That happens only at really low ranks though.
Once I got above Rank 12, I never ran into a "bully SWF" in the sense of they just swarm the killer, taunting him, blinding him, trying to see how often they can pallot stun him... etc. or at least one that I didn't thank them for trying, when I had 1 person on hook and 2 people on the ground nearby. The only thing a Bully SWF makes me regret is not slotting Putrid Oak offering.
Forrest Gump: "Sometimes... thars jus' not enough hooks..."
And if they're in a situation where they've already won the game gates open, and wanna have their fun, just walk to an isolated area of the map far from both gates. That "bully sesh" will quickly go wrong for them.
Sweaty SWF comps may feel like bullying, but I don't consider tryharding bullying.
In high ranks it's just a super optimal squad that does all gens, 99s both gates and then messes with you as long as they can before EGC starts&ends or you give up. Or, if you manage to beat them, they all just DC at once (and if I remember, there's still an exploit through invitation system that allows 3 survivors to bypass leaving penalty). Very fun, yeah.

"Information they were not supposed to have"
Could you provide some examples to back up this claim?
I'm not going to cover all examples since I'm going to miss some and there are just too much. Here are most gamebreaking from my opinion:
- Any killer aura reading perk, like OoO or Alert - one sees killer's aura and tells the others. Even knowing the brief position is enough for survivors to adjust their moves.
- One survivor follows the Trapper/Hag/Gorgon tells others where they leave their crap so others are more cautious. It's most gamebreaking for trapper, since you have so little chances of catching people in traps, that you can just give up on using them.
- One survivors knows if killer has certain perk - all survivors in SWF know the killer has that perk. For example good survivors tend to pre-drop pallets against spirit fury. Against good solo survivors the combo can be used up to 4 times if none of them happens to see it proc on other. Against SWF you can capitalize on that combo only once, then all survivors will do ######### to counter it.
Nothing wrong here, yeah.

Yes, they will leave the game for sure, if this is unfair and not enjoyable anymore, why should they stay? Also they are not seeking for another 4v1, they will seek for ANY game that is fun. I mean think what you want, but that does not really matter since devs know that survivirs will leave. And they also know that this would kill the game. Pretty obvious to me, guess not for you tho.
>unfair and not enjoyable anymore
Oh, now we are talking about "unfairness" and how it is difficult to enjoy the game. Without being able to capitalize on cheats or having downsides for a possibility to use such. Lmao
>ANY game that is fun
DbD can be fun even without comms, unless you are a sweaty tryhard who only wants to win every game and bully killers by abusing immunity perks.
>I mean think what you want, but that does not really matter since devs know that survivirs will leave. And they also know that this would kill the game. Pretty obvious to me, guess not for you tho.
Infinites fix will kill the game
Addition of exhaustion will kill the game
DS nerf will kill this game
Pallet vaccumm nerf will kill the game
Removal of exhaustion recovery will kill the game
BnP nerf will inevitably kill the game
Pallet reduction will kill the game
Another DS nerf will surely kill this game
Syringes nerf will kill the game
Yeah, sure.

Ah, "Streamer Videos". Only because said Streamer said that he has gone against an Top 1% SWF, does not mean that this is true. E.g. one of the Streamers claiming this on a regular basis gets the same Survivors as I, since we play on the same Servers. And either they are always Solo in my games and always in an SWF in their games, or the Streamer is incorrect.
Tournaments... Tournaments are a Joke. Sorry, to say that, but only if someone wants to do a tournament every few months, does not mean that they are valid at any point. You can watch a tournament and then come to the conclusion that this game is not ready for tournaments, but thats it.
Of course you can balance around Top 1% SWFs, if you like. Go ahead, do so. But I hope that the game will also be balanced on 1% Killers, so that 99% of the Playerbase will not have any fun anymore. This sounds great. While it is true that an optimal SWF (like, really, really Top Tier Players) are most likely unstoppable as long as you are not a REALLY strong Nurse- or Spirit-Player, these groups exist on a much smaller basis than players would think.
And pretty sure the Devs know about this, but again, it does make 0 sense to balance the game around those groups. If Killers would be so strong that they would easily be able to stomp those strong Survivor Groups (or even if they would be on par with them), you would screw up so many players. And the game will simply be dead. And this is something the Devs will know, because they have more knowledge of designing this game than those "Wannabe-Developers" here on the Forums who propose Ideas like balancing around the Top 1%.
Ok, we won't balance the game for top 1%.
But don't even dare to show up in Deathslinger/Phead/Spirit/other "no mistake=op" kinds of discussions and say how nerfing X because some people can play without mistakes on it and shred everything is a good idea, please.

