Just yesterday I vaulted through a window and got hit by the Huntress' regular swing literally a good couple feet away from the window, after I was already back on my feet and running away. I hear about that kind of thing all the time but thought that it was just an exaggeration. It apparently isn't.
In another example that made me actually laugh out loud and say "Oookay" in disbelief, I was running around one of those little hills that usually has a chest and / or hook at the top. You know, those mounds that are about 8 feet high or so with a little slanted path to the top? I and another player were running around one to escape a killer who was on top of it. As the killer came running towards me - again, he's on TOP of the hill - I run up against the side of the hill and duck. The killer goes flying OVER me - literally leaps past me and lands on the opposite side - and he swings as he does it. You better believe that yes, even though he swung while literally LEAPING OVER ME AND LANDING ON THE OTHER SIDE, FACING AWAY FROM ME, his attack still connected with the air in such a way that I was injured by it and was downed.
With all of the constant complaints and such it is easy to write things off as gross exaggeration but in this case it's entirely true! ๐ I still thought the game was just working entirely off of the Killer because of some of the insane hits I've seen or received myself lately. But none of them sound even remotely as bad as the Killer striking you mid-air from the other side of a hook hill - that is just too much! I don't know whether to laugh or just shake my head sometimes.
A few gems I've had lately have been sliding across a palette and hitting my feet and taking approximately 4-5 whole steps before I hear the Killer swing and watch myself get downed. They break the palette and had to take several steps to even reach my downed body.
Leaping off of the docks at Blackwater and watching a Huntress axe go through the air way above me and then vanish above my head. It registered as a hit and downed me.
Turning a corner and taking 1-2 steps before eating another hatchet from Huntress.
So many window vaults and still getting hit that I honestly don't vault windows anymore without turning my camera so that I can see the swing. Often I watch the Killer whiff and see myself fall to the ground. It's a joke.
I am pretty far from being a 'salty' Survivor and I'm under no illusion that I'm good at this game. A LOT of Killers outplay me or get some really good hits that I'm more than happy to applaud them for, you know? But sometimes it would be nice to know that if I make it through a window and take a few steps that I'm actually safe and that my hitboxes aren't just hanging out 5 yards behind me waiting for the Killer.

No, there are unfortunately no recent updates anymore on this important topic. The last we heard is that BHVR supposedly enabled their implementation of server-side hit validation, but that implementation is at best flawed and at worst not functional altogether. Flawed because it is only enabled if the killer has a ridiculously high ping below which their latency advantage is already more than unfair for survivors, not functional altogether because even at the highest of pings there are no cases of overruled hits that should be commonplace if the system actually functioned.
I do still hope they will at some point move hit detection to the server entirely, or at least have the server validate hits regardless of client latency, but I highly doubt it. Maybe there isn't the network coding expertise at BHVR to do this, or maybe the current server architecture cannot handle doing that many hit calculations and is already being operated at or close to its limits, i. e. BHVR would have to pay more for severs which they don't want to.
I thought that the matches were still working entirely off of the Killer-side of things. I genuinely had no idea that they'd supposedly made any improvements on the hit boxes. Thank you for your response I'll continue to hope that they will improve things right along with you because it is rough out there still.
I actually watched a Survivor vault from a window and get the downed animation midair with their feet being about a yard away from hitting the ground. The Killer was still on the second story. That's just one of many, many examples I've had lately.
-
2 escapes and 2 kills is what the devs have said is a balanced game. As others have said 4k/3k or 4e/3e is a pretty clear win for either side if that is the basis being used.
If I'm having a night where I'm focused on winning then I pay attention to points. Playing Killer will usually yield more points than playing Survivor (it's part of why the Survivor grind can be so punishing) but I have seen plenty of rounds where one or two Survivors will get more points even though they didn't escape. I think that this is usually a better gauge of my personal skill and gameplay than a pip/depip or an escape or not.

