Are we going to keep ignoring that survivors doing their objective is a giant problem?

Excluding iri head a lot of her other addons are dumb
Exhaustion: Say what you will about exhaustion addons but 90 seconds is too much
Pungent fiale: a detriment that clutters your screen
Also a bunch of useless status addons. They need a rework desperately
Exhaustion itself is more unfair than exhaustion addons. I don't see how that's any different from survivors bringing maps or other perks specifically designed to tell you exactly where our hex totems are, so you can literally erase one of our perks from the game.
If exhaustion addons bother you that much, you rely too much on exhaustion perks to survive. Which means you're a mediocre, at best, survivor.

Wait I'm confused... You say that killers are having a field day when they don't see DS, but you also claim that DS is now a waste of a perk slot. How can a perk be both useless but also prevent killers from having a field day?
^^
-
Spine Chill isn't necessary. You have a 360 degree swivelable camera, and eyes. Spine Chill isn't a bad perk, but it makes you lazy. Much like Dead Hard, or exhaustion in general (aside from Head On and Adrenaline - since Head on requires planning, and Adrenaline has an earning requirement), you'll be a better survivor if you can learn to survivor without them. You'll think more about situational awareness without Spine Chill, and pay more attention to your surroundings. Just like you'll pay more attention to loops and mind games without Dead Hard, instead of just greeding a pallet with a dead hard for distance.

Anyone else think D-strike is a waste of a perk slot now? It's only really useful if some idiot farms you and you still get slugged anyway, these killers are having a field day when they see no ds. I run in a swf so I never get farmed and someone is always running BT, the 60 second really is a waste of time where you could be doing something valuable. No one runs DS anymore I think they should change it but in a way were it's still run able or at least do something about the incessant slugging.
You mean now that it's actually a perfectly balanced anti tunnel perk and doesn't allow you 60 seconds of invulnerability while helping your team, it's atrocious?
Old DS abuser spotted.
-
Survivor: "Nice tunneling, #########"
Me: Nice doing generators efficiently.
-
Is this another "omg there's an iri head every game!" thread?
Cause there's not.
I haven't seen one in literal months.
-
If I tunnel someone, it's for no other reason than I felt like it, or that an advantage was presented to me that I would receive fully by tunneling or camping. So I did it.
I don't care about the rules survivors make for killers. I play to win.
-
Imagine thinking that if you're doing anything useful to your team, you're being tunneled.

but its a no brainer to tap a gen you would have done it without DS anyways so...
and? It's part of your objective. If you want to keep DS, don't tap the gen. There's no argument against this.
-
I don't get it. DS is now a *perfectly balanced* and purely anti tunnel perk...but now it's not good enough anymore.
I'm starting to think being tunneled isn't why people used it. Considering all of it's anti tunnel functionality is 100% intact.

So you are complaining that while being tunneled you get punished for progressing the state of the game. Thats what the nerf was for. Its an anti tunnel perk and nothing more.
It's not about "can I or can't I do this while being tunneled?"
It's about "Should you be able to do this and still be invincible for 60 seconds?"
The answer is no. Stop trying to justify doing anything toward your objective, no matter how small, and acting like you're being tunneled. You forfeit the right to say "stop tunneling" if you do anything to help your team aside from wasting the killers time in a chase.

