All that depend the hour you play. They said in the article you can be an average killer and play with high tier survivor if they play during the slow time.

    Which article??

  • Nothing will change... I will continue to play killer and survivor about 50/50.

I enjoyed the last SBMM test playing both (at rank 1) and look forward to its full-time implementation. I get tired of whooping on some teams as killer and enjoy the more challenging matches, that last longer, that award everyone more bp, and frankly I find way more enjoyable playing both sides. I do find the forum drama and hyperbole fun to watch though - it's a nice break from the usual inane threads.

  • I just played 5 hours and had no issues getting matches as killer or survivor. (PC)

Wait times were between 15 seconds to approx 2 minutes.

  • @botrax said:

With the sbmm coming soon it would be nice to know what is a win for the survivor and killer.

The majority of the player have different expectation of a win so maybe saying what is a win will help with the sbmm that knowing if you sbmm is high or low

There is no definition of what a win is - it is an individual metric. Some survivors believe if they don't escape they lose...some killers think if they don't get a 4k they have lost. To some winning is pipping or safety pipping. To some winning is whether they had fun...or ruined the fun for others.

  • I don't BM as survivor or killer... But let's make one thing clear - BMing is not just something survivors do - killers do it as well.

This past week here are the BMs I have had used against me:

Multiple killers standing in front of me when I am in struggle phase just hitting me with their weapon 5-6-7-8 times.

    A hag who teabagged me

    A pig who teabagged me

    A ghostface who teabagged me

And then of course the typical survivor clicky clicky, teabag at pallet, waiting at the door clicky clicky/teabagging

Childish behavior is not restricted to one side contrary to what forum mains would have one think.

My point is sbmm is dumb because If I ever wanna play against scrubs I can just throw 10 games straight and then bam I'm a god mode player playing against scrubs

Oh you mean how people purposefully depip now...oh wait. There will always be a way to mess with any matchmaking system - at least with this one - those who do not do these inane types of "strats" will have more evenly balanced matches than what we have now.

  • Well - I didn't read your "experience" because I couldn't get past the opening statement. Why would I believe your thoughts on this amazing win streak - if I don't believe you had this amazing win streak?

That's like someone saying I made $2 million from $50 in a week and here's how you can do it too... yeah I am not reading that either.

If the conclusion is faulty - why read what "evidence" created that conclusion.

I play Hag (granted she is like 5th on my list of killers I play) and can easily create a great how-to play/how-to counter thread about her without having to lie about my skill/accomplishments with her.

THIS is why I think these forums need an ignore/block feature.

I got into a game where we did all the gens and everyone died at the last point. I was the last survivor and was on the ground. the killer left me on the ground until I was about to bleed out then picked me up and hooked me. (I was not hooked so ds was not a possibility and I was left for about 3 mins 50 secs way longer than ds last )

Nope... scummy kind of... holding game hostage - Nope.

    Hey guys,

Streamers don't want SBMM because it makes their streams look bad. There's a lot of propaganda from streamers right now telling everyone how horrible SBMM is. My suggestion is to ignore it.

Of course Streamers don't want SBMM and of course your hearing a lot of bad stuff about SBMM because the content creators are where we get info from right now.

Way to generalize an entire group. While I am no as big as Otz or Tofu... I am a Twitch Partner and I think one look at my post history will prove your statement to be a broad generalization that is not accurate. I welcome SBMM. If you want to point out certain streamers - do that - do not group us all together.

Freedom of speech is a principle, just because it also happens to be a constitutional law in the US doesn't make it any less of a principle, maybe learn how to read a sentence and not jump to conclusions before you open you mouth. Embarrassing that someone who claims to know law can't understand basic grammar.

