they leave and take that huge chunk of revenue with them?
-
I genuinely don't remember if I've ever done the tutorial. I'm pretty sure it was just a bunch of writing when I started, but I could just have a really bad memory.
That being said, I bought DbD after 2 years of watching let's plays. The tutorial wasn't exactly needed for me. That words made sense.
-
I'd leave. I get wanting to win, but I get bored so very easily.
-
Desperate Measures, Botany Knowledge, Bond, Kindred, We'll Make It, Inner Strength, and I really do just like running healing perks, don't I?
-
I like Deathslinger and I talk shite about him all the time. Specifically the character, not the people playing him. And I absolutely have times where I talk about how I like playing Slinger and how his chase could be fixed, only to have a bunch of... There's no polite way of referring to them, so let's go with "spite-fuelled ragers" attack me for playing Slinger and ignore everything else.

What and when was that sound change again? Wasn't it in darkness among us? I forgot, lol.
It was right before Oni.
-
An statistic that inacurately displays the state of the game and that will do nothing but make people think the game is killer sided and ignore all evidence to the contrary because the Devs don't like to admit that poor teammates are the root cause of all deaths rather than op killers.

Sorry for taking a long time to answer.
While they are changing PH they aren't nerfing him so I don't really get the community, in fact he was buffed.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1685734#Comment_1685734
Fun map right? And there is nothing you can do just mindgame and even then it doesn't guarantee a down just a hit.
It's not whether it's a nerf or buff or anything like that, it's the fact that it's happening at all. And not some minor change like Blight - the idea behind it is to completely shake up PH's chase. For a change with such major intent (actual effect aside) to come less than a year after the killers release? It is honestly unprecedented.
-
With a show like Supernatural, it'd probably be better if they grabbed the characters from the earlier seasons and pretended that none of the later ones happened. That, or go full Ash and make fun of how convoluted their lives became. Either one wouldn't feel like justice for the hardcore fans, though.
-
Yeah, survivors can just cleanse all 5 totems before touching a generator. Killers can avoid survivors for 1 whole minute after each unhook. Just as reasonable.
-
OoO is a perk that's definitely not thought out too well just because it's downside is negligible even on a solo player. I hope the Devs completly rework it and get rid of the low risk/high reward factor. Or, in the hands of SWF with comms, low risk/win the game hands down unless you massively screw up.
-
Yeah, SWF isn't the core problem, it just really helps facilitate it. Removing SWF would just make unwinnable trials rarer, not eliminate them.
Plus, most SWF's are just friends playing DbD. It's only the ultra-sweaty 3-4 person squads with all the fun toys that people really complain about, not the two geniuses with flashlights trying to save each other to death.

Yes. Big, strong, angry, warm, thoughtful and welcoming. A strange combination, to be sure.
-
Honestly, while it does seem pretty exploity, it has the same counterplay as a normal window tech. Look one way, move the other.
-
Killer really does have a high barrier for entry. It takes so much practice to loop as an m1 killer, and even then there are so many maps where you just don't have a chance if the survivors play safe and do gens, not at breakneck speeds, but just reasonable ones. And that's without going into the powers that you also have to learn to augment or replace the m1 chase.
-
Actually, in my experience the game is less toxic now than it was a year ago. A lot of it really is monkey brain monkey braining. (Or pre-sapiens hominid brain pre-sapiens hominid braining, but that rolls off the tongue a little less.)
-
Full hex Spirit. Devour Hope/Ruin/Haunted Grounds/Thrill of The Hunt. Not the meme it seems to be.
-
Just stick with BBQ/Ruin/Undying/Infectious Fright. If you're talking about beating a deathsquad... It isn't going to happen. It's just not, there's no amount of skill that will facilitate that. The math just isnt there. If you're talking about everyone else... Well, Ruin/Undying is (with some irony) a lot more consistent that every other form of game delay, and especially on Oni.
-
Not that much needs to be done. The biggest issue is maps and hold-W, so increasing the effects of bloodlust would probably be the cheap way out. More preferably, the killer would have more ways to get information, like basekit Whispers, to find hiding survivors. The sounds should get reverted so that killers can actually hear people in a chase (that was easily the dumbest change I have ever seen the Devs try to justify). And perhaps kicking a gen should have an increased effect: perhaps doubled regression and 5 seconds of no-progress repairing before it can actually be repaired.

My point was that dbd was not a fixed experience there are many different variables in dbd that have potential to scare you, whether it be different killers with different add-ons or different audio design, but my point is that they do it very poorly, dbd was never that scary to begin with. Alien isolation and Until dawn are mostly fixed experience which makes them predictable once you have watched them or played them multiple times but at least they are scary the first time or so you play them.
I have many friends that have gotten dbd in the past 6 months and ALL of which say dbd is not scary with an exception of one of them saying chases are a little scary.
Didn't you open this whole thing by saying DbD is scary for the first 100 hours? Which is it?
And you are genuinely missing the point: Scary stops being scary when you are familiar. What you are asking for is the Devs to magically wipe your memory.

