Also sometimes the survivor just runs into you, because both sides can't see very well and survivors don't get TR sounds.

I'm noticing killers with some kind of tracking ability work really well for this. All of a sudden Legion is S tier and Nurse sucks, lol. It makes sense that ppl are chasing injured survivors simply because they are easier to find. 90% of tracking comes down to sounds on this gamemode.

Base game's problems will be amplified in any game mode that involves randomizing perks or removing them altogether. Killers will be encouraged to tunnel because they won't expect any solid anti-tunnel perks. Sometimes there'll be cases where it's necessary or whatever, but most of the time it'll be voluntary just like this game mode has shown. You could easily jumpscare survivors and both have fun but majority of killers just tunnel thanks to the BP incentive being boosted and only kills being rewarded well over hook stages.

You'd have a point if the killers vision WASNT obscured so much. Tunneling is only that when the killer is CHOOSING to chase 1 target over their teammates. This game mode's hamstringing of tracking heavily limits that. The only thing you can really track is bloodstained and grunts.

  • Feel like you'd have killers out there who would WANT the switches flipped. High mobility killers don't work to great when there's limited visibility.

There are a grand total of 3 killers who can place traps

    Trapper who's already weak

Hag who can be ignored by crouch walking, or using a flashlight if you really want

Freddy who can only trap you in sleep mode

It's such a niche, and weak, playstyle that it's fine unless the devs go wild and intentionally start buffing things

Hag's interaction with flashlights was removed. Now you can crouch up to them and wipe them away by hand, but can't flashlight delete them anymore.

This mode has just attracted cheaters. The amount of P0 or P1 killers I'm going against who steamroll everyone and seem to know *exactly* where you are even if you're hidden in a dark corner away from gens is crazy. I'm doing the tome then going back to normal mode. These guys are ruining it for everyone else.

You sure it's not just people using killers with tracking abilities? Legion's Frenzy still gives away survivor positions for example.

  • Skull Merchant does decent for this. Scatter the drones around and survivors give away their positions.

  • I feel like lights out really says NOTHING about the base game's problems. If this was JUST a game mode where the only thing missing is perks, you'd have a point. It's not though... The fact that it's hard to find anyone unless you are super close to then could have something to do with the fact that grunting survivors are getting chased more. Tracking has been reduced to mostly sound. Base game has scratch marks, or just looking for crows to fly in the distance. Lights out...doesnt.

  • I'm not sure HOW ppl can really tunnel since it's kind of a pain to find survivors at all. If I find the same survivor 3 times in a row... that's just a matter of luck more than anything. I'm just trying to HEAR a survivor.

Maybe it's a case of downing the injured guy because he was easier to find due to grunts of pain?

  • Definitely tosses the meta out the window. All of a sudden, there's no gen regression/second chance/ ect perks. Ironically, I feel like alot of the high tier killers are probably worse off than some of the low tier ones. I WANNA see a Nurse who can chase survivors when they can't see anything, lol. Legion and Bubba on the other hand is doing GREAT.

  • @Peanits said:

I would say Hillbilly if I weren't absolutely awful at him, but I'm sure someone else can pull it off. The idea of him showing up behind you with no warning ready to chainsaw you is terrifying.

In my experience, any Killer that you want to stay away from at all costs is a solid choice! They all become stealth Killers, so I've had fun taking advantage of that opportunity to get up close before they can start running.

Hillbilly sounds HORRIBLE for this. The idea of having a split second to see a wall while chainsawing sounds rough.

  • I was wondering just how many ppl would realize how good Bubba would be for this. For some reason I kept seeing people talk about using Ghostface or other stealth killers...

  • That's rough since distortion ALSO hides scratch marks when it proccs. I was having a similar situation when using chucky's aura reading addons. I'd scamper a window to try a cheeky mindgame, only to procc their distortion and hide their scratchmarks for them.

Hunger Games, Jurassic Park, and Scooby Doo

I could see them giving us cosmetics of the Scooby-Doo gang.

