A perk hardly used
I've seen it enough over the years to still take it into account. But whether it's used or not the smartest option is always to 99 the gates, even if it's only to give you plenty of time to rescue another teammate.
-
It would be fun but it would have the Friday 13th effect where some matches you would get people role playing the character which were honestly the most fun and hilarious matches I've ever played. But most of the time you would just get angry teens shouting slurs and abuse at other players.

Of course, and I completely agree with you. This is just a game. However, the rub is when people say things like "well just git guud", or "it doesnt happen that much", or my favy,,,"camping/tunneling is a valid tactic because the devs say so". Well if a five year old can do it its not so much a tactic as it is a way for lazy gamers to win and the problem is it is happening a lot more and I have only been playing for a few months. It is so prevalent now a lot more survivor players DC and suicide on the hook because of it. This hurts everyone and the hard work they put into the game pipping up and obtaining/keeping ranks.
I get it's annoying I've been dealing with it for 4 years with this game and it's been something that's happened since day 1.
The problem is to many survivors play into their plan and try and swarm the hook against a camper or chase after someone getting tunnelled instead of just doing the gens and punishing the killer for playing like that.
If everyone just split up and did gens and left the killer with 1 kill for camping everytime they did it after so many games of that happening they would soon change their playstyle. But while ever survivors don't play smart and give them the win because they think just doing gens is boring they will continue to do it, because it works.
-
It's a great idea and I'd love it but the devs like the grind because they feel it keeps people playing, which is right to a point.
Id like to see a change to prestige, so for example if you p2 a character all the perks you have unlocked start at tier 2 and p3 they can be unlocked at tier 3.
This would help with the huge grind in this game without massively impacting it to the point where you get everything to quickly.

You know I learned from others about 99 cause I watched them when I first became a survivor. It baffles me that a rank 1 would act like that.
It honestly happens a lot more at rank 1 for me because a lot of rank 1's are still under the impression that rank matters and will do anything to ensure they pip and keep their rank.
Weirdly I find lower ranks will run in and try there best to help the team more, even though they usually aren't that good and die in the process lol.
-
I just wish people would 99 the gate and realise bloodwarden is a thing lol.
But honestly this is just one of the perils of playing solo, you have some solo survivors who will go out of there way to help the team and you have others that just play for themselves.

Sorry, simply putting someone on the hook at the start of the game then going invisible (like with the Wraith) while still sitting there and downing players one at a time is just plain lazy and makes for a bad game even for the killer. There is no effort in doing that. Heck a five year old kid can do that. It is just effective at winning and if that's the direction this game is going in they wont be having a hard time getting killers to play,, there will be no survivors playing. Then I guess killer mains will have to off each other LOL. These boards have exploded with camping and tunneling complaints some of which are crap and however, many in the obverse are valid. They cant be dismissed. I just play through them but it pisses me off when I depip and lose rank because killers simply camp and tunnel knowing someone will come in for the save and it DOES NOT matter how good you are at the game it is over unless your playing SWF which I dont.
I only play solo but I understand that if I'm playing an online game you are subjecting yourself to go against whatever strategy the other side wants to use.
Whether you like it or not the fact is that's just how games work when you're playing against other people. It's something you can either accept or be upset by something that's never going to change, which is a waste of time and emotion. There's more than enough things happening in the real world to be worried and upset by, something that happens in a video game that I have no control over isn't worth being bothered about.

Oh I never take it that seriously at all and I have only been playing around 4 months or so and in that short time I have seen a marked and noticeable change in the game. Tunneling and camping has increased to the point that I see it every night where I used to see it sparingly. Just because something it not against the rules doesnt make it okay in my eyes. And, it will possibly change when enough people stop playing and the devs step in to save the game. Will that happen,,,maybe? I have seen games change things radically in order to save a dying game. When or if this game will get to that point remains to be seen.
The devs have said this is a tactic whether it's a good or bad one depends on the team they're against.
Plus if they ever did change it the killer players in this game have gone down significantly already so if this change came in it would be the final nail in the coffin and we would have to play lobby simulator when trying to get into a match as survivor.
You can't put rules and changes in place because someone doesn't like a specific playstyle because once you do that the can of worms opens and everyone starts demanding that changes be made because they don't like something in the game.