None of the survivors time period has been confirmed.
That's fine - that was hardly what that response was about. ๐ Contextual clues date Feng and cosmetics date Feng to the 90's or early 2000's but what we were talking about was romance and sexuality in stressful environments.
But as I said before the point of this thread is a silly and light hearted discussion regardless.
-
Bubba?! What?! LOL! I would have guessed that the test was going to give me Legion (they were my third) or Trickster (he was my literal last)! But Bubba and Freddy were my top two.
I have a lot of feelings on that. ๐คฃ
Fun quiz and post! <3
-
My one and only P3 is Kate! Once I've got everything unlocked and maxed for her I'll move on but for now everyone else can stay at P1 level 40. ๐
-
Survivor main here! I've gone against quite a few red rank Tricksters who got what seemed like pretty easy 4ks. He seems to excel in open maps - the Red Forest or Ormond even - and have to work a bit harder on indoor maps. Starstruck really punishes any altruistic Survivors and ensures pretty easy downs, honestly. I've watched it happen from across the map.
The hardest Tricksters I've gone against abandoned the idea of stealth and used Distressing and Starstruck. With a 26% increase to his terror radius (as well as possibly some add-ons and other radius perks) I've seen him control a map and keep everyone in an instant-down state. As the Survivor I can tell you it's pretty challenging.
I hope this helps! Good luck!
-
I fully second this.
Gnome Chompski was so frustrating as it encouraged slugging a Survivor during EGC. I haven't encountered this in a week and a half or so but there were two days where I had multiple Killers slug me instead of hooking for the 4k so that they could run all over the map to find the gnome.
Then there are both Killer and Survivor challenges which are so specific they encourage poor sportsmanship. I really like the challenges which encourage different gameplay like using a specific perk or depleting a certain number of health kits or whatnot. But there are some - like the Dark Sense challenge (finish 4 gens in one round using Dark Sense), Blood Debt (unhook someone who unhooked you earlier in the round), or the Left Behind one mentioned in a previous post - which basically require a SWF and a round wasting degree of farming to complete. I wish they would stop using those in each Rift.
-
What I hope for is that one day you'll be able to link all of your paid and Rift-earned content/cosmetics to a Behaviour account and then transfer things over that way. I'd honestly sacrifice all of my Survivor progress to move to my PC - I just want to keep my DLC and my cosmetics. I've spent so much money on cosmetics. ๐๏ธ
-
My fastest match was a basement camping Bubba and what was either a suicidal SWF or the most altruistic team I've ever seen. With three people on basement hooks in the first minute of the game I just went to the basement to speed it along.

This is tough. On the one hand I don't think I've ever broken Deathslinger's hook chain once since his release and so I find that whole mechanic kind of tedious and drawn out. But on the other I've had Huntress hatchet me through walls and around corners far too many times lately which is a shame because previously I loved going against a good Huntress.
I guess I'd choose Deathslinger if for no other reason than I rarely go against him. It would break up the Huntress, Clown, Bubba, Spirit montage that the red ranks have been serving me lately.
-
I don't think there is anything wrong with this so long as you preface the advice in a friendly tone. If you make it clear as to why you're offering the advice and maybe compliment the things they did well then the suggestions will seem constructive and helpful rather than a mocking remark about what they could have done better.
It sounds like the kind of positive interactions that this community needs so I say go for it!

David and Kate also make a great couple! Opposite poles compliment each other better! I imagine Kate bringing Davidโs best side and him being protective over her.
Killers I truly donโt ship, itโs hard for me to do so, yet, I can see Jiwoon with Yui or Feng, asian modern culture in every side.

And you are missing the point. Everyone should be able to play hard every game and have it be equally challenging or not without feeling bad about doing their best. We shouldn't have to 'play nice'. Wasting time teabagging should be punishable by losing the game because you wasted time.
I understood the post and the point clearly. ๐ The point of the original post was about doing deliberately punishing behavior with the intention of making it an unfun game. This was not a discussion of whether or not certain playstyles are fair. @ShamelessPigMain even admitted in their initial post that certain behavior and and Killer perk combos are problematic and unfun for them and for the Survivors and was expressing their thoughts on intentionally making games boring and punishing.
Nowhere in my post did I say anyone had to not play certain Killers or perk combos or defend tea bagging or even talk about wins and losses. I said that if you are going to deliberately punish people for something from a previous match that it is going to drive people away from the game, hinder the community, and only furthers the cycle of toxicity that frustrated them to begin with.

I had (perhaps) a similar issue with a generator. Despite three sides of the gen being completely open, only one side was repairable. I've also run into that gen a million times without that issue, so it was very odd that only one person could work on it.
If you have a screenshot or something, I'd send it in, but file a bug report regardless.
I didn't screenshot it, no, I didn't think to. But I'll file a bug report!
That's really weird about the gen - I've had something similar recently when I was working a gen with a friend. He stood up to test if ruin was active and then couldn't get back on the gen at all.