  • Information overload really. Ultimately, the killer can only chase 1 person. If you hear your teammates scream, it's probably best to get in range and get your 1 scream in quickly rather than scream after the killer has moved into your area later. They're more likely to remember your location if you scream by yourself later vs if they have 4 scream icons popping up all around them at once.

Screaming is also not the best type of information to begin with. Unless they have LOS of you once the black bubble goes away, you have time to walk away if you think the killer is going to check your area. If I'm on a map like Toba landing or something that is a LOS nightmare, I'm HOPING the UW scream spooks people into leaving scratch marks. If they hide in a bush nearby instead... there's a good chance I'm going to move on because I can't dedicate too much time opening all the lockers and such.

Disarm the trap and hide. Repeat.

Waste the killer's time while the other three survivors finish gens.

Basically this... If a killer is crossing the map to defend the hex, they aren't pressuring gens.

  • I get the warning sounds, but I don't actually hit the limit.

  • @anarchy753 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3642254#Comment_3642254

Oppression only counts for the gen you kick, so theoretically in a 3 gen you could get 24 procs which is damaging gens 72 times.

    Realistically though, that's unlikely.

It also has a cooldown. You'd need some serious time to kick 3 gens 8 times each proccing oppression.

  • I've had it happen on RPD. Down a survivor at the exit gates, only to learn there was no hook spawned close enough.

Because you can counter Xeno with turrets, he also can't sneak if you know how to play against him. And Plague can't spam her power, she will hit you once and you will be immune to her power for a bit which will give you a space. Nemesis need to hit you 3 times and even he use no TR perk, he can't sneak because he is walking so loud.

And i don't even mentioned, Nemesis and Plague are tall killers which is even harder to stealth with them.

    Next question?

You're claiming that Trickster can pour damage on you faster than Plague? That 16 blades will hit faster than 2 pukes.

Sidenote... you don't become immune to Plague's power. You just can't get hit twice with 1 stream. A Plague can just hit you rapidly with 2 short charged streams.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3642220#Comment_3642220

Oh definetely he can. His power maybe not insta-down you but it's so closer to that level. Unlike other killers, he can hit you behind pallet and vault as well. So good luck to dodge his countless knives. Especially if he caught you unguard. That's why he should never lose lullaby.

In that case, why doesn't Xeno have a Lullaby, a killer who can ALSO hit over pallets? Or once again Plague... or Nemesis.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3641942#Comment_3641942

Nah i did not failed, it's just you did not like it.

Plague can't insta-down you. She need to full infect you first. Bubba can catch you unguard but he still need to hold chainsaw first which gives you room to make it pallet or vault.

Trickster: Click m2 and start to spam your power.

Trickster ALSO can't instadown you. Unlike the others, he can't even insta injure you.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

Because he can spam million knieves into you without penalty. Unlike Huntress, he is not getting slowdown for hitting or missing. So he will keep spam them. He has lullaby for a good reason.

You failed to actually explain why he needs a Lullaby. Why doesn't Plague have a Lullaby? Why doesn't Bubba have a Lullaby? What is special about Trickster that deems it necessary to have a Lullaby instead of just a TR.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3641315#Comment_3641315

No. Huntress and Trickster have lullaby for good reasons.

But i will never understand why Sadako has it.

Please explain why Trickster needs both a 42 meter Lullaby and a 32 meter TR.

Yeah, I usually just play him base-kit but if I do run add-ons I tend to use the dream projection cooldown add-ons (Nancy's Masterpiece/Sketch) or Red Paint Brush (i ran out of these).

It's a shame that they didn't bother with making creative add-ons that benefit Freddy himself and just went with a focus on status effects... and Forever Freddy.

Forever Freddy was a joke. He had nothing good to pick from, so it's no wonder everyone picked those addons.

  • @glitchboi said:

BHVR has been playing it far too safe with add-ons for the past few years, making add-ons very niche compared to what add-ons were like in the past. A good example of this is Billy's Overheat rework where his add-ons were butchered and replaced with far more gimmicky add-ons for his secondary effect. Like come on, who's gonna use these effects during overheat, a literal detriment to his power?

