I'm cool with it. The only times I use a mori is for a daily and even then don't kill everyone with it. I even got the Blood on Your Face achievement the same time I did the Evil Within achievement for Meyers.
My only two concerns with the change are:
1. The fact that they didn't hold off the nerf until keys got reworked. Now when keys do get touched there'll be massive amounts of people trying to use up their keys and many more killers playing extra sweaty, dodging lobbies all together, or just not playing killer until keys are changed leading to even longer queue times for Survivor.
2. They also ended up nerfing Devour Hope with this change, a perk that has the distance from the unhook condition in top of number of hook requirements but also can be destroyed.

DCs count as kills on the emblems. It used to not, but it should now. I know there’s also a bug with the Devout emblem recently, as evidenced by the Adept Twins threads in General.
Yeah, I made one of the adept twins threads. I got my plague adept a couple months ago, so if they fixed it for emblems it was recently. I'm still suspect in that though since DCs give bonus points for Brutality and not Sacrifice.

Playing all these extra matches for the “kill 20” challenge cuz they DC before final hook. No camp. No tunnel. Billy. Almost entirely M1 cuz I’m drawing all the indoor maps today.
I've been asking for this since the first Tome. Also being denied an Adept achievement after 9 hooks when someone DCs so there's no way to get Iri Devout is a problem and what took me 15 games in a row trying to get Plague Adept
-
To me it seems like his hotbox for latching on is bigger than for actually downing. I've had pounces that look like they shouldn't hit but latches and ones that look like they should hit and the injured Survivor just keeps running away.

Nah, I'm calling Trapper weak but able to advance easier for me than with the strong killer I usually play lol

You do realize that hag is just as strong as nurse right?
I'm well aware, I'm saying for me I was hard to maintain high 2 and rank 1 with her because I would stomp that hard with her but switching to a low/mid tier killer, Trapper, is what put me at 1 and kept me in that area. I can maintain as Hag, just not advance as easily

I want it to be this

As a Hag main I was never able to get up to rank 1 because I either stomped so hard I safety pipped or failed so badly I depipped but then when grinding Trapper achievements I hit rank 1 and maintained for a little while until I moved on to another killers achievements because most bad games I'd still safety pip with him.

Nah. The issues have been in the game since it came out. But it's only now they decide to nerf mori's in a hotfix, with little to no warning? Instant medkits were spammed for a month solid prior to the nerf, because it was announced.
Now, I have seen more keys in the span of one night than I usually do in a week. Tons of people are running object of obsession with no fear. It's a travesty.
I will still keep playing the game, but not as a weak killer. You get the Spirit or Nurse from me until they fix keys.
Think if it this way, if OoO is used a lot more and gets a spike in escapes maybe Mr. Stats will finally take player concerns over it seriously and we'll see a nerf of it soon enough lol

Your rank means nothing, the ranks you face mean everything.
It doesn't technically give you more pips, but cheap easy kills would make dbd algorithm misjudge your personal skill.
Also, keys are used wrong as survivors. The wedding ring is nice, but keys are meant to replace bond.
I'm not AFRAID of keys, because I know how to pressure gens.
Nice try but this game doesn't have mmr or an algorithm that gauges skills, kills, escapes, or hours played when match making implemented at this time. Literally rank means nothing until more people are willing to play killer. The way it works now is you ready up as a rank 1 solo Survivor, the game looks for other rank 1 Survivors to match you with but it can't find any so it broadens the search for rank 5-1 Survivors. Now it's found a team but needs to find a killer except there's no killers available at rank 5-1 so it broadens that search and finds a killer at rank 13. The current mm system looks for players of a similar rank and the longer it looks the wider a net it casts out.

