Which is why i said it needs an update and should have been in the quality of life update. We know there’s about to be an influx of new players so i don’t think queue times would be that much affected anyways. if i was new player and seen how the blocked “list” works, why would i want to play the game? Being forced into matches with survivors/killers i don’t want to play with isn’t fun and ruins the quality of the game.
The game already has a hard enough time matching players together amongst their own skill level. The game would then also need to find 4 other players you haven't blocked, haven't blocked each other, nor you. Wouldn't take crazy long block lists to essentially cripple matchmaking.
-
Got a giggle when I saw that somehow solo Q was doing better than those playing with a buddy.
-
Ive seen ppl use that to their advantage. They'll use the illusion, but then stay IN the illusion to finish working on the gen while the killer is looking around for the "real" survivor.
-
Saw this post and decided to go ahead and do a quad totem build on Freddy last night. Been taking a break from DBD, so this was the first match in like...a month. Got 4 devour hope moris at 5 gens...

You make a valid point. Food for thought. 💭
I never thought about that 🤔
That's why they didn't toss the pallet until they got bit. If they tried to stun the dog mid charge or something, they might mess up the timing. Theres 0 risk if they LET the dog bite b4 dropping pallet though.
-
Feel like that 50 second mark really shows the biggest weakness to HM. if a survivor reaches a pallet and just camps it, the dog is useless. I really feel like there should be SOMETHING to prevent this, whether it's a delay between when a survivor can toss a pallet after a bite so it's not an immediate release, or maybe a slowdown for 2 seconds after the pallet stun (you DID just get bitten in the leg).

Yeah, I figured that part was implied, lol. OG Freddy's trademark was his mouth almost more than his glove. If an Englund Freddy were to come, he'd have to talk smack all match.
Would be really fun if he has specialized voicelines for different survivors. Maybe have him recognize Ash...
-
With all the voiceless they added with Chucky... I want a Freddy skin that TALKS. While not having classic Freddy is tragic, having a SILENT Freddy REALLY breaks it for me. Would be great if they gave him lines when he downed someone or when someone stuns him or something.
-
Looks almost like a mix of Twins and Artist. Completely different killer playstyle similar to how Freddy got completely changed from his release version with essentially 0 comparisons. I'll wait til I can try it before determining if it's weak or not, but... either way, it ain't skull merchant anymore.
-
I really feel like this was one of those times where it would've done alot of good to read more into the subject before complaining about it. This isn't being setup to allow ppl to ragequit, but rather to avoid being bledout for 4 minutes.
-
If you go into your console settings, you SHOULD be able to control who can message you. Many ppl have it set to friends only.
-
I haven't actually spent much time at all on new Freddy so... can't really answer this one for ya.

I agree with some of those, like Nurse and Blight who could really use a longer power recovery time, a lot of those you mentioned are punished for it.
Clown can rethrow a bottle, but he has to reload soon after which costs him a lot of distance. And with Clown missing a bottle can be the difference between a survivor reaching a loop/fast vault in time or not. (Also it's Clown, the biggest punishment is playing him).
Pyramid Head can ready up another M2, but the survivor can easily just run off during the cool down and make distance. Similar with Dracula when he misses his fire pillars, but I'll admit not as punishing as Pyramid Head.
Trickster can spam knives, but if you do that you will have to reload. You don't lose much distance but you will lose pretty much your entire power if you keep missing and have to break chase. Huntress as well to a lesser extent.
Knight can throw out another guard if they don't detect anyone, but he has to wait until that guard actually de-spawns, leaving him without a power for the entire duration of their wasted hunt. That is honestly a huge punishment for missing.
Freddy missing his snares puts it on a 6 second cooldown. That's more than enough time to reach a loop or extend the one you are already at. If Freddy hits you even after he missed, he didn't need to use his power in the first place.
The main punishment in most killers is that you don't get the hit, which can always lead to the a survivor getting just enough time to make a loop that they wouldn't otherwise and now can use to extend the chase that probably would've been over had the killer not missed.
You can't really increase Nurse's power recovery time since she also needs it for basic movement. Nurse is naturally going to use Blinks to close distance on survivors and those Blinks arnt going to result in hits. Increasing the cooldown so Nurse can NEVER close distance wouldn't really work out.
-
Yeah, stuff like this highlights that your ping is based off more than your own internet connection. It's especially bad when matchmaking decides to place you on a server that's nowhere near you.

