Buts it's a legit strat to Tunnel and camp a survivor....just like that 3 man body blocking so sorry you can't have your cake and eat it too....just because you don't like I'd dosnt make it any less a strat to use....

When did I say that it wasn't?

Maybe you should tell your little friend that very same message "You can't have your cake and eat it too". Besides Camping and Tunneling are more broken than body blocking will every be considering that YOU as killer can body block as well.

The whole topic isn't even about body blocking. It is about a bar reaching over 100%.

  • @GensByDaylight said:

I mean odd in a horror game.

Not a where killers get body blocked by survivors, then sometimes proceed to stand in front of the hook for prolonged periods of time, and then sometimes get kicked from the game by "subtlety" cheating playes

Not odd when (again) the horror that you seek, DBD is only loosely based on.

  • @GensByDaylight said:

The way that someone can use their body to block a killer without, getting shoved or something is... odd. Giving other ways to interrupt the killer to save your teamates would make more sense.

    Read the context before that.

Not odd in a meta where people idle at a hook and camp and tunnel the same person.

    Wonder if it's Wraith related.

Had a game earlier as Wraith where someone kept wiggling off early (Jill).

I assumed it was Breakout because of the Ada following me after pick up.

Left Jill slugged (she eventually bled out) and figured I'd see Ada with Breakout post game.....

    Jill had it....made no sense.

Hmm, interesting. Idk if it's Wraith related because this is the only time I have seen this.

I am definitely keeping an eye out for more Wraith games though.

It's just, mind boggling. You're playing a horror game, and the best strat is to stand perfectly still, directly in front of the killer, knowing that you're completely untouchable because if the killer tries to hit you, they lose the hook and reset the chase. It's goofy as #########.

Can you imagine a Halloween movie, where Laurie stands in a doorway mooning Michael going "nah nah nah you can't get through!"

Not really mind-boggling considering that it draws from a survival aspect in horror. Not the most broken thing in the world and it actually requires survivors to pause their objective in order to pull it off.

No I can't imagine Laurie body blocking but I can imagine her grabbing a shotgun and a couple of knives to fight back. Something which we don't have in this game. I'll gladly trade body blocking for those other tools.

  • @Seraphor said:

Looking at cases like this, makes me think Mad Grit should be basekit. Who thinks that's good gameplay? Three survivors standing still by a hook to block a hook action...

What's wrong with blocking the hook to save a friend? It's a legit strat.

  • @xfireturtlex said:

That's a connection issue. Happens from time to time. Somebody in the lobby had high ping. Sometimes it's just a spike and resolves itself, other times someone's about to legit DC and you get stuck like that.

Yeah, I guess we can add this to the list of issues this game has that revolve around internet connection/latency.

Edit: Watching the actual video, nobody had bad connection though. I assume no one did because none of us nor the killer had a red bar. If anyone would have a bad connection it would have been me, since I am the only one who isn't in the West.

  • Those type of individuals aren't usually the type to own up to their actions.

They are already doing something with intention of getting a reaction out of you (triggered, anger, annoyance) they aren't going to all of a sudden be like "My bad, I didn't mean to cause a bad experience for you".

The community wants killers to give them free wins, basically.

No, they just want a fair and balanced game. Current meta isn't balanced.

Voicing an opinion/feedback on just that doesn't mean "free wins". Unless you think those who voiced their opinion on old DS and old DH also wanted "free kills". Doubtful.

  • @Pulsar said:

I think maybe it enables tunneling a bit too much.

Ok fine... Let me throw something in.

Remove the nurse nerfs back to her being able to blink whenever without cool down.

    REMOVE ALL BILLY NERFS

Old Billy and Old Nurse, isn't the reason people used DS. Camping and Tunneling (a playstyle that till this day STILL exists) was and is still the reason DS even exists in the first place.

    We're talking oranges and apples.

  • Just gonna drop this here:

    Usage =/= Balance.

It may give some indication that it is a good/stronger perk, but it doesn't immediately mean it is unbalanced.

  • They do. They can close the hatch and it’s actually more advantageous for them considering they don’t have to hide.

How do you assess that you are high MMR?

    Im curious.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

This has probably nothing to do with bloodrush tho.

They just play like this normaly. I had plenty of pigs who put traps on you (including addons that work only when you are not tunneled) and then she just camp you and tunnel you with the head on. Classic.

I really wouldn't care if it was the norm or not.

Just pointing out that it's a sucky situation especially when it is the time when most people will use their flans/cakes etc.

This is false and I will provide an example to prove it. It's very simple : If there is a reward that is better than tunneling someone out then killers will do that instead.

Imagine if hooking a survivor reduces the generator repair rate (as well as healing, totems, doors, etc.) for all survivors by 8% if they have never been hooked before. That would mean if you hook all 4 survivors as your first hook then everyone has -32% to all actions. To prevent the rewarding of tunneling : if a survivor is hooked for the first time after someone is killed then that no longer provides an 8% penalty.