As @JHondo suggests, play both sides. It'll make you better overall. If you've not played Survivor any, then as a Killer, you won't have much (or any) experience and knowledge of Survivor perks or play strategies, which, if you did, you can exploit and use against them to be a better Killer. The same goes for playing as Survivor to play against a variety of Killers (maybe even your preferred one) and learn how they play, and how you (as a Survivor) need to play against them, which exposes various weaknesses and strengths that you'll carry with you when you switch back to Killer. It's definitely beneficial.
It also really helps with the us vs them mentality. Yes I am still slightly biased towards killer but by playing both sides I can identify and understand more balance issues from all angles and have a different perspective on things . Mains tend to think it's "if they adjust x how will it effect y" when in actuality it's "if they adjust x how will it effect y, z, and w"
-
Bait is making a post with the intent to rile up the forums but people are saying poor bait because most bait at least tries to hide it's bias/provide arguments other than "if us then them" arguments.
To your actual point, I've been playing for a little over a year and the way balance in DbD works is like a pendulum, it swings to one side and hovers there for a second before swinging back to the other. Just be patient the pendulum will swing back.
One great way to help alleviate the stress of "they're nerfing my side" is to not have a side. Play both roles equally and you'll learn more and more to help you no matter which side you play. For me playing Killer made me a better Survivor and vice versa.
-
Since I hardly use Mori's anyway this doesn't change anything for me other than the likely hood that more keys will be in play until those are reworked/nerfed.
The biggest positive of this hotfix is that the twins are now playable as they theoretically should be so I can work on grinding out their adept and power achievements finally lol
-
Considering the representation will most likely be a throw away line in the lore about "his boyfriend" or "her girlfriend" I don't understand what all the fuss is about. As a gay man myself I don't really care either way but totally understand people want representation. I just hope it's not a stereotype like a butch lesbian, an effeminate twink, or for a trans person either a male or female character model simply dressed as the opposite gender.

sorry for only 3 but I don't usually screenshot endscreens with bnps on them, but look 3 bnps and 4 toolboxes with 24 charges at 200% speed, 16 charges at 170% speed, 44 charges at 150% speed
that's 75% of gens worth of bnps and 84 seconds of gens of toolboxes at varying speeds, good thing I had pop to counter them
I don't think they understand that you can also save the BNP to quickly finish crucial gens and that they don't need to be used immediately at the beginning of a match and risk being regressed.

They have stated before release that this chapter is unfinished and a hotfix is due soon, it is OPTIONAL to buy this chapter. People don’t have the right to complain because they knew what they were walking into.
Adding on to your point, people buying a buggy chapter isn't gonna "encourage BHVR to release more buggy, unfinished chapters" because they know it's bad for game health and if this game dies before they can get something else established their company dies along with all the jobs held by those working there.

Lo pro chains and a map where a lot of pallets require Survivors to run in a straight line away from it. At least that's how I got it done.
-
Another interesting experiment would be to turn off the aim dressing for a weekend and see how it changes hits and get feedback on how it looks and feels to play without.
A no chase music weekend would be really interesting to gague how much it effects both sides.

I play on PC with a controller, I'll have to check it out this weekend and see if it's a thing that anyone with a controller can do or just an odd console thing.

I have to agree that is way harder to Adept a Killer than it is a Survivor. They just have to get out alive using their basic Perks. The Killer has to get a 4K using only the basic Perks. I wish I'd done these guys when I was playing back in the Potato Ranks. It is nearly impossible now that I only fight Red Ranks. Imagine trying to take on a squad of Red Rank Survivors with only Dying Light, Save the Best for Last, and Play With Your Food. It suffices to say I haven't managed it yet.
Heck, Survivors get the odd game with Santa Killers who don't interact with them and just let them do all the Generators and get out. Instant Adept. :) I've yet to run into a group of Survivors that line up dutifully and let me dispatch them. I would find that boring, of course, and wouldn't want to do that, but it is probably the only way I'll Adept some of these guys now without purposely holding myself back so I drop back down through the Ranks. And let's be honest, I don't approve of that. I think it is pathetic.
So that leaves me stuck and unable to Adept shy of a miracle. I have to agree with the original Poster that for Killers, if you want it to be comparable to how it easy it is for Survivors, is simply require a 4K with that Killer, and no Perk limitations, or for Pete's sake, at least least us bring one non-basic in our 4th Slot.
I had to hold myself back for a few (Meyers, Plague, Death Slinger, Nurse, and Blight) Before the DC penalty was put back in place I spent a day just DCing late game to depip and told anyone in post game on PC "Sorry for the loss of escape points but I'm DCing for adepts" most were pretty cool about it and showed sympathy while others just didn't say anything.
Probably gonna have to hold back with the Twins too given how the devout Emblem is bugged for them, how Victor doesn't count for chases, and how slug heavy they need to be to do pretty much anything against high ranks.

I really wish they would incentivise playing whichever side is lacking players. They brought it up on a survey a few months back, what people would like as a reward for playing Killer if Survivor has an excess of players and queues are long or playing Survivor if there's a plethora of Killer players or if people would even be interested in something like that.
Personally a bonus or just a notification that "Hey there's a lot of people playing Survivor right now so expect long queues and jank match making, may we suggest playing killer this evening?" would be great additions to the game.