Isn't this going to be 4.0 now?

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/441127/a-question-for-the-veterans
I'm maybe not as huge a veteran as most but I think I can provide a somewhat satisfactory answer.
I enjoy the act of learning in this game. I enjoy trying to win from a position that seems unwinnable- on both sides. Pretty much the only time I don't have fun in this game is when the opposing team is going out of their way to make sure I'm not having fun - constant BMing or build/playstyles designed to frustrate an opponent - the best example I can think of that I found explicitly unfun to vs was getting facecamped by a tombstone myers so he could t3 and insta-mori me when i unhooked myself, so I just have to sit and wait out the 140 seconds.
But, when I'm not having fun for extended periods - which has happened - I quit. I take a break for a few weeks or months, returning when the content seems juicy. The last time I did this was last June - I quit early on into the Anniversary Event becuase I wasn't having a good time, and only returned to play Dracula on his release in late August almost two months later.
Forcing yourself to play something that's not fun, when games are meant to be fun almost all the time, is an awful thing to do to yourself. Go take a break, play something else and come back with a refreshed mindset when you feel ready to not DC enough matches to rack up a penalty.
I feel like more ppl need to have this mentality rather than racking up the DC penalty when they get too stressed out. I have no problem swapping to something else if I'm getting overly stressed. The only time I've DCed lately wasn't due to me ragequitting but due to what I'm ASSUMING was a bug. I had 3 stacks of PWYF on Plague and couldn't go fast enough to close distance on anyone…
I think for too many ppl, this is the ONLY thing they play.

- Yeah, if you smurf you will stomp, like I said though, bottom of the barrel survivors don't get placed with skilled killers. And it is undeniable that Pig and Sadako are balanced around low skill survivors. Sadako's entire second rework was because she pub stomped. And Pig, despite being one of the weakest killers has gotten constant nerfs because she gets high kill rates at low MMR. It certainly isn't because she is so oppressive against people who know what they are doing.
2. Given that they haven't made mention of getting undetectable with your drones, yet they did mention getting it from controlling your drones, I think it is fairly safe to assume they have gotten rid of it, just like they have with haste, hindered, and presumably deep wound.
Hacking her drone means she can't use it, and given that drone passively will do basically nothing, not allowing her to use them is a reward enough. Does Singularity need to be revealed or be in some way impacted when his bipods are disabled? No of course not, disabling them is the reward, and it should be the same for SM.
Your gonna give the devs new ideas about nerfing Singularity now...

They can publish whatever rubbish they think is the killer rate but it means nothing if they are counting dc and bleeding out as killer wins/strength.
Games with a disconnect are not ever counted in kill rates. If anyone disconnects at any point, the game is thrown out and doesn't count toward the kill rate in any way. The devs have confirmed this time and time again.
They also have a limited view of "giving up" in that they track (but usually don't give to the community), which is games where someone dies on their first hook. With the skull merchant, they actually gave those stats for her specifically, and it was about 2.5% difference. So in an "extreme case" it didn't change the value that much, since she went from a 71% insane kill rate to a 68% with no disconnects and no deaths on first hook (giving up).
That 2.5% number seemed SUPER low to me. Just in general, you have ppl giving up against any killer in way more games than that and SM had probably the highest suicide rate. It really makes me skeptical about the accuracy of the stats. I have back to back instant suicide attempts sometimes when I play PIG, with on average it happening in probably 20% of matches.

You need video evidence to back up cheater reports, so i guess the report player "because you lost" wont do anything unless you have video evidence that they broke the rules.
I've reported without video before. Got a message afew days later that actions were taken.

That sadly happens in a lot of games, sometimes even with a notice for you, my awnser is always: "Sure have fun, and see how wrong you are. Won't do anything because I didn't use an aimbot" (this example happened relatively often on huntress, but also on deathslinger somehow. How would this even work with the time difference until it hits) xD
I've seen someone using an aimbot for Trickster. The guy had that, wallhacks and was able to hit ppl through walls. He was downing ppl from across the map.