What you are saying here is - SWF groups are actually looking for an unfair advantage, and will quit if it's removed?
That sounds like a win/win situation to me.
Oh, and that. Since most SWFs from my 4 year experience were trying to be bullies with all that tbagging and clicking crap, I would only be glad if they actually leave the game.

I mean I'm unconvinced of your argument as to why swf needs a nerf. Especially against 2 man groups.
Because the fact that 2, 3, 4 survivors can share and gain information that they were not supposed to have directly brake the game. Just because some survivors are so terrible, that they lose even with that, it doesn't mean that SWFs don't need fix.

Do you seriously think people play this game because its 4v1 and there are no better alternatives?
It is your words, you said that if devs do anything about SWF, these people will instantly move to the other game.
But here's the thing, they won't. They'll just accept it eventually, especially under pressure from the other sane part of the community and will keep playing, because if they wanted to leave, they wouldn't need SWF nerf.

Think about it, what will this do with SWF? Very likely most people who enjoy playing with their friends (and many play with their friends) will leave the game and search for a better alternative.
Now the masterquestion: What will this do with the game?
If you think this wont kill the game, you are terrible wrong.
Oh, where'd the go, what other 4v1 assymetric game could they find which isn't going to die and which has somewhat bearable balance? Oh yeah, right, there's none. Devs should realise that and stop making everything to please "im just playing with friends" bullies

Nah man, something basically every Killer would prefer to avoid because it gives unfair advantages can´t be bad, can it? It´s the Killers, they want ez 4ks every single game and survivors spawning hooked. Nothing wrong with enhancing the performance of a group way above their actual level via insane coordination and free information, it´s hard as-is as survivor /s
Indeed, how could I only have the audacity to ask for fixes for something so fair and balanced

If killers knew they were going up against a swf they would obviously lobby dodge. However I wouldnt mind being told it was a swf "AFTER" the match is over so I know that group was in one.
If killers would dodge any SWF, then that must mean they don't want to play against something. I remember the last time nobody wanted to play against something, it was reworked into current Legion

I would disagree and say that 2 man groups are fine for the most part as there still are a constant number of unknown variables that make it a bit more fair imo
But wouldn't the best way to fix swf would be to fix solo (specifically matchmaking) ? I assume that most people play swf because solo is extremely frustrating. Im using my personal experience here but I have been playing solo a lot lately and its not fun to play with people who have no clue of what they are doing. So they play with someone at least who is close to their level who knows how to play the game well.
Dude, it doesn't matter how's that compensated, the very fact that players can freely gain access to unintended advantage is unacceptable

How is anyone cheating? It’s literally in the game that removes it from becoming a cheat.
Playing together is in game and I never said JUST playing together is cheating. Play the way the game is intended to be played and I (as well as many sane players) won't say a word.
Using ######### voice comms is cheating which is not bannable only because "We can't prevent people from communication, they are going to use phones if we ban 3rd party programmes" (c) you know who.

