Aww, thanks.

They eventually remove them, I'm sure, but they take inordinately long to do it, and the bad actors are able to abuse far too many players in the meantime.
You know the current hacker issue where people are flying around spamming screams and headpopping every survivor two seconds into the game, and they can go unbanned for upwards of a month despite it being really, really obvious they're cheating? Being a racist ######### is just as bad. You don't have to be subtle about it; even with the game taking chat logs, people can report you using slurs over and over again and it still takes BHVR forever to get around to checking them.
A report system that works on this long a delay isn't a working report system at all.
ik some cheaters personally irl that have been streaming cheating for years and never been banned

What do you mean, why aren't we talking about this? I've been yelling about this very take all day all day. There's been at least twenty threads.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2731972#Comment_2731972
To clarify, you're completely right about the onus not belonging to streamers here - people should be able to enjoy the damn game without being harassed, especially not on the basis of who they are, and "just stop streaming if you're getting harassed" is an awful take. I don't take any issue with what you're saying here except one tiny line, but that's "removing a cosmetic that was unnecessary." Every cosmetic is unnecessary. This game would function fine if everyone just had the default outfits and nothing else. They are, however, nice things to have and losing any of them is a shame.
Every single thing about this problem could have been fixed by actually banning the racist dickweeds instead of this limbo where it takes a few dozen reports and several weeks minimum before BHVR does anything. Instead, we're left with a situation where we have less cosmetics to enjoy and the racist shitheels are still roaming around being disgusting to every Claudette/Tapp/Adam/Elodie they meet because the report system in this game barely functions and even obvious, unrepentant proof isn't enough to get rid of people in a timely fashion.
Getting rid of Smartface didn't fix the problem that awful people are allowed to run rampant in DBD with little fear of repercussion. It just took away a set of cosmetics, and now BHVR is patting itself on the back for looking out for its community while it refuses to actually put in the legwork and manpower to address the long-standing and incredibly pervasive issue that plagues this game.
I gotta say I typically like your posts and agree with your takes and opinion

Your personal take is inaccurate. They were and certainly will continue to ban people exhibiting racist behavior. The removal of the faces is to give them less tools to be racist ass hats.
Really cause ive never seen them ban anybody and ik tons of cheaters some that have streamed the game for years
Still never banned
We have zero proof a single soul has ever been banned
I've never once heard anyone anywhere on the internet say they've been banned

I might've and I might've missed it really I just want game replys already man at least with game replays console could finally report

@JudyIscariot said:
Their logic has been even if the report system works quickly and efficiently 100% of the time, someone still had to experience harassment in the first place that was made possible or worse by something they can remove. Reporting is a reactive measure, this is proactive. I'll miss the masks, but I understand what they're saying.
While I understand that logic until they type racist marks in egc you honestly never know what someone's intentions are
We can't just be the thought police because people may commit crimes
Again not defending just trying to relate it to irl actions ig

That would literally remove the one useful portion of the perk which is the ability to change obsessions. So while it would make the perk more consistent I think that that would be a bad idea.
Nobody and I mean nobody uses the perk to change obsessions we have Nemesis and decesive strike for that

cuz the killer can't do anything about it.
And the survivor can't be unhooked at all
But you can be unhooked ive seen plenty of squads swarm a camper and get the unhook
Just like as killer you just take a different path

If a survivor dead hards right now they will eat any hits instead of letting the hit pass through.
This is why Nemesis tentacle at pallets against dead hard does not break the pallet. You cannot coup de grace a dead hard survivor because you'll hit the survivor and be validated instead of landing the hit at the end of the dead hard.
Don't bother arguing with that guy he always makes survivor biased posts and has clearly never played that much killer

Dude, you need to calm down.
Just because you don't understand, doesn't mean there isn't a good reason.
While you might only care about balancing changes, BHVR values thematics and design intention.
Looking at the discussions around Trickster's Main Event, and the Developer's desire to build up to a crescendo with his power, we can reason that Nemesis is designed with a similar power curve in mind. Nemesis is not supposed to be super strong early in the trial--his Tier-system is an intentional design choice, as is the limited number of antidotes.
Early in the trial, survivors can shrug off an infection by picking up an antidote, and pallets can actually be used to put some distance between the survivor and the killer. As the trial goes on, Nemesis grows in power--quite literally as he Tiers up, and by proxy of a deminishing number of antidotes remaining in the trial.
Marvin's Blood completely negates the thematic intentions of Nemesis' design, and provides players with an underwhelming shortcut to the finish line.
I hate to inform you of this but even after the nerf it will probably only take one more hit
So you can out of here with the it's design bullshit when the difference is only one hit

I mean there's always a chance that it'll be buffed in the official PTB patch notes... but like... why would the Dev Update have some of the Clown Changes but not all of them?
Press x for doubt I seriously doubt they even realize what they've done
When they buffed plague they changed on of her add ons and changed the movement speed from plus 7% to plus 4% and McLean one of the lead devs and choice makers back then said

I said this previously in this thread but you didn't read it. That is for ALL ranks, not high/red ranks. The old data for ALL ranks is basically the same so we can assume the data for HIGH/RED ranks are the same too.
Should we not be balancing with all ranks considered?