I agree that there should be an obsession every game.
As for tunneling, when the number of tunnelers increase more people will start to use DS and it will go back to a place where it once was.
Issue with "a place it once was" is, I could count, on one hand, the amount of times I got DS'd because I was tunneling. But I've been DS'd many, many times. Usually by a fully healed survivor, working on a generator. Or by a survivor who was farmed in my face before I could get away from the hook, and tried to force a BT hit when I tried to go after the unhooker (invitation to tunnel, you don't get to complain).
In both of these circumstances, I was called a tunneler.
The big thing is, survivors, and people who play the game in general, don't actually know what tunneling is, and use DS as a measuring stick for it. "Came after me within 60 seconds? TUNNELER!"
-
@FlameGNG said:
tapping a gen shouldnt remove DS it should make it lose its time like 8x faster or like 12% faster while doing something that currently removes it this would allow you to tap a generator but you wopuld lose it fast for working on it. Tapping a generator is strategic if you pallet stun and there is a gen around like (2m) i would 99.9% of the times go for a .1sec tap to stop it from regressing now tell me why that should break an perk made for anti tunneling? and give me a good reason why you shouldn't be able to tap a generator while getting chased in this case tunneled... now i dont hear survivors crying about noed. Now i understand that DS isnt really skillbased which is pretty sad but just the tapping thing really bugs me. I dont see a reason why you shouldnt be able to tap a generator. right now its possible to have a generator regress for 50 sec because you couldnt tap it and teammates are doing other gens i understand if working on it removes DS fine but being on it for half a second doenst mean that u arent getting tunneled!
Tapping a gen to stop regression (and therefore helping with your objective) should absolutely remove DS. Don't tap the gen.

A lot of us had him for a week in the PTB. He's actually been NERFED since the PTB.

I'm a R1 PS4 player, it was just a fun little idea to discuss, it's not like it's serious, no need for insults.
A dead hard for distance can not be countered. Stop with this "just bait it out" nonsense. Even if you know they're going to do it, when done for distance, there is nothing a killer can do.

I only see this happen if the survivor camps the pallet.

Your whole argument at this point is victim complex. Learn how to counter second chance perks, which you can counter deadhard, something called baiting, or slug to counter DS. Literally your whole argument is ‘Oh killers have it rough so we can di what we what but survivors have all these bs perks so im gonna sit here and act like im all tough and say ‘tunneling isnt agaisnt the rules!’ Just because your upset you cant counter second chance perks
Your whole argument is "OMG STAHP PLAYING LIKE THAT OR IM GUNNA BREAK SOMETHING!@!@2232#?@?@!!"
I mean, at least mine is less juvenile.
-
You can get rid of the killers only real unearned second chance when survivors lose all of theirs and actually have to outplay me instead of hit E for distance.

Today I played 4 games in a row for Wraith when I started was rank 3, now 4. Devs killed the ability of the Wraith, now it is the most common m1 killer. I have with great difficulty, it turns out to hang at least 3 survivors for the entire game. At the end of the run or all 4 survivors or impossible to kill 1. After decloak before was a bonus to speed, and now it was removed and catch survivors experienced absolutely impossible.
Wha?
He's WAY better now.

Because forcing survivors to bring a perk on the basis that if they don't they may just not enjoy the game they get into is not a good design for a perk and shouldn't be the standard way we look at them. Its the reason i don't think regression perks are fun to use but i still run them because the value i can get from them against a good squad. I don't think the idea that i potentially wont be able to enjoy myself if i don't bring x is good.
Not to mention all the perks that i see like this and i run because of this thinking
DS
POP
Ruin
are from paid DLCs...….
Welcome to killers lives for the last 5 years. Now you know how it feels.

Because that's just blaming survivors for not bringing something that isn't mandatory. If someone doesn't want to bring it, they shouldn't be punished because they wanted to use another perk.
Also if 4 people (most likely solo que) decide to not bring it, the killer has open gates to tunnel every single one of them. This may encourage people to play swf more, but then killers are always complaining about that... so to make it simple, just make the obsession base-kit. I really see no harm in that.
Survivors blame killers when they get genrushed all the time. "Just apply pressure"
Better example - survivors blame killers for what DS used to do all the time. "Just don't tunnel" - even though it was rarely actually tunneling.
Sucks, doesn't it?
Just run DS.
-
DS is a perfectly balanced perk now. Why not just run it?

In a game about killing. With a mode called "killer".
Also no - it can't be turned off.

Yep. Anti Tunnel perks shouldn't exist. You shouldn't NEED a perk to be allowed to play the game.
Could say the same about survivors second chance perks. You shouldn't NEED to win the game multiple times as killer because survivors have literal get out of jail free cards.
Let's not go down that road.