If 4 man I would sorta understand, However if it's 2 man or maybe 3 man to a certain extent then I would say its probably fine.
Any. The problem just becomes worse and worse the more people are in SWF. 2 man SWF doesn't brake the game the way 4 man SWF breaks it, yet even communication between 2 survivors out of 4 is unfair advantage.

take a step back, stop enforcing the idea that all swf players are godlike players and unbeatable and maybe just maybe, you might actually learn that swf aint as op as everyone says
I'm repeating for special people, who don't read but rather look through, I never said SWF are OP. They simply brake the game, which is much worse.
I never said most SWFs are OP, if we started talking about that, I never had problems against such groups, unless I'm playing M1 killers which are generally bad and extremely demanding to the point it's just not worth playing them against any competent players. I don't care if the people in a SWF are good players or bad players. I simply don't care, because this isn't about skill or winning. It is about legal cheating which is the voice comms that not only make many pretty interesting playstyles and entire killers totally irrelevant against them, but also entirely replace at least a dozen of survivor's perks. There's no fair game or entertainment while facing SWFs, even if they are trash. Saying there's nothing wrong in SWF because "pOoR sUrViVoRs mIgHt bE bAd" is like saying there's nothing wrong in cheating because you are so bad, that you can't win even with cheats. That is what you sound like. Pretend that SWF aren't a problem because some cheating survivors are so bad, that they can't win even with cheats.
Voice comms contradict original (and as it seems current, since nothing was done to change the situation) design of survivors (which is them being unable to communicated anyhow but with gestures - lorewise and gameplay wise) and devs must do something about it, be it either allowing killers not to play against cheaters or buffing solos to level of cheaters and buffing killers or simply deleting SWF outside KYF mode. Saying "just ignore the problem, because you can still win" is pathetic .

Well tell bhvr to add bp, xp, rift challenges, rift xp, etc to kyf then. Again as I said tho this is unnecessary as you can find lobbies with solo, duos, and trios easy. It only takes me a few skips to find one most of the time. Sometimes I find those guys rushing through more then swf because they have the gens before friends mindset a lot lol.
If you want to farm bp, xp, challenges and so on, then follow the rules and concept of the game instead of using legal cheats and then acting like the problem isn't yours attitude.
-
@RizeAki said:
The problem is most people like yourself it seems don’t understand most swf groups aren’t much better then if they were solo. So you and others would dodge swf lobbies which makes up the majority. If players can’t play with friends because of longer ques they won’t go to solo they will leave causing you to also get much longer ques.
ps: there is a swf indicator in game more or less. Use crossplay to look for groups of players in multiple consoles. For example I typically look for 2 from my own and 2 with the indicator for more easy paced games.
If they want to play with friends, there's a special mode called "kill your friends" where they can play however they want without involving random people into "their" fun which very often doesn't mean the random would have fun aswell, regardless whether these guys are playing bad or good. If they want to play with anyone else but themselves, they must play by the rules everybody plays.

And a lot of people here bring reworks and ideas, your thread is just about a "Us vs them" Or you trying to create a argument (and your thread history doesn't really favors u)
All possible solutions have already been discussed, why should I repeat them?

OP's didn't bring a solution to SWF problems, Reasons why people play swf, problem fixes to solo q, buffs to killers and etc.
Pretty much on my POV this is a us vs them thread or just another swf thread, this has no solution, no fixed pretty much a pointless thread.
Why should I bring a solution? I'm not a developer to do that, I'm a customer giving feedback.

In that case that would be a good indication that SWF is a problem which needs further addressing.

The official DBD Discord encourages people to use third party comms (i.e. Discord). Both Xbox and PS4 have in-built party systems. The devs have said, outright, that it isn’t cheating. Keep beating this drum all you like, you’re wrong and you’re not gonna convince the devs that the thing they straight up give the OK to is cheating.
Once again, they have no choice =)
They can't say comms is cheating and then do nothing about it, so they have to be coping with it.

Clearly you never ran into 4 man teams who abused all of the features of the game back then.
There’s a reason I nurse until the start of this year.
I played Nurse only back then so abusers weren't a problem since most of their bullshit wasn't a thing to the nurse. Moreover, players back then played way worse than today.

