Yes! I just tried playing 'Boop the Snoot' with them and got a Mori for my friendliness π

By the way, it just happened again, an afk wraith waited for the gens to be done then opened the exit gate and ran and hid.
Two of these players tonight...
I wonder if they are trying to depip to get to low ranks or if theyre farming iridescent shards.
With rank reset so close my guess is intentional de-pip -_- I can't speak for others, but when I hear about a Killer going AFK, it's usually Wraith. Which is giving my poor Bing-Bong dude a bad rap *sigh*

Kindred, especially like to run it with Ace's perk Open Handed for additional range.

I'm running Plunderer's, Ace in the Hole, Streetwise (and soon Built to Last) to get flashlights on the fly.
That said, I've had 10 matches in a row where I was lucky enough to hit all 3 chests, yet got no flashlights at all (2 iridescent keys in one match, but no flashlights)
That's a really great idea! I play Ace a lot, so building a stockpile could be feasible π€
-
That would require players to ACTUALLY read directions and attempt to grasp how points are awarded. There's players that do, but many just jump right in without a plan to optimize the award system.

If you line up your character model to cover up the killers when they are in front of you and look slightly up it will work everytime I feel like they've zoomed in on the character model so you can't see really what you're looking at until you click but try it out
Thank you for your help, I will give it a try. I'd given up on the Rift challenge after wasting so many flashlights -_-
-
Good gravy train, can someone explain the new mechanics to get a flashlight blind? I've read that Ash can reliably pull it off, but has something to do with because he still has the capability to crouch and point???

Everything was good until you said Self-Care. Sorry, it doesnt rhyme with "optimal".. :D
Also, as a solo player I cant imagine optimal game without Kindred. You are very likely to waste time going for unhooks when someone else is closer to hooks and will do it faster.
This. I DO actually use Sprint Burst on Ace because it's kinda unexpected on him in addition to damage control.. And I DO use Spine Chill to give me warning about stealth killers. But I ALWAYS run Kindred with Open Handed for optimal information. This build has been really reliable for information control and run it a lot. If you are ok with shorter range Kindred, Deliverance is a good trade-off for Open Handed, imo.

WHUT??? I find Survivor waaaay easier to level up. I play a handful of Killers, but all terribly. As much as I love playing Killer...*sobs* I just can't seem to GIT GUD!!!
-
As Killer I'd prefer they just leave.
But as Survivor I personally stick around to potentially get last minute safe hook saves/mending points, or if I think the Killer's been awesome, I wait until they get to the gates and drop my item as a thank you. Then I run like hell.

Anyone else disappointed by Dwight's lack of ties and business related attire? He went full hipster and never came back rip.

I know that feeling. I ship Dwight x Nea and Steve x Nancy...
BUT.
The only reason Inner Strength even works in this game is because cleansing totems remind survivors how Dwight loves teamwork, then they go into Dwight's natural habitat to bathe in his cologne. Nancy was drawn to those lockers for a reason. (No it wasn't the hatchets.)
Lol, I love this

I've had a Myers do this to me with doors. Let me struggle off, stood back to let me open the gate, then downed me. Took me a few feet from the gates and everytime I'd crawl close to the gates they would pick me up and drop me back in the same spot until EGC got me. No Hatch nearby, just a person with some obvious issues that felt the need to torment another.