Basically I think there's a Twitch rule that prohibits depicting violence against children. Therefore Behaviour really, REALLY doesn't want to have to deal with problems on Twitch and other platforms from people mistaking Victor for a child since he honestly looks like a feral carnivorous monstrous baby from hell. That's why they're being extremely careful to emphasize Victor isn't a child and are trying to push to make sure streamers and such aren't calling him a baby, even in jest. They don't want even the implication that he's a child to be taken seriously.
I don't want to kick the devs when they're down, so to speak, but to be honest this is a problem of Behavior's own making to some degree. They could have made a killer that mechanically controls two avatars look like anything they wanted (e.g. A hunter and a wolf, a ventriloquist and an animated dummy, etc) but they went with something resembling a baby carried around by a peasant. Not much they can do about it now unfortunately, this horse is long out the barn and they're not going to redo all the lore and animations just to stop people making memes and stupid comments. I feel a little bad for them but I'm also a bit surprised they apparently didn't see these memes and jokes coming. Live and learn I guess. 🤷♂️
Oh! The Ventriloquist would have been such a cooler concept than The Twins from a design perspective too, the dummy could sit on their shoulder and cosmetics could actually affect both instead of just changing Charlotte and keeping Victor looking the same no matter what the cosmetic is.

This would also explain why Overwatch is in such a bad spot. Both Dead By Daylight and Overwatch are focusing too much on balance and not what is fun. It's why the ultra-rare addons have been garbage recently: they're afraid of making something too powerful. It's like Demo. He's not strong at all, but everyone likes him cuz he's fun. Fun > balance, 100% of the time. A video game is supposed to be fun, not balanced.
Agree and disagree, what's fun for one side: Using DS aggressively or double stunning with DS or Pallets into Head On is incredibly frustrating for the other side, same can be said about Mori's or the "OP" killers like Spirit and Freddy. So in cases like that balance is necessary. Yes fun is ultimately more important but when things don't have consistent counter play they need to be balanced to create fun for both sides.
-
Some don't have to take you out of the game, like cleanse 20 totems, you can do that over the course of 20 games by just cleansing 1 a game, or Sabo X number of hooks, just run a breakout or Sabo build or take a tool box and break a couple when you're traveling to the next gen or after you get a rescue.
I do agree that a lot of the master challenges can be bad in taking you out of the game. Like throwing a match by just going for chainsaw hits as Billy or the infamous 6 Feet Under and Dwight the Brave challenges.

As a rank 1 nurse, hag, huntress and spirit main, i use bbq, third seal, franklins, and MYC.
I've played around with MYC but I do the instant teleport hits so I usually don't get a lot of value from it whereas Monitor helps me get the drop on em and I'm totally addicted to it. When I don't know what to put on for the 4th perk for most killers I usually just throw on Monitor unless I'm using a large TR build or playing as Doc lol

I think corrupt intervention is actually her best perk. Second best is probably sloppy butcher. Third monitor + abuse. I switch up the 4th perk a lot but I almost never take off those 3.
Just conceding all the gens across the map is crippling, because then you are 100% banking on your 3 gen strat. With Corrupt you usually only lose 1 gen or 0 while you get your entire network down instead of 2-3, and forcing people into the web early is a good thing since you can start getting the sloppy butcher hits in.
I pretty much always use faster setting + extended teleportation range; or I do silent traps + extended teleporting range. The faster trap setting is amazing for quickly getting a bunch of traps out, and helps mid-chase. It's easy to lock down the first 3 gens then start harassing people at the 4th which survivors will probably be working on.
When playing Hag the only time I worry about gens is if they're all done and I need to focus on gates. My games usually don't get to the point I need to even consider a three gen strat though.
As a red rank Hag main my build is, Franklin's, Third Seal, BBQ, and Monitor. Franklin's will sometimes be a wasted slot but she doesn't even need perks imo. Third Seal is amazingly effective, BBQ for the BPs and occasionally to help me find the last person when I'm running low on active traps, Franklin's to help avoid the flashlights cucking her power, and Monitor because it gives her a tiny tiny radius. For add-ons I use teleport distance and setting speed add-ons. Distance so I can make a bigger "web" aka trap jungle gyms and paths as opposed to playing gen defense Hag. Setting speed so I can use them a little more effectively when I do wind up in chases.
When trapping I never bother with gens unless they happen to be in the jungle gym or shack I'm locking down. I trap gyms, strong windows, strong structures, and common paths Survivors run. I usually try to save a trap or two for those times I'm forced to chase and have to lock down a loop to zone them back to where I've placed things already.
I do respect everyone has their own play style and preferred perks but I've noticed the more I use Corrupt with my play style the more garbage it is for me on Hag because it throws me into chases faster which is good for Oni, Pig, and other killers that need those first hits or downs quickly to get better use of their power but the way I play Hag I need to set up without them knowing which loops/paths I'm trapping.
I also play on PC with a controller so spamming my teleport button is just as effective as scroll wheel Hag on M+Kb.