Nice try. It is common rhetoric to throw out the whole "Free Speech" claim wherever people don't like certain rules whether that be at their job, a school, and yes even an online forum. It's a cheap attempt at playing the victim and getting others to rally behind you because your "rights" have been infringed. The person my comment was intended for wasn't implying the principle of free speech - they literally were inferring that this new era of liberalism has taken away their right to freedom of speech. This is such a common rhetoric in the online community to incite divisiveness and pity for the "injured"/silenced party. It used to work - now it is just seen as yet another failed mechanic in manipulative behavior.

You're right...I do know law - basic law that is taught in middle school. I also know psychology and easily identifiable victim mentality.

  • So I have been a rank 1 killer for 4+ years: Am I considered top tier (I mean I am always rank 1 on reset....)? I have never achieved a 50 win streak - I think my biggest win streak was 17 matches. I absolutely loved SBMM. I liked going against survivors who could loop more. I enjoyed going against survivors who didn't hide most the match and always seemed to be working or assisting. I enjoyed the longer matches. Stomping a team isn't fun to me - and frankly I have a lot of matches right now that seem like I am stomping them in 5 mins. I like the challenge. I like having to strategize. I like a match coming down to the end game between getting a 2 or a 4k. And that is why I am glad SBMM is here in a few days.

  • @Leonardo1ita said:

@Peanits In the 5.2.0 developer update, you said that you will take the data from SBMM to do balance changes for killers, using the stats from the top 5% of players.

But....in the recent past you guys said you won't balance this game for the top % of players.

So, what's the truth? What do you mean as "winning"?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/IZ1ZAW93JDQY/tumblr-pbbts7os6t1su5sz1o1-540.gif

"SBMM will also allow us to collect more detailed statistics for our design team to work with (e.g. seeing how a perk or power performs among the top 5% of players). This data will allow us to make more meaningful tweaks and balance decisions in the future." That is what was said: Context matters.

    1. They never mentioned killers
    2. They didn't say the top 5% would be used to balance gameplay overall.

If you are going to quote someone - quote them - do not alter their words to suit your narrative. Reading comprehension matters as does honesty in stating what someone said.

  • No I think this would just result in idiotic behavior by some survivors. A piggyback would solve nothing - if you have time to drag someone away - just get them off the ground.

  • I almost never SWF - and have never 4-man SWFd in nearly 1900 hours as survivor.

As killer (almost 2000 hours now) - I have no issues with SWF - I like challenges and find most SWFs are not much better and no more "toxic" than 4 random solo players. One would think according to these forums that SWFs are death squads etc, but just not my experience and I have been a red rank killer for almost 5 years. I actually enjoyed SBMM as killer because I got matched with better survivors which was more challenging and fun. I am excited for SBMM to be coming (which will be much sooner than people think) because overall it made the game way more enjoyable as killer and survivor imo.

I will say that I find solo survivors to be more obnoxious AFTER a match has ended - they are generally the ones who come to my stream with their SDE and racist/homophobic comments.

  • @Junylar said:

The issue of SWF hasn't been fixed for more than 5 years already, and you expect them to react in a month?

It's in the game, I'm glad Totems are in the game. It helps killers buy some time in this super fast Gen paced game. You almost have to run a Hex in this game to throw off survivors. I don't know why Survivors complain about having to counter totems and do totems. Survivors... You only have to counter 4 perks while we have to counter 16!!!

Do stop complaining and if you don't do totems and get rekt by NOED that's on you.

I've never complained about doing totems - 14 seconds for 1000/1500 bloodpoints and the chance to neuter a perk or perks. At a minimum I always try to do 2 perks per match and of course - if it glows it goes.

I almost never run Hexes as killer.

I find threads like these that infer broad generalizations inane to say the least.

  • I don't think DS needs any changes - as it is right now - it neuters one survivor. It's a good gen/healing regression perk.

  • Yeah I never thought this would resort to killer and survivor mains arguing over the same inane topics ad nauseum....eyeroll.

Oh wait it's the forums where the "mains" go back and forth continuously spewing the same vitriol and hyperbole non-stop.

