Mories are fine since they are inconsistent. They heavily depend on killer's and survivor's skill unline BNP that is extremely easy to pull off without killer having a say in the matter.
Right now both are in a good spot, fair but powerfull enough considering each's advantages and disadvantages.

Translation: The upcoming pallet changes will allow any new killer to bloodlust any survivor no matter where they are allowing even new killers to win against the most experienced survivors in the world. Why on earth would anybody want to play survivor if skill doesn't get rewarded?
I've been a killer main when pallet vaccuums and multiple sprint bursts during a chase were a thing. Even back then I won most games as Huntress without ruin or noed till I hit purple ranks. It's just sad where this game is going. Even the worst killer is supposed to win against experienced survivors "bEcAuSe It'S tHe PoWeR rOlE!!!".
Right now it feels like I can't lose even if I wait for a minute at the beginning of a match. Haven't lost a single game in weeks. But sure, let's make it so any killer can 4k at all times and say "it now takes more skill to win as survivor" when in reality survivors are getting robbed of any opportunity to win a chase.
I hope you'll start twitch streaming so that we can behold your godlike skill in action. Until then your bragging has no credibility to actuall balancing of DBD.
Really go ahead and start twitch streaming for a week so that we can enjoy sight of real skillful gameplay that only you can pull off. If what you say is true then you should have no issue of winning every game all the time and show us how easy playing killer is.
-
Give Ace one too please.
-
So how about we punished survivors for doing gens too fast. If you want to punish killers for doing their objective it's only fair to punish survivors the same isn't it ?
-
Be glad, now you can play the way you like (killing people) knowing that you are skillful and not rank up too fast. If you want to rank up just play killer's with high emblem gains and just basically farm with survivors as emblems expect you to.
Ranks still just represent your willingness to farm/bend your gameplay to unoptimal plays to get more points and how often you play DBD and not your actuall skill.

I don't know then, maybe casual mode should be introduced, so if you're locked at R4 with any killer at least you can have the option to play them without caring about winning/losing.
I'd love that. Pity it will most likely never happen.

You're trying to tell me the game should be more considerate of long time veterans that took a break (and already know HOW to get good) than new players that are just learning the basics?
I mean, veteran players that took a break are getting discouraged facing the best players right away? What are they, chumps?
If new players are dying 90% of the time they simply won't keep playing, that's the sad truth and why this game won't ever be balanced around R1. All the kiddos picking up the game and buying the new characters and cosmetics will go away. That means there will be no game for anyone.
As I said right now ranking system is just to put people who play a lot of DBD and people who don't. It doesn't represent skill and never will since DBD has far to many chaotic elemets to accuretly represent players skill.
New players have their rank 20-16 which is only for them, once you pass it you aren't new anymore and have to start gitting gud. If they die 90% they let them go play killers and kill new survivors in 90% of their matches and enjoy all the fun killer have with DBD.
Also you think that some new kiddo will buy all the chaptes and many auric cells for skins like old school players did (myself included) ? I think not unless they have around 90 spare euros laying around.

And yeah, utopically all killers should be equally strong and viable.
I didn't design the game. And no one will re-design it from 0 to 10 at this point. Just look at how long has Freddy's rework taken.
They helped a lot then-trash tiers like Hag and Wraith with their quick fixes at least. Trapper isn't strong yet but isn't as weak as before. Doc and LF may be looked into for a quick fix too, in the near future. Clown is not very popular but I think he's a solid average killer.
I don't talk/care about Legion, so, whatever.
Plague has just been released, and GF is killing a lot of people right now.
There are options at least.
Freddy is taking so long since his power is flawed to the core. Most of the killers need just some number buffs and some other maybe 1 or 2 new mechanics mostly for mobility or so.
Problem is that devs are to afraid to try and will never make random PTB with weak killer buffs to see the outcome and then decide if those changes should be implemented or not.
All that needs to happen is for devs to finnally start at least trying to fix them but they rather say that "not all killer are supposed to be viable" bs.