@Akumakaji said:
Yeah, that happens a lot, its this urge to hurt to one you humiliated you, any way possible, and this is just a convenient way for many. Its always funny when they say "for reports for cheating incoming" when you outperform them massively or your gamesenses tell you "the scratchmarks suddenly disappeared, lets check this locker here" and they go full on "how could you know that I was in that locker? Cheater!".
Everytime I go to reload as Huntress and accidentally get a survivor instead, I think about that.

They don't deserve respect. Respect is to be earned.
Ironically you managed to say that about the post that ISNT really being a crybaby. If you read it rather than assume anything, you'd know that. The general tone of the post is " Don't judge your opponents".

What exactly do you think this going to prevent? People will just sit there and do nothing. Afk/DC penalty? They'll just find something else to do or quit playing entirely. Maybe we should be focusing on why so many survivors give up so quickly. A lot of times they know if they get hooked first they'll get camped or tunneled out. And the whole stay in the match for your teammates is a joke. Half of survivors you get matched up will leave you on hook to die or won't ever take a hit for you.
Either make it possible so survivors still have a chance to play the match fairly or watch things continue as is.
If ppl are at that point where they're assuming the worst the second they get on hook, why bother logging on? So many ppl are killing themselves before the killer can even turn around, let alone camp and tunnel. If THOSE ppl wanna uninstall the game, I'm not gonna shed a tear about them leaving.

What does being SWF vs SoloQ have to do with hit validation?

Quick question: why is rage quiting common with survivors more than killers? Is it possible that the killer derives more fun for unfair play styles and tactics. If survivors know they will be banned for rage quitting and still do it doesn't that tell you something is very wrong?
You tunnel someone of the hook 3 times and the person is supposed to smile and play the next game happily (everyone is not a streamer)
Then we have chaos shuffle ( 2 people were given no mither and no perks to help them run or hide) they got tunnelled out of the game quick what did you expect the remaining two to do? Do gens and have fun? No, the remaining two are demoralized and less inclined to play.
Just asking, please don't shoot the Inquisitive student
Killers don't have an option to ragequit without penalty. The killer players that DO ragequit arnt able to keep doing it because they can't get into a match again.

Then the killer has an advantage if they can choose their strongest add-ons, but survivors can't choose items, leaving them with randomized garbage against a killer who uses meta add-ons. Nope.
I don't want sweat mode 2.0, I want a fun mode.
I'd also be fine with deactivating add-ons and items. And offerings too. Not a problem, not at all.
The main thing is that players have fewer opportunities to sweat, for that we have the normal 1v4.
In all fairness, some of those killer addons are just straight nerfs. Getting THOSE addons would feel awful.
-
I have games all the time where the killer sweats like crazy and slugs all 4 survivors. Maybe I should hop on survivor for awhile...

@Nazzzak said:
We've got so many perks in the game that I think it's simply a case of them not knowing what else to give us anymore. I do think this perk at least will give some value when against pre-dropping, which is a common complaint in this game.
You gotta think though... what kind of pallets are you working with that gets predropped and NOT broken? Typically if ppl are predropping a pallet, it's because it's pretty safe.

@100PercentBPMain said:

Automatically, which means you'd funnel the survivor to loop that dropped pallet with no concern of breaking because they either go down before the vault with the help of the slow, or soon after the vault at which point Knockout would have done it's job
That's what I was thinking
If the pallet is broken, there's no slow.
Edit, nvm... i get what your saying
-
@100PercentBPMain said:
It doesn't work if the pallet is broken? So it turns off? If that's how it works the perk might need some help from Dissolution or something like Iri Button maybe

@DBD78 said:
Has to be really bad or someone would have complained about it. It might be usable on Clown like one invisible purple bottle hitting but they should still reach the next loop? Sounds like it needs to be buffed.
The fact it doesn't work on broken pallets ruins it.

Pallets are the biggest counter. I've seen plenty of ppl just camp a pallet, LET themselves be bit, then pull the pallet to break free. If you pull pallet BEFORE the dog bites though, the killer can have the dog vault over.

