    Exactly what I was thinking.

Another missed opportunity for sure. They wanted to trend on Twitter and they got it. Otherwise I don’t see the point nor does it make sense. He isn’t even like someone I think of as an actor when I think of horror genre films. 😂

True, but keep in mind that many killers’ iri addons are trash and not impactful at all. I know you said “some of the killers’ Iri add-ons” so maybe you were already acknowledging this

Ok, but that's not a survivor issue, it is THAT killer's add ons needing reworked.

  • Hard disagree.

This is the survivor equivalent to some of the killer's iri add ons. It is suppose to feel impactful and strong.

Steam charts show a stable player base. Not to mention those negative reviews were a reaction from people disliking the ptb.

It's clear you'll never accept DBD for what it actually is and there's no point in continuing any discussion with you.

Or you just ran out of excuses.

It's ok. I know what is clear is that you think the killer should be able to kill regardless of how broken and unbalanced the game is. :)

The killer needs to be able to kill survivors since that is the core objective of the killer. As a result this allows camping and tunneling to be effective strategies. You can't remove these strategies, because you have to take away the killer's ability to kill in order to do so.

You just need to accept that the current game design allows these to be as strong as they are and a massive overhaul to the game that likely won't happen, because DBD is doing just fine as it is would be needed to change that.

So what about me saying that they should balance the current state of Camping and Tunneling is telling you that killers wont be able to kill survivors? Also, never used the words "remove".

DBD is not doing fine, I mean if you're only looking at the numbers consider that maybe there isn't an Asymm game strong enough to compete.... yet. It's reviews are not reflective of it doing "just fine":

    Untitled Image

Point is, I want DBD to do better and I think giving feedback is important. Balance is important and if we're only here saying "Well the survivors are there to survive" and that had they not changed stuff... you should accept everything that they have already changed... I don't think that is a good mindset to have considering that a lot of the things they changed on survivor HELPED killers.

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3396908#Comment_3396908

You aren't looking at the game objectively. The killer exists to kill survivors. Hooking is simply a means to do so. Tunneling and camping are byproducts of the game allowing the killer to remove players from the game. As long as the killer has the ability to remove other players from the game, then tunneling and camping will exist.

And despite claiming that tunneling and camping is the worst thing to happen to the game, DBD has been fine throughout the 6 coming on 7 years despite tunneling and camping complaints existing since the game's start.

I am looking at the game as what it is... A GAME.

Your only excuse so far boils down to "The Killer Exists To Kill" .... but who cares about the rest right? Like the fact that this is a game and they should be conscious of the design choices they make when it affects overall balance right?

I'm not here saying "Survivor's job is to survive" so they should get 10 health states. Cuz that would be a ridiculous statement just as yours sounds. I do play BOTH sides and understands the different tactics that exist and corners you can cut, and as I already said Camping and Tunneling in their current form do not provide a balanced back and forth between the killer and survivor considering that all they have to do is pretty much just stand there and other survivors just hold M1 on a generator.

It's not like once this person is unhooked all of a sudden they have a fair chance at running the killer again when you consider the context like which part of the map where they hooked at. Then you're gonna say bring OTR, right? Well people have, in fact people have in every match because this playstyle is as present as the old DH was. As present as the old Ruin was. As present as the old PGTW was.... all of which were bad for the health of the game.

SO whether you think they (Camping/Tunneling) are a 'byproduct' of the game or not, they are broken in many situations. That is bad for an asymmetrical game, when there is no great deal of 'work" to achieve a kill when using this easy/cheap tactic.

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3396889#Comment_3396889

It does actually. The game could be balanced around hooking survivors where survivors don't die and the killer has to get X number of hooks before the survivors escape. However, the game is not that.

As long as the primary goal of the killer is to kill the survivors, the game has to balanced around the killer always being able to kill a survivor. Meaning that tunneling and camping have to be allowed as not allowing them would directly go against the killer's ability to kill survivors. The devs have put forward things such as Basekit BT and Haste to help combat tunneling and survivors have access to perks to help against tunneling and even a couple to help against camping. But at the end of the day those things can only help against those tactics, not completely prevent them.

