Threads like this need to let the devs know about these kinda problems. As of right now I don´t even know if they even consider this a problem. It´s sad. Would have loved to buy this outfit if it wasn´t flawed like this.

If they truly cared, they would either:

    A) Make them mix and matchable because it does nothing but limit outfits and makes them inherently worse by default. It seriously wouldn't be too hard for them to make minor adjustments for the costumes to be split into 3; they already have division lines perfectly splitting them.

    or

    B) Make them half the price because of the fact that you are forced to wear a whole set even though you should have a customization option and because that they are easier to make.

Umm you guys realize the old sounds wouldnt even go with the new animations right, i think people just want the quieter click and motor sounds because its easier to hide while doing gens.as it is killers can barely hear the gens when on the other side of a wall from it. also is it realistic to have your hand inside a motor while its running? Could this be a bit of a counter against spine chill sprint burst? hmm probably. God forbid the game gets a bit challenging for the survivors oh no....

survivors want their spine chill and sprint burst with a side of theres the killer to go.

We're not talking about the old sounds, we're talking about removing the added sounds in this hotfix and keeping the ones from the blight update.

The problem with the sounds comes mainly from players using headphones dialed up to like 90 Volume to hear every little ambient sound; so Generators come in like a roaring hurricane. The new sounds are welcome because working on a Generator should not be a passive task - Survivors can already unrealistically turn their cameras to watch behind them and their sides instead of having to actually "focus" on the generator they're trying to delicately repair; these sounds just help muffle their senses and break their concentration on their surroundings instead of their generator -- something that is much needed and welcome.

The car noise is perhaps a little out of place and obnoxious - it could be toned down slightly but there should be an engine start up sound of some sort; more clanking and sparking noises -- essentially, there needs to be something that keeps drawing the Survivors attention to the generator and away from "unrealistic" environmental awareness during a "singular focus" task.

Think about it - your head is right up against a generator that's revving up. You shouldn't be able to be consciously aware of anyone trying to sneak up on you during that sort of activity - especially not from behind, but the Devs have graciously allowed you the ability to freely rotate your camera during Generator activities so you can "know" when you hop off and sneak away instead of being taken by surprise almost every time.

Most of these players don't want 'realistic' sounds. They want muffled, non-distractions so they can keep focusing on everything but the M1 simulator and its sporadic skill checks.

Nope not at all, my volume is at normal levels and the gen sounds are still way too loud and silly sounding, don't put words in my mouth k? Also audio ques are super important, so not being able to hear footsteps or heartbeat while on a gen matters significantly, it'd be like if every time you hook a survivor you have the entity blaring sirens telling you to "kill them all".

  • @Gcarrara said:

Interesting how to see only me and another user on this thread liked the new sounds. I can agree maybe reducing the frequency of the "trying to startup" sound can be ok.

But other than that i prefer these sounds over the old ones.

Out of curiosity, what sounds would you suggest to put over the "car startup sound" that is currently there?

Nothing, remove the added sounds from this hotfix and make the sounds from the Blight update louder, that's it, nothing more you have to do. Don't have to add more sounds or replace them with another sound.

I don´t know about clipping being bullshit, neither do you. Only the devs knows. It was a guess from me.

Yes, there are other clipping issues already present, like for example when david puts on his black pants, up his waist when he walks you can see his skin pop out.

Well except I do know that it's bullshit because all these linked sets HAVE clipping issues even though these terrible sets are supposed to "prevent them"

Wow people are really crying about this topic. Dude I don't really care. I just like that they are more likely to make survivors miss checks. I play survivor 70% or more of the time nowadays. Just to put that out there. It's more than obvious what you main

It doesn't make skillchecks any easier to miss, all it does is make an annoying sound that shouldn't have been added.

  • @jacindazs said:

Well, a lot of people talk about loudness (that killers didnt hear gens). But I dont understand, why they didnt just increase standard sounds of gens. This is so annoying, repetitive and bothering...

I could hear them just fine (as killer) before the change, but literally all they had to do was just increase the volume a little of the sounds gens already had.

