  • There's stupid stuff in the game that when used can be abit ridiculous. You have stuff like this that results in survivors being faster than the killer.

    https://youtu.be/wNe1gJgmYus?si=PYKs9Kjd9FcLQGN7

This shows some coordination with 1 other teammate. It's the type of thing that generally isn't seen because people like to be able to make plays centered around themselves rather than a teammate, but... frankly this probably shouldn't be possible to begin with.

There are maps where the tunnels are incredibly far from any nearby gens. And no, there isn't always one at every gen location. I can think of a few off the top of my head, like the Grim Pantry main building or the Disturbed Ward main building. Tunnels do not spawn there but gens do, so it would be a big waste of time dragging turrets all the way over

And if you are running a nasty build (batteries included, emergency bolts, etc) it makes chases there very difficult for survivors once the gen is done since you are then a 120% movespeed ranged killer who can vault windows almost as fast as survivors and still gain bloodlust if you somehow can't catch them quickly. I'd almost go as far to say that build turns Xeno into one of the best anti-main building killers in the game

And in situations where the gens / tunnels are tightly clumped you can't ever be sure which tunnel the Xeno will be coming out of

Finally, I did say once you have broken a turret or two. A minute cooldown is a long time and you can get a lot done in 1 minute in DBD

Look... honestly this conversation is so spread out time wise I keep having to re-remember what we're talking about... so imma let it die. I just wanted to add one thing that is abit sidetracked. Batteries Included does NOT make xeno 120%. This is a common error people make about killer Haste because we call 4.6 m/s "115%" to compare it to a survivor's speed. You are getting an added 5% of 4.6 m/s, which is not "120%".

  • Like someone else said...it's slowdown but not really OP. If slowdown alone was enough to guarantee a win, Pig would be S tier.

We still have to hang on a hook not being able to do anything at all... I want the hook mechanic removed, it's so boring

How would you implement that? Do survivors just die? The hooks work as afew things all at once. It's not only health states, but also a time out while also giving an objective to teammates who have to unhook you. Quite abit of the game/perks wouldn't work if it was discarded.

Seems like it's literally just dredge's nightfall but the killer can't see scratch marks and the map isn't illuminated for them. Honestly, that sounds incredibly underwhelming but maybe (hopefully) there's more to it.

I was thinking the same thing. Isn't that the 1 thing about Dredge's power that survivors basically universally hate. It's weird seeing ppl excited about it.

Sure but after breaking 1 or 2 there's a pretty huge window where you can run across the map as a 16m terror radius killer. There's also deadzones where no tunnels appear, which is bad for your mobility but also means you won't find any turrets out in that area.

Not sure I agree it's always obvious where you are going to pop up from, the turrets beep based on your distance from them; and many maps have huge gaps from where you activate the portal underground to where you pop up.

So the turret will make it sound like you are far away when in reality you are half a second from coming out of the tunnel next to someone. That's also why his mobility is nutty on some maps, because while the portals are dumping you out right next to the gens, underground the entrances might be less than a second apart

The turret spawn point IS where you pop up from, and there's one at every gen location. The only "turret deadzones" are areas away from gens. If I'm working on a gen and the turret starts beeping loudly, there's only 1 spot they are exiting from to harass that gen, which is the spot I got the turret. Even if you focus on your lower TR rather than utilizing tunnels, the turrents still give away you're approach as if you have a TR of 41 meters.

It's not impossible. Like most developers, they send that responsibility out to a third party. There's YouTube videos of people showing off their cheating. A lot of killer bots, aim assist, wall hacks, and they don't ban the account. BHVR barely lifts a finger for blatant racism and anti-LGBT VIDEOS UPLOADED AND READILY AVAILABLE. One dev used the weak excuse of the video being on YouTube so there was nothing they could do...

This game has attracted some of the worst dregs of the gaming society in the last few years.

What WOULD the devs do about the YouTube video? There's no way to know what account is being shown since all they have is the current username, which can have duplicates and can change. This is why in-game reports are REQUIRED when handling these matters and not just a video.

  • Hunger games survivor skins would REALLY nail down the idea that you're fellow survivors are more dangerous than the killer.

