firstly survivors can bypass gens and gates to escape via hatch
secondly slug timer is 4min which is longer than the entire hook timer so its not bypassing the hooks. i mean hooks could be seen as bypassing the 4min timer of bleeding someone out.
thirdly, for over 2 months now i have barely touched killer i have been soloq player 95% of the time. so i wouldnt say im killer main at the moment. there are people that play both sides, not everyone is strictly killer main or survivor main.
fourthly, tunneling to take someone out benefits the killer, its fast, it makes sense. camping a slug for 4min can be a pretty stupid decision for the killer if survivors did gens. think how many gens 3 survivors can do in 4min. so if players are thinking they need to save the slug or its game over thats their mistake. they have 4 whole min, use it.
as previously stated, i have 60% escape rate this month so far with over 32 hours in matches. hardly killer main pretending to know how hard soloq is lol. any counter argument? maybe im a killer main that falsified my screenshot?

As you see by the downvotes, some people don’t like to hear that solo queue can be enjoyable if you actually know how to play the game. They would rather blame all their problems on “killer mains” than improve their own gameplay.

I'm not interested in having conversations with killer mains pretending to know how bad solo q really is. Its just the same ######### out their mouths. Bypassing 8 hook states is never fair. Killer can just run any aura perk injure injure injure injure then slug partner tried to save the slug hit 2 slugs killer camps hits next slug. Win. Its almost every match because killers know they have to save because a player out makes the game way harder.
I play both sides about equally, actually more hours on the survivor side, and I don’t agree at all that solo queue is as bad as you claim it is. What is your escape rate? Also, can you share your killer stats? Curious to know how many hours you have as killer and what your kill rate is.
-
@Alicia_Tried6041 said:
Try playing solo q and then talk about hard. Healing is fine.
What is your escape rate? I play solo queue and feel like it’s pretty ok as long as I have competent teammates who know how to play the game. In my experience, bad teammates are by far the biggest cause of miserable matches, not killers that are supposedly OP.

…the game is so killer sided and unbalanced. I swear the tiniest buff to survivors and we get massive nerfs while killers keep broken perks and powers.
Besides the new killer, which I agree is broken, can you explain why you think the game is “killer sided?” Is it the 60% target kill rate? Something else?
-
You should ask for some advice and instructional gameplay video from all the folks around here who keep telling us how they can 4K in 95% of their killer matches with any killer on the roster.

Now i know im going to get a lot of hate from killers but ive noticed the pattern too many times now.
Why is it that whenever survivors get slightly strong perks or mechanics, they never make it past the PTB, but when killers gain advantages against survivors, those changes always go live? It feels like the devs only listen when killers complain.
They listen to people who play both sides and therefore have an understanding of when something is breaking the game balance. I’m glad BHVR tunes out the “us vs them” crowd on both sides who do nothing but come here to demand nerfs for the side they don’t like and don’t care how much those nerfs might break the game balance.

Then the devs take out the option to suicide on hook so if you're in a game where the killer slugs and leaves you 10 minutes crawling no no you have to stay or take a penalty. Like this is a joke at this point.
If you are slugged for that long, that is your teammates’ fault, not the killer’s

