Yeah. most people think SWFS are some tournament gamers who know clock calls and have mastered check spots. But most just don't feel like Solo Q or are just trolling, which is quite enjoyable in my opinion and easier to beat.
If you're looking at escape rates in a vacuum, sure... but those trolling games that result in 4 dead are typically the most obnoxious games. You have those teams that come in with 4 flashlights and head on to make chases basically impossible. Sure, the killer is going to win EVENTUALLY because no one is on gens, but it's going to be a miserable experience getting chain stunned the entire time.

Read it again. More often than not, I didn’t even have the chance to use the tail because the loop is too high. Your last paragraph isn’t a valid talking point. Being able to win the match shouldn’t be contingent on “do they have a potato?” Having to rely on there being a weak link for the killer to win is bad game design.
Are you refering to walls when you say it's too high? Xeno's tail is still good for hitting ppl at pallets and windows. His chase is very similar to Nemi's in that regard.

Hmmmmm how slow exactly is Burger King Baconator Myers these days??
Myers no longer has addons that slows him down, so just normal T1 speed at 4.2 m/s is his slowest.
-
Only thing I find annoying about playing him in the forced camera movement. He has an extended lunge with his club, but you're gonna be looking at the sky if you try to use it.

Complaining about insta down killers with STBFL?
Why would anyone use STBFL on them? You need to go out of your way to make STBFL work and that takes a lot longer than simply using the insta down. You nerf yourself. Badly.
It's for those pesky moments when you need to chainsaw a person twice just to be safe, lol

Back in 2022 I was playing solo and ran into one of those transporting insta-hooking Myers, putting us all immediately into third stage. So the trial was over in something like one and a half minutes I think?
That doesn't count
-
Had a game as Billy on one of the swamp maps. Downed someone, hooked em... then went to chainsaw away only to immediately stumble across another person and chainsawed them. Hooked em... repeat. Was a case where I kept finding the people going for unhook, and thus no one got unhooked. Everyone died on 1st hook and a total of 5 hits (2 M1s, 3 saws). I think it took like 3 minutes.

OK, neat

While I'm sure alot of ppl use 4 slowdowns, I wouldn't say it's most ppl. Lethal pursuer and BBQ are still up there in usage rates.

Ive used flashbangs and then tried to use the endurance which failed? I saw someone else post that they had issues with the endurance triggering.
I would pay attention to the right side of your screen to see if you have the endurance status effect. It sounds like you got randomly surprised. As it stands, a conspicuous action is any of the following.
- Blessing a Totem
- Cleansing a Totem
- Healing yourself or other Survivors
- Opening an Exit Gate
- Repairing a Generator
- Sabotaging a Hook
- Unhooking other Survivors
If you did not do any of these and endurance ended early, I would write up a bug report.

Well, at least I'll be quiet and not be able to have my aura read while I'm back on the hook.
Assuming the killer hits you a 2nd time, sure. The lack of sound and aura reading can help to ditch a killer mid chase though. When I'm playing Chucky for example, I utilize aura reading addons alot for cheeky plays at jungle gyms. OTR is a great way to allow the survivor to just leave the jungle gym all together without me knowing.
Same goes for Spirit... Without sounds, you can outplay a Spirit alot easier than usual.
I'm not saying OTR should be nerfed or anything, just correcting the misconception that the perk turns off after 1 hit.
-
@SMitchell8 said:
Its such a good perk and should be a staple for any solo player. As the OP stated, its 3 perks in 1. The only issue I have with it, is that conspicuous actions remove the endurance, so no flashbanging, fast vaults until you've spent the endurance.
Conspicuous actions doesn't include flashbangs or fast vaults. It's basically anything that has a progress bar such as gen repair or healing yourself/others.
-
That uses up the endurance part, but the other parts remain.

I hate it when that happens. It's even worse when multiple people do it. It's just as bad as the RPD library and the fix is so simple. Just place one fixed hook down there or make it the only possible basement spawn.
Thing is, you can force it with offerings. 1 person use a map offering while another uses a bloodied blueprint. It's the type of thing where it becomes tempting to just throw the match to sit on a slug.
-
Usually slugging down there happens due to a lack of hooks. I had a game with someone using no mither and boil over that would run to the downstairs area anytime I looked her direction. Was impossible to get her to a hook and she'd pop back up if I downed her.
-
This thread made me chuckle. OP was so confident this was an actual issue.