Pig brought an extra trap I was lucky number 5 and I escorted the 4 and 3 search people (me and 3 twights) red shirt dwight was 4 anime helm dwight was 3 and 2 default dwight was also 2 and I was 4. The math seems to not be right with an extra trap because that's 2 traps of 4 1 trap of 3 and 2 traps of 2 searches. why the hell did bringing 1 extra trap add 4 searches to us. I got hatch but default dwight got killed on his second boc which should not have been needed. In addition to that red shirt dwight rescued me and died after my 2nd search as he was escorting me around to boxes and like a team player took the down for me as we were both on death hook (Pig camped me to stage 2) this seems a little too strong adding 4 searches to the count if there is a fixed 12 searches for 4 traps at most it should add 2 searches.

It's typically a better idea to try to be sneaky when doing boxes rather than march a parade around the map, lol. If you are escorting people, it means there's no one pressuring the Pig. If the Pig notices no gens are being touched, they're gonna start checking on boxes instead.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

number of traps has no impact on the number of searches.

the key is in a specific box from the start. just gotta find it. you got unlucky.

That's actually not true. There's no specific key, but rather each head trap us assigned a set number of searches required from 1-4. You'll never have to search 5 boxes. By default, the 4 head traps will require a total of 12 searches. In the event of a 5th head trap, it goes up to a total of 15 searches.

  • I feel like if they indicated how many survivors are in the area at any given moment, the perception of this perk would be alot better. It actually seems pretty good with this distance, but too many ppl think 36 meters is right next to the worked on gen rather than within half a map length.

"weird mask" "predator claws? cool!" "######### is that walk cycle?" - basically this.

I'll challenge the "any original killer we see for the first time, we will recognize his identity immediately" notion. you do that because you know them.

you see a knight? that is a knight. that is simple.

also works for clown. because clowns are easily recognizable.

    what is this?

"killer in mask"? what can you actually tell about legion from a first seeing of this alone?

    and this?

    https://deadbydaylight.com/static/6fae7ebf842cb611a957aaf461e1b730/a4a52/dbd_chap3_offleshandmud_keyart_f992876057.jpg

what is hag? based on this image, the first viewing, what can you tell about hag? claws, teeth... so she uses magic? it doesn't follow unless you know.

    and,

    https://deadbydaylight.com/static/645dcc32eb30d24ff3e077b745910854/a4a52/loreimage_thedredge_2560x1600_b6e0df32ef.jpg

I would not give darkness powers. more of a blob style power. it absorbs things and incorporates it into itself. which she does, but the darkness isn't obvious on a first look. (and I picked a very favorable image for it. seriously, some makes dredge look like she is just a bunch of random pieces of meat and nothing else)

now, all of these designs make perfect sense, and when you know, you can spot the details that inform the character that were put in it.

but, they aren't necessarily there on a first look. you gotta pay attention or know the lore.

    including,

    https://cdn2.unrealengine.com/dbd-ch26-shareimage-keyart-1920x1080-0b7e864a58e7.png

    the knight.

you can tell they are a knight from first glance. like you would a jester. but what else? can you tell their power? personality? gender? the actual time they come from? people make and wear armor today.

I don't think you can. those require a deep look.

You can for instance tell that the knight towers over the survivor. yes he is not standing, but even the sword is taller than him. so knight big. big sword, so knight strong.

the sword has spikes, don't know what they do practically irl but, I can interpret that as they implying the knight wants to cause extra damage when he hits someone. so they are kind of a sadist.

that is backed up by the spikes on their right shoulder, left knee and hand. just to hurt people.

the sword is damaged and maybe rusted in places. also has blood in it. so they use it a lot, but doesn't particularly care about keeping it pristine. same with the clothing/armor.

there is not a single piece on skin showing on the knight, usually that kind of thing implies an abandoning of humanity or that they hide it.

the only thing I see in his design implying the dead, which is what his power is about, is the chains. commonly associated with ghosts and stuff. but getting that from the design alone would be quite a reach imo.

now let's look at our 3rd favorite brazillian from dbd

    https://assetsio.reedpopcdn.com/DBD_CH27_Killer_The_Skull_Merchant.png?width=1200&height=1200&fit=crop&quality=100&format=png&enable=upscale&auto=webp

very decorated mask and finger...thingies. also bracelet, collars, earings... so she cares about looks to some degree.