Fun matches with non-meta killers? That's why you'll rank them up individually.
"You think that prayer beads, omega blink nurse, instasaw billy are ok?"
Depends on what are you using them for. If you use them to level the playfield against 4man SWF with toolboxes or instaheals, yes, they're fine. (I'm not really familiar with omegablink since I play on PS4. To be honest, I don't even know what omegablink truely is. Some say it's the double range addons, some say it's the 5 blink addons)
Is 4man SWF fine? Well the same goes for them, if it's being used to troll noobs, it damn sucks. If it's to play the game at its highest level at R1, go ahead, bring your A-game.
If you brought your lowly Trapper all the way to the red ranks, you have a good understanding of the game already. Bring your bloody coils and trapper bags, and remember to equip NOED.
Yes but if I recall you said they'll never go back down once they're rank 1 (lower then rank 4). So If I get them there I'll be stuck there forever and I'll get there very fast. Right now I can be wherever I feel like but if they were rank locker I wouldn't be able to face rank 1s unless I wanted to exclude myself from facing anyone else besides them. It's good to have freedom of choice.
As I said I'm not a psychic, I can't tell when I face SWF and not every medkit has instaheal and using best addons on players who just play casualy and got to rank 1 eventually doesn't feel right if you do it far too often.
I want to play any killer and have fun and good chance to win no matter what opponets I face. Having diversity is healthy for game such as DBD and right now constant spam of nurse/billy isn't fun for those playing them or those facing them(also you don't know how many people just dc when they hear omega blink nurse). There are 16 killers for god's sake. Let me play them on high ranks without having feeling to rip my hair out after some specific matches.
Rank 1 isn't about tryharding, it's for players who play a lot of DBD and are pretty good at it. Not gods not tryhards but people who have fun and manage to win more then lose.

You'd be locked in the red ranks, yes.
But that's why I proposed the "anti-genrush" solutions, strictly for the red ranks. If you managed to get there playing LF without trolling, means you're good enough. The "anti-genrush" system will allow LF be more viable in the red ranks. I don't see the problem.
Read that post, maybe that's why we seem to not be in the same frequency.
Edit: And I don't understand about R10 being so fun right after reset. I mean, R10 is populated by the R1s and R2s of the day before, so basically you're facing the same guys. Unless you wait for a week or something.
Rank reset right now is mainly for players who didn't play for long time to not face right away best of the best and be discouraged or to have easier time after long break. Soon there will be rank rewars (probably) so it will have another reason then.
Anti gen rush just needs to happen for the sake of game itself, nobody besides toxic SWF groups like to have 6-8 min matches. And yes It would make LF more viable but the real question is what is more fun and easier to do.
To buff all killers to be high rank viable now or to change the core of the game to make current weak killers strong but not make current strong killers OP. I think it's more fun to rework/update weak killers and make some addon changes to strong killers and also that this would be much easier to do then reworking how gens work.
Gen rushung is just 1 of the issues like bad map desgin, looping beiing uncounterable, SWF over cooperation and such.

If they got good then they aren’t constantly losing.
Winning or losing really doesn't matter if the match wasn't fun. I've beated many tryhard SWF groups and got beaten by many. Problem is that even the wins were frustrating and unfun.
But balancing needs to happen around high ranks since that's where you end up by getting good. Low ranks need to git gud so that they become high ranks around which the game is supposed to be blanced to be fun.

By all means, use them. Especially against the dreaded SWFs at red ranks. That's what I do if I see 4 guys popping at the same time, all carrying lunchboxes, I turn to Billy/Huntress/Spirit and use their most effective add-ons. Ebonies are reserved for Quad-dettes, though.
Addons will give variety to certain killers' powers, but there are others so basic that there's not much to tinker with. What else do you want to do with Trappers' traps? I even find the self-setting one a very dumb one.
Wraith has a lot of variety, he has aura reading, the windstorms ones, the movement and action speed ones, the silence ones. I just typed the combos that have best worked for me in the red ranks.
And I just want to have enjoyable match with baseline killers that are not meta. Why should I go through all the frustration of facing good survivors with bad killers that I want to enjoy when it's so easy to buff them and make them viable baseline. You say that addons make killers like wraith balanced so it's ok to have them weak baseline but you didn't mention your opinion on strong killer using strong addons.
You think that prayer beads, omega blink nurse, instasaw billy are ok ?
Since by your logic addons these addons should be left alone since when bad killers are made viable by adddons then strong killers are supposed to be OP with strong addons right. Since making all killers good baseline and then making addons less impactfull would be a bad idea hmm ?
And what's worst is that even then even with best addons low tier killers still can't beat really good SWF groups. Addon reliant killers are extremely bad design and very strong addons need some serious drawbacks or to be counterable.

Then we've just found the reason you'd be against rankings being locked. You like to derank.
I don't underestimate LF, I play him regularly.
Ofc since I don't play meta killers and I get soooo sick of gen rushing with weak killers. For the sake of my sanity of old school player I need to relax sometims not caring if I win or lose just to have some fun trolling around and deranking as side effect.
Your system doesn't solve the issue, it reinforces it since i dearank max to rank 10 then it's fine since players there are FUN to face most of the time. If your system would exist I would be forced to derank 3 times more then I do now.