I feel SELF-healing (Not healing others, but like using a medkit or self-care) should let you keep DS up.
If you're able to heal yourself, you're not being tunneled, and therefore should not be entitled to invincibility.
-
@CashelP14 said:
Very good change but it's not going to be used much unless they actually buff the anti-tunnelling part of it.
So free tunnelling pretty much lol
100% of the perks anti-tunnel functionality is still intact.
It deactivates if you touch a gen, heal yourself, touch a totem, sabo a hook, or unhook someone else. You do not get to complain about tunneling if you are doing any of those things. Period, end of story.

They censor the word "kill" and "killed". In a game where there's a mode called "Killer".
Keep in mind, this is the same company that nerfed Gear Head.

If the regression is "literally nothing", why is it a problem to tap a gen and waste DS in the first place? Just don't do it then.
Gottem.
If it's nothing, why are they complaining that they can't do it?

The fact that the word "killed" is censored is actually mind boggling.

I’ll elaborate further: If you catch a dead hard user in the open, the only thing they get is a few more seconds before going down. If they’re looping you with dead hard, they throw the pallet, one less loop to worry about. & if they’re near a jungle gym, time to find someone else to get. I get it it’s annoying, on certain situations you can wait, others you lose the chase. I do apologize for my vague remark without further elaboration.
That's the issue. They should have gone down and are only up because of their perk. A killers time is 4x as valuable as a survivors time, and that's just broken.

I said "in all but the most pedantic sense." Contributing less than a percentage point to a generator is not meant to move the game along; it's meant to stop regression (which is a massive joke in its own right but that's a talk for later).
Again, there's no immunity. It's not infinite mettle of man. It's you get smacked, slugged, and eventually (hopefully) healed, and for that entire duration you've been slugged, you have not been doing anything. Deal with it.
It's not "contributing less than a percentage". It's countering something the killer did, to buy time.
There is no version of this where you're right.
-
@ShamelessPigMain said:

Tapping a generator is not "doing your objective," in all but the most pedantic sense. You aren't invincible either; you can still be downed. Idiots who wave DS in my face get smacked and then left to bleed out. Remember that a survivor who's on the ground is a survivor who isn't doing gens.
Tapping a generator to stop regression IS contributing to your objective. You are not allowed to be invincible and contribute to your objective anymore. Deal with it.
-
@ShamelessPigMain said:

People tap gens while in chases. Especially if the gen is at a loop (T&L's, jungle gyms, pallet gyms, etc. etc. etc.). It's not that hard to imagine.
Maybe, don't do that then. There's no fair world where you should be invincible and still able to do your objective.
-
@meowzilla69 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/237824/dead-hard-problem-or-not
I’ve said it once & I’ll say it again: Dead hard has the easiest counterplay: once you know the survivor has dead hard. You wait for them to use it, then swing & down them.
Explain how "wait for them to use it" applies to a dead hard *for distance*.
Spoiler: It doesn't. When used for distance, it has no counter.

@HuDawg said:
Since the ds nerf every game i been has no obsession which means the killer hard tunnels the first survivor he sees😐
Well golly, it's almost as if people DIDN'T run DS just to stop tunneling. It's almost like they were purely using it for abusive, oppressive and cocky plays.
That's the only explanation here, since 100% of the perks anti tunnel functionality is still intact. Apparently not being tunneled isn't what survivors are worried about after all.
Hmm. Who saw this coming?
-
I played probably a good 50 or so Trickster games in the PTB, and 10+ today. The only notable change the devs made to him was actually NERFING his ricochet addon. He was trash in the PTB, he's trash now.

Of all perks - mad grit. A perk that gives you no advantage whatsoever, as long as the survivors aren't idiots.

Forcing a filter in a game designed around murdering innocent teenagers is kind of like watching an X-rated film where they blur out the male's privates. But only the male's privates.