the mask is also a gas mask. so it ain't all just for show they have some function aswell.

the mask does not cover her entire face, I would get from this that she wants to be able to see with her own eye whatever it is. or wants other to see her.

has a mechanical device on her arm and shoulder. held in place by 2 belts. probably used to help with weight or to increase strike power. maybe both. so she uses tools.

the device has visible wiring in places with duct tape holding it in her arm. this implies she made those herself. so she is intelligent. also fixing things like that is very brazillian of her, "didn't quite fit... duck tape works. Yep, don't need to bother getting the correct sized piece, this is good".

she carries 2 belts. one on her leg and one in the regular spot, both with bags. can't really see what is inside it, but can assume they have supplies she might need. maybe for repairs. maybe some medical supplies and/or food aswell. so she likes to be prepared.

she has knee pads (I think that's the name). honestly good on her. hurting your knee while carrying the mechanical arm would probably be very bad.

a simple jumpsuit kinda tells me she is very practical. but also contrasts the mask. so she knows where she can flaunt.

    and I rest my case.

first looks matter, but don't judge a book by it's cover is a saying for a reason. a bad one cause you should, the authors put a lot of work on the covers.

but message still applies. surface looks are often not correct.

You make a good point for the majority of the cast. There's only afew killers that are painfully obvious, and only if you see them with their gear. Trapper's bear traps, Huntress's hatchets and Billy's chainsaw gives a pretty good hint but... no one is gonna just LOOK at Wraith and know the bell makes him invisible. Same for Nurse's blinking or even Plague's vomit.

  • @EmpireCity830 said:

The 4k bonus for Deviousness is a nice placeholder for now but they do need to give some buffs for certain killer powers. The 1 category that needs to be reworked is Sacrifice. I think it is impossible for a killer to get max in that category even with a perfect 12 hook , 4k game.

You get more BPs for sacrifices during EGC. MAYBE with that you can do it.

  • @Caiman said:

It's most common in older killers. New killers get points for doing anything with their power. Skull Merchant gets points for deploying drones, recalling drones, looking at her radar, attacking survivors next to her drones, etc. Chucky gets points just for activating his power. Wraith doesn't get rewarded just for going ding-dong invisible.

The amount of points is kinda off too. With Plague, often times survivors stay injured so you get the devious points for the initial infection, then brutality for 1 hit per chase. If you pick up your red puke...it's 100 points. You'd think it would be more for something you really don't do a whole lot. Feel like they should bolster this by giving extra point gain to downing fully infected people at least. Make it similar to how GF gets points for stalking survivors, then more devious points for downing the stalked survivor.

  • Use to be OoO back before its change. Would be annoying playing Huntress with her fairly small TR and NEVER being able to hit any shot from range. I remember getting one on basement hook and then just standing at the stairs while shaking my head no at any survivor who showed up to get the save. I'll TAKE that 1k, lol.

I wish it would make the hatch spawn closer to the last Survivor (unless a hatch offering is played, of course). I hate hatch offerings, because they also let the Killer know where it'll spawn...

Hatch spawn is determined at the start of the trial, it's just no one can see it.

  • It's a mixed bag for me. Sometimes I get potatoes who do my job for me so much I'd swear they were bots. The type of ppl who will cleanse against Plague, only to immediately a touch a dirth gen. Other times I have to assume I got backfilled into a lobby I clearly wasn't meant for.

I don't see why you would compare them to Xeno at all. Neither have mobility or the capability to be a pseudo stealth killer with monitor + abuse.

Xeno can have insane mobility on some maps, and can instantly get to gens that normal 115 killers almost have to forfeit (top of dead dawg, mothers dwelling, etc come to mind). That actually gives him options to drop a chase and not have it be a game-throwing decision like it would be for your average 115 killer on a large map.

Pyramid head goes down to 110 while using the ranged attack and it's super telegraphed and easy to dodge at range unless you are animated locked.

Nemesis whip is objectively better than the Xeno tail, but still, has the 3 health state problem which can't be overstated in a game where the first chase is arguably the most important, and also when all the best gen defense perks rely on you hooking someone in the current meta. Xeno gets the ball rolling so much faster than Nemesis ever will and it puts him miles ahead in terms of power even if Nemesis ends up stronger by the endgame.

