The problem is, that there are many survivor players who do not play killer. And some of them never want to.
-
I would like to see it after the match.
And for the Matchmaking I would have 2 separate sets of skill data. One for solo (+maybe duo) and one for 3+ swf. And I would still match vs highest skill of the swf.
-
I was able to DS a Doc yesterday, but whenever I tried to force it by hopping in a locker, I couldn't.
So I think it's maybe something with the lockers.

Ehm why should be a blacklist? And if so, the why only for survivors? Why killer's can't blacklist perks?
The game works that way. People payed for their chars, they want to play it. And I hope once the disconnect penalty will be a real thing.
Totally agree. As a Freddy Main I would choose Object of Obsession. But imagine how many killer would choose DS. Imagine the queue times XD
-
@toxicmegg Have you tried to spot a key in Jeff's hand as Killer? Especially when wearing the coat? On top of that, he also has the same animation with and without animation.
Not that there are many Jeff players or mains like myself, but I had to mention that.
-
@Sinner5Gonn4Sin I as Rank 8 killer would not even stay in this lobby. Too much genrushing now that Ruin is garbage.
-
If I'm with friends, I play Survivor. If not, I mostly play killer. I used to play a lot more solo, but with the queuetimes at red ranks... I rather play some killer matches. Even with all the toxic clickers and tbaggers.
-
Everyone who wears a mask. Usually toxic, and they just piss me off most times.
Legacy players. Most of them are way beyond my skill level. I tend to doge the lobby if I see one.
Survivors with Keys. Nuf said.

What do you mean, "new" meta?
Well, it depends, I think. I am red rank, but I do not see this combination that often. The most common in my region (Germany, on PC) seems to be Adrenaline, DH/SB, DS and Self Care/Iron Will/BT. Sometimes an Unbreakable, but Deliverance is quite rare.
-
So the new meta for survivor would be Unbreakable, DS, BT and Deliverance, yes? Which would get killers only more mad:
They can't pressure gens well enough, so they tunnel and slug because of DS, which does not work because of Unbreakable. So they camp which does also not work because of BT and Deliverance.
Great.....
-
There is a bunch of videos on YouTube which explain how to "counter" that habit which is called looping. It's part of the game.
-
Totally agree. Both are the same. But I can understand the tunneling if gens are getting repaired left and right.
I don't want to tunnel myself, because I hate it, but I will do it if necessary. Same for gens. I like to do totems and sometimes I chill at the beginning a bit by opening a nearby chest or do a totem on my way to a Gen. I also want to do gens strategically, so I do not 3gen myself.
-
I would like that. To learn new maps, layout, totem spawns etc.
And practice some things with killers like a dash over a hole with pig, curving (or flying) with Billy, or fast vaults on difficult windows. Or even a Gen that gets overcharged every time you let go, to practice these skillchecks.
-
As Survivor (Rank 1) I really don't mind Ruin, I'm hitting the Greats most times anyway. And on those days where I seem cursed to only hit Greats when ruin is gone, the totem dies in 1min.
And if the killer has no Ruin and has no natural Gen pressure like Freddy, Billy, Spirit etc. then matches are way too fast. Depending on your team, you can rarely get any altruism points, which hurts your emblems.
As Killer (rank 7) I know that there are some slower killers who need Ruin in the early game, because they build up their power (Myers, Oni, Trapper etc.). I tried Corrupt, but that is just not an option most times. And then there are killers that need Ruin the whole game (f.e. Wraith and Bubba) for most times.
Of course there are good players who can do well without Ruin, but even they struggle against optimal teams when Ruin is equipped.
I think the Ruin change is unneeded. If newer players struggle with it, then better fix the problem (Gen times) first, before changing the perk. The usage rate does not come from nowhere, you know.
I had an own idea how to change it to not punish new players, but more experienced ones by shrinking the Great Skillcheck Zones the more gens are done (or the other way round considering Hex perks do not last long).
-
I think, Doc, Hag and Clown the most. Being driven insane and electrocuted is horrible beyond measure. Being eaten alive is a thought I really don't want to think and what the clown does with women.... well... I would rather be staked and mori'd by Myers. But having a RBT on your head is quite unsettling too.
-
I live in Germany too, so we should have the same player base. I'm rank 1 survivor and rank 7 killer with about 2.2k hrs.