That would be better than tunneling out one survivor. Now imagine we got a "redo" to Dying Light so that it offered no bonus to survivors and read : If you hook a survivor that was not the last survivor hooked then all survivors get a stacking penalty of 4% for all actions.

Now in the same scenario you could tunnel out one player or you could get three unique hooks. Getting three unique hooks will bypass all the nasty things like DS and Off the Record. And every survivor in the game would have -24% + -12% penalty to all actions. The first few gens would fly like normal but the end of the game would be very slow. If you got in an 8 hook situation where no one had died then the penalties would be something like : 32% + 24 to 32% slowdown.

Imagine if you stacked Sloppy Butcher and Dying Light with two gen regression perks. Healing would be terrible with a minimum of -75% healing speed (and of course all healing would be reset if you stop).

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3302076#Comment_3302076

-"Survivors have been win-shaming Killers for years ... Don't tunnel, camp, or slug."

The problem with tunneling is that survivors want to tunnel generators and not get tunneled in return. That is a logic fault. Something like Basekit Deadlock would go a long way to prevent gen rushing. Add that and then add a minimum requirement of gens to be done before a player can be picked up to be hooked the last time (probably no deaths before 3 gens makes sense).

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3302064#Comment_3302064

What makes tunneling scummy? One player doesn't get much of a game. Well The killer doesn't get much of a game when all the gens are completed when he has two hooks. I have seen games in the last month where this has happeend to every killer main I have watched (Hens, Truetalent, Otz, Bronx, etc).

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3302085#Comment_3302085

You need to stop this rhetoric. Survivors want to tunnel gens and then get chased when the doors are at 99% and nothing matters because they can't really get killed and are not in any danger. That is scummy.

Remove tunneling for both sides or don't touch it.

Nerf Blight Nurse and SWF (as well as their addons and Spirit's addons).

    LOL "rhetoric"... get a grip.

Imagine not understanding how BASIC balancing works.

  • I don't think she is top tier, but I also think that some people on these forums are over-exaggerating with their critique on whether she is good or not.

Then again this could be said literally about any killer.

  • It's not about the why it's about the fact that it is not balanced.

More specifically with how easy/convenient of a choice it is for killers (YES Even those who are already winning do it). Devs need to address this playstyle where a perk isn't necessary to soft counter it.

  • @Frys_Dog said:

Sup Ada, what's with the long face?

She is trying to work on the gen, but the smell is too strong ok? 😭

  • Easy, disable crossplay.

As for a discussion about cheating, console players can also cheat. It doesn't matter who does it more, that really shouldn't even be up for discussion. Cheating is not a good thing, period.

  • "destroys the balance of the game"

Just because you have comms does not make the game unbalanced. That might have been true years ago, the game is a lot different today.

    Adapt.

  • Right now for me the meta goes as follow:

    1/2 Anti-Camp/Tunnel perks

    1/2 Gen rush perks

Because the devs increasing gen times while only scratching the surface of the glaring issues with Camping and Tunneling, has only encouraged those who heavily rely on these playstyles to do it even more. Even winning sometimes doesn't feel 'fun' anymore because you feel as though it is a finish a gen for your life or else... time. How is that even fun? It's the same as the boring people who slug at 5 generators, as if all will suddenly pop if they don't. All while having the same 4 slow down perks.

It's insane how longer gen times = Let's play even more scummy and bring all slow down perks to slow them down even more.

Eruption isn't overtuned. CoB isn't overtuned. That's not what's going on here.

People aren't talking about situations where survivors plan gens poorly and trap themselves.

The '3 gen' scenario is a killer, using specific killers/builds for this purpose, intentionally locking down 3 gens the second a match starts and never leaving, with their goal being to draw the game out indefinitely.

This isn't a strategy, any more than 2 survivors playing hide and seek for 30 minutes on Eyrie while avoiding AFK crows in the hopes the killer DCs a strategy. It's just taking the game hostage.

    Pretty much this.

Had a 40 min match yesterday against a pig who refused to chase. She would just kick a gen and get CoB/Eruption/Nowhere to hide on it. Wait for a survivor to go touch it and do it again.

We ended up just afking until she finally gave up and became bored of her own game.

Matches like this even if we had won are boring af. It didn’t help that the only random we had Dc’d on first hook.

I personally wanna try it since I have some sort of proof, I am not holding my breath and honestly I am more tilted about killers trying to excuse this behavior probably because they don't care even when they witness it than getting annoyed over BHVR not taking my report seriously. I will have tried at least.

You should, I am just sharing my experience as a whole.

