Yeah you're dreaming if you think all survivors don't stop gens and come to your hook and not do the one thing they are supposed to do in such a situation, especially on the first hook where they haven't sussed you out. I don't personally do this generally and a lot don't in the name of survivor fun, but plenty do especially in red ranks because there is nothing more OP than the early 3v1.
This is where I think red rank has bloat. The survivors that deserve to be in red ranks will just sit there on gens because thats how you punish a killer tunneling/camping.

To the part about trusting in skill, there are games where even otz gets rolled because he just doesnt have time to 3 hook everyone despite him playing perfectly. So i dont think telling people its a skill issue is the way to go, cause otz is pretty skilled at the game.
He also has insane win streaks addonless on every killer despite those matches also including keys...everyone's gotta lose eventually.

Mate, just drop the item. Franklin's doesn't affect items if you put them down yourself. You can always go back for that item later if you're out of chase.
That can still just be throwing, way I see it fine you don't want me to use items this game to the extent you brought a perk for it. Shouldn't effect follow on games.

This is some rank 20 killer games logic, there is a big difference between a noob being obsessed with kills due to lack of game knowledge and wasting the entire match on one guy and a red rank killer swiftly making it a 3v1 ridiculously reducing the odds of the survivors winning.
The difficulty difference in a real game of a 4v1 and a 3v1 is extreme especially on a 3 gen.
But I thought this game was survivor sided? All I read about is 3 gens popping in the time it takes to down one person, shoot 60s chase, 7s hook, 2 minutes of chilling on the hook that's enough time to do 5 gens much less since they only will have 3 at this point they only need to do 4 to turn that key on.
-
Ill have to see with the new laceration timer but I've been firm that their previous change to him was a nerf not a buff. Especially now that the cut through double hit thing is gone I think he's slightly worse. Prior to any changes it was generally agreed that melodious murder and fizz spin soda was his best addon combo, which gave the faster throw rate and 6 knives to down instead of 8(you still had 60 base knives). Now melodious is changed and its original effect was baselined, but you have 44 knives and they decay faster. So you can bring a loa to get 8 more knives bringing you to 52. Which in total is 8 fewer carried knives, 5s faster decay, same knives to down as the original addon combo.

'overpowered'
let's see:
- requires a certain number of gens to be done
- requires the players to find the hatch
so, even if they bring a hatch offering... they still have to get all these done first... which can can usually do pretty easily while you're busy chasing the keyholder.
heck, judging by the justifciation I'd say some people bring a key as distraction, and you people are falling for it. wow
Ive started bringing green keys and camaraderie to matches for this very reason lol
-
@Power_Guy said:
I love how Franklin's Demine was perfectly fine...until they made keys need at least 1 charge to open hatch. Suddenly it's 'unfun' or 'OP' or 'unfair'. 😂
I've always thought franklins was an unfun perk and it has nothing to do with keys, you can play extremely well and outclass the killer as a group in almost every regard but lose your items even if you brought a white ward. Personally I would be totally fine if franklins made you drop your item and it lost all charges in 20s or was disabled for the rest of the match somehow if you at least got it back after if you escape, even if you only got it back after using a white ward. Just never liked the fact it affects survivors outside of the trial. Think about it, you are protecting an injured survivor on the way out the gate, you have a purple item with nice addons and brought a white ward, you take a protection hit for the person and you all escape, but you lost all that bp investment through an offering to keep your item because of a perk and its not even effecting the current trial it is effecting your next match.

I like that idea. Something I am going to have to try.
I've been bringing green keys and camaraderie to every match and laugh as the killers waste all their effort into trying to kill me off while the entire rest of the game happens behind them. Easy 4 man escapes.
-
Iri head and lethal pursuer is a great way to make a survivor DC 5s into the game and make it a 3v1, you can just be an m1 killer at that point.

can console not change their binds?

I have a buddy that will tbag when someone gets hooked and he knows the killer has bbq as a heyyyy you got me gesture, I told him that's probably not what it comes across as. When I play killer I love when the survivors tbag while I'm breaking pallets, it means they aren't getting as much distance as they could haha.

