  • It's bad. Really bad. Way more survivor sided than DBD, but in compensation it's way easier to camp someone there.

The Hunters are really cool though. Dream Witch imo is what Twins should have been. They also have some cool mechanics like shorter hit cooldowns for weaker Hunters which DBD could also be inspired from imo.

  • I believe hexes by themselves are one of the worst perks in the game. Not because of the effects, but because on most matches it will barely last a minute. Even paired with Undying they are barely above average, and they get outshined easily by consistent slowdowns like Corrupt and NWO.

People are just mad they don't have brain dead killers who win in every scenario. And that's not an exaggeration either. Old slinger literally won in every single situation just because survivors had no way to tell when he would shoot.

Old slinger was like huntress with no wind up time. So that's what they did to balance him. They made you have to plan shots instead of quickscoping when its convenient to. Slinger still has a lot going for him in a chase, people just don't care how to learn his mechanics because they're use to getting free hits.

Just out of curiosity, do you have any footage of yourself playing old Slinger? I really want to see how you won every scenario, maybe you were really a natural at him because even the best Slinger mains I know which were at the top of the leaderboard (most of them have dropped him!) struggled against good survivors.

nah he always had this level of zoning. just by walking around due to the insta-ADS you'd zone people through simply existing. take into account latency and a good slinger would have you speared before theyd have even moved on your end. his ability to quickscope was his zoning, and now his ability to walk while ADSing is his zoning.

all they did was change how he has to zone.

Insta-ADS was only really strong on zoning if you let him get really close to you, and at this range all other ranged killers are also very deadly. He is a 110% killer so there was no reason to let him get that near (except if he was running Monitor, which imo shouldn't work on him).

Long range shots were always unreliable because his hitbox is so tiny that even just slightly wiggling while running (which doesn't really make you lose distance) would make it super hard for anyone that wasn't a god with him to land a shot. Now long range shots are even more of a joke to dodge because of the longer ADS, and the only real reliable way of playing him is going for zoning which is boring for anyone.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUPM4pq-MSg&ab_channel=%E3%81%88%E3%81%B3%E3%82%82%E3%82%8A%E3%83%81%E3%83%A3%E3%83%B3%E3%83%8D%E3%83%AB watch from 5:54 to 6:53 to get my point. It's in Japanese but the footage is enough to understand. The Jake manages to dodge his medium-range shot just by walking a little to the side, and even if he was old Slinger there just a little wiggle from Jake would be enough to dodge. This guy is the 3rd Slinger with the most downs while Speared on the Leaderboard, so dodging Slinger was never "just hope he misses" like people used to say.

What had to be done to Slinger were just three things: (1) make it so Monitor doesn't work with at all, or maybe give him a 24m lullaby; (2) make his TR a bit louder, until today it's one of the most subtle TR musics; (3) give Slinger a massive slowdown if he raises his gun without shooting, something slower than even Huntress, so Slingers who actually went for quickscopes at medium/long range are rewarded, while the cheap zoning Slingers are punished.

  • Play him for yourself to see.

  • It's still terrible. It's fun to use though because you can look sideways while Rushing, but the downside makes it pretty bad.

  • I agree with removing the speed penalty on charge addons. Mother's Helpers would also be ok without the condition tied to it.

Charge addons on Billy were what allowed him to compete against the stronger survivors, and were only too much when stacked, which can be solved by simply not allowing them to stack.

Also unpopular opinion: engravings should not affect charge time. Blight and Oni are better killers than Billy, and both have speed addons which do not have any downside.

What do they consider an "universal perk"? Is it the ones that arent associated to any character?

Yup, perks like Whispers, Sloppy, Spine Chill, Resilience, etc.

  • I firmly believe Ruin or any other hex by themselves is a low tier perk, maybe average tier with Undying.

I was trying to use the buffed Blood Favor on my favorite killer (Huntress) and 9/10 matches the perk gets cleansed before I got any value out of it, sometimes I'd get value from it once before it was destroyed.

Now that boons are a thing and survivors look out more for totems, it's about time they buff the Hex system. Imo Hex totems should remain disguised as dull totems for at least 2 minutes, and for the love of god improve totem spawns.

  • Just had 2 cheaters in a row with Oni. Thankfully the 2nd one was a full team and they just wanted to farm, even gave me the 4k at the end.