Everyone, and I mean everyone says they are not a fan of this yet it happens so much today it is insane??? Either some people are just flat out lying or just very lucky to not have it happen to them. If you play every day like me you see this crap constantly. I am a red rank survivor and see it consistently in almost every game it is insane! I never saw it in the purple or lower ranks so what is the deal with red rank killers? Just because something is not against the rules doesn't mean it should happen? When you play against a prestige killer (like the Wraith I did two times last night) there is no DAMN reason why he needs to tunnel then camp from the first hook but he did. C'mon, if your that high in the ranks shouldn't you not have to rely on that type of lazy game play all the time?
I've been playing this game for 4 years and this kind of playstyle has been in the game since day 1. I don't particularly enjoy it but it's not against the rules and people can play the game however they like so I don't see the point in complaining about something that's never going to change. Just have to accept that it is what it is and just have fun with it no matter what the outcome of a match is. Besides it just a video game it shouldn't be taken that seriously.
-
If someone wants to play that way they can. Sure it isn't to fun to go against but it doesn't happen that often and I'd rather just recover and go on my phone for a few mins if no one picks me up instead of being upset about something that's not going to change. Plus unbreakable exists.

those playstyles still happen though so ...
I know I never said they didn't and I have no problem with them. I'm simply saying that the devs have tried to discourage this playstyle before with not giving the killer a hook counter for each survivor for example, so that's likely why they wouldn't change it to be a 4K instead of performing well as a killer.
-

People already do this if they really want a 4k and honestly even if at red rank it's not always easy to get a 4k, if you try hard enough/get 1 ######### survivor you'll get it without sweating too much.
I agree I don't really have a problem with it. Got all my adepts this way and it only takes one bad survivor to create a snowball effect.
-
I agree to a point but I would imagine they're trying to avoid the whole slugging at 5 gens and using these kind of play styles to get the achievement.
I also don't mind if someone plays like this because they can play however they like but the devs probably just don't want to promote this themselves.
-
It's the survivors mistake. To many run to the first gen they see on the side of the map instead of getting the middle gens done first and stopping any chance of being in a 3 gen situation.
-
It's been nice to be able to find some decent items in chests for a change instead of brown toolboxes.
In all seriousness though they need to change the chance keys are found. Plus I'll take a purple flashlight or medkit any day over a key, all I do with keys is add them to my collection lol.
-
It's boring because if you go against solos it's usually a stomp and against SWF if they are just efficient at splitting up on gens you lose in minutes.
Plus if you win you are a tunneling, slugging camper even if you haven't done any of these. Also if you lose it's GG EZ baby killer git gud. I can deal with idiots like this but for a lot of people after a while it just becomes draining and not worth it when you can just chill on survivor instead.

Did I actually say they can't? I asked where the fun went...
Their having fun, just because you aren't isn't their problem. It's an online game so long as they are playing within the rules they can play however they like. If you don't like that then you're best suited to offline games where you don't have to play with other people.
-
Moral of the story is don't dc so if issues like these happen you only have to wait 5 mins.

There's a difference between trying your best and having fun and trying your best and ruining the game for everyone else
I'm not a fan of camping tunneling etc or SWF gen rushing. However it's not against the rules so who am I to tell anyone that they can't play the game however they want to play it?

This is a discussion forum not a circle jerk to only agree with what you have to say.
-
Everybody's version of fun is different. You can't say someone else's is invalid because it doesn't match up with your own.
-
It's just a case of people playing a match that they know the other side doesn't have a chance of winning.
A SWF with a map offering for the most survivor side map in the game and 2 OoO. They pretty much played the game on super easy mode to display their dominance because they know that if they played solo without all their crutches they wouldn't stand a chance.
-
This thread made me lol, wasn't what I was expecting but definitely put a smile on my face.
In all seriousness though Kate will always be best girl โบ๏ธ
-
I tried doing it 5 games in a row and it didn't work so I've just moved onto another challenge thinking it was bugged tbh.
-
If they added a totem counter I honestly wouldn't have a problem with it being base kit.
It would also highlight to survivors that this is actually a second objective.
-
Because the survivor ones you've listed are part of the game mechanics and not done using third party software. Besides half of the survivor ones are dumb like the window or dumb tech and an experienced killer will easily punish the survivor for using them.
-
I'd still try and go for the save unless I knew the killer was camping just for the points and I don't really care much if I survivor or not honestly.
I don't expect the other survivor to just give up though because maybe they care about not ranking down and the struggle points can mean the difference between safety and de-pipping.
I'll admit though I will stay on hook as long as possible if I know the last survivor has done nothing all match but crouch around avoiding gens and saves so the killer has time to get them.
-
The cool down wouldn't make a difference and it could never go back to how old self care use to work because that was way to busted to go against.
-
I just type "gg wp :)" then sit back and smile while I watch the salt roll out of them because they haven't got what they wanted.
I've come up with numerous counters over the years like if they say I'm a baby killer I just put yeah you're right I suck at this game, you played really well though :). It's honestly funny watching their plan backfire while they just end up getting more annoyed than they wanted you to be in the first place lol.
-
The survivors that use these words in those circumstances clearly only play one side so you shouldn't care honestly.
I had a match yesterday where I had two people hooked in a 3 gen and they got mad because I saw another survives scratch and didn't leave that area, like they expect me to go to the other side of the map where all the gens are done and let them get rescued for free and get the gens done lmao.
-
It wouldn't work in this game because the killer is faster than the survivor running so they would hit them once and then they would just get them again because their stamina would run out.
It worked in games like Friday the 13th for example because even the running Jasons were slower than the councillors and they had cabins to jump in and ways to get themselves time to recover it and continue the chase.
-
Oh god here we go again ๐๐
-
They should just have a proper report system for the chat and monitor it so if someone's insulting another player they get a time out from being able to use it for a day, then a week, then a month and finally a permanent ban from using chat if they haven't learnt their lesson by then.
Should be an instant permanent ban from using it for slurs or telling someone to kill them selves though because that's never acceptable.
-
The only people that are annoyed at the change are the ones that used ds as an invulnerability perk to sit on gens and get saves in your face. The ones that actually used it to stop killers actually tunneling them still use it.