Becoming a Streamer or content creator is no different for the "younger generation" than becoming an author or actor who had dreams of making it big was for previous generations. Or the sports star. Some will make it, many won't and they'll eventually find other work.
I've been an author for close to 30 years. I also spent 14 years in the gaming industry. I'd also written for Marvel and worked on Highlander: The Series in the 90s. I had extended family members who talked like you: I would never make it, I'm throwing my life away, et cetera.
Fast-forward, and not only have I been best-selling, but I've had my I.P. licensed by others. I've made a nice living in fiction and games. If I had listened to those extended family members, I'd probably be making a lot less money, working for someone else and making them rich, and wouldn't be able to work from home where I raised my kids, not some daycare provider.
There's no harm in them pursuing their dream. If they happen to be the small percentage that make it, good for them. If they don't, life will force them into other jobs. If they choose to not get other work and make a living for themselves . . . well, unfortunately there are enough of those people in the world already, and it has zero to do with Twitch or YouTube.
@Kilmeran I just want to tell you I resonate completely with your message, you're my hero, and I hope I can get the courage to be like you one day. I let writing turn into a 'hobby' and graduated business school because it was 'the smart thing to do'.
Now, I think the smart thing to do is try to be the best, happiest version of yourself, and you can't do that if you pass on your dreams to adopt one that's socially acceptable. Hats off to you, hope you continue to follow your own dreams and creativity. You give the sad and discouraged dreamers hope!
-
@GoodBoyKaru You're absolutely right. I just can't think of him as anything else other than the Curator. But he wasn't exactly what he was presented to be in that game, either (trying not to be spoilery). So in that vein, do we all each have a personal Curator/Analyst?
-
@lolbananas Hang in there, I know it can feel so frustrating! I've been playing 3 months now, and 2 things that helped me:
1.) Watch the Shrine! When a meta perk comes up like BBQ & Chili or Borrowed Time, buy it with Iri shards. Doing so will make you more competitive without having to grind for the perks you want.
2.) Play both sides! When you feel burnt out, switch to playing the other side. Skills learned are often transferrable and help you learn your opponent's thought process.
Good luck :)
-
Aww, I didn't even think about this! Bummer, I love Silent Hill.

Yeah, the fps really IS that bad on console. True story: Last night I played a different F2P game I'd recently downloaded. My SO, who has watched me play DbD, walked into the room and just STARED at the screen.
Then said, 'The graphics on this are WAY better than DbD. It's like this is a different console.'
Nope fam, still same console, just playing a game with awesome optimisation. DbD, please catch up!
-
You went for it! Congratulations on your achievement π
Looked like a great game, hope you enjoy the Red Ranks!
-
Is mori fun to play against? No, but I'm not going to NOPE out and DC over it. Killers who bring a mori aren't always looking to make your life miserable. It's a daily challenge as well as Rift. I'm not going to begrudge someone using it for those reasons.

Well to elaborate, swf plus headsets. Headsets give you so many perks for free. People know where the killer is, what he is doing, who he is chasing. The entire team knows when it's safe to work on gens, when it's safe to save someone, to take a hit with BT, to waste the killers time with DS, when to pop adren to screw the killer out of another down.
Also maps like Lerys, the game and Hawkins are not trapper friendly. Id say they are the worst for him because there is almost zero tall grass. Traps are pretty obvious. Indoor maps are just as bad for nurse. She can surprise you but that's only if she can see you. A lot of los blockers on those maps.
I'm not saying SWF's don't have great advantages, but I'd encourage a lot of new players to play a fair bit of solo, for the same reason you try not to use perks- so you build/learn fundamental skills instead of using them as a crutch.
I will duo SWF sometimes and I can honestly say I usually perform worse, and I believe it's because I rely too much on communication and teammate than my own skills. Sometimes SWF mind games itself without any help from the Killer.

I rapidly teabag other survivors to thank them for heals or just to goof off. I never bag a killer because I just think it's silly. When I play killer I just laugh when I get tbagged at the exit gate.
I do that, too. Or when I'm in close proximity to another survivor I do a quick double crouch as a way to acknowledge them and say, 'Hello there!'
But I've also used a slow double crouch with head nodding to the Killer as a 'Thank you for the game/Hatch'.