No, Survivors want a balanced game. It's not fun to just win every single time in the same way it's not fun for killers to win every single time. Survivors have been on the short side of the win rate for years and years now and we just want some balance.
Expect for the fact that they release kill rates every few months and no killer has ever gone above 60% most hover around 45-50% so your wrong

getting direct bottle hits really isnt that hard, especially if you have the fingerless parade glove addon. and not like you can use another addon to make up for the -2 bottle penalty
I found it guys this is the guy that hits all his bottles 100% let's all praise him
It's almost like when you watch clown mains they only hit 60%-70% of there bottles but not this guy nope he hits every bottle every time

It isn't hard to imagine lmao I've been a killer main for 4 and some years. I guarantee they aren't healing in a nanosecond, because so far the fastest that is capable is close to 4 seconds and that is only with an entire build dedicated to healing.
If you are playing a killer like Deathslinger or Trickster, than your power is based around getting quick downs. Boons should especially not be a huge problem to those killers, since your playstyle tends to be chasing a survivor until they are downed, not hit and run. With Hag, you are a strong defense killer and while they will be able to heal after each hit, your defense will be hard to break if you have a good web perimeter set up.
Not hard to imagine, I'm fulling getting what you are saying lmao it just sounds like a newer player having struggles. If you'd like to drop some gameplay of yours I'm totally willing to watch and give pointers. Even drop your hours or anything and I can help
Defs not the issue I have more hours then you lmaoo
Just play my 4 man come on bro what are you afraid of if it's that easy

First of all, I want to make it clear that I'm main killer, my previous posts prove it. But that's not why I'm going to defend unbalanced perks, like this new version of Dead Man Switch. On M1 killers overall this buff seems to be pretty decent, but on high mobility killers like Nurse, Blight, Hillbilly and Oni, they might kick out survs from gens again and again. The Artist also has this ability. My suggestion is that the time be shortened, 45 s is too much to work on any surv, or that the perk becomes a scourge hook.
Can we stop asking for nerfs for a perk we haven't even seen in action yet I hate stuff like this

I never stop a friend off for trash talking a killer who camped and tunneled. Being a killer main, I know there are better ways to get kills. Sometimes I won't rescue a random who had done nothing all game but chase the killer around clicking their flashlight. But I don't care if they bodyblock the killer
This post right here is the toxicity that is killing the game ^^

So in this scenario are you just afk or something? Usually in a match, atleast one survivor at minimum should constantly be pressured, either by being chased or hooked. If someone is hooked, then that should be 2 people pressured (either by you chasing another, or another survivor needing to go to the hook). If someone is also booning during all of this, it is just 1 extra person not doing gens, even if it is for a short time. Learn how to pressure and improve in the game, rewatching your matches can help.
You won't hook anyone tho because they all just run to the boon and heal it's hard to explain unless you played vs it
Let me put it like this if you played a 4.4 killer like hag or DS or trickster vs me and my squad we would always have a boon you would never be able to snuff them all
How is that so hard to imagine

Yea this game is dying it's starting to fold to sensitive people even though it's a slasher game where you kill your opponents, It has nothing to do with the bubba masks for me it's just getting to a point where everything is complained about because the main problems have for the most part been addressed and now people have to dig deep to find something to ######### about it's annoying to play the game because most people are sore losers with only a few that are genuinely nice and fun to play with , just yesterday I was playing survivor and one of the other survivors who was trying to be toxic clicking and tbagging, hiding inside shack and immediately wasting god pallet on the killer who was oblivious he was even there ,got camped and then insulted the killer in the endgame chat I stuck up for the killer and told them not to be a twat if they didn't want someone to be one back and then I got insulted by him and his friend for not backing them up while they cursed a killer out for playing a damn video game it's just getting stupid these days the fun is gone for me, I love trolling as much as the next but I don't get salty when I lose because I knew the consequences if I was caught and it's just a game.
It just blows me away that they listen the complainers and remove bubba's mask when the wasn't even that many but yet the general majority agree deathslinger needs reverts and he's left untouched
-
I think we all can agree we are disappointed
The devs said it wasn't gonna be survivor sided but no mention of boon changes, no mention of dead hard
And the add on changes for killers as perk changes for killers while great really won't shift the meta that much which is disappointing