The problem with this is that you're not 'teaching a lesson' to the people who treated you badly. Toxic Survivors/Killers are the minority, all you'd be doing is harming the community by angering or driving away innocent players. The game before might have been tea-bagging, rude Neas but the game after you could have someone like me who has never tea-bagged even once, who doesn't bring keys, and who only brings flashlights if the Rift demands it. What did I do to deserve a face camping basement Bubba?
Then multiply that by four and you see the issue. With the RE chapter coming there's going to be a lot of new players. Lashing out at every player you encounter because of bad matches is a sure way to drive them off.

My guess is there waiting for some of the hype to die down for some of the SH chapter or until the Resident Evil chapter over shadows it completely.possibly?
It could also be something related to the licensing of those characters. I highly doubt the devs have any artistic freedom with licensed characters and are undoubtedly only able to design approved costumes. They might have already asked for more Cheryl/Heather costumes and been told no. We'll never know.
-
Red ranks are divided into two really distinct and really opposite groups. On the one hand you've got 'true' red rankers, people who are exceptionally skilled at the game and who play it at an almost competitive level. They hardly make any mistakes, they run the meta builds, they use the top grade add-ons or items, they are extremely invested in their wins. And then on the other you've got people who have been thrown into the red ranks purely because they play the game a lot.
I am very much the latter. In my experience the only time I get truly nasty messages sent to me is when I'm in the red ranks. It's either Killers who are being rude because I didn't play well (again, I'm pretty casual in my playstyle) or they are mad because for most of the game I was a potato and then by sheer luck I outplayed them in one instance. Red ranks are kind of infamous for being filled with BM so it kind of just becomes a blur after time. Oh, another Killer calling me a ######### for unhooking someone with BT during EGC? Okay.
Unfortunately it is both Killers and Survivors who have rude players. That will never change. All that any of us can do is ignore them and remember that they are the vast minority and that most people who play this game are just playing the game as you say and are actually very kind, chill people! ๐ And remember deranks happen on the 13th! Hang in there and try to not let it get to you.
Happy gaming! <3

It's hand-drawn and i suck at drawing so don't worry, you're not missing out.
But the basic concept is: The outfit makes Wraith really close to the Entity and will make him look like an Entity's Realm veteran.
The cloak is ripped to shreds, with only the hoodie and down to the shoulders remaining.
The skin is now very much black (the actual "color" black), also very charred and dry with pieces of skin peeling off on their own.
He'll have a few growths spread around on his body which shape to look like hydrothermal vents, which will emit the same black smoke a Killer sees on the sides of their screen when they're under the Undetectable Status Effect.
He'll have a hoodie on which is completely filled with that smoke, making you unable to see anything in the hoodie aside from very pure, bright-white eyes.
There'll be numerous small Entity Legs growing from within the hoodie, growing through the front and ripping through the sides, back and top of the hoodie.
The chest has a giant hole in it and in that hole is now a giant Auric Cell, held together with some Entity Legs.
It's animated so that the Auric Cell pulses slowly constantly, and some of the Entity Legs poke into it every now and then, making it pulse hard once as a reaction.
This is to insinuate that the Entity at some point had to give Wraith a new way to live, granting him this Auric Cell, but also makes it way easier to manipulate him, as poking this Auric Cell hurts him, so basically torture within the Trial.
As a weapon, it'll be a rather large and sharp Entity Leg that's grown from his right wrist.
It can move on its own, but of course that has no effect on the actual gameplay.
I love this! That is so creative and sounds like such a creepy and thematic outfit - I'd honestly love to see an entire line of Entity influenced costumes for the original Killers!
I think there is a fashion contest coming up. You should absolutely revisit this and submit your concept, it would have my vote! โบ๏ธ

I really want something punk / gothic for Meg. Her lore says that she went โoff the railsโ before finding sports, so it would be cool to explore that period of her life through cosmetics. I can definitely see her having an emo phase lol.
I think now that Meg is going to be getting an upgrade in her graphics (and a much needed improvement to her face in my personal opinion) we will see a spike in Meg players and in the cosmetics that are released for her. Her story reads very early 2000's to me so a little emo outfit would not only be fitting but would be adorable!

