If you want an extra challenge, why not use the system already put in place to have that rather than insisting on killers having a weak basekit? Alot of killers already have addons that weaken their powers and you can also adjust the difficulty by using less perks as well.
The characters literally have difficulties in Their descriptions. Accurate or not...
-
Its not though i dont know where you are getting that from. some people play on hard some people play on easy, everybody is still playing the game.

Sure, but that balance is killer sided from rank 20 to 16 and survivor sided from 15 to 1. Basically once the survivors figure out the mechanics of the game they are the stronger side. So overall this is a survivor sided game.
its killer sided rank 20 to rank 1. Its survivor sided when a cracked team of 4 sweating their asses off and communicating everything and all have the ability to loop for 90s which literally happens 1 in every 30 games maybe, its a killer stomp the rest of the time, survivors are lemmings. Even in swfs when 3 of them are good they all die because the 4th creates huge dead zones that no matter how good they are the good players cant get out of alive.

Because winning is fun, and it all comes down to my point: why would someone want to play a mediocre killer?
back to if they feel like having a sort of challenege...

But then you wouldnt get that tingle of suspense. Not supposed to feel safe.

played against a spirit that always moved at phase speed and had rapid fire huntress hatchets, was actually kinda funny to look at lol.

It is a casual game for the majority of the playerbase. You gain nothing for "4king with Trapper using only Monstrous Shrine", people only do it for content or because they feel like it.
I personally play Legion simply because I like their power, but if people don't feel like handicapping themselves by playing a mediocre killer, I don't see the problem.
every game is casual though. call of duty is casual. the majority of people still try to win when they join a game though...

You know this is a casual game, right? There's no need to """challenge""" yourself unless you're a content creator or you feel like it.
i mean it may be a casual game for you. some people are also casually good at games...or thats their idea of fun

Except in reality nobody does that 99% of the time, they all get off gens and desperately try and save the key. Doing gens is the best counter to camping but the reason people still do it is because a bunch of lemmings kamakazie into them giving the guy a 4k.
Logic and reality don't line up in this game.
I guess im referring to people playing together mostly. i dont want to use the term swf because people think that makes you godlike but most of the time swfs are just 4 bad people all playing together anyway.
-
@GrimoireWeiss said:

challenge, i play legion so all i can do is m1 still do fine because killers is braindead and holding w scares 99% of survivors into submission
-
keys activate when the survivors do 1 more gen than survivors alive. tunnel/camp one of them=the others do gens. by the time you actually get the key holder out of the game, the survivors have done enough gens to just pick up the key and leave, because tunneling and camping doesnt do anything to pressure the other survivors off gens.

oh well keys are the strongest items of the game. I never said i tunnel the key holder and ignore everyone else. I said i dodge them. But if they last second switch then i'll play normally but if i happen to catch the key holder i will show no mercy and will tunnel them instead of going for their unhooker ^^
except thats showing them mercy because the others can just escape with the key because you thought you were being ruthless when instead you just played into their hand.
-
Unpopular opinion, I think trickster is worse off now than he was before. They buffed him in an area where he was already strong and the changes they made hurt him in the areas where he was weak.

i'm not sure i understand what you mean ^^
A lot of people on here seem to think keys are the pinnacle of evil. I've also seen a lot of people say in a similar sentiment that when they see a key they tunnel the person out. Well while you are tunneling them out and ignoring everybody else, all they need to do is do gens for free since you aren't pressuring them and then pick up the key and escape. Tunneling/camping the key carrier is what enables 3 mean key escapes.
-
@Adeloo said:
last second switch to a key : i'll focus the key holder.
If they also burn offerings that prove they are SWF with the key holder : i'll just turn into monsterloo and show no mercy.
Happened yesterday : last second switch to key + offering for hatch + offering for luck + offering to Asarov... that last one as i was nice an burnt a cake, was the last drop ahah
No wonder people on here have so many people escape through the hatch and blame the key. This seems to be the usual MO when people see a key and it just enables the massive escape.

Yeah because you cannot do anything, there's no counterplay and there needs to be
If keys are so viciously oppressive as your posts would like people the believe, then none of these should have been remotely close to 4ks. Keys, map offerings, meta perks, swfs, not to mention playing a few of the least powerful killers in the game and in 2 cases basically without perks.
-
Keys don't mean instant win and can be outplayed though...
-
Also neglected to mention, if possible, hook the survivors deep in your 3 gen because they'll likely drop pallets trying to get to the other side of the map after going for the unhook or on the way there and it just makes your late game even better.