    Hello DBD-Devs,

I was wondering if you would be open about revisiting Kate's new Oktoberfest outfit. (Or would be willing to explain one detail about the outfit)

The outfit is beautiful and I would most definitelly buy it as Kate main, but one thing bothers me heavily and it stops me from buying the outfit.

Basically the noticeable pointy ends on her hips. I don´t understand what the point of the pointy ends is. I would look over it if those ends were subtle, but that´s literally the first thing my eyes catch, because it doesn´t looks "normal" proportion wise.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/90KN33CMMGMU/kate1.png

Is there any chance this can be revisited and "ironed" out?

(If there is a thread about this, then I am sorry, I couldn´t find anything)

    Cheers

    TGP

Huh, it's almost like it's not good enough to be a cosmetic that is forcibly linked at $10. Will never buy this skin or any other linked set, there is literally no reason why they should be. Before you say it, the "preventing clipping issues" is bullshit, these outfits have SEVERAL clipping issues of their own, and they could easily be a 3 piece set without much adjustment.

  • This is a Felix exclusive bug, he is not effected by Iron Will, No Mither, or Stridor noise effects. He will moan at his normal volume no matter what.

  • @xphillipx said:

Yes they did and its 100x worse now for both sides just like anything else BVHR "fixes"

It didn't make it worse, but it sure as hell didn't make anything better. I think that Claudie was hacking, not because of their hit validation

  • It's still bugged

  • Or better yet just remove perk tiers, because then you'll unlock almost every perk by the time you hit level 50.

  • @AhoyWolf said:

Also reduce the cooldown from 120 seconds at tier 3 to just like 20 seconds.

It needs to have a cooldown so it can't be spammed.

But why is the cooldown so long? You can still use it max 2 times per match...

Yeah, the perk should have a 60 second cooldown max, any longer and it's worthless. I'd also like if it only took 3 seconds to pick up a pallet.

  • Yeah, a three piece set that you can't customize at all, making the $10 price point even more ridiculous.

But I guess since Alessa is Cheryl from another timeline, it would be awkward to let her wear clothes that belong to her other self

Not at all, Alessa wore Cheryl's exact outfit from Silent Hill 3 (her default outfit), it's from the same timeline and it wouldn't be weird at all.

Agree, however in regards to Cheryl Cosmetic, I believe that Konami [Bad Word] BHVR by forcing them to do sets, because the green ones are totally mix and match worthy. Lisa and Alessa are one thing since they're supposed represent different characters and they wouldn't make any sense by being able to wear Cheryls clothes.

    But Cheryl is Allesa

Glad the rift has to stretch out the rewards over 70 tiers so those cosmetics very likely won't be locked sets! Perhaps these cosmetics are to indirectly encourage more rift pass sales and thus a more active player base?

Personally I dislike the sets, apart from the licensed cosmetics. Even then it'd be a shame if new stranger things cosmetics, for example, can't be mix and matched. I'm looking forward to seeing what they'll do with the feature, but I still doubt I'll buy them unless they have a cool set for shards.

Imagine if they were, you'd unlock the parts but could never equip them if you didn't get all three; too bad if you have a social life! xD

Jeff Skin won't be a Set (fortunately)

I think Cosmetic Sets should be cheaper than a Cosmetic that consists of three unique pieces that you can mix and match.

And their excuse with Clipping issues is so dumb. I previewed the new Nea cosmetic and her jacket clips through her hands everytime I rotate her.

Some people were able to bug her head cosmetic into other outfits and her head (from behind) is totally bald, not even shaved to simulate her hairstyle. To me, personally, Sets are just a cheap excuse to lessen the worktime.

BUT, I'll be gladly buying the Jane Set IF the only locked cosmetics are the top and bottom, since it isn't connected to the head (like Nea's hoodie) it would be quite dumb to lock all three slots.

Yeah, if they were cheaper it'd take some pain off, but I still wouldn't buy them. Also the Jane set will be forcibly linked, seeing as how all of Cheryl's cosmetics are even though they have to reason to be.

