  • No, I actually liked Doc on the narrow window between his buff and his add-on rework. However, now most of his adodns are pretty damned busted and act as two separate addons rolled into one for a total of what would be another killer equipping 4 seperate add-ons. And I mean that in terms of strength as well as overall number of additional, seperate effects.

I don't see a problem with High skill High reward killers

What about high-skill survivors? Don't they deserve the same chance?

  • May as well throw my two cents so people don't have to go digging: I used to be a Nurse player back before her most recent nerf. She was busted OP, and I was admittedly a whiney killer that refused to take any argument against her seriously. Then she was nerfed, I stopped playing her so much, and I even though she was reasonable balanced, since it took a lot of skill and practice to recah her new skill floor.

But then I realised that that's not balance. Seriously, it isn't. If her power is still there, then making it harder to reach doesn't make it fairer, it just makes it rarer. A good Nurse is still a good Nurse, it's just that now she can be "countered" by holding W in certain situations. There's no proper counterplay to a good Nurse, her tactics are as simple as they have ever been, it's just now you get punished for missing. Except you really could just not miss, same with any other semi-ranged or fully-ranged killer.

I'm not sure what this means. What's safety? I really thought it was three- a couple of times in fact. I might be misremembering though.

A safety pip, or Black Pip, is the first pip you get, and it just means you neither gonup or down. The next two are the ones that add to your rank.

Also, welcome to DbD. Sorry about the grind, I've been playing for over a year and I'm still nose-to-beltsander.

  • The best part is that the Devs reworked it and it's still amazingly terrible. They basically made it so that instead of 6 maze tiles on each side, there's only 3, and the rest are extremely strong Ormond-native junk tiles that basically cannot be played thanks to the proximity of other tiles (something that was supposed to be fixed). And they didn't change the main building, so there's still a couple of infinites that can spawn.

Now do those same numbers with Coulrophobia and Sloppy.

    (Devious laugh)

AHH, yes, coulrophobia. The perk so counterable it's almost useless... Til you're on The Game.

Or Dead Dawg, Coal Tower or Father Campbell's Chapel, but I feel that it really shines on The Game. Bonus points if it's a Doctor with certain add-ons and perks.

  • ... I have a new way of looking at the horrifying lovecraftian monster that wants nothing more than the total destruction of our reality via consumption.

  • @FregglesFred said:

You run around a car. His power is useless.

Only of the car has nothing around it. And even if it doesn't... Then you didn't need your power in the first place. If it's a car loop, you get the survivor at the pallet and Rush to one side. Either they drop the pallet and you break it then catch up with them before the next time, or they get greedy and you hit them. Or you could just play the tile normally, they aren't that strong and it only takes about ten-fifteen seconds to get a hit.

  • My favourite Survivor is Kate. She's also easily the character I have the most playtime with, probably nearly half of all my hours since survivors are purely cosmetic. Although, to be fair, some cosmetics do give unfair advantages (looking at you, Blendette).

My favourite killer is The Blight, followed by Deathslinger. I like Blight because something in my brain just clicked the moment I started playing him, and I've been getting pretty consistent wins ever since. Something about being able to rush around the map with such a high-energy, heat-of-the-moment playstyle fits with my head, I guess. And Deathslinger is just a super high skill killer, pretty strong, with lots of little things to try and master. I picked him up when he came out, accidentally started maining him when I stopped being able to have fun as Plague, and just kept playing.

  • Honestly, killer meta is dependent on both the killer and the players playstyle in question. The reason survivors have such a clearly defined meta is just because they have some insanely strong and very easy to force perks. The same cannot be said for killer, not in so few words.

  • @gibblywibblywoo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/196986/how-would-you-rework-the-deathslinger

People saying he doesnt need a rework are insane. Yes he domiantes in a chase. But when was the last time you saw a Slinger even come close to beating even a 4 man solo team at rank 1? I can't remember the last time I didnt see a Deathslinger get carried to 2 kills maximum with Noed in the endgame. Much like Spirit or PH and their playstyle being pretty much based around garunteed hits, these killers just reinforce genrush/stealth meta (which is so god damn boring to play against) by having no real counterplay in the chase.