You are making a false analogy for cheating gives advantages way out of coms league, if you dont agree you have never faced a teleporting Leatherface or a permasprint Survivor, I have faced both cheaters and SWFs with coms and I would pick the later any day of the week.
Coms with SWFs would be similar to facing people who train regularly on a 1000m race, cheaters would be like the same race but one is riding a motorcycle, its not the same and they shouldnt be put on the same category.

Just because these are different grades of cheats it doesn't mean one isn't a cheat. It's like saying "wallhack isn't a cheat because aimbot is much worse"

I don't want to play against cheaters, who will have unfair advantage over me because voice comms replace ~10 perks. It doesn't matter whether they are depip bully squad or just casual friends. These are the same to me, since they all are using comms to get unfair advantage and it doesn't matter whether they can use it or not.
I (and probably many other players) have no problems losing to better players. Although I see no skill in using cheats to win and ruin my games, so of course I wouldn't like to play against them, since that would be just a waste of my time and miserable experience instead of positive.

I don't think they had consider that talking in a swf group brake the game so much now they know and they don't know how to fix it because they can't with out putting voice communication in game or give the same info to solo as swf group has and buff killers after.
It's pretty impossible to give solo's same info as SWFs, though a lot can be done to try to +- aline them, which would be welcome, although that would break the immersion and feeling of horror even more.

That! Most survivor players who SWF constantly always says "but we're just having fun. We're not depip swat squads". Then call every movement of the killer to their friends.
Comms are OP, SWF can be really fun if you're really for shits and giggles, but if you're constantly saying "oh the killer is here, the killer is moving there. Go for the save as I'll finish this gen." etc... You ARE abusing comms.
Yeah, that's like playing among us with comms. You either play by rules and shut your mouth when it's not a discussion or when you are dead, unless you are talking on unrelated topics or you are a cheating moron. Especially if you are playing with randoms, while being in party with a friend. There's a special place in hell for both SWF "jUsT fOr fUn" and Among Us "My friend told me that imp is X"

Why should anyone go on a serious discussion with you when you consider SWF as Cheating? Despite the Devs saying that it is not cheating, offering the option to use Comms on their Discord and just the logic that a game which is created in 2016 will have played with Voice Comms?
The only reason devs aren't calling playing in SWF with comms cheating is because they can't do anything about that. That would be pretty pathetic if they called that cheating and then miserably failed to prevent it, so they'd rather pretend everything is fine.
By all definitions, using voice communication in DbD is cheating - it provides something, which was never to be intended to be in the game and this is a third party programme. Once again, the only reason Devs don't proclaim voice comms cheating is because they can't do anything about it. If they had an opportunity to completely shut down communication between people playing in SWF (which is totally unrealistic, sadly), they would've done it long ago, believe me.

Yeah, but Killers always blame their losses on SWF or Comms. SWF-Indikator Postgame would be fine, but I fear that many Killers will lose their excuse why they lost :/
And the Communication I have with my SWF-Friend usually goes around random stuff. And gameplay-related stuff is like "Are you on a Gen?" "Yeah" "Where?" "In a corner".
Or "Two people run around, 1 is doing a Gen, who are you?"
Or "There is a Claudette crouching near the Wall".. "Yeah, thats me"..."Really?!"..."No, why would I do that?"
And I guess like 95% of SWFs are like that. And Killers would simply dodge because they want an easier game, because Killers seem to expect that the game should be as easy for them as it would be for Survivors.
I can download cheats for dbd and use them only to mess around, but not gain direct advantage, yet I would remain a cheater.
-
@xenotimebong said:
If survivors could see the killer pre-game they’d dodge certain killers too, does that mean that playing Spirit or Freddy is cheating? Or that people, if given the opportunity, will cherry pick matches to go against easier opponents?
Do freddy or spirit allow using third party programmes that basically replace half informational perks ? No.
You could say spirit can use "good headphones" and win, but that isn't really the same, since listening (aka having good headphones/hearing) is one of core parts of killer's gameplay and is intended to be in game, while voice communication between survivors was never intended and, moreover, contradicts the idea of the game.