No it doesn't. It doesn't "excuse" it, it doesn't make it any less frustrating to deal with and it certainly does not mean that it will stay that way, unless the devs want to see this game die.

The keyword you are choosing to ignore is "balance", it is not "balanced" around killing survivors, it is catering to the masses who want easy pressure. Because if there was balance around it, we would have something that would actually work rather than the bandaids like (mini BT) and Haste which does nothing against killers who understand timing and pressure. Real balance would mean that the person being Tunneled OR Camped has a FAIR chance should the killer decides to focus and only pursue them after being unhooked.

We can beat this dead horse until the game shuts down, Camping and Tunneling in their current form is the worst thing that could possibly happen to this game. Especially when MMR is not consistant, when a perk has to be brought in to semi counter something that at the end of the day we know means nothing when the killer doesn't magically divert to another survivor thus preventing them to tunnel. It is still a problem in 2023.

  • @Crowman said:

Dead Hard is barely getting touched.

The reason why camping and tunneling are still in the game, is because the ultimate goal for the killer is to kill survivors. Survivors cannot be allowed to have invincibility states as the killer should always have the threat of killing a survivor. Not to mention any sort of invincibility is going to end up being abused. The only way camping/tunneling would be removed would is to completely rework the game which there is really no need to do, because DBD is doing just fine as it is.

Newsflash, just because the goal of the killer is to "Kill" has NOTHING to do with how stupidly broken Camping/Tunneling are as playstyles.

What's next? Don't nerf healing AT ALL because the goal of the survivor is to heal, not to survive? At least make it make sense man. Stop trying to excuse this stupid playstyle that isn't healthy for the state of the game nor its longevity.

This is my exact point as well. If the Devs remove Tunnelling at the base-kit level instead of just trying (and failing) to fix it with perks, killers will need to adjust in other ways. They should actually improve their skills and get better at the game instead of taking the easy way out and Tunnelling a survivor early. This method is not satisfying for either side and feels cheap. Similarly, survivors can bring in Brand new part toolboxes or Emergency medkits, which fortunately are being nerfed.

It's essential to push ourselves to play with more skill, which is far more satisfying. When players realize that there are other ways to play and avoid Tunnelling, the game becomes more enjoyable for everyone. Tunnelling has become worse due to content creators bringing more attention to its effects, and it just generally becomes easier to do in-game each time new nerfs to survivors happen (see the recent healing changes).

It is single handedly the worst game design I have ever seen.

It brings the worst experience to anyone new who is trying to play DBD for the first time, and even more so when they find out how it requires NO skill to pull it off.

The devs themselves are slowly killing this game and pushing players away by continuing to encourage this playstyle.

A good killer doesn't need to tunnel because they're confident in their ability to capitalize on survivors mistake and actions turning it around to benefit them instead of taking the easy way out and tunneling/camping the first person you see out the game.

When I played Ghostface/Plague all I did was force 3 gens patrol gens I wanted to keep didn't bother with the ones I knew I was going to lose. Survivors tend to do inner gens first so force them to do the outer ones first.

At least this way you can defend hooks and gens at the same time don't chase every survivor you see stick to your gens eventually one of you will break

Everyone who has ever played DBD understands that tunneling is the EASY way to take a survivor out. Trust me.

It take MORE skill to not tunnel than to tunnel, I don’t care how many excuses people want to find to cope with their own insecurities about which is which.

  • ummm. Remember when they announced built in BT and OTR got changed and everyone said the same thing? Except it didn’t change anything.

This patch isn’t even remotely helping tunneling , let alone “solving” it.

  • No thank you.

First time I haven’t bought a DLC in a long time. The latest update tease did not make me want to either.

  • @Pulsar said:

It's kind of a terrible change.