I can conced to it i'm just saying the killer only stays in the chase if wants to. If he doesn't wanna chase then you're free to do gens and get your gen points and try get a chase later when you recue someone for example.
You can't just get a chase that lasts whole match and get full gen points because the killer stubbornly kept chasing you.
If the killer never gets you in a prolonged chase clearly you're outplaying them, killer mistakes or not, so you think they should be punished for this?

it must be because the teammates i keep getting solo queue have got to be bots im convinced

Exactly it's not on the survivors, so you didn't actually do anything... It's the killer that did poorly. You can't be rewarded extra BP for not doing your objective and the killer playing poorly...
Your actions didn't matter, the lack of killer actions did matter... You did nothing the killer did everything, and he did it all wrong. You didn't force the killer to stay on you, you didn't give team mates anytime, the killer made a wrong choice and he payed for it.
You only get rewarded points for gen completion if you're in a chase right? So if the killer quit's the chase and goes to the gen then you get nothing besides the chase points which you were getting already...
So after all this how can you be crying for gen progress points when it's up to the killer if he chases or not so he decides if you get bonus points or not? What you want is all the points for the killer playing bad, cause that's the scenario, the killer is playing bad and you want points for the killer being bad...
Friend if you can't concede that a survivor's ability to prolong a chase with a killer facilitates gen completion for the team then I am afraid this conversation with never go anywhere. But thanks for your input!

Exactly it's a team effort. Someone not doing gens is not team effort during the gens part. You have to work on gens, it's part of your objective. If you're not doing the objective you can't be rewarded for it. The problem isn't you not being rewarded by them doing gens while you're in chase, in that case the problem is the killer not quitting the chase, the killer should quit the chase, giving you time to do gens and get more points in other categories and giving someone else a chase.
The problem is they can do it without you, they don't need you. 1 guy can do all 5 gens and the result is the same as if all 4 were doing gens but since only 1 guy did them you can't reward the other 3 besides giving them the escape option. This is why people stay on gens while others are on hook, they don't need you to survive. And you don't need them either, let them all die and escape via Hatch or try Gate if killer closes Hatch or get lucky and get a key or bring and hide a key. You can't be rewarded for being able to ignore the game's conditions. And by default the game is expecting 2 people to die so regardless if you've done alot or not you may end up dying or escaping.
You can't expect to get points when you spend 1 min 30 on a Hook aswell. You're basicly timmed out from any activity in the game. So again it's up to team work, them rescuing you means there's 1 more pair of hands to accomplish the objectives. The game should enforce more team work and not reward individuality. IF you want gen points for being in a chase then i want chase points bonus for you hogging the killer for yourself. But this is a stupid thing it's the killer's fault if he doesn't leave you so i can't expect to magically get max chase points if i escape without being chased or if i die to something like NOED or Rancord or Tombstone Myers...I wasn't chased i don't get chase and boldness points.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2414488#Comment_2414488
You won't be getting that manny points from just 1 survivor. And you need them to stay close everytime you kick something so you can keep picking the chase back up, kicking gens and pallets in the same chase is alot of time wasted so yeah they need to be waiting for you. And you won't be kicking everything in 1 chase, you can get points in multiple categories doesn't mean you will get manny, you can't kick already kicked pallets or already completed gens so you'd need to be chasing in a new area everytime and all the other survivors would have to be on the opposite side of where you and the chased survivor are or they need to just not interfere. This is highly unlikely, the others survivors will definetly be doing something so you won't have gens to kick, you will have to chase someone else when you hook one survivor otherwise you're losing gens by camping so you can't kick any more gens and at that point i'd just let you get the kill and leave. I'd trade the unhooking points for the escape points.
The team effort is to get 5 gens done, if one survivor is occupying the killer for the amount of time it takes to do that then they certainly contributed to the teams ability to get 5 gens done...bhvr even agrees because there is already a system to reward the person getting chased with objective points so your argument on that point is invalidated by the developers. My stance is the system isn't adequate for situations where the killer decides to stay on one person. You said it yourself the killer should have moved on. That's on the killer not the survivors. No use punishing them for completing the team's objective.

Kick back and meme it then till you drop a little if you felt the level before was more your style. I know as killer you can manage to pip even in games you feel like you get beat quite often. Wouldn't be surprised if that ended up moving people up a bracket when maybe they might not be ready for it.
-
I mean your purpose was to rank up I think from what you said and now that you are higher rank you expect it to get easier. It should only get harder and harder right? Not like it's a participation trophy. Want easy games? Let yourself fall back down and don't sweat it.

