  • The cooldown for using only 1 crow is shorter, which means you can deploy another one or even two before the survivor is able to repel a Swarm. If a survivor vaults a window or drops a pallet it resets their repel action, so you can deploy two or even three in that case. If a survivor is able to repel before you release another crow, that's you not knowing how to use the power, not the killer being weak.

Yes, I'm a magician and I know when she's going to use her crows lol. I hear crows when she's chasing someone else as well so... it's this a bug or that's how her power works. I don't need nothing. That's my opinion about her. I just don't like her at all.

You can literally see the auras of the crows when she puts them. If you're hit by a long range shot it's entirely your fault.

  • NOED and Franklins as killer, because I don't like going against them as survivor.

Dead Hard and Boons as survivor, because I don't like going against them as killer.

  • Agreed. There's no reason for maps to be as big as they are on a game with only 5 players. It just reduces player interactivity.

  • I think they should have a minimum distance between them. Right now you can have two or even three Scourge Hooks right next to each other, which usually means a great part of the map has none of them. Basement hooks should also be Scourged like you said.

Come on... at least we can agree that gen speed is unfair. No?

Nah, gen speed is fine. What we need are some map tweaks and a rework to the early game.

There's nothing unfair about survivors doing gens fast... its part of the game.

    Yes :)

  • There's nothing unfair about tunneling. It's part of the game.

  • Instabuy for me. I have been buying the pre-order for every From Software game since Dark Souls 2.

The best candidate for that would obviously be Bloodborne, but it's a PS exclusive so it will probably never happen. Having Gascoigne as a killer and the Hunter as a survivor would be incredibly cool.

  • She's the first killer released since Oni that in my opinion doesn't need any changes. If anything she could use some slightly buffs like making the Festering Carrion addon basekit, but even if they don't she's still perfect.

  • She does get countered by holding W, but it's not as effective as it is against other killers like Pyramid, Slinger, Huntress, etc because she can use the 1 crow snipe to zone you.

  • Honestly I'd be settled with making anti-Boon perks at this point:

    1. Make Thrill of the Hunt a non-Hex perk. It was justifiable before with the notification because killers like Spirit could defend Devour Hope and Ruin very well using it. Nowadays not so much, but the slowdown on blessing/cleansing is nice, but what holds the perk back is that it is a Hex, and survivors are already looking out for totems to Boon;
    2. Let killers turn Booned Totems into Reklinded Totems while using Hex: Pentimento, but in exchange let survivors Boon the Reklinded ones. It would add a nice risk to using Boons because the killer could see their auras and put a significant slowdown into the team.

Ideally the devs change the Boon mechanic to turn them into more of a high risk/high reward thing, because right now they are very low risk, but tbh the only high reward one is CoH, so I think the two changes I mentioned above are ok.

  • I'm doing fine with her.

  • I think the order is: Nurse, Artist, Huntress, Blight, Deathslinger.

  • Nah, Artist is perfect. Probably the only killer that doesn't need any changes released since Oni. If anything she needs some slightly buffs like some add-ons basekit. Nobody cares about your SWF juke and loop montage number #717282.

  • I've been playing Artist exclusively since her release. Here are some builds I've been fond of recently:

Pop + Ruin + Pain Resonance + Deadlock

Discordance + Tinkerer + Corrupt + Pain Resonance

Grim Embrace + Corrupt + No Way Out + Deadlock

Pentimento + Plaything + Thrill of the Hunt + Thanatophobia

BBQ + Monitor and Abuse + STBFL + Corrupt

  • You have a lot of free time, don't you?

  • Pentimento would actually be great if you could turn Boons into Reklinded totems. It would be a great perk to counter them and I don't really see the problem because the killer is spending 1/4 of his build to it.

  • If she stays the way she is right now I might have found my main. She has a bit of everything that I like from other killers. Being able to snipe like Huntress, map control like Plague and an attack that goes through walls like Nurse.

  • He was mid/high B tier with his basekit and low A with addons. Still mid/high B now, so he ain't that bad.

  • There's no reason to play Billy when Blight exists. Blight can do anything that Billy can do but better: curving, strafing, hugging loops, etc. Add to that Blight's has better addons, no stupid roar, no stupid overheat and his cooldown for missing a rush is way smaller than the cooldown for missing a chainsaw. Hillbilly is obsolete.

It kind of feels BHVR intentionally killed Hillbilly. After his nerf Blight was released like 3 months after (and we know they plan killer months in advance), a lot of the new reworked maps are anti-Billy with random debris and branches stopping his chainsaw and even on the recent update they buffed Blight's Summoning Stone to be a very decent addon and what Billy got? Engravings are less of a pain to use and he now has an addon that lets him kick pallets faster... while overheated.

The only reason to play Hillbilly is if for some weird reason you like instadowns, but even then you can do Iri Tag + Alchemist Ring Blight LOL.