I completely understand what you're saying especially since i was looking forward to customizing the hoodie with different pieces like the crown or some of the skirts she has. That being said, I think it's a cool outfit and their reasoning behind it makes sense. They want to make outfits outside of the box that wouldn't work with other pieces without worrying about major clipping. I'm still pissed it's a set, but I understand why at least. More outfits like this will be released and it's inevitable. At least it means more outfits will be released and they will be different than usual outfits.

Unless if they stop doing the idea because of backlash, which is the outcome I hope happens

And he missed the point completely, not surprising.

  • They can make them shorter, it'd make it look less ridiculous in the process. It's clearly an excuse for them to make it seem like it has to be a set instead of separate. It looks like they forced the pants to be too high instead of the normal waist length. Even worse is that those pants would look better if they were shorter, but hey the devs gotta make a poor excuse for this forced linking somehow

  • And this is relevant, how?

  • @MargretAtWalmart said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1408001#Comment_1408001

This is true for survivor as well, if the outfit is mostly just a shirt and pants we should be able to swap head pieces to our liking. This isn't really true for the Nea skin, but why can't we at least use the head piece on different outfits?

But it is, you can easily separate all 3 parts of this new Nea outfit. All they'd have to do is either make the hood part of the headpiece (like Bunny Feng) or make it so that the hood goes down (like it shows in the promo image) with every other headpiece so that it doesn't clip. The workarounds to make this into all being separate would be simple and it's baffling how they haven't done them.

######### does this have to do with anything, no one cares about your smoking problem, we're talking about how forcing cosmetics that can be easily split into three pieces is a terrible anti-consumer move. On top of that, Susie's cosmetic CAN be split into 3 separate pieces unlike all this new set bullshit.

Yeah i dunno hopefully this doesn't become a common pattern. Either way, I only find it acceptable if its a ONE PIECE dress or a similarly complex outfit that wouldn't make sense to separate. Either way, whatever pieces that aren't linked within the head/top/legs should remain interchangeable.

Yeah, but from what they've shown so far it hasn't shown at all why they need to be linked, not even Jane's or Cheryl's dresses need to be linked, they could be easily split. Maybe if they do something like a wedding dress, but even then making an excuse for a linked set would have to be something REALLY crazy.

  • @Joshwuhhh said:

Agreed I saw the Nea skin leaked a while back, was super excited was gonna Auric cells, and get the body and legs. However seeing the forced sets translating into the non licensed characters is worrying. I loved the uniqueness of mixing and matching I’ve spent a embarrassing amount of money over the past few years. I just hope this isn’t a trend however unless they are hurt financially by it they won’t care, I don’t see them really doing much about it unless they see a decrease in revenue from cosmetics.

Yup, couldn't agree more and seeing as how the upcoming Jane and Clown skins (and most likely that Jeff skin too) are going to be sets I can say with 100% certainty that I'll never buy them. If this new Nea skin or any of Cheryl's skin can't sell me on this anti-consumer decision, nothing will. Oh well, less money for the devs, hopefully they'll just revert this terrible decision and make all these skins into pieces again.

EDIT NOTE: don't do this, the head in the back looks so bad, I can't unsee it

The back of the head doesn't look bad, they just didn't finish it, all in needs is that shaved fade all the way around and it'd look amazing. Too bad they made the dumb decision to lock all 3 pieces to a set, will never buy any of these set cosmetics until I can mix and match them.

  • @silasbleu said:

If they begin creating one piece dresses and other more complex outfits, I think that's awesome. Although it would still be nice to customize the parts that won't create clipping issues.

Let's consider the possibility that Cheryl's green rarity cosmetics weren't Konami's call to be made into a set and it was done to avoid clipping issues with the long vest and her green skirt. When selecting the vest, make it lockable to the jeans and not compatible with the skirt. However, when selecting the head or legs make them mix-and-matchable with her other cosmetics.

Just saying cause I'm definitely looking forward to the ladies getting some cute dresses. But I certainly hope we get to at least be able to mix and match the heads.....

And yet Feng's overly long day off wrap exists and it works fine with her cosmetics, literally none of Cheryl's cosmetics have an excuse for it. Not to mention none of these cosmetic sets look like they benefit at ALL from being forced into linked sets. They all can be separated easily and SHOULD be separated.