I think the problem is the new rank reset, which gives players the opportunity to get to higher ranks than they usually would. This results in long survivor times and really short (20s) killer times in red ranks, but really long killer times on the low ranks. There is also not enough Survivors at these ranks, so you get matched with high ranks.
Maybe try to play in the evening. That usually cuts the time in half.
But yeah, Matchmaking is ######### right now.
-
Since the new Rift is with DLC characters, are you planning to offer said characters for a lesser price (especially shards)?
-
@HazeHound Old DL was hit or miss. If you had an Obsession who was not good at looping you did great, but against a looping king this perk was useless. And back then it was mostly the good players with DS or OoO. And often enough it result in you Bein tunnel-mori'd even if you did not have DS and were just the poor guy RNG chose.
I had some games where I really was unlucky and died after 2min into the game (I was not so good at looping back then). All I could do was to watch my mates struggle 3v1 against DL with 4 gens to go.
You are right that DL should be dangerous for the obsession but I can understand that the Devs did not like the oppressive nature of that perk.
Your idea for unrelenting seems good. I had a similar idea, but for a new perk.
-
@Maxomega OK, Seal Portal is dumb, you are right. Sorry for that. I had this idea around 3 am so, I think I was a bit tired.
@Toxicboii No offense taken. I was a bit tired when I thought of this at 3 am. I use it on Huntress, but I don't play her much. The description says that you open lockers faster, but that it has nearly no effect on the reloading time per se. At least that's what I found in a video some time ago.
So I thought, that it would be better if the time between locker opens and locker closes is 30/40/50% shorter. This would also include grabs out of the locker and should be enough time to drop a survivor that has DS. This way it could counter the counter.
-
For Survivor I have a few ones, depending on playstyle.
1) Spine Chill, Resilience, Iron Will, Exhaustion Perk/Q&Q for those who get chased a lot or stay injured.
2) Spine Chill, Stake out, Urban Evasion, Iron Will for the stealthy Gen Jockeys.
3) Lithe, Q&Q, Dance With Me, Iron Will/Lightweight for the ultimate Houdini Build. Best on Lèry's.
For killer I have only two:
Doc: M&A, Corrupt, PGTW, Dark Devotion with both the Calm add-ons for Ninja Doc. Is really fun but requires an indoor map.
Myers: Whispers, PWYF, Nemesis, Pop with Judith's Jurnal and J. Myers Memorial gives the best stalk from the obsession.
-
@Macmillan Maybe that you need to cleanse ALL totems to get rid of a Hex (or 2 or 3...). That needs at least 75s for all the Totems. In addition to the time you need to find them.
-
@JC316 said:
Pfft. DS and unbreakable are going to be the new meta, because killers are going to have to slug and tunnel to survive without ruin.
don't forget deliverance, because survivors will more likely "just finish the gen quickly" before they rescue someone from the hook.
-
Well... I would have picked Nea, but Claudettes can be quite toxic too AND are invisible.
-
Ace. Because I already bought Hag (with shards) before I bought all the other DLC
-
I do cleanse when the last gen is half way done but only as far away from the exit as possible. And maybe if there is a nasty combination with Black Incense.
-
I would like to see a spear f.e. native American or viking. A Soldier from WWI with a bayonet on his gun would be cool too. Or a killer who throws a boomerang or a discus.
There are so many great designs I would like to see.
-
- Kill the Obsession X times by any means. I did it with a new build on Myers. Nemesis PWYF, Ruin and Enduring or Brutal Strength. Combine this with Judith's Jurnal and Tombstone Piece and force pallet stuns on a non obsession player so you can stalk faster and get PWYF stacks. Mori your obsession when they are fully stalked.
If everything goes right you can Tombstone 3 obsessions and use an Ivory Mori for the 4th.
-
I liked that too. So I did know if my mates were rank 18 or so.
-
@Danky I never had the issue of a facecamping Freddy. And I do like challenging games.
Facecamping in general is stupid and only countered by genrushing.
-
@Danky That was the exception I did not mention because I thought it would be obvious.
@slipttees I do not consider that camping, because the killer has nothing else to do. But that's personal definition I think.
-
@slipttees Playing against Freddy/Spirit is not boring (at least for me) but challenging. I welcome the no collision and vault animation changes too, because even as killer this felt just cheap.