IMO Pig EITHER needs a complete rework or major buffs&fixes to her flawed traps&ambush -
- An ability to activate RBT yourself. It could be tampering with generator to slightly increase its progress at cost of activating all RBT or simply make them active from the beginning but increase the timer
- Survivor should suffer damage from Jigsaw boxes (since they are literally putting their arms in razors) for example for failing skillchecks.
- Jigsaw box searching should be reworked. F/e instead of searching 1-4 boxes, survivor can search only one and it could be any, however that would take much more time.
- Ambush should be silent/faster OR give Pig more benefits. For example allow Pig to grab survivors or, if Pig enters grab-range while ambushing to put an active RBT on survivor by pressing M2
-
Blighted cosmetics, all of them. The entire idea of the corruption changing killer's default appearance in what the are "inside" is awesome.
-
I quit playing him. He was very difficult for me before nerfs and now, when he was brought down, I just don't feel like it's worth it spend my time on billy.
-
You don't understand, it's waste of time only when they are losing.
-
Ok, so we make Nurse even more counterable than she is now.
Who would play her then? Who would want to suffer through her countless bugs, horribly demanding and boring to use power if that wouldn't give much more than other killers? Yeah, right, nobody.
Nobody wants to play her even now except rare nurse mains, but if she gets nerfed to the point where survivors can do some certain thing to guarantee counter her, even these rare people will abandon nurse.
-
1st person would be too hard to implement, though it would be an amazing experience. Enhance game a bit to Alien:Isolation level and you get best game of decade.
It would be awesome if devs lowered survivor's camera a bit so they are looking from their height and not from a point half a meter above their heads. Many killers that are actually much taller than survivors appear too small because of camera angles.
-
Legion now isn't much better honestly. He is still boring, but now just boring. His power is so rarely used compared to any other killer and that is just awful. It also has little rewards for performing well with it and just feels counterintuitive

Sure, as long as:
- It instantly turns off whenever survivor attempts to do anything unrelated to chases aka touching a totem&starting healing&repairing&hiding in locker&selfhealing&opening exit gates&unhooking&etc
- It instantly turns off whenever another survivor is hooked
- It doesn't activate if the survivor is grabbed
- It doesn't activate upon self unhook
- It doesn't activate when EGC is active
- It instantly turns off if the survivor is the last one in the trial.
Then I wouldn't mind DS having 2 uses or unlimited duration, as it wouldn't have any aggressive potential to be abused.

I disagree. I don't think the large variety of interesting perks that could be buffed to be mostly SWF proof shouldn't be, just because you could know whether or not the people you play against are premade. It's better in the long run if most killer options could be reasonably tweaked to provide benefits not entirely undermined by voice chat existing.
So no, I think plenty of killer perks could be revised to be resilient to SWF influence. That alone lessens the impact of SWF if you can rely on your perks through playing well, instead of having most of your build trivialized by a little bit of coordination and people revealing your build choices to each other.
That requires too much work& doesn't address the main problem anyway, as buffing perks&else wouldn't fix the fact that SWF can freely exchange information and coordinate themselves.
I'm not even talking about how buffing perks&powers would make solos even more unplayable.
The only thing that could be done to address SWF problem - allow killers to know if they are facing one so they can avoid negative experience of playing against legally cheating survivors. That's it. Any other solution would result in turning solo queues into hell.
-
The only buff killer needs against SWF is a knowledge they are facing one&being able not to a play against it/adjust their playstyle accordingly.
Argument about "friends having fun" won't work as they can always have fun in KYF where they won't ruin any games for random people, but as long as they are, other people should be given a choice not to play nightmare mode.
-
Reee we won't do bones to counter 1 perk that could possibly be not used
*devs add a perk that now demands survivors to clean or at least 5 bones*
Reee we still won't do bones because reasons
Basically survivors. Will find countless reasons to ignore anything but generators and then complain about killer's stuff.
-
Agreed. You don't need a reason to run strong things or play in group. Just don't be a [BAD WORD] because you won without putting more effort than usual.
