The survivor queue is long because when you play Killer you either lose and get told you suck, or win and get told you suck. Oh and the gameplay is roughly 4x more stressful, on top of that.
Although the tome might be hurting the queue times a bit to be honest, just because more people are coming on for the challenges. I've been playing a bit of DBD recently and I'm literally only coming on because I want to unlock the Oni skin, and if I just want to grind out XP to get rift shards, I might as well play survivor which takes less mental strain.
-
Please understand that the pip system is broken so if you are playing for rank it will get frustrating.
E.g. to get the top medal for gen defense you need to basically defend the first gen for something like 4 minutes. Against a co-ordinated skilled team this is just impossible. You will lose a gen in your first chase or two. To get the top chaser medal you will need to win lots of chases and get close to the max hooks (12), against a good team, this is usually not possible either, you'll have to slug people, some people will die on their 2nd or even 1st hook. Yet the game still requires you to do more to pip.
My advice is just to not care about the ranking system. Eventually you will get good enough to consistently safety pip in all games, even hard ones, and then the rare games survivors allow you to get +1 or +2 you can progress in rank.
Losing rank was one of the main things which would stress me out and add insult to injury after "losing" game with many hooks and no kills, or winning a game with 4 kills but only a few hooks.
-
I've been keen to try Twins, but I wasn't sure if I should pick them up or not, as usually when I play against them, I don't really enjoy the game.
However, since I first tried Spirit, I started enjoying playing against Spirit players more, and have more respect for a good play by a Spirit (especially if they're running a weaker build). Since I started playing Demo, I don't think I've been hit by a shred. The list goes on.
So I probably feel I need to try Twins, if only to improve my skills countering them.
Also the map control does look pretty nice against SWFs etc. Also I'm sure after playing them at red ranks I'll get crushed often and have a new found respect for Twins players.

I feel like keys should only be something that appears in a chest that round at the same rate the spawn now. You're lucky to have one, makes it more exciting. It isn't something you can escape with and not something that can be unlocked in the web. Also green keys are useless. 😆
I can't support your use of Bubba, friend playing against him is just no fun with the constant insta-downs, lol.
I myself I play both sides and I definitely get more toxic messages from survivors than I do killers and I am better at survivor. 🤷 Survivors will send me more messages when I am also a survivor, so...
Are you saying the key rate spawn is OK? You are right, it doesn't happen too often, and it probably was very exciting for the survivors who escaped... I was even prepared to not get salty about it in the chat, and I opened up the chat with a gg. I don't even think I got a gg back before the survivors started justifying their key escape, and then criticizing me for staying near a hook when there were scratch marks in the area. They called a Blight, with something like 7 hooks (would have finished on at least 9), a camper. It's that entitled attitude that annoyed me.
Also, yeah me then playing in a toxic manner as Bubba was not a good solution, as then I'm punishing totally different people. However Bubba and his insta-down itself is not toxic, he is a relatively easy Killer to loop.
Your final point, yes as Killer I get toxicity all the time, as survivor I see other survivors either being toxic to the Killer (I ALWAYS call them out on it), or survivors being toxic to me and other survivors (why didn't you save, etc.).
-
Was just key escaped myself. It's funny cause I've been playing other games this week, and whenever I come on DBD it's just a few games of survivor as I want to gain some XP to keep progressing on the rift (I want the Oni skin). Played my first killer game in a while and it's a pretty hard fought game against a good team, got them 3-genned and then 2 escape via key...
-
Iri Head Huntress. They can't open the hatch when they're all dead at 5 gens.
-
It's funny, I literally came onto this forum just now as I wanted to make a thread about why I was just reminded why Killer isn't fun. Seeing as someone else made a thread, I'll just vent here.
I was playing Blight on suffocation pit, the survivors seemed decent enough, I had to slug a little, for my first hook I stayed in the area since I had a slug there, and saw scratch marks, so someone was nearby. I also re-hooked a Jake at one point because he was unhooked and his rescuer did not make themselves known to me.
Anyway, it got to 1 gen left and I killed the Jake, hooked another person. Then 2 survivors who looted a key left.
Not wanting an argument I just said "gg" and "nerf keys". The guy said "it's fair because we did 4 gens".
I said not at all, because they had 3-genned themselves so there was no way I wasn't getting a 3/4k at this point. At this point one of them said "well we wouldn't play" (that's survivor logic for you there, we will just give up and therefore its void?).
Then the guy started saying "you camped the first hook" (I literally saw scratch marks, I would have took my 2nd hook and went to another gen). Then he starts saying I was slugging. I said slugging is necessary to win as a Killer, and he said "NO LOL". At this point I just withdrew my GG and moved on.
It just annoyed me though that not only these survivors thought the key escape was fair, but they then go and criticize my tactics I used?
At this point I just went and played Bubba and camped 2 people to death and got a 4k on Lerys, after a while you get sick of being accused of things so you just do them, why not, you get moaned at anyway.
Wow, big rant. Sorry.
-
Why not, it takes Killer's 2 seconds to get another game anyway so might as well. If they also have a torch then they're probably going to just try and "juice" you all game