Unless that gen is 95 percent there's no way you're completing it without mending , and most legions will employ a three gen strat if a couple pop early and frenzy anyone who goes near the gens just so they have to mend , I'm not saying legion is OP but he's very annoying when it gets to a situation where he's not committing to chases and just dragging the game out , I've had fast games against legion don't get me wrong but it's not too common once they realize they don't have enough time they will just attempt to stall by doing what I stated above and it's just more aggravating from the stalemate scenario
I don't think that's true. I have yet to see any proof that that 3-gen happens more than with any other killer. I genuinely think that it is a giant case of community confirmation bias becaus everyone wants more reasons to hate legion, because I genuinely haven't seen any proof other than word of mouth in months sinc ei first saw people complain about it.
And the timer is 30 seconds.
-
Every killers gonna have haters. I see a lot of people here talking about long trials like literally every killer cannot 3-gen-no-chase. My trials agaisnt Legion tend to be pretty short, even agaisnt Forever Legion. It's just how it goes - either the killer gets a rapid snowball thanks to everyone being instadownable or they don't get any pressure at all and gens fly by.
It probably doesn't help that a lot of people think there's pressure to mend yourself. The timer takes ages to run out and you can pause it by running - half of my legion trials involve me unhooking, finishing gens, and sometimes healing others, all while bleeding out. It's so nonthreatening for "you're literally bleeding to death."

“Waaaah! you didn’t let me press E to invalidate your hatchet throw 😭” - that’s all I hear.
I don’t use exhaustion perks as survivor anymore because I got good at chases and dont need a second chance so I couldnt care less about exhaustion add ons.
Ironic they complain though given their BNP, instaheal, multiple second chances, unbreakables and even a soul guard combo. Yeah the exhaustion add on was unfair 🙄
Yes, because multiple things cannot be unfair, so whattabouting is clearly the way to go. Who cares about one problem when another exists of unequal comparability.
-
I can't say about specific PS4 issues, but the whole frame rate drop I am more than experienced with. All I can say is that I listen for sounds and... Honestly, I'm also used to that kind of chaos. I've noticed I try to take into account everything I'm seeing during a rush and plan my route before I slam. It also helps to know the exact feel of your turning sensitivity, so that you spin and aim where you want to before your eyes catch up.
As for tracking survivors in grass... Yeah, that's not easy thanks to his super low FoV. In fact, it can easily become impossible, because grass hides scratchmarks very well and also it hides survivors that are running away from you. In those situations, you pretty much have to rely on knowing where they will be beforehand or having amazing sounds.
-
I mean... If they are a full or near-full team deliberately and actively using comms to gain an unfair out-of-game advantage...
Two wrongs may not make a right, but that doesn't mean anyone can take the moral high ground and lord it over the other party, either. That's just one of those "I'm gonna leave y'all to it and hope I don't get shite all over my new shoes" situations.

I don't want to play against cheaters, who will have unfair advantage over me because voice comms replace ~10 perks. It doesn't matter whether they are depip bully squad or just casual friends. These are the same to me, since they all are using comms to get unfair advantage and it doesn't matter whether they can use it or not.
I (and probably many other players) have no problems losing to better players. Although I see no skill in using cheats to win and ruin my games, so of course I wouldn't like to play against them, since that would be just a waste of my time and miserable experience instead of positive.
So you don't want SWF notification, you want everyone's username who has every used voice Comms in a "sweaty" way to share accurate information with their team and gone on to win games because of it to be branded with a little sticker saying "Some forum user thinks I'm a cheater."
-
I saw someone on Otz stream give a great idea: Add a Ghostface-like reveal circle in which you could see his predator-style cloak, everywhere else he's invisible and outside of a certain range he's invisible. I think it would be a great idea if the visible-cloak circle on the screen was about half the screen width.
-
So... You only want to play against uncoordinated solo players? I win against SWF teams all the time - almost every game has at least a two man if pre-crossplay friends list checking is to be believed.
-
Guiltiest? OoO. Most satisfying... I don't know. I don't really find OoO that satisfying, its more just "I have info." Maybe... A Nurse game? I play her once a while to remind myself why I'm not a huge Nurse fan, and it is nice to get 4k after 4k of on-point blinks, even if it's kind of... Unfair.

