If I see someone being camped or tunneled or slugged, I know they didn't lose. They're being punished for existing. And if someone feels the need to punish you for existing, that means you won.
This is where you're not thinking clearly. People like you and OP are taking being camped or tunneled personally. It ain't like that.
I play to win. I follow the rules set forth by the developers of DBD (aka - survivors don't make the rules), and I don't break said rules. In doing so, I play this PvP game, taking every advantage I see, and try to win the game. That's fun for me. Winning is fun.
You seem to have the issue of taking it personally. As if killers are doing this just to spite you. Or for the sole purpose of pissing you off. It's not like that. That's a personal problem for you. I'm not sitting here shaming you for playing a certain way (like you are, nearly constantly). I don't care how you play. I don't care what you use to play that way either. In that mindset, I also play to win. If that means I see you as a weak link, I see that as an opportunity to put myself at an advantage and get you out of the game quickly, thus dramatically increasing my chances of victory.
This is a PvP game. Not a PvE game. We are against each other. We're not team mates.
If a survivor dies, they lose. Even if they were camped or tunneled. Just as if a killer loses to X amount of second chances survivors bring to the game, they lost. Regardless of how they lose, they lost.
Stop gatekeeping.

Believe me buddy. It's not the game. It's the people.
It's a game designed around slashers murdering, relentlessly, helpless teenagers. With the help of a supernatural entity. Players play the game, and follow the rules set by the developers. Survivor gets mad and wants to break things.
You're right - it is the people. They take it way too seriously.

Your "You sound mad" comment just reeks of absolutely the opposite of rationality in a game where tunneling is still a problem.
Go back to tunneling. Sounds like OP threw a rock and you catched it.
It's called poking fun. When you say "I'm so mad at a video game I want to break something", I'm sorry, but that's HILARIOUS to me, and being that mad over a game deserves scrutiny.

Hitting a survivor is literally just pushing a button too. Guess there's no way to outplay anyone in this game!
It has a couple of counters, actually. There's even a perk for it: Blood Echo. Not to mention the exposed status effect, killers with one-shot abilities, etc. Exhaustion add-ons too.
And if you're using it for distance, you won't get much distance unless you're either: A. In a strong area (which you led the chase to), B. In a weak area, and it does nothing for you, or C. Near a pallet/window, which if you time it late then you get hit, and if you time it early you just make the pallet earlier than you would've anyway. And if you're in a weak area, you wait out the dead hard, which is another counter for it.
You're trying really hard, but it's failing.
"Hitting a survivor is just pressing a button hur dur". Yes, let's ignore the zoning, the mind games, and generally just getting to a position where you CAN hit them. Yeah, "just pressing a button".
Also, no, when used for distance, it has no counter. Blood Echo is situational. Dead hard is "I got hit, now I have this free second chance". Exhaustion addons are also actively being removed. Because the devs KNOW survivors need their dead hard or they go down like a sack of broken hammers.
Please stop. You're trying so hard, and it's almost sad.

You're aware that using dead hard is more than just pushing a button. You have to use it at the right time if you want to get much use out of it. You don't just push E and then suddenly get teleported away from the killer. You have to time your dead hard properly. If you're too late, you don't make the pallet/window. And if you use it too early, you were making the pallet/window anyway.
Using dead hard for distance (the part I keep mentioning that you seem to conveniently omit) is literally just pressing a button. And it has no counter.

Do you often just comment because you want to feel better about yourself? Do you even play survivor to back up your statements? I don't think you do.
You realize that they are talking about in-game actions vs perks right? In-game actions are available 24/7, Perks are not. This is why the meta will never change.
Starts post with an insult. Signs of not having an argument.

You’re so annoying. every single time someone makes a post about something on the survivor side you’re so quick to judge and insult, it’s disgusting.
Where in that post have I insulted anyone?
Kindly consult a dictionary. Insult doesn't mean what you think it means.
And I reserve the right to judge someone who clearly has anger issues. They literally said they were going to break something because they're mad at a video game. Imagine if that person ever has children. Are they going to break their child because their child makes them angry?