From my understanding, gen rushing is when a coordinated team uses everything at their disposal to complete gens as quickly and efficiently as possible. Perks, toolboxes etc.
I just played a game against a legion who did a terrible job at pressuring gens, using her power like 3 times the whole game. Before we knew it, the gates were in like 5 minutes even though everyone was on a different gen. As you can expect, she camped the first person she downed and left with two kills. She then accused us of gen rushing despite the fact we were NOT a coordinated team. I pointed out how she didn't even use her power and how we all on diff gens. Said it didn't matter cause the map was #########. In her eyes, we gen rushed but I say she suck at pressuring gens. Her power is literally ment to get people off gens, making them waste time mending and healing.
"I pointed out how she didn't even use her power and how we all on diff gens"
It's quicker when the team rushes different gens than if they focus single gens, as you add extra people to a gen, it gets repaired quicker, but its not at a 2x rate for 2 people, 3x rate for 3 people, it drops off a bit each time.
Therefore it's quicker when you have multiple people concurrently on different gens. Just pointing that out as your point was that you were on different gens means you weren't rushing.

I posted a thread a couple of months back which was similar, mine was a teabag tier list

@Sluzzy can you just give up already and play a few games of Killer before you continue posting here? Also please play above rank 15, thanks.
"This will create pressure on the killer to guard totems, gens, and hook survivors"
The Killer already has pressure to do ALL of these things to win against a half decent team.
-
When you have a team that is attempting aggressive saves to the point of not touching gens and just floating around to flash/pallet/DS stun you then bleeding them out is a valid strategy

No one thinks tunneling (true tunneling) is fair
Just like some survivors being good enough on certain map setups to survive a single chase for 3 to 5 gens is not really fair
You just need to get good enough at chases to deter the Killer to commit to an early chase on you. But the risk of getting too good is that the Killer will just then hook camp you for wasting their time 😜

How would he hit people?
Well I guess he couldn't use his speed boost, but he can still M1 people regularly, you'd just have to catch people unawares. I think this would only work on indoor maps where you can break line of sight.
How about, an add-on, you can use your power, but whenever you are in your power, this TR effect is active?
Just having a perk which does it seems crazy as it removes all warning which survivors heavily rely on. Everyone would have to run spine chill, and the terror radius would just be ignored.

Yeah or like mid level so it sounds like they are at around 18 metres (for s 32 metre TR killer) whenever you're in their TR
Ooof, that would be strong.
Pretty terrifying to play against too.
How about, a Wraith add on which does this, but he can't use his ability?