I would also argue that you only need 1 anti-flamethrower addon and even then, with good tail whips you could get away with none

The stealth is kinda overshadowed when the flame throwers give away your approach. They beep when you approach, even when underground and it's obvious where you're gonna pop up from.

  • @Hensen2100 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3634185#Comment_3634185

DBD is also a snowball game, and it's very realistic for Xeno to be chasing someone within the first 10-15 seconds of a match starting; without needing to run lethal pursuer

The tail damages straight away and doesn't give the survivors 8(!!) extra health states to work with

Plus he does have some pretty ridiculous addon options. Having almost permanent superior anatomy would be super strong on even an M1 killer, let alone on a 115 ranged one

The range is lackluster. It's hard not to compare it to Pyramid head's base range of 8 or Nemi who starts at 5 and goes to 6. As for addons, while sure he has some handy ones like the purple one you mentioned, there's a reason people pick the anti-flamethrower ones. You HAVE to be in crawler mode to benefit from most of them, and being removed from your ability is a problem Nemi and PH don't have.

  • His tail is kinda lackluster when you start looking at stats. His tail's reach is less than Nemi's T1 whip and has a longer cooldown than even a M1. Makes it feel like your being punished for using it when you couldve M1ed instead. It also doesn't have the benefits like pallet breaks and such.

His map traversal is nice if you have to cross the map, but it doesn't feel like it makes up for a power that just feels bad AND can be removed.

  • @Batusalen said:

Well, it could mean two things really:

    • That you are above the 1600 MMR with another killer, so when you start playing with a new one his MMR would be higher (1200 MMR, iirc) and you are already on the top bracket of the MMR again with Nemesis.
    • That those P100 have a lot of hours played (as that's really what prestige marks), but not that much skill (something more common that you could think) so they are low MMR.

Either way, this is one of the reasons why they should start showing our MMRs in game, to have a better idea of how this things could happen.

I don't even have any characters past P3 yet, lol. This is due to playing on different platforms with long breaks in between. Atm I'm sitting pretty at 215 hours so yeah... when I get a lobby with 10+ times that, I'm scratching my head.

  • @Skillfulstone said:

I'm a Nemesis main (although maybe not for long if the gen update and STBFL nerf aren't changed) might change to Wesker or Blight (Birkin skin ftw).

I've been playing alot of Nemi lately. He's probably gonna be my next killer I P3. I don't think the gen changes are gonna negatively affect me on him. Doing away with gen tapping will probably result in a net positive.

As for STBFL... I wasn't using it on him anyway since his tentacle strike has a faster cooldown than normal M1s anyway. Just seemed like a better idea to try to power up TS asap rather than go for M1s and getting STBFL stacks.

It's still hilarious if it happens without the other side doing anything though.

I'm just talking about when ppl DC because you down them too quickly, not because you stood on top of them for 4 minutes as they bled out. I had someone instantly DC against my P0 Trapper yesterday because The chase ended too quickly for their liking.

But wouldn't the 7 seconds of god mode be counteracted by the fact that the survivors do gens really slow or giving a 10% regression to wake up? I didn't read anything about freddy's power that said it had a cooldown so I'm assuming you could have just done a sort of hit and run style and put someone to sleep and go to someone else.

While the slowdown does make waking up more of a priority, it wasn't difficult to do. Awake survivors can wake up teammates in no time. Self care was actually Meta back then, so ppl could fail healing skillchecks mid chase even. Failing a skillcheck during the 7 second transition period would also just cancel falling asleep. If multiple ppl are asleep on a gen, 1 missed skillcheck wakes up everyone. Doesn't help that adrenaline wakes you up too... Last gen pops and those exit gates WILL be opened because you can't hit the survivor opening them.

Freddy also had no movement ability back then, so he had to walk across the map to do hit and runs, while HOPING the survivor wouldn't wake up before he got there. Basically reduced him down to feeling like Wraith with a 7 second uncloak and no increased speed.

They introduced the incapacitated status effect later, which I feel would've helped him drastically in preventing survivors from finishing gens, waking themselves up via self care, cleansing totems, etc during the 7 second transition. Seriously... give this to old Freddy and maybe a traversal ability and he'd be fairly solid.