  • Another proof that for them only the looks of the map matter.

  • It has always removed 3 Bear Traps. It still does but now it spawns 4 boxes instead of the two it had before, and the aura reading is larger.

Even then it's laughable. This addon isn't good enough to warrant your entire lower. Wraith and Blight have similar addons without downside, so Pig's also shouldn't.

    Have anyone played swamp?

It's not really extra floor, but it might be broken there too...

I have. Swamp and RCPD are easily her worst maps imo. Her power is just useless on those.

  • You can still eat the idle crows on loops. Idke crows damaging was what made her zoning insanely strong, not they actually did the opposite and made it so you remove a swarm by going into an idle crow. Her counterplay is disturbing the crows just like you would disturb Hag's traps.

  • Pinhead's M2 is offensive as a game mechanic. A high effort, high risk and low reward attack.

Hate to disagree but if you're hitting survivors with snipes consistently you're playing against some potatos. Obviously you CAN land snipes, I do, but doing it consistently requires you to be against people who....simply don't know how to play against artist.

Math makes this true in almost every sense. It takes 1 second to charge power, 5 seconds to recover power shooting one crow. So 6 seconds. It takes 8 seconds to remove crows. Crows stop giving vision 2.5 seconds after removing. Assuming a survivor starts removing crows as soon as they get hit, (which every single survivor should be doing) you have 2 seconds to line up a shot that you cant see through a wall anymore.

Also, suvivors can simply look behind them at the angle the crow you setup was aimed.

Believe me I WISH her sniping was better, its her actual skill department.

Addons to make it better though.

  • They are in the middle of the pack. Not bad on Freddy's and Pyramid's level, but not good on Blight's and Oni's.

  • Something between 0 to 8. Depends a lot on how my college activities are going, if I'm playing another game and if I feel like playing DBD. Used to play 15-20 when pandemic started and classes were cancelled.

I honestly could play more, but on the current state of the game as a main killer, I'd rather watch streamers playing while I do college stuff than actually play.

  • You can snipe people by using a single crow at a time. I'm getting constant health states from long range just using 1 crow at a time. With the wallhacks of the swarm it actually becomes quite easy. You can also use things like Tinkerer or Discordance and line up crows on something like 20m apart from each other to get damage states, although I find this more inconsistent.

She's actually quite good on controlling the map, forcing survivors to repel all the time means gen slowdowns have quite good synergy with her. She's actually more of a threat at long range, juggling multiple survivors at once, than at close range, because then you can keep chaining loops, but even then her crows are a very decent zoning tool and you can force survivors into corners with them. Hold W hurts her, but what killer besides the top 3 doesn't struggle with it?

What completely ruins her are maps. RCPD and Swamp you might as well AFK.

I think she's potentially top of the A tier honestly, people are still figuring out how to play as and against her, so that may change, but I feel she's the 4th or 5th best killer right now.

  • Do you have any footage of you playing Artist? I want to get better at her, so it would be cool to watch someone who apparently find her so easy.

you're kidding right? it should always be 50/50 chance of out mindgaming each other. that's what makes the game fun. with these new w killers the game is incredibly boring and feels very unfair to get "outplayed" by questionable hits over pallets and windows. the only way to win is genrushing and that is just boring as hell. god we miss the old days when chases were actually exciting and fair.

"god we miss the old days when chases were actually exciting and fair" You mean the days where we had infinites, double pallets and vacuums? Yeah, totally fair.

  • I tried both Scourge Hooks with Agitation + Starstruck on Nurse and it was quite effective. Agitation guarantees you always get to a Scourge Hook, and it pairs well with Startstruck.

  • Seriously? Just click the chat icon on the bottom right of it, it will never show up again unless you click it again.

  • Most characters in this game can be bought through grinding (farming shards), it does take quite a lot, but now I only spend money on licensed DLCs.

In regards to killer, the strongest ones are mostly original and able to bought with shards: Nurse (already free), Blight, Spirit, Huntress (already free), Artist, Plague, Oni, Hag, Twins, etc. In fact the only licensed characters that can be considered "strong" are Pyramid Head, Demogorgon, Bubba and Pinhead, and even then they are not even top 5. Most licensed characters like Pig, Ghostface and Myers are underwhelming and have bad to mediocre perks, so you can skip them entirely.

The only one I kind of consider "Pay to Play" is Bubba because of how much BBQ reduces the grind. But even then it does show up on the Shrine sometimes.

This. Why is there even a chat?! Honestly, as a dev, that would be my first hot fix to the abuse killers are getting. Remove the chat. There is no need for it whatsoever.

My comment was directioned towards you though. There's no need for devs to remove it because you can just turn it off for yourself.

  • You're going against Artist? Everything I get is Nurse, Blight, Bubba and Huntress lol.