Theres ZERO reason why that headpiece for Jane needs to be linked. The legs and torso make sense to be linked but let us buy the headpiece separately.

Also the legs and torso look like they can be easily separated, you can see the separation line that could EASILY go with her other cosmetic sets

It shouldn't be an exhaustion perk but it should have a cooldown longer than 60 seconds (e.g. 140, 120, 100 seconds).

Also make it so it can be used with idle crows for all the default dwights.

    @Akito said:

Nah. Wouldn't be that fun as a killer if everyone runs Headon with an exhaustion perk like Sprintobursto. Even if Headon has counterplay if a combo like this works it would become meta and not a fun at all.

The only thing I would discuss is that the stun of headon procs once the animation is over so you get the full value of a 3 second stun.

Dudes, this post is from 2019, Head On has been made better since its release and the only thing I'd have changed is letting you slowly enter lockers 100% faster; meaning you won't need Quick and Quiet to use it.

  • @Scourge said:

exactly that would be way to strong imagine getting a free sprintburst after a decisive strike... thats what it would feel like on a 40 second cooldown

You can't use SB out of a locker though (as previously stated), the animation of jumping out/stunning the killer takes up over half of the 3 second haste SB provides, meaning the boost you get is minimal at best. Also, this post is super old, Head On has been made better since then. The only thing I'd change about it now is to make it let you slowly enter a locker 100% faster, so you wouldn't need Quick and Quiet to use it.

There will still be separate cosmetics the ones that are a set tho can have a lot more detail due to no clipping issues like the nea one is a great example cuz it has so much detail to it and the Alessa one is like that cuz skirts and dresses always have clipping issues don’t worry we will still see a lot of non set cosmetics they just won’t be the most detailed ones if that makes sense

Except they are all easily separated, and they still have clipping issues within their own locked sets. There is literally no reason for them to be locked and these are no more detailed than previously released cosmetics. The problem isn't that we'll never get sets again (although it is possible), the problem is sets existing in the first place even though they have not proven that forcing cosmetics into a set is a requirement.

I enjoy this new thing, many people who are wearing these cosmetic sets enjoy this new thing, you can't force a generalization on top of the entire community just because you and a number of particularly vocal others don't like it. It has always been a personal pet peeve of mine to see players mixing and matching cosmetics in ways that definitely don't look good and weren't meant to be put together. Most players are sensible and don't do that because they don't like it either, but some anarchists choose to anyways and it pains me to see sometimes.

I can be on board with you about the Pyramid Head cosmetic, that seems like something you might be able to customize, but I would HATE to see the legion's Robbie Rabbit skin be freed up to mix and match with absolutely whatever (and Legion has a bunch of cosmetics. So I wholeheartedly and passionately disagree with you there. Not to mention, those cosmetics are probably directly under licensing restrictions from Konami, as well as Lisa Garland and Alessa Gillespie for Cheryl, and yes, unfortunately the Pyramid Head one too.

But I see your question and I pose to you this: what's wrong with an artist wanting to see something he created put together in a complete way and used or seen in the way he envisioned? That's a rhetorical question, there's nothing wrong with that.

...As for the pricing, yeah, that steps over a line and definitely takes advantage of the community and nostalgia of the licensed property in question to make a quick buck that's 3/4th's the price of the base game itself. I would agree that's pretty scummy of BHVR to pull that without even providing a quality product (IE, Unique Voices provided for Legendary Skins). Although I have a hunch that you can bet Konami had something to do with digging extra deep into the pockets of DBD's fanbase, they're probably the ones who asked the dev team to set that price point in the first place. ######### Konami.

But pricing can always be changed and that has very little impact on whether or not linked cosmetic sets should exist at all in DBD, I and many others enjoy them. To restate: I firmly believe there's a place for both sets, and traditional outfit pieces that make up an outfit in Dead By Daylight.