It should be take a protection hit. Thematically consistent with David too

I wholeheartedly agree, this is probably the worst change they have ever done. (For me)

I don’t even know how such a small window really wasn’t enough that they needed to nerf it further.

It boggles my mind how people are asking for something that is consistently meta (tunneling and camping) to change, even AFTER they introduced mini built in aids that served as a bandaid… and they do this. It’s like they want their game to be only about Tunneling/Camping and forcibly holding M1.

It is clear by the designs they have come out with on killer too. Which is part of the reason I have not touched this game in weeks.

  • And I cannot wait for it to get here.

  • You forget this game doesn't like unique interaction.

That's how people act in every other thing with 'optional' voice chat. DbD would not be special.

That is your opinion and it's not true. I play other games where voice chat is also optional and what you're saying has not been my experience at all.

I couldn't care less if people did not want to get on voice. As long as they are doing what they are suppose to, it would never bother me that they would not want to coordinate via voice chat, but it shouldn't prevent from the rest of us to be able to. It's optional because if you don't want to use it you DO NOT have to.

Optional voice chat becomes non-optional when communication is THAT important because people will throw you under the bus if you don't engage with it.

Huh? So I just said you don't have to join voice if you do not wish to. How exactly is that it becoming THAT "important".... you're basing your conclusions on what ifs.

OooooOOoo spooky scary tunneling and camping! It's under your bed! It's in your closet!

It aint spooky, it's boring and unbalanced. NEXT

  • Showing other perks should have been there to begin with. Top two reasons:

    1) Camping and Tunneling are still a problem in 2023, to the point that say you are playing with someone who isn't as experienced or is new, slotting BT or if you know no one else has it slotting OTR as a go-to perk is key.

    2) There are perks that are well known to synergize better, in fact the devs themselves seem to encourage this but we are literally clueless within the lobby. Something which I have yet to understand considering that the killer does see our items (eg "Oh they all have items, let me bring franklins") I honestly don't find it fair.

In addition to a chat wheel, there should be an OPTIONAL voice chat for those who dont want to bother with a chat wheel.

  • Don't worry your Camping and Tunneling was left untouched.

Quite frankly the devs wouldn't have felt the need to add endurance after an unhook if killers weren't abusing this playstyle in the first place. Funny how that works huh.

  • Lol imagine thinking it brings solos to swf level.

You do realize that matchmaking is still isn't perfect, right? Players don't magically know that someone can/cannot loop. Most don't take hits or aggro... you know THINGS that SWF actually do.

  • Yeah good job at fixing what should have been there from the git go.

Whether you do/don't have an issue with FOMO selling tactics having a product return at a later date does not negate this is the sale tactic they are using. It the "fear" that if I don't buy now I'll have to wait a whole year to get it again.

"They are a business first, and a game second."

Not sure what you mean by this. Games are their business. Without games they wouldn't have a business.

It doesn't matter whether I do or don't. I am pointing out the hypocrisy in the fact that back when it wasn't confirmed they would return people weren't even willing to give them the benefit of doubt, and now even after they were told they would return they still want to cry FOMO. You are not missing out if the things are coming back AGAIN. Because then you would be including Everything that goes away and returns, not just limited to cosmetics.

    • Event-Specific items: Toolboxes, Medkits, Charms Etc.
    • Event-Specific Map Decor/Experience: Lunar Gens/Hooks, Winter/X-Mas Gens/Hooks, Etc Etc.
    • Prime Gaming exclusives. (Which actually I don't even know if this one comes back in any form or at all)

ALL of those contribute to "fear" of missing out. Its not just cosmetics.

I meant what I said. They are a business first and a game second. If the business is flopping and not going well (hypothetically-speaking as with any other business) the "game" ceases to exist.

  • Eruption is a badly designed perk even in SWF.

“I’m about to go d—“ *gen explodes* “Nevermind.”

Virtually the only way to avoid it is to purposely go down so you give people enough notice. It’s not even the fact that there is like 1% counter to it, it’s really the ridiculous 25 seconds of being unable to do anything that is dumb imo.