Eh, I'm not too bothered by the nerf to Pinky Finger. I dislike that killer addons have lately been getting weaker and less impactful, but Pinky Finger is super easy to backrev, more or less.
The addon changes were a mixed bag. Iridescent Umbrella Badge desperately needed what they did to it, but Iridescent Family Crest is still a pretty bad design that only helps you in situations you shouldn't be getting into. Wooden Fox is still just a bad idea and the favored Twins ones just chipped at a killer that already has negative QoL.
Oh I agree with the majority of other add on changes I just don't think clown needed a nerf and I'm sad to see no news on slinger, legion or gf

did they? flask of bleach got nerfed by 1% (and pinky finger needed a change so im fine with that one), but then robin feather got a nice buff to make it even easier to throw a bottle, m1, and catch up very quickly because of hindered + stbfl
While I don't necessarily agree that pinky finger needed a nerf considering you still had to hit your bottles why nerf the hinder add on?
It's not like many clown players run stbfl theirs no way to save stacks on him

The Developer Update is not the PTB patch-notes, it's a showcase of some of the changes that are coming, but it doesn't cover all the changes that the PTB will have.
But why nerf clown tho already one of the weaker killers?
And that's nice furtive chase got changed but it doesn't really change the fact that it only decreases tr in chase and that doesn't really help killers that aren't stealth considering there's a giant glowing red light in front of killers

I am deeply unimpressed by part 2. Many of the perk changes don't address the fundamental issues with those perks (Furtive Chase, Buckle Up, Remember Me, Distortion) and therefore didn't make them worthwhile. There was no Legion or Ghostface rework. And I'm pissed about the removal of all the Bubba masks because a tiny minority of players were complaining about them.
I agree completely it also blows my mind that they buffed pig (not saying she didn't need it she did)

If they take 30-50 seconds to get too, they take that same time and more to reach as a survivor.
Also again, if there are 3 people doing boons, you are getting a lot of free pressure and should take advantage of it. Even on those ######### maps, you can most definitely turn the game around if you are good
Expect for the fact that there's one killer and 3 booners they just rotate placing it and 2-3 people are always on gens come on man that wasn't that hard to think about.

I would like to know what stat tracker you are looking at because as far as I know dbd doesn't have a Stat tracker and if it's a 3rd party then it's only those who put there info into it are on it.
It seems non reliable if it's a 3rd party thing.
It's a 3rd party website and it pulls the stats and numbers straight from steams api
Nothing inaccurate about it, it's literally pulling numbers off the users save data pretty much (not exactly I just explained it in a easy to understand way so you would get it)

Just a thought I had, I still think CoH needs a healing boost nerf (more specifically healing in general needs a nerf and has for a while) but I really do not think boons in general are bad, in fact they are a healthy addition to the game. You only see CoH complained about. This doesn't make boons bad design, just means healing is busted (most good players know that anyways).
But also people act like they can't do anything against boons which just feels wrong. Ever since boons have been added, I haven't ever really had a horrible match. I've had tougher matches that is for sure, but I know how to react. I've also realized that in a meta change for survivors, it means you have to adapt as killer and there are certainly builds that can punish boons and make them more of a detriment for survivors.
One of the biggest ones is just a simple Thrill and Undying. Thrill is huge value and it basically means survivors have to cleanse instead of blessing because if they do, it is too much of a time sink. Throw on pentimento, bam extra gen slowdown too. Throw on any gen regression? makes the build more viable. Even throw on haunted and it is huge value.
Just silly seeing so much of the community act like killer is impossible now when players that either have been playing for a long time or practice and try to improve don't suffer or have matches like that. Sure everyone has bad matches, but it is always healthy to see where you can improve and realize where you made your own mistakes.
Yeah I hate to say this but then you haven't ran into a 4 man with 3 coh repeatedly booning the upstairs macmillan totem or the rpd library totem cause those both take at least 30-50 secs to get to and are a huge waste of time