I too provided video proof of them doing it not once or twice but to where it became clear that the killer had no intention of focusing her. She was basically mad at me for “immersing” when in reality the match had pretty much already been called and there was nothing I could do. The killer not having seen me a good portion of the match (because I was doing gens while they were throwing) went in on it. I reported both of them and like I said I was diligent about checking her profile and saw she was still able to access the game weeks later.

Who knows you might have a different result but I just don’t particularly care for their system as I feel they A) don’t even have the proper tools to create a proper report with evidence. B) There are things that can completely void your report. Such as something not being “bannable” like body blocking even when with ill intent or when the person admits they did it on purpose. (See one of my previous discussions)

  • Just from my own experience it seems like the reporting system doesn’t work because of the extensive context it requires.

I had a Nea who continuously blocked me any chance she could so that the killer would down me. At some point I even wiggle off because he couldn’t make it to the hook and she still continued on doing the same thing.

Weeks went by where I checked this person’s profile and they were still able to get into the game.

It just seems like unless the person is doing it the whole match or something drastic like that nothing will get done against them. So I personally felt I wasted my time.

  • This perk could be nerfed to the ground for all I care.

At this point every killer is running it and those who are sweating (I.E. Camping/Tunneling) run 3 other slow down perks with it.

  • @egg_ said:

I get why FOMO is such a bad thing and I do hate companies that do it, but that's when the cosmetics are a ONE TIME ONLY. I hate missing out on a cosmetic that I know I can't get it ever again. Rainbow Six Seige and Fortnight are notorious of that

But in BHVRs case they specifically said that the cosmetics will be back next year like EVERY OTHER game that has seasonal cosmetics.

But I pose a question....what happens to these folks that are afraid of FOMO if BHVR decided to close the servers down and shut down the game....will they try and get their money back because they think BHVR owes them something or will they just go meh and move on?

Exactly. There is a difference between limited stock and limited time.

I don’t think it’s cherry picking. The other things you mentioned are also relevant and things that I HAVE also seen discussed here. It’s just that this topic is the current topic being discussed mostly due to the fact that it’s news that was just recently announced.. That doesn’t mean that those other issues have not been brought up or addressed.

also let’s keep in mind that it shouldn’t be necessary for a person to post EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM they have with a video game/devs/company every single time they want to talk about one issue. That’s a ridiculous burden to put on anyone or expect.

I have literally never read a post regarding some of those topics I bring up, where mental health was the focus or concern.

They’ve been mostly about balance and survivors being frustrated about said topics (Camping/Tunnel focus someone out, BM and post chat threats).

So when you say “It shouldn’t be necessary” well actually it’s never been the case to begin with. I would take a threat of someone being told to end their life more serious than a time-limited skin argument for the sake of mental health, which no one (unless they are a doctor) should be trying to give unsolicited advice on anyway.

  • @RainehDaze said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3288186#Comment_3288186

Got it backwards; the point isn't how FOMO affects mental health, it's how mental health affects FOMO. So FOMO takes advantage of mental health to boost sales.

Doesnt matter. My point still stands.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

    I'm kinda torn on this

One the one hand i can 100% understand the outrage. I know a person who had impulsive buying tendancies and they went through 1000ths of bucks a month easilly cause of practises like this

On the other hand i can't help but feel that other peoples mental condition isn't bhvr or any companies responsibility

The person i know went through a class that taught him how to deal with his impulsive buying and he is actually able to shield himself against things like this now

And that has helped him more then any amount of yelling at companies will. Those kind of mental help classes need to be more readilly available

Going after the companies seems pointless cause literally everything can trigger those impulsive behaviours

Catchy jingles, flashy lights even sales can trigger it. If you are against limited availability you should also be against limited sales cause they trigger the same response of missing out.

I'm not going to claim to be an expert and know the answer to this so i could be 100% in the wrong here but it's a lot deeper then FOMO=evil

Honestly people shouldn’t try to make an argument of how FOMO affects someone else’s mental health when a) they are not a doctor b) not everyone suffers from the same mental health problems.

Also I feel like this is cherry picking considering that there are MANY other factors that this game has that are not tied to a skin that one could also say are problematic when it comes to mental health. Like the fact that people are telling others to end their lives on the daily in post chat. Or the fact that people are getting BM’d for absolutely no reason other than someone else wants to be a jerk. I could go on and on.

  • To me, yours looks bad, but his looks bad too. Nea was already way on the other side. You were actually right behind that survivors so if anything yours should have hit, his shouldn't have.

I think you guys should release stuff like this as a bundle option as well. I appreciate the communication. :)

The killer uses a tactic and outplays the survivor.

    Survivors: "That was unskilled"

Yet you still lost to the "unskilled" killer.

Actually that’s like saying you lost to a bad survivor because they had old DH.

It’s not so much the player is bad, as much as the player actively choosing the “easy” way. Because camping in the current state of the game is not balanced.