  • @Mr_K said:

To me "FOMO" should only apply to thing that will never be available again, which none of these cosmetics are. Not like any of this will appreciate into something of value later. You are basically throwing money into the void as once this game dies you lose everything. You all are better off using your money for something more tangible.

Seriously, you all are making this sound like buying land from Earth2. Next buzz word thrown around the form is going to be FUD.

Literally that is what it means. I remember the time when it wasn’t clear as to whether or not seasonal cosmetics would return, so people were using that as an excuse to cry FOMO. They said they would be back. Yet here we are, people still claiming it’s fomo.

They are a business first, and a game second.

  • Some people are more concerned with trolling and making sure someone has a bad experience, than actually playing the game.

I’d argue it probably goes deeper, as in issues that they have yet to resolve… but survivors are not therapists so hopefully they find the help that they need.

  • Worst perk ever designed.

I'm all for hating on Feng but it's the one time of year that it makes sense for her to get more skins.

I agree somewhat. However, she DID get a skin for the lunar event.

Prime could have gone to someone more deserving. It’s like they want her to be the “it” girl while only being the 3rd most played survivor. 😂

  • Another Feng skin?

    E5609538-5FCA-498D-B71F-FE49B395399F.gif

  • It would be hypocritical if DH was actually as unbalanced as Eruption is.

Just because a perk is meta, doesn’t mean it’s unbalanced.

  • @MrMori said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3314917#Comment_3314917

Whether or not camping and tunneling requires "skill" is irrelevant. Sometimes it's just the right thing to do if you want to win a game, strategically.

What I will say is that players who find a survivor who is weaker than them in chase and immediately hook them, proxy them, head directly for them after unhooks and give zero wiggle room even at 5 gens are extremely boring to face. Sometimes they'll hit as the survivor gets unhooked to trigger Deep Wounds and deny DH.

I just don't see how that is fun. Solo teams don't have the communication and efficiency to counter that.

It is relevant to the concept of skill and strategy. I am not saying every single scenario fits into what is warranted as "The right thing to do" because sometimes it is also "The lazy thing to do" , and that is the path of willingly just using easy/free pressure because the game allows you to regardless of it's unbalance core problems.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I really DO NOT care whether people fall into the "Goes back to hook immediately" "Idles at hook" "Insta tunnels the minute someone gets pulled off" categories, I really don't. I am just arguing the piece where people think this is SKILL. Exactly how many braincells does it take to actually pull that off? Balance camping out and then I'll agree with being the "right" thing to do. Until then survivors get scraps like 7% speed and 5s BT which can easily be baited, and reliance on perks in order to soft counter this core problem.

You realize that this same scenario you think killers have "The right thing to do", survivors don't have that, at least not the hooked person. They don't get to decide if they can just take advantage of a "core game design" to counter Camping or Tunneling, they have to bring the same perks in order to have a chance. I'll just leave it at that.

    @Crowman said:

You do realize the game is designed in a way where the survivors have a risk of having their actions limited. The killer taking advantage of survivors having limited actions to win is not "unskilled".

It'll be like saying survivors who are currently no being chased working on gens are unskilled, because they are taking advantage of the killer not putting pressure on them to get the objective done.

Telling me your “survivor version” or equivalent to camping does not take away the fact that it takes 0 skill to idle at a hook. Which is what it is.

I never brought up generators nor attempted to make a comparison. I am merely saying that saying you out-gamed a survivor because you had so much skill as to let go of your mouse button in order to stand still is not a skill. That’s just a fact.

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3314803#Comment_3314803

This mindset that tunneling and camping are innately unskilled is also wrong. By design, survivors will lose the 1v1. The skill expression becomes how long can a survivor keep the killer busy knowing that eventually they'll go down.

There's no inherit reason why good players should handicap themselves by spreading out hooks. It has always been best to focus hooks between a couple survivors instead of the whole team.