Unless you're not earning enough of them, for all that hard camping as LF.
Bro I have all perks on all killers except GF. Last thing I need is BP. I have stocked more then 700 ebony mories over all killers. If I wanted easier games I would just start using addons and offerings.
You don't seem to get that killer power are supposed to be strong baseline and addons are supposed to be game changing fun way to make game feel more lively.

But if low ranks aren’t having fun then they’ll quit. The game has to be balanced for everyone some how.
Same goes for high ranks but losing them is much worse since they are players who already got good and most likely spend a lot of money on DBD since many high rank players are veterans of DBD supporting it for a long time.
Losing low ranks means that they didn't have patience to get better and when you play DBD you need A LOT of patience so now big loss overall.

If you hard camp as LF at R4 I guarantee you'll not get a single kill. They'll come at you loaded with instaheals, MoM's, DS's, DH's, and BT's left and right.
The only fun you'll be ruining is yours.
Lol then why am I constantly getting people who run into my basement when I play troll build to derank in red ranks. It happens far more often then it should.
Don't underestimate even bad killers. It's very easy to kill 1 person if you camp with LF, sometimes you'll get even 2. I would know since that how it goes many times I play him to derank a little.

If you actually did that (taking LF to R1 and forever camp everyone) in my proposed system you'd be deranked to R4 at most.
That way, your ineffective playstyle will forever be countered by people that know how to play the game, instead of allowing you to go all the way down to R10 (by reset) and R15 (by artificially deranking) and do the exact same trolling to people who DON'T know how to counter it.
Lol you don't seem to get it. I can ruin people's experience and they have no way of getting away from me. If I do as I said now I'll derank to low ranks and they need to get better so that they can climb out up to rank 1. In your system I'll stay whenever I want since I have range of 5 ranks to derank. If I want to bully rank 15-20 I can with any killer any time since hty have seperate rank, and no one can force me out and I can still get 1-2 people even at rank 4 and ruin their experience forever. Bassicly I would be able to switch between ranks and play as toxic as I want without ever beiing punised.
Ranking system will still put people in rank 1 into my lobby and they they'll be forced to forever play against me. High ranks right now are supposed to be place where you won't see many hard campers and such who don't know any better since their playstyle is ineffective there. With your system even they can get there and never out ruining everyone's fun.

They would be viable, you’d just have to learn how to properly use them.
Oh really, properly playing M1 killer hmm. It feels like it's pointless to argue with you if you think the likes of wraith or freddy are high rank viable. I'll leave you to your own universe in which all killers seem to be properly balance and can deal with best of what survivors have to offer.

Technically you can, killers like Spirit, nurse, billy and hag can deal with swf.
Really good SWF group is near unbeatable, you can defeat them but it's going to be because of their mistakes and incredible amount of work from your side. Luckily there are many really bad SWF groups (main reason why SWF hasn't been nerfed yet btw).
DBD isn't balanced around the idea of perfect cooperation. Even 4 good non SWF players can dominate easily if they luckily end up in the same match.

I had good matches against other killers.
And I had good matches against billies. Individual experience doesn't matter. Core issue is still that bad killers should be high rank viable so that good players don't have to derank so that they can enjoy them.

That's just possible because artificially deranking exists and allows it.
My solution includes a way to fight gen rush at the red ranks, so no "locked forever" in SWF genrush BS. Yes, you'll go against SWF, just git gud. The main issue with facing them is genrush, so I think it'd be fair.
Besides, if you're really good at Billy or Spirit, you shouldn't be terrorizing people at every rank reset. Man up and play against the big boys.
Edit: Also I advocate for individual rankings for killers, like I said in my other post. If I wanna have fun playing Piggy, I'll play her in an adequate rank.
If you remove deranking you don't have ranking system since noone can lose. Also what stops me to get Leatherface to rank 1 and then forever facecamp every game everyone ?
Individual ranking isn't good idea either since most of killer are very simmiliar in base design, noob are getting crushed by poweless trapper so that would cause far greater number of really good killer to crush noobs far more often then now.
Btw I can't gid gud against SWF since I don't psychic powers or killer buddy to play with. Where is my good damm murder with a friend mode devs !!!