I’ll give you a more current example. I recently brought a key with blood amber + beads. Because I wanted to see what the fuzz was about. Allowed me to have wall-hacks on the killer’s every move. Was that tactical? Technically yes. Was it fun or fair for them? Personally I don’t think so, because it put me at an advantage. It didn’t make me think or mind-game the killer as much as basically just nullifying their mind-game, because it was that easy.

So again, it’s not so much about the actual “skill” of the player as much as the action that takes place being skillful.

Usually when I “lose” to a camper, I don’t equate that to someone who kept the pressure via chases and still 4k’d.

  • @Ayodam said:

I certainly don’t need survivors to play mercifully with me. Even if 2-3 gens pop before I get a down, I generally still snowball with a single hook. Hooking one survivor, if one plays their cards right, quite often assures a 2-3K.

As a survivor, I do not believe in providing reprieve to killers either. They’ll earn their win or they’ll lose.

This is generally me too! I think the problem is that some people have their minds set on that 4K kill/escape.

Usually for me it comes down to a mistake either on my part of theirs and honestly I have more fun in a game where something “spontaneously” happens like that, than when I see people trying to actively cheese playstyles/mechanics to gain an advantage.

  • On that last point, what do you expect survivors to do? Bless it right in between a 3-gen?

I get some locations are obnoxious, but lighten up on the expectations a little.

  • Nope because as of right now these are perks SWF expect: Eruption, DMS, Lethal, Pain Res, Call of Brine.

I don’t run any of those, except CoB sometimes. My only “gen perk” is Corrupt and it’s usually enough for me.

So what's the problem with antigen perks being strong? Considering how imbalanced gens are from killer's pov, anti-gen perks are a must-have in large part of games and need to be used as they're more or less a bandaid to the bad design of generators.

You talk as if killers bring antigen perks to stomp casuals at 5 gens and win even harder. But the majority of games end at 1-2 gens left even when running 4 slowdowns. The game would end at 4-5 minutes if anti-gen perks were not in the game. And in fact, anti-gen perks are probably one of the healthiest designed perks in the game as they: a) require interaction from the killer b) reward the killer for playing well.

This is especially seen in contrast to some of the survivor perks which are giving 2nd chances for playing badly.

Dude I never said there is anything wrong anti-gen perks. I was simply correcting you when you say that “They aren’t that strong anyway…” That part.

Because it’s simply not true. Your experience is that you absolutely need them whereas mine is that it depends. I main Michael (possibly the most slow killer in the game in terms of mobility). The ONLY time I get “gen-rushed” is because my pressure was not enough to me across the map from point A to point B. Which is the reason I hate maps like Red Forest. It has nothing to do with “needing” perks.

  • @Seraphor said:

What is the issue with adding voice comms? It is literally a feature that can be added as an option along with other things (ping system etc).

This isn't the first game to have ever come out with voice chat capability, if you don't wan't to take the risk of hearing loud noises you don't have to, you could just mute.

    F13th did it

    Evil Dead did it

    VHS did it

They're strong relative to other perks, but they're not overpowered or strong in absolute terms. In fact, there is not a single perk in the entire killer arsenal that could be said "overpowered". Anti-gen perks were even stronger before the big patch, what are you talking about?

Can't tap call of brine'd generator? Can't hit overcharge skill check? Can't let go off gen when killer hooks survivor?

Which anti-gen perks are keeping you awake at night, sweetie? Maybe it's not anti gen perks, but your teammates... just maybe.

No one used the word overpowered. You were the one who stated they aren't strong, which is completely false.

You do realize that most antigen perks only work after the killer gets down or requires action from a killer? Most survivors pump out 1-2 gens before the killer gets down in the majority of the games. That's without seeing/experiencing any anti-gen perks, so stop with that "we do gens fast because anti-gen perks are oppressive". You'd do it with or without anti-gen perks because the majority of survivors see it as "objective".

Anti-gen perks are not even that strong. They do become somewhat strong in 3 gen situations, but besides that, they're quite balanced. And if the killer gets quick downs, by all means, he deserves to get some gen pressure which is peanuts compared to what old ruin/pop was. And even the most-complained Eruption is only oppressive in niche cases and requires effort from the killer side.

You seem to confuse cause and effect order. Killers bring anti-gen perks because the game is massively unbalanced if you do not do so, irrelevantly mostly how good you play. And that's because survivors play efficiently on generators. While you are suggesting "we only push gens because killers bring anti gen perks"

And besides that, you can always loop better - nothing to do with anti-gen perks. Anti-gen perks reward killers for being good at the game and survivors for being bad. And most anti-gen perks are completely balanced and very easy to counterplay from the survivor's side.

Yikes. Wonder who fed you that lie.

I don't need to go into it with you any more, but know this: No one is buying what you are selling.