He has no map pressure. Make him slightly less oppressive in a chase and give him some additional form of slowdown or map pressure. Right now hes a marginally stronger Clown. Yeah he ends chases faster but his slower move speed pretty much leaves him at the same level.

The last time I saw a Slinger 4k at rank 1 against rank 1's was about... Last night, when I played a couple of Slinger games and 4k'd each one at rank 1 against 2 SWF teams, a 3-person and 4-person. The other games were crossplay games, so I couldn't check their friends lists.

    Disagree.

Legion has a very easily definable win condition. If the Survivors heal, you almost ALWAYS win. With most Killer's, it is usually in your benefit to heal, unless you are extremely confident in your looping abilities (which is not the caliber I am talking about, hence why I said decent.)

Legion is a basic M1 Killer without ANYTHING to help him without his power. Against Survivors who loop at an okay level and who do gens at a reasonable rate, he is totally crippled.

However, he stomps at lower ranks, just like Doctor.

You have just described how to win against every killer in the game without exception.

  • It screws over solo players or players that don't have totem tracking and is directly countered by perks that are worse than useless if there are no hexes in the trial. That means the times where it is cleansed are instantly overshadowed and drastically outnumbered by the times it directly creates 12-hook trials.

  • @Pulsar said:

I disagree. Old Legion was a HUGE problem. He wasn't a good Killer, but he was broken. Partially because of Deep Wounds, but also because of how his power worked.

That being said, I am NOT a fan of how he works now, he is basically crippled against decent Survivors, but it is LEAGUES better than what he started as.

To be fair, Legion is only crippled agaist the kind of survivors that could beat almost any killer. Otherwise, they're about as good as any other.

  • I've had some absolutely miserable trials as killer where o kill everyone and get told that I have no leg to stand on because of that.

One in particular that sticks out was against a hacker. This dude had everything: speed hacks, no collision hacks, instawiggle, instaheal, instagen, intasabo, you name it and it was probably in the game. Long story short, i refused to DC and managed to trick him into getting hooked, after which he ragequit about 10 minutes into bis nightmare trial. I killed everyone, because they basically just didn't go gens. And his teammates got into the chat and practically screamed about how fun it was, how hilarious it was, and just had absolutely no empathy whatsoever, didn't care about how miserable it was, they just told me that I should have DC'd and eaten the penalty and that they basically didn't care because they didn't escape.

  • Just give survivors in general more BP. I get the whole 4v1 argument, but it's not like 1 or 2 autoheals/BNP's is the equivalent of Iridescent Seal.

  • Which is precisely why I use a macro. The last thing I need is to both replace my keyboard and damage my hands and forearms worse than I already have.

This went from 0-Holy #########, real quick... But that aside, in Dbd I dont see teabagging as toxic.its 1 of 3 ways to communicate. Pointing and waving stops you moving but teabagging you can still move. Plus its the movement with the most movement. That being said, teabagging can still be toxic based on how it is used in any game that is played.

It's something that is often directed as, and so can understandable be taken to be, and insult. When I flip someone off, all I'm doing is raising my middle or first two fingers. There's nothing inherently insulting about that. In fact, in NA, that second form of flipping someone off isn't even a thing. Do it here, however, and someone'll try to teach you in a very physical manner why it is considered impolite. Which in itself isn't okay behaviour, but it's still a thing that can happen.

  • And your curiosity led you to completely ignore everything past the first paragraph. Otherwise you wouldn't have asked such a question. I do not, in fact, feel the need to justify anything I do to random strangers, and that's probably why I have such an easy time talking about nerfs and buffs. If I want to do something, I do it.

Create this narrative of me if you wish. I get strawmanned every other day, one more won't hurt.

We must be going against very different Blights, then, because his swing is definitely not difficult to dodge even if predicting. Sometimes you're guaranteed to be hit, yeah, but every killer has that. And what do you mean the 90 degree swing? His swing is literally, like, a third of that. At maximum. Please explain.

    Turn before you swing.