    Lmao

It’s not skilled, you aren’t doing anything amazing that warrants the term “skill”. You are virtually capitalizing on a badly designed play style.

One where your victim is unable to do anything (hooked person) and the others have two choices, trade OR hold M1 on a generator. The fact that it’s so convenient to the point that 1 person doesn’t get to play the game boggles my mind that someone would think this atrocity is actually skill.

No, I get it just fine. You are being obtuse to the point of extreme whataboutism. FYI, the logical fallacies list is not a checklist.

Imagine complaining about "whataboutism" in a thread that had nothing to do with bobyblocking in the first place, changing the topic and complaining about whataboutism. Cringe.

  • Because longer gen times = More time to Camp/Tunnel.

Camp/Tunnel is seen more in matches = Survivor’s survival chance decreases as the need for OTR becomes more likely (hell sometimes even that’s not enough) So they opt for the next thing = Rushing gens as fast as possible.

It’s also important to mention that while not every single killer plays this way, it is more common than not to have killers who do use these playstyles do it while 4-5 gens remain. All while having Slow downs galore. So that in and of itself encourages survivors to play as if they are going against that every match.

Even Dwight can "fight back", even agains Pyramid head. But magically he has this ability for only 60 seconds after his unhook. And only if he desn't touch gens. Decisive Strike, you know. Logical? No. Entity's rules? Yes. Nice. Then entity's rules are survivors can bodyblock killers. Just like this rule when they somehow can't take axes out of lockers. I'm sure David can teach Pig or Legion couple lessons even bare handed but axe would be even better.

I wonder if this also tied up to new wiggle mechanic. I've noticed it could be unclear (wrong) about bar progress.

Wow someone that actually wants to stick to the topic at hand, fantastic!

If anything this did make me wonder about overall wiggle skill check accuracy. Like I know latency could be playing a role here but also, what if the actual skill checks are somehow not registering? Ya know?

I also say this because recently I have noticed there are extra skill checks that appear even after getting hooked. Idk if anyone else has experienced this.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3313864#Comment_3313864

I'm confused. But okay, let's try.

    • The 'wiggle bar' does not always represent the exact break-free time, generally because of latency. You're still breaking free in the same amount of time though.
    • People took issue because you look like the typical bully squad that killers hate to face. Just...always BM, always out not only to win but to deny the killer as much BP/emblem points as possible.
    • Especially since you said that you didn't care about what sort of experience the other side had as long as you and your mates are having fun. That really comes over as 'yeah, we really want to make the other side suffer and extract a sort of sadistic enjoyment' justified by 'well, another killer a while back did something we didn't like once so now we punish all killers'.
    • There's a huge difference between bodyblocking to stop someone from dying and trying to win the game and doing this sort of wretched borderline exploit (abusing the way the hook box and survivor hitboxes interact to block the hook from an area where it visually doesn't look possible) when you've already won the game...presumably to annoy the killer, deny them BP and depip them? That's what people are taking issue with, because it really does come over as deliberately cruel.
    • While we can't see what happened in the game, the killer does have hooks on everyone and is playing a weaker killer. This doesn't look like someone who camped and tunneled, it looks like someone who tried to play fair.

Regardless, you do you. I'm just trying to explain why people reacted so negatively to you here. People...generally don't like bullies, especially bullies who engage in whataboutery to justify their behavior.

Again - I'm not saying that's what you're doing. Just how the post and your responses came over.

    Yeah.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BI7N5LHENBWF/smurfs.jpg

This was a game from Christmas Eve.

I loaded up a really funny build on Demo, alongside a flan and ran slap bang into a 3man comp squad with over 20k hours between them.

First time I'd ever experienced a HSFP squad and...it was memorable.

They went out of their way to deny me any hooks, had all the gens done by 5 minutes and were obnoxious in postgame. And it wasn't like I was running a heavy build or going hard from the start either - very clearly someone looking to ensure everyone got a bunch of BP and had an entertaining Christmas game.

These are the games that tend to stay with you - because after that, I definitely didn't feel like being chill.