Concerning Freddy, what rank are you on? I never met a camping Freddy since the Rework on purple and red ranks. The only reason why I think the Oblivious Effect is bad, is the reason I mentioned before. It makes you helpless as Killer when you are going against Object of Obsession which should not be the case with any Killer and was the reason they gave stealth killers Undetectable.
And if Freddy is (Face)camping, then do gens. Punish him that way. But... don't forget the Totems, OK?
-
@RainbowPatooie Yep. One game I pipped with 9k at purple ranks and another I depipped with 20k. That was one of the games where I was trying the 64k BP challenge which gets you a lot of points, but if you fail, you depip most likely.
-
@slipttees well... against facecamping it needs more than just BT. It needs multiple Survivors for distraction and someone who fakes the unhook. I did it myself against freddy without having BT at all and it worked. He is no Bubba, Huntress or Billy where you even have problems trying that.
-
I assume you did all of this alone, because otherwise it is different.
2 unhooks + heals should be an Iridescent Benevolent but at least a Gold, because Silver is the half of what you did. Silver Unbroken is right, if you stayed alive for at least 9min but died, which I think you did. 3 Gens by yourself can be a Gold or Iridescent Lightbringer depending how much the others did, but it definitely should be an Iridescent. Chaser is difficult, because "he lost me 2 times" is not very precise. Chaser depends on not getting hit during a chase for a long time and lose the killer (you get the Escaped score event), as well as pallet stuns. I thought multiple times that I should have at least Silver Chaser but had only just got Bronze instead.
But if you did the healing and gens with someone else, it maxes out your points quickly but "hurts" your emblems.
-
That made my day XD. Well done!
-
The Oblivious effect makes him vulnerable too. Ever had an OoO as Freddy? 0 Mindgame possible once they are asleep, because they can see you all the time.
-
@bendermac that is the same challenge (same words they used) like in level 2 but with 4 gens instead of 3.
-
@bendermac You just need to finish the Gen. No need to do it all from 0 to 100. I know that for a fact, because I only fully repaired one Gen and finished 2 other.
-
A solution for the problem that people focus too much on that single challenge they chose is this:
Do not implement the challenges in a web-like structure, but make then accessible and active all at once. Change the requirements to finish a level to a percentage of challenges you need completed.
This way you could play normally, but do "escape the trial with Hope" the same time you "healed 4 Survivors in one match". The grindy Challenges wouldn't be that problem either, because you repair gens, save and heal every game. This way you could even increase the amount you need for that (with more reward of course), because you can do all at the same time.
I think this would be more healthy for the game.
-
That would be great. I suck at flashlight saves. Never get the timing right.
-
I have 2.1k hrs and play both sides, rank 4 survivor and rank 7 killer. I have no problems with killer challenges so far (except the grind). The Trapper specific ones need more time for me because I rarely play him. But that's all right.
For survivor most challenges are really really grindy, because you compete with others. Some just don't fit my playstyle, like "rescue with the flashlight" but I don't complain. I just do them last.
For my part, the killer ones could be just a lil bit more difficult, but the survivor ones could be a bit less grindy and less rng based. They did the last part so I'm fine with that.
No need to say, that "they are just difficult for rank 20s". Some are difficult even for a rank 1 because you do not play that killer often or just do not like to play the way the challenge wants you to. If you can do them easily, be happy. You need less time to get to tier 70. At least I would not complain. And if you are bored, you could do them with an extra challenge, like without perks or deaf or whatever.
-
- Hook X people in the Basement. Use a killer with a good basement defense like Trapper, Hag, Huntress, Bubba. Don't camp the basement. You want them to get unhooked, so you can rehook them. Ideally you will get 12 hooks per game, my average was 6 for this. Maybe use offerings for maps with a central basement like Rotten Fields. Agitation and Iron Grasp are a must have for this, Mad Grit or STBFL come in handy too.
- Kill x Survivors during the EGC with NOED. I recommend a 75% end game built for this. NOED, Bitter Murmur, Blood Warden and Ruin. Never go without Ruin or chill during the game, or they will expect the NOED. I used Myers for it, because he's not a typical NOED Killer like Bubba, Wraith, Doc. Never try this challenge at all if someone has a map, they might find your totems really quick. Try to get everyone 2hooked until the last gen, so you don't need your eyes on the hooked person once the EGC starts. And don't forget to open the exit by yourself before the hook, so BW activates.