Sorry I meant it so it doesn't change based on distance
So the survivor has the max heartbeat sound even when they are at the very edge of the terror radius?
-
@JPA said:
Could you clarify what you mean by "non-directional"
I'd already consider the terror radius to be non-directional, as you hear the terror radius from whichever direction the Killer approaches from.
I mean, you hear the same terror radius, regardless of which direction they come from, I think it's the same sound right

not really, this game is heavily balanced for the killer side of things LUL also, i dont main survivor - i main Plague, cause most randos are useless in this game rn with how things are currently
If the game is heavily balanced towards Killers, then why is it widely agreed that only 2 Killers are viable in high level play?
-
Hard NO to survivors having 5 perks. If anything they could have 3 and it would still be fair (that's 4 perks against 12 potential survivor perks in play)
-
Actually the dead hard idea is great, imagine if you could do the Demogorgons shred, but he doesn't attack immediately after, so you could use it to gain distance, bait their dead hard, and then lunge
-
Like you say, the tricksters ability is basically shurikens. With the right cosmetic and weapon skin he's basically a Ninja

If they’ve downed each player at least once within the first few minutes, I think it’s probably safe to let up a little. Continuing to go hard against players that obviously don’t have a chance is literally overkill. I think these players have clear emotional problems that have nothing to do with the video game.
Quite often though someone might have already DC'd, someones been abandoned on a hook and is on stage 2 and about to let go, and everyone else you bump into can loop for about 2 seconds and you have to stop chasing them and just stare at them within hitting range.
Sometimes it feels the damage of the matchmaking system has already been done, and you just want to move on to the next one.
But yeah sure if you're at 5 gens and everyone is injured and multiple downs, maybe you can let up a bit, if only to avoid DC's. I've had a few situations though where I had the game in my hand, let up a little, and ended up losing and then go through the whole exit gate teabagging. It's a tightrope lol.

There is this one spot on dead dawg where fire and the random environment effects sound almost exactly like the totem bones breaking, it's kind of annoying

Yeah I went back to PH after talking about him here yesterday for a couple games and I came across the most boosted red and purple rank survivors I've ever seen.
The claud that watched one too many juke montages, a dwight that just did gens in my face, every hook he had was a grab, I never even got to chase him. The Ace had some of the worst dead hards I've ever seen and the Yui insta dropped every pallet she saw no matter how much distance she had on me.
It's almost shocking when you come across baby survivors after many games of playing difficult teams. There was this one Claud I felt so bad for after pulling her off 2 gens I had to shepherd her to the hatch but I don't think she knew what a hatch was and bled out on the floor on top of it. 😥

It isn’t bad to try hard. I think the worst is dealing with killers and survivors that already have the skillz to pay the billz but then choose add-ons that make them completely OP and unfun to where you quickly decide that there isn’t even a point in playing beyond first hook. Rank 1 Huntresses with iri hatchets or Wraiths with the addon to see auras while cloaked, for instance. And then piling on ruin and tinkerer so that not even one gen gets fixed. It wouldn’t be so bad if the killer exhibits some form of playfulness but most are so damn serious about it all.
I can't blame any Killer for going hard. You don't know if you are facing a tough team until it's too late and you lose 3 gens.

I honestly think MMR has been turned on in secret because whenever I play Wraith or Plague I get the sweatiest matches possible but when i take time to practice Hag i get survivors that are more at the same level I am on Hag rather than the level I'm on as wraith and plague.
Same.
I was playing Blight and only Blight for a few days solid, every game I play as him now is pretty tough and usually almost all red ranks (I'm purple rank 7).
I was cycling back through other Killers I haven't played in a short while such as Oni and Legion, and it was mostly players who can loop for 10 seconds max and dead hard in to walls.
-
If I play against a team who are a SWF and all happen to be running the same build (e.g. Decisive Strike, Dead Hard, Iron Will, BT), then yes I'd say that is sweaty. Similarly if I was a survivor and played a Spirit who had Ruin, Undying, Tinkerer, Surveillance (or something similar), then I'd say that is also sweaty. In this case sweaty just means trying hard to win.
I don't think sweaty-ness is a problem in and of itself. People will typically use "sweaty" as an insult when they've been beaten, so it makes a nice excuse, I lost because I wasn't sweating as much as that person, or I lost because I didn't want to win as much as they did.
It becomes a problem (to me), when the sweaty person is ALSO being a bad winner or loser, and being toxic on top of that (e.g. aforementioned SWF saying "GG EZ" when they win with their sweaty builds against an unprepared or under-ranked Killer). Or just generally raging and being salty when they lose, despite having the build/offerings to have a good chance of winning.