Jake is my main and i would 100% wear this coat IRL if i had it
as for the reference, well, It's a Kingdom Hearts reference, i question how you have no idea what it is given that Kingdom Hearts 3 was one of the biggest releases in 2019 but hey, i ain't stopping you from spending the next 60 hours reading up on the lore and story
A Disney/Kingdom Hearts line of costumes is probably unlikely but would be really great if they did manage it! I could see that selling well as people seem to really like the cutesy costumes. And now that the fog is basically nonexistent I've stopped bothering with stealthy costumes and have really leaned into the colors too!
The explanation is actually pretty simple - I'm a PC gamer! I spend all of my time (and money lol) on my PC so I'm pretty oblivious to console releases. My PS4 was an impulse buy that I got purely to play three games, one of which was DbD with my console-only friends. And here we are! ๐

Personally, I like these outfits, and I feel like the pink haired girl's (Aishi) outfit would be nice for Feng Min, or maybe Yui. The blue haired boy's (Sora) outfit I don't know who that would be fitting for just yet, you can give suggestions. Maybe it could suit Felix, but it seems farfetched.

https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/O5AMBBIAEI7H/17916927-xgyygnoovacdw2e.jpg
Again, art not mine, but the character's (Alicia) outfit could work for Claudette, Yui, or Yun-Jin Lee
I included the characters names so if anyone wants to give a better idea of who the outfit fits for, you can use the names instead of pointing out characteristics.
The third picture is adorable! I think that would actually work best for Kate. She already has her performing in Japan outfit, this seems like it would be a good follow up to that!
-
I think Yun-Jin is actually a very decent Survivor! Fast Track is actually an amazing perk that I'd argue is pretty top tier. Smash Hit is good for those who like to run exhaustion perks. It worked especially well for me in indoor maps by providing me enough of a boost to get around the corner and get behind something or take a doorway that the Killer didn't think to check.
It comes down to personal playstyle! I rank the Survivors as top tier being those with 2+ good perks (Nea, Bill, Felix, Meg, Dwight, Yun-Jin, etc), the mid tier being those with only 1 perk that is useful to me (Kate, David, Nancy, Jeff, Adam, etc), and the bottom tier being those who have no viable perks or whose 1 good perk is far too situational (Elodie, Zarina, Steve, Ace, Feng, etc). But if you ask five random Survivors the chances are we'd all rank those characters differently.
-
You should absolutely keep this up! โบ๏ธAnything that any of us can do in this community to build positivity and encourage each other to play the game is valued and appreciated by all. I think it is especially helpful for new Killers or even Killers who are high level but played poorly - sometimes that's a veteran who is trying out a new playstyle or new Killer.
It's absolutely worth taking the time to send a quick message.

No. After getting pretty well into the game I decided to buy it on the Switch Lite as well. I was hoping for cross-progression (promised, but doesn't look to be happening anytime soon) and without it this meant that I had to start the game over completely from scratch. Buying all the DLC was much more bothersome that starting over from scratch.
Would I like it? No, but it also wouldn't matter that much. The game is a cycle, the whole point of playing isn't so much to amass things but to...well, keep playing. Everything from cosmetics to bloodpoints exists to provide incentive to keep playing. If anything I purchased was taken away I'd sure like my money back, but beyond that, nah, the concept of starting over wouldn't be a huge blow for me.
I'm curious since you're a multi-platform user do you buy cosmetics on both or just one? Do you ever buy duplicate cosmetics such as the same outfit for the same Survivor?
-
I've not yet played the RE Chapter as I'm on console but from what I've read it seems like dropping a palette is a pretty big waste for a zombie. My guess is that zombies just increase the number of flashlights that Survivors bring since the stun lasts longer and doesn't waste something valuable.
Or people will run the Yui perk, but I know plenty of people who find meta-perk builds to be boring and monotonous so my guess is it will be more gameplay based instead.
-
I struggle with this so badly! I am a PC gamer with a top-grade rig who bought DbD on PS4 purely at the encouragement of my friends. I've spent so much time on the game, I've bought DLC and cosmetics galore, I've got Rift exclusive cosmetics... And now those friends do not play the game.
I cannot express how badly I want to transfer my account over to my PC. I love the game so I won't stop playing but I also couldn't bear to lose the cosmetics I've spent money on. The progress and character levels isn't really a factor at all, I'd restart at level 1 everyone so long as I wasn't out the financial aspect.
-
If you're trying to level up then then escaping does very little for you compared to altruistic play and engaging with the Killer. And if you think of winning as getting the most BP (as some do) then you also need to do a lot more than just escape. The game gives minor rewards for stealthy rounds because the ultimate point of the game is Killer and Survivor interaction.
Get in a chase, drop some palettes, vault some windows, and escape the chase. That's where those sweet, sweet level-up numbers are at. ๐
-
While frustrating the palette bit makes sense. The Killer's attack is hitting the Survivor before the palette drop has landed. The hit boxes on the other hand are notoriously bad. I have been falling from a window on Haddonfield and registered a hit while mid-air and have landed downed. I do not work in anything remotely IT so I'm not sure what the fix is but I know I'd love to see a little more accuracy for us all. I know that ranged Killers in particular have issues with seeing that something should have hit and it doesn't.
-
I played my first few rounds as Claudette! I quickly fell in love with the game and immediately bought Kate.