No, because if you are OP Nurse/Blight main, you shouldn't be paired with not experienced survivors while trying Ghostface.
You know the maps, you know the tiles, you know the perks, you know totem spawns.
New players don't.
I didn't say new players. I'm saying if someone is starting a brand new character, the MMR of that character would be lower than their main. That doesn't mean new players.
-

Yes, but this obviously does not work when a player tries out a new Killer. You should know that by now, so I dont get your post. It would not make any sense to have people start at the lowest MMR when trying out a new Killer.
And after a while the MMR should settle itself.
Not the lowest, sure... but still should be lower than when they're playing with the characters they have experience with.
-
@DeBecker said:
Why do people expect to be on par with people that know what theyre doing while learning a new killer? This makes no sense and just shows the expected killer main bias.
Because each killer is more or less suppose to be matched with its own MMR. If the system works as intended, I should be matched with experienced survivors when playing my best killers and inexperienced survivors when playing my worst.
-
This is a game I had where for some reason I kept getting lag spikes. Clearly this gave me HUGE advantages... The weird survivor movements and rubberbanding were awesome. I checked my ping immediately afterwards to see it went back to 50. Sometimes...servers just suck.

Agreed. I still maintain that the +/- gen speed variation is the cause for both sides to feel bad about how fast they do(n't) get done. There are just too many ways to speed up or slow them down, and most of them just involve loadout choices for either side. Conceptually it just makes them impossible to balance until they're hemmed in from both directions. Addressing stacking (de)buffs regarding gen speed would be where I would start personally.
Was saying that awhile ago when forever Freddy was a thing. You could stack his addons with various perks to make healing and gen speeds take forever. Their fix... gut the addons and call it a day. Essentially made the addons by themselves completely useless since they were only adding like 2 seconds on a gen.
-
You can't play against bots like normal players. Mindgames and moonwalking are pointless since they have wall hacks. They also make dumb pathing mistakes though like running to the corner of the map to get easily hit rather than running to the next jungle gym.

I increased the killer sensitivity a bit from the default on PS4. When I tried to change the Switch sensitivity to match, the framerate couldn't handle it and it felt like the camera was always swinging wildly out of control. I have to keep sensitivity on Switch much lower than on PS4, so killer is either unplayable because the camera is unhinged or it's unplayable because survivors move faster than I can.
Analog sticks just can't compare to the precision of a mouse. Even in games with dead zone and response curve settings, the precision isn't mouse-level. DbD can't be bothered to have those settings despite no aim assist, no optional crosshair, and multiple ranged killers.
I can't stand Huntress on console. I tried playing her on PC for a minute when I had a chance and my lord, the difference. Not just being able to aim with the mouse but also the lack of input lag. It felt lovely.
People always talk of sensitivity, but the input lag difference between PC and console becomes very noticeable and impactful with things like skill checks and Huntress hatchets.
Even simple things is just SO much slower. Doing the double vault mindgame is slower because while I can turn 180 on a mouse in no time at all, it takes so much longer on controller. It's mindblowing why there hasn't been kb/m support for this long. I can use it on OTHER games...but not DBD.
-
I feel like the main issue with trying to balance this stuff is that survivor gen speed perks and toolboxes are available immediately for the most part and they all stack. The very first gen 5 seconds into the match can have its time halved essentially. Makes it really hard to balance gen speed because if you just increase the base gen time, it makes it too much for ppl who ARNT stacking this stuff.

Which platform do you play on now? What do you set Killer Camera Sensitivity to?
I was playing on switch for awhile, now I'm on PS5. My camera sensitivity is just the default. You kinda have to trade speed for control when you ramp it up, which makes it hard to play some tiles when you have to do things like turn 180 degrees as huntress while quickly focusing on a window to play killershack or something. Didn't have a problem doing that on PC with a mouse. I play alot less Huntress now.

I mean not really? It doesn't activate while you camp (obviously), and also not while you tunnel - you have to slug for a moment.
So I wouldn't say it counters anything else.
There's more in life than slugging, tunneling and camping, lol. I was saying with how quick it activates, you're essentially countering getting picked up. Unless the killer grabs you IMMEDIATELY without regard for anyone else in the area who could pull down the pallet, its gonna activate.