  • If anything Dead Hard is unhealthy on teaching looping to survivors. I used to run Dead Hard when I had like 300 hours in the game and I thought I was good at looping. When I finally took it off was when I started improving.

You don't need to learn things like chaining tiles or lunging distances when you have a button that teleports you to the nearest pallet or window. Also things like learning how to dodge hatchets and Blight rushes. It's incredibly funny when those "loopers" start camping pallets after they spend their Dab Harder.

  • When they released map kill rates something like 2 years ago The Game had one of the highest. I guess they just went the "unga bunga" way of balance and decided to make it a carpenter simulator.

  • I'd rather play no traps Trapper than Hag. If I want to play a strategic I go to something like Darkest Dungeon, at the end of the day this is a chase based game.

  • My favorite change from the patch is that one that fixes an issue where Scott couldn't wake up.

  • DH is legit the most boring thing to go against in this game. That dabbing forward animation looks goofy and stupid, and the perk is stupidly overpowered. The new chapter comes with yet another exhaustion perk that is not going to see use because just like every other exhaustion perk it pales in comparison to DH.

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/KQYIHG0d8kc/maxresdefault.jpg Seriously, just look at that animation and tell me with a straight face this isn't goofy.

I understand how it works, cracks me up. The self absorption it must take to make your own fake patch video.

Idk what's funnier. His video, or the minnons that posted it 100 times on the forums

I mean, you have almost 4k posts on a game forum as well, and I doubt you make money here. It seems you too have a lot of free time.

I also have crossplay off and the time didn't really get longer for me. At night it even got faster even. I'm on PC tho, not sure if there's many players on console with cross off

Same here. As a PC player I think they should add a console-only crossplay option. Queues for survivor were better before crossplay anyway.

  • It should apply exhaustion to every survivor except the hooked one for 30 seconds. There you have a perk that rewards killers for snowballing and encourages not tunneling and slugging.

  • Looking at your build you seem to enjoy 5 minutes games. Against something like that killers don't exactly have time to keeping hooking survivors.

  • I think people who complain a lot play a lot of the low tier killers. Things like Legion, Pig, Trapper, etc. When you accept you have to stay with the killers that range from high B to S tier, killer isn't that hard.

  • Yes, but don't blame me for the hungover the next day.

I think the killer can get up there? It's a lot more finicky than all other ones sadly

I've seen people getting up there, but you have to lunge through the hole on the gallows to get a speed boost there, while survivors just need to vault the window to get to it. Definitely something not intentional imo.

  • As a killer main I hate NOED. I fully believe this single perk gives devs the wrong impression about how balanced the game truly is.

You ppl just focus on the extreme and completely ignore or miss the important points.

is what you’re saying true? Absolutely.

is what you’re saying the whole story? Not at all.

it’s about the simple fact that these attempts are getting closer and closer to the DbD formula. It’s a threat. Look how many streamers are getting hyped for literally anything else that comes close. Step outside your bias and see the big picture.

you think VHS is the end? Lol. No. It’s just come close enough to prove that DbD has to try harder now or be replaced. It’s really that simple.

In my opinion DBD is a huge success because of three things:

    1. It is a game with a huge skill ceilling, meaning even after hundreds or thousands of hours you still have things to learn;
    2. It has gameplay variety. Even if meta exists, the game still has more than 50 characters with almost 200 perks and ~35 maps at this point;
    3. Licenses. I'm on a Silent Hill Discord and when the chapter came out last year A LOT of them bought the game to try it out. Even if most of them already quit the game, BHVR still made money on them.

VHS has not a single one of the these. It doesn't seem to have a high skill ceilling, it still has very few characters and not even a single license. It might make some success unlike HSH or RE: Resistance, but if you believe it will even touch DBD you're very delusional.

"Look how many streamers are getting hyped for literally anything else that comes close". Most streamers who are hyped for VHS are not hyped for the game itself, they just want DBD to have competition so the devs are forced to make better changes. Most of them will still stay playing DBD, because that's where their revenue lies.

  • He's still very decent. You just have to run Monitor 24/7 to compensate the TR nerf (or else you'll deal with people running very early), but the gun is basically a muscle memory thing. I used to be very good on Slinger but now it's like I'm learning him again.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Which map was it on, out of curiosity? A lot of places you can get to as killer and survivor, so while they fix it you still have a workaround for a lot of tiles if someone decides to do it to you.