I really dont understand the devs sometimes. There are many problems that needs to be improved. I mean DBD is a really good game and it can be even better but things process really slow. They even just updated the Wraith which increased his speed. I hope they will fix them soon. I play both the killer and survivor and I can say that killer is really disadvantage at the matches.
Unfortunately, a large part of a Huntresses skillset is knowing which items you can inexplicably throw hatchets through, and which you can't
-
I think these were recently re-worked end of last year, so I doubt they'll be in the developers sights for a while.
It preceded my time playing this game, but I also heard that they used to be better for Huntress pre-rework too :(
-
the best way to counter huntress is to not be hit by her hatchets or her axe

Top tip: stop caring about rank, it doesn't mean anything

That is actually a very interesting idea, it would be situational since he would have to have something to jump up on and would cause bugs. Imagine this on Haddonfield, it would help so much. Right now, I am unsure if this would be good to add or not, I can already think of loads of exploits he could do on autohaven.
you mean like this?
-
Would be fun.
He can already jump "up" stairs, which makes no sense.
I can't see BHVR releasing this without it being too glitchy though and Demo would be able to jump out the maps or something.
Although I guess we already have a similar ability with Victor, so maybe it's possible.

killer want survivor to be nerfed (even if justified)
this in turn makes playing not in SWF even Harder and even more unbalanced for them, so in the end solo player either quit the game or become part of a SWF.
And some killer are seriously wondering why there so many SWF or even Some Toxic SWF.
Solo Survivor have to deal with other survivor ( who are mostly useless) Killer ( who can easily ruin the experience for a person when they get mad) and Devs ( who keeps nerfing solo survivors even more than SWF with their changes).
So if some of them get in a SWF group and can get "revenge" for everything they had to deal with up to this point ofc they would do this because this would just be the justice they deserve.
If solo is hard because of designs of the game, or because of nerfs, why do you think toxic swf "revenge" is justified?
-
I've been getting constant 4Ks even with reasonably meme builds which made me think everyone was still on the PTB and I'm mainly playing console players (I'm on Windows Store/PC)
Or it could be an MMR thing as I'm also doing random killers lately
-
Did you go in the basement?
-
If the survivors haven't put a dent in the gens before the Killer starts snowballing then it can be tough to win for the survivors (if the Killer is good).
Like as a Killer, if you don't slug and hook early against a good team you're also unlikely to win.
Just comes down to poor game design
-

im so tired of people saying dead hard is op because it extends chases.... like thats literally the entire point of the perk. and if you think thats op then by that same logic are we going to call insta down killer perks op since they cut chases short? of course not that would be ridiculous. so please for the love of god stop complaining about dead hard its fine the way it is.
Not sure if you can straight up compare it to all insta-down perks, as most of them have a condition to activate (some less reliable than others) are restricted to a timer and/or have a cooldown, making them limited in effectiveness, and providing opportunity to counterplay. If 4 survivors are using Dead Hard it's a bigger problem than if 1 Killer can get off an insta-down every couple of minutes.

No you can open an exit gate as long as another exit gate hasn't been opened or you didn't close the hatch.

On it's own I'd say Deliverance is better, Head On needs a build to be good IMO (e.g. Quick and Quiet, Head On, DS) and it's a bit more memey
-
I disagree Slinger is necessarily harder than the Huntress. Sure you have less room for error, but he is much harder to juke and bait than the Huntress, since she has a long windup. I've never actually played Slinger though so maybe my opinion is worth nothing on the matter.