So if a killer downs me in a dead zone where there's nothing to play, and they down me, they're just better? Because they found me in a dead zone? You're saying I should accept it as a loss because of RNG?
You're aware that to get to the dead zone, you had to go there yourself. Meaning, the killer either zoned you to that spot, or you just ran there yourself.
That's where your pityful attempt at a counterargument breaks. Because the killer can't take you and PUT you in a dead zone. That's on you. You screwed up.

Wow. So saying that everyone is allowed to be upset about something if they want to is now gatekeeping. Who knew?
Endorsing people being upset and raging over the way other people play when it's within the rules set by the devs contributes to gatekeeping.

Keep in mind, this is a thread created by a survivor who calls themselves good, but also complains about running out of pallets, and says if they get tunneled or go against Doctor one more time, they intend to break something out of anger.
Yep, it's killers who are the problem.

Nope, you inferred that incorrectly. If you read the post I made I actually talk about how much variance the skill gap is in rank 1 alone and that if the rank system actually reflected skill, I would not be a rank 1 killer.
You stated the only people saying dead hard isn't a problem are the ones who can't win a chase without it. I proved you wrong by stating that I am a killer player that plays in red ranks and showed you how I can have big win rate with only 1600 hours in the game. With you having many more hours in the game as me, I'm guessing you too have a very good win rate and a good amount of those survivors you won against, probably used dead hard as well. If that last statement I made is true, what kill % do you need before you can be happy? Survivors are allowed to have strong perks.
You didn't "prove" anything. You simply said, in so many words, "nuh uh".
-
@Red_Beard said:

If I am interpreting what you are trying to say correctly, you are saying those that say the perk is fine are survivor players and those that think it is not fine are killer players. If so, that is an assumption of yours that is adding to the "us vs them" mentality. I have seen a few of the posters state in this thread they play killer and feel it is fine. I am a rank 1 killer and feel it is fine. Myself and one other player just posted some stats from 50 games played as killer. We both saw what you saw, dead hard is one of the most brought perks. But the other person had an 89% kill rate in their 50 games playing a few different killers. I had a 79.5% kill rate only playing Wraith. We were able to win a majority of our matches even though the survivors had strong perks.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/237583/my-life-as-a-red-rank-killer-50-wraith-games
I think a lot of the problem is people get frustrated when they lose and have a hard time accepting their own skill as a reason for the lose. Especially red rank killers. They might think of themselves as the best of the best because they are red rank and that can be very untrue as there is such a large variance of skill in red rank alone on both sides.
If that is not what you are trying to say, I guess I don't understand.
Wait wait wait - so what you're saying is, if I as a killer outplay a survivor, and they should go down, they have dead hard, so they're just better? Because they have dead hard? You're saying I should accept it as a loss because they pressed a button?
If a survivor SHOULDN'T make it to a pallet or a vault, but they dead hard for distance (which has no counter even if you know it's coming), which can extend a chase for X amount of time depending on where they get distance toward, I should just "accept" that loss because they had dead hard and were just better than me for pressing a button?
When's the last time you saw a survivor accept a loss to NOED?
In what world is it "fair" to outplay a person just to have them press a button, and activate an ability that was literally handed to them for failure, aka being hit.

You preach how we all pay for the game, yet you're gatekeeping playstyles. Please stop.
It's a PvP game. I'm supposed to kill the other side. But yes, I'm entitled for playing to win. Not the people demanding I play a different way to appease their fun. Nah, that's not literally the definition of entitlement or anything.

I think it depends honestly. If u tunnel on purpose and have other oppurtunities to chase ppl I will agree with u that thats unfun and really not the way u should play as killer. Like u should rotate between survivors if possible.
It depends on the team if I tunnel or not. What u get a lot at higher ranks is ppl unhooking and then just going back to playing immersed by daylight while the unhooked survivor sits under the hook and self cares or does ur hex or pushes a gen cause hes basically going "im protected by my DS and the survivor rulebook; if u down me ur a dirty tunneler" And honestly the game is not in a state that I will give up a chase just to search my ass off for another survivor I can chase. At high rank games against good teams going for 60 seconds without a chase or hook or building pressure by downing someone be it tunneling or not basically means defeat as killer immidiately
So it really depends for me on how the surv team plays .
So if we see an opportunity, that must be handed literally to us by survivors, to take an advantage by tunneling someone out of the game, we shouldn't do it because you think "we shouldn't play killer that way"?
Okay then. Stop using second chance perks. Stop bringing in items. You shouldn't play survivor that way. That's unfun for killers.