Sounds like a you problem, part of the fun is making a super ugly outfit, and just because something looks "wrong" to you doesn't mean it looks "wrong" to everyone else. The only people who I've seen enjoy this are some streamers who coincidentally are Fog Whisperers and a few forum members here and there, the majority of people are not on board with this anti-consumer decision.

the problem with it is that the head is the only part of the outfit that doesn't have clipping issues with other cosmetics. So this time around it makes sense for the outfit to be a full set as you can see the Legs clipping into the Jacket from a different outfit and the head doesn't quite sit right on that torso either

Here's the simple solution, make the pants normal hight (instead of the ridiculous Urkle hiking) and have the hood go down for any other head piece. As for the head "not sitting right" that's already a lot of cosmetics, no one would care about this one not sitting quite right.

I think these linked skins are more of a technical necessity than a marketing choice. This skin looks great but if you look at where the hood attaches and how high the waist is on the pants you can see that it crosses the usual lines where cosmetics switch. I'm guessing that the character model artists are running through their wishlist of "this would look great but can't be done as separate pieces" right now and we will start seeing normal skin pieces after or along with the 4.1 release

Except they could separate every skin set they've released so far very easily. The high waist on this outfit looks dumb anyways so lowering it while making it look better wouldn't be difficult to do. It can and should have been done as separate pieces.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

While I don't think I'm going to purchase the Nea skin (yet), I do think it's probably the best looking skin in the game. And it is entirely because of its linked nature giving the artists more creative freedom.

The only thing I hope is that, where permissible, some linked sets come in pairs rather than trios later down the line. Particularly when it comes to mix and matching heads.

But it's not linked, you can clearly see where the division lines are on the skin; they could have easily broken this up into 3 separate pieces, they just decided to be anti-consumer and didn't do it.

having 2 positions ISNT keeping the cosmetic the same though. Doing a color swap is a smaller change than what your suggesting. Having a seperate model with the hood down would be the equal as making an entirely new cosmetic. As far as the Nea hair thing, we can argue whether specific hair styles would be problamatic, but it still leaves room for problems in general. Although she might not CURRENTLY have a ponytail for example, does that mean we should act as if she'll NEVER get one. Or that characters that DO have ponytails or similar hairstyles with long hair in the back should be excluded from getting hood cosmetics in the future. I'm not saying ALL cosmetics should be lumped, just the ones that we're stuck with trying to figure out how this could TECHNICALLY work.

Also, other games will put hoodies down if a headpiece proves to be too large or it clips too much and guess what, it's not counted as a separate cosmetic. They wouldn't have to count it as a separate one if they knew what they were doing because it's just changing the position of one minor piece of the set. If that somehow proves to be too much for them, then I just relay you back to the previous easier idea.

Yeah see that's the funny part, we have notqueen replying that it's so that we get better seamless outfits when it still clearly has seams.

Yuuuuuuuuup or the fact that it supposedly "cuts down on clipping issues" when they still exist, have always existed, and will continue to exist (even on these bullshit linked cosmetics). Their reasoning for doing this linking is poor at best and doesn't justify the terrible decision at all. How and why anyone thought this was a good idea outside of Legacy cosmetics (which still shouldn't be restricted imo) baffles my mind.

Nea DOES have cosmetics with long hair. Might not be pony tails, but it would have the same issue.

You also cant expect the devs to create 2 versions of the same cosmetic, one worn up vs worn down.

My comments about Feng's hood btw wasnt so much about the tassels but the white cloth in front. Its pretty gravity defying at the bottom since its SUPPOSE to be joining with the rest of the outfit there. Since its not, this looks very odd.

The long hair would not create issues, the hair is purposely pulled forward for it NOT to clip and the option of simply counting the hood as part of the head would completely remove that issue. I don't see what you're getting at with the Feng hoodie if it's not the tassels, it looks fine to me. If the devs DID go with the whole "2 positions" idea it wouldn't be difficult, it's a minor change that would keep the cosmetic the same; and when the change is that basic, I would think that they'd be able to do so (especially seeing as it costs $10).

You COULDNT use other hair with this hood due to clipping. Alternate hair with this hood would clip straight through it. You'd have a ponytail sticking out the back.

As for the hood being a stand alone cosmetic like Bunny Feng... I'd argue it shouldnt even be a thing for Bunny Feng.

The ends of this that SHOULD connect with the rest of the outfit looks like its defying gravity and just looks bad.