90% of the posts in this thread are why I wish BHVR would give us the simple option to ignore other posters....

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2464238#Comment_2464238

No you didn't make yourself clear. You stated you have freedom of speech on these forums - which you do not - you never have and you explicitly agreed to the rules when you signed up to post on these forums. This is evidenced by the fact that any comment can be edited/deleted and that is well within their (BHVR) right as a private entity. You have failed to show where you have any freedom to speech here - but have shown willful ignorance to the concept of what it truly means.

You are absolutely right you CAN break the rules, but there CAN be repercussions for such actions because you have no inalienable right to freedom of speech here. If you had such freedom then your comments could not be edited/deleted etc. It is a very simple concept that is rooted in basic American history.

To the OP: I purchase what I want - when I want - I am a completist when it comes to DLCs, but as far as cosmetics - just depends if I play the killer/survivor and if I like/want that cosmetic.

I so miss the days when freedom of speech actually meant something.

I miss the days when people understood what Freedom of Speech truly means. BHVR is not the government - your Freedom of Speech is protected from abuse/silence by the government not private companies. Please go take a basic civics class. Embarrassing that this has to be explained to a supposed adult.

  • @Mineguy said:

We have so many different perks and after you reach rank 8 you only see the same perks over and over again just because they are the meta. This game needs a Perk cooldown mechanism.

You use a Perk and this perk is blocked for the the next 4 rounds.

Restricting what perks can be used is not the solution nor is it needed. I could care less what perks you use whether I am playing killer or survivor (red rank on both 4+ years). I know this will never happen because BHVR would receive hellfire for restricting items which were bought with real world money - people bought survivors like Bill (Unbreakable) & Laurie (Decisive Strike) just for their perks. Aside from that - taking away options from players is a flat out stupid idea.

*I want to note I said the idea is stupid - not the person with the idea.

I got my why answered by others on here and that is that. Why you insist on trying to white knight so hard for the mods is bizarre to me lol

I'm bringing up a percived issue which originally seemed like a malicious treatment of members by mods. After said discussion we came to some conclusion. Which was the point of the discussion. I think calling people names because they want to discuss a serious issue is more like said petulant teenager.

Again - you can think what you want, but just because you think it - doesn't make it reality. Your friend either couldn't be bothered to read the rules or knowingly broke them - reality. There is no discussion to be had since your original post was accusatory & inflammatory - without merit. You chastised the mods for enforcing the rules - but yes please continue to try to come across as someone trying to have a mature discussion.

Just because you perceived maliciousness does not warrant your accusations. A more level headed approach would have been to ask a simple "Why?" but you chose instead to degrade the mods for doing what they are supposed to do. You inferred they were being biased towards hackers which is not productive and overtly hostile to their character. That type of behavior is the epitome of petulant.

Offering specifically used "The Dusty Noose" to go to Glenvale, I play with friends/family and none of us have any of the DLC content, we burn the offerings and it doesn't take us there. We have played with other random people that I believe have the DLC content and it can take us to the maps we cannot get to. We are growing tired of the same maps and are trying different options, but all four of us don't have it but only been once. :\ Not sure what's wrong, same with the Haddonfield offering, we have played it but people claimed it was also disabled but we have been on it with random killers that burn the offering, but overall that's it.

not sure what is going on, but nobody else puts in map offerings or wards that I knew of. We have been avoiding map offerings because we are having issues getting them to even work. X-X

Glenvale is disabled... it has been for a few weeks. Glenvale=Dusty Noose.

unless theres some legal reason not to name hackers i really dont see why we shouldnt name them. As it stands it just looks like the mods are defending them

It really doesn't matter what you THINK - it is the rules. The rules which people agree to when they create their forum account. If you don't like the rules - don't click that you accept them - simple as that. There is a process to report in-game as well as create a support ticket - THAT is how you deal with...and get rid of.. hackers. Instead of acting like a petulant teenager - maybe people should just follow the rules?

if you don't want banned - don't break the rules - it's actually a very simple concept.