I say this with all due respect as someone who is terrible at looping and tends to both go down quickly and get hooked 3 times many times before everyone has has even 1 hook… Learn to loop and not go down, and the killer won't tunnel you.
In other words, if you are bad at the game, why wouldn't the killer take advantage of that? They shouldn't be punished for you (or me, I fully admit I am bad at survivor) being bad at the game. This 100%. In my experience, when the “target” of tunneling can sustain a decent chase, and the other survivors actually do gens, it’s usually a 1K, maybe 2 if killer has NOED and/or one of the other survivors makes a silly mistake in endgame. And sometimes 0K if the team coordinates the endgame rescue well. But, as you see by the downvotes, a lot of people don’t like to hear that. It’s much less effort to demand killer nerfs and ignore any impact those nerfs have on overall game balance.
-
I’ve been on Steam since the very beginning and playing PvP games before that in the late 90’s. I’m definitely one of those “old(ish)” people :)
-
Removing tombstone for cheap insta-kills and simply buffing his old kit would have been far better and far less work. This full rework was simply a waste of resources.
-
Matchmaking is by far the biggest problem in the game particularly for solo queue survivor. It should be BHVR’s #1 priority to fix, but there doesn’t seem to be anything on the horizon, which is incredibly depressing and will continue to hurt the solo queue experience. I regularly get thrown into lobbies with brand new players, even though I have over 2,500 hours in the game and have no problem escaping 50%+ of the time with competent teammates. There has to be some way of rewarding players who play well in matches - doing gens, long chases, unhooking, healing, etc - but don’t escape because of bad teammates or because the killer tunneled them out. The current system punishes skilled players just because they happen to not get out of the exit gates.
-
@DeBecker said:
They cant. But to be fair, they couldnt explain how to counter any killer.
Are you saying that no killers can be countered? Or just that BHVR can’t explain how to do it? Was a bit confused by your comment.
-
You forgot to mention matchmaking, which is literally non-functional and in my opinion the biggest problem with the game by a long shot. I have about 2,500 hours, have an escape rate slightly above the 40% average, yet today alone as I was queuing up for survivor matches got one lobby with a player who had 12 hours in the game and another lobby with a player who had 19 hours. And I could tell it was not due to lobby backfilling.
This type of matchmaking failure is inexcusable. The survivor experience will never get any better, especially for experienced solo queue players, until the system is fixed in such a way that this cannot happen. I’m pretty sure we’ve been promised multiple times in the past that the system would be improved, but still nothing has been done about it. The old system, as flawed as it was, felt way better, and at least for now we’d be better off if the devs simply reverted back to the old system rather than continuing to defend this busted system that isn’t even close to functional. -

but have never provided any evidence that they actually play killer themselves.I've seen people take this challenge from you and others. The issue is that it never gets them anywhere. Part of a standard of asking for evidence is that if its provided the requesting person should either change their views or provide counter evidence of their own.
So you're asking people to take time to record and upload a few matches that inevitably won't actually get them anywhere. Why would they do that?
The never provided evidence goes both ways. I want to see the legendary MMR some killers talk about where they face match after match of nothing but cracked survivors.
There have been like two people, ever, who actually responded when I posed this challenge to them. Even just taking a simple screen shot and posting some killer stats would be sufficient in a lot of cases. There are some forum members who tend to be more sympathetic to the survivor side but very clearly play a lot of killer as well, as evidenced either by their knowledge or actually posting their stats. I respect that a lot.
What really grinds me is the folks who come here with the sole purpose of stirring up “us vs them” toxicity, using literally every single post or comment to demonize the other side, claim that BHVR loves the other side and hates their side, etc. It’s super toxic and divisive but I suppose as long as it’s not breaking forum rules, nothing we can do other than try to call them out on it in a respectful way.

There’s a big difference between responding with a good-faith disagreement and anonymous bomb-lobbing by clicking a button. I have a suspicion that some probably have alt accounts and they just spam downvotes on posts from people they don’t like. However, this is impossible to prove as the mods refuse to allow us to see who is downvoting.

There was no effort to adjust and put in anything to improve the situation, and now it's all reserved for 'a future patch', while in the meantime, they gutted OTR and Tenacity.
We went from "This is too strong" to "We somehow got less than nothing" with no commitment to fixing it. Could be years before they try again, for all we know.
I think this is a fair complaint. I think the changes could have been implemented with some adjustments to tone them down and make them less painful for killers to deal with. Also, the OTR and Tenacity nerfs were inexplicable. Those perks were completely fine and it was yet another case of BHVR making changes that nobody was asking for.