Yeah try Doc, I knew where everyone was pretty much all the time.
The screaming, the phantom docs it was great.
That one was kind of the obvious answer. I was trying to try the not obvious tracking abilities. Plenty of killers have straight up tracking abilities like Skull Merchant.

Thats also a good idea. Thx!
Can also play Myers and Ghostface for their stalking. Stalk in random directions and see if you get anything. You don't actually have to see ppl to get stalk. Can play twins and run around with Victor, or plant him somewhere to detect ppl near him.

Another reason for me to not play this gamemode. Is it just me or is it also super frustrating for you others to just walk around and lose gens?
I like chases. Hide and seek isn't my thing.
That's why I like using a killer who's power can be utilized for at least SOME tracking. Played Artist and just shot crows at gens. Didn't even try using em for chases really.

Yeah agree, same as Pyramid Head, flashlighting him makes as much sense as a waterproof teabag.

This same logic can be applied to several killers. Nurse for example has a bag over her head. Wesker is wearing sun glasses. Pyramid head... has a Pyramid over his head. Demo has no eyes. Chucky has doll eyes, not real ones.

There's nothing different about it. They decided the survivors can't hear TRs and Lullabies while still allowing the TR to exist. With the modifier the Heartbeat is not the TR.

Idr the exacts but he hit Leon after we split and then ignored him and followed me lmao after I got unhooked again I know we left the hook and he was up my ass again for no reason
The first time could simply be because you're closer. After hitting Leon, he gets a speed boost and was likely then further away than you as well as outside the killers view circle. As for following blood... while that blows, it's also the only tracking left besides sound. If your teammate who unhooked wasn't injured, the killer can't track them. If they ARE injured, bloodpools look pretty universal and the killer wouldn't be able to tell who is leaving them until he got close.
I feel like there's things the devs could've done better for this, but with the lack of tracking... it makes sense for killers to chase injured survivors since they are easier to find. Unfortunately recently unhooked survivors tend to be the injured survivors in question.

You completely missed the point.
Just because you don't perceived the status icons doesn't mean the status isn't there. Same thing with the TR. The TR exists despite your inability to hear it.
The status icons aren't there because the Hud itself is mostly gone. In-game sounds on the other hand are completely separate. The heartbeat is not just a neat reminder you are in the TR. The heartbeat IS the TR.
-
@Crowman said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3645398#Comment_3645398
It's how the mode works since killers still project their red stains and survivors aren't given oblivious status.
Survivors still get BT off hook despite no status icon appearing. Killers still get bloodlust despite no status appearing.
The mode is full of "thing exists, but cannot be perceived."
There's a difference between no HUD showing icons and the status not existing.
-
@Crowman said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3645378#Comment_3645378
The modifier just makes it so survivors can't hear the TR or Lullabies. The TR/Lullaby still exists. If survivors were made Oblivious by the modifier then Legion's power wouldn't show anything, but they are not made Oblivious.
Your entire argument for why Legion's power works is that the TR exists in a state we can't perceive, and your argument that the TR exists... is that Legions power works.
-
@Crowman said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3645361#Comment_3645361
The killer's TR and Lullabies are not 0 in the game mode. Survivors just can't hear them.
Yeah... typically that means there's no TR if neither sound nor the visual TR can pick it up.
-
@Crowman said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3645344#Comment_3645344
Legion's power being stronger due to the modifiers is not the same thing as Freddy's Dream World not mixing well with a visual effect.
It's a mode you don't have to play that lasts for a week. We don't need to disable more killers that work just fine with the modifier.
Legions power isn't stronger because of the modifiers, Legions power is acting against how it normally acts. Legion NORMALLY would not gain killer instinct without a TR. This is an example of a killer power that was changed to allow it to function whereas it wouldn't otherwise.
-
@Crowman said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3645322#Comment_3645322
Freddy isn't disabled for a balanced reason. The devs said they couldn't get his Dream World effect to work nicely with Lights Out effect.
His power is the dream world, and it didn't mesh properly. You could say the same thing about Legion who is only suppose to see killer instinct from ppl in his TR, or Doc for the same reason.
-
@Crowman said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3645312#Comment_3645312
There's no reason to disable any killer for a week long mode that isn't meant to be balanced. If you don't enjoy the mode, don't play it. No one is forcing people to play the mode.
Tell that to Freddy, lol

I've wondered for the cage too. This may help survivors. (Or it may be a death sentence.)
Injured survivors have to make noise of pain though. Otherwise it removes some depth. Getting healed is more a priority in this mode.
I tried playing Plague and yeah... survivors caught on quick that it's better if I had infinite red puke than if they were sick.
-
@drsoontm said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3645278#Comment_3645278
I certainly hope it didn't take them more than a match or two to understand because it should be quite obvious. If they don't get it ...
I mean, the generators are already making noise at the start just so the killer can't immediately rely on this. That should be a pretty strong clue.
It makes me wonder how things would go if instead of hooks, there was cage of torment treatments and they swapped who made noise. Make healthy survivors make noise and injured survivors stay quiet.