Although if i remember correctly originally shadowborn was even wider. I saw gameplay of it on original wraith. Idk if thatd still work as a option this late in. But never know.

I just know I saw someone using 180 FOV for giggles and yeah... the character models and camera just broke it. Obviously this is an extreme, but BHVR probably just wanted to try a range that's already in the game before pushing the limits.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

I was hoping the FoV could go up to 110 horizontal FoV.

We got the most underwhelming FoV slider in the entire world. This has to be the smallest FoV range of any FoV slider ever. It really feels like BHVR wants to try as hard as possible to give killers the absolute bare minimum with this feature.

This is still the only major quality of life or accessibility feature announced for killers, and we got the bare minimum possible. It’s just so sad. Survivors got so much thought and effort placed into the Survivor HUD.. and killers basically got a Shadowborn toggle in their options menu. Yes, it’s technically an FoV slider, but I really think a lot of people were expecting a wider range, considering that’s how all the other FoV sliders work.

It's probably because that range is tried and true. They KNOW Shadowborn's FOV works. There's videos out there of ppl who have tweaked the FOV scale to allow for more and it just kinda breaks things. You have floating hands and such.

Maybe, but how did she know my location so accurately? I was hiding in Jungle Gym, and it is impossible for her to know my exact location and exactly where I was hiding, even if a crow flies.

Without a video or something, I can't really say much other than prediction. If a crow tipped her off you were there, she could have just tried swinging at a likely place such as a pallet or a corner where survivors tend to stop to check killer position from.

Any chance you set off a crow? It COULDVE been a cheater, but I've also seen plenty of videos where it'll show a survivor player freaking out going "HOW DID THEY SEE ME!!!" Then it switches to the killer POV and it blatantly shows the survivor running behind that rock 5 seconds prior.

BHVR: We introduced a perk so killers can't hear footsteps while the survivor is healthy

Grim embrace-coulda been interesting if it worked on 2 and 4 hooks instead of each hook up to the 4th. So its not blocking as often.

Stbfl:only lose stacks if the killer power or thing is damaging you to remove plot twist and ftp abuse.

    How about you?

Sometimes I wish they'd make killer specific sounds in general not play for the killer, or at least not as loud. Do I REALLY need to hear Huntress hum all game? So yeah... a change for Billy's saw's sound at least for the Billy player would be nice.

  • Did you see what perks and addons they were using?

  • @Nick said:

With cherry blossom add-on all Spirit will feel like cheaters. To create more counterplay the developers reworked her add-ons but then for some reason added the cherry blossom add-on.... which removes counterplay...?

But in case that Spirit wasn't using that add-on, very good Spirits can feel like cheaters because they don't rely as much on suvivor mistakes but with intuition and sound can feel very "oppressive". On top of that they can use expensive headsets and/or sound equalizer software. With EQ they can even filter with presets for every survivor. So if they see an Ace, Dwight, Ada and Bill in their lobby they can select those 4 presets and the EQ will have the best filter settings for their sounds. (Which, in my opinion, is borderline cheating. If not cheating)

Lastly, if a person is going to cheat on killer it will most likely be on a Spirit. As you'd always be able to explain suspicious situations. I've had 2 or 3 suspicious Spirits in my time of playing where I kept their Steam64ID and every now and then checked their profile to find out they got a gameban after a while (Now anon mode will make that impossible).

Not to forget a well known Spirit main streamer, who played for a competitive team, I won't drop names I guess, got banned twice for using cheats. You could see on her stream it often looked like she was cheating, as she was never really looking for survivors. Especially at the end of the game she would always "run into" survivors, without really scanning around. Even though I really had a feeling she was cheating, you can never 100% prove it. Even when watching from her perspective, and by that time I had nearly 2k hours of playtime on Spirit myself. I could never figure out how she was always able to perfectly grab the survivor from the generator (with old Prayer Beads), without "feeling around" the gen. Even I would sometimes be on the wrong side of the generator. She just phased straight up and grabbed instantly, always correct, even though by blindly guessing you have to be on a wrong side of a 4-sided gen at some point. On top of this she was constantly talking, about all kinds of things, when playing SPIRIT! Also when phasing she was talking about "her time in the army" or about the weather or whatever. And still phases always perfect, grabs always perfect, every game a 4k.