Some of the older killers tend to have more interesting add-ons, such as Huntress as you mentioned. I like what the Wraith has to offer in particular. Add-ons that focus on his uncloak speed, cloaked movement speed, the gimmicky add-ons being brown rather than green or purple... And The Clown, with his add-ons focusing to make his bottles more effective, faster reloading, etc. (though his rework did get rid of some of his nicer add-ons such as Ether 5 and 10 Vol%) Imagine if Clown had an add-on that makes it so that survivors' auras are shown for like 6 seconds after you hit them with the bottle... too gimmicky and rarely valuable. Or what if he had an add-on that gives all injured survivors Hemorrhage after he reloads? Those two are add-ons that Clown would easily receive if he were released today.

This is why killers like Pyramid Head and Nemesis have such god-awful add-ons that are so forgettable you don't realize the small value you get out of them. For PH his only good add-ons are the ones that literally affect his main power, the Punishment of the Damned (range add-ons and duration add-ons) and his Cages of Atonement (only Iri Seal of Metatron). What if Pyramid Head could have a faster cooldown add-on after performing his punishment of the damned? Or a slightly faster wind-up (but not too fast)? These types of add-ons are add-ons that you know you're getting value out of them.

As for Nemesis? Absolutely no tentacle-related add-ons. A faster wind-up add-on for the tentacle would be nice with a side effect that also increases the speed of cancelling the tentacle. Maybe an add-on that decreases your terror radius by 4 metres for each survivor that is contaminated? There's a lot of potential that can be done for add-ons that killers can absolutely tell they're getting value out of them, but instead Nemesis gets add-ons related to... killer instinct after a vaccine? How much more do you need for tracking a vaccinated survivor?

You say that, but then you have Chucky. He has plenty of addons that are actually decent and can be used for different builds and can cause a nice difference in chase.

demo had charge time add-on in the ptb. it got removed. Mew guts decreased the charge time by 50% for his shred. This was changed for 11% decrease in missed attack cooldown. Demo was a bit worse version of xeno but he also had no pallet break originally speaking.

Would be nice to have more of that. As it stands, most ppl who play Demo really rely on STBFL. With that nerf, I expect to see popularity plummet.

The biggest reason for it is Huntress I believe. If you're hard of hearing and can't hear her massive lullaby, it's definitely going to be a problem if she's readying a hatchet without you knowing she's near and can see you.

That said, for killers like Sadako or Trickster, their lullabies are so small they pretty much assist in prerunning from them. I have the visual TR on myself because I like the look of it, and yeah it makes them unable to be stealthy.

There's 0 reason for those killers to HAVE a Lullaby. All it does is negate stealth options. Perks like Trail of Torment become useless if the survivors are going to get a warning anyway. Trickster doesn't have the same burst damage Huntress does either. If you don't notice a Trickster is aiming at you until he sinks 8 blades in you... that's on you.

  • @I_Cant_Loop said:

The visual terror radius was a pretty big buff to survivors. I use and I'm guessing most other survivor players out there use it too. Killers never got any kind of accessibility enhancements, and to my knowledge the devs never addressed this. There are probably some killer players out there who have difficulty hearing - do they not deserve accessibility enhancements too?

This was brought up before with generator sounds. Apparently there's visual audio for gen progress on mobile version.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/404234/lack-of-useful-active-power-addons

the filler add-on are added in fear of the killer being "too oppressive" so they are not complained about that like blight is. Can you imagine freddy with useful add-on's such as if you trigger a snare, windows get blocked for 15 seconds or upon completing a generator projection, the generator explodes for 12% total progression and begins regressing.

It doesn't have to be CRAZY stuff to be useful. Freddy's snares for example could have addons that let you place them at range , or maybe increase the size of the puddle. Maybe Demo could get an addon that increases the charge rate of his shred, or allows him to shred further.