Interesting, I dislike running Corrupt Intervention on Hag. I let them pop a gen or two far away while I make sure anyone who invades my territory is sure to die.
I don't like corrupt on her or trapper because it gives less setup time as it forces Survivors closer to you early game. With Hag especially you want to avoid chases and set up in pathways and loops to get faster downs. Yeah I use her traps in chases but would much rather lock down jungle gyms and other strong structures first so I don't have to rely on chase traps only.

That's an excellend point about crushing victor after he downs a survivor. I'm facepalming at missing that detail. Honestly this post was more based around the camping that's currently live. I'm all for the killer being able to setup an idle off gens with victor. I seriously am all for it. Pressure is great. I was just hoping the the pounce cancel was so quick given it is 150%. If it doesn't change; I will live. Many more killers with doomed if you do doomed if you don't in their kits.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1792539#Comment_1792539
Yes victor cannot hook survivors. Point was leaving Charlotte as a ward at the hook and controlling victor. Switching back to Charlotte as soon as you are notified of the save. There is no borrowed time and a very small amount of time to gain distance from charlotte.
My point is she has to be a distance from the hook before you can swap back to Victor and he even has to be a certain distance before you can swap back to her after you've been controlling him. The time it takes before she can do anything other than walk in a straight line after taking control is considerable and the only thing that shortens that is a single add-on that doesn't shave off much time.
Additionally the only way you can leave Victor close enough to a hook is to plant him before hooking and when/if you switch back to him you cannot switch back to Charlotte until you are crushed or move away from the hook as him.
-
I haven't played the twins live but on the PTB you literally could not camp Charlotte while controlling Victor since
1.) Victor can't hook Survivors, only down them.
2.)Charlotte has to be a distance from the hook after hooking someone to switch back to Victor. In the time it took to switch from Victor back to Charlotte is enough to finish the unhook animation and get a considerable distance before the killer fully regains control of Charlotte, even using her Black Hood add-on.
Like I said, I haven't played as or against them yet in live so the numbers might have changed a little but I can't imagine they would reverse this.
-
As a Hag main, it's all about placing her traps and knowing when to use them in chases and whatnot.
I have mad respect for Nurse mains though, I played her enough to get semi competent and she still frustrates the hell out of me.
-
I would say that demo is one of the next with Huntress since their base kits are fine it's just small tweaks and add-ons that need to be done they could probably knock those two out of the way at the same time in one patch so they can put more effort into other problematic killers, that's just my thoughts for their reasoning and I could be way off though lol

Yeah, I think it's better to turn it off for a week instead of disabling a killer.
-
They're talking about turning hit validation off because of a bug that effects only Oni so now they're back to jank hits through windows from other killers.
-
I was gonna add nurse to my list of mains but I got to the point where I was kinda competent with her and decided I'd make Trapper my new 2nd main because I prefer the tactical plays of reading Survivors, knowing pathing on maps, etc. that comes with trapping killers like Hag and Trapper over decent chases interrupted by fatigue every 10 seconds.
One of my favorite parts of Nurse though is the number of Survivors that mind game themselves against you. They'll just keep running a loop and end up right in front of you within lunge range and it's hilarious.
-
I'm wanting to play around with some of these perks for both sides so I bought through Steam since I use my shards for BP in the shrine or the occasional cosmetic and I'm an achievement completionist. Also on Steam it's $7 but with cells it's $10 so why a PC player would buy with cells makes no sense to me.