How do you know how many hours? Is that a PC thingy?
@JPLongstreet I think it is a PC thing. Otherwise you can check their profile if it's shared console and gauge their hours based on % of trophies unlocked. Not precise but neither is hours logged.
-
I think there's a lot of disconnect here because we all have such different ideas about what makes something a party game vs competitive. Like some of you are saying, common "party games" like Smash Bros. and Mario Kart, can also be competitive. Uno and Monopoly are party games but there's still a sense of competition and a clear "winner".
Based on that, I'm going to agree with @Kilmeran and say it's really a question if DbD is an e-sport game. Which I would say it is not.
-
They were probably frustrated and embarrassed that they got stuck and took it out on you. Doesn't excuse BM at all, just saying their reaction has nothing to do with you. It's all a reflection of their mindset.
-
Maybe there was intent for it to be a party game, but the way it's currently set up is as a competitive one. Otherwise why the ranks and such obseesion over them? The Emblem System? Maybe take away pips and monthly rank reset and it will feel more relaxed like a party game is meant to be?
-
That blade makes me wonder if Cloud took a wrong turn and ended up in Silent Hill, because it has Buster Sword vibes. C'mon, just give us a peek under that helmet, PH. I just want to make sure.
-
I don't know percentages of each console or PC that are responsible for DC, but I can say as a PS4 user I notice it with particular killers (Huntress, Ghostface).
I also PERSONALLY have had to DC due to fps issues. There have been times during match my survivor can't come out of crouch after working on gen.
So it might not be a particular console specific mindset, but rather a specific console ISSUE OR EXPERIENCE that is causing DC. Just a thought.

Gollum, is that you???

I main Dwight since first time launched dbd. And when I play Killer I never kill any Dwight no matter how good or bad is player. When I catch him I just hook him up to 2 times and hope he get saved. And I hate when Dwight suicide or DC.
This is precious π
I have trouble killing Ace. Sometimes I'll just drop them at the Exit Gate. *sigh* I wish blowing a kiss was an in-game emote option for Killers.
-
If I see the word 'Toxic' in the player's name, because experience has taught me they're letting you know how they like to play.
Also if the lobby seems like a coordinated SWF: One map, one toolbox, one flashlight, one med-kit (or variations on this). Sometimes I take the game anyway, but I usually just get rolled and feel like I wasted my time.

@Liddy said:
People who t-bag usually think they're better than they are.
It's actually kind of awkward seeing them t-bag and then go down the second after, lol.
That's why you need Ghostface, then you can t-bag them afterwards π€£

I think it's great for queue times and I love that it's a step towards bringing players across platforms into more of a community mindset.
HOWEVER, from a Killer stand-point I wish there was a way to identify specific player platforms instead of the universal globe symbol. Because let's be honest, sometimes I just don't want to play against a SWF and if the entire lobby is filled with globes, there's a fair chance I'm lobby dodging.
Also, enabling chat across platforms would be great! I know a lot of ppl think it will introduce more toxicity, but I would really like to be able to share a positive message or GG with the Killer, regardless of platform. That's honestly important to me, being able to share positivity and a sense of comraderie, no matter which role you played. We are one community at the end of the day!

@Jill10230 Lol, not true! I was working a gen with another survivor and noticed SC staying on. No TR, so I started to look around suspiciously.
Found a GF feet away from us, stalking us from behind a garbage can, in the crouch/lean out position. Freaked me out and booked it, ASAP, while the poor bloke on gen was oblivious π

Are you posting on AO3? I ask because they have a great tagging system to help people avoid triggering content. My experience in darkfic has been that if you post a fanfic without tagging specifics (ex. Gore, torture), you will inevitably have upset readers griping at you.
-
It's a good question, but I think the only way you'll really know is to give red ranks a go. I personally wouldn't want to play red because I feel like matches would have zero chance for chill. But I've never played in red ranks, so take the opinions of others with a grain of salt and do what feels right for you to enjoy the game!
-
This post is sexist. It should be addressed to Karen AND Ken.
Edit: I want to talk to your manager.
-
Spine Chill and Kindred. Especially if I'm playing late and tired, I'm less alert. So if I'm derping away on a gen and SC lights up, I'm able to snap out of it.
-
Depends on the type of playstyle you prefer. If you're looking for stealth and decent perks, or giving jump-scares, Ghostface for sure.