You're comparing parade to protest and the two aren't the same.
Pride events actually started from a place of protest! ๐ At least in the USA, I am not well-versed in the worldwide development of pride events. But originally when Pride events began to be organized it was a form of protest against previously being an unseen minority which were forced to remain hidden for their own safety.
By having a pride event LGBT+ people could meet one another and find a sense of community, they could lift one another up, and they could protest against their place in society by saying, "We are here, we will be seen." Nowadays the pride events are much more of a celebration in the USA but the shock-value culture behind it is cemented in what I described in my other post.
And yes, sometimes the sexuality of it all is a little more base but hey... Humans are horny. That's not new either. ๐คฃ

well, maybe it would help your cause if in these parades, you apparently need, you made sure people weren't dressing up in fetish and BDSM gear, marching naked, wearing dildos, or engage in public acts of debauchery and sex. It would go a long way in showing that you are in fact normal people like everyone else, and help stem the opinions that what follows lgbt is a community deviant perversion that the rest of society must accept along with it.
Provocative imagery exists in nearly every form of public protest or celebration regardless of the community or the cause. To an outsider peering in it looks shocking because it's supposed to be. It's hardly exclusive to pride parades and is actually one of the more peaceful ways that this tactic has been used.
It is the equivalent to women burning bras and marching topless during a woman's rights event or people burning flags during an anti-government protest - these displays are meant to draw attention/controversy and then spark conversation or later thought.

I play Survivor over Killer for a variety of reasons but one that I don't think I saw anyone talking about is the FOV for Killer. I play plenty of first person games on my PC but the FOV for the Killers makes me so queasy for some reason. I still try to do it sometimes but I often end up feeling really disoriented or even outright ill.
I'm also on a PS4 and I think the framerate feels really low in this game regardless of my internet speed. It's less of an issue when playing third person as a Survivor!

:p had me going there
Yeah, it isn't me I'm worried about. I can take the abuse they throw.
I am terrified that others can't.
I agree! This community is largely great for the most part but I feel like it could be so much better if more people were just kind and positive. Or if the game notified/rewarded when someone gave a 'thumbs up'. I hope that the devs will implement simple things like that which would really balance the negative experiences or could lift someone's spirits.

This isnโt a master challenge.

I think you don't have to do this in one game. Just play normally or focuc on the survivor who unhooked you and then you unhook him/her.
Thank you so much! Like I said I really struggle with the wording - it's so obvious now that you both point it out.
Happy gaming you two! <3

@Pulsar This behavior is definitely super uncalled for and unfortunate. Even with all of the frustrations that Survivors (myself included) feel about the lack of counter play to Spirit it is sad to see anyone treated badly for playing her. I'm sorry that you were harassed for the Killer and perks you chose to play. Hang in there and try and have fun playing whatever you'd like - obviously not everyone will be rude about it.
Thought honestly if you hadn't played - ... Just kidding. ๐ Stay positive and happy gaming! <3

Rather than change an existing Killer I like the idea of bots being implemented in future Killers. I say this as someone who hasn't played against Nemesis yet - I could totally change my mind after the release next month.
Off of the top of my head... The Ventriloquist? A man or woman who deploys dolls/puppets which act as their eyes. I think for this it would be creepier and more menacing to see a higher number of bots but less of a physical threat and more of a monitoring system (maybe inflicting status effects on Survivors in their sights).
The picture is from Dead Silence (2007 movie) - but kind of aesthetically what I had in mind.

Thank you guys! A.I. helpers will be really interesting - let's hope it's implemented well! I've faith this will be fun.
