I said pretty much the same. My 9 and 7 year olds have been massive FNAF fans for years. The toys and books and various merch are targeted towards kids (under 10/12) - i know first hand because my kids want it all. I understand why BHVR wanted to do this collab, but I just hope they understand that the playerbase's demographic may drastically change. Kids also don't have the income that adults have to buy cosmetics (arguably a big income source for the game) and they risk alienating older players who can afford them . And if they get as big an influx of new players as I suspect they will, specifically because of FNAF, I can guarantee most survivor games will be against Springtrap. The lack of variety may also drive players away.

To add, I'm not saying there aren't adult fans because of course there are. I'm saying though that FNAF has marketed itself to kids repeatedly over the years, so people cannot deny that this collab will attract the attention of kids too.

The income argument is actually quite wrong... It wasn't older gamers that was buying Vbuck cards when I use to work retail. It was children spending their allowance/birthday money, or parents that would buy it for their kids. Free games like Roblox and Fortnight with their huge young audiences aren't in a situation where they are just surviving off their adult playerbase alone.

The rest of this conversation is whatever, I have no strong opinions on any of it... but the cosmetics part is just horribly false. This is the best franchise BHVR can grab due to sheer cosmetic variety.

It is true that when you use a Sacrificial Ward you MIGHT still get sent to a map offering someone put in, but that doesn't mean the Sacrificial Ward didn't work. It just means you randomly still got that map. This topic comes up off and on over the years. If you don't like Map Offerings, you can try to stop them. There are lots of things I don't like seeing put in, either as add-ons, maps, etc. but I accept it is part of the game. Sometimes I like to throw in a map. Sometimes I ride the lightning to do it random. Usually I end up going where someone sends me with their offering. It has not affected my enjoyment of the game.

I'm suppose to have a sac ward for EVERY game I play to avoid other people stacking the odds before we even load in? If it was a reusable offering or something and I just had to eat the fact I can't use a BP offering if I wanted to ensure fairness, it would be different. You're asking for the impossible.

It will still be a boring mode to play, it just wasn't exciting at all and having classes wouldn't change that. I also generally like to be able to see what's going on with relatively clear vision, hence why I don't really like The Dredge much either, but alas Nightfall is at least more tolerable than Lights Out.

I feel like the classes WOULD improve it. The various classes help solve different aspects. Finding gens would be easier with the gen related class finding and sharing info with teams.

The runner class would help prevent freebee hits for you+teammates that limited vision and 0 TR scored killers. Things would obviously need to be tweaked for the killer side too but... it's an interesting idea.

It seems you want the game to end with a 4K once 2 survivors are dead if there is more than 1 gen left to complete.

I hoped those long killer queue times were a wake up call for what happens if you continuously repel from playing survivor. But nope. Some gotta learn the hard way.

It seems like you stopped reading and jumped to conclusions. This post was about trying to get rid of the end of many matches which consists of survivors trying to outlast their teammate rather than do objectives and killers slugging for the 4k. I don't understand how you equated that to "wanting a 4k after 2 die". It's just to speed up what would otherwise be a long drawn out end. Survivors could still do gens and maybe both escape... 1 survivor could get hatch OR they both die. The above solution does not give an advantage to the killer that would somehow result in a 4k they wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

  • @pa4n said:

I don't like it either. When it happens i just tab out and watch a video or do some small things IRL. For some strange reason it annoys me more when it happens to a streamer/youtuber…I can't tell exactly why^^….

When i play killer I rarely do it.

The only time i dot it is when 2 survivors are left i down one of them and can see the 4th…then i might do it but not every time. IMO the game is over at that point so i think it is better for anyone to move on.

Also i think finding the hatch and maybe one last chase is more exciting then searching for 1 dude^^

That's where I'm at. If I already SEE the last guy, I don't wanna lose track of him while I'm hooking his teammate. Otherwise though... I'll hook and hope for the best.

The problem is everything they add to help new Survivors, just makes SWFs and strong Survivors much stronger, and that much more able to smash the weaker half of the roster. That's not fair to THOSE Killers, and it shouldn't be the way the game is balanced.

The Devs added more pallets and windows, that was a mistake and made playing lower tiers very hard, ruining Killer diversity.