I think it's that cart near the gallows on Dead Dawg. You can get up there and the killer won't be able to pick you up.

  • If you think killers have it rough on DBD you won't like VHS at all. Seriously, I know some teams out there just want to make the person feel as miserable as possible, but VHS takes it to another level. If anything I predict some of these survivors leaving to play VHS, because that one is a real bully simulator.

It's actually just going to be another Home Sweet Home situation, seriosuly.

  • DPI only affects how much you have to move your mouse to do the flicks. I play a lot of Huntress and Slinger so my DPI can't be very high, and I can still do things like scoot surf and z flicks.

If you don't have a large mouse pad, or if your wrist is sensitive, you might want to consider higher DPI. If not, low will do.

https://youtu.be/NAh5JOKZf-E here's scoot surf on low DPI for example.

  • Deathslinger is S+ for me. It's so good I actually put an extended version of it on my gym playlist.

Then that'll even out in time. It could be a matter of them going on a winning streak (the omnipresent 'hides all game' survivor) that then runs into you after their MMR inflates.

And sure, you get the occasional bad matchup.

It's nowhere near as bad as it was before. It was fine for people with high MMR, but not for everyone else. Again, I'd have to dig up the old screenshots I took of the postgame match screens - nasty TTV premade after nasty TTV premade all day.

"Then that'll even out in time" except the system has been out for 2 months. It's funny because matches when it released were actually mostly fine, and I was praising the system, but it started getting worse and worse, and almost every killer player that I know is insanely stressed with the game. And you know what's more funny? The first matches were probably cool because MMR took the results from the matches with the Emblem System.

It's not really a matter of "you shouldn't win all the time". I'm actually winning WAY more than I was when the system first released (my kill rate on November rn is sitting at ~3,3, while on October it was less than 3). It's a matter of having actually fair matches where both sides have a chance of winning, and that's definitely not the experience I'm having. I recommend you have a look at the "x more minutes of streamers suffering with SBMM" by Choy on Youtube.

    What?

It's definitely changed. I can see the difference very clearly myself.

Most of my games are against people of a similar experience level on average. Sometimes I'll lose, sometimes I'll win - but there's seldom a game where I go 'well, I had no chance' or 'well, they had no chance'. Before MMR, I could be matched against almost complete newbies or insanely skilled SWFs with thousands of hours between them. Those games were never fun.

I've also seen a significant improvement over the past month. Either the system has been refined, or people have found their correct MMR positions and everything has stabilized.

Now, there are still some odd moments and matchups - I'm guessing that lobby dodges result in parameters being widened to find a new killer ASAP, that sometimes the system is down for maintenance/tweaking and that there are situations where people at both the very high end and very low end wait in a queue for ages and get bizarro teams - but these are a pretty rare occurrence.

For the most part, my match quality has been drastically increased.

"Before MMR, I could be matched against almost complete newbies or insanely skilled SWFs with thousands of hours between them. Those games were never fun." That's exactly my experience with MMR. Every match feels like a "will I stomp or be stomped" gamble. I still win most of my games but it doesn't feel like it's because I go against equally skilled players. Every team feels like there's a weak link with <500 hours who I can exploit to win.

The old system wasn't actually that bad. People like to say that being rank 1 didn't mean that much, but the emblem system at least felt more detailed than the "unga bunga kill escape" that we have now. Everything it needed was to never match people who were 4 ranks away from you (so rank 1s would never go against people under rank 5 for example) no matter how long the queues were, and maybe don't let people who are also 4 ranks away SWF.

  • Can't wait for Trapper on Fortnite.

  • He's only decent if you play around Chain Hunts. If you're not getting Chain Hunts, he sucks.

  • That's just the way the game is balanced. There's no way to make killers like Legion and Pig compete without either making them braindead oppressive (something stupid like Legion being able to down in two Frenzy hits) or making all tiles as safe as Hawkins pallets, but then with the latter killers like Blight and Spirit also become oppressive.

As a killer main I don't bother playing anything less than High B tier unless it's for dailies. Anything below that relies too much on lack of coordination and survivors being bad at chases.