Do you have any videos or something showing ppl with these Ace presets and such? I don't even know how that would work.

  • Sounds like you are REALLY doing something wrong if you're chasing the same survivor for extended amounts of time as Legion. If someone is running you around the map from pallet to pallet... Stop chasing them. FF to their teammates and youll have injured survivors trying to work with less resources.

He doesn't need 4 gen regression perks... People get in the mindset that more gen regression perks=better. You are hampering other aspects when you do this. If you are consistently struggling to the point you have to vent on the forums about it, maybe that's a sign to change something.

He would lose badly against Freddy Krueger even outside the dreamworld when he has no powers. Why ? Because he went 1v1 vs Jason Voorhees to a stalemate... in hand to hand combat , no powers.

Neither of them were fighting hand to hand. Freddy had his claws and Jason his machete. Also Jason won that fight. The existence of a winking Freddy head being carried around by Jason doesn't imply a draw.

Heck, that fight was also fought at Camp Crystal lake, where Jason is arguably at his weakest.

  • Some of his addons feel pretty pointless. He also feels powerless on maps like Lery's. A survivor can basically hold W for every window they can find and make it basically impossible to close distance. Fortunately it's not many maps that makes him feel so powerless. Maybe increasing control after vaulting during slice and dice could fix this, but currently... there's not a whole lot of point in using this part of his kit since you are so restricted in where you can run to after the vault.

you could just give it max charges or something.

like, can be activated 6-7 times maximum during a match. be it by tokens going down or it just shutting off after the number of uses

Currently the team can use it a maximum of 5 times in which you have to find all 5 totems rather than benefit off a single totem multiple times. It's a shared resource.

I present the only proof needed...

  • Unfortunately this isn't something you can really test on PTB unless you do KYF. Bring a killer like Hag on PTB to try 3-genning and ppl will just DC since it's not Billy, Blight or Onryo.

There are possible reasons for those examples. The Hag may not set off her Hex Traps because she isn't setting a Hex on herself. She would be able to manipulate the magic, casting it so that it won't impact on her.

As for the Clown, he wheezes and coughs a heck of a lot and has been around that potion he makes for so long he's probably adjusted to it somehow. The toxic effects have probably weakened, like someone who has too much caffeine and such. It's probably nothing to him now.

Bear Traps are physical, cold and work at a very basic level. No magic to make them sentient enough to know who their master is; no getting used to the blades slashing through flesh. Plus I doubt the Trapper gained any favours from fighting against the Entity. He has to make wraps to protect himself.

That's the realism reason for it. It could be argued that Trapper shouldn't be affected, but I tend to herd Survivors into Traps, rather than walk over Traps. I guess it's not so much an issue.

Realistically it would make sense for an experienced user of bear traps to have mastered the art of... stepping over the trap. It makes no sense for random survivors to be more able to walk around bear traps than the guy who placed them to begin with.

Makes alot more sense than the idea that Clown is immune to anesthesia.

It’s a physical bear trap. What happens when someone walks into it?

And by that logic, why isn't Hag triggering her own traps. Do the traps KNOW who is walking past them? Why does Clowns gas not slow down Clown?

  • Disney just lost the copyright rights to Micky Mouse. Maybe we can see a more where he shoves a mouskitool down someone's throat, lol.

I think the same. Why MacMillan and AutoHeaven take place in the same planet Earth being different realms.

But 2 alien maps that must be different planets being the same realm

They're the same planet. Just different biomes.

The real question is what purpose does the meter actually serve at all. Without kindred there is no way for a solo team to know someone is being camped without going to investigate. And in the process of doing that, the meter gets slowed down to a crawl and almost never results in self unhook anyway.

Would be nice if ppl utilized hook gymnastics

  • They figured out how to let Chucky hook ppl. Maybe... this could be included in a Twins buff.

  • @Nazzzak said:

It's the usual. Alot of Twins slug so they've kind of got a reputation, alot of people just prejudge and opt out I think. I rarely see Twins so for the sake of variety I don't see the point in opting out but it is what it is.

Until Victor learns how to hook survivors, slugging as Twins is kinda required.