Honestly imo they shouldn't have reworked ruin. It trained people to be good at the game

That's... not quite how it played out in reality. Hitting great skillchecks is borderline impossible unless you have an amazing frame rate and no stutter, or several thousand hours to dedicate to learning the nuanced timing of skillchecks when you cannot even see them coupled with reaction times you should only need in twitch shooters.

  • You opened this up with an incorrect assumption: Lethal Rush isn't that easy to dodge unless the Blight in question is purely reacting to it. If the Blight is predicting, as you do with ranged killers, then it gets a whole lot harder. Add onto that the 90°+ swing and insane mobility, and that's one hell of a killer.

However, from what I gather he is quite difficult if you weren't expecting to play that way, and it's easy to play him like Oni or Nurse, reacting to what the survivors do and falling onto baits.

TLDR: Dodge me twice, I dare you. You might manage. It won't be easy. The significant majority certainly can't.

  • Undying is completely fine. Ruin's the problem. If it wasn't, then Undying/NOED or Undying/Devour Hope would be the meta, and they aren't. So clearly it's not Undying that's the core issue, or it would be an issue whenever present.

  • Profanity is rather poorly handled, though I don't think the mods can do anything about the filter. It removes words like [BAD WORD], [BAD WORD], and [BAD WORD], but if I use my dialect's spelling of arse, I don't get filtered and I might get in trouble even though everyone from NA is just repeatedly screaming another word for "donkey."

Edit: I had to censor myself because the profanity filter refused to prove my point and didn't censor me.

Let me guess, you run said perks (ub,ds) and play said killers? And now you want to explain how you use these perks and killers cause you just want to and for no other reason whatsoever.

    So?

  • Monstrous Shrine.

Whenever you hook a survivor in the basement, they have 100% self-unhook chance, do not gain a hook state, and you get teleported across the map to the furthest survivor and also have instadowns.

  • Just be glad they finally gave Billy some pink add-ons. I did the math and found out that a Billy with BBQ could literally bring a Mori every single game.

Cause freedom of choice should apply to them aswell.

It'a about how people constantly rely upon or fabricate reasons that shed them as nothing more than victims, then proceed to believe them, thus alienating their opponents, and refuse to face facts: It's good to win.

Well, camping to secure a kill with as little effort as possible sounds like trying to win. I also don't think it should be nerfed.

The killers job isn't to kill 1 person, it's to kill 4. That like saying a survivor trying their absolute hardest to finish 1 gen and then do nothing else is trying to win.

  • @Yords said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1677463#Comment_1677463

Yes it is, but to lessen the impact it has all you have to do is the objective. It sucks, but camping doesn't happen every game. At least, full on camping with a leatherface.

You asked a question, I gave an answer. That's why people hate camping and want it nerfed, because it's already unviable and people still do it. Campers don't camp to win, they camp to secure a kill with as little effort as possible.

  • Because camping is a completely miserable experience that robs 5 people of a fun and interactive trial

  • SWF. It is far more common to come across 2/3/4/2+2 survivor SWF teams as killer than as survivor, for extremely obvious reasons. It's easy to forget, as a solo player with mostly solos/2-person SWF in their teams, that that's not the average experience for killers.

Edit: I shoul clarify before anyone tries to bash me for blaming SWF... It's not a bad thing. It's just how it is: Comms make otherwise panic-prone survivors good, and SWF players ar emkre likely to be better in general because they have more reasons to continue playing to reach that higher skill.

  • Thana's slowdown is supposed to be the actual healing itself. It's supposed to force people to heal. It doesn't.

  • It's not as good as Kindred, thanks to it's secondary effect getting overshadowed by Trail of Torment.

  • Huntress is, unfortunately, the best. 5 hatchets is the whole team down. That being said, she's also the hardest, because you have to absolutely nail the hatchets. Don't believe me? Good, maybe hook campers won't either and we can have basic Bubba's.

  • Huntress is just more fun to play against. She has more counterplay, her chases are more dynamic, and it is possible, though extremely unlikely, that a really, REALLY good survivor might be able to overcome her.

Huntress is a killer that forces survivors to be better than her to escape. Deathslinger is a killer that forces survivors to slam gens like crazy because you WONT escape his chase.

  • @MasterofSFL said:

    Bit useless to be frank.