Survivor mains are accustomed to getting buff after buff in every major update, and this patch was going to practically codify the Survivors' Rulebook for Killers before the Killer players (Accurately) informed BHVR that their anti-tunneling and anti-slugging systems would break the game for Killer.
But now that BHVR's scrapped those systems to be revisited at some later date, the only things left over in the patch are a couple nerfs to common Survivor perks like Off the Record, the map changes (Which added a lot more pallets to maps and made the game significantly easier for Survivor), and the new Killer (Who's pretty OP, to be honest).
But anyway, I'm happy to share what I know about playing Killer. Where would you say you're struggling most?
Thanks for the offer, but I’m good :). I was mostly trying to make a point to the forum members who so often claim how easy playing killer is but have never provided any evidence that they actually play killer themselves.

We could say the same for your interpretation. I'd also refer to the fact that I'm not the only one saying this, as there have been a fair few forum veterans who were opposed to downvotes from the moment they were reintroduced as a "test".
As for the upvotes being meaningless, I might not even disagree with that as a concept, tbh. Though it must be said that a community manager stated that they tend to see upvote counts as a method to gauge what the current hot topics are among the community.
The thing is that downvotes do that in a negative, and frankly rather lazy manner, whereas upvotes do it in a positive manner, that also encourage posters to make well-thought out posts.
Furthermore, when someone agrees… I'm not sure what you would expect someone to add? If you fully agree with someone, it's pointless to just repeat their, well points. If you don't agree, you need to say why. And not just click a button.
Fully agree. I’m tired of the anonymous bomb lobbing from people who are too afraid to reply with an actual response.

Don't worry, their solution would be "play survivor while you wait". They'll do absolutely anything to keep survivors miserable and killer easy mode.
Just curious why you say killer is “easy mode”. Is this based on your personal experience? Can you share your killer stats? I certainly have some easy matches as killer, but I also consistently face skilled survivors and those matches are not “easy mode”. Maybe I’m just bad and need some help. Do you have any videos your killer gameplay to show how to win easily every time?
-
I play a lot of killer and honestly I didn’t see any issue with OTR before it was reworked. The numbers of times I saw it “weaponized” was extremely low. The nerf seemed like yet another case of BHVR making unnecessary changes that nobody was asking for.
-
It’s super frustrating how big of a gap there is between the best and the worst killers. But the game is so bloated with content now that killers will only get updated once every 5 years if you’re lucky. And, even if the bad killers get reworked, there’s no guarantee that the rework will make them any better (as we saw with the Myers rework where he is arguable even worse now, which is just mind-boggling).

I usually enjoy this game, but after constant terrible balance changes and decisions, I'm just not finding much enjoyment anymore. Almost everything that I loved in this game has been either made irrelevant or just down right annoying to use. I love this game and don't want to just quit, but i don't really know what to do anymore. Does anyone have any advice on what to do? I would really appreciate it.
There are two options: 1) play something else; or 2) try to improve your gameplay and don’t expect to win every match. With this mentality, I still have fun playing on both killer and survivor side.
Don’t get me wrong - there are things that frustrate me about the game. I would say the most frustrating thing for me by far is the nonfunctional matchmaking. A vast majority of my miserable survivor matches are not due to busted killers but due to bad teammates who refuse to work on gens and/or can’t last more than 10 seconds in a chase. I remember one recent match where I was being chased on The Game map for a good 2-3 minutes and by the time I finally got downed, I saw that none of my teammates had even made progress on any gens. When I see stuff like that, it reinforces my belief that “OP killers” are not the true problem with this game. -

Sorry sir, that opinion is not allowed here 😉
Seriously though, I love the downvotes. A lot of people genuinely believe that it’s not possible to have fun playing survivor and I wonder why they keep playing the game at all. I play solo queue, I’m really not very good, so I am like the most likely type player to hate the survivor role. But I still have fun, against all (apparent) odds. I escape just over 40% of the time, according to my stats. Rather than coming to the forums to constantly complain and demand killer nerfs, I work to improve my own gameplay. Are some killers busted? Yes, absolutely. But a vast majority of the killer roster is fine and counterable if you know how to play the game.
Ok I’m done - downvote away, folks.
-
The best solution would be for the mods to require a waiting period or certain number of upvotes before people can create threads. I remember one of the mods saying specifically that they won’t do this, so if they’re not willing to do it then there’s nothing to prevent it. I will say though that the rage posts from brand new accounts seem to be a lot more rare than they used to be.