I have a youtube channel if that will help but I'm not good at splitting my attention between the stream and the game
Something that can help is pick your 3 gen early but don't be overly obvious thats what you're doing. Spend the game clearing that area of pallets in chases and identify the weaker links in the group and often by the time they realize they've 3 genned themselves its too late.
-
@EntitySpawn said:
I play both, as a killer you get the chance to get someone out early or maybe down a better player who is now out positioned.
As a survivor if I'm being tunneled I know I can lead on a big chase and essentially make him lose the game just chasing me, I also use DS so I can throw that in for even longer punishment.
Both sides can benefit from it, and the killer should play how he needs to. If it's a rough match a simple tunnel could help, if you're in a good position maybe go after the unhookerer. Cant be mad at people who tunnel, if a survivor does an unsafe hook or your team isn't doing gens to punish it then your team is just as much to blame.
IMO teammates are the real killer lol, I fear a bad team more than any killer
So true. If someone is getting tunneled or camped and the rest of the team says screw it and just hold m1 the killer flat-out loses. Especially if the survivor getting tunneled happens close enough that maybe a random hit can be taken to extend the chase then the game is surely over. If the killer wins in this situation it's because the survivors didn't adapt properly.

If it would mean that the tbagging trolls, whose sole intent is only to cause misery to other players and especially de-moralize the Killer players would leave? Then yes.
Except it also scares away the people just having a good time with friends which I assure you there are much more of than your tbagging trolls. All tbagging does is give the killer a better chance to get them since they aren't making distance anyway.

so punish killer because he can't counter comms in a game not balanced around comms?
My argument is killer is already strong enough to counter your average swf with comms so in my opinion they aren't getting punished. And playing a lot of killer myself I know the super punishing swfs are few and far between.

add an indicator in the lobby with who is swf or not.
the problem will sort itself out when 4 player swf will be unable to find games for 5 hours.
So punish everybody who just wants to play with some friends because killers actually lose 1 out of 20 games to some people really trying to win.

I personaly win many matches in a row, and then loose one or two. But if i take base at my gameplay i would say it is ok and dont need changes. But i think outside my will not like some of pp here, and try to look for better resolutions for this problem that many put to light. Everytime this topic is touched ever have pp to just "get good" and #########, not caring for existing problems that they benefit (as free coms).
But if there's "balancing" in the way you're talking about then your own losses would be fewer and further between. "Balance" doesn't mean compensating for someone's lack of experience/skill.

How often does this happen though? I'm not Killer main, so I'm not playing Red ranked Killer enough to know how often they lose to an OP SWF. I'm guessing it's not very often as, I've asked on this forum "How often do you lose as Killer?" and, they basically laughed at me. "Lose? As Killer? In DBD?." 🤣
I do admit that 4 skilled players on comms can be very powerful and, that is winning by any means.
Kinda the same when a skilled Killer can Nurse slug everyone in 5 minutes, that's unbearable as Survivor but, it doesn't happen that often in my experience.
It barely ever happens my dude. If there werent a random optimal swf 1 in 20 games there would be killers that actually never lose.

Good argument, showing three pictures to prove that killer is "easy", make a 1 hour gameplay with your more "skilled" killer and then we make the average.
I'll do that later today or tomorrow, but for now I'm the only one who has submitted any evidence to difficulty. By all the whining in this forum about how survivor sided it is, well not only did I 4k those games with level 1 (D tier) killers, but the survivors brought keys and map offerings. If you went off what people have said here you would think no matter what I should have gotten rolled. So for now it is feasible by evidence presented that killers don't have it all that bad. I even conceded that there are times that I get absolutely rolled by a team all very practiced together playing optimally, but most squads are far from that.
-
3K or more as killer. and as survivor, if I just feel like i did my part to contribute to the escape, even if we/I don't.
-
play killer, throw bbq on and just play normally because bbq is a good perk even without the bp bonus.
For survivor...play killer. But in seriousness we're gonna live forever is a decent way to go since you're going to be unhooking anyway. Unfortunately usually in solo games there's a huge difference for survivor between playing for points and trying to escape. If you want points you go around and hit all categories, unhooks, chase, gens etc but if your team isnt doing gens while you do the other facets of the game you will simply all die. where if you are playing for the escape you will hold m1 like your life depends on it but probably wont get too many points .
-
tell me again how hard killer is.

You say exactly what I said what every swf player says.
You only make it worse by saying that killer is easy, and that the trickster ON RANK 1 doesn't need any perks or add ons.
Sorry but I don't think anyone believes this.
My "SWF" is only 2 other people and one of them gets excited when he doesn't go down in 15s. Killer is easy most of the time. I acknowledged there are cracked teams out there that make it hard for the killer to make any ground but in your average game survivors drop every pallet way before they need to and run all the jungle gyms wrong. Even if one player is really good you just don't commit to him in a chase long until his weaker friends have created dead zones everywhere by panic dropping pallets. If you really like ill set up a stream and you can come watch for an hour and we can have a VC discussion about killer power.

And don't worry I'm used to it, after a lot of games on killer and the toxic endgame chat.
And for reference I probably play killer 70% of the time I play so idk for you what qualifies as a killer main. But from playing both sides at higher ranks consistently I feel that qualifies me more to speak to both sides of the balance than someone who only plays one side.

Dismissing an argument because it doesn't align with your beliefs doesn't confirm anything, and is no way to harbor a discussion to reach a balance all parties will enjoy.

Lol what's wrong with that. Just would make it so he isn't just hard countered by every exhaustion perk. Not like his power can down anyway.