And the ones that didn't make a throw away account and fly around the map? 🙄

I have recorded/streamed every match I have played in DBD. Again...4 hackers in 3800 hours - all reported. If I - or my chat - had suspected more - I would have reported them. Like most things on these forums - I think some people's accounts of how many hackers they have encountered are exaggerated. One-upmanship is pretty prevalent on these forums after all.

  • It will not be a licensed character. I am actually hoping for an "old school" horror killer like a Lycan or Vampire.

  • I've encountered 3-4 in the past 3800 hours....

Won't happen unfortunately. Swfs have such an inflated ego that I'm surprised they're heads havent popped. But they don't feel bad making the killers feel miserable. Thats why im against giving free hatch against a swf. You as killer should make them feel hopeless run strong builds and dominate the game using tunneling or camping if you can.

Yes because generalizing a large portion of the player base seems mature. I think I have played SWF (2-3 people; have never been in a 4-man) maybe 100 games in almost 2000 hours as survivor, but according to you we all have inflated egos... cool story bro. No actually we are just friends who wanted to chill out and play some games together. Approximately 30 of those matches were a 2-man SWF because we were doing a charity stream for the family of a real life friend who passed away, but PLEASE generalize SWFs on the forums because hyperbole is always a great way to make your point.

  • Most killers I know do not like pity hooks/kills.

I do not get dominated often by survivors, but when I do - I don't want a pity kill. You earned your escape...so please just go. If they try to give me one.. I will simply drop them at the exit gate and run off to break walls/pallets.

On a similar note - I do not like to be given hatch as survivor.

My job as killer is to give the Entity 4 sacrifices. Why does the last survivor get mad that I won't give hatch? I thought my job was to appease the Entity with a 4k?

Unlike what you are eluding to - they all don't. I rarely get salty survivors when I 4k. I rarely give hatch unless there were like 2 DCs or suicides on hook - then sometimes I will give hatch.

Broad generalizations are only good for creating divisiveness on the forums.

I don't think the maps are free, because even the DBD Saw Chapter says it comes with "The Saw Chapter is a Chapter for Dead by Daylight. It includes a new Killer, a Survivor and a Map."

I have never been able to get a map to work that I don't have the DLC for. We have tried, but it doesn't work because we don't have the chapters. Only way we have been able to successfully play any sort of maps is if someone else has the DLC unlocked for it. That is my personal experience though, so idk.

Only way I was EVER able to play Glenvale was because a friend of mine had the chapter and even they said the reason it doesn't work for me is because I don't have it.

Maps are free and available to any player. You do not need to buy any DLC to play on any map.

The "ban" is 5 minutes - if it is more - then you shouldn't be playing if you are having connectivity issues - period.

That's an obvious assumption, and intuitive given the events you described. However, consider that this is BHVR we are talking about. Netflix exchanges licenses all the times, shows come and go, some series are mainstays and some are not. It highly more likely that BHVRs mismanagement is why the licenses have been revoked, not as a direct result of Netflix or it's shenanigans.

Your assumption is overtly biased - as evidenced by your negative regard for BHVR; whereas others may be assuming, but their assumption is based in logic and precedence.

  • @playhard said:

but RNG totem is so fk terrible, even your best hex spawning beside of generator and survivor. The burn totem event is located on a hill and can look away easily. Why spawn RNG so #########. I make a quick experiment with powerfull 3 Hex Totem : Ruin, Devour Hope, Undying, and Noed and wow. all totem destroyed during mid of the game 😪

As a killer you know where your hexes are - you need to apply pressure to keep the survivors away from your totems. Decent survivors will cleanse totems because 1. Hex perks are powerful and can easily make a match favor the killer (especially Devour Hope) and 2. survivors also will cleanse any dull totems to avoid... NOED.

