  • Yea I've had this happen several times to me in the past month or so too.

And since when are you the authority who decides if a killer deserved a kill or not?

What you aks for is to have a gamble who gets got with rancor at the start so you can just chill if you load in the match and you are not the obsession

I'm not. Thats why I'm here, in a feedback forum, giving my feedback.

The obsession is already a gamble at the start of the match for the most part. I just simply don't want to be the obsession at the END of the match when all I did was hit the ready button. If I get the obsession at the start of the match thats fine. However if I get friends 'til the end and rancor put on me at the end of the match I will consider that extremely unfair. Friends 'til the end shouldn't even work after all 5 generators are complete. At the very least disable it if rancor is also in play.

You should be aware the killer has Friends til the End by the time all gens are done and since it triggers on hook, you can just hide in a locker when the killer picks up a survivor.

Rancor + No Way Out is a build focus on the end game, you should have no difficulties reaching it to the end game as the 3rd perk listed is Friends til the End so very little to defend gens. Unless the killer has a 4th perk to find survivors, you should just be able to hide out against No Way Out considering most of the survivor should be alive against a build with no gen defense.

Basically once the gens are done and you know you are the Rancor target or that you could be made the Rancor target, you should be focused on hiding since gens are already done. If you are failing to use lockers to hide screams/auras and getting caught, then you messed up.

The other fact is you're complaining about a meme build. No killer is running Rancor plus Obsession swapping perks for any other reason than messing around. Would you really rather killers have no fun options and just focus on tunneling/camping every game all the time?

"You can just hide in a locker"

Right because theres always a locker nearby when that happens. And if there's not, you're going to be found. This is besides the point which is that killers are given too much power and survivors are given too little to deal with it. Anything that gives the killer an instant down power is already overpowered in a game where altruism is half the game. In my experience survivors leave matches the most when an instant down is in play and especially when that power is dominating the match. In a game where survivors are constantly told to get good, RNG shouldn't be this much of a contributing factor. There is too much to consider every match at this point in the game. There are too many perks. Too many RNG factors in this game make for a miserable and boring experience. Its exhausting and not fun.

I'm basic... though I liked the pink hair instead of the purple. 🤔

That's not basic! From what I have seen that is her most popular cosmetic combination so far.

  • Where am I? 😄 There's a lot of places in this game you can take some really cool screenshots.

  • I think All Things Wicked is the best chapter since the first Resident Evil chapter. For an original chapter I was very impressed with what we got. Sable is insanely cool. I was sold on the chapter the moment I saw her reveal. I think its a huge W chapter and I hope they continue to put the same love and care into future chapters as they did this one.

I find trapper much more annoying to play against and unique? He is basically just jayson in every way, even his traps. And actually I can live with not getting more trap-killers, they are not fun to play as and against for me.

This is exactly why having a feedback forum for a video game is good.

They can create a new report category, or have people look at those reports specifically. It is, of course, possible to filter reports, look for the ones which actually need to checked.

Obviously I don't have all the answers, but I just cannot accept good cosmetics being removed because of disgusting individuals, again. If there is any chance to avoid that, I have to try.

If they leave this to the report system I feel like its going to be endless false reports mixed in with some genuine ones. They can do that, just like how they could've before, but will they be able to filter out all the bad ones? They messed up by removing leatherface's cosmetics. Now they are held to a standard regarding situations like this because of how a similar situation was handled before. This is why you can't overreact to situations like this. Universal punishment because of what an extremely small amount of people do is wrong.

  • So how do you discern the difference between genuine reports of this and those where killer players are reported out of spite? The only way you can as far as I know is if the killer basically admits to it when the match is over. This is problematic from all angles.

Uniqueness is something else than being op, it's a big difference between finding them interessting to play against and them being too strong. Besides that you don't really give me any reason to think something else. Everything I saw was just a random killer or perk you said it was too op.