They added a HUD and there's people who still want more info. They added beginner friendly perks to help like Deadline but they're locked behind paid content. They added everything but comms, and they should not add comms IMHO.

They added an AFC and genkick limit, and that didn't help. They buffed sabotage. They gave us tons of generator speed perks to help. They gave us chase perks, aura perks, antitunnel. Half of them are locked behind paywalls.

There's visual and audio cues, and nobody teaches them any of that. Nobody says to the noob, "look for yellow fabric on windows, those are vaults and those mean safety", they just go "just slap on Alert and WoO, you're good" and then people never learn how to properly loop. That causes people to demand MORE loops that are safer so they can win easier, MORE filler pallets, bigger maps. That hurts the weaker Killers for no reason, and so more people play the stronger ones that are harder to counter.

Then Survivors win when they group with their strong friends in SWF, get boosted, and they get Killers they can't handle and get MMR locked. None of that helps.

And almost ALL of this is stuff advanced Survs can use to make life miserable for the weaker Killers and new Killers. Look what everyone did that was good with the billion pallets, big maps, and crazy boosts in 2v8, they rapidly realized what it was and took to it like with the old versions of maps with 10,000 pallets. In a mode with two M1s, an M2 that was nerfed, an M2 that takes some practice to use and has many counters to her M2, and the lone superpowered Killer of the bunch Nurse.

What more can BHVR give to help at this point? What more can they give that doesn't give Killer players the shaft and unhelpfully boost newer Survs to where they do not belong? At some point you can't do bandaid fixes anymore. You have to have something to help train new people or lock them into a beginner's queue with other beginners, period. No MMR, no Killers above a certain hour threshold allowed, only newbies. And a better tutorial. Problem is IDK how you'd do the former without strong players going into that mode to stomp.

Maybe they could have a newbie gamemode like you were suggesting and limit the perks used. We could do pre-made setups similar to what 2v8 does instead of custom loadouts, or just limit everyone to picking 4 general perks.

IMO there are two ways to nerf Weave Attunement and still keep it decent:

    • Let it only show the Aura while the Item has charges.
    • Or - no Aura is shown when the Survivor is crouching and they get information where the Item is.

Number 1 would weaken the synergy with Franklins. Which would be fine IMO. They could buff it to compensate for it.

Number 2 would provide meaningful counterplay and, even more important, gives a way to actually locate the Item. Knowing that Weave Attunement is in play is nice, but you will have to perform some form of triangulation to actually find it.

The main problem is anyway that the counterplay is pretty bad, since it still gives huge value to the Killer (Aura Read two times, Oblivious and a big time sink) and that Survivors who want to perform the counterplay might not be able to do so, since they dont know where the Item is.

You'd need to change how the perk functions if it only shows auras if the item has charges since currently... the perk itself doesn't cause a dropped item tili is out of charges.

i mean they could do a whole bunch of things but usually, when they make changes, they make sure killer's reward is 0 or irrelevant. Like freddy slowing himself down to 100% defeating purpose of hindering for 15%. The reason why they do that is because it makes dummy proof for to outplay the killer.

It makes you believe that your outplaying the killer when in reality killer is just bad. People that think they're outplaying freddy snares are just silly. It will be same thing for merchant. if you think your outliving claw trap and looping the lasers, you're just being silly. BVHR makes sure it doesn't take any skill. It makes survivor feel good that they're having fun. it makes them believe that that they're good at the game.

Let's see what the changes are before judging. As it stands, this whole thing is people making up nerfs and calling those ideas terrible.

you can expect changes like lower haste scaling, lower hindered duration, lower arm trap duration as survivor dislike changing loops so this makes easier to outlive trap duration, hacks disable drones for longer then 45 seconds since survivor dislike secondary objectives… so maybe 120 seconds and probably something for new players, like if you fail drone hack, instead of gaining lock-on stack, you still disable the drone. this allows new player to not be oppressed by her drones thus lowering kill-rate for lower-level. stuff that just makes freddy-tier bad.

HHonestly, they might just introduce something to allow survivors to rid themselves of lock on stacks. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for a survivor to be able to get rid of stacks by hacking drones while not in chase.