If you catch a survivor by one of your hexes - tunnel them out of the game. Contrary to what some killer mains will say - most matches you are facing solo survivors who won't be able to say "Hex totem is by the big rock by killer shack." Will the survivor whine because you tunneled them...maybe, but who cares? You have to defend you perk/hex totem. Disclaimer - I do not tunnel, but it is a valid playstyle - just not something I do personally, but hey if that's what you feel you need to do - do it. There is nothing saying you have to "play nice" as killer - your job is to sacrifice survivors... and if that means doing whatever you need to do to defend your perk/hex - who cares what anyone else thinks.

  • @Msterflex said:

If they're polite they'll work gens but not run when I find them otherwise they flat out seek me out to die fast a possible lol

    people really hate this map.

I've never seen happen this much

I absolutely loathe RPD. I generally just accept that I will not escape on this map - I have escaped ONCE since it's release. I generally try to do gens etc - but if/when I am caught/hooked unless someone is real close by - I just attempt to escape/4% then give up when struggle hits. I would rather the other survivors just stay on gens for 30 seconds than try to waste time trying to get to me.

I think the map looks amazing, but I also don't think it should have ever been released as is for DBD. I do know that my friends who are Ghostface, Nurse, Myers, and Wraith mains LOVE this map. This map has the highest rate of DCs in my tracking for the past 30 days regardless whether I am killer or survivor... and I can guarantee BHVR knows this to be true with their own data.

  • While it may seem like survivors are gen rushing - they are probably just doing gens and avoiding chases. My advice:

Level up killers with gen control perks:

    Oppression

    Corrupt Intervention

    Pop Goes The Weasel

    Surge

Level up killers with aura reading perks:

    BBQ & Chili

    Tinkerer

    Rancor

    A Nurse's Calling

    Bitter Murmur (General perk)

    Discordance

    Eruption

    I'm All Ears

The key to slowing down generators are regression perks and sensory/aura perks - If you have knowledge on their whereabouts you can then pressure the survivors off of generators. My general build on killers is usually something like: BBQ, Tinkerer, Nurse's, and Pop Goes the Weasel. Obviously I do switch it up, but overall that is a decent build which will let you see survivors healing, see auras when you hook, see when gens are at 70%, and allow you to regress gens after hooking someone. It can be hard playing killer with limited perks, but try to use what you can to focus on knowing where survivors are and trying to affect generator progress as much as possible. That is the best advice I can give ya. Make sure you also pay attention to the Shrine of Secrets which changes every Tuesday evening - you may be able to avoid leveling certain killers if their perk(s) appear in the Shrine - Every week it is 2 new survivor and 2 new killer perks that you can use your iri shards to unlock.

  • Ranks are disappearing VERY soon so this is kind of a null topic.

  • As a 50/50 player - No.

It was already tried and was abused as described above. There is nothing wrong with camping (Not something I do as killer). Camping is not a guarantee kill for survivors who have an inkling on how to deal with it. Worst case - they get 1 kill while the rest of the team does gens and gets out.

No...theres actually survivors on this forum that would like Bot killers in their matches.

So because a few do it.. then everyone must want it and thus it is ok?? Dude grow up.

Some killers have literally asked for bot survivors as well - does that mean all want them?? Ugh - I swear the ability to use logic on these forums is almost non-existent in some posters. These inane exaggerations do not prove anything - except that people have no idea how to actually discuss topics.

BHVR please add a frickin ignore button already to the forums so those of us who actually want to discuss topics in a rational manner can without all the idiocy and hyperbole.

Hm, so we need Killers who 2 hook every survivor and let them escape afterwards. BHVR should really add killer bots in pub matches so survivors would never complain again. I dont know why they havent done it yet. PvE fits this game so much better than PvP imo. Cause there would be no reason to insult or complain about the opponent if its a stupid bot.