But even if you just find him boring to play against I'd say that I don't agree, I find him fun to play against like many others I saw so far ^^

The point is ranged abilities on new killers is getting old. When will we get another killer like the Trapper? It seems like they just keep taking elements from other killers and making it part of the kit of the new one. The unknown feels like a variation of the Singularity for example. Not really unique but a bit more annoying to play against. I would prefer unknown's ranged ability to apply some other effect rather than damaging survivors.

Jeesh, I would have hate to seen how you would’ve reacted when plague came out….especially if you think unknown is OP.

    @Pulsar

Plague's is more tolerable because it requires more buildup to directly damage survivors. My only issue with Plague is it seems almost impossible to dodge her projectile in the open.

  • @Kaethela said:

I think it would be really cute if Mikaela and Sable got each others' default outfits as cosmetics. Since they're besties, it would be a fun way to show that off.

I can definitely see them doing a "Best Friends" collection of sorts with them. Kind of like how they do cosplay outfits with Feng.

I know. The funiest thing is still no way out and remember me is OP and undeserved after the entire team is dead and the hatch is closed. Nope it's not, the killer killed the entire team with only 2 perks and won the 50/50, your dead is more than deserved xD

I'm not this entirely anti killer survivor main you think I am. In fact I think most killers in the game are fine as they are and some could even use a buff. Its just specific things I take issue with. Certain perk combos for example or a killer power giving too much leverage in chase situations. I don't want killer mains to have a miserable experience so survivors can have a better one. I just want the game to be more engaging. There is way too much focus on giving killers range damage abilities. I think of killers like Trapper and Spirit who I think are very well designed. The Trapper requires a unique awareness because of his traps and the Spirit can traverse maps well and go invisible while doing it. They're fun to play against because I'm not constantly having to worry about dodging a projectile every few seconds but at the same time offer a unique experience. The experience with many of the recent killers hasn't been all that unique.

  • @fulltonon said:

minimum 3 hits required, 7 second cooldown, 10 seconds for weakness removal.

    Hardly "too strong" at all.

You are assuming every situation this happens the survivor is not injured and not already inflicted with weakness. In many situations, its literally just 1 hit.

This is how she responds to anything killer related, on each thread. Nerf this, trickster is OP, blight is too much, sadako is this, unknown is that.

It boils down to her. This killer isn’t OP by any stretch of the imagination.

No. This is how I respond to things that are unfair and unbalanced in the game. I have 3200+ hours played in DBD. I think I know the basics well enough at this point. If a new killer comes out and on day 1 is getting 4k with 4-5 gens up match after match then that to me is a problem. Whether it be matchmaking, killer being overpowered or a combination of both, something needs to change. This killer's ranged attack gives too much control over chases. That seems to be the norm now with so many killers having a way to down survivors from a long distance. Pallets are losing value. Windows are losing Value. Looping is losing value. All because killers are constantly being given new powers to counter the very few things survivors have to deal with this.

The ONLY thing I think needs to change with this killer is the ability to down survivors with the ranged attack. It can do everything else including put them in the injured state, but downing them needs to go. New killers having a way to down survivors from a distance is just annoying at this point.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

The skins are perfectly fine. Can we stop with this.

I really do feel like people read way too much into this and look for problems that do not exist. If people look at the unknown killer and think anything other than scary monster then thats on them and not a problem with the character.

  • @Kaethela said:

I use the cat ear hood instead of default hair but otherwise this is my look. Really excited to see what cosmetic options she gets down the line.

The hoodies are awesome. I like how they have a more clear visual of her face with unique makeup compared to her default. The cat ears with spikes looks super wicked, like the chapter. 😁 I'll probably add that to my outfit because I bet they will also go really good with future cosmetics. I love being able to mix and match from different sets.

  • The UVX ranged power is too much. It shouldn't be able to down survivors. Chases against this killer are not fun, and usually end fast because of this power. I saw way too many early 4ks on day 1 of this killer being out.