People took issue because they are trying to project their own insecurities about how OTHER people that they have versed have played against them while using the body block mechanic. All because they saw a clip of survivors trying to block the hook… and nothing else.

You’re right. I really don’t care. I also said why, for the same reason that on the off chance (being very sarcastic here) that I get camped or tunneled. I don’t want to put my energy into thinking that the killer actually gives one <bad word> about my feelings towards the way they played.

Im not responsible for someone getting their feelings hurt because my philosophy of a game mechanic doesn’t fit their own opinions. Especially in a post where I didn’t even bring it up as a topic.

You think Dwight, the office idiot, armed with a steak knife, is going to "fight back" against Pyramidhead?

You just don’tget it but that’s ok.

Go make your own thread about how you don’t like bodyblocking. Because this thread isn’t it.

It makes sense the entity would remove items from a trial it doesn't want in there. Like Nemesis' rocket launcher.

WHY would three people run in to intentional get hurt?

Also, weird way to actually advocate for whataboutism there, dude.

And you advocate for realism vs fantasy…but only when it serves your argument.

    Pick one.

It either looks as odd/silly/stupid as other things within the game or you are just cherry picking for your own sake.

Why would I drop a pallet when I can fight back? That’s part of being in survival mode. Now continue to deflect the question by telling me about how the entity took away all knives and shot guns out of of the game while also explaining the how it’s not logical to take a hit for someone in a GAME.

Hmm. What do you mean 'targeted me in the beginning?'.

Yeah, that's what I suspected. Damn.

It's a tricky balance to find, but far too often 'we play this game to have fun - for everyone' becomes 'we play this game to have fun - at the expense of the other side'. I'm not sure if the latter is healthy, there's an element of nastiness or at least callousness there.

I am glad to hear that he at least got a kill out of that nightmare because wow it can be miserable when you run smack bang into a SWF on a killer you aren't great on, and getting completely rolled over by a team doing everything possible to deny you a single kill, then depipping.

The way bodyblocking works can be really silly sometimes, where someone can seemingly be out of the way of the hook (and your FOV) but still be blocking it. It's not an exploit, but it still feels...I don't know. Cheesy?

Again - I don't know what happened in that game, because all we've got to go on is a .gif, but that moment in time...yeah, it really sucks from the other end.

I mean tbf I never made attempts to provide more details than a gif about the match because my intention was just to show that the wiggle bar is an issue atm. Considering it was still at 100% wiggle bar seconds later. This could have been easily been a gif of someone simply wiggling out without body blocking and I would have still pointed out the issue.

I find it amusing that this is where this community has gotten to. Someone posting about a specific topic and all they could focus on is the way a killer got body blocked without them even having been there in the first place. (Not directed at you but an earlier post)

Which is the only reason I brought up camping and tunneling because against that body blocking is yet another effective way to attempt to get the killer off of someone. Even though some people just want to focus on the part where the killer got body blocked and not the part where they set the tone of the match by focusing a single person in the first place.

    Fair enough.

But - answer honestly - do you think this was fun at all for that killer?

And yes, camping and tunneling are annoying as hell, but outside of borderline exploits like Clown's ability to <redacted> and bypass BT, I don't think they've ever been less strong.

I don’t particularly care, just as much a I don’t think he cares about how I felt that he targeted me in the beginning (even though I was afk for like 10 seconds into the match bc I got a drink and got a free hook) and quite possibly the reason that led to me dying, which btw I never brought up. Just said my Ggs and left. It’s not that deep

There are no guns to grab. Where would a Survivor even find one? It's clear the entity removed them. Even the military/cop characters had their holsters emptied. The only time you see a gun is in the RE trailers. And it didn't even do anything!

Point is if you’re gonna complain about something looking “stupid” which is honestly just your opinion. Complain about the rest too.

Oh so now you want to talk about the entity aka the games. Got it 😂 I thought we were focused on reality here.

    Well, it looks freaking stupid.