2017: Livestream #71
Horvath: "Now, with that being said, I do believe there is a significant mismatch that happens time and time again. Survive With Friends is very difficult to manage and I've seen this in a lot of different games; I've experienced it myself... it's not cool, right?"
Cote: "So what we are talking mostly is about adding maybe a..."
Horvath: "Better balance. Better balance, better matchmaking..."
Cote: "More points. Multiplier, or something. For facing Survive With Friends."
Horvath: "Or maybe even if you play Survive With Friends and majority of your group level is 10, let's say, maybe we'll make you play against a level 5 killer. Something of that nature. There are some things we can do and we are looking into. But I don't think Survive With Friends will necessarily be removed."
2017: Livestream #77
Horvath: "...we are looking at SWF in general as something we love to embrace I believe. Friends are a great thing, as it helps to pass knowledge from one person to another, and one way we can help to balance out the single player experience versus people who actually have this information or know how to use information that is passed on in game, we are going to give more information through the portrait, through the UI, to help give you the same information as someone on a voice chat and hopefully we eventually get to a point where someone is like, 'Yo, the killer is on me' and someone else is like, 'I know.' Like every time, 'I know, I know.'"
2017: Livestream #83
Not_Queen: "The second very... most important thing for them was SWF compensation for killers. So on this point, right there, we are still discussing about how we want to balance this, how we want to approach this, but the best example we can give you guys is that it's probably not going to be a compensation... probably going to be more like leveling the field. So for example, when you play with your friends and you are the obsession, you are like, 'ok guys, I'm the obsession' and everybody knows it, right? Well, giving that information to solo players right of the bat would level the field. And then what? The matches need to be reworked first."
Cote: "Then aren't people going to scream that it was hard against SWF and now it's going to be harder against everyone?"
Not_Queen: "No because it's implied that there's going to changes to killers also, right? ...But yeah, that's what Horvath talked about few streams ago, about how the idea is to level up the solo players and then buff the killers in general."
2018: Q&A #5
McLean: "So was the game balanced for it (SWF) originally? I don't know if I would say it was or wasn't, really... even if it is not the 'intended' way to play, we just got to acknowledge that that's how some people do."
McLean: "I would say that it (SWF) does affect our game design now... where we are not going to put in any designs that hinge on some survivors knowing something and other survivors don't. And now when we work on other mechanics, we always have to ask ourselves, how is this going to work for a solo group versus how is this going to work for a coordinated group, so that's the question we have to ask ourselves now. So we do keep this in mind these days."
2019: Mid-Chapter 3.1.0 #125 Q&A
Horvath: "We're still looking to tighten the gap between Solo Survivors and Survive With Friends. I know we spoke about making Kindred available to everyone by default, but ultimately I don't think this is what we are going to do. The initiative to bridge the gap will continue and we will find solutions on case by case basis."
2019: Reddit AMA (August)
Q: Any info on a totem counter of some sort that would be displayed on the screen? This would really benefit people who solo queue.
A: Hello SP_0101, we have thought about this as this has been brought up a few times. We are unsure whether or not we will put a totem counter in game, or whether a perk such as Small Game might get the counter at the moment. Ultimately, we are looking for the best way to bridge this knowledge gap between solos and swf.
Q: Will the game ever be balanced for SWF?
A: This can be a little tricky: If we just buff killers to be more powerful and competitive against coordinated teams, solo players or more casual teams will struggle. We have been keeping SWF in mind as we design new content to make sure that solo players aren't left behind, and we would like to revisit existing mechanics as well to make them more accessible to solo players. By bringing solo players up to the same level, we would be able to better balance around coordinated groups without leaving solo players behind.
2019: AMA (November)
Peanits: "As for balancing around SWF, this is also a bit tricky. If we were to balance solely around incredibly coordinated teams, we would be leaving solo players at a huge disadvantage. Our goal is to gradually bring solo players up to the same level of info as a pre-made group and then balance killers to match. This way everyone's on a level playing field."
2020: DBD Forum
Peanits: "It's definitely a factor. Any time you make something that affects generator speeds, you need to think "But what about Ruin?" Being able to balance around a single constant speed is much easier to do, and that way you don't have to worry about leaving the people who don't use it behind while making it excessive for those who do. It's the same philosophy we apply to the solo vs. SWF gap, where we're gradually bringing the two closer together so we can better balance around everyone without leaving people behind."
2022: Dev Update for January
If you’re reading this, you’ve been left on the hook at some point. Okay, maybe not, but the chances are very high.
Thanks to Skill Based Matchmaking ratings, we’re able to see the impact playing with a premade group has on the outcome of a match at various skill levels. The data confirms our suspicions: As skill goes up, so does the gap in survival rates between solo survivors and premade groups. In the top end of skill levels, the difference in escape rates can be as much as 15%.
This isn’t great: This difference between solo Survivors and groups makes it difficult to find a perfect balance. If we balance Killers around premade groups, solo Survivors get left behind. Meanwhile, if we balance around solo Survivors, Killers will have a rough time against groups. With that in mind, we’re working on some measures to bridge the gap between solo Survivors and premade groups, which will allow us to better balance Killers as a result.
We’re aiming to strike a balance between making the solo player(s) feel like they’re a part of the team without being overbearing. For example, we want to share key pieces of information, like “What are my teammates doing?”, but not too much info, like showing everyone’s exact location. To put it simply, the idea is to bring solo Survivors up to the same level, not give people excessive information that makes even premade groups stronger.
We want to share a very early peek at one potential way of closing this gap. Before we do, we want to stress that this is in the very early stages; we’re curious to hear what you think, but please keep in mind that it may change or even be scrapped entirely.
One feature we are experimenting with is a status icon next to each Survivor’s portrait in the HUD that lets you know what they are doing. This way, solo Survivors can base their decision around what their teammates are doing, and partial groups get a better idea of their solo teammates’ contributions, making everyone feel like more of a team. This is something that can already be easily conveyed with a quick callout over voice chat, but is currently not available to solo Survivors.
Once again, this is a very early preview- so early that we’re still discussing this internally. Feel free to share your thoughts, but please keep in mind that none of this is final or confirmed. Depending on how things go, this feature may be changed or scrapped entirely before it ever sees the light of day. We wanted to be open about this and keep you in the loop: The gap between solo Survivors and groups is not going under the radar, it’s something we’re actively working on."
If there's any other specific quotes from the developers regarding Solo and SWF gap and the killer buffs that would go with it, I would be happy to include it here. Overall, it seems like they've been talking about it a lot for the last five years, but not much progress has been made in that front at all, despite the fact it's ALWAYS been a problem for this game and its overall balance from the very, very beginning. Hopefully that's actually changing this time around.
It won't change no offense but swf has been overpowered for years and solo has always sucked in 5 years nothing's changed