Yeah I was wondering that gens seem to regress quicker than 200%. That just free regression only requirement is to kick gens.

I feel like alot of ppl don't know how good gen kicking is in this gamemode. On one side... 8 survivors means you have more ppl to quickly stop the regression but since all killers have NWTH on crack, you tend to find everyone who would be swooping in for that.

  • @jajay119 said:

There is no such thing as a god pallet. Break it and it’s gone. The vault is also right next to a door which is a loop easily broken, predicted and countered by most killers.

God pallets are any pallet that is so safe that they MUST be broken in order to continue once its tossed down. Theyre completely safe. Many pallets can be left alone and played around.

  • 300% actually... it's an EXTRA 200% regression speed.

  • @Jareth said:

This happens in other maps and the normal game as well. That one in particular seems to be the buggiest, I'm surprised it hasn't been kill switched.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

There isn't enough map variety in 2v8 as is. There aren't enough maps for one to be kill switched.

4 maps is fine for a gamemode that lasts 2 weeks...

  • Only real technical issue I've seen is on Azarov's, which is a buggy mess.

  • Keep in mind... "increased by 200%" means the regression speed is 300%. It's pretty potent.

I'd win all games with an uncomfortable margin if they had ten gens to do.

So were my first games. Then next games it because clear that unless survivors decide to throw, there's little killers can do because 1 down can now cost 3 or more gens unless killers spread wide, in which case they have no synergy perks working.

I'd rather have those perks replaced with something that does grant a slowdown. Killers desperately need it in this mode because gens fly way too quickly.

For reference gens get done in 35 - 40 seconds if there's a guy with gen repair class so all it takes a group of 2 or 3 survivors to slam gens while the rest do keep killers busy.

The only moment when killers shine is when they sandwich a single survivor. Ironically this often does cost 2 or more gens in the process. Additionally caged survivors often end up teleported near other survivors so there isn't much gained from spreading hooks by any means. As killer, you need to get as many people out as possible asap and pray that survivors create a circle of generators that 2 killers can effectively patrol and defend. If not, there's nothing much you can against 3 gates and 2 hatches.

The ONLY match I've seen where survivors dominated was due to exploits... Im gonna have to see some proof of survivors playing legit slamming out gens before I really put much stock into the idea that killer is the underdog here. My own experience is the polar opposite.

  • @Green_Sliche said:

The mode is way too survivor sided and barely any fun as for a killer ( unless you 2 man pre-made ) :

    1. Too many gens to defend and no gen defence.
    2. Too many pallets and chests means survivors have way too much resources, on top of perks.
    3. Most of the time killers have to spread out in order to cover more area which means half of killer perks that require them to ''work together'' often does nothing. The remaining 2 perks are not enough.
    4. Only mobility killers stand a chance. Killers like trapper are almost useless and Nurse requires way too much effort to be useful.

The mode is chaotic but unfortunately it's often a double-stress session for killers because they can't commit any chase for longer than few seconds or they risk losing 2 or 3 gens per down. It's almost impossible to keep up unless survivors suddenly stop doing gens and begin to throw. Unfortunately after watching the 2v8 videos and playing 2v8 myself my suspicion was confirmed and balance is way too shifted towards survivors and tools that killers have are counter-productive instead.

This isn't even remotely true. While it's true that you don't want to be hugging your teamate all game, you ARE gonna have opportunityto provide assists. The powers have also been tweaked, so playing as Trapper for example feels WAY different than normal. So far I've played 3 survivor matches and 2 killer matches as soloQ (Wraith and Trapper) and EVERY match was a win for the killer team.

Shards? I've got more than 250K and have not idea what to spend them on.

  • @Mooks said:

I buy the original characters with shards. And then some cosmetics I like. Usually only for survs as you don’t see your cosmetics for killers in match and therefore the rift ones are enough for me.

that said, I just bought the Were-Elk for 35k shards!! Got extra shards from cross progression as I collected them on switch from events and stuff. I can’t play huntress at all, but 2v8 I gotta try like this, looking forward to miss every hatchet with style

8 survivors means your more likely to hit ppl...

  • Right? Lol

You get more BPs as survivor no matter HOW the match plays out.