Except no one is saying that. You are making inane assumptions/proclamations. Would a killer like a game if every survivor just afk'd? I don't think so.. at least I know I would be irritated af. The point is that AFK killers almost always result in either barely safety piping or at higher ranks - de-pipping because there are 2 emblems that get nothing for that match. Seriously.. instead of being all "boo hoo survivors this and that" think of it from a logical and unbiased point of view...if you can.

  • As you can see - per usual - the mains have their biased "opinions".

Here's my thought on "meta" perks - all of them are fine to use. Look if it is in the game - it's fair to use.

ANY Perks (either side) - Check

    Brand New Part - Check

    Iri Addons - Check

    Map Offerings - Check

    Tunneling - Check

    Holding W - Check

    Camping - Check

    Hatch - Check

    Etc Etc Etc....

These forums are fraught with people who constantly seek validation for the way THEY play, but then one look at their post history or even in the thread 3 spots down - they are bashing others for the way THEY play. Hypocrites. As a 50/50 player - I play how I want and I have no issues with the way others play. I have been rank 1 (Killer & Survivor) for 4+ years and let me tell you two perks I have never used:

Dead Hard & NOED - I think DH is crap of an exhaustion perk and I LOVE when survivors use it when I play killer - I call it Fail Hard. NOED - Gross just feels scummy - If I can't get kills before end game - I don't deserve them simply because of a hidden hex perk. BUT if you want to use them - more power to you.

People say "But X needs changed it is too strong/unfair/etc" - That's great - state your opinion - try to get it changed BUT you cannot fault someone for using it as is in the game. You can't fault people for using anything that is in the game to their advantage - whether it's a perk, item, addon, strategy, mechanic, etc. It's one thing to discuss things which you think need changed/nerfed/boosted, but on these forums it generally degrades into personal attacks of people who utilize these things. Imagine if these forums were filled with actual discussions instead of all the hyperbole and vitriol. I know it won't happen, but one can hope. I have been hoping for an ignore/block feature on the forums for years and I doubt that will happen either... but one can hope.

Anyways - let the hypocrisy continue.

    For the record:

My general survivor build: Alert, Borrowed Time, Lithe, and either Soul Guard/Inner Strength

My general killer build: Corrupt, Tinkerer, BBQ, and either Sloppy/Thanatophobia/Pop (Doctor, Pig, and Huntress main)

  • Yes - but I refuse to use it because it feels super scummy.

  • Play how you want... not sure why killers or survivors feel they need validation for how they play from people on the forums. If it is not against the rules...do it.

I don't tunnel or camp, but hey - you paid for the game so play how you want. Use whatever perks you want.

BUT don't be a hypocrite when survivors teabag, clicky clicky clicky, use keys, use "meta" perks, etc. Either everything in game is fair use... or you're being hypocritical. I all too often see "mains" complain about one strategy/action from the other side while asking for others to justify their actions... survivor mains will complain about tunneling for example - it's a valid strat... killer mains complain about survivors holding w - it's a valid strat. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it shouldn't be done/used etc. I'm not saying YOU do.. just get tired of these "validate me" posts and then seeing the person complaining about the way others play.

Harassing people after the game is a bad move, I agree.

Harassing streamers on their stream -- is great for streamers. It creates Drama. Everyone loves drama!

Uhh no - some of us loathe drama and try to keep our streams and community positive and drama free. I have never tunneled or camped but that doesn't stop some salty survivors from coming in and screaming I tunneled or camped them - when in reality I wasn't camping but rather chasing their idiot teammate who thought engaging in a chase around the hook was a good idea. I had to create a completely different forum account because of the drama forum members would cause on my stream - and by drama I mean just come in and say racist and homophobic stuff every stream. So please - learn not to make broad generalizations about people - they are generally not fair or based in reality.

I don't mind survivors or killers coming to my streams and stating their opinion - let me make that clear. Stating your opinion is vastly different than ranting like an uneducated bigoted fool though. Heck some of my favorite followers are people I have killed or who have killed me.