-
I was only really upset with the "2 saves during the EGC" challenge. Mostly because it is right at the beginning, so you have to do the killer ones if you want to go around. No problem for me, but there are people who just play survivor. That's not fair at all. It is more likely you pallet save someone than completing that challenge.
-
Favourite: Iron Will and STBFL. Nothing is better to be quiet while injured as a Jeff Main. And STBFL gives these juicy hits you won't get otherwise.
Hate: Urban Evasion and NOED. I hate it when Survivors just crouch and do nothing. NOED is just cheap. It is easily avoidable, but most times your mates are too dumb to do a single totem except Ruin.
-
A kill ratio of 75% average(!) does not mean the killer is OP. Did you notice how many matches end with either 2k or 4k? 3k is more rare because many killers slug to get 4k. 3k is only possible if the last one gets hatch or the exit gate in time. And guess what the average of 50% and 100% is: right. 75%. This is more often practiced at red ranks, because even one escape can cost you your pip.
But why is the kill ratio that high at all ranks? Because killers are more powerful on lower ranks.
"That stats say, Freddy is broken." No he is not. He's an M1 killer (and with that, loopable unlike Spirit/Nurse) where you have to do some memory work (remembering his fake pallets). "But his pallets..." Just wake up man, and use your brain. "But his infinite repair build..." Yes, you can't genrush then, and I'm glad of it. "He's got wall hack with BBQ with teleport..." Nurse too. And don't forget Billy or Spirit. Oh... almost forgot it: wake up! But that does not make him broken.
Nurse, Plague and Huntress have worse kill rates because console is included and these do not work that well with a controller. And only few Nurse's are good and the good ones are most likely on PC and on red ranks, that's why she kills 48% at all ranks and 70% at red ranks. And I think her ratio would be higher if we would sort out those matches where the red rank killer was just doing the daily with Nurse but was bad with her.
Those stats are just that: stats with a lot of flaws (console/PC not separated etc.). They tell everything and nothing at the same time. Would there be this discussion "Killer x is OP" or "the game is clearly killer sided" because the stats "prove" it, if there were no stats at all? Probably not. So I don't get it, why you make all the fuss about it now.
-
The NOED one is not that hard. It just takes a good end game build and that's it. But you have to make sure Survivors don't expect you have NOED, else all totems will be gone.
The only challenge I just hate is the 2 saves during the EGC and that it is the 2nd challenge for survivor. You are stuck there until it is done unless you do the killer challenges to go around. I play killer/survivor about 50/50 so I have no problem to do that, but it is just not fair for those who don't. I think these kind of challenges need to be the last in some dead end. So you can leave it for last.
-
Female Survivors are more common because they are smaller and easier to hide. Imagine trying to hide a David or Jeff behind a thin tree....
Claudette has a natural talent in not to be seen and Meg has a black jacket which makes hiding easier too.
And of course, like @capriciousuke said, some Youtubers may influence the pick rates.
I have also noticed, that when I see one of these Survivors with fancy cosmetics or Masks (Meg&Nea) or the Claudette is obviously a Blendette, they are often toxic or selfish. That reaches from toxic against the killer to quick vaulting near teammates so the killer finds them, sandbagging on purpose or literally betraying you (mostly Nea). Or they just wait at the hatch and do not lift a finger to save the teammate who is on 1st hook while the killer is somewhere else (mostly Claudettes).
I have rarely seen any other Survivor doing these things than one of the 3 mentioned.
I would like to see some stats about that.

Yeah, sorry. I corrected it
-
@Jejune Simple solution when getting tunneled/camped (even with DS etc) and you desperately want to leave: Just die on the hook. You keep the points and don't give the killer extra ones. Not that hard and those 20s you need to die on the hook aren't that much.
Or you are a good sportsman and buy your team time. A camping killer is nowhere near your mates for 2 whole minutes! Which is equivalent of at least 2 gens. I even had 4 (!) gens popped during that time once!
And if you do not want to get slugged: Unbreakable is your best friend. And not getting found first works wonders too.
-
So you want a decent killer to be trash (again)?
Better learn how they work and adapt. That's way more fun than just make it easy by nerfing. I for myself with 2.1k hrs have still problems against a good Huntress or Nurse (oddly enough not Spirit). Do I complain? No. I learn to get better. And it worked with killers I had problems with long ago, like Clown and Hillbilly. No problem anymore. Why? Because I learned!
So I suggest you do the same.