  • Well, I think it would be inconsistent for them not to given how they handled leatherface's cosmetic. I completely disagreed with that choice, but if thats how they're going to approach this stuff then I guess we'll see.

White would look great! With black or pink accents. I'm sure they'll give her alternate outfits given her popularity already.

I think Sable will be getting a lot of cosmetics in the near future. I am very impressed with how well they designed her. They even gave her voice lines so they really went all out with this character. I hope they continue to put the same effort into future original characters.

Been rocking this! Default head with Flower & Lace torso and the Red Thigh-Highs from the Inner Monster outfit!

I'm definitely going to get both of the leather outfits for her. I wish they had an all white version of it. Maybe in a future rift perhaps. 😀

  • @OneGoodBoyDemo said:

How? She has only 2 cosmetics. The rest of It are only recolors, even the Very rare.

Sable has 7 head, 11 torso and 11 leg cosmetics you can mix and match. Her recolors are really good because they go well with her very rare outfits in the shop. They also match well with uncommon sets too. I've seen combinations of all 3 rarities mixed and matched all day. Obviously she isn't going to launch with a lot of cosmetics, but for what she did launch is pretty awesome. It'll be interesting to see what they give her in the future.

  • @leviivel said:

Sable has green rarity skins aswell as releasing with 2 purples, guess who also released like this, Vittorio.

let’s go back to the 6 year anniversary, Haddie, who technically did release with greens, had them twitch prime locked. She had an anniversary outfit and a linked set, the anniversary outfit’s head was just an extremely simple mask with her hairstyle flipped horizontally. So if you didn’t have the twitch prime outfit, you’d have only have 3 head piece options which were all very similar because her yellow rarity head pieces were barely different (if even at all). So instead of fixing the yellow head pieces or giving her new cosmetics… SHE HAD TO WAIT 10.5 MONTHS FOR HER FIRST POST LAUNCH OUTFIT… and this was only because the community rallied for her so she could get more skins.

now, Vittorio, the very obviously designed horny bait character only made to sell well. Let’s see… Green’s on launch plus 2 SHIRTLESS outfits (they’re not even hiding it, it’s pretty obvious he’s a sex sells character). Meanwhile, he also got a lunar new year outfit 2 weeks after his release, a rift outfit in the midchapter after his chapter (the reason this is special is because this is when they started featuring the newest characters in the rift) and the chapter after Forged in Fog; Tools of Torment, he got a TECHWEAR skin (i’ll mention why this is important later with Gabriel). And the thing is, he still gets an insanely consistent amount of skins.

after that, we had the Lyra siblings, who had no greens but they did get recolors of their outfits (although strangely not their release ones but post release ones). They get a very good amount of skins but the lack of green rarity items bugs me out a little.

now Gabriel is the place where i feel the most weirded out by, Gabriel had zero greens on launch (WHICH MIND YOU HE REALLY COULD HAVE USED BECAUSE HE WAS STUCK WITH THE LIFE JACKET), then when does finally get skins (which mind you, nowhere near as consistently as someone like Vittorio) they all have this stupid futuristic limitation, which i don’t mind, cause i like doing different spins on themes, but why does he have this limit when mr. medieval Vittorio gets to wear modern era stuff (again, Vittorio is totally not designed to sell well).

now onto Sable, now before i say anything, i really like Sable! Everything about her is enjoyable and she suits my tastes perfectly in both visuals and backstory/personality. But it’s clear as day she was very intentionally made to be extremely likeable. Not to mention her being friends with Mikaela, which is awesome for word building, is also ironic since Mikaela is one of the most popular survivors, does say a lot.