I believe that's just a variation on the survivor bias theme. (As in the selection bias, not the survivors survivor)
People generally don't make post about NOT being tunneled. You see how using the amount of complains compared to the amounts of not-complains doesn't tell anything.
This game mode really makes sound matter and I feel like ppl don't get that. Survivors need to stay away from loud noise notifications spots as much as possible and heal up away from hook. 90% of tracking is from sound now.
-

I was getting tunneled out bc the killer would just come back to the hook notif and boom im back on a hook lmao I just wish there would be more precautions to be less tunneling
I feel like the best thing you could do would be leave the hook, THEN heal. You don't even leave scratch marks and pools of blood don't last long. With killers struggling to track anything, it makes sense for them to check out any loud noise notification.

You should try out Alien on this mode. his tunnels when you emerge give you 16 meter of killer instinct and you can see foot markers in the tunnel. you get amazing tracking.
Alien kind of works for both sides. The flame throwers beep when you're nearby so while you can track survivors via tunnels, survivors get a warning you are near.

Because of his colors or because he can hide his red stain?

Ghostface and Legion. Ghostface was pretty fun to play against. Legion on the other hand is Legion. He's never fun to play against.
It kinda bogs my mind why ppl would pick a stealth killer like GF in a gamemode where EVERYONE has no TR. At that point, why not just play Bubba?

I think they are showing as disabled if you are leveling while queued in the Lights Out game mode specifically.
I think BHVR disabled them in that gamemode so you couldn't get them in chests. But in the regular game they are enabled.
Imagine looting a broken key on a gamemode where you can't even pick the perk that let's you loot addons to go with it.

I haven't played much survivor, to be honest. I think Lights Out is way more fun as killer.
But on the few trials where I did play survivor I've faced Doctor, Nemesis, Spirit, Leatherface, Trapper and Skull Merchant.
No Legion yet, thankfully.
I'm surprised someone picked Spirit since scratch marks are gone.

I'm enjoying Dredge the most. Chucky is pretty fun. I really, really wish Xeno could shine in this mode, but the turrets just nerf her hard.
Playing Chucky feels rough on Lerys due to his slow speed+ constant window vaults. Since you have a heavily limited map pool and it includes Lery's, I'd rather avoid that.
How does the map look during Dredge's nightfall? I'd imagine the survivors just don't see ANYTHING.
-
It's funny how killers that are usually low to mid tier become OP in this gamemode. Any kind of tracking ability is a huge help. Even if an ability is not really suppose to be a tracking ability, if it helps find survivors in any way, it's huge. Artist throwing crows at gens... Great. Plague puking on gens to get survivors to make noise... that works. Heck, Nemi's zombies raising their arms is more valuable than his whip.

I have now played Myers twice. I don't even need to see the Survivors to level up stalk. Keep in mind, I'm on Switch though. I just was stunned that a Killer was banned from the event. At least a warning would have been appreciated so Freddy players didn't get their hopes up. It is what it is though 🤷
It's because the Dream world wasn't working properly with the event stuff.

Even though Legion is strong for the mode, he's still legion and is still an M1 killer for downs.
It's not the full map pool, it's like 3 or 4 maps selected specifically for the mode and all maps are still quite big so Frenzy TR won't cover most of it. Legion also doesn't have access to his duration and speed addons for frenzy which makes quite a difference. Feral Frenzy itself is still not lethal without 5 hits which can be avoided by survivors spreading out a bit.
Frankly, without having some gen control, gens will still pop. I haven't really encountered a game where no gens were finished simply because you still have to locate a survivor without any help.
This WOULD be true normally, however it's difficult to know which way Legion is even coming from. "Spread out" only works when you know where your teammates are. Survivors can recognize that a legion is frenzying from the HUD, but they dont know if the Legion is coming to them next and from which direction.
As for being an M1 killer... it's actually not that bad. After you get ppl injured, tracking them down later is alot easier due to sounds and bloodstains. You're also going to get a whole lot closer than normal against survivors who can't see where the closest pallet is most of the time. Chases end alot faster than normal.