I know that it was worse but there are still no unsafe pallets at all, no mind games no nothing, you break a pallet and move to the next one then rinse and repeat.
But hopefully you are wrong right now and they rework it soon again.
We can hope, true. I certainly don't want to be right, it's just that the Devs tend to let things settle for way too long before changing them. Everyone in the community got whiplash when they announced PH was getting changed within 6 months of his release.
-
Since it recently got a rework that nerfed it from ridiculously survivor-sided to a mere very survivor-sided, probably not for a while yet.

Except the 'extremely sweaty build' can be nullified by doing bones. I honestly don't understand why this combo is considered that great. It's Hex reliant, and Hex's aren't reliable.
Please, if Ruin/Undying is so weak, then why is it everywhere? Why is every streamer and content creator running it? Why is every killer running it?
Claiming something is weak just because you don't want to admit it is strong is not okay. The facts are there: the meta shifted. And meta's only shift with strength.

- DS. Unbreakable. You need to work for neither of those, both are far stronger of a combo than Undying/Ruin, and provide you with LITERAL invulnerability for 60 seconds after an unhook. Ruin doesn't stop generators from being done.
- This is irrelevant. Unless you're the type of survivor who runs at the slightest heartbeat. Then that's a you problem. Not a perk problem. The killer can only defend one gen at a time. Do gens. Commit to gens. That's literally your only objective.
Your solution is awful - and clearly comes from the perspective of someone who hasn't played a lot of killer. "Disabled for a minute or two". Basically "disabled for enough time to get the rest of the gens done".
Don't whattabout, please. This isn't a DS thread, it isn't a UB thread.
The complaint is a fair one - the reason everyone started running Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer is not for variety or personal preference. Killer plays normally and gets a lot of regression unless 4 survivors do something that normally only 3-4 person SWF's can do without losing by default. It is extremely strong.

The builds the survivors had were far more powerful, to be fair. Plus, he had no addons. Can't really call it a sweat build when addons are the most powerful thing about killers.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1685465#Comment_1685465
DBD isn't a competitive game. It's outcome is determined largely by RNG. It can never be competitive with that much reliance on RNG. Only the players are competitive.
There's no direct comparison, and as far as perks go that's literally the strongest build the OP could be running in terms of perks. Easily comparable overall in terms of "best perks for each side."

Cause it'd otherwise be abused by the hooked survivor to "save" themselves for their friend or other stuff like that.
But there's so very many ways to throw a game, what's one more? Anyone that would do that would already be throwing the game right now, just in different ways. And it's better that than kicking someone away only for them to just instantly farm you anyway.
-
Toxicity is actively going out of your way to hurt someone else. Everything else is gameplay flaws. Exploitable gameplay flaws, to be sure, but still gameplay flaws.
-
Play Alien: Isolation or Until Dawn for 100 hours and tell me that they are still scary.
It really is just exposure. That's all. The themes are there, this is a horror game, but as with literally everything scary we adapt to it, because "Scary" and "Unfamiliar" are the same thing in human minds.
-
@Pawcelot said:

It'd solve many problems if we could stop an unhooking attempt as the survivor hanging. It'd have to be on a cooldown, though.
Why?
-
Just adding the ability to deny an unhook would be fine. Sure, some people would sue that to troll... By throwing the game and dying, which is already a thing that people do, just in other ways.
-
As they stand, exhaustion add-ons are extremely outdated. However, that's only in terms of duration - the concept itself is fine. Currently, they basically negate every exhaustion perk in the game, since there's no way to get rid of that exhaustion timer in a chase. They should just be reduced to around 2-4 seconds.

first post deflects from OP point
as usual
The OP's point was to vilify people that bring strong things, since that's all we see in that screenshot. And given they, as I pointed out, refused to acknowledge what is literally the strongest build in the game on one of the strongest killers in the game in doing so?
Yeah. Right. I'm the one deflecting.
-
Uh... So you want to discuss your own extremely sweaty build? Or are we gonna ignore that and jump on the anti-SWF bandwagon?
It's okay to bring strong stuff on both sides. I see no problem with anything in this screenshot, except maybe the exceptionally high gamma. I'm not attempting to justify behaviour but we only have your word for it.
-
It is frustrating that so many of the oft-necessary mechanics in the game are made into perks that do more than they should to justify the fact that they are perks and both aren't always present and wouldn't always activate otherwise.
A base kit BT that only lasts 5 seconds sounds great. BT could increase the bleed-out time and the Endurance effect duration.
-
Learn how to time your shocks. Doctor has one of the best antiloop powers in the game, but it is difficult to use effectively. A lot of people spam it and claim that Doctor is easy because of that, completely ignoring the fact that they wasted more time spamming shocks than in a basic m1 chase.
-
Horror isn't scary when it becomes familiar, but that doesn't mean it isn't still horror. Horror is a theme more than anything else, after all.