It's intentional bro can't you see it's not a bug

Honestly I prefer the loop squad because at least then I can trick myself into pretending I had a chance to mindgame
Idk why but this ######### made me laugh hard 😂

I noticed that when I am a team player and I bring in perks that help out my team I'm almost always screwed by them and bringing perks like DS or unbreakable would have saved me this is kind of a vent lol because I almost always play solo
Believe it or not but you could run
Dead hard/borrowed time/ decisive strike/ and kindred
Really wild right

Your emblems/ranks are not the same as your MMR.
You have no indication that you're at "high MMR". Nobody does. It's one of the major flaws of the system and it has made the community much worse overall IMO.
Actually hackers know exactly what mmr they are at
There's a hack for that I saw a video on it

Agreed I don't even play slinger for the most part, but I heavily dislike when a killer is left in the dust like he has been.
Billy and slinger my heart goes out to. Freddy is so damn boring and uninspired to me that I really miss old Freddy too (with some tweaks of course).
What do you run on your slinger anyways LoneSlinger? I don't think I've ever asked
I won't lie pretty much only run 2-3 builds depending on what mood I'm in
If I feel like trying hard and sweating
M&A/STBFL/Pop or pain resonance depending on the day/jolt
If I see it's a 4 man swf trying to troll me
Franklin's/lightborne/agitation/starstruck
If I feel like just chilling and vibing
M&A/plaything/pentimento/no way out
Really just depends how I'm feeling
Oh and regardless of the build I always run double reload add-ons or the double terror radius add ons because regardless of how you play whether you miss or not your gonna have to reload and with Max stacks and fast reload downs come quick if you hit your shots and when not playing serious m&a and the tr add ons can catch people off guard sometimes
I feel like his iris aren't that great 9/10 it's hard to land a shot further then 15ft to get the one shoot and the undetectable one honestly isn't that great

I just wanna see some deathslinger buffs man
Even tho Ik it won't happen 😓😭

i think the only other time they split a dev update in half was 5.3.0, when there was such a massive volume of changes, the majority of which were good. i have (most likely misplaced) hope that the second half will also bring news of some good things, with Wednesday (PTB patch notes day) rounding it out with the changes nobody likes.
I'm hoping your right and praying it's not pig nerfs 👍🙏

Novel idea but why don't we wait and see what they will be (if any) before judging them...?
Not judging I made a prediction damn don't know those were illegal nowadays

killers could get a superbuff and survivors get, like, a change to Deja Vu to make it a better information perk and they'll still say the devs do nothing for killers and it'll become a new meta perk because it'll constantly prevent 3 gens and ensure survivors have 100% guaranteed info on where to go next or something equally as idiotic as that.
I typically agree with you GoodBoyKaru but I'd bet 5 dollars rn that the killer buffs if we get any tomorrow will read like
' hiting someone as legion doesn't reduce the cool down on FF as much"
And
"Billy's chainsaw now returns to normal after overheating slightly faster"