I think this is indeed the case.
Most survivors are nothing without their swf friends and their communication.
I don't think this will ever change.
Of course, swf players also understand that it's not fair, but they don't care.
They don't play killer themselves after all and when they say they do and respond with ''just get better'' you already know enough.
People who think that swf is fair and does not give an unfair advantage are not playing a killer themselves.
If they say that they can compete with SWF as a killer, then you already know enough...
Conclusion: Behavior is afraid that people will stop playing, so this is never going to change.
People that say swf is unfair and refuse to listen to other arguments are also the issue. I play r1 killer and survivor. I main legion as killer as well so it's not like I'm playing an OP killer. 95% of swfs aren't any good. Yes I do get rolled maybe once or twice a week by an actual full team of people that can all loop and prioritize gens. But killers that come on here and complain about swf being unfair act like every swf is cracked out of their mind when the majority of the time they have 1 or 2 good players on them at most. In the other 95% of the matches that aren't swat teams killer is brain dead. Buddy wanted me to give trickster a shot so I did at r1 with no perks or add-ons easily got a 4k first time ever playing with him. Killer is literally brain dead easy you're nott against swat teams every day I'm sorry for whatever one hurt you.

If killer instinct is as good as you say it is. Then scratch marks shouldn't make a difference, so why NOT include them?
P.S. killer instinct is a worse form of aura reading. It shows you where they are, as of the second the web appears over them. It gives no indication of where they are going, other than where they were as of that second.
Dude you just activate it when you get up to someone and then you have perfect information of everyone in your terror radius and if using iridescent button then you have perfect info on everyone on the map what more could you want. No scratch marks makes you actually just have to use a brain cell before activating the first one to make sure you land the first hit.

Nerf the OP wombo combo of add-ons that exists with tampered timer and I'll agree she could use some tweeking. I don't know if a flat out buff but maybe some give and take with her base kit.

Do you think people gonna keep playing with killer if the matches is just SWF bullying and tbag simulator?
Literally get better at killer. If every group of friends is rolling you so hard you feel the need to come to the forums and ask for swf nerfs then you could probably use a few depips. I'm not the greatest killer on the planet but I still sit at rank 1 and double pip most games even against your average swf because every team isn't a tournament squad. Most swfs are like 1 or 2 really good loopers and the rest just hold m1 and think it's fun to be playing with friends. Don't waste the whole game chasing the good ones and recognize when you've lost a chase.

So why is it effecting so many players at once? Are all the clients simultaneously bugged? If so that means the game is the problem.
because even a 30ms ping is 30ms latency...so yeah everybody has it. same way every person that plays COD swears they turned a corner before getting shot.
-

Bull. This isn't an isolated incident. Tons of players are experiencing it only after the patch, so that kind of rules out latency problems and points to game bugs/errors in design. Nice try though.
It's a bug in that your client and the server aren't synced because of latency. Latency exists even with good internet so your client told you you hit but when it checked the server the served said no the stun came first and negated it.

you do realize killers like otz are not normal right? They are not the average killer
they also don't commonly always get SWF survivors
they do have significantly more hours than most but they are just a name recognizable. they have everything at their disposal that you do. Go on twitch and watch a killer streamer that isn't just memeing and they still stomp a majority of their games.

tunneling someone to death adds much pressure as they are now 3 instead of 4
except any brain dead survivor main will be like whelp they are getting tunneled lets all 3 do a gen now when you take them out boom they key out and you cry about it when you walked into it instead of applying map pressure.

So your advice is to not do your objective if they have a key? So just let them all escape without the key and try not to prevent them from doing any gens? Even if you don't tunnel, someone will die eventually.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2395168#Comment_2395168
So I and others have to depend on how the survivors are playing in order to counter the key? What happens when you have killed someone and 2 gens are left and the guy with the key is hiding and you hook someone else and they give up on hook, then the other 2 take hatch with the key? Am I not supposed to do my objective and hook people I find and down? This is the POWER the key has. People HAVE to play in absurd ways to counter it, which is very unhealthy for the game in all honesty. Idk why people can't see this...
not tunneling someone doesnt mean you arent doing your objective. Spreading the love keeps them from hopping out early becuase youre bound to drop a gen or two while blindly chasing one person. Also in regards to your second point this is a pvp game every decision either side makes is a reaction to the perks and playstyle of the opposition. Killer is braindead easy you might "lose" one in every 10 games because a swf with some actual skill and communication RNGs into you but 90% of SWFs are buns or only have 1 or 2 actually good players and the key simply doesnt matter. so what if it gets the last survivor out you still very much won the game in that case. if multiple survivors are getting out with the key consistently you failed as the killer long before that point.
-
have to do 1 more gen than there are living survivors anyway, just play the game and when the last gen is getting worked on have that be when you hook the key carrier. the survs usually throw themselves at you at that point and its an ez gg

How keys work now? Nothing has changed about keys. I don't care about Franklins, this has ZERO to do with that perk. It has everything to do with it being 8 months since the last mori nerf, and nothing has been directly done to keys yet. I, nor anyone can kill someone early anymore with a mori, but I and other people sure can have multiple people escape before the survivor objective is complete if we use a key.
dont tunnel someone out out of fear when you see the key and it wont activate and be relatively useless