(this post isn’t meant to rag on recolors or something, i love recolors especially with the unknown having so many default weapon recolors compared to a lot of recent killers. This post is just meant to call out a weird bias i’ve noticed)

edit: my point didn’t come across properly my apologies, i get that sales are sales and popularity obviously means more skins, it’s more so just that the release bias has been a little weird, cause Sable and Vittorio get greens and 2 purples immediately when Lyra siblings and Gabriel only got 1 purple with no greens (they didn’t even bother making easy recolors of their release purples).

So what is the problem here? A bias in this regard is a good thing for them. Sable is an insanely popular survivor which means she is very marketable. The whole point of these characters is to make money for the company. Why should they do anything other than focus on what is the most appealing things for the best sales? If they make a new survivor and that survivor doesn't resonate with the players then why should they be given the same treatment as the more popular survivors?

  • This has pretty much been my experience with the game all day. You shouldn't be able to down 4 survivors this fast and leave them on the ground like this.

    20240313153231_1.jpg

  • @Bafugaboo said:

It’s not as in-depth as you might think. Grade reset so the climb to iri 1 begins. Once many reach their goals then it will get more back to usual.

Strange that is even a factor, considering you don't even pip as killer if you 4k too fast. At least you don't in the higher ranks as far as I remember.

  • @kin said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/407920/the-unknown-is-too-powerful-ranged-power-is-too-much

the shooting part of his power is literally the most balanced. yes he can shoot at you at speed 4.6 and he has an explosion, but he needs to hit you from 3-4 to infinity times to knock you to the ground

yes he can apply damage through walls, but you, as a survivor, can move away from the walls a couple of centimeters/get away from the explosion earlier so that it doesn’t cause it Well,

what can we say that if you constantly look at him when you are infected, this killer will have only 3 seconds to shoot at you. to beat him, it’s literally enough to take advantage of any convenient moment to look at him, which is what experienced survivors already do. If they learned it, then so can you, especially considering how important this skill is in the game as a whole.

If we talk about the teleport, then this is the controversial element. Everything is fine with the shooting part of this killer

Really? In my experience its been M1, chase begins, get downed 3 seconds later from his ranged attack. Am I just going up against the cheaters or am I missing something here? This killer is overpowered. He has too much in his kit. Survivors being able to dispell his clones isn't enough. In fact I don't even really care about that part as much. Its mostly just his ranged power.

  • @KatsuhxP said:

You really want killers to be unable to kill you, don't you? He's not even close at being to strong, he's very map dependent and you have to learn angles for even hitting remotely with his power. His attack would be way too weak without the teleport so it's fine.

No. I just want the game to be fair and to be able to run from killers for more than 3 seconds before being downed by a ranged splash damage attack. This has become the new norm with killers with giving them chase control abilities. Plague is more balanced in this regard because she has to collect charges for her power to be able to do this. This killer doesn't. They start with this level of power. Its ridiculous that killer powers have gone from that to just being base kit now. This killer's power is way too much. It should not be able to down you without a condition like Plague's power.

  • @MalekithHatesSnow said:

People don't know how to go against him he's incredibly easy to counter too one wall and he's just completely nullified

This should not be the reason why nearly every match is ending in 4k with no gens completed against this killer.

  • Almost every time this happens to me the killer says it was because of someone else on the team being toxic to them and they took it out on me because they escaped. It is what it is.

  • Why can't cool characters just be cool characters without having to examine every fiber of their being? She looks cool, and I doubt in a game like DBD more than a handful of people will care about anything more than what she looks like.

  • I think the concern is the assumption that killer players will now actively check the basement area and survivors may not ever really get to use this perk. The basement may be the first place killers check every match. Its an interesting perk and certainly changes things up.

It’s funny how someone complaints about ‚unnecessary censorship‘ when the creators removed something they wanted to remove -possibly due to feedback from players- but at the same time they themselves have asked for something to be removed unnecessarily just to cater to their own preference despite knowing that the creators wanted it in the game.

Its because I am able to discern the difference between art and activism.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3667235#Comment_3667235

It could be argued that the "complaints" themselves were an act of forcing censorship. I.E. "cancelling" someone or something.