If anyone is having a stealth game vs your doctor, absolutely nothing is to blame but you. Dr can shock half a map, whispers tells you where to land to let off that huge shock, didn't get anyone? Check the lockers. Sounds like you run a monitor and abuse Dr and are upset you couldn't stealth back. Dr isn't a stealth killer and if you want him to be, no one is going mad.
Yeah, and if you're still having issues with lockers player Locker Doctor: Iron Maiden, BBQ, Whispers, and Pop or Brutal; for add-ons run a Calm and literally any other add-on.
Calm increases terror radius when your AoE is ready to be used, Whispers for obvious reasons, Iron Maiden so if they think hiding is a good idea they expose themselves anyway, BBQ for the BP and to know where to go after a hook (this can be swapped for something else since whispers is in play, I just love bonus BP), Pop for gen regression but it's not really needed if you keep them in madness 3 often enough, Brutal for the pre drop pallets/when you mistime shocks to prevent the pallet drop.
-
Unfortunately I don't think this will work on those times aim dressing makes me slap a cornstalk to my right or the pallet to my left but hopefully it'll help with grabs or when I'm playing Survivor and get hit 8 feet through the window and I'm on the ground exhausted with lithe.

I have Susie's bunny skin as well but that's just linked not actually a Legendary skin. So far the only actual Legendary skins are Lisa and Cybill for Cheryl, Minotaur for Oni, and a Christmas skin for Trapper coming next week. The rest are just purple skins that are linked.

I don't want to be red rank, but it's impossible to rank down because I at least safety pip every match.
Yeah, the only time I don't safety pip as Survivor is when I'm tunneled because of a non BT save or when nobody saves me by end of first stage so I don't bother struggling for second stage because kindred is showing my "team" in separate corners of the map self caring while one is chased.

Longest I've had was 15 minutes because I DC'd against a toxic Meyers and about 2 hours later my internet kicked out. I waited out the 15 minutes, played a couple more games then quit for the night. The next night I DC'd as killer against a bully squad and got a 5 minute ban.
The ban is very lenient and if it's a constant issue for you I highly recommend contacting your isp or updating your router. If it's the game that keeps crashing, on console I'd suggest reinstalling and on PC either reinstalling or verifying your game files because in terms of actual game crashes on PC I've had a total of 2 in my year of playing but a friend of mine had it crash 6 times in a month and after a full reinstall his game hasn't had a single issue.

So you are saying all terror radius perks stick with Charlotte when controlling Victor?
Victor can slug injured survivors and pretty much ignore windows/pallets when you've mastered the pounce (which will become easier I suppose as the devs said they're gonna adjust the pounce) right?
Doesn't that mean Charlotte can be used as some sort of a "perk-tower" that you place at the center of a map so you can go out and snowball as Victor when everyone's injured?
I'm thinking of something like this:
- Coulrophobia
- Sloppy Butcher
- Distressing
- Nurse's Calling
Strategy:
1) Injure all survivors as Charlotte or Victor.
2) position Charlotte somewhere that allows her terror radius to cover the most important parts of the map.
3) Sloppy, Coulrophobia + Distressing will make sure the survivors won't heal quickly.
4) send Victor to snowball them all using "Charlotte's Nurse's Calling".
Obviously this is more of a meme build as it's highly dependant on the map but could be fun on something like Lery's, the Game map or Hawkins.
I believe when you're controlling Victor and Charlotte is dormant she has no TR until you take control again, I didn't play as Survivor on the PTB though so I'm not 100% sure on this.

-
I don't dodge as Survivor, wait times are long enough and if the match goes poorly at least I got some BP or a tome challenge progress out of it.
As Killer there's a couple reasons I dodge. I will dodge if:
1. I'm playing Hag and there's more than 2 flashlights in the lobby.
2. It's a group that I feel is a toxic swf, can't really explain but from my experience against certain item pairings, cosmetics, names, etc... they give me a gut feeling that it's gonna be a bad time.
3. If everyone but one person is readied up. With this one I'll wait it out sometimes but I usually dodge at a certain point to avoid the last second switch.
As killer my queue times are almost instant so I know that whatever team I've just dodged will get a new killer quickly, if for some reason my killer queue times are slower I will usually just deal with the match and if I end up against those quads I can't stand I'll just mess around or go afk until the match is over because I won't feed the bad behavythat turns newer killer players away from the game.
Personally I am against lobby dodging penalties as anyone in a lobby has priority match making, when a Survivor leaves at most it's taken a minute or two to get another Survivor, when killers dodge we usually have a new killer within 30 seconds so it's a complete non issue.