Just curious what rank are you? Not trying to make assumptions but I too can win from rank 8-20 with nothing. Rank 1 I prefer to carry some guns with me as I always get the worst possible map for the killer I am using.
Rank 1
-
Yeah I was trying to address when survivors are more or less dominating a game, they tend to be hamstrung in the BP department. Maybe a multiplier for gens done past the 2nd?

Makes sense. I main Pig but use the entire roster (even the ones I am not great with). I like Thrilling but rarely have it on the killer I am using. I am more of a Brutal/enduring, Corrupt/Pop, Undying/Devour, Tinkerer/Disco/Surveillance, Nurses/Sloppy and STBL is my most used perk. These are my most ran combos just because I like what they offer and go well together and hard not to get value.
I run the gambit of killers as well I don't use perks or addons on most of them since they are almost all level 1 because I can't justify putting points into them when I win with them naked the majority of the time anyway, legion is who I've put points in because I think he's fun and feels oppressive with thrilling, Pop, surge, thana.

Technically, Killers can.
Through a chase, he found Survivors (Hunter), he kicks Gen (Brutality), using power (Deviousness), hit survivor (Brutality), kicks Pallets (Brutality), using power (Deviousness), hit survivor (Brutality), hook (Sacrifice)
As you can see, a single chase gives Killer BP through all 4 categories. He definitely can chase a single Survivor a whole game and earn 25.000 (If other 3 survivor dont get a single hook).
Survivors, on the other hand, the tunneled guy maximum earn 8000 Boldness, and may be 2000 Survival from some stuns. Other 3 may earn 8000 from Gen and 5000 escape.
Yes this discrepancy is what I was trying to address. I know survivors in chase get points when gens and totems pop while they are in chase but they don't get points for the progress made on those if they don't quite pop during the chase. Example you can run a killer for 89s and go down the second after you go down a gen pops, you don't get credit for the gen. If the gen popped during the chase you would get some credit for it.

And yes I know teammates suck sometimes. Most of the time I die it's their fault but still this is my opinion.
I guess part of that bias for me is I don't use SC as a survivor so I'm always darting my camera around like I have adhd. And one the the people I play with isn't all that great with awareness himself so he will be actively panicking over the mic about getting chased meanwhile the killer has been off him for 10s and is giving me a pat on the back on a gen or something. Usually ends it quite a laugh. I also main legion so I have the pinnacle of being an m1 killer and thrilling tremors really tells me anything I need to know so I don't need to be super attentive.

I will answer you. I won more than I lost with my Xbox one when people were skipping across the map, DH froze me, and my power surged my system. Since getting Series S I got a 2k couple times using killers I suck with (Plague, Billy) but other than that 4k. I always wondered how good I would be with a system that is not broken and I got my answer finally (thank you GameStop).

Brain dead drives me nutz. There is nothing in this game that is brain dead. Uh I hate that phrase.
Okay, I find killer to require much less attentiveness than survivor
-
@lemonsway said:
You can't ignore a portion of the match and still be able to get max BP. Imagine killer getting max BP if he could just tunnel 1 survivor every match, get their 1 killer and get max BP. If a killer is tunneling a Survivor the team should put an effort into stopping that. Bodyblocking, trading a hook, whatever. They get points for themselves and ensure you get to do something more than being stuck in a cycle with the killer. If you decide to loop a killer till the game is done then you can't complain about lack of BP, you chose to be looping instead of sharing all responsabilities. You're also stealing chase points from others by getting the attention of the killer...
I said I hadn't worked out how I would change killer or if I would at though. Though I don't think it equates as directly as this. The killers goal is to kill all the survivors, the survivors goal is to escape. If one person manages to occupy the killer that long and then probably get tunneled off again out of spite why shouldn't they be rewarded. They aren't ignoring a portion of the match really there are 4 of them its a team effort and it's dynamic, if one game a survivor can do this for the team I feel they should be rewarded justly.