Im seeing the usual complaints of tunneling and such. I've played afew games as each role and can tell ya... NO ONE is purposefully tunneling and such. Between there being 8 survivors to try to keep track of and having a teammate getting their own hooks, who would be able to keep track of hook states? You get sent to a random location when hooked that the killer doesn't know of on an extra large map.

There's like NO tactics taking place. Just killers swatting at whoever they see. Typically survivors unhook, double up on heals, then hop on the closest gen. As killer, I look around gens... typically see 3 survivors together and just start doing as much damage as possible. This mode is silly and REALLY shouldn't be taken so serious.

  • The tome challenges doesn't exactly help for this. Half the challenges are for killer with 1/5 the people getting to pick killer. Feel like setting them up so it's possible to complete as either role would be a step in the right direction.

The idea of getting tunneled is kinda meh. With there being 2 killers and 8 survivors, it's hard for EITHER killer to keep track of hook states. I'm not memorizing the left side of the screen to see who my teammate is hooking, and I highly doubt anyone else is either.

  • If you don't want to play the extra completely separate gamemode... don't play it. The inclusion of this mode has no negative impact whatsoever on the normal mode. N

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3764143#Comment_3764143

It literally takes a few seconds.

First of all, if you get hit, and lose the item, why are you trying to stop mid chase? The range on it is only 12 meters, you gain more than that much distance before the killer can even move from the wipe animation. In fact, you gain almost 15 meters. So why are you staying near your dropped item after being hit? You are begging to be downed again anyway, and weave had nothing to do with it. You should be spending the speed boost you get going somewhere else.

Secondly, once the chase is over, either through you getting hooked, and then unhooked, or by escaping the chase. Once things are safe, if the item is in a bad spot that gives too much aura reading, you run back over to it, pick it up, walk to a nearby edge of the map, press r, then run to a nearby gen or other objective to do. And now what? The killer has 2 perk slots.

Thirdly, it is stupid easy to see if the killer has weave, and/or franklins. Franklins is obvious, and weave causes oblivious, so if you suddenly get oblivious when near an item, sure bet that they probably have the perk.

It is certainly worth spending the 10-15 seconds or so, to completely negate 2 of the killer's perks. Also, if they are running this combo, that is 2 more perks they have where they are NOT running slowdown, meaning that you should be able to finish gens faster.

This perk combo has a ridiculously simple and easy counter. And blaming "my teammates" for not being able to do that counter is stupid. You do not make balance decisions on the lowest common denominator of player. And if you do, then when are they going to massively buff the nurse? Because nurse is by far one of the lowest kill rate killers in the game. And surely if weave needs a nerf because people are too bad to do a simple counter, then obviously killer players are so bad they need to buff nurse.

I suck at Nurse, clearly she needs a buff, lol.

  • @Predated said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3764158#Comment_3764158

lol, when? The only perks even coming close to some killer aura perks are Kindred and Wiretap, both absolutely 100% valid and easy to counter in their own way.

Imagine if a boon got killer aura reveal. Or if a dead survivor means permanent aura reading within 20 meters of where that survivor died. Or everytime a pallet is dropped, the killer aura is revealed within 12 meters of that dropped pallet.

Seriously, survivors do NOT get aura readings the way killers to constantly. And even the aura perks that ACTUALLY do similar things at similar costs (like BBQ and Dark Sense, or Bitter Murmur and Dark Sense) often share that they suck in 90% of the cases.

Actually... survivors DO have an aura reading perk that tends to show killer auras pretty often. Alert shows killer aura every time a pallet, breakable wall or gen is kicked. It's also map wide. Considering how many breakable walks basically HAVE to be kicked to prevent what would otherwise be a god loop, or the pallets that HAVE to be kicked because of how safe they are... This 1 perk shows killer aura aton.

I'm not saying Alert needs to be nerfed, just pointing out that both sides aura reading are actually pretty comparable.

u know the bug department and the art department are not the same department right? they could pump out 600 cosmetics next week and that still wont be the bug department just art designers and the marketing departments.

You say that until the new Claudette cosmetic (specifically the left shoe) becomes responsible for Nurse blinking backwards for some reason.