"Let's all run in front of Michael Myers and let him stab us!"

Again. We could say that about many things.

“Well let me grab a gun or knife to protect myself against someone trying to kill me…nah let’s drop a pallet instead and run around”

    It’s a game.

Where did I say camping and tunnelling were ok?

Stop with this infantile tit for tat, multiple things can be wrong at the same time.

This is not a protection hit, it's an absurd abuse of mechanics that only SWF are likely to get any value out of. It's a bully squad. They are literally standing still in front of a hook while the killer flails about unable to do anything about it, it's a lose-lose scenario for the killer. The killer has successfully won a series of chases, likely burning through a Dead hard to get there, and all that effort was for nothing because a few survivors stood still.

The killer equivalent would be a survivor completing 99% of a gen, and a killer approaches, stands still next to the generator, and the survivor is unable to repair the last 1% because of the mere presence of the killer. There isn't even a choice to be had, the survivor isn't choosing to not complete the last 1% in exchange for a health state, they simply can't.

Bullshit like this is why so many bad killers resort to camp and tunnel.

You weren't a part of this match so you do not understand what was going out during it. We weren't trying to "abuse" a mechanic, we were trying to protect a friend seeing as this killer had no chill since the start of the match (Hence WHY I asked you earlier about taking a "Hit to save a friend" in case you didn't catch that).

My problem with your previous statements is that you want "basekit mad grit" simply because you don't appreciate survivors body blocking and there are 3 doing so in the gif. Congrats you have a case, now you can make a new thread about it, because this wasn't a thread to talk about "What I don't like about body blocking" I am literally mocking the issue of being at more than 100% wiggle and it not working.

The only thing this image tells me is that Survivors shouldn't be able to block hooks by standing next to them.

Seriously, how can you do something like this to a player and come away thinking that you are the one wronged in the scenario?

Good, make a thread about it.

    Context is for kings.

It's completely fine when it's done tactically. When it's done as a concerted effort to deny the killer the single kill they need to avoid depipping at the endgame, on a game that's already a blowout, it's just...needlessly meanspirited. It costs you nothing, but makes someone else's day just a little bit less unpleasant.

I think what bothers me is the sheer amount of trash talking and salt I get when I don't give someone hatch - but I can list the times a survivor has given me a kill on a complete stomp on...well, 4 fingers. In maybe 1,000 hours.

I'll always try to give a killer a kill on a complete loss like that, especially if I know I've already secured my own pip because I know how obnoxious these games can be.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3313029#Comment_3313029

Firstly, I swear - if I had a dollar for every time I've gotten to say 'whataboutism' this week, I'd be able to afford a family size pizza for myself and Mrs. Lost.

Secondly - it's more...ugh. There's a double standard at play, where the killer is always expected to show mercy to the last survivor on a rough game via hatch but there's no expectation whatsoever of a survivor giving the killer a mercy kill.

Like - aggressively bodyblocking to save someone from the death hook? Nobody's going to have a problem with that. Much as with slugging someone when there's another target right in your vision.

Aggressively bodyblocking to prevent the killer getting a single kill in a game you've already won by a mile? That's just being a poor sport and a bit of a bully. It costs you nothing to show a little humility in victory - and it makes what was probably a really frustrating game a bit less so.

The equivalent is a killer hard slugging or camping the final three survivors after survivor 4 DCs.

There have been so many matches in which we couldn't do anything for a teammate. Which, with the way that Tunneling and Camping have become very potent in this game, I won't say we haven't resorted to attempt a protection hit, but also we don't do it because we want to deny someone of a hook. Our gameplay is more interactive than that. We don't play the game to win, we play it to have fun regardless of the outcome.

  • No because often times when people were cleansing a totem (as an example) their only other mate was being chased, meanwhile the hooked person thought they were just ignoring on purpose.

With the HUD at least the person cleansing the totem can judge better if they should cleanse the totem or not. It eliminates the excuse of “sorry I didn’t know”.