But the Nea head doesn't have those tassels, plus Nea's has a clear division line that could make it easy to separate; or alternatively you could go with the third option where all other heads (if they don't want to put the work in to check each of her heads) would just take the hood off and put it by her neck.

Plus Nea has no ponytails, the most she has is hats, which could again be easily worked around if the hood counted as a part of the head or if it came off when another headpiece is equipped.

  • Too bad it's restricted, was going to buy it for the hair and pants, buuuuuuut seeing as I am forced to only wear the whole thing I'm never going to buy it; even though I have all her other cosmetics.

What are your thoughts about the new outfit?

And about the linking system? Personally, I think it's saving me money lol. The outfit is lovely and well done, though! I'm just not interested in spending cash on something I can't personalize.

Was going to buy it, until I found out it was a forced set. It doesn't have to be a set, they easily could have made it 3 pieces, but they didn't. Just like Cheryl's cosmetics (which also didn't have to be sets), I am not going to buy them, literally no point if I can't customize them.

I'm gonna disagree with that. While its true many could be broken apart...

This is a dress... I could understand the hair being seperate, but the dress itself needs to be able to cover the top and the bottom.

This is the new Nea cosmetic and the problem HERE is the jacket has a hood. That jacket is interacting with both the head and the top of her torso. While you MAY be able to make the claim that she should be able to mix and match a different pair of pants in, swapping out the head here would either result in no hood (which would be weird) or hair sticking out through the back of the hood.

You could separate Alyssa's dress, it lines up with her other shirts and there is a perfect division line at the belt. As for the nea cosmetic, you could do one of three things:

    1) Make the hair the only part of the head, meaning that you could still have the hood up and swap it out for whatever head piece you want.

    2) Pull a Bunny Feng and make the hood its own separate piece (which the Nea head already looks like it's separate).

    3) Simply make the hoodie be pulled down and just rest at the neck, or alternatively, have the hoodie down only for cosmetics that would clip too much.

They really could have easily made any cosmetic so far into 3 pieces, they just refuse to do so.

I could understand SOME outfits requiring multiple cosmetic spots depending on the piece. If you had a dress for example, that would take up the top and bottom. I could see that using 2 slots with you free to pick the hair of your choice.

Yeah, but that'd be a rare instance; all the cosmetics that they've forced into sets could EASILY be separated into 3 pieces (even Lisa, although I'd be Ok with her staying a set due to her being a different character). But oh well their loss, I just won't buy these cosmetics if I can't customize them.

The fact that you cant just USE the piece ya want kinda ruins it for alot of people. Sometimes I just want the hair, but if I HAVE to use it with the outfit assigned to it...I'm just not gonna use it. If it was sold as a bundle but equip-able separately you'd have a point, but only being able to equip it as a set is driving people away from getting it.

Yeah, agree 100%, removing customization is one of the dumbest things they've done.

I'll say I care about clipping depending on the severity. If there's a piece I really like that clips badly with another, I want that fixed ASAP as my OCD goes crazy. If it's a small issue it doesn't bother me although I try to always report clipping issues.

Right, but there are cosmetics that have had clipping issues for YEARS that they've never fixed; and adjusting this Nea and Cheryl's cosmetics slightly to make them not clip too much wouldn't be that hard.

I really really hope they don’t go overboard with these sets.... I know that for me personally I will be MUCH less inclined to buying set cosmetics so they would really have to wow me in order for me to consider it.

Oh I won't be buying any of them, I really like this new Nea outfit but I'm not buying it because of the fact that I have to use the whole set. It's really ######### dumb and I can't believe that anyone on the design team thought this was a good idea. Literally no one cares about clipping issues, they've existed since the game first started so why care about them now? All it does is make every linked cosmetic worse, and this whole thread can agree. Just unlink the cosmetics Behavior, we are not buying into this terrible idea.

  • @not_Queen said:

@doitagain_ You pretty much nailed it. Like this would have been the answer I give.

And yet clipping issues still exist, this is not a good excuse for why you are limiting cosmetics so hard. Make them separated, so what if there are clipping issues, never stopped you before. The whole point of buying a cosmetic is to be able to CUSTOMIZE it, without that there's no point and I'm not going to be buying them.