When I was new billy destroyed me easily, making all killers high skill cap killer and viable would be buffing them.
And who wasn't destroyed when they were new. We all went through the process. Buffing weak killer to be strong on high ranks doesn't equal to making them hard to play. Giving them more power while keeping them simple opens relaxing gameplay without fearing of getting stomped by good players.
-

Lock ranks in brackets once and for all. Reds will be reds always, purples purples, etc. Once you've reached R1 in the new pip system there's no reason for you (or your peers and enemies) to play at R10 again. That's the only way I see it could happen.
If you decide to smurf, fine, do it without all your perks, addons and whatnot.
I just know buffing killers is not viable/healthy for the game. Killers are slaughtering everyone all the way up to R12 or 13, kind of. And buffing them will inevitably lead to more and more BS to artificially keep noobs alive.
You have no idea how many people would quit DBD if your idea would come to pass. It would encourage to people to never leave lower ranks since they would be locked forever in SWF gen rush bs. Many people would play normal game, rank up, then play trolling game to derank so they don't have to fear of not beiing able to play non viable killer while also having a bit of fun.
-
@GrootDude said:

But if we buff every killer to his level (low skill cap) then low ranks will get constantly demolished and that isn’t good for the health of this game, high skill cap killers will make high ranked survivors think(by this I mean they’d be viable) and won’t destroy low ranks.
Lol, have you ever seen low rank hillbilly. They constantly bump into trees n stuff and get baited by pallets very easily. Low ranks start to become frustrating for new players when old school players get fed up with playing nurse etc and decide to derank to play non-viable killers against noobs. That's the real issue with low ranks. Buffing weak killers can only help the game in EVERY aspect. Look at freddy, he's incredibly weak but for low ranks he's nightmare (pun intended). On low ranks all killers are viable no matter how bad they are so buffing them won't change anything for noobs who just have to gid gud.
-
@Peanits said:
The Spirit Fury + Enduring combo is pretty powerful, as other people have mentioned. They'll have to either throw pallets down early (fewer loops) to avoid it, or get greedy and go for the stun and end up getting hit.
There are quite a few spots where even when you pull of the combo, there is enough time to get to another pallet. Also once survivor knows about it, he never gets hit by it again if he's a good player.

Precisely why he isn’t a good balance target.
He is, since he proves that killers doesn't have to be able to counter loops to be viable. If you give killer dangerous power and good mobility, they can be high rank viable. Not all killers have to give you a migraine if you play them constantly. Having strong not that hard to play killers is very healthy for the game.

@GrootDude said:
@Kebek I’d say buff them to spirit and hag level, billy has a low skill cap so we need more high skill cap top tier killers. Doing this could actually eliminate the need of a second objective.
Billy can have lower skill cap because his power is countered by looping, hag and spirit can counter loops with luck and a lot of skill, billy can't, he's just dangerous in open spaces or to people without eyes.

Most strong pallet loops have a window and a pallet.
And they also have another 5-10 very strong just close enough pallets for bamboozle to not matter.
-
I agree that genrush needs a fix and a second objective could be that fix but if we added one then noed would probably need nerfed and the top four killers would too since they can already deal with gen rush.
We do realise it and no noed is at most mediocre perk and even top killers have very hard time against skilled survivors.
What we should do is buff weak killer to at least somewhere around Hillbilly/Hag level, not OP but still quite dangerous. Also there needs to be set limit on lowest amount of time in which gens can be done, even with not much interference like 6-8 minutes is far too low.
-
All these people claiming that perks like spirit fury of bamboozle are good against pallet looping. Pallet looping means running around pallet, not jumping through windows or throwing down pallets but running around them.
Also even if there was such a perk to help against pallet looping not like beiing forced to play 4 chase perks on weak killers to have better chance against baseline in game survivor mechanic is healthy design right.
-
Loop him = easy win
He's at most high mid tier.

Pretty much what I keep saying. No matter how hard things like healing, DS, etc. are nerfed, there will loud mouths wanting more severe nerfs. I despise tunnelers even more than campers and DS is fine now. Anything less than 60 seconds and it would be worthless perk as the killer will just wait out the timer with no real penalty. Killer may spend half that time or longer anyway just trying to chase the injured unhooked. Time is the penalty if the killer doesn't have a pair.
We all dislike some parts about the game. Me for example dislike heavily skillless plays that DS still allows and getting punished for other player's stupid decisions.
We don't want DS nerfed, we want it to be antitunneling perk. Now it punishes not just tunnelers but also other playstyles. Almost nobody's suggestion posted wouldn't make DS useless trash tier perk but rather gave it more antitunneling advantages while also removing the power trip aspects that it still has.

Tough luck I'm drowning in them. I got about 60 already and I did't even do that many bloodwebs.