Thoughts and beliefs change ALL the time. Its about working through all of this together but people would rather do the above. Sadako & HoundMaster Mains I wish you the best in your feedback/discussions as I would for anyone here. <3
Take care friends,
See you in the Fog at some point.
Sorry to see you go. Thanks for all your contributions and sharing your thoughts and experiences with the game.
I hope the forums mods seriously consider how much more toxic the forum has become with the downvote feature being restored. We were initially told it was a “test” but then zero information after that about what the test was actually for and what the rationale was for bringing back the downvote feature. It has made this forum a far less inclusive place for diverse opinions.
The other big issue is the surge of “us vs them” toxicity. There’s so much troll bait out there to antagonize “the other side”. All you have to do is look for the words “killer main” or “survivor main” in a comment to identify it. Obviously the mods can’t force people to play both sides, but it would be nice to see efforts to reduce the “us vs them” trolling. -

Despite what people seem to believe, you can have a 60% kill rate and still adjust the gameplay.
It's how the match plays out is the problem, where the gameplay loop for survivors is essentially either: you get found first and don't get to play, or you stare at a progress bar until the killer is ready to win the match.
Unfortunately, there are insanely loud voices that prevail, and prevent any actual fun gameplay from being possible, all in the name of the holy kill rate.
The conversation, for the loudest people, is "I don't care if you're gameplay sucks, I need to win all the time". And equally unfortunately, that is enough to completely stop any actual changes from happening, apparently.
That’s not my experience with survivor at all. I play solo queue so unfortunately I’m at the mercy of the (nonfunctional) matchmaking and luck with teammate skill level, but when I have competent teammates my matches are almost always fun and competitive. Even if killers hard camp or tunnel, which in my experience is a minority of matches, with competent teammates we are usually able to punish the killer for that and everyone escapes except for the unlucky target.
The only time that camping and tunneling are problems, in my experience, is when teammates don’t know how to play the game and 1) refuse to work on gens while someone else is being chased and/or 2) can’t last long enough in a chase to give teammates time to complete gens. My experience on both sides has convinced me that camping and tunneling don’t work very well against competent survivors. In short, the biggest problem in the game, by far, is bad teammates in solo queue.Certainly there are broken killers where camping and tunneling are much more effective, but that is a separate issue about specific killers being OP, not an issue with general killers vs survivor balance.
-
The current kill rate isn’t even that low for killers playing against 4-man SWF at high MMR, where you have to sweat your a** off and play only the highest tier killers to get more than 1-2 kills. So you would only be happy if the overall average game for average killers is even more difficult than that?
I have no doubt that this is what you want, but players who actually play both sides understand what a disaster that would be and that’s why the game is balanced around an overall average 60% kill rate. -
Krasue was probably A-tier in the PTB and then BHVR decided, puzzlingly, that she needed 50 more buffs that nobody was asking for. It continues to confuse me why the PTB even exists because it seems like every single time it’s either 1) the general consensus feedback from the PTB is completely ignored, or 2) if everyone is good with the PTB then BHVR decides they have to make 50 other changes that nobody was asking for.
-
There are about 300 perks in the game now. A game with a limited amount of mechanics can only have a limited amount of things that perks can do to affect those mechanics. I think it’s just simply tough for the devs to come up with new perk ideas given how bloated the game content has become.
-
This thread is basically just a copy and paste from every killer release in DbD’s history.

Every big chapter release has had a big dropoff in player count in the few months afterwards. This has happened for the entire history of the game.