No they're not fine. They're noticeably broken. Anyone who's played killer for any amount of time can tell you that. It's not that they're walking. It's that they're delayed from where the survivor is running. They're disappearing WAY quicker then they're supposed to. And they're not showing up consistently where they're supposed to be
I play killer a lot but I haven't really noticed this much. Could you link a video that shows what you're talking about? Maybe I'm just used to what I'm seeing and don't see it as being off or something.

tracking is AWFUL right now and on indoor maps it's even worse when the ######### scratchmarks keep disappearing every few meters.
Survivors often do walk a few steps intentionally to make a gap in scratch marks if they know you don't have a LOS on them.

I dont usually care to play nurse/spirit/hag because even perkless and with no addons the games are too much of a steamroll to be fun. Trickster I would say is the worst power wise because his pinnacle of power is pounding knives into someone unhooking which is just a scummy way to play because evidently his knives even hit the person being unhooked through their invincibility in the animation.

Big agree, killer is braindead easy most of the time....win 90% of my games without having to rub 2 braincells together.
-
Some unsafe pallets maybe if you know the nearest safe place to go is a bit away sometimes you need to make sure you get the stun to make the distance, but that's I guess maybe camping the pallet for like a second or two or trying to vacuum it not so much chilling by it, if you're chilling by it you are a detriment to your team.

White ward will let you keep the item if you pick it up again and let yourself get grabbed by the killer instead of M1 hit.
I really do not see an issue with losing your item if the killer knocks it out of your hand.
so throw instead of having an offering worth 6k bp function because of a perk? its affecting after the game idgaf about during let it hit 0 charges the second it hits the ground for all i care.

Me thinks it should give the survs back their items after the game if they manage to escape or at least if they bring a white ward.

The OP is arguing against buffing any of the weaker killers. He even keeps for some reason bringing up Otzdarva playing Trapper as a reason why Trapper shouldnt be buffed, even though Otzdarva himself has been saying for years that Trapper should be buffed to allow him to carry more than 1 trap without needing to use up an addon slot for that.
i also think trapper should be able to lug a trap by default. Still dont think every killer with a bad community perception needs to be buffed to the point of being oppressive...which is what OP said. Now i dont agree with his idea of whats oppressive like i said i still think trickster is far from OP.

Do you think every killer has been buffed into oppression hard? You yourself just said Trickster isn't OP and did those changes to Clown make him S tier all of a sudden? This thread isnt complaining about S tier killers, but that F tier killers arn't left in F tier. Most people can agree that aiming for B tier is the general goal here, not mediocrity ( a word im purposefully using because the title is asking for it).
I never said the changes made him S tier and i didnt complain about S tier killers once. If all killers were B tier then there would be a new F tier of which was the worst of B tier. Mediocrity is a synonym for average anyway so literally the OP wants exactly what you just said.

If that was the case, the title would be "Do ALL killers HAVE to be S tier" rather than "Can't we have mediocre killers?"
the first sentence is does every killer have to be buffed into oppression hard...

And against most survivors you never need to use your power either and they just run into you and die. tuning for the top 5% is pointless

Thats the thing though, this thread is asking for purposefully weak or "mediocre" killers. The only real reason I've seen for this is for a challenge since they blow everyone away and its too easy. For THOSE people, they have plenty of options to pick from for the entire killer cast where they can strap on a brown addon as opposed to buying a completely new killer who purposefully sucks because playing Trapless trapper is just too strong for their amazing skills.
No this thread is asking to simply leave some killers more or less alone just because they arent S tier. Now i think their example of trickster was a poor one because im of the opinion that their changes were a nerf.

Those show the minimum skill required to utilize a killer, not how good a killer is. Nurse's difficulty is high, yet she's the STRONGEST killer in the game rather than the weakest.
Either way though, if you WANT to play a weak character, there is already options for that. The devs dont need to purposefully create weak characters. Just utilize one of the many options to weaken one of the characters who are decent at basekit rather than insist for a character with a bad basekit.
https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Placebo_Tablet
Heres an example...
I don't think they should go out of there way to make a bad killer but I think relative power levels are fine. No matter how much you try to balance something, because it's asymmetrical and a pvp game a meta will always create itself. In the game right now every killer is perfectly viable to go into 10 games with no addons and come out on top in at least 5 of them and probably more