This is the reason the majority of Pyramid head's addons are considered useless... because only his range addons actually affect his attack.

  • The "Lullaby" in general should go, although I understand why they'd want to visual heartbeat to pick it up. It's SUPPOSE to be an accessibility feature, and ppl who can hear can get the information of Onryo's "Lullaby". Kinda makes the undetectable part pointless though.

  • UW being useful at every part of the match is nice. You could arguably use it instead of lethal for the very beginning of the match, as well as using it instead of BBQ for mid match or even finding that last survivor after slamming a hatch shut.

For some killers, it's still probably better to bring multiple tracking perks for more precise info, but if you only wanna dedicate 1 slot for a tracking perk... UW is a nice choice.

This is just from today. There are two possibilities regarding solo queue right now:

Something with the matchmaker is completely bugged and needs to be fixed.

Matchmaking is working as intended and these are the results for my killer games. It needs to be reworked/fixed in that case.

Either way, this can't go on. This matchmaking is atrocious.

Backfill could be the cause. Anytime someone leaves a lobby, the matchmaker throws MMR out the window to find a replacement. You might have replaced a lower MMR killer in those screenshots.

I have no incentive to play anymore really.

There's enough killers to keep things decently fresh if you're not COMPLETELY against playing killer. I like to jump around alot, so I'll play a game or 2 as one killer, then swap to something else. I feel MOST ppl have several characters that they more or less completely disregard after lvling them up for their perks.

  • Nah, they stopped doing those. The last few maps haven't had any.

  • As long as events consist of cosmetics to earn, extra BPs, maybe extra rift shards and don't somehow completely ruin the game's balance... I look forward to it.

They need to lean heavier on her stealth aspect if they're making condemned that much harder to get. She's short and stealthy, give her some mindgame potential. Starting the chase while stealthed for example is asinine, completely removes any element of surprise.

Chase begins when a survivor runs in front of a killer. Typically if you are sneaking up to a survivor, they aren't already running.

  • Allows the survivor to escape from the killer's grasp...onto a hook.

It’s not supposed to blind you, if it’s behind you, but if they throw it on your ankles, even just slightly behind your ankles the blast radius is definitely bright enough to blind any real person.

Flash bangs can blind you from behind. If you are hugging a wall and someone tosses a flashbang behind you, it works.

  • Billy and Sadako experience basekit changes, Blight was just an addon update.

It works the same way as PWYF now which is that every special attack counts so in Slinger’s case, getting speared is a special attack (regardless of whether you break the chain or not), and then hitting them is a basic attack so you lose 4. Only difference is it only counts attacks that actually hit the obsession, whereas with PWYF it doesn’t matter if you hit anyone or not.

For Trickster every individual blade is 2 stacks as well.

Not all special attacks cost PWYF stacks though

That's normal you got 17k then and it was not your fault. I think if you tunnel one by one, you will get more points than that, but the survivor you tunneled between 5-4 gens will have between 4-8k.

I'm well aware. The post I was replying to had said the game rewards more BPs to someone who got 4ks with 4-5 hooks than with 12 hooks... which is horribly wrong. They claimed 4-5 hooks would reward 30-40k.

  • @Frizouw said:

    Ok hold on.

You got 17k, 5 hooks, so it means someone got save and the others died on hook?

Correct, there was a total of 1 unhook and the rest died on 1st hook.

  • @pseudechis said:

Did survivors have any limitations in this tournament or was it all attenuated killer play?

    Doesn't sound that fun really.

Part of the game is the risk that comes with early elimination, tunneling is countered by team play body blocking taking threat and interrupting chases.

Typically these tournaments come with perk restrictions so the whole team doesn't bring the same loadout. I AM interested in seeing the rules of this tournament in particular though... Removing the counter to flashlight saves and sabo plays (slugging) just screams it would be filled with that very thing. The built in unbreakable PTB kinda showed us this very thing. People aren't going to play the same way they always do when you give them a boost or hamper their opponent's possible choices.

1 … 44 45 46 47 48 … 185