You always use the “2,000 win streak Blight”, which is like 5 people out of the millions of players, to represent the views entire killer player base. It’s incredibly divisive and it derails productive discussions about balance. You may be surprised to learn that most killer players, including streamers, actually play both killer and survivor roles and thus have a good understanding of when something is broken on one side or the other. Did you actually play as killer in the PTB to test for yourself how these changes affect the killer experience? Maybe consider listening to the full analysis and context from people who play both sides rather than immediately demonizing everyone who was against the changes as people who want to tunnel and slug to win 2,000 games in a row.

With the new grind system where perks from other survivors that you’ve leveled up transfer to new survivors, yes you pretty much do have everything you need. Spend a few blood points for a the items that you want and you’re good to go. Playing a new killer, even with all the perks and add-ons that you want, is a totally different and way more challenging thing than playing a new survivor.

If I buy a new survivor should I get to go against baby killers? This is the most terrible idea I've seen on the forums in a long time.
How is playing a new survivor even remotely close to the same thing as playing a new killer?

Problem is spreading hooks is not rewarded now since the changes wont come live (thank god the some of them were overdone in terms of punishing tunneling they punished even killers that werent tunneling) if killer spreads hooks he gets less time to get more hooks and kills which makes the tunneling still more rewarding than spreading hooks. In my opinion best option now for killer is mainly focus on two targets and get them out (no need for hardcore tunneling but prioritize them more than other survivors) and other survivors hook or slug, injure depends on what perks you have (perks than need tokens for hooks like grim or pain res) or what is most beneficial for you as killer, if you try to 12 hook solid team which sits on gens whenever they arent rescuing or being chased than killer must have fast downs or he looses gens fast and being on 1 gen left with no one death on hook with few hook stages isnt ideal and hard to get some results.
All the downvoters need to show us how it’s done
-
Matchmaking has never worked. It’s by far the biggest problem in the game right now.
-
There is way too much content in the game now and it’s not like BHVR is hiring more people to support the growing content. The larger the pile of unresolved things (bug fixes, updates, reworks, etc) becomes, the more of that pile will just never get worked on at all.

ive played 20 matches of survivor today. My team escaped ONE. I see your statistics have the killer winning 60 percent of the time. What are you guys thinking. Why not make it 50 50. Killer perks are absolutely ridiculous compared to survivor perks. The only thing survivors have is pallets and windows and so many killers (knight, legion, nurse and more) aren’t even affected by them. It’s like you designed a game for people to lose.
And then your matchmaking. Ive been playing for a couple months only and i go against people with 10x as many hours. In short what is your thought process? To try to piss people off?
Fully agree that matchmaking is complete garbage and totally broken. That is by far the #1 problem in the game.
You ask why not a 50% average kill rate? Because the most difficult level of killer - playing high MMR against 4-man SWF - has an average kill rate of 52%. You are saying that you want the average game for the average killer against average squads (not 4-man SWF) to be even more difficult than going against high MMR 4-man SWF? Good luck keeping any killer players in the game if that happens.
Honest question: are you a new player? If yes, you have to understand the survivor experience is going to be miserable for a while. At least it was when I first started and for quite a while until I got better at the game.
Survivor can be quite fun if you’re matched with competent teammates. The root problem all comes back to matchmaking and the SBMM system in general. If you are highly skilled at looping and get killer to chase you for multiple gens every game but you never escape because you’re teammates are useless, the SBMM system says that you’re equally skilled compared to those useless teammates. This has to change or the survivor experience will never improve. There has to be a better way to make sure skilled players consistently get paired with other skilled players and the bad players with other bad players. -

60% kill rate means the killer has a win rate under 50% still. The kill rate should be around 65% to aim for the 50% win rate. Also keep in mind that killer is supposed to be the power role because it's an asymmetrical game.
Did someone hack your account? I’m super confused because for the longest time you have been calling for killers to be nerfed and that kill rate average should be 50%.