How is it a 1 minute immunity perk? You can slug the survivor if you want. You choose what to do and what to expect.
Yeah you slug them and then you have to babysit them otherwise they get up again for free if you don't or they can even enter the locker and you're boned.
-
Ok let me ask you this. What do you think is DS purpose ? What skillful action did survivor do to deserve 1 minute of immunity from harm. Why should he get it. Since right now it certainly isn't antitunneling perk, it's 1 minute immunity for getting hooked perk.
I don't really mind new DS but I wonder what's wrong with asking about healthy changes to most controversial perk in DBD's existence.
-
@tehshadowman33 said:
I think it should deactivated (but not count as its 1-time use) if:
- DS Survivor unhooks another survivor
- DS Survivor completes or helps to complete a generator
- The killer hooks one of the 3 other survivors who don't have DS active
This way, the perk is more risk and reward. I'd be even willing to let the timer go up to 80 seconds.
Yes that would make it more of antitunneling perk but survivors would rather keep current version which is more of a 1 minute immunity perk then anything else. Like what survivor is getting tunneled when he has time to save/repair gens or killer has even enough time to hook someone else. So much for tunneling.

If you remove everything it's not a grind then, one of the appealing things, that keeps people coming back is the grind, if you make it so you only have to do 200ish webs to max what's the point? There's no grind in that.
more people just wanting everything handed to them, I've probably seen more grind than you guys, but it shouldn't be so easy you have a character maxed in a week.
Tbh I'm already almost done. I've prestieged only 4 killers and I miss just GF and his perks and I'll have all the perks for all killers. Problem is that I'm here since the beggining and if I somehow lost progress now I would never probably play DBD again.
New players probably don't look forward to grinding so much and old school players already have or are close to having everything. I ofc like the grind so I don't want it gone rather to be more welcoming to new players and still long enough if you decide to stick around for a year or so. But 100+ days of ingame grind, that's too far.

@Karl_Childers said:
@Kebek Here is the thing with your scenario. Even if you leave that potential DS person on the ground, you have gained pressure and it cost you zero chase time to do so. That person lying on the ground isn’t on gens, and most likely will need someone on a gen to come pick them up in time. Issue with old DS was the CHASE time spent on that person. They could run around, take two hits, then extend the chase with DS if you were unable to dribble. If someone runs in your face and you down them, this is entirely different. If you want to hook them, you take that chance. Leave them slugged, you still come out ahead.
Like I don't really mind since I consider new DS kinda fair. What I don't like about it is those stupid locker plays when you can't even slug, especially when it's done by someone I didn't even tunnel in the first place.
-
@Peanits said:
It's important that the perk stays active long enough to prevent two things:
- So they killer can't just wait out the stun.
- So the person using the perk isn't punished for not immediately going down.
The first one should be pretty self explanatory. If it's, say, 15 seconds, I could easily just wait 15 seconds after they were unhooked, pick them up, and rehook them. If it's a whole minute, sure, I could stand on top of them, wait it out, then pick them up and rehook them. But I would lose a lot of time in the process, and that gives the rest of the survivors a whole minute uncontested to do generators.
Or if it's 30 seconds, even, the survivor would have to try to go down in time, which would make it painfully obvious to the killer that they're using DS.
But what about cases when you don't tunnel anyone as killer but once someone gets unhooked they get their DS, they go for the save knowing that if killer downs them and picks them up not thinking about all previous hooks they can escape for free. Sometimes you can't even slug them since many survivors jump into locker so that you are forced to stand there stare at the locker unable to open it for that minute unless you want to get stabbed.
Maybe giving it condition so that DS activates when killer is within 40m range and prolong its timer to 1 minute 30s ? @Peanits

Don't worry, You'll find new and exciting builds to make him troll them better I'm sure. Unless of course, somehow, the rework makes him worse than he already is... Nah, that couldn't happen, not after they learned their lesson... right? (reads about incoming hotfix for Ghost Face) Sigh...
Problem is that for my favourite build (for deranking in funny way obviously) he needs to stay as bad as he is now. Lol I can always insidious camp basement with bubba at least when I feel like deranking. Hopefully the rework itself will be a gem so that I can forget about what I've lost when it happens.

I don't play by what ever twisted handbook that is.
That is small insight on the way of thinking of survivor mains.

Yes survivors hate when killer is rewarded for not camping. Same with BBQ or Make your choice. Anything punishing survivors for killer not camping is unfair and must be hacking or something. Killer should just leave the hook so that survivors can get the save for free while killer gets nothing out of it except lost games .

@Rizzo90 When does the event end anyway ? I can't find it anywhere.

Next major update as in the next chapter or what? I don’t think I can wait three months for my pig skins.
Probably mid chapter patch

I'd rather increase it to something like 1 minute and 30 seconds but make it so that it activates only if the killer is withing 40 meters radious around the hook when unhooking happens insted of when just unhooking randomly.