Playing killer is a single player game. Think about that for 10 seconds. How many single player games can you think of on Steam, tons right. How many games can you play with your friends. Not many, right. That's the allure of playing survivor. But what's the allure of playing killer? It has nothing to do with how easy or hard killer is, it has everything to do with the fact that humans are social and half of this game is not.
I've been playing this game for 4 years and only play solo so I don't need to think about it all thank you. I'll just go off the facts that the majority of players enjoy survivor more and more than half are solos.

Too bad I was playing solo then.
Yeah I only play solo and she's the only killer I really hate going against. I don't play her when I play killer either but I understand why she's needed to deal with the major difference in balance between solos and SWF.
-
@konchok said:

because people like to play with their friends. And killer is honestly more complicated. More complicated is not the same as harder. Playing killer is easier to win than survivor, the stats make that clear, but there's more to playing killer than survivor.
I only play solo survivor and I still find that much more enjoyable than playing killer. If killer was so easy way more people would be playing and I wouldn't have to wait 10 mins to get a match as survivor.
-
If I'm playing killer it just makes the match easy and kinda boring.
As a survivor it can be annoying but if they do it against a spirit I get it.
-
The only one of any use is mad grit and that's only for a basement build the other two perks just aren't worth running so it wouldn't make much difference imo.
-
If that's true why do the majority of players mostly play survivor and the amount of killers has been declining.
-
Spirits a hard one because on one hand as a solo survivor I hate going against spirit especially when she has strider. However as someone that plays killer as well I understand she's a necessary evil to deal with a decent SWF team.
-
It wouldn't work because there are to many people that complain no matter what.
I don't want salty people putting stuff on my profile because I looped them to long as survivor or I play well as killer and their mad because they lost.
-

ON SWF you can run builds that are actually fun instead of dead hard, iron will, DS, adrenaline, resiliance, spinechill, lithe, OoO and those common ones
Because you don't need any perks when the games that heavily balanced in your favour.

I'd rather a swf than have a pc Jake who was rank 10 literally not touch a gen for over 10 minutes vs a Trapper. No joke he just hide the whole time with Urban Evasion while me and a mate tried to do the last gen..
I'd rather that then a 4min match in a SWF where you barely safety pip and get barely any interaction with the killer. Give me a challenge any day and even if I have no chance of winning at least it's more fun for me than playing on easy mode every match.
-
If I see a SWF sometimes I'll dodge and sometimes I'll think you know what I'll go and just try my best.
-
It's just a buzzword they like to throw out there.
You leave someone on the floor because they just got farmed and instead of hooking them you give them a chance to get picked up. - "You're a dirty slugging killer".
You hook a survivor and another one is right there looping you around the person on the hook. - "You're a dirty camping killer".
Someone comes off the hook and runs at you with BT and you hit them. "You're a dirty tunnelling killer".
Some people in this game just like to throw out these words because they think if the killer uses these tactics they lost because the killers bad instead of the fact that there probably not as good at the game as they think they are.

I am not sure how you can say that
with server issues and latency
it makes her one of the most unbalanced killers for both sides.
Latency is a problem for every killer. I have played this game for years and been hit over pallets and from far away from every killer.
-
They never announced it before the 30th so I'd say so now they officially said it will be out for then.
-
That's the amusing thing that the same player that teabags and makes lots of noise when they find the hatch will complain when a killer slugs for the 4K lol. I mean what do you expect when you act like that when they don't.