  • YOOOOO SNOOOP DOGGGG

  • Idk why you guys still let the endgame chat active.

  • Honestly they don't even need to do a big change to deal with that. Just let Victor snuff out Boons and this isn't a problem anymore.

I'd argue the survivors with one hit downs Hillbilly/Leatherface/Myers etc but I get what ya mean. I'll be on the look out to see what other people are doing with her. Who knows. I've seen some players carefully lining up crows so they hit after the invincibility for the survivor wears off so maybe we'll get a golf announcer for the Artist soon. Art is a pretty peaceful profession.

Golf announcer: The artist is lining up the shot, it looks like she's judging the wind to see which way the survivor will run after getting swarmed. Here at the major league golfing club we take pride in our well lined up shots. Ah. There she goes. It looks like she got an injure.

*muted golf clap from the audience*

Golf announcer: It looks like that shot had a 32.3333% chance of landing. Repeating of course.

Oni screams and runs in: LEEEEEEEEEROOOOOOOOOY.

*Golf announcer drops mic and the feed stops.*

That was a 10/10 comment, made my night lol. She's been out for like a day, so people will eventually figure out her strongest playstyle. Just like it took a while to figure Pinhead's playstyle is going for the box when possible.

    Hag.

    Plague.

    Spirit.

The biggest thing I'm finding with Artist is that people just prefer to leave loops against her the second I plant crows, and even faking it gives me a substantial slowdown and by the time I've caught up, they are at a safe loop and the process begins again.

Plague without her Corrupt is still a M1 killer, and COH makes me question if Hag is even B tier nowadays.

The thing about Artist is that she's not a set up killer. You're not supposed to be planting crows in every pallet because obviously survivors are just going to run away. Think of her as a Huntress instead, and use single Crows to get Swarms, and all 3 to guarantee hits.

  • @Heartbound said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2671609#Comment_2671609

In this scenario you have used your killer ability twice, with one of those times being a full charge to get an injure on a single survivor. At minimum you're putting 20 seconds of investment into that maneuver, assuming you land your crows. It takes 80 seconds to complete a generator.

So now you've got an injured survivor and you fire off three more crows and down them. 20 more seconds. Now you've got to go hook them. ~10 seconds. Now you've got to go find other survivors. Might be fast if you use your crows to scout.

If it was an add on sure, but this is your ability. If I hit you with a giant bird head you need to be injured. I'll let the flock of crows just swarming you pass though since cross map shenanigans are kinda cheeky. Looking at you Huntress.

The thing is that Artist has a way more reliable long range ability than Huntress. Sure she will take time to down survivors sometimes, but what other killers besides Nurse, Spirit and Blight can down survivors faster?

  • Honestly I think it's a matter of L2P. Swarming with 1 bird and then using 3 to injure is strong af.

  • People still play Pinhead?

The ability to analyse and the ability to play are separate skillsets. If I told you that I played a ton of Deathslinger, that wouldn't lend any more weight to my arguments, despite what some people might think. You're welcome to debate with me or you're welcome to drop the topic, I'm not expecting anything on that front.

Obligatory reminder that I don't think current Slinger is okay, I just am aware of and recognise what his problem areas were.

No thanks, I already deal enough with people who don't know anything talking about the area that I work on. Don't need to deal with that on a videogame as well.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2670587#Comment_2670587

The argument is that the thing you have to predict for those examples is direction, and since they have to be using their power in the direction that they're facing, there are limited options for them to employ, so you can actually reasonably predict it.

Whereas for Slinger, what you had to predict was timing, and there was no cue for that. I will grant you that for below average Deathslingers this doesn't come into play, but even just competent ones would make use of this. Don't assume I have a personal stake in this- I don't play survivor at all and I rarely play Slinger, this isn't a biased personal rant. I've just like, watched people play him, understand the concepts, and have formed a take based on those.

You are right: A Deathslinger is not guaranteed a hit in those scenarios because they might miss, but that's basically it. You can't react to it, you can't predict it, you just have to guess right or get lucky. It wasn't good game design.

So you never play survivor and rarely played Slinger? Do you want me to take you seriously at all? HOW the hell can you even say something like "you can't predict it" when you never even played against him? Do you really form your opinion by watching some random streamer? That's ridiculous.

Again, you never needed cues, even current Slinger doesn't have cues at all (no, you still can't react to a 0.4 seconds ADS). He was never that hard to go against like everyone pretends he was. If anyone who complained about old Slinger thinks the current version is okay is being a HYPOCRITE, because you still can't react to a quickscope.

The difference is that the devs made the worst decision they could ever make to a killer: they made him unfun to play as. Would have been better to straight up delete the character and refund the shards/cells honestly.

But whatever, I can't really take seriously someone who writes so much about a character that you never really played against and barely played as, you clearly don't understand how this killer works at all.