Complaints are not an act of censorship. Responding to them is (in the context of changing something for the sake of sensibilities not shared by all consumers). DBD is a video game made for entertainment. Its art. If the developers of horror genre of entertainment cared about this collectively then everything would be censored and done off screen. Even depictions of blood can trigger people.

  • How so if you don't mind elaborating? I've seen a lot of horror movies. They very often have depictions of things that could trigger people's sensitivities. Thats why movies and video games have content ratings on them, to inform the consumer of what the media they are about to view has in it.

  • @Brokenbones said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3667274#Comment_3667274

Sure you can argue it's a needless or pointless change

But that doesn't make it censorship.

I remain unconvinced, so we'll just have to agree to disagree.

  • This has nothing to do about caring about other people. If it did, horror entertainment wouldn't exist. Its riddled with things that could cause all kinds of sensitivity triggers.

    @Brokenbones said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3667261#Comment_3667261

Again that's not what censorship is

Creators can change their minds on their work, as long as the reasoning comes from them and not some external force like say, a ratings board or a publisher it's by definition not censorship. People changing their work with the benefit of hindsight is fine as long as it's not needless or unfounded.

It was needless. Thats the point I made.

well, there´s a guy on the map.. like... doing it, next to a generator

Yep. And if it was the visual of it that could spark sensitivity triggers then the context doesn't really matter. You very clearly see dead hanging men in this game and I don't think the implied context would remove the possibility of those triggers happening.

  • @Brokenbones said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3667250#Comment_3667250

If you create something and you (as the creator) are unsatisfied with it then go back and change it, that's not censorship at all.

    It's not the same thing.

The reason behind it is what matters. They can do what they want with their game, however we can criticize it. Changing something in a game to address potential sensitivities is censorship. They didn't do it because they thought the previous image didn't fit the map well.

  • @Brokenbones said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3667228#Comment_3667228

To call it censorship is misguided, censorship implies somebody made it and then an external force came in and censored it. In actuality, BHVR likely looked at some complaints regarding the icon and decided it's better to change it than to leave it be

The problem I have is with the lack of consistency, I.E Hangman's trick being left as is. I feel like if there was a genuine care about this issue, they wouldn't have forgotten about it but they did.

The previous map offering was in the game for a long while before it was changed. An external force doesn't have to come in and change it for it to be considered censorship. The reasoning behind it does. It was changed to address sensitivity triggers which is why I said a simple "this game has depictions of" warning would be all they really needed to do. The same argument could be used for other things in the game too, such as the dead animals you see on some maps in the game. A lot of things in the horror genre could easily trigger people with sensitivities by nature of what it revolves around. I think its pointless to try and reshape the art of horror to cater to sensitivities by removing them from it.

  • @GoodJobGuys92 said:

This just in, suppose to be horror game can't have a noose image!

I've never understood the idea of catering to sensitives through censorship. I feel like a simple "This game has depictions of" warning when you launch the game would suffice. Even still, the horror genre is rooted in death so going into it things like this shouldn't be considered out of the ordinary.

    @HaunterofShadows said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3666107#Comment_3666107

Because the noose could cause triggers in people who were/are suicidal and surely you don't need anyone to explain the link between a noose and suicide

If that is the case and its the visual of it that could cause the trigger then wouldn't the hanging men on both the Decimated Borgo and Grave of Glenvale potentially cause the same trigger?

There’s a huge difference between acting (yourself) and being in control of random people. Why do you think Jamie Lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver denied their portrayals?

You said you imagine most women don't want to put themselves in a game like DBD and its community. You made 2 distinctions there: the game and its community. As far as the game goes, I believe most women who follow careers that depend heavily on appealing to the public would be more than happy to collab with companies who also depend heavily on appealing to the public in the entertainment industry. That is why I brought up horror movies. A lot of women love to audition for roles in horror movies despite the fact it often involves the characters they play having the same things done to them as happens to characters in DBD. I don't know why you'd think that would be a deterrent when the entire entertainment industry proves otherwise.