The thing is, it is SWF which is easy mode of a 'normal' mode that is solo, not the other way around.
Solo is the real game.
That's true. There was no SWF in the original game. It was added in post-release.
Solo has always been the intended way the game was designed to play. Hence the balance issues presented with it.
-
I mean, I've had multiple survivors tell me to kill myself, or that they were going to kill me and my whole family.
I've literally never gotten more than a petty insult from a killer.
But yes, I suppose calling me an ######### is much worse than telling me to off myself.

I think the devs know what their doing. They didn't buff Twins much (thank god) which we were all crying for. Currently they seem to do quite well once you know how to play them.
Now the idea of a weaker Ruin being basekit I massively disagree. Just randoms are too unpredictable. I also don't want MMR added because of the fact that nobody wants every game they play to be super sweaty.
That first sentence. Overstatement of the decade.
Go back to the Twins launch, and tell me they "knew what they were doing". If they knew what they were doing with that fiasco, we should actually be terrified of the day when they don't know.
-
Both complaints are equally as "scape-goaty" (for lack of a better term) and are largely excuses for failure rather than atonement for your own mistakes.
That being said, solo can be rough sometimes, and so can a good SWF.
But SWF, at large, 99% of the time, are just friends shooting the ######### with each other. They aren't tryharding, and usually the killer is psyching themselves out. Complaints about solo queue are often based around "this survivor didn't play how i wanted them to play, so i died". Which is dumb.

Okay i’m not gonna lie, i’m kinda concerned that hex crowd control will be too powerful. Based off what i’ve seen l it thrives in early game and helps get a lot of pallets down early so it being a hex doesn’t really hurt the perk.
In early game, a good survivor will save pallets and rotate threw different jungle gyms but hex crowd control completely cancels that giving you two options: throw more pallets down early game or have to move around the map while looping and potentially lead the killer to people that are working of gens.
Hex crowd control is going to be amazing on killers with insta down, yes bubba and billy, i’m looking at you.
Windows is the most important thing to use in chase and crowd control completely negates using them effectively which is obviously concerning. Now i’m not saying it will be too powerful but for obvious reasons a lot of people including myself are worried it will be. Take my opinion with a grain of salt though because i also thought for the people was going to be a meta perk but it’s actually fairly balanced.
What are you people thinking? Do you think it will get nerfed?
It's a hex perk. It's supposed to be powerful. It can literally be removed.
-
Dead Hard for distance has no counter, and needs looking at. It requires no skill to perform, and extends a chase for free. Yet, killers are scrutinized for bringing slowdowns.
The killer equivalent of this would be if they could, with the press of a button, walk through a wall once every 40 seconds to save time. Like Nurse, but with no fatigue.

Yall have perks that give you a constant advantage too. Dont even use perks as an excuse. Camping is the equivalent of being bullied as a killer. Annoying and unfun.
That's because they're Hags. That's what her she does. Hag is terrible in chase because of her POV and movement speed.
Honestly, complaining about Hag in 2021. "Nurses that abuse perks". Sounds a lot like survivors who abuse builds full of free second chances. All of which far more powerful than what killers have. As for face camping Bubba? Camping is part of the game.
Also, name one perk that isn't NOED and Corrupt that gives the killer an advantage without them having to earn that advantage.
You keep using the term "unfun". Nobody cares. Fun is subjective. Your fun doesn't translate to my fun. Get over yourself and get better. Or go break something like you said you wanted to do, but don't gatekeep playstyles, bud.

You're not forced to eat a DS. You can walk away, because that survivor is now useless to their team in that locker. If they do ANYTHING to progress their objective, they have no protection.