You can hear them from a 28 meter actually (the sound effect is the same range as PTB).

It’s pretty distinct for me at least, but I also can hear survivor breathing most of the time unless its bugged

You are living the dream, Labrac. I am envious of your position.

Thanks. BBQ on 99% of my matches + killer short queues + BP offerings was the way I got this achievement.

  • @gatsby said:

Not really. Using Soul Guard that way still has the same issue as Boon: Exponential.

The Killer can hear the boon, which would make them suspicious. It’s sort of like No Mither the giveaway means you’d rarely get to use it.

Unless you’re slugged a super long time and can crawl to a boon away from where you were downed, but at that point the time efficiency is still in the Killer’s favor

You're talking like the killer can hear the boon from really far away. They have a 24m radius, and you have to be basically upon them (something like 5 or 6m) to hear them as killer.

You can use em on other char and save 1m for new chapter

I already have all perks on all my killers and on the survivors that I play on. I'll be basically buying items/addons only.

  • Whyyyyyyy couldn't they make it after the chapter releases? If the BP cap wasn't a thing I wouldn't be mad, but with 1 million you can barely get a half decent build.

  • Because hur dur kill rate too gud

First of all, Link the video... Second, While he is asking the community for their input, and his opinion is that he and others aren't happy with it, the Youtube/Streaming community doesn't represent all of us. While DbD players may view his channel, his followers only represent a fraction of the amount of DbD players, So unless he gets ALL of the other Fog Whisperer/DbD Streamers/Youtubers to ask their own followers the exact same question... The results of his inquiry amounts to little more than 1/1000th of the overall community.

Otz's video may be striking the right mark on this by honestly asking the community how much they love or hate SBMM/MMR in DbD, but unless his question is asked by At least 51% of the streamers/youtubers that play this game, it won't amount to anything, much like a fart in the wind: smelled by maybe the 1 person closest to it, but ultimately doesn't phase anyone.

Link the Vid if you want to get his point/message to others quickly, but that alone will only affect those in the Forums as much as they are willing to actually view it, which is admittedly a small percentage, but not worth the effort, so by all means express and link this in Reddit, and any other social media you can think of to increase viewership and responses. Then of course, Suggest to OTHER streamers/youtubers to ask the same question, because 1 voice with 100 followers is not enough to move a nation, but 100,000 voices with 10,000,000 followers is enough to move a country/nation!

    EDIT:

Only AFTER this is accomplished, can we actually see any real results from the Developers at Behavior.

Otz video has now 157k views with 12k likes. DBD has a daily average of 50k thousand players on Steam. If we estimate console has around ~150k more, his video reaches way, way more than 1/1000th of the community.

He's by far the most popular DBD content creator. His community might not even come close to the entirety of the DBD playerbase, but it's safe to assume he represents the average player very well.

  • He gives 8 free health states to survivors. A killer like that can never be underrated.

He looks incredible when survivors actually try to loop you, because he can't be looped at all. However, when you go against those survivors that run immediately when they hear your TR you realize how lackluster this killer is.

Zombies are far from being "amazing map pressure". It's mediocre at best.

I’m starting to think you didn’t even read what I said. First off point out where I said “turning rate addons are good.” Second off, DPI does affect the flicks and curves. I play blight on pc and have adjusted my mouse dpi to curve around corners. Having it cranked up let’s you do some dumb things.

"Add one of the turn add ons or both and it’s crazy how they can get curves that realistically shouldn’t happen." Your own words. Turning rate addons don't affect flicks.

Again, since that update that removed J flicks a high DPI only affects the amount of distance you have to move your mouse to get a flick. The curves you can get are the SAME.

  • @Mileena_Kahn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2656461#Comment_2656461

It’s not gone. I play blight on pc as well and adjusting your DPI affects just the curve alone. Add one of the turn add ons or both and it’s crazy how they can get curves that realistically shouldn’t happen.

Higher DPI just lets you get the same flicks without having to move your mouse through half of your desk, the flick itself is the same in both low and high DPI.

The fact you think the turning rate addons are good shows you don't really know anything about Blight.

  • DPI flicks are gone, I don't even know why people still complain about those. If controller players can't do the things the PC Blight can (pretty sure they can though, even if it's harder), then BHVR should adjust it for them.