  • Well... you yourself just said prestige doesn't equal skill. This is even more so after everyone lvled characters like crazy after the anniversary event. Your MMR probably dropped significantly after being away for 8 months. I got to experience this same thing the other way around. I stayed away from my usual role this past week and played some survivor.

My first game was against a Clown who was BRAND new. I'm pretty sure it was his first game ever. He had 0 perks or addons on a P0 Clown and I guess didn't know about breakable walls or even his own ability...

  • I just wonder how some of these bugs even happen. They often times have bugs hit live right after doing a PTB that never had the bug. They ALSO often will have bugs on the most random thing. How did Wesker get bugged on an update that didn't touch Wesker? It's like "We updated Billy and 3 random killer perks...and it broke lockers".

No disingenuousness, only complete ignorance. As I say, I’m a low mmr player so my perspectives may be limited.

But you make a good point. It can help expert players at a glance when it comes to dead zones. However I will offer a counter anecdotal experience in that I have played against Survivors that I know pay attention to pallets and the deadzones. I’ve played Survivors that don’t run WoO but for sure keep track of what pallets they have and haven’t seen.

I tried to say that experts get “very little” but I see it still came off as ONLY. Again, it’s just my ignorance. Thanks for keeping me sharp. Hope you have fun matches @LordGlint

Keeping track of used pallets is fairly easy on open maps like blood lodge. Maps like The Game however results in many cases of turning the corner and only finding splinters on the ground. Doesn't help that there's very few window vaults which would be permanent tools to use. That's one reason that I use Blindness addons on killers like Freddy who have them.

  • @HerInfernalMajesty said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/421477/when-will-the-developers-finally-adapt-windows-of-opportunity

As I understand it, Windows of Opportunities is a beginner-ish perk that allows less experienced Survivors to have info that lets them run tiles at an intermediate level.

There’s very little the perk can give to an expert player. It can be annoying chasing from pallet to pallet but at that point I just either commit to the chase to break pallets or disengage to hopefully catch a Survivor out of position.

Not really arguing for a nerf, just feel like it's disingenuous to claim this perk ONLY is useful to newbies. Most pallets have multiple places they can spawn. Memorizing the map won't let you know which pallet location is currently in play. It also won't let you know which pallets have also been used by teammates. This is EXTRA helpful on indoor maps like The Game where you cant check if a pallet is used or not from afar.

  • The devs are never going to punish people for playing with their friends, or implement changes who's only function would be to promote lobby dodging. You can do all the mental gymnastics you want on claiming it's for balance... but its not happening.

  • No, you can only use the account on one device at a time.

It's only for DLC purchases, which are purchased via platforms as far as I'm aware, DLC's are not purchaseable in-game.

So buying Nick Cage via auric cells and buying Nick Cage through steam is considered different with regardto the iri shard refund? Also, if I buy the stranger things DLC pack for example... is that counted as 1 or 3?

no you wouldn't, the shards are only when you first link accounts, anything purchased after is not counted.

Will I be getting shards for duplicate DLC I bought via the in-game store on my switch account or no?

  • We already had Legion with being able to mix and match cosmetics for multiple characters. I doubt it'll be a problem with this. I wouldn't expect too many FREE cosmetics from licensed characters in general. When we do get cosmetics for licensed characters, it's typically Auric cell purchases.

I’m not understanding the family sharing thing. I have it set as my home Xbox and my family has accounts on it and they have access to the dlc. Should I take it off as my home Xbox?

Think of it like this... you currently have multiple profiles on that Xbox that have access to the same DLC that was purchased 1 time. 1 person owns the key to that DLC and every other account on the xbox is borrowing the keys to them. With the cross progression, they have to limit how much that 1 purchase can be shared. If you did not purchase the DLC using the profile you are trying to link with steam, the borrowed DLC isn't going to go to steam.

yes I did that already and on Steam like I said it shows I own all the outfits and stuff for all of the characters and when I view them they’re leveled and everything but won’t let me access any of the killers or survivors except the base ones. It’s saying I need to purchase them again even though I purchased all killers and survivors on Xbox. Everything else synced fine like currencies and levels and cosmetics. I just cant access killers or survivors

What other platform are you linking? I know there's some limitations for switch accounts.