As far as the community goes, I don't think your opinion on it reflects the community as a whole. I also don't think it is as much of a deterrent as you think it is. These collab decisions are in fact more business focused than anything. If someone thinks their career could grow with collabing with a game like DBD then I don't think they would be too worried about what a few perverts may do with some fanart.

  • I would totally be a Gaga main if she came to DBD.

As far as why does Fortnite get insane collabs like Lady Gaga it all comes down to business. Fortnite generates tons of money and the amount of exposure the game offers is very appealing.

    @Nebula said:

Giving the player the option to censor something for their experience of the game is not censoring it for you. Its no different from games that have profanity and gore filters. This suggestion doesn't affect anyone but the individual player.

  • Sable Ward is by far the best original survivor we've gotten in a long time. They did such a good job designing her and I can tell she is going to be super freaking popular.

  • The only thing it needs to be. Nightmare fuel!

  • @Nebula said:

The aesthetic and art team knocked it out of the park once again, but once again they’re let down by the actual execution of the killer and perks on both sides.

Honestly I'd be perfectly fine if new chapters didn't even come with new perks. I think the game is pretty bloated when it comes to perks and the more that get added the more outcomes tend to rely on having the right loadouts.

  • @CrowVortex said:

For me personally she's just another character to appeal to anime weebs, somewhat over-sexualised with that walk animation, some outfits too. Not to mention boring lore and a killer kit design that's unimaginative to play as and against and not worth interacting with as a survivor for little to no benefit for doing so. Of course the Prior chess merchant tactic doesn't help her reputation, that's beyond repair regardless of what they do to her in the future.

Its almost like sexy characters haven't been an insanely marketable and profitable thing in video games since forever. You're not making a good argument when you're implying the devs did something wrong for designing a character like this. There's nothing wrong with her walk animation or her outfits and I can promise you anime weebs aren't the only people a character like this appeals to.

  • Because people don't like having to play mend simulator for half the match. He forces survivors into endless altruism that also lets him track where you are. Its too much.

I'm not you so naturally I won't know if you are aware of how Rancor works or how to play against it. So sorry that I can't read the mind of some random stranger from the Internet.

I addressed your point about the Obsession switching with Nemesis being in your own words "Unpredictable circumstances" in the latter half of my post as well and pointed out how it's not as unpredictable as you think. Naturally if you're not interested in a conversation and just want to complain irregardless of input then I rest my case.

The implication was in my post when I said "I didn't have it the entire match. There is no way of knowing the killer has rancor IN THIS SITUATION."

This is a feedback forum. My feedback is always intended for the devs when I post in the feedback forum. If people want to reply to it thats fine. For rancor I think because of what this perk allows the killer to do the obsession should not be able to change. This is only fair given that if the obsession changes to another survivor in the situation mine did, they have no way of knowing the killer is using rancor. If the perk is designed to give the survivor the chance to figure it out, then it only makes sense to me that the obsession cannot change from who it starts with. It also deters people from using perks that make you the obsession like For The People. There's so much risk and not enough reward but as I said, every match is random. That is my biggest problem with this game by the way. There is way too much randomness involved that often makes our efforts feel worthless.

Everyone in a SWF on comms knows about Rancor; not just the Obsession.

Revealing Rancor's presence to all the survivors, not just the Obsession, would solve these issues.

KateMain86 would have known the killer had it. It would be up to them to figure out if the killer also has Nemesis and is it worth stunning the killer.

Yep. This is a huge solo que survivor problem among many other things. Solo players go through matches with too much blindness. Don't get me wrong though. I'm a supporter of SWF. The game was a MILLION times more fun for me back when my friends still played. However I'm also all for making the solo player experience as fun as it can be too.