You're spending 6 seconds to get 6 seconds of aura? I might have something if it were all survivors see the aura or and the aura of the killer's possessions, but you'd be better off with Spine Chill at that point.

Who said 6 seconds? It could be 15. Or 30. The beauty of a perk like this is that the duration of the reading can be adjusted to bring it from underpowered to overpowered.

  • @Hex_Llama said:

I mean, not to be that person, but "I want to have fun" and "You wanted to be powerful" and "Do it because you want to," are all reasons and justifications.

And yet that little nitpick is completely different from "it's all your fault I'm ruining your day you toxic individual that I have never met or played before." Or worse, "I get camped/tunnelled/gen rushed/deathsquads every game so that's the only reason I run strong perks/killers."

  • @Orion said:

Thing is, Retribution can be disabled, so how would this work as a survivor perk? One totem and that's it?

I don't mean an actual Hex perk, just an Inner Strength style, you-get-rewarded-for-cleansing-totems perk.

  • It has diminishing synergy (Thrill/Undying have similar notification effects), but it's still workable. Personally I prefer Ruin/Undying/Retribution. No matter what, you have 2 10-second bursts of map-wide aura reading that can be far more valuable than an extra few second cleansing or an unmissable notification.

  • Well, mine used to be Surveillance, but it got "fixed." Maybe... Alert?

  • To be honest, actual "looping" is the least fun part of a chase. It really is just two people holding W in a slightly different format.

However, I am aware that looping is the term applied to chasing someone while actually using resources, I just wanted to nitpick a little.

  • @ProfoundEnding said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1675516#Comment_1675516

I don't think I agree with that. The devs have at one point considered making Kindred basekit simply to help solo survivors, regardless of the state of SWF. So I don't think they would consider getting rid of it at all, if SWF was removed. In fact, they're probably more likely to make it basekit in that instance.

The simple answer is that it would make balancing the game far easier if the original concept, which they have insanely tried to stick to, of survivors having no knowledge of their situation besides map terrain was preserved. SWF is easily the biggest obstacle to that, and Kindred is a close second only because it takes up a perk slot. Why do you think it ISNT basekit right this very second?

Edit: There's also the fact that in a magical fantasy realm of disabling SWF communication, clearly the Devs would be trying to limit the survivors information in such a drastic manner, because there really isn't any other reason to specifically disable Comms as I suggested.

  • Any Plague running this should win. That's just how it is. Iri seal, Tinkerer, Infectious Fright... Every gen they finish is a snowball for you.

Of course, terrible map RNG and robbed hits can easily stop that, but let's not dwell on things so vastly out of ones control that you may as well call them and "acts of the Entity."

  • No. It used to be decent, but the Devs nerfed it because it's usefulness was an unintended bug.

  • Bamboozle doesn't really need a nerf, but it's also not a healthy perk because it forces hold-W. Maybe a full-on rework of some kind, increasing the killers vault speed like it currently does but forcing a survivor to medium vault it the next time they vault.

  • @azame said:

Yes it does. It's a way to taught your opponent. Its hoe you get their attention or even force them to make mistakes. It's a psychological thing. Tbagging isnmore than just "toxic." I can tbag someone in gears of war to force them to push me when I have teammates ready to cross. This community misuses the word toxic. I do agree its BM tho.

To be fair, the whole concept of "taunting" is to be nasty to someone to get their attention. Kind of understandable that it gets under peoples skin in whatever form it takes, it's literally supposed to

  • Blight. Deathslinger. Ghostface. Plague. Huntress. Billy. Hag. Trapper. Oni. PH, to an extent. Spirit, to an extent.

I also don't think Nurse is the hardest killer in the game any more. There's no nuance there. Sure, landing blinks is one of the hardest skills in the game, but that doesn't make her the hardest killer to master.

  • @jerakal said:

Yeah, don't worry about what other people think. Run your toxic build and chase half the population out of this sinking ship even faster.

And that mentality is exactly what I'm talking about. How is it toxic to run strong things? How is it someone's fault for wanting to win? If something is broken, it's not the players fault for running it, it's the Devs fault for allowing it to exist in the first place.
